sometimes I forget how young the TID cast is; like they shouldn't be at the club, they should be at home in bed by 10 so they be ready for school in the morning.

I loved the Chronic Pain!Alec story! Could I request Deaf!Alec and specifically his challenges?
Hey so first, if anyone is deaf/HOH and would like to correct anything please feel free to let me know. This fic did not have a sensitivity reader (though if anyone volunteers I’d welcome but also i do not expect it)
i hope you enjoy anon ty for the prompt!
-
Alec shivers as his awareness rune is activated, the sensitivity a familiar rush that envelopes him. It means any injuries he’ll get he’ll feel tenfold, but it’s worth it. Alec can feel the currents of the wind, the sensation of a demons form crawling from the shadows and the shaking of the earth where they step.
What he can’t hear will be made up for and demons are nearly silent anyways. Alec never really understood why everyone thinks his success is shocking when half of his enemies don’t even make noise until after they’re attacking.
Everyone thinks Alec should be at a disadvantage but he doesn’t think he is. For every mission he’s given, it’s completed perfectly. He’s the most highly decorated solo hunting specialist to ever be seen and Alec knows the clave hates him. They hate what he’s proving, that shadowhunters with what the clave considers limits — who are normally hidden away in Idris — are just as if not more capable, than what the clave considers their perfect specimens.
Alec was supposed to have a team but there is only so much he can do when his siblings won’t listen to him. Which is ridiculous, considering Alec is the one who can’t hear. However he can read lips and while the amount of permanent runes that Alec bears is more than most can handle and more obscure than usually allowed, Alec wants what he wants. It was ridiculous that his siblings expected him to still cater to their insubordination and willfulness when they knew how much was at stake for him. So Alec had submitted a request to become a solo hunter and shipped his protesting siblings to Idris where his parents had gone once he’d turned sixteen.
After all, it’s not his fault that Valentine experimented on him as a child and his hearing was taken as a result. If anything, it’s his parents and Alec makes sure that they know it, every time they try to shame him or push him down. Alec looks at them and he smirks, because Alec lost his hearing before his parents took him and ran but Alec didn’t lose his voice.
Though not for a lack of Valentine trying.
“Was it the screaming?” He asks his mother one day when she's speaking so fast he can barely read her lips, interrupting her and rolling the words over his tongue, feeling the reverberations of his own throat as he works out where to let the sounds linger. Talking is a necessity when one is a commander, even if Alec only ever leads teams from behind a screen with another on the comes, interpreting for him.
“What?” Alec sees her lips say, because she’ll never lower herself to using mundane sign language, no matter how beneficial it’s turned out to be for shadowhunting teams as a whole and not just Alec. They have a rune that lets them see in the dark, being able to communicate silently is a boon, not that his mother will admit it.
“The screaming. Was it the screaming that made you run? To flee Valentine? I remember it, I remember you held me down at first and then he promised to make it all better and father held me down instead.” Maryse is staring at him in horrified realization and Alec smiles, because his memory of it goes deeper than Maryse’s walls do. “I think you were crying. I wanted you to call me baby and hold my hand and tell me I’d be okay, that you’d protect me. You didn’t though, you’d stopped comforting me already, I remember that. Instead it was ‘Valentine please’ and I never heard your voice again.”
Maryse is shaking and Alec grins meanly, teeth sharp because if she’d ever once been sorry he would have accepted it but it’s too late now. “Was that all? I have an Institute to run.” He brushes past her, deliberately turning his back in a way that makes the conversation over. Maryse will have to grab him to stop him and she won’t, because Alec won’t let her.
— “Mirai!” he calls, because while he’s never sure how loud he’s being, his second is normally close enough or someone is close enough to let her know. A few minutes later she’s there, a large tablet and a file in her hand and she’s shaking her head as she follows him to his office.
He signs out, ‘meeting now. Reports first. Demon sighting new’, and Mirai sighs and keeps her head turned to him so he can read her lips as she looks at her tablet.
“Very well Commander, I’ll see that the weapons room is restocked before any teams are sent out. Apparently the ichor cleaning team is backlogged again.”
‘Idiots gone?’
“Indeed. It seems we’ve finally culled the herd enough that we are lacking in imbeciles who act before they think.”
And Alec keeps his laugh silent because his joy is rare and sacred to himself, and instead he just smirks meanly.
‘Good. Weapons priority anyone off.’
Mirai nods and puts down her tablet to respond, ‘confirmed’ and then she leaves and Alec stares at his desk overflowing with so any missives that he’s tempted to set them on fire. Instead he reaches for the first one and grins. The High Warlock of Brooklyn is finally responding to his request and Alec is hoping that if there are wards he can add to his Institute so that he doesn’t have to have his runes as active as he does. He manages, but it’s exhausting and it does wear on him over time.
So it’s with an unfamiliar flicker of hope that Alec eagerly sends over an answer and he wants this to work, but he makes himself focus on his other work and then, two hours later and message with the same elegant scrawl of the first reply flashes into place.
Alec reads it with a growing grin before tapping out a message on his tablet. Mirai will take care of everything for him and he knows that all of his people will ensure that High Warlock Bane has the best experience in an Institute he’s ever had in his life.
Though, considering how the clave feels about anything they consider different, Alec doubts the bar is very high. Which is fine, Alec is perfectly happy kicking it off the ground and shattering the celling of the claves idiotic prejudices with it.

TV!Maryse Brainrot
Below is just a thoughtdump I had re: Show!Maryse? Here we go, I guess.
Really, for me it’s less about whether I personally buy into the transformation—the thing is that the people closest to her in-’verse do, or at the very least, they’re giving her the benefit of the doubt, and so I let that influence how I view her and write her. Honestly, taking into account the fast-paced show timeline and the fact that she also pulled a 180 post-Uprising to show face for the Clave, if Maryse were my mom, I’d be a lot more skeptical of the change.
The only way I see the change as legitimate is through, well, reminding myself that parents teach their children most everything, including the things that hurt most. And yes, I love to tackle all the pain and complexity that entails in my writing and it’s why I’m drawn so much to Maryse as a character.
Maryse, as a parent, taught her children that what they want doesn’t matter. Her eldest son, Alec, embodies this lesson to a T until the end of season one. Then, we see a different side of him completely. He’s more open with his emotions and more likely to act in accordance with his values rather than those that ensure he’s favored (and as a result allowed to live with his family) by the Clave. It’s a striking difference from the Alec of before. Alec’s letting go of the things that have held him back, and it’s almost eerie to look at who he was in season one and the person he becomes.
Sound familiar?
The only way I buy into the Maryse Redemption Arc is by seeing the personality shift as something similar to what Alec undergoes—to see Maryse’s personality shift coming as a result of her learning from Alec instead of the other way around. This viewpoint necessitates that I look upon the Hardened Commander stance she had regarding child-rearing as a sort of persona enforced by the culture she was in, and one that was incredibly at odds with whoever she is internally. I have to look at the Shifted Personality as that Internal Maryse.
This doesn’t mean I like to see her from a “oh, she apologized and she’s forgiven now and so the stuff she did before is all in the past and forgotten!” lens. The shitty things she did are very much real. Maybe it’s a result of the pain others see her go through and the shock of how different she is from that pain that allows the people around her—her children, Magnus, and Luke—to sort of get caught up in how nice this all is, which might in theory prevent the pain of “hey, that shit she did really hurt” from settling in the way it ought to. I like to think it settles in eventually and they all have to go to therapy about it. Maybe more 😈
Going back to a previous point, though, what really seals the Maryse Redemption for me isn’t that I believe it. It’s that her kids and significant other and a guy she stabbed in the stomach in book canon (AFAIK) all believe it. For example, whether I find Maryse walking Magnus down the aisle in canon believable isn’t the point. The point is that it did happen in canon, and if I want to explain to myself why it did happen, in my mind we’re left with two options.
Option one is that Magnus did it for Alec’s sake and Alec’s sake alone, because his husband’s family matters to him. To me, though, that ignores the scenes of Magnus choosing to let Maryse in and take what she said about the ring as true even when Alec had broken his heart.
This leads us to option two: Magnus chose to let Maryse play a significant role in one of his major life events because he likes Maryse. Maryse, who, for however good she is now, was SUPER DEE DUPER awful to him and to his entire kind.
Psychologically, that’s so fucked up. Literarily, it’s so intriguing.
And maybe, for me, the fact that it’s fucked up resonates with me a lot? Because for me, when you’re in these situations where you’re forced to be involved or close to these people who have done terrible things, it’s hard to let that pain settle in. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s there. It festers. It comes back again and again. To make it all worse, there’s care alongside that pain.
And I’ve never seen someone atone IRL for being as awful as Maryse. I’ve never seen someone actually acknowledge they’ve caused that amount of hurt. At the end of the day this is fiction and on one level I’m engaging with it because I want to see the things I dream of actually happen. Maryse, as someone who does that atoning, is the perfect avenue to explore that—whether I believe it or not. Part of why I look at Maryse and Can’t Stop Looking is that she has to answer for her crimes. She’s forced to, by the narrative. And if she hasn’t answered enough, I have my headcanons and brain and writing to maybe make her confront her wrongs even more.

Hey guys!
So a while back an idea entered my head and I wrote a fic on it and decided to post it here...... mind you this is my first ever fic and I'm super nervous about it 😶
Also, shoutout to @khaleesiofalicante for helping me with this ❤
Anyway, hope y'all like it 😄
-----------------------------------------------------------------
MAX’S FIRST BDAY
The doorbell rang, he was finally here. Alec opened the door and saw his parabatai standing on the other side. “What took you so long?” he asked Jace.
“What? I came here as soon as I could. What’s the emergency anyway? The party doesn’t start until later” Jace replied coolly.
“Yes the party doesn’t start until later," Alec said with a little exasperation “but there’s a problem with the cake”. He took Jace to the kitchen and opened the cake box.
“Um, Alec this is- “
“I know.”
“It’s explicit. Inappropriate!”
“I know” Alec sighed “I ordered a Smurfs cake and instead they sent this”. Ever since Max had watched Smurfs with his aunt Clary and uncle Simon, he had become obsessed with all things Smurfs related. So, getting him a Smurfs cake was a no-brainer.
Jace looked thoughtfully at the cake for a moment and then said “You know Magnus could just change this magically, you don’t need my help”.
Alec had considered this option but unfortunately for him, Magnus had gone to Queens to buy some potion ingredients for an important client. "By the time Magnus comes back, the party would have started and everyone will have seen this inappropriate, butt-shaped blue cake," Alec said.
Jace took out his phone and called up Clary. “She says she’ll be here in a few minutes, she’s an artist so she’ll know how to turn this cake around” Jace told Alec who now seemed a little relieved.
A few minutes later, Clary arrived with Simon in tow. “Simon was with me when you called so he tagged along. So there's a cake emergency I hear" she asked no one in particular and walked towards the kitchen so she could examine the cake. Simon followed her. She opened the box lid and peered inside. She looked up at the two men utterly scandalized.
"Wow, that is um… that is some cake I tell you," Simon said with a nervous chuckle.
“I ordered a different cake and the bakery sent this instead. Please just rectify it before everyone arrives” Alec pleaded.
Exactly at that moment, the doorbell rang again and Magnus entered. He was looking particularly majestic today, wearing a blue-green shirt with a peacock feather print on it.
He looked around and greeted them. “Hello angel-blooded ones, the party hasn’t started yet why are you here so early?”. He looked from one to another until his eyes fell on the cake. His eyes widened in horror/amusement.
Alec immediately jumped in. "There was a mix-up at the bakery and they've sent us this. I wanted to call you up but you were busy and I didn't want to disturb you and now we have this inappropriate-looking cake which will probably scar our son for life” he lamented.
Magnus looked pityingly at his adorable boyfriend. “Alexander dear, if something indeed scars our child for life, I assure you it won’t be this cake”.
Alec had an inkling that Magnus was referring to the treatment Max would eventually face in the future for being a warlock. He made a mental note to address it later.
Magnus took the cake out of the box. “Don't worry my darling, I will fix this cake in a jiffy". He rolled up his sleeves, took a knife from the knife stand, and got to work.
A few minutes later, Clary peered over Magnus’s shoulder. “Wow Magnus, you’re surprisingly good at this. Have you done this before?”.
Magnus snorted. “Yes I have biscuit, but it’s an old story involving me, a faerie, and a bunch of horny vampires”.
For some reason, Jace looked sideways at Simon when the horny vampires were mentioned.
Magnus stepped back and pointed at the cake with a flourish. The cake didn't exactly look like a Smurf but it was much, much better than the original. Alec could have wept tears of joy.
******************************
It had been almost an hour since the cake debacle. The living room was full of people. The whole gang was here along with Catarina, Maia, Bat, Lily, and his mother. Robert too had portaled in from Alicante. Jem and Tessa had appeared in projection form 10 minutes ago to wish Max and give him his present, which was a baby superhero cape.
They were currently cutting the cake. Izzy was clapping and hooting loudly, nearly scaring her mother and everyone was singing 'happy birthday’ in a slightly off-key tune. Magnus had picked up Max and was taking him around the room, helping him feed cake pieces to everyone.
Alec took a step back and looked at the room full of people with a warm feeling in his heart. Every person in the room meant a great deal to both Magnus and Alec. If 12-year-old Alec had known that he would grow up and fall in love with a warlock, much less have a family with him, he would have found it unbelievable. But then again, 12-year-old Alec had never dared to dream of having a future for himself. The Clave and its backward mentality had made sure of that.
They were all busy opening the presents and Max was joyfully squealing at the sight of so many gifts. Alec himself had spent days finding a gift for max and finally settled for a blue sailor onesie. Magnus, who always had a thing for giving the best gifts, had gotten Max a set of Smurfs plushies.
He was not as awesome as Magnus in the gift-giving department, but deep down he knew that the best gift he could give his son was acceptance and respect within the shadowhunter community. A kind of future where Max would not be unfairly judged for his demon heritage. That would require changing the Clave from the inside out. And he would do it. One day, Alec Lightwood would change the world for his boys. But that day was not today. Today was a day filled with laughter, joy, cake, presents and most importantly - love.

