You’re on Your Own, Kid (You Always Have Been);

Summary: The Badun Detective Agency founding members (and Elle) are used to being on their own. Here are just a few examples. Cowritten with @igetthedisneybox . Trigger warnings: child abuse, child neglect, child abandonment, swearing, mentioned child murder, animal abuse, car accidents leading to serious injuries, implied suicide, child labor, ableism, etc.

The rain pelted the ground as the sky above thundered on.

Helga tightened her grip on the two baskets in her hand, making sure they didn’t slip. Despite her heavy load, she traversed the streets of the Isle with all the grace and poise of an assassin, until she finally made it to her destination.

Hell Hall.

Sneaking up the steps, she placed the two baskets on the doorstep, making sure the note was fully visible.

Her twin babies stared up at her, blinking innocently. Harold had the letter addressed to their father and the De Vil’s clutched in his chubby fist.

“Be good you two. But be sure to give them hell. God knows they’ll need it.”

“Ma—” Her daughter, Mabletrude, babbled happily. Reaching for her with one hand and clutching her little wooden doll in the other.

Helga felt a pain in her chest, but she ignored it. “Bye, little ones. Ma loves you.” She banged her fist on the door three times, then ran into the bushes, out of sight, but able to watch.

Harry watched her go and when he realized she wasn't going to come back and get them, he started to wail.

Loud swearing could be heard from inside for a few minutes before someone finally answered the door.

It took her a moment to recognize them.

“Hunter.” She breathed, almost wanting to come out of the bushes, to see her son. But she thought better of it. He would only be angry.

That is, if he even recognized her. They hadn't seen each other since before her Archer (his father) died more than nine years ago, after all.

The bleach blonde looked around confused for a moment before looking down—his brown eyes going comically wide before he hesitantly took them inside.

The last thing Elle remembered when she woke up was the family car crashing and pain. Horrible, horrible pain in her back and legs that was nothing like she'd ever felt before in her long three years of life.

Pain that was now completely gone. Replaced by a strange numbness that was completely overshadowed by how blurry everything in this strange, new, bright place was.

“Mama?”

Her mother didn't respond or come running to her call.

“Papa?”

Her father didn't either.

So…Elle tried to get up, only to faceplant on the floor—causing the little brunette to start crying.

A man and a woman, who had been standing outside the door talking to a nurse, came rushing in. “Are you alright, dear?”

“I want my mama!” Elle sniffled, trying to push herself to her feet—almost causing her to faceplant agan.

The woman gently lifted her up and back onto the bed. “Honey…your mama had to go away.”

“Then I wants papa!”

The man winced. “Your papa had to go away too. I’m sorry, little one.”

“I wanna go home then!” Elle yelled, getting more and more frustrated. “I wanna go home!”

The woman sighed. “Dear…we’re gonna be taking you to our home for now.”

“Why?”

“Since your parents…someone needs to take care of you. We decided that we wanted to be the ones to take care of you.” Eric chimed in.

Elle made a face. Trying to understand. “I don't… I don't understands.”

“We know, Elle.” Ariel tried to soothe. “This is hard to understand. We’ll try and help you the best we can.”

A loud bang rang out throughout the small area of land where the Bing circus was located, followed by an even louder, high-pitched scream.

It came from Maximilian and Hermie Bing’s trailer.

“Goodness, what was that?” Colette looked alarmed at the trailer.

Holt looked wary. “No idea. Should we go check it out?”

Colette looked at him like he was insane. “Somebody just screamed from our boss’s trailer. Yes we should go check it out!”

Holt got up, still wary and looked at the others: Mainly his two children—Joey and Milly. “You two stay here.”

Just then, the screaming got louder.

Holt whirled around towards the sound. “That sounds like Hermie! Let’s go!” He began to run towards the sound.

“DADDY! DADDY!” The seven year old’s cries became clearer and clearer the closer he got.

“Hermie!” Holt called out as he and Colette approached the trailer.

She didn't respond and just kept screaming.

Bursting into the trailer, all they could see was the little brunette standing in the doorway to her dad's room. Her back to them.

“Hermie? What’s wrong, what happened?” Colette approached the screaming girl cautiously. Only to immediately get a glimpse of some kind of red liquid on the floor.

Colette tried to pull Hermie away from the door. “Holt, go get…somebody. Anybody. There’s…I think there’s blood…” She trailed off.

