fear not good friend because i have come PREPARED WITH EVERYTHING to feed each one of those ideas!!! all packed into one au!!!

it's kinda a big mush of everything i enjoy rn— the hybrid / sense of dread aspect of sweet tooth, the underlying corruption and politics behind swellview and rays job as a hero as a whole with unincorporated county of swellview, lowkey tlou vibes (but also highkey yaelokre vibes to me too), it's just like AGRGRHGHH BUT ANYWAYS

ok so it's based kinda off of a fix called unincorporated county of swellview, but also inspired off of sweet tooth, and also loosely inspired by the last of us

ray manchester is a government employee

which is obvious— as a hero, he works under the influence of the mayor of swellview, for the greater swellview county. and, to an extent, for the government of the five quint cities (rivalton and bordertown, adjacent city, neighborville, and swellview).

as a result of being a hero, ray is forced to perform different sorts of favors for the mayor in order to keep him on top. at some point, he is asked to assist with a third, different kind of favor. not just for the mayor, but to directly assist the quint city government. as a lab rat child—because ever since carl manchester accidentally made his child indestructible, why wouldn't he conduct experiments to make sure he stays that way?—who better to ask about what to do with these new findings than ray himself! besides, these new findings aren't just findings, they're people. people that the quint city government is collectively banding together to kidnap and use for their "new" discovery; the side effects of the trans molecular densitizer when used on other humans beings

originally made to make unbreakable glass, the machine made ray manchester the world's first completely invincible man. and by making him a hero, of course the government wanted to know if they could do it with other people. turns out, they can't. but the amount of radiation and chemical shit pumped through the bloodstream during those moments in the densitizer is enough to alter the chemical composition of any human being who goes through it. giving them freaky abilities and features. and carl manchester knew this— of course he did, because he'd done it himself with a bunch of different people a dozen times after ray. tweaking it and fixing it to make whoever went through it only indestructible and not have some weird, off putting physical tie to remember the experience by for the rest of their lives. it was a fail, ray was just a miracle. but that's not how these higher ups viewed that.

some of those abilities were, indeed, completely useless, and some were incredibly useful for the government. especially in this time of crisis— the world is on a cusp of a war the quint cities started due to bad negotiations and treaties with foreign nations. nobody wants to fight in that war, and those who do aren't skilled enough to last. but people like these are, people who are chemically altered to harbor animalistic features. sharp claws, animal ears to hear long distances. and it's exactly why they ask carl manchester to alter the densitizer for soley this purpose, and for ray to supervise the process for quality assurance. oh, and to conduct tests on these super humans, to make sure they're indestructible and that their abilities are useful enough to keep them around for. if not, they'll probably just put them back through a molecular transducer and try again with someone else.

ray is fucking outraged when the mayor tells him everything. he has to keep it a secret and he isn't happy about it at all. it's the only time he takes his public presence and uses it in direct opposition to the government he's under rather than working with it, because he would rather die than have to supervise over the same torture he went through being endured into others. who wouldn't?

ray isn't sure what keeps him from not quitting his job as capitan man as he starts publicly spilling secrets about the five quint cities and the greater swellview county, "a place where nothing ever happens". he starts small and works his way up through public speeches, grand openings, and even social media posts soley based around exposing the mayor. because he won't stand for this— as a protector of swellview, this is the only way to protect his citizens as he sees fit

two months later, ray manchester goes missing without a trace. all posts made contradicting the quint city government are taken down. people who speak up about it go missing too— it's like they're trying to pretend ray never existed

five months later, the boom happens & nuclear warfare practically destroys the world

a year later, hybrid children are born (supposedly) from the surviving mothers. without explanation.

