Day 12 - Kotor

It's raining when I wake up, but after a while it stops and even clears up a little, so I decide to try to go to Kotor anyway.

The bus ride along Kotor bay is incredible even in this weather. It looks so much like one of the big lakes in Northern Italy at times, but then in other places is much more wavier than I've ever seen a lake.

Kotor's old town is beautiful, but also almost fake in that way that extremely turistic places are.

I hope that coming here with this weather would mean at least not finding too many people, but there's a CRUISE SHIPS PORT so of course the town is packed (also, at least one ship must be Italian because I saw more Italians today in Kotor than anywhere else in Montenegro for the past ten days XD).

There's a cat museum! It's small and strange, mostly filled with posters, postcards and small artifacts featuring cats. It's also quite charming, and they use the money they collect from the entrance fee and the souvenir shop to feed the numerous stray cats in town (I know there's a story here, I read it somewhere while I was researching for this trip, but I just can't remember right now).

I didn't really see the old town of Herceg Novi yesterday, so I decide to take a look today. Only... It's just one (very pretty) square, and then two different sets of stairs leading down to the fortress on the sea? Sorry not sorry, not going down a thousand stairs today XD especially in this weather XD

The sea does look magnificent from up here though.

Day 11 - Cetinje>Herceg Novi

I am a little sad that I didn't get to spend more time in Cetinje. It wouldn't have made for a good base (it's in the middle of the mountains, and only like two bis routes pass through here), but it's a very pleasant place.

Both yesterday afternoon and this morning the city center is full of children. It's kinda weird, don't they have school? I guess there is some vacation time?

The moment the bus goes over the last mountain and you can finally see the sea, from up above, is truly magnificent. I love the sea so much <3

Also some parts of the coast are just... Mountains. I knew this, and I still found it amazing to see.

My bus went ON THE FERRY! I was on the bus, and the bus was on the ferry, and then I crossed the tiny strait while still being on the bus! (This shouldn't surprise me so much after having taken the train that goes on the ferry TWICE, but still, the last time I thought my bus would go on the ferry I had to get off the bus, on the ferry, off the ferry and then on a different bus, so...)

My room is super cute and right next to the bus station (very convenient since I plan to visit various places on Kotor bay), but it's also... VERY high up from the sea.

It takes me almost half an hour of slowly descending to get to the seaside, and I'm already dreading the way back XD something tells me this is the first and last time I'll go to the promenade XD

This strange sea that kind of looks like a lake but sounds like the sea. I love it.