Hi! I read your Heronstairs headcanon, which was fantastic! Since it's Cassie's birthday would you like to write another one where Will comes to meet Alec?
Omygods thank you soo much💙💙 that means a lot to me 😭😭
Alec was coming back from the Clave meeting, Magnus wasn't home yet since he had to go for some other work. Alec saw Jace, who had burried his face into the couch and was fast asleep. No wonder, babysitting two kids would be exhausting for Jace. Uncle Jace and Uncle Simon were taking turns to babysit.
Alec smiled looking at his Parabatai who was hugging a pillow. He headed straight to the kids room, that was his routine, looking meeting the kids before doing anything else.
" Blueberry, Rafe? Dad's back! Hey-" he stopped midway looking at the hazy figure of a tall man with dark hair and blue eyes, who was bending over the kids who were fast asleep. "Who- who are you?" Alec looked at him, he had the same blue eyes dark hair. "Alexander Gideon Lightworm, lightwood I mean. Nice to meet you." The man had a dense English accent. He extended his hand, " I know your ancestors, rather I'm related to your parabatai who well, landed face first into your sofa." He said. " William Herondale, I- I don't know what to say." Alec said with complete disbelief.
"There's no need to. I'm here to see how my sister's descendant is doing, you've got her eyes and her hair too. A lightworm inheriting herondale beauty, who could've believed that till Cecy came into Gabriel's life. Oh, what would've he done without her. Anyways, I might be a bit late. But I'm here to tell you. You aren't anyone's shadow, you're a strong nephillim, an individual person. I appreciate your skills in archery, your accuracy and precision I don't even have words." Will said holding Alec's shoulder.
Alec looked down and smiled. "I really needed these words few years ago. Sir, I'm really glad to meet you. I've heard so much about you..from Magnus, read about you..and I- I can't believe I'm here talking to you." Will frowned, "Don't call me sir, I'm not that old! It makes me feel like a grumpy old man sitting in a chair by the fireplace telling bedtime story to his grandkids. Call me Will "
"Oh, I'm sorry, si- Will. B-but why me? Why did you come to meet me? I mean you could've talked to Jace...or Magnus, why choose me?" Alec asked. " Your subconscious mind still thinks low of yourself. You've been there for everyone and no one appreciated it enough. Let's start with your parabatai. He was always the one to be noticed first. But if it wasn't for you, this reckless impulsive boy would've ran into some deep trouble. You knocked sense into him, stood by his side in all times.
Your sister, I always wondered how she's so different from all the Lightwoods, but then again, she reminds me of Anna Lightwood. She's strong, again you've been there for her when Max..... Max, that child. I must tell you he misses you the most. He wished of growing up with you learning from his big brother. I know, I very well know that you still blame yourself for not being there when everything happened. But this is a message from him, don't blame yourself, it happened for a reason. He's still with you and he's really happy for you.
Then the mundane boy, who became a daylighter, wow that is complex. You didn't really like him in the beginning, but you do care for him. Now he's engaged to your sister. Give them my best wishes.
Then the red haired girl, you didn't approve her either, you see her as a sister now. She's reckless too, but that's her strength. You appreciate and support her. Then your kids, they’re amazing, look his skin matches my eyes!
And then my dear Magnus, he’s been through a lot. He was there for me so many times. St. Magnus’s home for wayward shadowhunters is a concept from my times. I know the pain of loving someone who’s goin to live forever” Will looked down at his hands and smiled. “Tessa, my love and my parabatai, Jem. But don’t ever give up on eachother you two. I’ve never seen Magnus this happy with anyone, you were there for him too.” Will’s gaze shifted towards the crackling sound by the fireplace.
“But what about it? I...I didn’t have any intention-” Alec said. “Yes, you didn’t you did it all selflessly, you did it for your loved ones. You used to think you won’t be able to ever enter the Silent city or be remembered with your comrades due to the Clave’s views. Everyone’s life has a curse, I had mine. But you had the power to strengthen your bonds. Remember, a nephilim who can love his comrades selflessly deserves to be appreciated, and that’s all I came here for.
Alec’s eyes were filled with tears, all his thoughts from past stood in front of him, he had people to love now, people who loved him. “Church’s judgemental face and Bridget’s ballads are forever, and so are your stories Alec. Before I go There’s something I’d like to say,” Will touched Alec’s cheek and said.
“I’m really proud of you, Alexander Lightwood. May the angel bless you, and everyone around you.” A tear rolled down Alec’s cheek as the words echoed in the air and the man in front of him slowly disappeared like silver dust.

CIRLCE WEEK - Robert Lightwood
Tumblr media
Robert grabbed himself some coffee in one of those beige paper cups. It tasted absolutely awful. But he wasn’t here for the coffee.
He found the usual dingy smell welcoming. The background noise of other people chatting aimlessly about their mundane lives was not bad either.
These were people who Robert wouldn’t have thought he would relate to on any possible level. One of them was worked in an insurance company. The other was worked in a coffee shop called sunbucks.
One of them was even called Blaze.
Robert sat down in his regular spot, the one closest to the exit. He always sat in a corner. He never engaged. That was his only rule.
He knew the whole point was to engage. But he wasn’t there yet.
For now, he just listened.
And he scared him how much people could learn if they simply listened to each other.
Mudanes were not like shadowhunters, Robert thought. They liked to share. Overshare even. Why else would anyone want to sit in a circle and talk about how they feel?
“Hi everyone! My name is Phil!” someone said in front of the room.
“Hello, Phil!” Robert chanted with the rest of them.
And Phil started talking. Sharing.
He talked about his daughter Jean – who apparently was going through a phase. She had gotten married to her ‘close friend’ Abby last month.
Robert didn’t really get why.
But he supposed it didn’t matter. He wasn’t here for Jean.
He was here for Alec.
The meeting went on. With every parent talking about their children. They called them words Robert didn’t understand. But he gathered enough to realize they weren’t nice.
“I just don’t want her to ruin her future,” Jean’s father was saying now. “She doesn’t get it. I love her. I’m saying all of this because I love her.”
Robert could relate to that.
His biggest fear during all of this had been the fact that Alec might end up thinking Robert hated his own son.
Robert could never. Not even if he tried.
He didn’t hate Alec. He was worried. He was worry about his future.
Isn’t that what parents are supposed to do?
“Jean is such a people’s person, you know? She loves being the favorite person in the room. She once baked cookies during Christmas and gave it to the entire neighborhood,” Phil chuckled, reliving the fond memory. “But now…People barely want to talk to her. She says it doesn’t matter. How could it not? How could what other people think of her not matter anymore? Just like that?”
Robert nodded. Alec had been angry. He had been disappointed that Robert wasn’t more supportive of his relationship with Magnus.
But Robert couldn’t help but wonder if Alec worried about the opinions of others. What about the Clave? Surely, he must be worried about what the Clave thought?
“You see, she went to Havard,” Phil went on. “Graduated top of her class. Now she…I don’t know. Who would want to work with someone like that?”
And there was that.
Alec wasn’t like Jace or Isabelle. Robert had always known.
Alec was not just a fighter – he was a leader.
He had seen it in the way he always had his siblings’ backs while they trained. He had seen it in the way Alec always took the blame when one of Jace’s pranks went wrong. He had seen it the way Alec had kept it together for the sake of the family during Max’s passing.
He was destined for greatness and he was throwing it all away.
As Phil finished talking about Jean and some other parent got up to talk about their child, Robert wondered if these discussions made any difference.
He had come because Maryse had asked him to. He had felt obligated to do as she told after everything that had transpired between the two of them.
But he got a feeling that he shouldn’t be here if he didn’t want to.
Of course Maryse would be disappointed. He knew he would learn more if he stayed or came back for one more but oh well....
So, at the end of the meeting, Robert slipped out - quietly and alone as he usually did.
It was raining outside the building and Robert didn’t have an umbrella.
He chuckled to himself, remembering the time Alec had believed umbrellas were actually from a hell dimension and therefore needed to be cut off swiftly with a seraph blade.
“What a load of crap, right?”
Robert looked up to see Blaze standing next to him, seeking shelter from the rain next to Robert.
“Pardon?” Robert asked.
“Inside,” the man gestured with his head. “What the pastor was saying. Some horseshit about god making all of us in his likeness. I say send them all away to some camp where they will learn how to be real men!”
“What about the women?” Robert asked.
“Huh?” the man grunted.
“The women,” Robert repeated. “The women who…you know. Like Jean.”
“Oh,” the man blinked, as if he hadn’t thought about what would happen to the women at all. “Should just marry them all off. All they need is some good dicking.”
Robert flinched.
“I know I know,” the man put up his hands. “You’re wondering why I’m here if I’m against it, huh? Well, basically my dumb wife wouldn’t give me my allowance unless I “make an effort”.
“Oh,” Robert said.
“I know,” the man nodded sadly. “You know. I loved my daughter.”
“Loved?” Robert echoed in concern. “Is she alright?”
“Well, I certainly wouldn’t say so,” the man grumbled. “Named her Marcella after my mom, you see? She was such a beautiful girl. Could have been one of them movie stars.”
“What happened to her?” Robert asked.
“Him,” the man said quietly. “I’m supposed to call her ‘him’ now. Can you believe this shit? Telling me how to call my own daughter? I fucking named the bitch.”
Robert honestly didn’t know what to say. This was…different.
He had one rule during these meetings. Do not engage.
“So, what’s wrong with your kid?” the man asked, puffing on his cigarette.
“Nothing is wrong with my kid!” Robert said defensively.
He believed what he said. Robert could believe whatever he wanted. But he knew that nothing was wrong with Alec. He was his perfect boy.
“Well, something must be wrong,” the man shrugged. “Otherwise you wouldn’t be here.”
“I’m here because I want to learn,” Robert said through gritted teeth. “I want to try.”
The man snorted. “Well, good fucking luck with that.”
Robert couldn’t tolerate it anymore. He pulled up his coat to cover his head and started walking towards the institute.
“Hey, man!” Blaze ran up after him, his blonde hair already drenched.
Robert halted. He should get rid of him. He can’t be falling him all the way to the institute.
“Listen man, I didn’t mean all that about your kid. I’m sorry, okay,” the man patted him on the back. “Maybe your kid is not fucked up. Maybe mine is the messed up one.”
“Marcella is not messed up,” Robert said. “She needs h-”
“Michael,” the man interrupted. “She goes by Michael now. Or he. Whatever, man. This shit is too hard to keep up with anyway.”
Robert didn’t know what came over him. One moment his hand was clutching on his coat, the next he slammed the man against the alley wall and held his dagger to his throat.
“What the fuck, man?” the man yelled, but it only came out as a quivering whisper. “Put that thing away. Y’all well-dressed people carrying around knives in your expensive coats. You’re crazy!”
This was highly inappropriate. The clave would have his head if they knew. But Robert didn’t hesitate. Not even for a moment. He moved the dagger closer, until it was touching the blonde man’s neck so he could feel the coolness of the metal on his skin.
“Be nice to Michael,” Robert said. “Or I will find you.”
“Listen asshole, who do you think you ar-”
Robert shoved him harder and whipped out a seraph blade – which really got the other man’s attention.
“Alright! Alright!” he put up his hands. “I’ll be nice. I’ll even buy those binder things she was asking for.”
“He,” Robert pointed out.
“He,” the man nodded with a whimper. “Just let me go please.”
Robert let go of him and the man ran towards the main road calling Robert a ‘fucking psycho ninja’.
Robert knew he shouldn’t have done that. But some part of him told him that he had done something nice.
Some part of him told him that he had shown a kindness to that young boy – something he only wished others would show Alec.
Robert pulled up his coat again and kept walking.
Maybe one more meeting next week wouldn’t hurt, would it? They had coffee after all.

