REAL!! he’s such a hypocrite because if someone mentioned you had a work husband, his entire world would stop and he wold devise the absolute worst plans to make sure that your co-worker, everyone at your job, and everyone in the next building over knew that he was happily committed to you

but if he is the work husband, he’s very........ dutiful in his role. there’s a loose office/lawyer au in my head where satoru is your secretary, and for all intents and purposes, your personal assistant, and he’s good at his job, but mostly because he considers his job to be pleasing you. he has coffee for you when you arrive, he moves your schedule around without you asking, he has answers to questions before you can even ask them, he has fresh flowers on your desk weekly, pokes into your meetings to pretend to hand you a file that’s really just maybe a single document in a manilla folder with candy on top of it—he’s made himself your business, your partner; he’s made himself irreplaceable, and he loves to remind everybody of that fact.

he’s also extremely loyal. sure, he could day a week’s worth of work done in about a day, but that doesn’t mean he’ll just use his talents for anybody. he’s your secretary, so he’s at your beck and call, and everyone knows it. they know he’s the best, but also that he’s off limits—not because you won’t share him, but because satoru won’t let himself be shared.

he also extends his duties beyond work, of course. when he hands you a print out of your schedule for the day and you’re confused by the three-hour block of time you have in the middle of the day, satoru just helps you shrug your coat of your shoulders and smiles, “that’s for the lunch date you have with me, of course!” hanging up your coat in your closet for you, “i’m paying, see you soon, sweets.” and because you’re great at your job, and satoru helps you be great, nobody really questions when the two of you have time for a 13-course tasting menu at 1pm on a tuesday afternoon. and if they did, all satoru would say that you two had a lovely date

#took me three days bc i really wanted my dad's input on my resume and he took a while to get back to me #but i reallyyyy wanted to have applications in my monday morning and now i do :)#also feeling much better aboutbthe whole thing now that i have stuff to be excited about #still really really sad abt leaving the kids at my current job tho #but i drove by some of the places i applied today and researched them and im really optimistic about some of them #i even heard back from one already which i was not expecting at all #she literally emailed me like half an hour after getting my application and started asking me questions #like a pre interview #so thats nice #we went back and forth a couple of times #its not my top top choice but that place isnt officially hiring and might take forever to back back to me #this place is a smaller home daycare type place and urgently hiring but the pay is super good and a home daycare environment might be nice #and the pay is pretty decent esp compared to what im making now #the top top place is a fancy pants private school that going to be way more thorough abt references and background check #so they'll take longer to get back to me #but i found out after applying that my friend's mom works there 🤯#so she's gonna ask her to put in a good word for me :)#but they're not officially hiring according to their website it just says they encourage people to inquire so i did #so p unlikely i would get that one but you never know #anyway!!!!#finally excited abt things and not just filled with dread and sadness abt leaving the current place and kids #still makes me sad but im not on the verge of tears thinking abt it anymore lol #this has been a shitpost

#trip to philly -> manage pick up for miami -> thanksgiving -> manage getting myself to miami -> art fair week ->#manage pick up of work for new show -> manage pick up of work in miami -> get myself home from miami -> handle delivery of work for new sho #-> deinstall -> install -> opening #all between now and the 13th of December #plus all the social engagements happening during Basel week and then around the opening... i think December will be a month for burn out TB #PLUS PLUS hiring a new art handler making sure everything gets here and is packed and labeled #and then is packed and labeled for the return trip #hiring a gallery sitter etc