Holt didn't need to be told twice.

Jace sniffled, pressing the coldest thing he could find to his wrist.

His mother hovered over him, unsure of what else she could do. “See? It’s not that bad. That’ll heal up nicely.”

“I hate her, mama.” the seven year old replied miserably. “And I hate him too.”

“Hate isn’t a very nice word, dear.” Katrina said through a wince.

“Well Cru-ella isn't nice either.” He huffed, defiant.

“I know, I know. But we have to be better than her.”

“Which isn’t hard.” She thought, but did not say.

“How can we be better if she kills us like she did the others?” Jace muttered. Grumpily.

Katrina blinked. She felt like all the breath had been stolen from her lungs. “What are you talking about?”

The smaller brunette squinted at her, clearly confused. “Whaddya mean what am I talking about? She killeds James and maybe the others too.”

James was Jace’s oldest half brother.

It seemed like all she could do was stare. “Jacey? Please tell Mommy that you're joking. That this is a prank.”

He looked even more confused. “No… she pushed him down the stairs cause he wouldn't let her hit Hunter.”

Katrina tried to catch her breath. This was��she didn’t know how to deal with this. But first things first: Jace could not see her try and figure this out. “My, look at the time. It’s bedtime for Jacey.”

Jace grumbled. “Do I have to mama?”

“Yes. Good boys go to bed.” Just a few more minutes, and then she could break down. She could try and figure things out.

He huffed but went anyway, figuring that he could just spend more time with her in the morning.

But she wasn't there in the morning.

Little Reza flapped his hands in excitement as he read the astronomy book he'd found.

“Cut that out!” His father snapped at him, looking up from his work.

The nine year old immediately shrunk away from him.

“And that book is mine. Are you trying to steal from me, child?” His voice became dangerously low.

“N-no father, I found it in the barge. It's not your—”

“Give it here!” Tareq interrupted, holding out his hand. “You little thief! You should know better than to touch my things!”

“No! It's mine—”

In one fell swoop, Tareq had ripped the book out of Reza’s hands, while simultaneously shoving him backwards. He thumbed through the book, disgust on his face. “Bah. I got the newest addition years ago. Garbage.” He tossed the book onto his desk, high enough that Reza couldn’t reach.

Reza couldn't help but scowl. Forgetting where he was.

“What was that?” Tareq glared at his son.

The ravenette backed away. “N-nothing baba.”

“What did I say about that word?!” He shoved himself right near Reza’s face, teeth ground together.

The small boy backed away, hunching in on himself.

“Go to your room, and stay there. Think about what you have done.”

Reza did, but not before mumbling “I hate you.”

Eddie stood outside of Hades’ Souvlaki at 4am. Waiting for it to open.

Luckily for him, Fern Coachmen was opening that morning and spotted him out the window. “Uh hello? What are you doing out there?”

The little brunette perked up. “Are you still hiring?”

Fern looked left and right, seeing if the boy was alone. “Are you volunteering?”

“Yes ma'am!”

“How old are you?” She asked, concerned.

He peered at her with big brown eyes, tilting his head to the side slightly. He wore clothes several sizes too big, even by isle kid standards (reminding her of her younger brother, Warren) and his eyes were slathered in eyeliner, making him look loosely like a raccoon. “Does it matter?”

Fern felt her motherly instincts kick in. “I suppose not, it’s not like this is particularly dangerous work. What’s your name, dear?”

“Edmund Balthazar, but everybody calls me Eddie.”

“Eddie.” She smiled warmly. “I’m Fern. Come on in, we can warm you up. Get you something to eat.”

“Does this mean I get the job?” He asked, following her in without a second thought. Making her wonder if he was even an isle kid to begin with, because most children she knew—even ones younger than this boy looked, tended to be wary.

“Sure thing. We’ll see what we can do with you.” She hesitated. “Do…do your parents know that you’re here?”

“Kinda. Mama’s memory ain't so great anymore but I'm sure daddy will remember I'm here. He would have come instead but he can't move good no more after his fall.” The brunette shrugged, rolling up his sleeves.

Fern couldn’t remember much about the Balthazars. Her and Panic never paid much mind to Isle gossip. “I see. Well, as long as they’re…semi okay with it.”

“They are!”

She smiled again. “Well, welcome aboard, Eddie!”

He smiled sleepily at her, with bags under his eyes that were heavier than any child's should be.