Chain of Iron theories: the adopted baby
Here is another hot discussion topic in the fandom. CC has hinted that their will be a special baby, and that they will need to be adopted. So Questions, who is giving a baby up and why? I am assuming that this is a Shadowhunter baby. I cannot see either Hypatia Vex or Kellington who party, operate a secret saloon, and take pleasure in seducing interesting artistic individuals deciding to devote themselves to parenthood. Woosley Scott is set to show up, but their is no way he wants to adopt. Every other downworlder has appeared in the future and never made reference to having raised a baby. So which shadowhunters in this series of so many parents, children, and would be couples are looking to adopt? We know that shadowhunters adoption program isn’t perfect; Ariadne being adopted by an elderly white couple who know nothing about Indian culture and Tatiana somehow being allowed to adopt Grace despite the fact that she is aggressive, clearly insane, and famously unable to care for the one child she gave birth to. But I want to hold on to hope that whoever this little baby is their story will end happily with being given a nice home and family. My Theories
Anna and Ariadne  adopt Eugenia’s baby. (retracted)
This was my original theory. In COG2 we learnt that Eugenia temporarily left home because of some scandal no one really wants to talk about. It apparently involved her and some guy being caught in a “compromising position” after which said guy could have saved things by asking to marry her but did not? ??? This led many people to believe she and this guy had been immanent and that she might now be pregnant., but unable to raise the baby on her own. So she would give it up for adoption. Eugenia’s older sister Barbara had an understanding with a very nice gentleman named Oliver and kept trying to get Oliver to purpose. I wondered if maybe a reason Barbara was in such a rush to marry is she was hoping for her and Oliver to adopt Eugenia’s baby and pass them off as theirs. Now that both Barbara and Oliver are sadly deceased Eugenia would need to look into finding new  parents to take he unborn child. Well spoilers relating to Eugenia state that despite having different interests and hobbies, she and Anna get along well. She also is set to become friends with Ariadne. Ariadne who really wanted to be a mom. So I thought that if Eugenia was pregnant and looking to give her child up for adoption then maybe she would ask Anna and Ariadne to adopt her baby. That had the potential to be sweet.
But we have gotten more information now, and surprise surprise, people jumped the gun to quick on what happened with Eugenia. While we still do not know what the scandal was, it is hinted to have been way less extreme/serious than premarital intimacy, and she is very unlikely to be pregnant. I am now hoping that her ex got into a fight with some other guy, she stepped in to hit the other guy with a parasol, and her ex got embarrassed about having to be saved by her and broke up with her. Something that shows the guy was a real loser.
Elias puts Baby Carstairs up for adoption
In COG2 we got a huge surprise that Sona was pregnant with her third child, unexpected as the family tree only lists her and Elias as having two children. Well actually actually the Carstairs family line is tree has parts of it that “Were lost to time”. So something clearly happened. Jem was clearly hiding something.
This pregnancy was clearly unplanned and does present some worry’s. For starters Sona is well past the age where it easier/safest for women to give have children. She was already starting to have a difficult time with it during COG2 when she finally confessed to Cordelia that she was about 3 months along. This means that she will be about 7 months along (almost ready to give birth) when we pick up again in COI. Well in the early chapter read Alastair said that his mother has been put on Bed rest with her husband staying by her side and silent brothers monitoring her. This does not sound good. Several people have theorized that even with the brothers help, she will not make it through childbirth. Now lets talk about the babies father Elias Carstairs. Elias Carstairs is even older than his wife. He spent his youth traveling the world (I read a tweet that said he has even gone between dimensions before) leading special expeditions and hunting rare and powerful demons. This sounds grand, but it was a grueling life that left him physically and emotionally scared. Tragically the Clave does not recognize mental health as a need, so they do not provide any kind of therapy or treatment for those who become traumatized. Like many poor soldiers throughout American history Elias was there for the Clave when they needed his help but it that help was not reciprocated at the end. The only comfort he found was at the bottom of the bottle. It took Elias until he was already in his 40′s to start a family, and he has struggled with being able to take care of himself enough to act as a father to the two children he and Sona have already raised. Elias is 63. He is sad and tired, and struggling to keep a handle on his sobriety. This child was unplanned. I have read tweets that show he is at least trying to support Sona, but CC reveals he is questioning if or if not he can really do this a third time. If Sona dies there is no way Elias can raise this child himself. I won’t fault him if he makes that choice, it might be the most loving thing he can do.
Who would adopt the little guy. Well the most common theory is that Alastair and Thomas would become his new dads. Now the family tree does suggest that both Alastair and Thomas are dads in the future. It also doesn’t list the names of either of their spouses (I am guessing neither had wives) so their is nothing to suggest that they do not live together raising a group of adopted children. Given the way the Cave feels about homosexual parents that could also be why Jem “lost” the records. I will not deny Thomstair becoming adopted parents is plausible, but I am not completely sure that baby Carstaris is who they will adopt. Babies are hard, they are a lot of work, and I am not convinced either Alastair or Thomas will be up to it. Look at Alastair. He is not exactly in a good place at the start of COI, and whenever fans ask CC if Alastair will make any friends she always reply that he won’t until he learns how to speak nicely to people and to be there for them when they need him. Honestly that is a thing he struggles with. He obviously loves Cordelia, but he totally pulled an  Queen Elsa on her where he shut the door and shut her out for roughly 7 years of their lives, leaving her as alone as Anna was. He claims to have loved Charles but the pair spend most of COG arguing because Alastair wants Charles to spend all his time with him and Charles is struggling to balance his promotion, his public reputation, and Alastair (Important I am not saying it was wrong for Alastair to be upset about Charles engagements or to break up with him. I am just saying it seems like Charles did try to see Alastair as much as he could, and Alastair trying to pin all his emotional needs on one person, who already had so much going on, was unfair). On Thomas side well lets just say he has a lot of mixed up and complicated feeling of his own he needs to work out before he will be able to be in a healthy relationship let alone raise a child.
If Thomstair aren’t able to take care of Baby Carstairs I bet I know a long time married, long time Carstairs loving couple, who would be happy to take the little guy in and have enough resources, experience, and love to give him a great life. Hey in the future Tessa says she has kept watch over three families: the Herondales, the Carstairs, and the Blackthorns. The Herondales and the Blackthorns are her and Will’s grandchildren. If she were watching the Carstairs because they were once her friends wouldn’t she also watch out for the Fairchilds and Lightwoods?
Blackthorn Babies with Mundane and Shadowhunter mommies and daddies
(Okay this is one will involve some hopping around and several references to the family tree, so stay with me people, stay with me.) We aleady know Jem made some changes to this line. Lucie is not 12, she is 16. Tatiana is probably not going to live another 15 years. Also the tree said that Jesse dies 59, yet he actually died at 17. But future wife Lucie wants to resurrect him... which is highly illegal and should she be successful she will probably face terrible repercussions. Jesse also might not be able to live as a shadowhunter after being brought back. So even if we don’t want it, for the sake of this theory lets assume that upon Jesse’s resurrection both he and Lucie are banished and become a mundane pianist and writer. Let’s assume they also get married and have children. In order for the TDA Blackthorns to be shadowhunters at least one of Jucie’s kids would have to become a shadowhunter and move to the shadow world. I feel like Luce and Jesse would be willing to let their kids go in that case. That was all Jesse wanted growing up and Lucie is Will’s daughter. The children would just need someone they could stay with.
Now lets hop to the Lightwood family line. According to the tree Christopher and Grace get married (Grace is also listed as a Cartwright so was her adoption overturned and she rejoined her bio family?) and continue the Lightwood line down to TMI. Grace and Christopher are set up to bond  (over science) and many fans are willing to believe that they are an endgame ship. But fans are also doubting that they are the ancestors of the TMI lightwoods.  For one thing Christopher is heavily coded to be asexual; and Grace herself seems to have a very.... twisted and warped view of physical acts. So now lets say Grace is somehow saved from punishment over Jesse’s resurrection or because of her past trauma is given a lighter sentence. Lets say Gracetopher really do get married. if they got married they probably will apt out of having children; at least biological children.
Christopher has a younger brother , Alexander Lightwood, who seems like a much more likely candidate to continue his family line. Alex has been noted to have those dark blue eyes that while once a Herondale trait later become a Lightwood trait. He shares a first name one of TMI’s most prominent characters, and that is just about the only way baby Alex could have relevance to the story given that he is way to young to help out in the war. If Alexander Lightwood the first is one who carried on the Lightwood line why are his descendants listed under his brother and sister in laws names?
Well way back before the CC launched TLH I remember her posting a tweet that said Grace could become an ancestor of either the Herondale or the Blackthorn line. This upset a lot of people who thought that it meant that Grace may have a baby with either James or Jesse. (No, just NO!!!) But what if instead of Grace having a baby with Jesse, She and Christopher adopt one of Jesse and Lucie’s babies so that that baby could be raised as a shadowhunter? I could see Grace and Christopher doing do: they each love one of the respective parents and are set get to know the other. The only good thing about Tatiana adopting Grace was she got Jesse as a brother. Should she ever recover from having Tatiana as an adoptive mother I could see her becoming very critical of other adoptions and refusing to allow Jesse’s children to potentially end up like she did. I am in love with a head cannon I have that Christopher will become a science professor at the academy. If Lucie and Jesse have to leave the shadow world, and they have to give up their children then I want to imagine that child living in Malec’s future academy suit with Shadowhunter mommy and daddy Gracetopher while they secretly get gifts and send letters to their mundane mommy and daddy Juice. (It is the least CC can do for the pain reading about that potential exile would cause me.)

