It's SO funny when fics refer to Macaque "Mihou" or Liu'Er Mihou" like that's his real, secret name, and it's just Six Eared Macaque in Chinese.
#His name is very literal. Sun Wukong's name is also very literal.#lit. awakened by the emptiness/monkey awakened by the emptiness#ie: spiritually enlightened monkey#his name in japanese is son goku. fun fact!#so like. yall calling him goku as a joke cuz his va also voices goku... have fun with that!#maja needs to shut up tag#delete later#lmk#i get what theyre going for! but...#it doesnt work for me because I just assume they're speaking chinese. all the time.#yk like how in transformers when the robots speak english on cybertron or in comics we assume its jusy cybertronian?#LIKE THAT. i watch lmk with the assumption theyre not speaking english canonically.

If wukong told (lied) to macaque that he never cared about him, do you think that would make macaque even more aggresive or like shut down/be the final straw that finally makes macaque let go of wukong
so, just like my answer for whether macky would willingly erase swk from his life, I think this answer also depends on when in the show swk told macky this, and what better way to explain this than by going through each outcome per season :)
UNO
looking at s1, we meet a Macaroni who is very hellbent on killing (or at the very least, heavily damaging) SWK because he feels like the guy never truly gave a shit about him (<- my interpretation). thus, it is safe to assume that if Wukong were to laugh off Marnolo's hurt and anger and tell the guy that he never cared, Mac&cheese will only feel that his current assumptions of SWK are correct and that the guy only cares about himself and his image.
would he feel hurt about it? oh absolutely. maybe punch a wall, destroy the "dojo" he allegedly lives in in an outburst of power and anger. maybe scream and cry but be mad at his own tears (begin to wipe them away but is too hash so he scars himself and then can't stop bc he's very self-destructive)
DOS
technically, Wukong is MIA so this would never happen. BUT! have you considered!!! Wukong telling MK that Macdonalds was just some guy from his past, nobody super important, basically a nobody he wronged in his long list of enemies. which MK might possibly parrot back to Macadoo in 2x07
heavens above Marconi would be pissed.
forget trying to be a dick to MK and "teaching" him that his path of emulating Wukong has already made him forget his friends (untrue, but this is what i assume was Macky's interpretation of MK's actions since the guy didn't actively search for his missing friends, who MK thought left him on purpose).
nah, Macky is hunting SWK down. he is out for blood because "did i serious mean so little to you? were our nights under that tree sharing secrets, dreams, peaches fucking nothing to you?" (and idk....maybe after the air clears out, possibly, macky would realize SWK's true reason for being MIA and....help out???? mayhaps???....yeah, yeah, i know only in my dreams T^T)
TRES
ok, so we could technically say this sort of happened in ep1 when Sun Wukong said, "i thought it was someone important," and, "so what, you're her puppet now? i mean, makes sense. you always did have a sidekick kind of vibe."
and that is basically Wukong implying that he viewed his relationship with Macaque as one where he didn't consider Macky to be important to him, or someone he saw as a close friend. however, this is also a tactic Wukong uses against nearly every villain he interacts with, simply to get a rise out of them. so, pin that down as Wukong being observant enough to know which words to use to hurt.
AND Macky's reaction to it is him jumping out of his cool-ass looking jet and body-slamming the monkey king to the floor. so, uh, it is safe to assume that Macky was pissed off at Wukong's comment.
THUS! with that in mind, we can say that in this context, Macackle will be upset enough to fight him; however, if we were to consider the end of s3 (like Samadhi Fire ritual to the end) i would go with the option of Mackarell shutting down and feeling like that comment is the nail in the coffin for their relationship.
CUATRO
in s4? absolutely not. he would be dragging Wukong by the ear, demanding that he repeat what he said, ordering Wukong to try and convince himself that their past meant nothing while Macky still lives and breathes. and especially after the s4 special.
you could argue that Macky could shut down in the beginning of s4, but i think he'd probably laugh it off because he knows now that Wukong is lying. he's being his old deflective self and probably doesn't know where to place Macanoli in his head now that they're technically on better terms with LBD done with.
but after all the drama of going through SWK's memories? nuh uh, Wukong can't get out of this, nope. you handed iMac a chocolate peach popsicle. it is too late for you turn back and lie about your feelings. you can dig your grave and lie about it, but he's just gonna hit you right back with your own medicine and make you understand that if y'all truly want to reconcile, you cannot continue lying to yourself that you don't care.
not anymore.
so, anyway, i hope this answers your question, anon! i had a lot of fun running this question around in me braincage :3
#lmk#lmk six eared macaque#lmk sun wukong#shadowpeach#bc i cannot help myself but talk about them in the context of shadowpeach#literally could have said 'i think if swk told macky this now compared to previous episodes' he would know it was bullshit (since he & MK#went through swk's memories and got to SEE swk's side of their relationship) and would've called the idiot out on it bc nuh uh are they#going to go through the same motions as before and fuck up their communication like last time you take that fucking back you bitch'#but (of course) i wanted back up for this answer and this show occupies all the nooks and crannies of my mind :)#for the sake of this mini essay (she says typing out her tags before finishing this post) imma capitalize only the names#for the bit#also mispell macky's name#for the bit....as well#no i am not counting macky out for being self-destructive#he has BEEN self-destructive to himself and his health until the end of s3#nobody can convince me otherwise#this man was on the path of destroying himself to either destroy wukong or free himself from lbd (whom i might add WAS SOMEONE#HE WILLINGLY CONSIDERED IT WA BETTER TO BATHE IN THE FIRES OF SAMADHI TO BE FREE FROM HER CONTRACT! YOU#KNOW....THE VERY SAME FLAMES THAT CAN BURN REALITIES??? THAT FIRE!!!)#*sighs* why must my answers about shadowpeach and almost everything lmk related be long T^T#not mad just confused on that fact that i have been in a writer's traffic jam for weeks but get asked this and SUDDENLY????#all my energy comes back????#rude af brain >:(#asks#anonymous

Dating them, except they're a monkey
Characters: Sun Wukong, Macaque, MK (brooo where's the yellow text) Reader Pronouns: Gender Neutral Warnings: Nothing, just fluff! ...
Sun Wukong
surprisingly he's a little awkward at the beginning of the relationship
i'm gonna assume you're the first mortal he's ever dated. so, he doesn't know what to do since you're much more vulnerable than he is
very cuddly, like suuuupper touch starved. he'll cling to you like you'd disappear if he lets go. it gets to the point where you start to smell like him
speaking of that, he is BEGGING you to wear his cape. if you've fallen asleep, guess what's going on you, the cape
later on into the relationship, he opens up more about the utter amount of guilt in him about literally everything he's done
if you give him enough encouragement, he might try to close the gap in his and macaque's relationship and maybe they'll be friends again. who knows?
wukong cherishes you more than anything in this entire world, and he's gonna make sure the world knows that (you're included in that)
he's also uber protective because you're a mortal and can die very easily. the only way to fix that is if he makes you immortal with one of those peaches
Macaque
this is a SLOW BURN, but worth is in the end
he'll have some big trouble trying to let you in near the beginning of the relationship. in a way he's still trying to fight his feelings for you, despite you accepting him for who he is
although he's trying to get better, his thoughts still tell him he's not worthy of someone like you, it's not an uncommon thought when the whole world has pushed you aside or used you
when he sees that you're not like the others (ha) he'll warm up to the idea of being loved and loving you
he's not as touchy-feely as wukong, but he'll rest his head in your lap while you scratch behind his ears
he'll quietly purr but if you bring it up, he won't admit it
if you can't sleep, he'll tell you a little story using his shadow lantern (it's about your relationship with the names changed lol)
in a way, he's even more protective than wukong since you're the one that lit up his world. no one is gonna take that away from him
MK
it's weird but he's the least awkward when getting into a relationship with you...actually it depends on when that happens
if we're talking about early in the show, then he's more nervous because wow he just pulled you and you're hot
it we're talking about post-trauma, then he's nervous because he's got the world on his shoulders and doesn't know how to let you in
You're also dealing with monkey boy shenanigans. bro is tripping into you constantly because of either walking with or without a tail
MK is also getting you little trinkets of your favorite things or a cool rock he found. he's like a cross between a penguin and a crow
if he has a rough day he'll just cling to you like velcro and let out this big content huff while you watch monkey cop or something
Pigsy loves you, Tang ADORES you. he is making wedding plans for y'all and you aren't even engaged yet
Whenever you come home, MK runs up to you like a dog and drowns you in hugs and kisses, even if you're holding groceries. you lost a lot of eggs because of that (rip soldier)

