notes:
this post blew up while I wasn’t looking (the end of my semester was hellish, and i recently came back from a 3-week family vacation). thanks so much for all the suggestions! <3
i included Ecosia because of their financial transparency. It’s physically impossible that they plant a tree for every search, but their profits still go towards projects including reforestation and solar energy. i view their actions as a net-positive
feel free to add more alternatives, resources or advice in the reblogs or replies, and i'll add them to the main post <3

Hope you’re ok with me reblogging this to a different fandom OP, but yeah this is precisely why the interpersonal relationships between the Nublar Six in CT are such a train wreck 😤😤😤 Catering to realism too much more often than not gets in the way of a satisfying story, it’s a lesson many AAA gaming studios are failing to grasp over and over, and it looks like the writers of CT have fallen victim to it too
I say this as someone who really shipped Korrasami back when the 2020 Netflix explosion happened, and as someone who still has a fond spot for them, I hope they don't end up together in 7 Havens.
I liked how TLOK showed Korra and Mako moving past each other and I hope the same happens here. This isn't from a "I think they outgrow each other" perspective, I'm just tired of these relationships from when they're 19/20 or God forbid like Kataang (12/14) being their true relationship.
It's part of why I like Maiko a little better, because they break up. Maybe then when they get together they'll have more experience.
I just think two relationships is too small of a number to find your soulmate.
BTW I hate how Mako kept making Korrasami's relationship about himself in the comics
I get your point but also I think fiction operates on slightly different rules. Like yeah, obviously real life doesn't Work like that. But also when we have a fictional character, they kinda only exist when they're being observed.
Like yeah, it's much more realistic for the people who got together as teens to not work out. But it's not cathartic or narratively sound. It's very realistic you fall for someone outside your friend group. But in a narrative centering your friend group, it comes out of nowhere.
Remember how confused and dissapointed a lot of folks were when it was revealed that Lin's dad was just some random guy named Kanto? Or how caught off guard Voltron viewers were when Shiro married some guy named Curtis in the credits?
Like, I get what you're saying, but I think a lot of fictional romances kinda work like that because they're fictional. Like, if you're watching a zombie movie about a random guy surviving in the zombie apocalypse, you kinda have to suspend your disbelief. Because realistically,a protagonist like that would die almost immediately. But that wouldn't be a good story so we overlook the plot armour because we want there to actually be plot.
Also I don't really see Mako as making Korrasami about himself? Like where did that happen? He had like one conversation with Korra when he was suportive and made a little quip about "i would know you two are good for each other because I dated both of you". That's it???
#korrasami#korra#mako#tlok#avatar#camp cretaceous#chaos theory#jurassic world chaos theory#thank you OP for finally putting it into words T_T#I've been struggling to express it

I faithfully kept my hummer feeders up and maintained all season but did not see any activity other than the very few in May. But now there are finally some visiting, the youngsters. I hope things pick up a bit more so that I can also get some photos. Other birds were interested in the water in the ant moat. Nectar for hummers is one part sugar and four parts water.

Periodic rent-lowering-gunshots:
Fiction is not reality.
You can enjoy things in fiction that would be awful in the real world. Like playing a murderhobo in a game! In the real world, being or supporting a murderer-thief would be pretty damn awful, while in the game it's just good fun. Same with anything else you choose to do with the pixels on the screen, like kinks that don't affect anyone real, so they're okay in fiction, but would be pretty damn bad in real life.
No one else is responsible for your online experience. They are required not to harass you, but they are not and never will be obligated to not post about ships, kinks, or tropes you dislike just to avoid you seeing them. It's up to you to blacklist words or phrases, block tags, or even block users as needed to avoid seeing content that upsets you.
No one can force you to read anything against your consent. Any content you don't like seeing can be instantly avoided by closing out of the offending post/fic.
You are not owed an online experience free of discomfort.
Nothing that happens in your imagination can ever make you a bad person. Words you write or read about fictional characters will never make you a bad person.
The claim that media consumption influences real-life behavior is intellectually dishonest and serves only to excuse the behavior of real offenders.
Fiction is a safe way to explore horrifying or confusing concepts. Therapists agree that fiction, even (or especially) about taboo topics is a good coping mechanism, especially, but not exclusively, for trauma survivors. Fiction is to adults what play therapy is to children. This doesn't stop being true if the work in question is of a sexual nature.
Sex isn't an inherently worse or better motivation than anything else. A work written to create feelings of arousal isn't dirty, shameful, or in any way less pure than works written to entertain, provoke moral questions, or for other reasons. And worth noting is that multiple purposes can exist in the same story, especially fanfiction.
You aren't entitled to an explanation for why someone reads, writes, or otherwise enjoys certain works, kinks, tropes, ships, etc.

Pterosaurs ate plants, big news! Ground breaking news changing what is largely thought about them! Read all about it! Click the link! Big splash!
Genuinely can't wait for a Jurassic World film to feature a crowd terrified of the dinosaur then the Pterosaur just lowers it's head and eats a plant largely ignoring them. Stunning a certain paleontologist (or a different one depending if the admirer of dinosaurs isn't in the movie) who stares in awe!
Or a tapejarid grinding a fruit in the background of a scene in a dinosaur focused TV series.
