Wu's perspective on this has to be insane.

He came here to pick up his laptop so he could do science, dealing with shady people and using illicit means...and now he just realized that those means are ILLEGAL, as in, the law will come down on him if he's discovered, and there is now a witness--no, THREE witnesses, probably six.

And those six witnesses are about to become the most famous people on the planet.

What does Wu do here? He can't ask them how much they know, that would be suspicious! And they took the laptop! That means they're already opposing him, they know he's up to something! Can he reason with them? Offer them something? No, that's possible coercion. He can offer to save their lives for silence, but no, that is threatening children!!!

There's a haggard, smelly girl in mud-soaked and tattered designer clothes calmly mocking his gun-toting mercenary, there really is only one easy solution to this, but he is NOT going to do that!!!

Mantah Corps. is the villain of Camp Cretaceous but honestly, props to them for making the only not deadly as fuck hybrid dinosaur.

Like, Wu was over here making; a horror movie monster looking dinosaur that has scorpion fish DNA and kills anything with a heat signature, a white dinosaur that managed to convince a pack of four raptors to betray the man that raised them and killed an entire field of brachiosaurus just for fun, and a third hybrid that was created by using a bone from the second hybrid and was designed to be a killing machine as a military weapon

Good on Mantah Corps. for not making a completely carnivorous hybrid. Even if part of the spinoceratops/sino-spinos DNA is most likely sourced from the JP3 Spinosaurus I'm at least hoping the Sinoceratops DNA could help them be more mellow.

Also Wu should've learned his lesson the first time when his first hybrid had completely erratic behavior and tried to kill him

Love the audacity of Wu blaming Masrani for the Indominus Rex when he has a Scorpius Rex still frozen in his stupid little office, specifically against Masrani's orders. He literally cannot comprehend that he has any fault in this disaster at all.

Jurassic Park (book) spoilers below. I dunno maybe someone hasn't read it yet and wants to

"Get my grandkids back here! Now!" John Hammond –

John "There are no problems" Hammond is doing my fucking head in. Literally the whole time, the WHOLE time everyone is telling him how bad an idea this is. Even Wu, THE scientist that made the dinosaurs is like "John we need to maybe make the dinosaurs PG rated" and Hammond is like "but that's not real! I want people to see real dinosaurs!" And Wu is like "yeah but none of our equipment can catch or tranquilize them, the dinosaurs are too fast." Like Muldoon was going on and on about how he wanted military grade weapons to take out the dinosaurs in case of emergency. Ian Malcolm said before the dinosaurs were even made that it would be a disaster simply because of what Hammond was trying to do.

This book genuinely is one big "don't fuck with nature" story and I love it.

I also genuinely love the way Crichton explains the scientific bits: so easy to follow and understand but I don't feel like it's being dumbed down for me, I'm being spoken to like an intelligent adult. It's really nice considering there are a lot of scientist tirades throughout the book.

Anyway, as everyone has been saying, everything has turned to shit. Tbf Nedry did actually fuck it all up by turning off the power to the security, so he could steal from InGen to sell the embryos to BioSyn , but you know what's really fucked? Nedry actually designed the park to have a fatal flaw with the security system so they'd always call him and no one else. So when he turned the security off, it shut ALL the security features off on the park. That's how the Trex got out, because Dennis Nedry turned the fences off. His death is far more gruesome in the book, but he makes much less sound I think.

Anyway this is a wicked book but FUCK John Hammond (not in the fun way)

The most essential thing to understand about Dr. Henry Wu is that his career choice of resurrecting dinosaurs has made the exceptionalism of his life incredibly mundane, to the point where he can never tell what day he's going to find himself playing the role of a secondary character in someone else's plot.

So I’m reading Jurassic Park for the first time and … the movie was perfectly casted oh my god. I can’t help but picture them all when I read because when I tell you they captured the energy so well, I mean it.

Also something about Alan and Ellie meeting Ian and “we’re a trio now. Besties forever” the second they meet is iconic. The squad ever actually.