In Another Universe: Chapter 6 - The Bone City
Clar dreamed one of a place that seemed out of a fairy tale, there was apparently a ball, it wasn't a ball room them but it was beautiful, there was a fountain with a mermaid, and there were people dancing everywhere. he turned his head and saw Simone at his shoulder, she said. "Do you find someone else more interesting?." suddenly they were dancing, He looked at her closely and realized she was beautiful. There were Alec and Isidore, holding hands like hansel and gretel, both in royal blue. "Welcome, welcome to the Glass City," said a voice that was not Simone's. He realized she was gone and he was now dancing with Jayce, she was in a slim cut dress that was slit with a v in the front, it was a amber gold, it went perfectly with her short golden curls shining in the light, her deep tawny beige skin and golden eyes, she was so beautiful, he wanted to paint her, darker and lighter shades of gold. He took another moment and stared at her. and as they were dancing he realized she was short, he knew but her personality always made her seem bigger than she was, now as they were dancing he realized, he suddenly felt a strange urge to want to protect or hold her tight. But instead he said "Where's Simone?"
she looked at him and replied. "This place is for those who are alive." her hands were cold, and felt different on Clar than Simone's had. He was very aware of them.
He looked closely at her. "What do you mean?"
She stood up on her tiptoes, leaned in, her lips against his ear. "Wake up, Clar," she whispered. "Wake up. Wake up."
-
He bolted up right, he was sweating, and someone held his wrists in an iron grip, he was going to pull away, then he realized who it was. "Jayce?"
"Yes." she was there on the edge his bed looking half awake, her hair messy and she had sleepy eyes.
"Let go of me," he said
"Sorry," she said and let go. "You almost hit me the second I called your name."
"I'm jumpy, I guess."
He looked around the room, by the way the light was coming in it looked to be dawn, it lit the dark room slightly.
"What time is it?"
"Five."
"in the morning?" he said. "Why are you waking me up?"
"What were you having a great dream or something?"
He thought back to it. "I don't remember."
She got up. "One of the Silent Brothers is here. Hodge said to get you up. Actually, he was going to wake you himself but I figured since it's 5 in the morning you would want something lovely to stare at."
"You mean you?"
"What else would I mean?" she said with a smirk.
"I didn't agree to see them."
"Do you want to know where your mother is," she said. "Or no?"
He sighed
"Listen, all you have to do is meet brother Jeremiah," she said. "Besides, he's funny for a guy who never talks."
"Hey, Jayce," he said
"Yeah?"
"You're short," he told her
She looked stunned. "What!?"
"I said your short," he repeated. "Also get out I got to change."
She went out, he laughed to himself, she looked so surprised by that.
After he got changed, Jayce led him to where the Silent Brother was, surprisingly she was fairly silent, he hoped he hadn't made her to upset.
"Listen about what I said about you being short I was just teasing."
"Huh?," she said. "Please you don't think you actually bothered me?"
He supposed even if he had upset her she wouldn't admit to it.
"Yeah, I guess not," he said.
"How tall are you anyway?" he asked. "Isidore and Alec are both really tall."
She turned her head to look at him. "I'm 5'4, not that it matters my size has nothing to do with what I can do."
"I suppose that's true," he said. "Though it's kinda cute."
"What?"
"I said it's kinda cute."
"I am not cute."
She glared at him, he actually found that kinda cute itself, but wondered when he started to think Jayce was cute, when did she start to amuse him more than annoy him?, he gave her a sweet smile at her to add to it.
She turned away and led him to the library.
And when he went in, there was a man in parchment like robes, he assumed that was the Silent Brother, he saw that Church the cat was pacing in circles looking nervous and muttering to himself
"What's with the cat? Why is he pacing?"
"The Silent Brothers make him nervous."
"I think they make everyone nervous."
--
The library was dark, which only made it all more creepy, Hodge got up from the desk and walked up to the Silent Brother
"This," said Hodge. "Is Clarus Fray, the boy I told you about." then Hodge turned to Clar. "Clar this is Brother Jeremiah of the Bone City."
"Hello," was all Clar said, he looked closely at Brother Jeremiah as he approached, he had runes carved into his face, his lips were stiched up, his eyes looked permanently shut. No wonder Jayce called them creepy he thought, he felt chills down his spine.
"I decided that you were right, Jayce. and sent word to the Silent City," said Hodge
"I usually am right," said Jayce.
Hodge ignored her. "However the memories are Clar's only he can decide if he wants to do this."
Clar didn't say anything, Madame Dorothea said he had a block in his mind and he wanted to know why.
"This is Jocelyn's son?," said Jeremiah.
"Yes," said Hodge.
"You knew my mother?" he asked.
"The Clave keeps records.of all Shadowhunters, Dead and Alive," said Brother Jeremiah.
"Well maybe you should find a better way of keep record, cause my mom isn't dead, maybe you would actually know who I'd dead and who isn't," said Clar.
"My father died, I don't need any other way to know that," said Jayce.
"Clarus Fray," said the voice in his head, it was like telepathy. "I am here to help you retrieve the memories that are locked in your head, we can learn much if you agree."
After more talking and discussing, Clar agreed, when Jeremiah was digging through his head, it felt like it would burst, it was painful, just cold and snow.
"That's enough," called Jayce. "It's hurting him now."
"Jayce," said Hodge.
"Look at his hands," she said
Brother Jeremiah had stopped. "The block is too strong for me to do anything here he needs to come to the Silent City, there my brothers can help me figure out what is causing this block."
He looked down seeing what Jayce meant, he had dug his finger nails into his palms and they were bleeding. so more mind stuff he thought.
"I'll go," he said. "To the Silent City, I want to find out what this is."
Jayce stared at him for a long moment.
"ok, I'll go with you," she said.
——————
"I don't like this Clar," said Alec, her and Iz were training.
"You don't like anyone new."
"I don't like change."
"Yeah, I mean Jayce is totally following him around like a Cat."
"That too, what is it with her and wanting to help this boy," said Alec irritated
"I don't know, but the way she looks at him when he isn't looking... I've never seen Jayce look at someone like that," said Isidore.
Alec was not the type who liked new people in the institute, she preferred things to stay the way they are, and this boy was trouble and she knew it, why couldn't Jayce see this?
"Do you the Silent Brothers will actually find anything?" she asked her brother
"Maybe, but maybe not. I find it strange though, this memory block thing, if he's a Shadowhunter like us, than why does he have so much trouble and why can't he remember this stuff?"
"I have no idea, and I don't like it."
"Yeah, you said that."
Alec got lost in thought, and was snapped out of it by Iz using his whip to pull her off her feet.
"Isidore," she hissed
"Hahaha, that's what you get for not paying attention."
She untangled the whip from her feet and went over and jumped onto her brother, they whistled and she gentle pounded her fists in onto his head, they both started laughing.
——————
Joan had been here for a few months now, she was much stronger she had to admit but it was torture, punishment if she messed up, she started acknowledging Lilith as her mother, she would be punished if she didn't for that as well.
Joan already knew how to fight so well now too, some instructer her "Father" picked out drilled stuff into her head everyday, she trained till her body collapsed. Lilith was slowly getting her to use her demon blood more and she could swear her eyes go black every now and then, she wondered how she got here, how things could change so fast. Now she went through cruel and intense training everyday, she sometimes felt she wouldn't live but she always did.
She still didn't know where Clar was, her mom was having god knows what done to her, Valentine came to check on her once, and told her shit about their family and his Circle and about how it all went down, how her mother had fled and left him, couldn't blame her, he's insane.
Apparently her mother had used the help of a warlock to make it seem like Joan was there at home during the uprising, an illusion magic, and her father didn't know until after he had burned the bones of a father and his child, so that everyone thought they were dead. Sick is all she thought, but she saw her mother in a different way now, and though she loved her, she wished she had prepared her and Clar for this, maybe Joan wouldn't be suffering so much if she had.
Joan couldn't sleep so she opened her book about demons and read that, I have this blood in me, i am a monster she thought.
——————
So they headed out and waited for Brother Jeremiah to come and get them, Clar was already feeling the weight of today on him, why does this all have to be so exhausting
"Why do we have to wait for Brother Jeremiah? Does he not want to be seen with Shadowhunters?" He asked
"The Silent Brothers are Shadowhunters," said Jayce. Looking as cool as ever, he was annoyed by this.
"So is he getting his car or something?"
Jayce gave him a grin. "You could say that."
"I'd feel better if Hodge were coming."
"I can protect," She said.
"It's not that I need to be protected," he replied. "I need someone who can help me think through this all."
He realized he hadn't messaged Simone
"Oh! Simone," he said
"No, I'm Jayce," Jayce said. "Simone is the one with the bad fashion sense and kinda looks a  chipmunk."
"Shut up, will you," he said. "I was going to call her before I went to bed."
Jayce held her arms up to the sky like it would spilt open and heaven would be there, she was awfully dramatic he thought. "With everything that's going on you are worried about Chipmunk?"
"Don't call her that, she doesn't look like that."
"You're right, I have seen some rather attractive chipmunks," she said. "She is more like a rat."
"She does not look—"
"She's probably at home mooning over Isidore. Just wait for him to get bored."
"Is he likely to get bored?"
"Yes," she said thoughtfully
Maybe Isidore wouldn't, maybe he would see how Simone was and they would start dating but the idea didn't feel right.
He realized he had zoned out while Jayce was talking to him and said "What?" Not so kindly
"If you want my attention so bad surely there are other ways," she said. "That are less embarrassing."
"Sarcasm is the last refuge of the imaginatively bankrupt," he said.
"I can't help it , I use my rapier wit to hide my inner pain."
"Your pain will be outward if you don't get out of traffic," he said
"And here's our ride," Jayce said.
Brother Jeremiah took them to the Silent City in a carriage, though to the mundane it would look like a black car.
--
"So when I get this block out of my mind, glamours won't hurt so much to see through?" He asked
"Yup," she said.
She quotes a Blake quote at him, she loved poetry, she always thought it could describe the way you feel. He said something about a band
"I suppose though, you don't know much about music."
"Not except the occasional cries of the dead."
He gave her a look as if to say are you serious? But he didn't know how serious she was, Jayce had always been able to see ghosts and the cries they made were musical but sad.
"But I thought you knew Piano?"
"Nah, that was just me messing around," she told him. "My father insisted I learn to play at least one instrument, so I decided on the Piano." she had felt strangely drawn to the Piano when she was picking an instrument to learn.
"Your father sounds harsh."
"No, he wasn't at all," she said more sharply than intended. "He taught me everything I know about weapons and fighting, about demons, he taught me ancient languages and lore. He gave anything I wanted. books, weapons, horses, even a hunting falcon at a point."
Clar look to be deep in thought after that, she didn't know why she had even told him this, but it did feel nice to say.
"So you aren't going to tell Hodge about the men?" asked Clar
"no," she replied
"Why not?"
"Cause he'll know I'll want to kill Valentine."
"You want revenge for your father?"
"Not revenge, I want justice, to make it right. Killing ones fellow Shadowhunter is one of the worst crimes."
Eventually she went into explaining why it's wrong. "Downworlders aren't like demons because they are half human, they belong here, where as demons suck the life out of a world and leave it dry, there are many other worlds that have been destroyed by demons."
"There are other worlds?" he asked
"Yeah, in each one something is slightly different, for all we know I could be more attractive in one or I could even be a boy in one. I could be dead in one."
"So these other worlds are dead? Is that what you meant when you said that demons suck the life out?"
"Probably not all, there are most likely some that are still alive, but we have no way to get to them or to really know."
At that moment they were at the Silent City, they followed Brother Jeremiah down the steps, Clar was going on about grave yards and asking if Silent Brothers sleep, which she could only laugh at, he was odd she thought, curious, she liked it.
They saw the statue with the Mortal Cup and the Nephilim motto on it.
"And that is the motto of the Nephilim," she said.
"What does it mean?"
She gave him a grin. "Shadowhunters looking better in black than the widows of our of enemies since 1234."
"Jayce—"
"What it means," said Jeremiah. "The descent into hell is easy."
"Wow, that's so cheerful," said Clar.
They headed to the room where all the Silent Brothers gather for meetings, Jayce stood back as they told Clar to stand on the star and started going through his head.
After a moment of them going through his head, he fell to the floor, for the first time since she could remember a real sense of fear went through her.
She ran to him, and saw his arm was bleeding, she pulled her Stele out and placed the tip against his skin and drew an Iratze. helped him sit up.
"Here, let me," she said.
"Is the part like in the movies and books where you start ripping your clothes up to bandage me up?" he asked
"Geez, if you want me to rip my clothes off just ask," she said with a smirk.
She helped him up and helped him steady himself
"So did you find anything?" she asked.
"I have a name, I guess someone signed my mind," he said.
"What's the name?"
"Magna Bane."
She looked at him thoughtfully for a moment.
"Ok, it's a start," she said.
"Let's go," she said. "I am sure we can find the way out on our own."
"No ," said Brother Jeremiah. "I will escort you out."
He led them out and after a bit they were outside, she looked up to the sky and said. "It's gonna rain."
"What?"
"I said it's gonna rain."
He looked up and frowned, it was cute, wait... Did she just say it was cute? No Jayce no, you aren't gonna think like this.
"Are we gonna take the carriage again," he asked looking at it tiredly.
"No," she said. "I hate them. let's get a cab."

