Title: Lights, Camera, Chemistry

You stood in front of the massive poster of the film you’d been working on for the past three months with Jace Norman. The cameras and microphones from the press swarmed around the two of you, waiting for the pre-screening interview.

And you were all smiles. Fake smiles.

“Jace, Y/N, you two have such an incredible dynamic on screen,” the interviewer gushed, shoving the mic in your direction. “What’s it like working together? It looks like you two have a lot of fun on set.”

Jace, who stood beside you, grinned with that annoyingly perfect smile of his. “Oh yeah, we have a blast,” he said smoothly.

You clenched your jaw but quickly plastered on your own forced smile. “Totally. Jace is… great to work with. Super professional.”

The interviewer tilted her head, noticing the slight hesitation in your voice but didn’t press. “And the chemistry? It’s electric. Was that something you two worked on beforehand or did it just come naturally?”

Naturally? Yeah, no.

“It’s all in the script,” you replied quickly, but Jace cut in.

“She’s being modest. Y/N makes it easy to play off of. She’s got this energy that’s hard to match.”

You turned your head toward him, your smile tightening. Was that supposed to be a compliment, or was he subtly calling you a handful?

“Aw, thanks, Jace. You’re such a team player,” you said with a hint of sarcasm only he would pick up on.

The interviewer didn’t seem to notice, moving on to another question, but you could feel Jace shooting you a sidelong glance. It was the same look he’d been giving you ever since you got cast in this movie—a mix of annoyance and challenge, like he was just waiting for you to mess up.

After the interview, you barely waited for the cameras to stop rolling before storming back to your shared trailer. Jace followed close behind.

“You’re such a hypocrite,” you snapped, spinning around to face him the second the door shut behind you.

Jace raised his hands defensively, his signature smug expression still intact. “Me? What did I do now?”

“Oh, don’t play dumb,” you fired back, crossing your arms. “All that fake praise out there? ‘Y/N’s got this energy’—give me a break. You’ve been nothing but condescending to me since day one!”

“Condescending?” He scoffed, taking a step closer. “You’re the one who acts like you’re too good to be here. You roll your eyes at everything I say and make it impossible to work with you!”

“Maybe I roll my eyes because you never take anything seriously!” you shot back.

“Maybe I wouldn’t have to if you didn’t act like this was some Oscar-winning masterpiece!”

You stared at him, breathing heavily, the tension thick between you. It had been building like this for weeks—every argument, every sarcastic comment, every scene where you had to pretend to like each other. And now it was spilling over, the heat of it filling the tiny space of the trailer.

“You’re impossible,” you muttered, shaking your head.

“And you’re exhausting,” he countered, his voice low.

You didn’t even realize how close he’d gotten until now. His brown eyes bore into yours, and for a moment, neither of you said a word. The air felt heavy, charged with something you couldn’t quite name.

Before you could think better of it, his hand was on your waist, pulling you closer, and his lips crashed against yours.

It wasn’t soft or sweet—it was messy and intense, like both of you were pouring all that pent-up frustration into the kiss. Your hands gripped his shirt, pulling him closer, as if you could finally let out all the emotions you’d been holding back.

When you finally broke apart, both of you were breathing hard.

“I hate you,” you whispered, though the words carried no heat.

“Yeah?” Jace smirked, his voice still breathless. “Then why’d you kiss me back?”

You glared at him, though your lips were already curving into a smirk of your own. “Shut up, Norman.”

And then you kissed him again your body moving closer to his, as his hands moved from your waist to your neck increasing the pressure his lips had locked on yours. He pulled you up and naturally, you pulled your legs around his waist as he took you inside your trailer, butterflies fluttering within you that you tried to keep down. This feeling has never had a place within you. Lust?Love?Joy? whatever it was you wanted to keep it forever.

(these are like a mix of just him as a person and like what getting into a relationship would be like)

as friends

he would be so caring and nice, but equally as teasing. if you two work together, there would be late nights patching him up from being kid danger. if not, you'd still be patching him up, just always telling him that he can tell you when he's ready, making sure he's comfortable. hanging out with him would be full of playing video games and watching videos. sometimes you would even cook together or just lay in his bed napping or watching tv together.

how he asks you out

he'd definitely want to do it on his own, with a lot of convincing from ray, jasper, and charlotte. he'd ask them not to interfere, telling them that he can do it on his own. once he plans some things, he finally asks. it's one of those times you're laying there watching tv, just lazing with him in his bed. he pauses the tv, wanting your full attention. he sits up, causing you to do the same. he stutters and messes himself up multiple times, but he gets his point across. of course you say yes, blushing and smiling big.

the date

doesn't go how he planned at all. you went to get ice cream, but while walking there, you watch someone get mugged. you urge him to go help, insisting that that elderly woman is more important. you hold his ice cream, leaning on the wall beside you. he comes back to a horrible scene. some bastard hitting on you and not taking 'no' for an answer. he ends up in a fight with the man, chasing him off pretty quick. he apologizes over and over for leaving your date and not being here to get that man away sooner, and of course you shut him up with a kiss.

after dating for a while

you both obviously get more comfortable with your relationship and each other, getting touchy even if people are in the room (usually just your friends). charlotte loves flirting with you jokingly, it used to get henry worked up and upset, but now he just laughs. your 'hangouts' have become much more common, and sometimes even a little much. and you both obviously get caught doing something once or twice, nothing more than kissing and few scandalous touches (yet) but all in all, it's made for a funny few inside jokes. your teachers learn to borderline despise you relationship, the pair of you have been caught in the janitors closet a few too many times.

but, after everything, he always promises to come back to you whenever he can. it's when he has to take his biggest trip as kid danger and for a few moments, no one knows if he's gonna come back. you make sure to show him your gratitude when he does

You weren’t that clumsy.

Okay, maybe you tripped over the occasional curb. And maybe stairs weren’t always your best friend. But overall, you were fine.

At least, that’s what you kept telling yourself—right before you absolutely ate it in the middle of the hallway.

One second, you were walking to your locker, minding your own business. The next, your foot caught on… well, nothing, and you were tumbling forward.

Before you could hit the ground, a pair of strong hands grabbed you, steadying you before you could embarrass yourself any further.

"Whoa, there, butterfingers," a familiar voice teased.

You groaned, already knowing who it was.

Henry Hart.

The boy who had made it his personal mission to witness every single one of your most humiliating moments.

"Did you just trip over… absolutely nothing?" he asked, grinning as he kept his hands on your arms.

You scowled. "No. The floor attacked me."

Henry chuckled, shaking his head. "Sure it did, champ."

You huffed, finally pulling away from his grip and brushing yourself off. "Are you just gonna stand there and make fun of me, or are you gonna be useful and walk me to class?"

He raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Are you asking me on a hallway date?"

You rolled your eyes. "More like I need a human crutch in case I almost die again."

Henry laughed but didn’t hesitate to fall into step beside you. "Well, if it means saving you from another tragic accident, I guess I can make the sacrifice."

You shot him a playful glare. "You're enjoying this, aren’t you?"

"A little," he admitted with a smirk. "But hey, if you ever need a professional fall-catcher, I’m your guy."

You shook your head, biting back a smile.

Maybe tripping over absolutely nothing wasn’t that bad—if it meant getting Henry’s attention.