ollie and sovilo— who used to work for ray behind the scenes before the world began dismantling itself and before ray went missing—are convinced there's a greater force acting behind all of this. ray's dissaperance had something to do with all of this, and if he's still alive out there, he has every answer they seek. but with the fall of technology, it's increasingly harder to get there than before. all his hints that ray could have possibly dropped publicly that could help find him were only documented through video captures, and those are now lost to nuclear explosion upon nuclear explosion. it all eradicated technology and the internet as a whole— there's practically no use in trying to find someone to fix it, especially with a good 3/4ths of the population dead. if that information only found on a device wasnt truly lost and unrecoverable, the only people who could probably provide the duo with it are probably dead already

factions begin to rise in the coming years after the end of the world at large. the last men, the harbingers. all factions that connect to ray somehow—all that connect to the Mayor somehow, because it has to— but that man still being alive is just an unproven rumor nowadays and there's no way for ollie or sovi or anyone to know for sure unless they go looking for both the mayor and ray

the only people they could possibly turn to for assistance with that were henry, charlotte, jasper, and schwoz. a painstakingly long trip to dystopia which brought about hundreds of different challenges for the duo brings up nothing. they're all dead— dead long before they could have even thought of reaching them. radiation poisoning is a bitch, and they probably died without knowing who was trying to find them at all. but, in their wake— or rather, in mainly schwoz's wake—they leave clues. clues to these groups of children, and to a whole different faction. clues that point towards ray, and all they have to do is follow them

Summary: In which Kid Danger finds his soulmate in a rough wall dog. Will she give up her status on the team for her soulmate or will her soulmate force her away from him in an attempt to keep his identity hidden.

P.S. in this one Veronika is just a friend of y/n instead of being the love interest obviously

Kid Dangers point of view:

The plan was going as Captain Man and Kid Danger had planned, that was until Henry had to shoot the tracking device to "prove" he was not with Captain Man anymore. But Jasper had proved to be a worthy substitute.

The Wall Dogs had brung him to the Old Maple Grill to meet Van Del so Kid Danger could become a permanent member.

Henry was so nervous while walking to the hide out he was twirling his soulmates hair out of pure habit. He hoped that they could feel him twirling it but no one he knows has met their soulmate, only settled for someone "good enough". It was almost impossible to find your soulmate seeing as there are 8 billion people on earth. Most people gave up on it.

He walked in to see a girl punching the boxing bag in the corner of the room. Van Del was sitting in the corner of the room near a big pot of paint he seemed to be mixing.

After hearing Van Del yell out who was here the girl immediately turned to the group. I then got a good look at her, she had beautiful hair but what really caught my attention was the streak of dirty blonde in her hair. That same color in her hair matched the one streak in my own.

I was distracted the entire time Van Del was speaking until he said something to the girl. "Y/n get over here and show Mr. Danger around." He said gesturing towards me.

Y/n pov:

I wasn't allowed on this mission, something about needing to be less risky or whatever. I hear Veronika yell to my dad about who they found? What was she on about?

I look over and freeze for about 2 seconds. It's Kid Danger, holy shit. He's even hotter in person. Wait why is he here? Shouldn't he be arresting us? We lock eyes and that's when I see it. The very obvious streak of soulmate hair. It looks like mine, wait but that can't be anyone can have the same color hair as me... right?

My dad tells me to show him around and my heart skips a beat. I walk over to him masking my anxiety. "Hey kiddo, follow me." I say teasingly, I have to keep my friends entertained and act tough. If they ever found I liked him I would never live it down.

Kid Danger just stares at me like I've given him 90 kittens. Why is he staring at me like that fuck that's attractive. "You're beautiful." If anything that was the one thing I never thought I would hear from Kid Danger. All my friends burst into laughs with Veronika pushing me closer to him.

I didn't wanna look like I was embarrassed by his comment so I cocky replied "I could listen to you complimenting me all day, if you'd like to continue pretty boy." The surrounding area filled with oooo's and woah's along with some laughs. Mostly coming from the boys of the group, t-paint, two canz, and some others. At his Kid Danger blushed. Omg he blushed I can't believe he's blushing. "Follow me." I say putting my hand under his chin slowly pulling him towards me.

Henry's pov:

She's beautiful, I can't do this, I don't wanna go through with it! She's my soulmate but she's a criminal even if they refuse to call themselves criminals they still are. She's supposed to be my enemy. Maybe maybe it's not true. Maybe it's a coincidence. Oh what am I kidding she's the one, my one. I can feel it. Oh this is bad this is really bad.