Chapter one: normal days.
New York is a city field of all kinds of people. going from place to place leaving their lives. What everyday people did not know is that there small little world was all fake. For underneath all the coffee dates and business. There is a world of darkness a Shadow world.
In this world, we have guardians called Shadowhunters or “police for Downworlders”. They are humans that have angel blood. The angel blood allows them to use rune to enhance their already heightened natural abilities to battle rouge downworlders or demons.
Jace Lightwood Herondale is one of these guardians. He is a tail man with saggy blind hear and golden eyes his body was covered in black marks and a long sword was griped in his right hand. His eyes were locked on a huge wolf that’s stands in front of him. “Torrent don’t make me do this.” Jace pleads throw his teeth. The wild wolf Just snorts and lunges at Jace.
Jace quickly doges to the side. So fast no mondane could of seen him. The wolf slide on the wet grass of Central Park. It turns and finds Jace right in front if it’s face. Jace brings his sword down quickly and blood shouts out from the wolf’s head and now a human ear lays on the grass. “Torrent you have broken the law and if you continue to hunt Mondanes I will be forst to kill you.” Jace grips his sword handle ready for another attack.
“Torrent he will do it” says a girl voice. Jace smirks as a black girl walks up behind him. “It's about time you got here Maia.” Jace says as his body losses.
“Sorry the pack was on a hunt last night. I did not get your note tell today.” Maia replies. Maia Roberts was the leader of the New York wolf pack. She was a slender girl with curly black hair. She did have a aura of leadership to her. “Did you have to cut his ear off?” She asks.
“It was a ear or his life. I think the ear was a batter idea.” Jace snickers. Slow the huge wolf turned back into a teen boy with his left ear cut off.
“I will kill you shadowhunter!” Torrent snapped. Maia looks at Torrent with a stern look and he drops his head in somishen.
“Lisson cub and lisson good you got a chose to make. Join my pack and deal with the punishment I give you or.” Maia says
“Or I kill you for breaking the Law” Jace smirks. Torrent looked form Maia and Jace then charged at them full speed his transformation beginning. Maia was way more skilled and was able to change in to her wolf form in a split second and attacked Torrent her jaws biting down on his throat. Jace sheaths his sword and shakes his head in disapment. There is a loud snapping sound and Torrents human body falls to the grass. Maia turns back to normal spitting out blood. “I really don’t like having to do that.” She spits out angrily.
“I know Maia but he left us no choose. If he head not joined your pack the clave would of sent the order to kill him. He murdered four Mondanes.” Jace stats laying a hand on Maia shoulder.
“I know but it still sucks. We will deal with the body. He is of are kind after all. A child of the moon.” Maia gives a wisale and two very big men come out of the tree line and pick up the body. One slow picks up the ear and holds it out with two fingers. They nodded at Maia and walk off. “Say where is Clary and the others?” Maia asked looking around.
“Clary is with her mom and Luke getting them saddled in at the academy. Alec and Magnus are off somewhere with the boys. Ask for Izzy and Simon there still on their honeymoon.” Jace says with a black face.
“Man how long they going to be in Israel?” Maia retorts. Jace just shrugs. The two walk over to the street where his Motorcycle sits. “You have a Vampire bike?” She asks.
Jace smirks and looks at his bike with admiration. “Yep the Vamp clan made it for me after that event with the ogre attack on the hotels dumort.” He responds with joy. Maia just shakes her head and start off for the subway. “See ya later blondy” she waves. “Later fle bags,” Jace chuckles and jumps on his bike and speeds off.
In Manhattan live Magnus and Alec. In side there home kayus is happening. Max a blue skinned worlock child is running after a young black haired shadowhunter child named Raphael. “Daddy help!!!” Raphael says running into the kitchen and ducking be hind Alec’s leg.
“Wow wow wow what’s going on?” Alec asks looking at his boys.
“Dad he broke my Harry Potter wand.” Max says holding up two pieces of a toy wand.
“I didn't mean to I was just practicing my dagger throws Ankle Jace showed me.” Raphael cry’s.
Alec lets out a heavy sigh. “Where's papa?”
“He was in the study last we saw him.” Max says glaring at his younger brother. Raphael head more behind Alec.
“Ok Max we will get you a new wand and Raphael no more knife throwing in bedrooms.” Alec takes the wand from Max and then rifles both his boys hair. “Go play with Chairman Meow for a bit boys.” The two kids hug their Dad and runoff and a few scents later there is the sound of a cat crying out in tirrer. “I side play not kill!”
Alec walks in to the studies to see his Husband setting behind his disk. Magnus is a strap dresser and has his very own still. However today Magnus was dressed in a old gray sweater and black sweats. His black hair was tasseled like he head been holding his hands in his hair. Alec cross the room so quiet and light. He kisses his Husbands cheek. Slow Magnus looks up and smiles.
“Hey there my handsome man.” Magnus says and is cut off by Alec kissing his lips.
“You ok Magnus? You look like you seen a ghosts?” Alec inquirers.
“Oh yes fine fine it’s just a letter from someone wanting my sirves.” Magnus explains shifting the latter he was reading under some other papers. Alec looks unaffected. “Well I need to go in to town Max wand is broken and we need milk.” Alec says and heads for the door. “The boys are playing with the cat.” Alec says and opens the steady door. Chairman mew came running into the room and hides under Magnus disk. “Playing?” Magnus says raising his left eyebrow. Alec shrugs and walks out of the office.
A week later Jace sits in the library. Behind a large oak desk with angels holding up each end. On the desk papers are everywhere. Some in piles others just scattered around the desk. A few are all crumpled up in balls. A young 20 year old girl with fire red hair walks in to the Library and over to Jace and kisses his cheek. “Hello hottie.”
“Hey there Clary.” Jace says smiling up at the girl.
“They are all in the main yard and the others will be here soon.” Clary says smiling. Jace hangs his head down
“Man why are we doing this again?” He asks
“Because we are a institute and the clave wants us to and I love to see you tell the Console no” Clary responds pulling Jace to his feet. The two walk out of the library and head down to the front of the Institute.
In the main yard stands three other people. Two guys and a girl. One of the men is Alec Lightwood. The other guy is kind of scrawny compared to Jace and Alec his hair was plain brown and it was ruffled. He was wearing black jeans and a black T-shirt with the words the mortal instruments on the front. This was Simon Lovelace. Standing next to Simon was a girl with long black hair she was in a short black skirt that come to just above her knees and a black string tank top with a black leather jacket. This was Isabelle Lightwood.
“Magnus gone to get them?” Clary asks walking up holding on to Jace arms. Alec just nods.
“We’re are the boys?” Isabella asks.
“With mom” Alec answers.
“You guys get moved in?” Clary inquiries looking at Simon and Isabelle.
“Yes we did thanks for that huge room.” Isabelle smiles.
“It was the farthest from our room I don’t want to hear you newlyweds all night.” Jace snickers.
“Oh ya like we had to deal with the two of you.” Simon retorts. Jace was not able to use a come back because a blue portal opens up.
Magnus Bane walks out of it smiling. “Right this way kiddos.”
Out of the portal rolls a young man with brown hair and a average build . After him tumbled a girl with poofy brown hair and a slender body. Once that girl was out of the way a younger boy with black hair shaved down to the skull and was a skinny toothpick came flying out Superman style and finally a small girl with long reddish brown hair down to her butt and a slim build walked out like any other normal ShadowHunter would.
“On your feet and line up!” Jace shouts and the four teens scramble to their feet and line up shoulder to shoulder. “Ok newbies I am going to only say this once and if you don’t get it to bad. I am Jace Lightwood Herondale and this is Clary Fray Fairchild.” Jace says and points to Clary who gives a light wave. “We run this place. You will be sent on missions by us. Simon will be your physical trainer and Izzy will be your weapons master.” He adds and then points to Simon and Isabelle. “Most of your are from the dregs class and one is from the elite class. The one that is form the elite class you go nowhere in this city without one of us! Now I want your names and were you lived before here.” He finishes.
The tallest teen steps forward and with a very british accent says. “Mekyle form London.”
Next is the girl with puffy hair. “Angelique form Texas.”
Then the Superman diver steps forward.
“Xander from Queens, New York.”
And last the small redhead skipped up and seemed to be jumping out of her skin. “I am Ruthie from Europe and can I just say I am so honored to be here working with legends.”
“Hold up this is one of the group of Shadowhunters. You been fangirling over?” Angelique asks looking down the line at the jittery Ruthie.
“Yes this is the shadowhunter that ended not only the mortal war but the Dark war also.” Ruthie adds bouncing on her heels.
“Then that means your Headmistress Jocelyn’s kid?” Xander chimes in looking at Clary. Clary just smiles and nods.
“Guys I need to get going to the meeting with Maya and Lily” Alec says.
“No way the leaders of the Vampire and lycan clans!” Angelique squeals in excitement.
“Umm ya” Alec says a little shocked.
“Don’t mind her. Her focus of study was Downworlders and politics.” Xander says.
“Welp maybe next time you can tag along.” Alec smiles and grabs Magnus hand and turns to walk away.
“Ok Newbie head inside and find your own room.” Jace says. All the teens nod pick up their bags and head into the Institute. “This is going to be a pain.” Jace says after all the teens were in the building.

