Hodad’s Hesher Hazy IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. A relatively run-of-the-mill hazy IPA that has what it should -- orange citrus and tropical fruit in the nose, and a body with some heft to it. Drinks with a moderate amount of juicy sweetness, and then has a relatively simple, clean and dry finish.

Remembering Piper Laurie and Mark Goddard

This weekend we lost two actors. Here is my combined remembrance:

Remembering Piper Laurie 1932-2023

Piper Laurie and Sissy Spacek in Carrie

Award-winning actress Piper Laurie has died at 91. In addition to Emmys and Golden Globes, she was nominated for 3 Oscars: Lead Actress as Sarah the girlfriend of Fast Eddie in The Hustler, Supporting Actress as Carrie's unstable mother in Carrie, and Supporting Actress in Children of a Lesser God. Never saw the last one, but the first two were well-deserved, especially Carrie, one of the scariest movies ever. Other notable roles included Catherine Martell on David Lynch's genius Twin Peaks (ABC 1990-1991), Robert Rodriguez' The Faculty, and the Grandma in Hesher.

Remembering Mark Goddard 1936-2023

Goddard (center) on Lost In Space

Actor Mark Goddard has died at 87. He was a MA native: born in Lowell, raised in Scituate, school in Bridgewater, worked in Middleboro, and passed away in Hingham. His greatest role was as Major Don West on TV's Lost in Space (CBS 1965-1968), and he appeared as a general in the 1998 movie Lost in Space, and he returned as Major Don West in the 2015 blu-ray feature Lost in Space: The Epilogue.