Yzla cried and cried into the cat shaped pillow her father had brought her on his latest visit back to the isle.

Miserable.

“Why so glum, little one?” Her father’s voice sounded from behind her.

“You know why.” She sniffed.

Cedric sighed. “I know you don’t like it when I leave for work. But it’s only temporary. I’ll be back before you know it.”

“But you just got here. Do you really have to go? Grandmother's always meaner when you're gone and Zevon always acts worse!”

“I’m sorry, Yzzy. I really am. I’m sure you can talk with your mother about these things, maybe she can help with Zevon?” Azma was a lost cause, so Cedric didn’t bother mentioning her.

“Mom tries but Zevon is hard to handle.” Yzla scowled, grumpy. “And she's got her handful with grandmother. And the twins can only do so much– especially when Lil Yaz keeps riling her up.”

He sighed again, frustrated. “There’s nothing I can do, Yzla. If I don’t go to work, I don’t get money, and if I don’t get money, we can’t eat or do science anymore.”

“Just leave me alone.” The eleven mumbled. “I'll handle it myself, like I always do.”

Cedric immediately regretted being snappy with his daughter, but she didn’t seem to be in the mood for apologies, so he decided to let her be. “I love you, Yz. I’ll be back before you know it.” He smoothed her hair.

She said nothing. Knowing there was nothing she could say that would better the situation.

Sheldon the turtle took a look at his surroundings, very displeased.

He was surrounded. By garbage.

How uncivilized.

He tottered along on his little stubby legs, nosing around some compost wondering if anything was decent enough to eat.

He hadn't eaten all day!

He was gonna starve if he didn't find something this instance.

Oh, his family was going to get bit when he got back home.

“Don't worry! I'll save you!”

Sheldon looked up from his musings to find a human child—different from the one in his family—with a brown bowl cut for hair, and brown eyes, and baggy clothes, leaning over the edge of the barge.

He blinked at the human child, wishing he could tell him that he could save himself thank you very much.

But he couldn’t. Because he was a turtle.

The child squirmed, sticking his tongue out in concentration as he moved forward. A net in hand. “Don't be scared!”

“Eddie, who are you talking to you?” Another human child asked from out of Sheldon’s line of sight.

The first child ignored them.

Sheldon barely had time to wonder if he was going to try and catch him with that net, before he was scooped up like a common fish!

Along with a pair of… what did his human call them? Nomchunks?...

“There we go! I got ya little guy. Don't worry. My friends and I will take real good care of ya!”

Ignace lost his in the evacuation from Haven, and the music played in Skyhold's court is so painfully provincial compared to your Sylvestre's compositions. I require more velvets and furs as well. My seamstress needs quality materials to occupy her hands. I did not plan to spend so long in these freezing mountains. If my dresses grow any more outdated, the others may begin to think me a walking corpse, and with these temperatures, they very well may be right! I remember two of the Inquisitor's companions, the Dalish and Qunari apostates, from the Conclave. When I first saw them, the Qunari was carrying off the elf away from the Divine's quarters shortly before the explosion. Now, they stand unharmed and protected by the Inquisitor's side. It would be untoward of me to speak ill of those so clearly trusted by the Inquisitor, but it must strike one as suspicious. Perhaps Val Royeaux was too narrow in her earlier accusations. Just the same, these words may very well be the ramblings of mountain air madness. Pay them no heed. In happier news, after the Inquisition's rousing sealing of the Breach, it now intends to also locate and defeat its creator. Clearly, we were wise to lend them our support. I have to wonder what it means that the Maker sent one who isn't even one of His own children to save us. He works in strange ways alright.

A carefully folded letter found among Helga's personal effects. A tattered white flower is inside. There are several words which have been misspelled, scribbled out, and rewritten correctly. Dear Mom, Gunnar let me borrow his crossbow yesterday. He said I was the quickest talent he'd ever seen! I knocked down five bottles in a row from the opposite side of the shooting range. By the time you get back, I bet I'll be the new best archer at the hideout. Dad's been taking me to the Uncrushable Pigeon for dinner every night, and it's starting to get samey. He tried to cook eggs for breakfast one time last week, and they caught on fire. The Dasher says you're going to be off on mission for a long time, but can you at least send Dad your recipes? I think he needs the help. I'm going to sneak a pretty flower I dried into the envelope for you when he's not looking. Sincerely, Willem

As the days go by

The Njordsdottirs grew more and more accustomed with living among the humans, and it was as if they'd found a new home in Kattegat. Of course, they still thought about their long lost underwater kingdom and the friends they'd left behind, but they didn't know their way back, or if there was anything or anyone to return to at all. But unbeknownst to them, the sea god Njord had sent his best guards in search for his precious daughters, and had sworn to bring Ragnarok upon anyone who'd hurt them.