Hey! Can I request something where Raphael is human again, attends the Shadowhunter Academy and then heads to the NY Institute and Izzy just adores seeing him around all the time and they grow even closer. And maybe Raphael asks Maryse for her blessing because that was just how he was raised. Love your works, they're always amazing!
The Life We Choose (Read on AO3)
It only takes a year after turning human for Raphael to admit how much he misses the Shadow World. He knows that the option to become a vampire again is there - both Simon and Lily offered to turn him previously, but he turned them both down with the promise that they’d be the first he comes to if he changes his mind. Even though he misses the Shadow World, he doesn’t want to be immortal again. That isn’t a fate he’ll be spared twice if he goes back to it, and he doesn’t want that for himself.
He has another idea, one that he thinks about long and hard before deciding he’s serious about it, which is when he finds himself in Isabelle’s office at the New York Institute.
“I’d like to apply for ascension,” Raphael says.
“What?” Isabelle asks, blinking rapidly in surprise.
“I’d like to apply for ascension,” Raphael repeats, clear and calm. He’s thought this through and is entirely confident in the request, even if Izzy doesn’t seem to share that certainty.
“You want to be a Shadowhunter?” Izzy questions.
“Yes,” Raphael says. “I’ve thought about this a lot, Isabelle. I want to be part of the Shadow World again, and this is the only way while keeping my mortality intact. I want this.”
Izzy bites down on her lower lip in thought. “It isn’t just like I can sign off on it. You need to study, and get approved, and drink from the-”
“The Mortal Cup, yes. And then take my first runes. I know the risks, I know it’s more dangerous the older you are, and I know I’m well beyond the usual age for this sort of thing. I also know,” he adds confidently. “That adults ascending isn’t unheard of, and that the Clave can, and has, approved them.”
“They’ll look at your history with Camille,” Isabelle points out. “But I’ll vouch for you. And I’m sure Alec and Magnus will, too. We should have enough pull to get it approved… are you sure this is what you want, though?”
Raphael nods. “Positive. And if you’d rather not get involved, I can take it to another Head in another city and work from there,” he adds. This is the first sign of hesitation he’s shown because he doesn’t want to go through strangers in other cities. He’d much rather do this with Isabelle by his side, though he understands if she doesn’t feel the same.
Izzy shakes her head. “Absolutely not! I wouldn’t trust this with anyone else. I’ll help however I can.”
---
Izzy is true to her word. She shows up to the Academy about once a week, claiming she’s only there to offer her assistance since they’re short on staff, but always managing to spend most of her time with Raphael. She checks in on what they’re studying, helps him with whatever he doesn’t already know about Shadowhunter-specific laws, and practices runes with him every chance she gets. When she’s too busy with her own responsibilities Jace manages to suddenly appear in her place, though Raphael can tell it’s mostly because his sister asks him to and less because he actually wants to be doing it.
Raphael’s always been a quick study and knows that as far as the book work is concerned he’s good to go. It helps that he’s older than everyone there, and more familiar with the Shadow World than many of those from Shadowhunter families, though they do have the upper hand on more Shadowhunter-specific knowledge. Fighting while re-adjusting his instincts to more refined tactics than he was used to as a vampire is, honestly, his biggest struggle.
It helps (as far as he’s concerned) that his abrasive personality and history as a vampire leaves him with plenty of time to study and train, as he isn’t exactly winning many of the young Shadowhunters over as friends.
Izzy seems concerned to find him alone all of the time, but Raphael only shrugs.
“I’m not here to make friends,” he points out. “I’m here to learn.”
“And when you all have to work together?” Izzy prompts.
“They don’t have to like me, they just have to trust me,” Raphael points out.
Izzy smiles at that answer. “You’re going to fit right in with the Nephilim,” she says.
He hopes she’s right.
---
The next time he sees Isabelle is the day before his Ascension ceremony. He almost doesn’t agree to meet with her, not sure he can deal with a teary ‘in case you don’t make it’ speech, and only relenting when she swears that isn’t why she’s there.
“I’m glad you came here,” Izzy says “You’re going to be a great Shadowhunter, I can already tell. You’ll be an asset to whatever Institute you end up at. And… and I wanted to make you an offer. You don’t have to take it, and I’ll totally understand if you’d rather take your new life in another direction, but…”
“What is it?” Raphael prompts.
“Look, I really like spending time with you, Raphael. Not just teaching you, but having you around again has been really, really nice. And once you’re ascended-” he notes with a small smile that, true to her word, she isn’t turning this into an ‘if you survive’ moment. “-if you wanted to be stationed in New York, we’d love to have you.”
He isn’t expecting that. “We?” he questions, following a hunch.
“Yeah. Jace and the others... and me,” she says, then folds under his steady gaze. “Alright, mostly me. I’d love to have you there, but only if you want to.”
Raphael smiles. “I do,” he agrees, and it’s nice to know that Izzy wasn’t just helping him because she felt any sense of obligation, but because she genuinely enjoys spending time with him. He’s thrilled that extends to his time as an actual Shadowhunter.
...now he just has to get through the Ascension.
---
He does. At his insistence, Izzy and the others don’t come to the ceremony, because he doesn’t want them there to witness if something does go wrong. Thankfully it does not, and he emerges a full, proper Shadowhunter.
Of course, in true Magnus Bane fashion, there’s a party at the Loft afterward, complete with banners that Magnus made out to say “It’s a Vampire Mundane Shadowhunter!”.
“You’re not funny,” Raphael says, deadpan, only to have Simon walk up immediately after, burst into a fit of laughter, and tell Magnus how hilarious the banners are. Raphael can only glare more pointedly in response.
Wasting no time, his first patrol is the very next day. Isabelle goes out with him herself, and it’s an easy one with no actual reported activity. This gives them a chance to talk a little more about how he’s doing and little things they can do so he adapts into this new role in the Shadow World as easily as possible, starting with a room at the Institute.
“Would you rather I threaten everyone into being nice to you or threaten everyone into avoiding you entirely?” Izzy jokes. At least, he’s relatively certain she’s joking.
“I’m hoping they warm up to me eventually,” Raphael admits. “This isn’t exactly a… what did Simon call it… a single-player game,” Raphael recalls. Shadowhunters have to work together on patrols and missions, they have to be a team. They have to trust each other. He can’t do that if he isolates himself the way he’s used to. “I can take care of myself, but I guess that’s the one thing the Academy managed to drill into me - it’ll rarely be just me out here.”
Izzy’s smile softens. “They will,” she reassures him. “Once they get to know you they’ll love you as much as I do.”
Raphael’s heart skips a beat at her words, and Isabelle suddenly looks very preoccupied with the ground in front of her as she quickens her pace to walk a few steps ahead.
---
It’s better than he ever hoped it would be. Raphael could admit to himself, at the very least, that the idea of becoming a Shadowhunter was more than a little idealistic. He’d accepted it as his only way back into the world he missed, accepted it as a compromise that allowed him back into the Shadow World at all, but the longer he’s here the more suited he finds himself to the lifestyle of the Nephilim.
He’s a good fighter, and he gets better once the others trust him enough to train and spar with him. He’s also a good teammate - he always was, even before he went to the Academy. The number of times he put the good of the Clan before his own wellbeing, the risks he took for them, leave him with the same instincts to use on missions, just for the sake of a different group of people.
Mostly it just feels good to help people. It’s what he always wanted to do, what he tried to do even as a vampire, but now he can make the sort of difference protecting people that he set out to do even as a child, as that teenage boy going after los vampiros to protect his family and friends. His family may be long gone but he has a new family now, new friends, and he can still protect them.
Once he settles and begins to drop his guard, he starts to notice, to really notice, Isabelle. At first, he thought she was just spending time with him to keep an eye on him during his transition, but she seems to genuinely enjoy his company. They find themselves spending their free time together, whether it’s going out and exploring new places to eat or staying in and losing hours to talking, or simply existing in each other’s space.
“Missed you at breakfast this morning,” Izzy says one day after Raphael oversleeps and misses the normally shared mealtime. It’s such a casual statement, but it catches him off-guard. He never imagines himself as a presence that would be missed, but Izzy misses him when he isn’t around.
He can’t help but remember another time, not so long ago when he thought there might be something between them. The timing had been off then, but now…
“What’s that look for?” Izzy asks, breaking his silent, drifting thoughts.
“I don’t have a ‘look’,” he deflects, quickly looking away.
Maybe there’s something there, but he isn’t going to risk ruining the friendship they have, not until he’s certain.
---
The thing about ‘routine’ missions is that there’s nothing routine about their job - anything can happen. It isn’t anyone’s fault when the demon he’s sent to find ends up finding him first, and his small group is descended on by more elapid demons than they expect.
Raphael gets caught not once, but twice, by the venom-laced fangs of the demons, but manages to keep fighting until they’re almost taken care of before collapsing to the ground, unconscious.
He awakens in the Infirmary of the Institute, to the red eyes and tense features of a very worried Isabelle Lightwood.
“Don’t you ever scare me like that again,” she says, then promptly collapses against his chest in relief, her hand clutched over his own where it rests beside him on the bed.
“I thought… I was so worried…” Isabelle starts, then stops, then starts again, the words mumbled against the sheet draped over him. “Ugh, this is awful, how do Alec and Magnus make these dramatic declarations so flawlessly all the time?”
“I love you too, Isabelle,” Raphael says, and Izzy looks up at him with a smile he never wants to see leave her face again.
---
It takes a little while for word to spread that the two of them are a couple, mostly because of Raphael’s dislike of public displays of affection. Isabelle never pushes him, she never asks for more than he’s willing to give, never expects anything other than his returned feelings for her.
“I know you’re not interested in sex,” she says to him early on. “And I’m not sure what else you are, or aren’t into, but whatever it is, I’m fine with it.”
Raphael raises an eyebrow. “Really?”
Izzy nods. “Really. I have you, right here, just as you are. That’s all I need.” It takes him a little while to believe her, but that trust comes the way everything else did with Isabelle - after she proves time and time again to be a woman of her word. She never moves to hold his hand, or wrap him in too-tight hugs, or kiss him on the cheek, or the corner of his mouth, or his lips, until he either does it first or tells her it’s fine.
They figure it out slowly, but they figure it out together. He finds a simple, easy happiness with her that he never expected to find in his life, not even when he had an eternity stretched out before him to seek it.
He knows how lucky he is to have found it here, now, with Isabelle.
Raphael plans to keep this love and joy, to make it as strong and permanent as possible, which is how he arrives on Maryse’s doorstep one night. It isn’t the first time he’s been here - Isabelle’s brought him over for the occasional family dinner or drinks - but it’s the first time he’s been here by himself.
“Come in,” Maryse says, with a small grin tugging at the corners of her lips at the sight of him. He imagines it must be obvious why he’s here, that he could probably skip the theatrics of the small speech he has planned, but if he’s going to do this then he’s going to do it right.
“Coffee? Tea? Something stronger?” Maryse offers, already making her way into the kitchen as Raphael closes the door behind him and toes off his shoes next to it.
“Coffee would be lovely, thank you Mrs. Lightwood,” Raphael calls after her.
“Please, Raphael, how many times do I have to ask you to call me Maryse,” she laughs, returning a minute later with two steaming cups of coffee, handing one over to him as they make their way to the table. They sit in companionable silence while they take their first sips until Raphael works up the nerve to speak.
“I’m head-over-heels in love with your daughter,” he begins.
“I know,” Maryse says. “I can tell every time I see the two of you together - and I can tell that she feels the same, too.”
“I certainly hope so,” Raphael admits with a small smile. “She’s been there for me through so much of my transition into a Shadowhunter, and as much as she’s supported me I want to be there to support her as well, through anything the future may have in store for her. She deserves nothing but happiness in life and I’d like the chance to be the one to bring that happiness to her, as much as I can.”
Raphael is aware that the practice of asking for permission to propose is a bit antiquated, that his speech is too formal, that if Isabelle wanted to marry him he’d do it no matter what her mother said. But that doesn’t change the fact that he wants to do this the right way - he wants to make sure she knows he’s serious about her, that he isn’t taking this lightly just because he already lived one lifetime over.
“I’d like to spend the rest of my life with Isabelle by my side. And it would mean a lot to me to have your blessing first.”
Maryse eyes him critically, and for the first time he feels a moment of fear that she might actually say no - it passes the moment a wide smile spreads across Maryse’s lips. “Of course, Raphael. The two of you are so good together. You’re so good for each other. You have my blessing a million times over.”
Raphael smiles back.
“Of course, we both know that it doesn’t matter what either of us says here tonight. No one makes up Isabelle’s mind besides Isabelle. When are you going to ask her?” Maryse asks. They spend the rest of Raphael’s visit discussing his plans for the following day and end it with a promise from Raphael to call Maryse first after it’s done.
Raphael can only hope it’ll be with good news.
---
The proposal is simple. Raphael asks her in the privacy of her room - a room they share more often than not these days - just after they wake up the next morning.
Raphael turns over and watches Isabelle’s eyes flutter open slowly, her expression still soft and hazy from sleep.
“If I could wake up to this sight for the rest of my life, I’d be a very happy man,” Raphael says quietly, the words barely above a whisper.
Isabelle smiles. “I’m not going anywhere,” she promises.
“That’s what I’m hoping,” Raphael says, reaching an arm behind him to open the drawer on the table next to his side of the bed, pulling out a small box. He shifts to sit up slightly, holding it out to her. “Marry me?”
Isabelle shifts up to half-sit beside him, propped up on her elbow and looking from the ring up to Raphael’s face in surprise. Raphael isn’t a fool - he knows there’s a chance she’ll say no. That dating and even love are one thing, but marriage, to a former Downworlder with nothing to his family name, is another entirely.
“Yes,” Isabelle says, dispelling any worries he has with a single word. He slides the ruby engagement ring onto her finger before bringing his lips down to meet hers.
Raphael doesn’t think he’s ever felt more at peace with his place in life than he does at this moment. Not as a child looking out for his friends and siblings on the rough streets of the city, or as a vampire looking out for his clan, or as a human reconciling the decades he spent in a world of magic and angels and demons. Every one of those things was accidental, a decision made for him, a world he was thrust into unwillingly, even if he did his best to accept his place in it as part of a higher purpose.
He still believes in a higher power and that he’s exactly where he needs to be - whether it be God’s will, or Raziel’s - and he likely always will. But he believes in something else now, too, in a way he hadn’t before all of this, before his ascension, before Isabelle: he believes in himself. He’s here because of himself, because of his own will and motivation and desire. He’s exactly where he needs to be, and for the first time, that’s also exactly where he wants and chooses to be.
“Not regretting asking me already, are you?” Izzy asks, her tone light to show she isn’t serious-serious, but curious at the way she notices him lost in his thoughts just then.
“Not at all,” Raphael replies, moving to lay down again and pulling Izzy beside him, wrapping an arm around her. “Quite the opposite - I don’t regret a single choice I’ve made since the day I first walked into your office.”
Izzy smiles at that, warm and comforting, a smile that feels like home.
“That makes two of us.”

maluke anon here!! LOVE YOU SO MUCH YOUR POSTS ARE GOD TIER AHHHHHHHHH anyway I’m feeling like shit so just wanted to give you this idea: I’m thinking several years after defeating valentine and lilith and that creep jonathan (and this is an au where maia is alaric and luke’s adoptive daughter and the polycule are thriving and happy and malec are the soulmate power couple we know and love) and anyway it’s a few years after all that and between dismantling the clave and changing the world, magnus alec luke and alaric have become close and hang out together on double dates and hook up on the regular, no big deal, except that thanks to magnus and alec still being very active in their leadership roles while luke and alaric are stepped back into more mentoring positions they often don’t have much time as they would like to have. so because alec is irritated that he barely got to have a honeymoon before being swept up in work and kept away from spending time with the love of his life, and magnus is close to burning out with how much he’s working to make sure everyone else is taken care of, so they resign from their posts and are like “we have done a lot for the shadow world so we are now taking an extended vacation and if you need us don’t contact us unless it’s the apocalypse and maybe only if it’s a major apocalypse k thx bye” and just do whatever they want (they have eternity after all) and ANYWAYS GETTING BACK ON TRACK they are having a double date/casual make out session in the loft with alaric and luke, exchanging kisses between good wine and good food when magnus is like “hey maybe we should go on vacation together all four of us” and that’s how the four of them decide to spend a month or two on a private island magnus owns (a small Indonesian island???), just relaxing on the beach, taking trips to the mainland to explore and have great food, and of course, copious amounts of sex in their lovely beachside house.
Maybe magnus and alec go out for a stroll along the beach at sunset (because alec will take every opportunity to be romantic af and woo the pants off of magnus) and they get back and you KNOW magnus is horny af bc romance kink and they get back to find luke splayed out on the couch, getting his ass worshipped by alaric and they’re like “holy fuck this is so hot alexander” “oh my god magnus i wanna eat him out so bad” and alaric is like “why don’t you join in? show luke what he deserves” so they do and it’s great because hello luke’s ass was designed by the gods. And yeah it’s just chill and casual and they established that as long as the doors are open, they’re down to fuck, (barring anyone safewording of course) and they don’t always have foursomes; sometimes alec and magnus need that intense, romantic, life-affirming sex so they close their bedroom door and no hard feelings (but they definitely get teased when magnus comes down for breakfast in nothing but a too-short silk robe and so many hickies; alec sporting marks along his runes especially his neck, and scratches from magnus’ nails along his shoulders biceps and back) and sometimes alaric and luke want some time alone to just be with each other and they do and it’s no big deal and yeah just warmth and comfort and sex and love and friendship and ahhhhhhhhhhh
*sobbing* you are my favorite person on earth
this ask is so wonderful and ugh YES you are so right about the retirement thing. I don't know if they would Retire Officially because i think magnus in particular would go crazy, like, he needs to be working, and alec too to a lesser extent, but they do need breaks and because they are important and irreplaceable they can be like "we are retiring" and then come back and everyone will just be like "oh thank god you're here again"
also, i wheezed at "and maybe only a major apocalypse k bye" cuz like yeah they have too many apocalypses this only slightly narrows it down
and this is an au where maia is alaric and luke’s adoptive daughter and the polycule are thriving and happy and malec are the soulmate power couple we know and love
ah so like the canon ending? gotcha
in all seriousness tho maluke friendship is seriously where shit's at. luke and magnus have soo much in common and i feel like they could be such great friends for each other, and they are all just... fun. and like the only adults in this mess daoijdsaoj and they deserved to have more time together, be it working together and being like "Thank God, Someone Mature Who Isn't My Partner For Once" or just chillaxing and drinking margaritas and possibly gossiping because i feel like they might not be huge gossips individually (well except maybe magnus) but they absolutely ARE when together. luke flops into the couch and magnus is like "so, how's russell doing" and luke is like "oh my god you will not beLiEVE"
(also ye regular child gossipping like luke and alaric gushing over maia and magnus gushing over raphael and talking about the polycule in general and how proud they are of them all, maia's work as an alpha and rapha's as clan leader and all that stuff you know? they are so proud of them and it's so sweet)
and yeah absolutely like they get along well because they are all great with boundaries and confident enough to understand that you don't need to Always Be Together to have a good relationship (romantic or not; it's fine that aluke and malec want private time and it's also fine if magnus and luke are doing their own thing and alec and alaric are doing other thing, or even that they are all separately doing their own thing) so everyone has their own space whenever they want, all they gotta do is say the word or even just go to some secluded space and have their good time. so their vacations always go splendidly because their respect for each other is all over the place
and i did noT EXPECT THE ROMANtiC StrOLL to EnD LiKE THaT, but you are so valid and correct. they get back and it's like "oops alaric is eating luke out. can we join?" "oh sure i was just telling him how great it would be if all got to fuck his beautiful ass again" "nice"
but also on the romance kink note, like... they totally have some sort of romantic double date in a nice restaurant or something just the four of them but they all Know that magnus is gonna be horny af from alec in a suit being all suave and flirty and taking him to dance and shit, so they're all kinda on edge cuz they know that as soon as they get back everyone will absolutely ruin magnus 👌