Macaque is big spoon
Lol the old men be snoozin and snugglin
(I was about to say sleeping but my mind is too dirty for that unfortunately-)
Y'wanna know why he big spoon?
The sun and moon thingy they have going on and...
Ehh, ehh? Y'see what I did there?
I hate fabric so god damn much.
WHY CAN'T YOU BEHAVE AND STAY STILL GODDAMN.
WHY MUST YOU CREASE AND HAVE LAYERS?!!? WHY CAN'T YOU BE SIMPLE AND FLAT
SAME WITH MACACA'S FUR.
WHY ARE YOU BLACK?!! HOW DO I RENDER YOU
TO QUOTE MY PAST SELF: "his true evil power is how hard he can be to draw"
LIKE MY DUDE. HOWWWWW.
Regardless, I'm still really happy with how the drawing came out like the lighting and stuff (just don't look at the fabric-)
Wukong couldn't give less than a flying f*ck if his pajamas matched. Like he's at home, let him be as much of a fashion disaster as he wants!
Heck, back in his day, he was prancing with a leaf skirt and that was acceptable, let the monkey be damnit.
But he would own something very funky like those peach shorts but specifically wear them on break days or in private
(Mac definitely made an inappropriate joke bout it; he has a mark you could read the king's fortune off of, on his right cheek-)
Mac loves his clouds cloudy king so sure, slap them on his pants I think he'd have those long fluffy or silky pajama pants and he like has a couple he switches out for every now and them.
Wukong struck me as a big shirt, short shorts guy
and Mac'doodles as a small shirt, big pants
On a more angsty note, after death I think he'd be a lot colder like its harder to generate body heat naturally so he'd be a lot more cuddly with his toasted marshmallow king cause he was literally toasty fried for 49 days in heaven (49 earth years if 1 year in heaven is a year belief is true)
I was really debating if they'd be in a tree like normal monkeys or in the stone palace cause like that's a whole thing.
Wukong is not only a king in name, he's got riches and a whole ass stone mansion, I want my boi to one day overcome his guilt and indesire for self care and move into the big boi house with his husbando...one day.
But until then, a girl can dream.
Cause come on, that'd be cool. I understand it'd feel real lonely without the stalwart generals and brotherhood but like he has new company and rekindling with his warrior might help with that.
I also think they'd rather sleep in a cozy lil alclove or like the beds in historical c-dramas that are kinda built in and they build a mini nest of sorts.
I was going to draw the monkeys but tbh, just wasn't feelin it...
Also wanted their tails to make a heart but the lil pointy bit always bugs me so I tried to make it into a more plausible scenario
And irl updates, I have been like formally rehearsing for a performance all week (as in a play) and practicing all day, just watched the 1st cast do it and its my turn tomorrow so wish me luck!
(btw I'm working with young kids, like 8-12 young and they all congregated around me when they saw me drawing like I was a glorified babysitter
And the amount of times I had to put the message on Mac's shirt on a different layer and hide it like bruh. The kids are lovely and all and I'd be happy to show my work but as you can see...not all of my works are...100% PG)
(pls reblog and feedback and stuff, I worked hard on this plss I beg...)