But the sea maidens had been anything but hurt, living a simple life with the boat builder and his wife. The sisters would help Helga with chores in the morning, then lend a hand to Floki for some smaller tasks required for boatbuilding, such as sewing the ships' sails or handing him his tools. In their free time, they'd walk around the village, swim in the ocean or hang out with the Ragnarssons. Kori had become particularly good at throwing axes, tutored by Bjorn, while Nana was now an archer almost as exceptional as Ivar. On that particular afternoon, Kori kept her sister company while she visited Ivar in the blacksmith's workshop, where he was sharpening the blades of his and his brother's axes. "I had this made for you, princess." The viking prince said, softly reaching for Nana's hand and placing a traditional viking armring on her wrist, one that matched his own. Nana smiled wide, not really knowing what to say, but aware that it meant a lot. "This is... so beautiful, Ivar. Thank you." He smiled right back at her, caressing her hand with his thumb and bringing it to his lips. "You're hurt..." He noticed a small cut on her delicate hand. "Oh... this is nothing. One of Helga's chickens bit me this morning..." Nana chuckled, but Ivar frowned, still worried. "That beast shall meet my axe, then." "Oh, no no! Well, poor thing was just defending her eggs..." Nana tried to protect the small animal, to which Ivar chuckled and shook his head. "You're too kind for your own good, princess..."

Outside the workshop, Bjorn laughed and played with a little blonde girl, both fighting with small wooden swords meant for children. Noticing Kori outside the shop, the girl ran to her. "Hi Kori!" She waved, a wide smile upon her chubby cheeks. Then her father followed. "Kori... hi!" Bjorn greeted, raising a hand to touch his blonde hair. "Actually... I was wondering if... you could watch Siggy this afternoon? I'm going hunting, so..."

Rowena looked at Godric with a puzzled look. Helga prevented them both to go to the bar this night. Some things about them being “too reckless when they’re drunk” and “needing supervision”. Rowena disagreed, but the Hufflepuff knew how to be persuasive. So she resigned not to go tonight. It didn’t really matter, she knew she was going to spent the night with Godric anyway. She was actually waiting for him when he came with the bottle. She couldn’t help but laugh.

❝This is actually clever! But don’t you think we’ll wake them up?❞

There was no yard in the house they were staying in this time, meaning they were both in the living-room, trying to make as little noise as possible.

❝We’ll be careful. And, honestly, that’s on them for not letting us out.❞ Seeing that Rowena was a bit hesitant, he added with a smile: ❝ Alright, Rowena Ravenclaw, let's do a drinking game: every time you overthink something, or ask too much questions, you drink.❞

❝You should just give me the whole bottle right now then.❞ She answered, amused.

❝Don’t tempt me. You’re saying very interesting things when you’re drunk.❞

She couldn’t help but laugh before punching his arm. She didn’t mind the teasing. Not tonight at least. Very quickly, she gave up into the mood and the two just started drinking, talking about anything and everything and just laughing together; trying - and failing - to keep their voices low. Before they knew it, the bottle was finished. But they didn’t notice it for they were so into their conversation, which was about their new passions: archery and sculpture.

❝... And so just like that, Salazar told me I should give up. Can you believe it?❞

❝What a moron! Don’t you dare listen to him. You’ll make a great archer.❞

❝You really think that?❞

❝Obviously! Plus, archery is so cool. I mean, imagine not even needing to be near your enemies to destroy them! We’ll just have to figure out a way for you to walk around with your sword, your bow and arrows. That’s a lot but I’ll help you on that... Actually you know what? I just got the best idea!❞

She really did not. But Rowena didn’t leave Godric the choice, and made him wait for him in the living-room while she ran upstairs. She quickly came down with Godric’s bow, some arrows and three of her own sculptures. She aligned the sculptures and gave the rest to Godric, which was now a little confused. And the alcohol didn’t help.