Simon visits Raphael's grave.
Click here to Read on Ao3
Story:
Simon trudged through the snow. More snowflakes were falling, but the night’s embrace covered the innocent white in the darkness. Simon slipped his Steele back into his pocket after reaching his destination. No rune could help him withstand the pain of where he is.
He kneeled on the icy ground and took out a small rosary along with a mix of lilies and carnations. Simon ran his gloved hand over the snow-covered gravestone and felt his heart tighten like it always would when he read the carved words.
‘Raphael Ortiz Santiago
Son. Leader. Family. Friend.
September 29th, 1937 - December 14th, 2007’
Simon had been coming to visit Raphael since late January after his successful ascension that blessed cursed him with his memories back. He recalled trying to keep it together as all of the Shadow World’s memories, and the deal in Edom flew back into him. Simon had played with the coin Magnus had gifted him. Once his memories returned, he understood why Magnus had given the coin to him. It had been Raphael’s.
A harsh wind threatened to tear the items from his hands. Even with the alcohol warming his body, Simon could still feel the biting cold. He started his practiced routine unconsciously, taking the old flowers from last week and placing the new ones. Simon would put the new rosary and take the old one from one of the small crosses that ordained the grave’s sides. Once done, Simon would lean back and stare at his work. It was second nature for Simon to end a Sunday’s hunt with a few drinks and a visit to Raphael after almost a year.
“Hey Raph,” Simon started, only to pause again as his throat began to tighten. “I hope you like the flowers I brought this time. Shadowhunters have greenhouses; who knew. I mean, you probably did and most likely tried to tell me at some point.”
He bit his lip and tried to keep himself in check. After all this time, his visits still pushed him to tears.
“I ran into Lily tonight. She took over the New York Clan officially now. I mean, everyone knew she was in charge before, but now it is official. The Clan celebrated by throwing a huge party in the hotel,” Simon stopped again and wiped his eyes against his sleeve. “They invited me, but I still can’t go in there. I can’t go back there and not see you.”
Simon had tried the first time he returned to New York, but the closest he could get without the memories stealing his mobility was standing on the roof across from the hotel during his patrols. Simon would always volunteer to patrol the Dumort’s area when the Institute would post the shifts. Lily and Elliot had tried to invite him in once when they had seen him, but Simon could never will himself to cross the street and up those steps.
“I really wanted you to be wrong, you know,” Simon confessed as tears burrowed into the snow below him. “You always preached that Shadowhunters would always choose their own kind over everyone else, and I don’t know if it was my anger at the time for being hurled into an unknown world or my naiveness, but I really wanted you to be wrong. I wanted Shadowhunters to be like the selfless heroes in my comic books.”
After the ascension, Simon had realized how skewed the history taught in the Shadowhunter Academy was. He recalled bits of Raphael’s vampire history lessons and filled the parts that the academy had decided to leave out. They wrote off years and lives from their textbooks because it would’ve disillusioned the future generations of Shadowhunters. Simon had learned then that the Clave was more concerned with their image than the repeat of history.
“I still think I have a chance of winning, though,” Simon smiled softly as he rubbed his eye clear again. “The new generation of Shadowhunters aren’t as close-minded as the previous generation. I can see you rolling your eyes already but trust me. Alec is whipping them into shape. Magnus says that Alec is different from other Shadowhunters. They’re still not married, but they finally settled Max in, I think.”
Simon could hear the low hum caused by a portal behind him. He knew his time was almost up. Simon rubbed his hand softly over the top of the gravestone, rubbing some of the fresh snow away.
“I keep thinking about what could’ve been; maybe if I had tried to understand you better, we would be having a different conversation under better circumstances,” Simon pushed through as his eyes clouded again. “I’m sorry, Raphael, I threw the kindness, safety, security, and family you offered me back at you like an ungrateful child.”
Simon felt a hand curl on top of his white Shadowhunter gear. He looked behind him and caught the sympathetic gaze of Magnus. Simon, if allowed, would stay out here talking to Raphael for hours. He had a few times the first weeks Simon had visited. He remembered the groundskeeper’s lawnmower serving as his alarm every time.
“Who was it this time?” Simon asked as he stood up, wiping the snow off himself. He knew it would be either Jace or Isabelle who ratted him out this time. They would notice he wouldn’t come back from patrols and immediately call Magnus.
“Alec noticed your bow was still missing from the armory,” Magnus responded and pulled a thick coat tightly around Simon. “It’s time to go home, Simon. You can come again later.”
“Bye, Raph, see you next week.” Simon somberly smiled and turned to where the portal was still open. He was thankful that Magnus never tried to push him to talk right after a visit.
Magnus stepped in the portal before him, and Simon looked back one more time where the snow had now started to cover the new flowers. He smiled and followed Magnus to the Institute, waiting on the other side.
How can I go home when you aren’t waiting there?

Moving Day
This is a Malec fanfic inspired by @jordancat‘s request, so thank you and I hope you like it! Some light smut, but mostly fluff and a tiny bit of angst. Takes place after the Shadowhunters finale, so if you haven’t seen that there are some light spoilers. Enjoy!
Golden sunlight streamed through the windows of Magnus’ New York City apartment, waking Alec and disturbing Magnus. He shut the curtains with a wave of his hand, and rolled over to face his husband.
“Good morning, Alexander. He brushed a strand of hair out of Alec’s face, and leaned forward to kiss him. Alec returned his kiss, and deepened it. He rolled over on top of Magnus and ran his fingers through the warlock’s hair, kissing him like his life depended on it. Suddenly, he pulled away, straddling Magnus.
“We can’t, we’ve got to get up. Jace, Izzy, and Simon are coming over to help us pack up everything, remember?
“I almost forgot.” Magnus smiled. “Tomorrow’s the big day. I’m officially going to be head warlock of Alicante, and you’re going to be the new Inquisitor.” He pecked Alec on the lips. “We’re quite the power couple.” Alec smiled, and got up from the bed. He paced a few steps, and Magnus immediately knew something was bothering his husband.
“What’s wrong, Alexander? And don’t say “nothing” because I know you better than that. You only pace when you’re thinking too much.” Magnus stood and walked to Alec, placing his hand on his shoulder. “What’s bothering you?”
“It’s fine, really.” Alec answered, and Magnus gave him a pointed look. “Alright, I’m a little nervous about taking the job. What if I’m not ready for this? What if I make the same mistakes that the past Inquisitors did, or I don’t fill the shoes of those who came before me? I’m scared, Magnus.” Alec’s brow furrowed as he answered.
“Alexander...”, Magnus sighed, taking his husband’s hands in his. “You’re going to be the best damn Inquisitor that the Shadow World has ever seen. I know that because you care about everyone that you meet. You have the wisdom to make the right decisions and you have been preparing for this since you were a child. You are amazing, and perfect for this. Don’t doubt yourself for a minute, because I never have.” He kissed Alec softly, and Alec looked lovingly down at Magnus.
“I don’t know what I would do without you.” Alec said, his nervousness melting away looking into they eyes of his warlock.
“Lucky for you, you’ll never have to find out.” Magnus kissed him again, and suddenly the doorbell rang. Alec pulled back and went to answer it.
Simon, Izzy, and Jace were standing there, their arms full of cardboard boxes. Jace took note of their half-dressed state and smiled knowingly.
“I hope we weren’t interrupting anything”, Jace said, mischief in his eyes. Alec blushed, but Magnus simply dressed them with a turn of his wrist. He smiled at the three, and invited them in.
“Not at all. We simply overslept a bit. What are the boxes for? I was just going to portal everything to Alicante.” Magnus said, and Alec smiled sheepishly.
“I was going to tell you, but I forgot. I want to move mostly without magic, because this is our first time moving as a married couple. I didn’t want you to just whisk everything away, I wanted to put in the work”, Alec said, hoping Magnus would agree.
“Of course, love. Whatever you want.” Magnus said, and kissed Alec on the cheek.”
“Aren’t married couples supposed to get less cute as time goes on? I’m pretty sure you get more lovey-dovey each passing day.” Jace said, teasing his parabatai.
“Screw you”, Alec said, a grin on his face. It was true what Jace was saying. Magnus and Alec had only grown closer, and he hoped that this career change wouldn’t mess with that.
“Okay, lovebirds, Jace”, Izzy interrupted, “let’s get busy!” Simon snickered at her choice of words. “Oh grow up, babe”, Izzy said playfully.
The five started packing, and after about two hours of putting things in boxes and Magnus using magic to cheat a little, they took a break. Alec had found something while he was going through everything, and he thought everyone might want to see it. All of them sat down on the couches (which Magnus had convinced Alec to let him portal, because they were very heavy) and Magnus conjured up some drinks. Alec spoke up and pulled out what he had found.
“Hey guys, I found this picture when I was packing up some knick-knacks.” He passed it around for everyone to look at. It was a photo of him, Izzy, Jace, Clary, Magnus, and Simon at the wedding. Somehow it had gotten lost in their many drawers of belongings, and Alec hated that it had been gathering dust. Everyone got a little teary, but Jace spoke first.
“She looks so happy here. It amazes me how she could act like everything was fine when she knew that she was losing her memories. I just wish-” His throat caught, and his eyes welled up with tears. Simon was sitting next to him, and he put his hand on Jace’s shoulder.
“I know man, me too. But Clary wouldn’t want us to be sad about it forever. I think if she walked through that door right now, she would be so happy about everything that has happened because of what she did. Magnus and Alec getting amazing new jobs and their marriage being stronger than ever, me and Izzy being really happy together”, Simon kissed Izzy’s hand, “and Jace still being Jace.” Everyone laughed at that last one, and Alec looked at everyone fondly. He would never say it out loud, but he loved his group of friends so much. Even Simon.
“You’re right, Simon. Clary would be so happy about where we are right now. And so am I. To new chapters and old friends!” Magnus said, and raised his glass. The rest of the group did the same and drank, then continued to pack.
Another three hours later, and the apartment was empty, with the exception of the bed and some other furniture items that Magnus was going to portal to Alicante. Jace hugged Magnus and Alec goodbye.
“Congratulations, guys. Alicante is lucky to have you.” He left, and Alec made a mental note to call him tomorrow. That picture had affected him strongly, for obvious reasons. Alec knew he missed Clary more than words could say. They all did. Izzy and Simon said their goodbyes as well, and as soon as the door shut behind them, Magnus pushed Alec up against it and kissed him passionately.
Alec immediately responded, opening his mouth and deepening the kiss. After a few seconds, he pulled away.
“Don’t get me wrong, I want this, but why so suddenly?” He asked, breathing heavily.
“I figured if we are going to leave our apartment, we might as well make one last amazing memory in here. I was thinking maybe we could try that thing you bought me for my birthday?” Magnus had started kissing down Alec’s neck while he answered, and it was driving the Shadowhunter crazy.
Alec’s mind was starting to fog, and the only thought that was really clear was that he wanted Magnus. Right. Now.
“Why are we still in the living room, instead of in bed?” Alec said, his voice deep.
“Good question.” Magnus’ eyes took on their natural feline state, as they often did whenever him and Alec got passionate. Him and Alec made their way to the bedroom, kissing the whole time.
They fell onto the bed, and Alec looked around at the bare walls. He momentarily broke their kiss and looked down at Magnus.
“I know this place is special to us, but it doesn’t matter as much as you do. I wouldn’t care if we slept on the beach in sleeping bags, wherever you are is my home, Magnus. I love you so much”, Alec said, kissing Magnus’ chest on his way down further. Magnus smiled, his husband always got sentimental in bed.
“I feel the exact same way. I love you too, Alexander. Now make love to me, and don’t stop until we’re both so sore that we can’t walk. I’d love to see you explain that one to the Clave tomorrow.”
Alec just grinned and obeyed his husband, all night long.

