☽Prayer for the Autumnal Equinox☾

( for me , today is the Autumnal Equinox, and I really wanted to write a prayer to the gods as a way to thank them for everything they're doing for us , I hope they like it <3 I often struggle with writing my own prayers and I'm sure there's tons I could've worded better but I still wanted to share it with you , I hope you guys like it too )

I call upon you first , Lady Hestia, gentle keeper of the hearth and home, first & last of the deathless Kronides , whose flame burns ever bright , bringing us comfort and warmth . As we retreat into our homes you watch over so kindly , spending more time with family and friends in this time of unity , I honor you as the heart of all that sustains us. May your flame burn steadily in our homes and hearts, bringing warmth, unity, and love as the days grow colder. I honor you for the peace you bring to our lives . May your sacred flame burn brightly within us , o merciful goddess.

I call upon you, Lord Helios, radiant charioteer and god of the warming sun , whose golden light has blessed the earth through the long summer months. As the days grow shorter and your warmth begins to wane, I thank you for the life-giving light you have bestowed upon the world. May you , O Helios Hyperion carry us through the darker days, and may we never forget your blessings , and gratefully await the arrival of your blessed sister in the cold , long nights of Mother Nyx.

I call upon you, Lady Demeter, nurturing mother and goddess of the harvest, who gifts us with the bounty of the earth , nurturing mankind with your own fair hands . As the fields are reaped and the fruits of the season are gathered, I honor you for the sustenance you provide , allowing us to thrive . May we take this time to reflect on the gifts of the earth you gave us and may we store up the strength to carry us through the cold, just as your blessings are stored in grain and fruit. May we be nourished by your gifts, and may we honor the cycles of growth and rest that you govern.

I now call upon you, Lady Selene, shining queen of the night, who graces the dark skies with your silver , shining moon resting atop your fair head . I offer my thanks for your watchful presence as the moon above , great Pasiphae . As the nights lengthen and your presence grows stronger, I honor you and am thankful for your guidance through the inky night. Be with us in the quiet moments of darkness, with your all-seeing eyes . Guide us through the quiet hours, serene and watchful . May we find peace under your watchful gaze.

I give my heartfelt thanks to you, great theoi , for your blessings, your protection, and your presence in my life. May this season bring togetherness, reflection, and peace, as we prepare for the winter to come. Blessed be your names, today and always. Khaire

LORD HELIOS MENTIONED !!

Lord Frederic Leighton (British, 1830-1896) Helios and Rhodes, n.d. Helios fell in love with the sea nymph, Rhode, daughter of Poseidon, and they lived together on Rhodes as protector god and goddess, with Helios naming the island in her honour. They had seven sons, known collectively as the Heliadae, and a daughter, Electryone. Mycenaean Greeks and Minoans generally depicted women with pale or white skin and men with tanned skin. Male warriors like Odysseus were usually described as having sun-browned or bronzed skin.

☽☾The All-Seeing Sun (WIP)☽☾

ANOTHER WIP WOOHOO this one is of Lord Helios ! After noticing just how little content of him exists out there , I simply had to try and contribute! He's such an underrated, wonderful deity and I had a lot of fun drawing him . Again, if anyone is interested, you can find notes on my design choices further down ! Hope you like it <3

❂ my design notes :

I mainly based my design on the rooster , one of his sacred animals! For example, the hair strands that are much longer than the rest are colored like the beautiful blue-ish , iridescent feathers roosters have on their tail . Overall, his hair is colored in a reddish gradient, referencing roosters again :3 normally, you'd also see horse imagery on his greaves, but due to the perspective I decided to not draw them here , since it'd look very cluttered. His jewelry ( like the necklace , bangle and legchain ) is made out of amber, which is sacred to him. I gave him a third eye on his forehead, to further allude to him being the all seeing one . I also gave him that beautiful minoan sun makeup, I thought it was very fitting. You can't see it here but he'd have glowing freckles. The " three pom-poms " on his drapery represent him and his two siblings, and they'd be colored accordingly. His girdle and the short drapery underneath are adorned with his associated flowers , the heliotrope and sunflowers ( more of an upg but I think it's really fitting) . The only real description of his appearance describes him as a beardless young man dressed in purple, so I included a purple drapery across his chest & back . He's holding a golden globe , one of the symbols associated with him ! In sculptures and coins he's mostly shown with a spiky crown symbolizing the sunrays, I thought they looked a little too inconvenient so I moved the spikes to the jewelry on his arm , and literally crowned him with the aureole of the sun behind him . I really tried my best to make him look unique, partially because I really don't want people to confuse him with Lord Apollon . Which is also why I tried to give Lord Helios a lot of sun decorations, like on his chest and girdle along with the little stars , since he is the celestial observer. His eyes would be really piercing and shining, and all his children would share that trait . I'd imagine that he usually keeps his whip tied to the back of his girdle, and that it looks like a solar flare . Kinda wish I knew how to draw horses so I could draw him in his element, but this will have to do for now :') i hope he likes it anyway.

Wait I might actually be cooking with the “Helios as Hephaestus’s biological father au” bc there is this variant of Zeus and Hera had sex before they were married and conceived Hephaestus and when Tethys and Oceanus were giving her to Zeus for marriage they asked her how she had a child when she’s a virgin she said she had Hephaestus all by herself (which is hilarious).

So what if she had a relationship with Helios before being married off to Zeus that could be an interesting fanfic.

Also don’t worry I won’t write this in my retelling lol, but I just wanna throw that idea out there for someone else to explore.

𖤓 Thank you , Lord Helios 𖤓

Since yesterday ( at least for me haha ) was the solstice, I wanted to take the chance to honor & thank the Lord & Embodiment of the Sun , the ever shining titan Helios !

Thank you , Lord Helios , for going on your daily journey to pull the sun across the sky in your golden chariot , accompanied by your loyal winged steeds , just for us mortals to bask in your radiant light . Thank you so much for bringing us the warmth of the sun , not only on the solstice but everyday! But especially for your longest journey I wanted to give you my thanks and honor you ! May your golden rays continue to illuminate our world and guide us !

While I'm not a devotee of his , my best friend is ! And as a devotee of his sister Lady Selene, I try my best to honor her siblings whenever I get the chance to !

I know they are never both stated as the parents of the charities at the same time, but I choose to interpret Helios and Eurynome as their parents. Eurynome so that she raises Hephaestus as her own along with her daughters and Helios bc he seems like a genuine bro to Hephaestus not only telling him about Aphrodite cheating but also rescuing him during the Gigantomachy.

Maybe whenever Helios would visit his daughters he’d spend time with Hephaestus as well and was kinda a father figure to him, which Hephaestus appreciated since Zeus literally threw him off Olympus for trying to protect Hera.

PLEASE GIVE ME MORE ART OF LORD HELIOS EVERYONE there's so little content of him out there and it's such a shame , he's such an important & benevolent deity, bringing us the light & warmth of the sun everyday. He really deserves more recognition