Headcanon: Dragons of the Four Seas
(inspired by a recent discussion with @the-monkey-ruler)
-Although Chinese dragons are water deities, there are dragons who control stuff other than water: Cold Dragons under the Dragon King of the North can freeze stuff, and Bailong Ma used to be a Fire Dragon in pre-novel variants of JTTW.
"Wouldn't it be interesting if the four major lineage of dragons all have their unique side-power, apart from water and weather manipulation?"
-It starts off as this, then spins out of control and becomes one giant worldbuilding exercise.
East Sea:
-The eastern direction is traditionally associated with the Wood element. However, I feel like plant manipulation will be too obvious.
-So instead, they are the master of Thunder and Wind——the trigrams that represent these two things, Zhen and Xun, are both Wood-aligned.
-Their lightning has a notable azure hue, and have adapted the force of Thunder specifically for underwater usage, creating highly potent sonic blasts as well as what basically amount to a sonar spell.
-They kinda consider themselves the archetypal dragon, representative of their kind, and certainly have the attitude to match.
-Like, they claim to be descended from the Azure Dragon of the East, even though the idea that a Divine Beast of the Four Directions, stellar guardian of the entire eastern section of the sky, can reproduce is...dubious at best.
-Don't you mention the time Ao Guang got bullied by Wukong. Or Nezha. Or Huaguang. Or the Eight Immortals. They are very touchy about that. Violently touchy.
-They also have close relations with water-dwelling Yakshas, who act as a sort of elite mercenaries in their military campaigns against other seaborn demons and rogue flood dragons.
-Basically, the proud generals of dragonkind, with a vast weapon collection to match. The dragon king's family also name their kids after Celestial Stems and Earthly Branches, much like the ancient Shang dynasty rulers.
-The East Sea dragons are the only lineage who has an official representative of the Celestial Host stationed in their territory, who's only known by his title, the "Water-dividing General of the East Sea".
-He seems to be an older sort of god, the half-man, half-beast ones who look like they walk out of an illustration of the Book of Mountains and Seas.
-Most of the time, he takes the form of a seal, lounging around on rocks and watching sunrises, and has the personality of a sarcastic old man.
-Whether he's here to keep an eye on them, or they are supposed to keep an eye on him, no one can say. Ao Guang certainly treats him like an old acquaintance, though.
West Sea:
-They are a bit tricky. West is associated with Metal, and the two Metal-aligned trigrams, Qian and Dui, represent Heaven and Marsh...which don't neatly map onto weather and natural phenomena.
-Then I had an idea. What if they have a natural affinity for heavenly bodies? In ancient times, the movements of stars are believed to affect weather, after all, not to mention the sun and the moon.
-This affinity can be figurative——their lineage has a strong relationship with the stellar deities of the 28 Lunar Mansion and Dipper Mansion——or literal.
-Like a natural talent for divination and astrology, predicting the future from the patterns of stars. They are no governors of fate, unlike the actual Star Lords, they are just fate's weather forecast guy.
-This puts them in an awkward position, though: the stellar gods act according to the Jade Emperor's orders, some of which are very much secret and beyond their clearance levels, but the best scions of the West Sea can just infer it from the movement of stars alone.
-Which makes them obsessed with proving their loyalty, as well as enforcing a draconian standard of secrecy, just so they wouldn't get into trouble for knowing something they weren't supposed to know.
-Even more rarely, they can harness the power of astral light. Most of the time, such light is of lunar nature——Star Lord Taiyin also holds sway over the ocean's tides, though it is an easily forgotten power.
-But sometimes, that light comes from a fiery, lively, or ominous star, and the power that results is just as temperamental as their stellar origins.
-Enters Ao Lie, Third Prince of the West Sea, who has highly potent fire powers despite not being a South Sea dragon, and became the subject of some rather tasteless gossips about his parentage the moment it awakened.
-All dragons love their pearls: it's kinda like an ordinary yaoguai's "inner core", an orb of solidified Qi that can be spit out and store separately from the body, but much more powerful and culturally significant.
-Well, the West Sea dragons use their pearls in the same way a Feng Shui master uses their geomantic compass, or a Zhou Yi diviner, their turtle shell and copper coins. The ones left behind by venerable ancestors are especially treasured, believed to lead to clearer insights and more reliable readings.
-Through that lens, Ao Lie's burning of one such pearl is the equivalent of descrating the dead + destroying a priceless, irreplacable supercomputer.
-Intentional or not, to a lineage that is so serious about their discipline, taboos, and absolute loyalty to the Celestial Host, it is enough to warrant death.
-To no one's surprise, they are the diplomats, the inter-department coordinators when it comes to weatherly business. Not just between relevant celestial bureaus like the Thunder and Water Bureaus, but also between local dragon kings of rivers and lakes.
-As a result, the West Sea lineage is the most open to marrying non-oceanic dragons, even though these are often out of practical and political needs.
-That's my explanation for why, in JTTW, Ao Run's nine nephews either guard rivers or work for JE/the Buddha. The West Sea lineage has really turned nepotism into an art form.
North Sea:
-In JTTW, we know that they have Cold Dragons that can chill stuff. It is certainly not too much of a stretch to imagine them as the ice-and-snow specialists, the ones you summon when you are sick of the heat or need to insta-freeze something.
-Historically, the "North Sea" in Chinese texts refer to Lake Baikal. However, I think it is cooler if their palace is literally in the arctic zone, under the ice caps.
-Instead of garden-variety shrimp and crab soldiers, they have lots of cultivated marine mammals. And elite legions of belugas and narwhals and bowhead whales.
-The smallest and most isolationist lineage also carries the grimest duty, as border patrols and prison wardens. Not only is the North Sea a hotspot of rifts that lead to the Underworld, it also conceals the portal to the Evil-Vanquishing Mansion of the North Pole——realm of Emperor Zhenwu, Lord of the North.
-Kind of like the Lord Father of the East and Queen Mother of the West, he is the sovereign of the northern direction and the Water element, as well as the direct superior of Xuanwu, one of the Four Divine Beasts.
-And his job? Subduing demons. The Evil-Vanquishing Mansion is basically a fleet of giant, hollowed-out icebergs, packed to the brim with powerful demons, ghosts, and rogue immortals.
-Any prisoners that make an unlikely escape will emerge into the North Sea, where the vigilant army of the dragon king awaits. However, that is not their main duty; it is the Eye of the North Sea that they swear to eternally guard.
-And the prisoner of the Eye is none other than Shen Gongbao, the infamous traitor of the Chan Sect who was behind most major conflicts in the War of Investiture.
-It was said that, though his body was stuffed into the Eye of the North Sea as punishment, in the end, his soul still gets deified as a minor water god.
-However, if there is only a mindless body left in there, why the need for such heavy security? Only the most experienced elders and veterans are allowed to go into the Eye's vicinity to check on Yuanshi Tianzun's seals, and repeated visit by the same people is strictly prohibited.
-Perhaps, instead of a split of soul and body, deification has split the soul itself: one half is exorcised of all the undesirable qualities, the other left to stew and simmer in them until it mutates into something unrecognizable.
-Such is the rumor among the North Sea's younger scions. But folks will make up anything to pass the time in those long, cold arctic nights, and whatever the truth is, it doesn't matter, as long as the seal still holds.
South Sea:
-Their element, Fire, is directly opposite to the North Sea's; much like the Cold Dragons, the Fire Dragons of the South Sea are heat specialists, creators of droughts and wildfires as well as bringers of warm winds.
-And their fire is a peculiar variant of Earthly Fire. Unlike Heavenly Fires, which draw from the blaze of the Three-legged Sun Crow, or the True Fires immortals used in internal alchemy, Fire Dragons channel the power of earth's flaming veins: that is, undersea volcanos and thermal vents.
-Though they usually display their power in less flashy ways——steam clouds, a playful whiff of sulfur, a blast of warm wind on a winter night, a Fire Dragon fully on the offensive is just like a mini live volcano, unleashing streams of magma and scalding smoke clouds.
-When dragons are mentioned as one of the Eight Classes of Demigods in Buddhism, more often than not, they are from the South Sea lineage.
-Like, the most popular Bodhisattva in Asia, Guanyin, resides in the South Sea. It's all but granted that the local dragons would also be heavily influenced by Buddhist teachings, in the same way their northern kins are drawn to the entourage of Zhenwu.
-Fun fact: the imagery of dragons has appeared in Chinese art since the Neolithic period, but the specific worship of dragons as gods of the Four Seas is a result of Buddhist influence.
-Prior to that, the gods of the Four Seas in the Book of Mountains and Seas are all beasts with human faces, wearing snakes as earrings or standing on a snake.
-And in Sui-Tang era works, some variants merged the Four Seas gods with the Four Directions gods of ancient times, and said that the god of the South Sea was Zhurong.
-A.k.a. the fire god that defeated Gonggong (in the most well-known version of the tale), who, being the sore loser he is, went and knocked over the sky support pillar with his head. Thus, Nvwa's patching of the sky.
-Legends of the South Sea lineage claim that the Fire Dragons draw their power from Zhurong's embers, and their king is descended from the two dragon mounts of the primodial fire god.
-To the outrage of more traditionalist dragons, they often intermarry with Nagas, the serpentine water gods of the Western Lands. Guanyin's dragon girl attendant is born of one such union, between the Naga lord Sagara and a princess of the South Sea.
-Their palace is located inside an underwater volcano, said to be the remnant of Zhurong's great forge. Giant tube worm gardening is a popular hobby among the South Sea nobility; however peculiar it may appear to outsiders, these colorful creatures thrive in the union of Fire and Water, much like the lineage itself.
(Pictures of the Four Dragon Kings come from Nezha 1979.)
(The animated film makes the dragon king of the West a black dragon, and the North, a white one, a reversal of the colors traditionally associated with the two directions——West = White, North = Black.)

• There may be times when you are unhappy about your weight and feel like you need to lose some, but the truth is that Wukong actually prefers you the way you are!
• He never fails to make you laugh!!
• When you two are kissing, he’ll occasionally forget that you’re mortal and that you need to breathe.
💜Macaque💜
• He calls you his "Sugar Plum"
• He's always there to listen to you whenever you need to vent. He'll always be your shoulder to cry on.
• He writes poetry about you
• He's less clingy than Wukong and knows when to give you space, but still watches from a distance to make sure you are safe.
• He loves to have deep conversations with you about life, love, dreams, etc.
• He'll tolerate whenever Wukong talks to you, though it still bothers him to a degree.