“Y’all really be acting as if portals are like a bag of Cheetos!” Max pointed out seriously. “It ain’t $2.50, bro! Do you have any idea the energy it takes to make a portal? What people actually pay for it? I can’t be making portals for free. I don’t get a salary from the Clave like you do. This is how I make a living!”
SO TRUE
“I was going to say you should go stay at the institute with David,” Rafael said. “But you are right. You are not a baby. You can stay here on your-”

“Do you really need those?” Alec asked, pointing at the glasses.

“If you are going to be this way, things are going to be very awkward at their wedding,” Jace muttered.
“They are not getting married, Jace!”
“Do you not want them to???”
“They are nineteen!!”
“Doesn’t mean we are not allowed to think about it,” Jace pointed out. “If they get married, we will be family!”
“We are already family!” Alec all but yelled.
“Yeah, but we will be even closer!” Jace sighed happily.
“You are my parabatai!” Alec said incredulously. “My soul is literally tied to yours! How closer do you want to get?”

YUP JACE WON
“Can we talk about something else?” Izzy demanded. “We are not those parents who only ever talk about their children.”
Alec cleared his throat. “Right. Of course.”
“Yeah, we have lives of our own,” Jace nodded seriously.
They drove quietly for a while before they started discussing about their children’s love lives again right up until Jace pulled over at Jade Wolf.

Chain of Iron theories: who becomes a Downworlder
Alright so I took a break from posting my theories to enjoy the comedic hijacks of the letter game, but March 2 draws closer and I have more theories to release on to the masses. So I decided to jump back in with a hot one. We will be seeing more of the downworld in books to come, including esteemed members such as Magnus Bane, Camille Belcourt, and Woolsey Scott, and  someone in TLH’s future is not with the shadowhunters, but as a downworlder. I am assuming that this person will turn into a vampire or a werewolf, as warlocks are born and turned fey usually have to grow up in fairy. Also because (minus the rare warlock) werewolves and vampires are what make up the predator Lupus and we know we are going to revisit TPL and see it develop more as an organization. As always theories are below.
3.) Thomas Lightwood becomes a downworlder {werewolf (retracted)}
When I first hear that someone was turning into a downworlder I immediately theorized Thomas because I knew the found family tree says he dies at 30 and I was looking for a way for that to be wrong. So my idea was that maybe Thomas got turned into a downworlder at 30, had to leave to learn to control his powers, and that the clave wrote him off in their records as having died because they are just that terrible. I am retracting this theory though on a few grounds. One learning that the silent brother who wrote the found family tree was Brother Zachariah. Jem would not do do such a cruel and bigoted thing, he is and has always been better than that. Secondly 10 years after TLH the world wars happen and I cannot imagine that Shadowhunters are not negatively effected by something so catastrophic and wide spread. I googled when the world wars happened rechecked the Thomas’s wiki page and sure enough he is said to die one year into the first world war, at the same year the air attacks started in London.
My conclusion is that while I would like Thomas to become downworlder, if it would allow him to live past being 30, I find it unlikely. I now believe that Thomas dies trying to help mundanes evacuate London or take shelter during air attacks. (Drying my own tears, handing everyone who needs one a tissue, and moving back to the downworld theories)
2.) Charles Fairchild becomes a downworlder (werewolf)
So I preety much think if it is a Shadowhunter it will be one of the Fairchild brothers. they’re just about the only ones left where it is a tose up whom continues the family line. I know Matthew is more likely, but until I read Matthew’s trandformation written by Cassandra Clare herself it could still be Charles. How it would happen is a little more tricky for me to explain, but I might have something. See Charles is on my list of potential characters Belial may possess and turn into the killer. I also said that if he is the killer than I only see a 50% chance he will be freed from that control by Matthew or one of TLH gang. But what if Belial sends him to attack the Merry Thieves when hey are at The Devils Tavern or Hell’s Ruelle, you know a place that also has werewolves, and before he can vanish he is bit by one? Then he transforms at the next full moon. What if Belial can only control human minds and since a werewolf is half animal changing into a wolf snaps Charles out of Beial’s control? Then him turning into a downworlder wouldn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing. He could meet Matthew later and tell him about the change freeing him, then Matthew could go tell Will and Charlotte, and they could make new alliances with the downworld to help take down Belial.
(Is this whole theory me tying to convince myself Matthew woun’t be turned and James and Matthew won’t lose their Parabatai bond?) Who’s asking? Its like 97% that. The other 3% is me really wanting Charles to go talk to Woolsey Scott because I felt really bad for him in TLH when he implys that the reason he hates being gay is because as far as he knows gay men are not allowed to be political leaders. I get it, representation is important.
1.) Matthew Fairchild becomes a downworlder (Vampire)
Matthew is the most likely one. We all know it, there have been hints foreshadowing in every one of Matthew’s appearances dating back to his first appearance in Nothing But Shadows, when he first said he does not like the way shadowhunters live their lives and  wishes he were not one. We know he prefers to associate with downworldrs and frequents their establishments as an escape when his life as a shadowhunter gets to be to much for him. While I doubt he would ever ask someone to turn him (he wouldn’t want to leave Henry or the Herondale’s) as we saw in Cast Long Shadows when at downworld establishments Matthew isn’t always careful and can be too trusting. Throw in the alcohol he is always drinking and something is bound to happen. Judging by that line where he tells Cordelia that he would “like a portrait of himself that shows that... while he stays forever young” something will happen with him and a vampire. Matthew might make a better downworlder than a shadowhunter, especially if he eventually joins the Predator Lupis. That is a care taker job and he is loves/ is great at being James and Henry’s care taker.
It would be heart breaking for Matthew to no longer be able to see Henry or to lose his Parabatai bond with James. Lets remember though that James and Cordelia likely become the London Institute Heads after Will steps down, and in COHF Sebastian said that the London Institute and Predator Lupus head quarters had famous ties to each other once upon a time.  So if Matthew Changes into a vampire he may not lose James and Cordelia for good. His and James’s their will change yes, but it can withstand. Just like Will and Jem’s bond changed but withstood Jem becoming a silent brother.
Bonus) Bridget Daly (Vampire??? possible fey connection??? )
So Bridget Daly. The London institutes crazy,  dark ballad singing, child watching, frying pan brandishing, over all amazing resident is still somehow alive in TDA, and if we keep  reading TLH we will eventually know how. (She is just to tough to die. The grim reaper hasn’t come for her soul because she terrifys him). Lately I have seen theory’s crop up that the person who becomes a downworlder won’t actually be a shadowhunter, but it will be Bridget, and that is how she gains immortality. I love this. But I need details and no one is providing me. Is Bridget attacked? Who hurt this women? Is this the result of some dark spell? Or did she have some downworlder do it to her by choice? Did she know that Shadowhunters   were just going to get moe stupid and crazy as time went on, and decide that for Londons (if not the worlds sake) she needed to stick around and sing/beat some sense into their heads?
Make me cry. Stephen Herondale grew up at the London institute. Stephen knew Bridget. He had this amazing (possibly downworlder) women in his life for 17 years and he still fell into Valentine’s trap after moving away. Did Bridget grieve over him? In another life Jace could have grown up at the London Institute. He could have grown up helping Bridget cook and learning her dark ballads!!! (hey fanfic writers)
I don’t know what we will get from these books regarding Bridget Daly’s future, but she is an amazing character, and her story better do her justice.

Clary - I'll Forgive You Soon Enough
Ficlet #3 of the Ten Days of Atonement ficlet compilation
For @jewishshadowhunters‘ High Holy Days Challenge
Clary keeps the chain going and visits the Loss-Rollins'.
Read on AO3
The doorbell’s ring resounded in the apartment behind the door. It felt strange for Clary to be there, standing in the strange and empty corridor, of a building she didn’t know.
She’d never really known where Dot lived, even before the Shadow World, when she still thought of Dot as a big sister. She was ashamed of that. Of having called her that, and having done so little to protect her.
That was why she was standing there that day.
Maia’s apology had been unexpected, but welcome. Clary had then chatted with Simon and Jace about it, and Simon had explained where it’d come from. Atoning for the wrongs you’ve done to people was a beautiful thing, and Clary had a lot to atone for. Starting with Dot.
They hadn’t seen each other in months. Clary knew why, but she still felt strange knowing that it was all her fault. Dot was uncomfortable with her around. Had she always felt that way? Had she been comfortable only because she knew Clary was untrained and wouldn’t harm her? Had Dot and Jocelyn really been friends, or had it been just a transaction?
Clary wanted answers, but she knew she wouldn’t get them today, and that she shouldn’t ask for them until she’d apologized and worked her way back into a good relationship with Dot.
Footsteps resounded behind the door and the lock turned. It opened on Dot’s raised eyebrows and surprised expression.
"Clary," she said softly. "That’s unexpected."
"Hey, Dot," Clary replied, smiling a little, trying not to appear as nervous as she was. "Can I come in?"
"Sure," Dot replied. "But be careful, Madzie’s sleeping."
Clary nodded, and stepped in. Dot closed the door behind her. From the hallway only, she could tell this was the cozy home of young parents. Dot led her towards the living room and let her sit on the couch.
"Do you want something to drink or eat? We have coffee, tea, lemonade..."
"Lemonade’s perfect, thank you."
Dot walked to the kitchen and grabbed a glass, filled it with lemonade and brought it back, giving it to Clary. "So. What brings you here to me?"
Clary swallowed. "It’s been a while. I was thinking maybe we should talk."
She saw the other woman straighten slightly, and noticed that she actually hadn’t been relaxed at all.
"I’m unarmed."
Dot raised an eyebrow. "I’m not afraid of you."
Clary swallowed again, and took a big sip of her lemonade. She was already screwing this up. She put the glass down again and shook her head.
"I’m sorry. I’m doing everything wrong. I just want to apologize to you, for everything..."
Dot sighed a little. "It’s fine, Clary."
"It’s not. You’re all tense. And it’s all my fault. When Mom disappeared and everybody thought you were dead, I just gave up on you, when I should have been fighting for you."
Dot chuckled. "Not everybody thought that. Magnus and Catarina didn’t. Magnus might have told you he thought I was, to keep you away from me, but he was searching for me."
Clary opened her mouth and closed it again. That did sound like Magnus. Magnus protected his people. And when they’d met at Hardtail that day, when he’d told her Dot was gone, he’d had no reason to trust her with any real information.
"I’m sorry I didn’t fight harder."
"I’m not mad at you for that," Dot replied. "You were a child searching for your mother. In a world you didn’t understand. You had no way of knowing if I was alive or dead. What hurt me though, was when you didn’t even try to find out if I had survived Jonathan."
Clary noticed the way Dot was holding her own arm, pulling at the sleeves of her shirt to cover up something. She guessed there were scars.
She’d learned months after that Dot was actually still alive, and that she had been kept in bed for months, resting and healing slowly from the horrible burns she’d suffered from Jonathan.
"You’re right. I didn’t. I didn’t even mourn you properly."
Dot watched her. "I thought then... that I had failed you. Because I thought I had managed to help you grow away from your mother’s Clave influence and towards the Shadow World, just like Luke. And then you didn’t even... care. I actually waited for you to visit me, when I was alone here all day, while Cat was at work, and Madzie with her nanny."
Clary could feel tears in her eyes, coming over her. She couldn’t even stop them. She couldn’t stop herself from crying as the woman she’d betrayed after years of being close watched her.
"I’m so sorry, I don’t know how I can make it better."
Dot sighed. "You can make sure you never treat someone like that again, especially not someone who sacrifices themselves for you."
Clary nodded. "I promise I won’t."
Dot looked at her, and there was a bit of tenderness in her eyes, behind the anger and the pain. "Good. And keep on apologizing. I’ll forgive you soon enough."
Clary looked down at her hands. She apologized again, the first of a thousands more apologies.
She didn’t finish the lemonade.
