Hey Arnold! The Movie - Bob’s Makeover
Like daughter, like father. Bob had to get that hair color for the movie from somewhere, and I’m sure Mrs. Johanssen was working at the store when he went to buy it. Hilarity ensues.

So before anime my first love had always been cartoons, I only recently watched Hey Arnold! recently (I blame betaruga's art I've been sucked in ever since) and its been a hyperfixation for months now. I wanted to make a comic based on one of my fave fics of Shortaki.
I wanted to show my appreciation via this project, which has been fun and challenging so far (tell ya what my environment and angling of panels have never looked as good lmao). And I have fallen in love with pencil textures.
Here's the fic made by Reinamy (I love everything you've written!): https://archiveofourown.org/works/6896269/chapters/15734773#workskin
I never told @reinamycloud about doing this but I hope they like it anyway. I'm planning to eventually make the other chapters as well but it will take time cuz I'm going back to school.
P.S. Idk who Trevor is, so I just made up his face lmao.

*deep sigh*
So a while ago I suggested that maybe after the Animaniacs reboot we'd get a new Pinky and the Brain movie.
And you know what?
Tumblr media
WE ALMOST DID!!!!
According to Maurice LaMarche, a new Pinky and the Brain movie was in development, but it "went the same way as the coyote", an obvious reference to what happened to Coyote Vs Acme.
Did it become a tax write-off?
I don't think so. He specifically says "they killed it" and goes on to say "maybe it will be in development again", so what I think happened is that new management took over and the movie was scrapped, not written-off.
This seems to be that potential movie the VAs were hinting at in interviews they did to advertise season 3 of the reboot, such as the one featured in this article:
Or the one featured in this article:
Although that's just speculation, they could've just been hoping for a movie, although it does seem like the movie was in development at around the same time the reboot was coming to an end. And if that's the case, I have to assume it was going to provide a conclusion to Julia's arc...

Damn.

Revenge of the Underrated
38. Castle in the Sky vs Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vote in the other polls!
Propaganda:
Castle in the Sky
PROFOUNDLY influential steampunk film that's famous in Japan. It's a really fun adventure story where a girl and a boy try to find a legendary floating castle while being chased by the military and pirates with airships!! There's action and danger but it also has a lot of calm, beautiful moments and cozy aesthetics. It's a childhood favorite of mine. It's directed by Miyazaki
Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie
Out of all the 'Netflix brought this old show back for a big blowout finale movie' movies, it was easily the most warranted, the most DESERVED, and the most HYPE. the Jungle Movie as a concept was in development hell since Hey Arnold ended and it pays off the entire series. Helga finally confesses her love for Arnold and they actually get together (as much as two 12 year olds can get together at least) and the locket that she's been carrying around this entire series is what happens to save everyone in the end, Helga's love literally saves an entire civilization it's p. great.
Also Arnold finds his parents, a story that's been shrouded in mystery basically from the first time the question of 'why does Arnold live with his grandparents' is considered in-narrative, where all we knew was that they disappeared when Arnold was only like two or so to aid a secretive mesoamerican civilization that was dying off from a mysterious illness and we actually get to see him get them back
and they even show a man die by poisoning and then falling into a ravine so like bonus points there

*Even though Spirited Away had its initial release in Japan the previous year, it had its wide-release in 2002 and was nominated for Best Animated Film (and won) for that year so that’s why I didn’t include it in the 2001 poll in case anyone was wondering.
