I just got out of my higher maths exam and I have to keep reminding myself that rose tyler failed all her exams and still had the best life ever.

I cannot accurately put into words how much I hate exams and the SQA
I hate exams I hate exams so much why do they exist I do know this just not all at once bc it’s ridiculous to want me to remember 8 essays to be able to complete half of an exam and you want me to learn how much physics and be able to compare everyday actions to physics concepts with no prep and English? I speak it everyday is that not enough? Maths… it’s okay but FUCK it’s a lot to remember. French isn’t to bad tho considering I get a dictionary for most of it but listening?? And the recording isn’t gonna be clear and they’re gonna mumble????? Just why, why do exams exist like this
#fuck exams#fuck the sqa#Exams make me so anxious#Stress headaches galore#I hate them so much#And they’re all highers too so they matter#Higher English#Higher maths#Higher physics#Higher french#Higher history#Sqa

4d
bro did you really just say the fourth dimension is time. bro this isn't relativity class the fourth dimension is not time but rather an additional dimension of space. what did you just say the fifth dimension was. no, that is it. i'm sending you into 196881-dimensional space until you learn your lesson.

I think the crux of what makes the rat grinders so damn rage-inducing is just. How fucking entitled their whole stance is. Like sure they've put in a lot of time! And frankly, if they were just trying to graduate, put in the work, and get out with average fucking grades that would be fine.
But instead the first thing we know about them is that they feel the treatment some people (the bad kids) get is unfair. And like. That's what makes it so frustrating when the revelation comes of what they've been doing for the last two years. Because in those two years they have risked nothing and helped no one. Killing rats in a trainee forest doesn't change anything. The rats are just there. They're not a threat to anyone, there isn't any danger. Nobody needs to be doing that.
Meanwhile, the bad kids have quite literally saved the world three fucking times. The number of people who have directly benefitted from the actions of the bad kids is astronomical! And they have risked so goddamn much in the process. They have repeatedly put everything they have and are on the line, with the only beneficial reward they've gotten being their grades. Hell, mostly their success has just resulted in them being burdened with more work!
So when these fucking rat grinders show up and start complaining that the bad kids are getting favored unreasonably, they and we all know how absolutely bullshit it is, because the reality is, the bad kids have put in so much more work than the rat grinders have, for barely any reward.
#dimension 20#fantasy high junior year#also was anyone else kinda mad at the way gorthalax talked about three hours every day like it was an amazing amount of effort?#like im not doing that math right now but id wager if you actually looked at it the hours the bad kids habe put in are much fucking higher#like there was obviously more downtime in freshman year but for basically all of sophomore year they were always on-the-clock#even working in their fucking sleep like goddamn

A circle inscribed in a square covers 79% of the square. A ball inscribed in a cube fills 52% of the cube. A 4-ball inscribed in a hypercube fills 31% of the hypercube. A 5-ball inscribed in a 5-cube fills 16% of the 5-cube...
A 9-ball inscribed in a 9-cube fills it up less than 1% of the way. Yet there's no room to fit a second same sized ball without intersecting the first - which contradicts my intuition of balls as especially compact shapes.
In dimensions 23 and up you can fit a little cube in the corner of the diagram that has a larger volume than the inscribed ball! Which is especially disconcerting, because the 23-cube has 8,388,608 corners. And even if you inscribe the little cubes in all eight million corners, your big cube will still be 99.5% empty space.

the other stupid hill i sit on is that when you have advantage you're supposed to roll two dice at once and take the higher, and rolling them one at the time can actually make it feel unworthwhile, like there's less urgency to roll the second if you roll high on the first one. and nothing can beat seeing a pair of nat 20s in front of you
#like it doesnt really matter but also its quicker because you dont have to do the actual rolling motion twice#and you also dont have to do the maths twice#roll + add modifier + pick up dice + roll + add modifier + announce higher one#versus roll + identify high number + add modifier + announce

So let's talk height.
(Image taken from gamibuzz.com)
So the average human height in our world is a little difficult to ascertain, but in 1996 was thought to be 5'7" for men, and 5'3" for women. Now, I don't think that the devs have coded in the gendered height difference to Veilguard, so let's just average that out to 5'5" and apply that to this image. (Very Scientific I know, I've not even accounted for the fact that human heights have increased over the last 200 years on average.) Assuming that all these characters are set to 50% in the character creator (very scientific) that means the human man here is 5'5". After doing a little screen measuring and maths, that means that the average height of a qunari is 6'2", elf average is 4'11", and dwarf average is 4'2". Obviously, these are averages, so there will be taller/shorter people. Also, I'm doing a lot of rounding and conversion because I hate the imperial system, so I may be a little off. What's the range of heights available in the character creator, though? Not sure, I'd need to be able to measure the difference. Expect a more accurate update when I get ahold of the character creator!
#dragon age#datv#dragon age the veilguard#unnecessary math#elves and dwarves worked out way shorter than I thought! although that's probably because of the average I decided to work from#if you were to work from the human male average 5'7“ they work out at 5'0.5” 6'4“ and 4'3.5”#why did i do this? I'm supposed to be working?#i would guess that ancient elves have a similar height average to humans but honestly who knows#only thing we know is that they are taller than modern elves#my 4'11“ lavellan craning her neck back to look at unnecessarily tall Solas#seriously I'm going to update this with higher accuracy once the game is finally downloaded onto my pc#and that's the last you'll ever hear from me

#David Tennant#Alec Hardy#Broadchurch#my gifs#The undivided gifs look nicer I think.#I divided them yesterday for a closer look at these two <3#But this is much nicer I think. <3#Well. Alec and Ellie would be nice in any shape or form. <3#I wish I had a higher res. What a treat it would be to gif that#And I wish I knew how to gif using Photoshop#instead of being limited to the (albeit AMAZING) ezgif and redketchup sites.#Maybe one day. Doubt it. Photoshop is too much like math! But maybe one day.

you think you've got it bad because you're missing out on 4d double rotation. think about how the 196882d creatures are feeling when they can't experience the monster group's symmetry object