This includes s5 spoilers!!
I think we as a fandom should talk more about how sun wukong has absolutely no self preservation, and how he has been self-sacrificial since season 1. Hi, my name is iridescent, and in this essay-
ok but in all seriousness, I have evidence from every season of him doing this, and I will be analyzing it and informing about it Meticulously.
I also have a couple of tangents about him protecting MK in here. I just like the detail of him always doing that, especially considering how he does it.
it wasn’t just season 5 where he was willing to sacrifice himself, season 5 was just the only season where it was outright blatantly stated that he was going to sacrifice himself.
(^Image taken from S1 EP9, Macaque)
this image in and of itself is fairly minor. Because we know he’s going to be okay. he is immortal, and compared to MK, an explosion most definitely will not do much, if anything, to him. and I’m sure he’s fully aware of this (which is probably part of the reason he shields MK with his body so much, there are SO many example of him doing this)
Still, even the fact his immediate instinct was to throw himself in harms way to protect MK is pretty sacrificial in and of itself. I’m 100% certain that even if it could hurt him, he would still protect MK like this.
(^ image taken from S2 EP10, this is the end)
Wukong here is visibly weakened and injured. It was stated early in season 3 that he was weak, and even at the end of season 2, we could tell. ESPECIALLY when he grabbed MK and escaped from LBD on his nimbus cloud. By the time they found their friends, it was deteriorating, and they quiet literally crash landed onto the ship.
But despite his obviously weakened state, he was still throwing himself in front of MK, protecting him from harm, and shielding him with his body. His first thought was to throw himself in harms way, and this time, there is a very real possibility that he probably can get injured! He’s weak, his powers are failing, there is no way he would have the energy to fight LBD. Not in the state he is in at this very moment, and MK isn’t, either. He knows this- I know he does, because instead of picking a fight, he grabs MK and runs. He even admits that he isn’t in any shape to face her. However, even though he knows he would hardly be able to put up a fight as it stands right now, he is still willing to throw himself in front of MK. (Which also directly supports what I said above! It does not matter if he can get hurt if not, he will still put himself in harms way to keep MK safe)
Similarly to above, he was fully willing to find and reforge the samadhi fire on his own, despite his weakened state- to keep the others out of harms way, because they are mortal and he is not. Still, even despite him being immortal, he’s trying to reforge the samadhi fire- one of the rare things that has the ability to actually hurt him. Wukong knows this, and he is still willing to do this alone. Even though he is obviously injured, and weakened, and there is a very real possibility the samadhi fire could kill him, he is willing to do this on his own. Because they are mortals- if the fire can kill him, then it can definitely kill them, too.
(^ Image taken from S3, EP1, on the run)
season 3 is, in my opinion, where his self-sacrificial tendencies and complete lack of self preservation becomes a lot more obvious. So, fair warning, season 3 is probably going to be a long one.
Wukong is fully willing to risk himself to get the map. And it isn’t like he doesn’t know the risks of forcing his way through the Barrie. Ne Zha even warns him, and says that if he forces his way through the barrier, they could both be destroyed. And honestly? If Wukong wasn’t, like, 7x immortal, there is a very real possibility that he would’ve been destroyed, then and there. And while, yeah, Ne Zha didn’t die, either, he also wasnt the one actively breaking through the barrier. I’m sure if Ne Zha was the one breaking through, he probably would’ve died. Even then, Wukong was severely weakened after this (as seen and talked about above!), he knew the risks and he still took them. He knew he could die, but if it meant saving the world and keeping MK and his friends safe? He would do it. And, again, even after being fully aware of his weakened state, he immediately ran to the protection of MK as soon as he realized he was in danger.
(^images taken from S3 EP10, The Samadhi Fire)
I’ve already talked about how often he is shown to use his body to protect MK from danger, but here, specifically, I want to mention be we are specifically shown a scene of him moving his arm to protect MK from danger. Especially considering the danger is the samadhi fire- something that can actually harm him. This is different from most other times he’s doing this, because this time, he can actually get hurt.
This is one of, in my opinion, one the most obvious examples of him being a self sacrificing idiot with very little self preservation (/aff)
his entire plan, from the very beginning, was to try and take the samadhi fire out of Mei (because he never wanted her to be harmed- he’s spent the entirety of season 2 and 3 trying to protect MK and his friends, he never one intentionally hurt them) and put it in himself. Think about that. The samadhi fire is something that can harm him- kill him, and he knows that. He knows that extremely well. His entire plan could lead to his death, and he’s aware of that. And the same thing goes for when he was getting the map in the first place- both times, he was fully aware that there is a possibility he could die from this. He doesn’t care, though. If it protects the people he cares about, he’s going to do it- even if he dies in the process.
once again, we are specifically shown a scene of him trying to protect MK. His immediate thought has always been to take the brunt of the fire, and keep MK from danger- I fully think, had there not been a shock factor to MK literally running straight in, he would have ran in after.
Again, in this scene he has no self preservation, and he is very self sacrificial. His entire plan from the very beginning hitched on having a weapon, something powerful enough to stop the lady bone demon, except that plan has failed, and now, there is no weapon. So his new solution? Stop LBD himself.
If he was truly confident he could beat her again, then why did he go looking for the samadhi fire, instead of going to immediately fight her and stop her? He’s desperate, he knows how bad the situation is, and he still isn’t sure if he can even beat her. He’s still willing to try, if it means protecting MK and his friends, and saving the world. He’s going into the fight. Alone. No backup, no plan, no samadhi fire. (And we know this goes wrong, too) He is fully aware of this! He knows he’s going into a fight he’s might not come out of. Everyone else knows this, too- Ne Zha even points out the chances of him surviving are slim.
(^ image taken from S4, EP1, familiar tales)
once again, his immediate reaction (even when being faced with his trauma) is to protect and save MK. He knows what the scroll is, and he knows what’s going to happen if he gets stuck inside of it- despite that, he still sacrifices himself to ensure MK doesn’t get stuck inside of the scroll. He lets himself get sucked into it. He is willing to face all of the mistakes he’s made and the trauma he’s endured to protect MK from having to go through the same.
WARNING YOU ALL AGAIN!!! S5 SPOILERS BEGIN NOW!!
Let’s all be honest here, they’re both lacking in the self preservation department. They are not lacking in the self sacrifice department, though, I’ll tell you that much! This entire fight, they are very blatant about how they are, quite literally, fighting over who gets to sacrifice themself. There isn’t much to say here that wouldn’t be stating the obvious- neither of them want eachother to sacrifice themselves, they both want to be the sacrifice.
TLDR: Sun Wukong has been self sacrificial and has had a disregard for his own preservation since we were introduced to him. This has only become more apparent as he grew closer to MK, and as his character has developed.
is all of this already very obvious? Mmmaybe???? I’m not too sure. Did I make a couple of reaches a couple of times? Mmmmmmmaaaaaybe. Is this an excuse to infodump and talk about sun wukong? Yeah. Am I sorry? No.

Had a thought, can't ignore it.
Imagine the Noodle Gang doing a bit of clean up around FFM (could be pretty much any au but im thinking Slow Boiled or Century Egg simply because its been awhile) and come across some very interesting portraits. This is pre-season 4 and the whole Brotherhood incident so they have no clue about the Brotherhood even existing, which makes it extra embarrassing for Wukong when the kids come across an image of him as a cub wearing the extremely adorable little tiger skirt outfit and yellow bonnet he had in his Brotherhood days. If it's Slow Boiled then Mei is absolutely delighted to see Wukong as a cub because she's so adorable!! In Century Egg au it's primarily the adults reacting, but they think it's cute too. Like seeing someone's baby pictures
truth I need to give some of my other aus some love
but yeah; younger Wukong was adorable
The little yellow head wrapping looks like it's containing long hair which is really cute. Also he's already rocking a tiger-skin skirt XD
The timeline implies this is around when he just left Subodhi, and now I'm thinking that he's default outfit in the FFM troupe was literally tiger skin and yellow headwear.
Now I'm imagining the paintings of Wukong when he was just a cub - likely done by one of the Stalwarts or another troupe member. Just a ball of orange fluff wearing a yellow bonnet or bow to keep his hair out of his eyes. At least one has him as a freshly-hatched baby with a butterfly perched on his nose.
The Noodle Gang are "aww-ing" so hard that the Monkey King starts blushing with embarrassment. Macaque gets an evil smile on his face and shows off some older cave drawings he did personally; chibi-like recreations of him and Wukong as cubs. The aww-ing and laughter gets louder. Wukong is furiously embarrassed.
If Mei is there, she's taking photos of the paintings with her phone. Or barring her; her parents.
Macaque: "And you know what his name was before it was Sun Wukong? Xiǎo-Shíhóu [little stone monkey]. Sometimes the elders just called him Shíhóu [stone monkey]." The Noodle Gang: "Aww!!" Tang: "I knew it!" Wukong, little annoyed: "Seriously guys? It was in the book!" Tang: "Yeah but most people assume it was just a descriptor." Sandy: "What about you Mr McQuack? What was your baby name?" Macaque, suddenly defensive: "Nothing. It's always been "Liu'er Mihou" [Six Eared Macaque]." Wukong, sly smile: "Is that true my dearest Yuè Huā [moon flower]?" Macaque: (*splutters with a blush on his face*) The Noodle Gang: "Aww!" Pigsy: "Oh, 'cus of your baby fur being white. Makes sense." Wukong: "And 'cus he came from the moon." Pigsy: "...What?"
You know if photographs were a thing, there'd be an ungodly amount of baby Wukong photos lying around. Chang'e may even have a few baby paintings of Macaque lying around her lunar home. She busts them out when the gang are visiting (after Wukong brings them up) and Macaque gets a taste of his own medicine. >:3

