Got a sticker set today that had a sticker which said "i'm just a Girl" with a bunch of beauty products on it. and quite frankly i thouGht that was quite reGressive and dumb! you don't need beauty products to be a Girl! so here under the cut are a list of objects that i ACTUALLY associate with beinG a Girl and the concept of Girlhood in General <3

So we know that Leo canonically put the Grimoire in the West Andes, but he doesn’t really specify what exactly he did with it.
“Well, the Grimoire has a new home in a mountain of rock in the West Andes.”
Which is vague enough for you to make your own arguments about what he did with it, although mountain of rock is more specific than I remembered it being. (I will still be sharing this thought anyways.) So two basic ideas:
First off: some kind of magical stronghold dedicated to keeping it out of Evil’s hands once again. Without it, they’re unable to crown a new Source, which creates a pretty significant complication in the legitimation of any new leadership in the Underworld. I mean, you could make any kind of argument about what the defenses are, ranging from spelled to hell and back or a group of actual beings dedicated to protecting it. Elders, witches, whatever. Any evil being would first have to find the “stronghold” and then have to destroy the spells or defeat the protectors. (Which would give a Big Bad some nice credentials on being an actual formidable threat.) Alternatively, and the one that inspired the post:
Leo ditched it in the snow.
Like. Demons go to the West Andes, dragging Leo with them and they’re expecting the first option or something and they go 👿 where is it and Leo just *shrugs* i don’t know, i think i buried it over there? and they’re like. what...do you mean? and leo just says i don’t know, i just left it under the snow. seemed like a good safety precaution which everyone wants to argue with but they are standing on a snowy mountain with no idea where the fuck the evil magical book is so point leo i guess. (Demon leader trying to recover from the fuck-up and demanding their minions start to dig and Leo just helpfully squints at a different spot and goes it could’ve been there too. and the demon leader grits their teeth and demands which is it and leo shrugs again and is like not sure, it all looks the same. demon leader throws their hands up and goes what do you mean it all looks the same and leo shrugs again. this was over twenty years ago, i forgot which identical snow pile it’s under.)
Necessary disclaimer/context: the West Andes don’t even look snowy, according to Google. I just always think that Leo hid the Grimoire in the Himalayas for some reason, and so my brain automatically goes “snowy mountain!” despite any logic about it. I still think it’s a funny idea though.

I want to also mention that most places have a prevailing wind, and the desert will be on the side of the mountains that the wind is blowing towards from the ocean. The most important large-scale factor affecting prevailing winds is latitude, and in general, they'll come from the east between 30° north and 30° south, and from the west between 30° and 60° latitudes in both the northern and southern hemispheres. The winds come from the east again in polar regions, but they're not as strong, and don't cover as much ground.
You can look at satellite and climate maps of South America and see the desert switching which side of the Andes it's on at around 30° south, and I believe this is why, though I'm not certain.
reminder to worldbuilders: don't get caught up in things that aren't important to the story you're writing, like plot and characters! instead, try to focus on what readers actually care about: detailed plate tectonics