After she shows me around she brings me back to Van Del. He says that I need to prove I belong here. "What do you mean? Prove I belong?" I ask suspiciously. "You have to get the mark of the Wall Dogs." y/n says like it was obvious.

y/n pov:

My dad does the test with the melon showing how it will sear into his flesh, and the kid gets a little squirmy. "Now hold out your arm." "Wait can't I just do that to a melon or something?" He's starting to sound panicked now. "What about if I swear on a bible or something."

Just then part of Captain Man busts through the door. "Kid Danger, prove your loyalty to us!" Van Del yells at Kid Danger but the only emotion I see written on his face is... relief. I knew it was too good to be true that I would find my soulmate and he'd be ok with my forced lifestyle. "I only have one thing to say to you!" Kid Danger yells to Captain Man but then he bursts into a smile, "I am sooo happy you're here!" he says running over to his partner. He then explains his entire plan to trick us and they start trying to arrest us.

"Shit" I say trying to make a run for it with Veronika. Kid Danger blocks the exit and our only way out. Veronika turns around to look for another exit and instead joins in the fight with the other Wall Dogs leaving me and my soulmate alone. "Just let me go please." I plead with the superhero. He sighs and looks at the ceiling. "What are you doing?" I ask because he looks stupid just staring at the ceiling instead of answering my damn question. "I really hope you don't escape while I look at this super cool ceiling." He says. I get the hint and run past him, only to turn around and kiss his cheek and whisper to him to meet me by the Hollywood sign before making my escape.

I turn around when I hear footsteps. "Hey it's me." Kid Danger says trying to not get hit for sneaking up on me. "So why'd you let me go?" "Because you're obviously my soulmate." He says touching his soulmate's hair color. "Could be a coincidence." I say sitting down on one of the big rocks. "Wanna test that theory?" "How?" "Like this." He says before leaning in and kissing me.

It was pure magic and you could even feel it in the air. There was absolutely no way we were not soulmates from the way it felt. It was so, right.

So like. It takes place after mighty med but like middle of Henry danger cuz. Yeah idk that’s what I want.

Basically, mighty med doesn’t blow up like EF says it does bc uhm no!!!! And Oliver and Kaz are still working there for a while with their powers after successfully detaining Oliver’s mom. (Horace becomes Oliver’s legal guardian because plot reasons idk I make the story I make the rules)

ANYWAY. So w Henry and Ray and the other crazy guys, Henry keeps almost DYING and Ray is like “wow. That’s not good!” And they can’t take him to any superhero hospitals because for whatever fucking reason the closest one to swellview IS mighty med. and that’s all the way in Philadelphia.

So he calls up mighty med and is like “Hey pookies could we get like a personal doctor or something so my sidekick doesn’t die after every battle 😊😊😊😊” and mighty med is like “okay!” And they send over silly little Oliver.

At the same time that Oliver gets shipped off to swellview, Davenport industries is like “hey lmao let’s start a superhero team!” So they request to have Oliver, Kaz and Skylar join. Unfortunately, because the hospital wants Oliver to go to swellview (and partly because Oliver’s not so sure he wants to be fighting villains again after the whole thing w his mom), only Kaz and Skylar go, splitting them up 👎

So he’s just kinda there now, working under both Ray and mighty med as just, a personal doctor. He’s very not okay because he’s away from his bestest friends in the world and he still isn’t fully healed from the whole evil mom thing.

That’s. Pretty much it. It’s just Henry danger but Oliver is there helping out sometimes :)

like idk i know the kinda general consensus is that afton is a more interesting character when he actually has the whole family motive and that "evil just for the sake of it" is boring but i just. find him infinitely more interesting as a terrible person legitimately unable to truly care about anyone but himself that sees his own children as absolutely nothing but tools for his own gain. it's not even "evil for the sake of it" either like he HAS motives?? blud is terrified of dying and obsessed with being better than a certain old friend, to keep it short