Heyo saw your LMK sun wukong post and I love your writing!
Can you make general dating headcanons?
I love him sm he’s so silly :3.
Sun Wukong dating/relationship headcannons 🍑
A.N: Thank you for your kind words! And same, he's so goofy and I love him for it <3
Also, these turned out quite long (and I probably could've made them even longer, given how much I love this character), but I think/hope that you won't mind lol.
Also, not proofread, so sorry about any mistakes! Headcannons are below the cut.
First of all, he definitely calls you 'Peaches' or 'Peach' like, all the time. He will only call you by your name if he wants to show you that he's serious. Also he will occasionally use other nicknames, such as 'babe', 'honey', 'sweetheart'. But that's rare, 'Peaches' is still his favorite.
You are probably the only person he's willing to share his peach flavored chips with.
Also, he's kinda clingy and touch starved as hell. Can you really blame him though? This monkey was pretty much all alone for a few centuries.
So Wukong is almost always touching you in some kind of way when you are near him, even when you're somewhere public or not hugging or cuddling. Either hand holding, or he will curl his tail around your ankle or some more subtle things like that.
He will often groom your hair in search for bugs the way monkeys do if you sit next to each other. He knows you take good care of your hair and there's absolutely no way any bugs or insects could be in it. But it's an instinct, he can't help it. You don't mind however, he's so gentle when he does that that it's actually very relaxing.
He's touch starved to the point when if you have to get up while cuddling, he will whine quietly. But if you ask/tease him about it, Wukong will huff and deny it while claiming that you're just hearing things.
I have a headcannon that while he is very strong and all, his body isn't actually that muscular. In fact, he is a bit chubby. He's quite soft and squishy in a good way- I mean just look at him in the beach scene in season 4, he totally has a 'dad bod'- and you love it. Wukong's body is perfect for hugging.
I imagine his hugs being just the right amount of tight 👌 He's always warm and soft and actually smells really good- he smells of peaches and leaves.
Wukong loves hugging and being hugged, so you can hug him almost whenever you feel like it and he absolutely won't mind.
Call him Sunshine or Sunny or anything Sun related. Please do, he will literally melt.
Overall, Wukong's main love languages are: words of affirmation, quality time and touch.
We already know from the show that Wukong has no problem with words of affirmation, seeing how he constantly encourages MK and it is visible that he means every word. So this monkey will always and often tell you that he loves you and that you mean so much to him. You can count on him if you want some kind words to make you feel better. He may not be the best in terms of logical advice, but somehow you believe him every time he says it's going to be okay. Wukong also makes sure to tell you each day how good you look and say "I love you" at least once a day.
As for quality time, Sun really loves to spend time with you, it doesn't matter what activity. Although he prefers activities either at home or away from big crowds. He doesn't like to show himself in public spaces, the most he'll do is go with you to the cinema or maybe some not very well known restaurant or something. But he really loves to watch movies on his TV or laptop with you snuggled up to him on the couch. Wukong also loves taking you on walks around Flower Fruit Mountain or taking you for flights on his cloud. Honestly, as I said, to him it doesn't really matter what you do as long as he gets to spend time with you.
I already said some things about touch, but I can add that for some reason Wukong loves when you scratch him behind the ears, boop/gently pet his nose with your finger or pet his tail. These parts of him are quite sensitive, and he loves how gentle you are. He will literally turn into a puddle in your hands lol.
This monkey loves kissing you on the cheeks. Or poking you on them.
Generally when he's in the right mood he likes to teasingly poke you in various places on your body. And if you do it right back at him, it turns into either a poking or tickling battle, ending up with both of you laughing your butts off and snuggling with each other.
Sun sometimes likes to rub his cheek against yours.
Okay enough touch for now, I could go on and on about Wukong and physical affection lmao
You sometimes watch your boyfriend train MK when you have the time. You roll your eyes often at Wukong's smugness but at the same time you can't help but think how cool and badass he can be.
The Monkey King loves it when you watch them train, MK not so much, due to the fact that Wukong shows off a lot more when you are around and thus he is a bit harsher in training and more distracted, making it difficult for poor MK (that doesn't change the fact that MK really likes you and appreciates how happy you make his mentor).
This man is such a tease and a flirt sometimes honestly. He uses the most basic and overrated pick up lines just to annoy you. Be careful not to get flustered by any, because he won't ever let you forget it and will be proud as a peacock. Although it is slightly adorable that he's so proud that he got you flustered.
But sometimes you engage in his pick up lines shenanigans and tease him back or make fun of those lines.
"Did it hurt when you fell from the Celestial Realm Peaches?"
"Yeah, it hurt like hell, I landed on my butt."
Causing you both to laugh your butts off for a few solid minutes lmao.
Peaches or peach chips are the main things he eats, so prepare for always having a peach taste in your mouth after kissing him. Not that you complain, you actually like that fruit (although not as much as Wukong does).
By the way, he will absolutely swoon if you kiss him in front of other people out of nowhere (especially if you pull him by his shirt in order to do that); lovesick smile, dreamy eyes and tail shaped like a heart, the whole package lol.
Sometimes Sun likes to visit you at work or randomly pop in while you're somewhere public in the form of a bird or other small animal and just hang out with you, whispering comments about everyone and everything into your ear in this funny high pitched voice (I actually have a headcannon that while transforming his voice is higher the smaller the animal and the other way around)
If you're up for it, Wukong would love to teach you a few fighting or defense techniques. It would also make him much more relaxed and calm knowing that you have at least some basic knowledge on how to protect yourself, just in case. He'll always try to be there to protect you, but he can't promise that he will always make it on time or at all. He may be retired but still has some duties and other things to do.
A bit of a sad thing is, you both often think to yourselves; am I good enough for him/her? How in the world did I deserve such an amazing person as him/her in my life?
Wukong always tries to be happy, and hides his problems, fears or negative emotions behind his jokes and goofy attitude. I'm not saying that his personality is fake, he is a happy and goofy person most of the time, but there are some random days when he has trouble keeping it all in and fails to put on the facade that everything is okay.
If you want to help him in these times, basically all you have to do is sit there with him and be by his side. Give him a tight hug and sit with him in silence or maybe hum/sing something quietly if you want. Honestly your presence alone brings him a huge comfort; knowing that there is someone who loves him even with all his flaws, accepts him with everything he hides inside and with his past mistakes.
Overall, Sun Wukong has his problems and flaws, but he really tries to be the kind of boyfriend he thinks you deserve. And honestly you think he's doing a very good job; he is a very good boyfriend, maybe even the best in all the realms as you like to say <3