#i just want to enjoy the summer but i feel like i don't deserve to if i'm not constantly trying to become employed again 😭#''apply for jobs then? problem solved'' uh-huh yes but!! i also hate applying for jobs #job seeking can be so incredibly humiliating #first i have to send them a letter BEGGING to be invited to an interview #and then i have to try and convince them that i am actually competent and good at my job even though you have my cv right there #and then afterwards they call me to tell me they found someone who they liked better than me #(or rather someone who was more competent than me judging by their work history etc.)#it's like ''yes we are hiring but not YOU specifically lol''#like. at school if you take a test you get the grade you deserve based on how you did in the exam.#it's something you can actually directly affect yourself #but if someone who's applying for the same job with me has more work experience or whatever they will get hired over me no matter what i do #(at least that's how it usually works on my field)#in which case it doesn't matter if i do well in the interview or nah. bc the other person was always going to be picked for the job anyway #and yes one could say i can then be satisfied if i did my best but it's little consolation when i'm still unemployed!!#and so every time i apply for a job and get rejected it feels like a personal failure #and to avoid that feeling of failure i want to avoid applying for jobs altogether #so yeah. being active in job seeking is more likely to relieve me from this misery but job seeking is ALSO misery. so 🤷‍♀️#that on top of the fact i don't even _want_ to apply for all the open positions on my field #but i feel obliged to because it's what i have a degree on. and when i'm unemployed i don't have the luxury to choose which ones i apply fo #i can't afford to be picky #I DON'T DREAM OF LABOUR I JUST NEED MONEY TO LIVE BUT I ALSO DON'T WANT TO DO JUST ANY JOB! Re reading A Doll's House and I have the same opinion I had when I first saw it performed my junior yr of high school—it's wild but not surprising that the class element is overlooked in comparison to the sexism narrative

They are linked. from Kristine Linde's entrance they are linked #Nora is subjected to the constraints of womanhood but she is in the constraints of an upper middle class woman #an angel of the house who has hired staff and-had she not borrowed with a forged signature-no need to work on her own #meanwhile Linde and Krogstad are working class #both emphasize that one has to 'live' even if they dont want to do what theyre abt to do #obviously the financial dependence on men is a prominenet isse #but a lot of the rest of Nora's issues come from the benevolent sexism idea of separate spheres—but there are additional spheres #for working women #and Nora is victimized yes but she is also v self centered and sheltered #and thats like. the point #and i understand why the specific arc between her and torvald has eclipsed everything else #but her story could not have been what it was if she were poor or not upper middle class-we have working women around her #to hammer that home #like as much as it is abt women's subjugation it is. overwhelmingly abt money #and how those with limited access to money will do what they need to #and be scorned by those who have no trouble accessing it

I do worry if I get the job im applying for I’ll “relapse” or “slip back” or what have you. Because if I get the job I will 100% have the money to get blackout drunk 7 days a week and from my vantage point right here I will take it. It takes a great deal of sacrifice and suffering for me to skip a day or even get less drunk than usual and with the whole “having a job and being more physically and emotionally drained” I’m almost certainly gonna drink more to cope. I dunno.

I love how my unintentional excuse as to why Alestair and Idan never have to go to work is because they ran away and basically quit without notice.

#this has always been a part of the story though as the first ever thing I wrote with Alestair involved what happened #but Idan stops working there because of that #Mara's job pays a LOT and is hire based so she can do whatever #Vilissa is like the only character that has to regularly work LMAO #but also Vi wouldn't let Alestair get a job when they were dating #as for Fae she's a sex worker so she does it whenever #Fritz and Jer are employed but they don't even get heavily involved in helping until Love and that is explained away (thanks Vi)#as for other stoires #the children in Sunshine are too young to work #the parents do work and leave regularly but aren't really heavily involved #and the adults just take care of themselves with the stuff they have or work if they want (like Norie)#there is no currently running school in the castle (but there used to be)#Barle is a con artist so he would sell junk he fixed up but after getting kidnapped by Shika he doesn't really worry about that anymore #Shika and Fria have disposable income as they are just looking for Barle (Shika the princess and Fria a royal bodyguard)#and Charlie is a bounty hunter so he has freelance (and later a courier)#Flick and Millie are child and Nick is jobless and he's a bird currently so he just needs to eat a little #Ebers is a fortune teller so she does that whenever #also since Millie doesn't care about school she skips out after Flick shows up #And Flick is basically kidnapped so she doesn't got to school as she can't even go there #Seth is homeless and gets things out of making deals with others which he sometimes sell expensive items to get money #Lia and Giles leave behind their lives to adventure but were previously self employed (small businesses)#Myrtle is a Princess so she has that responsibility and disposable income #Sylas is a hunter but there isn't really any work to be done if most of the kingdom is under a sleeping spell #Nym uses the stuff that Elysa left behind in death but he was a Farmer back home not that he can get back home #Pokey runs the train station and the venue but he also isn't getting a lot of business from the inner kingdom #that's just the main stories lolll #every story has some kinda excuse about not working while the story happens