ITTW Sun Wukong NSFW Alphabet~
This is a collab with @rennsdovesaredead who made they're own version with their 'When We Make It To The Other Side' Wukong, which you can find here~
A- after care (what their like after sex)
Wukong being a monkey he is very dedicated to cleaning you after sex. The most he’ll leave behind is maybe some cum on your thighs, but for the most part he’s taking you to the closest body of water so you both can clean each other and snuggle. 😊
Once you two are back with the group, he’s pulling you close and cuddling for the rest of the night.
B - body part (their favorite body part of themselves and significant other)
His favorite body part on himself would be his chest. He loves when you stroke the fur around his sensitive (at least more sensitive than the rest of him) torso, and he adores when you run your hand up and down his chest. He loves the way that you brace onto his pecks when you’re riding him.
His favorite body part on you is your thighs. He can’t get enough of your thighs even outside of sex. He loves burying his face between them, sinking his teeth into them, and even the way that they squeeze his hips while he’s fucking you into the ground.
C - cum (anything to do with it)
More often than not, he’s cumming inside of you.
Unless you’ve expressly asked him not to, then he’ll cum on your thighs and lower belly, right where your womb would be. If he goes that route, he’ll likely end up rubbing it into your skin a little while he’s still in that post-sex haze.
Either way it’s a LOT.
D - Dirty secret
While he loves dicking you down, he also loves shapeshifting into a woman and having you eat him out.
It’s a guilty pleasure of his. One that he makes you promise not to tell anyone about.
E - experience (how experienced are they?)
He’s an immortal monkey demon turned god. He’s been around. (But while he does boast about having lots of sex, he doesn’t drop any names😌)
F - favorite position
The London Bridge, given that he can just hold you up by the hips no problem while you’re free to wrap your legs around his waist all you want. (You could literally never be too heavy for him)
He also likes Doggy Style/Cat's Meow but will only do it if you guys have something to put on the ground to protect your hands, knees, and face.
G - goofy? (How serious are they in bed)
It’s not really a matter of goofy or serious per say, it’s more like when Wukong gets horny for you he has only one goal in mind and pursues it with an animal like mindset. Because of this he doesn’t really talk much once you two really get into it.
H - hair (how well groomed are they? Do the carpets match the drapes?)
I’ve made a previous post about the specifics of Wukong’s intimate areas which you can find here~
I - intimacy (how are they during the moment? Romantic aspect)
Most of the time he is quite romantic, whispering sweet nothings while snuggling up to you or burying his face into your chest or neck.
While other times, he’s so pent up that he's panting out every little thing he loves about your body while he just mercilessly fucks you for however many rounds you can handle.
J - Jack off (masturbation headcannon)
Before you guys get together? All the time.
After you two are together? Only if you aren’t in the mood for sex.
When he does it tho, it's usually done quickly.
K - kink (one or more of their kinks)
he's got a lot but the main ones are:
Biting/Marking Kink
I feel like that’s self-explanatory, but his instincts constantly scream at him to leave some form of claim on you. You’re his woman damn it, and he’ll have his soul drug back to King Yama before he lets anyone go even a second without knowing that.
Breeding Kink
Please let this man pump you full or he might genuinely go insane.
Bondage
He’d go nuts if you let him tie you up even once.
Gangbang (kinda)
One of his favorite things to do is pass you around with his clones.
L - location (favorite places to do it)
Ideally, he’d love nothing more than to have you in his stone palace within the safety of Water Curtain Cave, but beggars literally can’t be choosers, so anywhere semi-private will do.
But don’t test him in public because he is willing to scar some villagers.
M - motivation (what turns them on, gets them going?)
Seeing you be motherly will get him rock hard in seconds. Mans wants a big family.
Also
Because Wukong is a demon he has an impeccable sense of smell. If he gets even a slight whiff of horny pheromones from you he’s pouncing. 😈
N - no (something they won’t do/turn offs)
Tbh there isn’t much he WON’T do. So long as you consent to it sometime beforehand then he’ll be more than happy to play into any fantasy you may have. After all, immortality can make having the same sex over and over a little boring.
He will, however, save any hardcore stuff for after you become immortal. He’s more than a little scared of his strength getting away from him in the moment and hurting you in a more permanent way. Humans are very fragile compared to him.
No scat play tho (because I said so 😃)
O - oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
He’d actually much prefer to give than receive. Getting drunk off your pussy is a favorite pass time for him.
But he certainly wouldn’t say no to a little 69 action.
P - pace (are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual?)
He’s usually fast and rough, preferring to go hard and deep, but he will be slow and gentle after a really long day or if you had a close call with death.
If that last one were the case, then he’d be pressing your bodies flush against one another, nuzzling and purring into your skin, while he slowly pushed in and out of you and grinding his pelvis into your clit. A soft reminder that you both are still alive and together. He’d probably shed at least a few tears from it all.
Q - quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc)
Love ‘em. Can’t get enough.
The second he feels he can steal you away from the group for a few moments and not get punished by the monk then he’s doing it. No hesitation.
R - Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
Call him Sun Risk Wukong, because risk is his middle fuckin name.
S - Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
… this is a joke, right?
Try forever.
He’ll go for as long as you let him.
T - Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
He doesn’t own any due to being on the road but he’d be more than willing to make them by transforming his hair if you describe it in enough detail. (Also he’s very creative so he’ll for sure come up with a few of his own designs)
But most likely, he’ll just transform his cock into any shape you want~
However, as times change and technology advances, he’ll gain quite the collection for you to use on each other.
U - Unfair (how much they like to tease)
This monkey man is so fucking unfair.
If you guys play any sort of sex game and it looks like he’s not winning, then he’ll fuckin cheat. Especially if you’re blindfolded.
Outside of sex tho he takes any opportunity to pinch, grope, and caress you. He’ll use any chance to whisper obscenities in your ear in passing as well. He’s usually not very sneaky about it tho so he gets the tightening spell from Tripitaka a lot followed by a “Quit being so lewd to her, Monkey!”
V - Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
I'd say medium is a good description for his volume. He's not screaming but he ain't silent either.
Unless he’s on the receiving end or is feeling particularly horny. Then he’s loud.
However, he can be quiet, usually muffling his voice by biting into your shoulder.
W - Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
He goes into a type of heat/rut in the winter, when most monkey species mate.
During this time, he’s more animal brained and nearly always hard.
X - X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
See H
Y - Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Any time you wanna go he is ready.
Z - Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
He’ll only fall asleep after you to make sure his mate is taken care of.

The Macaque Problem
I would definitely say Macaque's character is an issue for the show. His redemption arc is not good, and it brings down the other characters and takes up their time and arcs.
When we first see him in S1 and 2, he is an old frenemy of Wukong's bitter over an unspecified falling out. He is angry and lashing out at MK and his friends, projecting this feud onto them. He claims MK didn't notice his friends were gone, but we see him trying to call Mei, and that the others were resentful, but we see tang looking upset being forced to attack MK. Seems like a clear enough villain concept with some room forward right? But S3 and 4 derail that.
Chronologically, we can talk about the Brotherhood, (which he was not a part of in JTTW, and he complained abt being left behind in S2 but here he was?? Eh) He claims that Wukong pushed ahead without thinking or listening and that's what got him trapped in the mountain. But what do we see before Wukong surrenders to the Jade Emperor?
The rest of the Brotherhood trapped by the Celestial Army. We don't see Wukong fight the Jade Emperor. He was an immortal shapeshifter, I have no doubt Wukong could have escaped. But he turned himself in to save his friends. Was he in a bad mood in the mountain? I mean, yeah, but Macaque doesn't seem to consider that he's free because Wukong is not.
We still don't know about the final falling out and Macaque's seeming death, though S5 implies that Macaque pushed the situation. Still, it's not good, because if they can't properly resolve it, than it's just going to remain between them and Macaque's grudge against Wukong can't be properly moved past, which hampers his arc.
But then S3 happens, and honestly I think Macaque's motives are dumb. Why is he trying to get in the way of them stopping LBD if he also wants to be free of her? It's a positive for you! But they also start trying to portray him as someone who 'calls Wukong out' because S3 and 4 really try to make Wukong out to be a jerk. He made mistakes but it was a desperate situation against the Lady Bone Demon. I love Mei and Pigsy but they also call him out when they said nothing about the Fourth Ring/visions.
'You will make things worse for MK when I personally attack and threaten him and his loved ones for my own gain' OK Macaque!
But the S3 special is the real kicker. Macaque apparently changes his mind and we don't know why. They show some mistrust at first until MK says he knows Macaque is not a bad guy deep down... but doing one or two helpful things after three seasons of stalking, threatening, and attacking the gang doesn't exactly convince me.
And then this bit from the S3 special finale:
Uh, how??? Wukong is right, Macaque was until very recently willing throw everyone under the bus so he could get away from LBD. It's pretty rich that he would call Wukong self centered. Whatever Wukong did was trying to stop her and protect MK from having to deal with it.
In the S4 special, they also have Macaque talk about Azure Lion, and again I'm not sure why we are listening to him on characters' morality
Says the guy who wrote a play about how 'Sun Wukong is a big old meany who hurt my precious little fee-fees' if I never see or hear the hero and warrior monologue again it will be too soon but I will say he at least seems to consider he might have been wrong, though they don't really dwell on it...
Even in S5, we get this bit.
Once again, Wukong is right!! After 3 seasons of attacking and harassing MK I don't think he really gets to give advice. Plus WUKONG WAS TRYING TO TALK TO MK ABOUT IT RIGHT BEFORE THIS! But MK was not doing well emotionally and Wukong was trying to be mindful and not push!
And honestly I think they all let Macaque off easy for the S3 events, he literally choked out Mei and threatened to kill her! (Sidenote: he can call MK and Tang by their names, but Mei was just 'the girl' throughout S3... urgh)
But when Wukong gets mad at him, Macaque says "I didn't do this!" Well you forced the gang to do something that you didn't know what the consequences of would be! But Tang intervenes saying he did it, even though he awkwardly admits Macaque forced him but that he felt he should because of the golden cicada. Macaque later decides to leave the situation he forced. He later does help some, but doesn't really get held accountable for his part in everything.
But I guess it's fine bc at the end of the special MK gives him this drawing. This is actually kind of really upsetting and again makes little sense considering how much he and Mei care about other otherwise. But nah Macaque is cool now it's fine...
And Ao Guang! This is a tougher one, but in S5 they had Macaque let himself get sent to the Pagoda to buy others time... well I just say that's karma!
And Macaque comes back, of course, but we never hear more about Ao Guang. Even when they send the power of the Stones out, we do in fact see the East Sea Palace and the attendant, but not him, so his fate is unclear.
So yeah, overall, I think he was forgiven too fast, the root issue of his fight with Wukong unaddressed, and he takes up time from the others characters.

My thoughts #1
Nezha’s age
I’ve noticed something, and it involves an infamous thing about lmk Nezha that everyone in the fandom knows about. His age.
It’s known that Nezha has a mischievous personality in the myths and is also seen as a jokester. Making him sometimes regarded as the god of trickery, even in Buddhist (and I think Hindu) myths as he is said to be a sexual trickster and the god of desire.
Him being the god of trickery intrigues me, and you may ask why does this have anything to do with his age controversy?
Well it’s obvious in the name that tricksters are people who misleads people, who makes someone believe in something so wrong while the truth is so plainly in sight, or causing chaos. As well as joking ofc-
We already saw it with Sun Wukong in lmk, his mocking personality that sets people off. Like a trickster.
But we never saw Nezha acting like a “trickster”, sure you can say that him acting like a sarcastic dick is his trickster god persona showing. But I highly doubt it.
But if you look very closely, or you overthink the whole Nezha age controversy, you realize he never actually had a canonical age in the myths. Only a canonical age range, him being a youth, which means he can either be a literal infant or a young adult. You can say that “being an adult doesn’t make someone youthful”, just a quick google search it says this :
The answer to his age is honestly plainly in sight. But still, what does this have anything to do with his title as the god of trickery in some legends?
Well basically, what I mean by that is : Despite Nezha not being real and only apart of a fictional story, he somehow caused havoc and chaos amongst the lmk fandom by just his age alone (like a trickster) despite it being very clear that the myth Nezha doesn’t have a canonical age, and Lmk Nezha is his own character and is a version of the Myth Nezha, an depiction of the Myth Nezha. It shows how fiction can still affect people’s view and beliefs in the real world.
Also dumb thought : Sun Wukong causes havoc in the show with his mocking personality, but Nezha causes havoc irl with his age. It’s also funny how they share the “god of trickery” title 😭

Talk to us about peachbuds 🎤🎤🎤 (swk and mac’s 2009 version) idk how they end up just that they are also tragic
ok so first off you can watch Monkey King (2009) here where it’s been subtitled in English by the loveliest of fans (bc the show is only out in Mandarin). they have been in a hiatus for a couple years bc there was some issues on finding a beta-reader to help with the translations (HOWEVER IT LOOKS LIKE THEY UPDATED A LOT MORE EPISODES SINCE THEN SO CATCH ME WATCHING MORE OF THIS LATER LMAO)
anyway: Peachbuds 😍
so it’s the ship name between Shihou/Sun Wukong and Liu’Er who are the best of friends during Wukong’s origins. you will also notice that a lot of Macky’s designs in lmk fanart with his ears as well as the drawings of him with white fur, do take inspiration from this show. either bc people watched the show growing up or found it through their lmk pipeline
so Liu’Er was a macaque already in this monkey/simian troop of Flower Fruit Mountain. is also on the younger side of the troop (think adolescence) and is close with the then Monkey King. so that is him home. he was part of them long before Wukong/Shihou joined them.
he also likes to prove himself as being someone next in line for the Monkey King throne. something the Grandpa Monkey King encouraged but the monkey generals always denied. they tend to look down on Liu’Er because of his youth and feel that it should be one of them who takes over after the Monkey King (tho they squabble amongst each other too much)
that’s how he even met Shihou because he wanted to prove himself and show that the magic rock he found was real. he is also one of the only monkeys who doesn’t find Shihou off putting or creepy (sometimes annoyed since Shihou never learned any etiquette). the only other monkey who finds potential in Shihou is the old Monkey King
Shihou (which means stone monkey) really does want to fit in with the troop and finds himself in a very similar position Liu’Er was in with the generals. only, instead of them just not taking Liu’Er seriously, they find Shihou to be a bad omen or a spy (bc he hatched the same day the Monstrous King of Havoc decided to crash their party)
so now it’s Shihou trying to prove himself bc he wants to make friends and Liu’Er and the old Mobkey King are so kind and the jungle is not friendly to those on their own. however, unlike Liu’Er constantly trying to prove himself and going unheard, Shihou does get heard and people’s respect for him rises
which leads us to Liu’Er’s jealousy. all Liu’Er has wanted was to be respected and one of the ways he knew the generals would finally respect him was if he took the throne. he even has a vision (or heard??? idk magic ears you know the drill) of himself obtaining. but then literally the next day, the vision switches to him watching Wukong rush past him to the throne (the, uh, Monkey King got sick and Wukong found the cure before Liu’Er. it’s a whole thing where Shihou won’t say where the cure is bc he promised but Liu’Er thinks Shihou wants to take his glory)
anyway, uh the jealousy eventually leads to Liu’Er throwing away their friendship the second the Monkey King announces Shihou as his successor. he argues against it and tries to place doubts for him even being qualified (i am NOT over it) and woopsie-daisy! he got got in a evil plot and is slowly getting possessed yayyyyyyyyyyy 🫠
#so yeah#that’s peachbuds#They do have a big fight near the end of the ahow#the show actually skews very differently from the rest of jttw#it just takes his origins and RUNS with it lol#there’s also Shihou’s comic relief companion who annoys me so much i want to strangle him sometimes lmao#AND ALSO THROUGHOUT LIU’ER’S POSSESSION WUKING STILJ TRIES TO FREE HIM AND NOT HURT HIM AND—#monkey king 2009#mei hou wang 2009#peachbuds#asks

Hi are your requests open? I know it's a bit of a cliche but can I get Mk, Wukong and Macaque (separate) with an innocent reader?? BUT the reader is actually a badass in battle and they're just blown away thank you!!! Hope you have a nice day/night and drink plenty of water, and take your time with this ☺️ and gn reader please 🥺❤️
I like this kind of idea, thanks for requesting!!!
❀ Fake Innocence ❀
: Them with a seemingly innocent, but powerful s/o
: Sun Wukong, Macaque, MK x gn!reader
: Fluff!! Headcannons
Sun Wukong
• adores you
• thinks you're the most cutest, softest bean in the world and is constantly doting on you
• was very protective of you, like, really
• would never let you out on your own, and bans you from going to dangerous locations if he isn't there to protect you
• well, that was until the whole spider queen fight
• when he saw you beat up all of the spider queen's lackies, he was speechless
• no words, head empty
• you beat them all so quickly? And you even apologized for hurting them?!
• feels really sorry for underestimating you, but you were like "huh???"
• still thinks you're cute
• and hot
• really hot
• "Damn..love me a person who can beat me in a fight ♡"
• not only are you kind to others, but you can also beat up people???? Hardcore simping
• if you got him wrapped around your finger before? Now you got him wrapped in silk red ribbons tied up nicely into a bow all for you ♡
Six eared Macaque
• also underestimates you
• in all and brutal honesty, he thought you were weak
• a mere annoying pleb, oh so naive and so defenseless
• till you actually beat him up in a fight
• you weren't happy with how he was manipulating MK and saw right through his plans in deceiving the poor baby
• yet you couldn't say anything cause you didn't wanna upset MK
• so when Macaque started to show his true colors, that's where you stepped in
• and oh boy did you step in
• ever since then, Macaque has grown curious of you
• clearly you're hiding something more sinister, more dark underneath that pathetic persona of yours
• but nope, turns out that's just who you are
• and soon, he grows fond of you
• at first he found it really dumb of you to continue acting innocent
• but now, he finds it absolutely adorable
• oh, and now he's a masochist
• good luck with that
MK
• you guys are cavity inducing
• MK is all like "Look (Name)! I know what's 1+1!!" And you'd go ":0!! That's so cool!!!"
• dumbasses <33
• he wanted to be your knight in shining armor!
• to protect you from any bad demons and beat them up until dirt
• and to show off too I guess- but that's besides the point!
• you two are both two little peas on a pod
• always resonating with each other, never far away from the other
• you guys are the only ones that understand each other's jokes to the point it annoys everyone in the room
• when he saw you fight, he went from :0 and then to :000?!????!??!??!
• is your number one hype man
• literally so proud of you whenever you....brutally punch a demon into a ground
• it's okay it's MK, he gets a pass
• it's an unspoken rule for him to cheer you on whenever you're on the battle field
• and you also return the favor by being as excited...for murder
• "Yeahhh!! You got this (Name)!!! Punch them where the sun don't shine!!!!"
• "You too MK!!! Beat them until they turn into a stain on the floor!!!!!"
• okay, this is getting concerning you two
I had a little bit too much fun at the end, my bad haha~

LMK mandarin dub (and how characters address eachother) ; an old and. mostly unfinished project I was working on a bit ago. only got mk & mei, alongside past swk & macaque
mk (qi xiaotian) calls mei (long xiaojiao) her full name, and she does the same inversely. I did not find any notable exceptions, but to be honest I did not look very hard. if anyone is interested in seeing how they call eachother in specific episodes or whatever ; send me an ask and I'm open to looking. but I don't feel like combing every single episode to try and find them aimlessly.
my full notes on past macaque (liu'er mihou) and monkey king (sun wukong) via the flashbacks in the season four special. notably, I've yet to go through the flashback in season four episode two yet. I can only talk about part one of the special.
peach tree segment :
- Sun Wukong greats Liu'er Mihou (swk and lmh will be used as shortenings henceforth.) with his full name. followed quickly by Xiongdi/兄弟. literally composed of the characters for Elder Brother and Younger Brother - used as 'bro,' sort of. it's a way men call close friends/comrades. notably doesn't denote that one or the other is older or younger.*
* age and respect is like. a really big deal in chinese culture. really really big. I'm assuming everyone in the brotherhood refers to eachother as XiongDi to denote that they see themselves as on equal standing. though don't quote me (I'm not an expert; I did most of this post in. january. and stuff like this can get confusing when it comes to immortals)
- lmh greets swk as 'Hou Wang Bixia'/猴王陛下 - [pronoun] majesty, the monkey king. the pronoun in question is between his majesty, your majesty, my majesty. pretty sure this is translated as 'my king' in the english dub, so I'm leaning towards my majesty. the way swk reacts ('come on, don't be like that! eat some fruit, enjoy the sunshine!') as well as how he delivers it can make it very safe to assume this is not a sincere term of address on lmh's half.
mountain segment :
-lmh greets swk as xiongdi. when swk replies, swk calls lmh his full name.
-when lmh rants at swk for his inability to consider others, he calls him Sun Dasheng/孫大聖 - great sage sun. intended to highlight his arrogance within context. also, with consideration, I personally believe to put an emotional distance. (pretty sure he says 'great sage wukong' sarcastically within the dub, or something of the ilk, which is rather close to it's like. tonal goal. though it is missing the fact lmh calls swk by his last name, a rare occurance in mandarin. from observation I think it's usually only to show. really high respect? don't quote me though.) it's a variant shortening of his full title, Qitian Dasheng (great sage equal to heaven.)
* notably, lmh does not call swk a demon/variant of demon at any point, which is contrary to the english dub. shortly before calling swk sun dasheng, he says exactly - "你已经了魔" ; which can be translated as 'you are possessed,' but I'd say it's closer to other translations like you're obsessed/you're obsessive.
I'm, ironically, struggling to find the mandarin dub of season four (I remember having literally the exact opposite problem around this time last year but you know. life goes that way sometimes.) when I do find it, though, I'll be quick to note it down ; though I don't think they directly address eachother in that. so.
mostly this was a pet project for. me. I realized it was actually really hard to find people who noted this stuff down and I was like. hey you know what. why not. though due to extenuating circumstances I ended up too busy to finish it ; I still thought what I already had was pretty interesting. though I don't really go into as much detail as I could have, as I was assuming I'd be noting a lot more character dynamics in this post than I did
#being so serious when I say I looked everywhere for season four. just me bilibili and douyin against the world#douyin was not helpful. I'm apparently very bad at looking things up in a language I don't speak. happens to the best of us#all I got was misc clips about lmk#lego monkie kid#lmk season 4 special#lmk#lego monkie kid season 4 special#lmk mandarin dub#lmk mandarin#lmk meta#lego monkie kid meta#I. guess ??#i think.#saying stuff#I've had this one in the drafts since january#monkie kid#monkie kid meta#still iffy on the meta tag.

I think SWK is monkey pretty (obviously) and literally Uncanny Valley pretty like— he looks like a monkey but he's not, he just looks and acts and plays like a monkey, but he ISN'T. He walks a shaky line between Yaoguai and celestials too. and I've always seen him w human features sometimes.
I know the book says explicitly that he does look like that. A primate and that he's also short as fuck. But I think him sitting between monkey/ape/gibbon/macaque (or a mix of all four), Yaoguai, Celestial body, and human seems right with me.
For example, the Blackmyth WuKong's design:
IT SITS JUST RIGHT. He's more human-like in his features but??? It's also very clear that he's a simian. The Monkey King Hero Is Back is like this too.
Very monkey. It's so clear and if you say that he's a monkey then I'd believe you, though I'd also doubt it. He just doesn't feel like one, or his monkey features also just doesn't sit too close to that territory. I feel like he's literally a walking Uncanny Valley amongst the other monkeys from Flower Fruit Mountain.
Some people say he could be a golden snub-nosed monkey, but SWK being based on rhesus macaques is much more convincing. He's drawn in those features in arts more, too. I know he's a stone monkey born from absorbing essence from Heaven and Earth (as well as from "nothingness" thus what Subodhi named him after) but— he doesn't belong on any existing specific genus of primates. Some wikis even only classify his "species" as "Stone Monkey, Based on rhesus macaques". Literally just "based", as in he only looks like one. A macaque-looking primate.
Also I'm not sure but isn't he also classified as a demon or Yaoguai as some sort? I don't remember well. Then, but then, I realized that in Chinese Mythology the world was created from Nothingness, too, until the giant Pan Gu cut the single line to make Yin and Yang.
"Chinese creation myths are symbolic narratives about the origins of the universe, earth, and life. In Chinese mythology, the term "cosmogonic myth" or "origin myth" is more accurate than "creation myth", since very few stories involve a creator deity or divine will. Chinese creation myths fundamentally differ from monotheistic traditions with one authorized version, such as the Judeo-Christian Genesis creation narrative: Chinese classics record numerous and contradictory origin myths. Traditionally, the world was created on Chinese New Year and the animals, people, and many deities were created during its 15 days.
In contrast to the above Chinese cosmogonic myths about the world and humans originating spontaneously without a creator (e.g., from "refined vital energy" in the Huainanzi), two later origin myths for humans involve divinities. The female Nüwa fashioned people from loess and mud (in early myths) or from procreating with her brother/husband Fuxi (in later versions). Myths about the male Pangu say that people derived from mites on his corpse. "
The Palaces of the Nine Constellations and the Eight Trigrams from the egg also corresponds to seasonal nodes (Winter Solstice, Beginning of Spring, Spring Equinox, Beginning of Summer, Summer Solstice, Beginning of Autumn, Autumn Equinox, and Beginning of Winter.) — which can mean that not only SWK was birthed from Heaven and Earth (as well as the Sun and Moon), he was also made with more yang essences than he is with yin. The Eight Trigrams may have also contributed with his immortality. You can see about the 24 solar stems of the calendar too if you're curious.
The book is chock full of body horror, too, but it happens more during the journey itself than in the beginning. SWK's immortality and healing makes it possible for him to do these things, but I have my own theory that he's not made of flesh (or anything that makes a living thing, well, living in terms of biological stuff) and that he was born from a magic stone and and is a stone monkey— his flesh/body is more like a very thick solidification of yin and yang essence, much like how the world was created in Chinese Mythology. Then perhaps balanced w the essences of the two celestial bodies, the Sun and Moon. This could contribute to how he's so hard to injure and why the Samadhi fire didn't do much damage on him, and not just because he hid closer to where the wind seal inside the crucible is.
OOF I got sidetracked a little bit but this has been sitting in my head since morning. It's just that when I look of drawings of SWK I recognize he's a monkey, but it feels like he's just something else posing as one. Like using a suit so well it blends just enough to look right. I could do more research on this but I don't have the time rn so...
But anyway— I think it's pretty cool that SWK is only based on rhesus monkeys, but not classified as one considering his origin. It's very cool and somewhat creepy and maybe even creepier for the other monkeys and animals in Flower Fruit Mountain. He's natural, but something under all that fur and skin just doesn't feel right.
Also here's a fic I've been developing as of late, if anyone's interested in reading :v