❝If your best friend don’t support you then it’s officially my role. Training session’s open. Try to aim at those sculptures.❞ She said proudly, like alcohol didn’t just give her a very stupid idea.

❝But I don’t want to break something you did!❞ Godric complained, like it was really the only fault in this plan.

❝Don’t worry, they were my very firsts, I made like hundreds of them now, much prettier. I decided that their fates will be to be used as a practice target.❞ Seeing how hesistant he was, she add with a little smirk: ❝I offer you this: For every one you hit, I’ll have to answer one of your question. You can ask me anything, and I’ll have to be 100% honest. I swear. So, what do you say?❞

Godric’s eyes immediately lit up, sign that Rowena’s proposal was worth the try. None of them seemed to consider their level of inebriety anymore. They were so sure that they were in possession of their abilities. But they were not. And it was not a surprise that Godric’s arrow, instead of hitting one of the sculpture, just ended up breaking one of their host’s vase. In a very noisy way. They immediately looked at each other, realizing what they had just done and the consequences that were going to follow. Especially when they heard Salazar screaming ❝What the hell is happening downstairs?!❞ from his room.

❝Uhh... I think we’re in trouble.❞ Rowena said, not able to stop herself from laughing either way.

de Vil family Headcanons revised:

Trigger warnings: Child abuse, child neglect, mentions of dementia, mental health issues, unhealthy coping mechanisms, death, and animal abuse.

There is an 11 year age difference between Hunter and Carlos, a 5 year one between Carlos and Ivy, and a 4 year one between him and Diego.

Hunter, Ivy, and Carlos are tech geeks in my universe and can't do anything musical to save their lives.

Diego, on the other hand, is the only musically inclined one who cannot do anything tech related to save his life.

Hunter and Ivy were born pre-isle but died trying to stop one of Cruella's plots when she found out and pursued them. Causing them to crash.

Because of their childhood Villainous activities they were resurrected and sent to the isle the year Carlos was born.

Both Antia and Roger have met Hunter and Ivy but only Ivy has met their niece, Amber.

Funnily enough, all of the de Vil cousins have four things in common—their love for animals, their tempers, their competitive nature, and their very strong passion for fashion.

They have a lot of pets that they have to play 'Keep away from Cruella' with.

Including a chicken on Hunter and Ivy's part, which is funny because their ancestor— Dimsdale—despises chickens.

They are descended from both Melione (Hades' daughter) and the Villainous princess Ivy from Sofia the first.

Hunter's full name is Hunter Claudias de Vil.

Ivy's full name is Ivana Mallory de Vil.

Diego's full name is Diego Ethan de Vil.

Carlos's full name is Carlos Oscar de Vil.

Carlos is the son of Cruella de Vil and James Charming.

Diego is the son of Cecil de Vil and an unknown woman.

Ivy is the daughter of Carmen Sandiego and Cotton de Vil.

Hunter is the son of Helga Sinclair and Charles de Vil, making him the older half brother of Harry Badun.

Carlos's dad either got taken forcibly back to Auradon or was killed by Cruella. No one is quite sure which.

Diego's mother left him on the doorstep.

Ivy's father was a pyro noir like detective and the youngest of his many siblings, which made her a favorite of the family. Her father died in a freak fire related accident when she was 3. Carmen had no idea where she went after Ivy's father died.

Hunter's father was an artist turned Archery teacher who went by 'Archer' and died in a freak archery accident.

Hunter de Vil is dating a grown up Jim Jr (from Lady and the Tramp) and Jane's cousin, Elisa/Eliza.

Diego is dating Derek, Doug's older brother.

Carlos is dating Jane.

And Ivy is dating Gordon, son of Grumpy— and yes, they are aware of the irony.

Together (meaning them, their partners, their cousin P.H, and Cruella) they have 18 pets. Including 2 chickens, 1 ferret, 1 dove, 1 lab rat, 4 cats, and 10 dogs (most of which are Cruella's).

Hunter is still an influencer (he was one when he was a teenager) and is also an inventor who works at the local tech repair shop and a part time mechanic.

All of the de Vil kids love chocolates but different kids.

Hunter practically lives off of coffee and energy drinks and kinder joy eggs.

Hunter is also a YouTuber.

Ivy loves oatmeal with strawberries and blackberries.

She is an inventor, a fashion designer, a salon owner who makes her own cosmetics, and a beauty pageant veteran who always saw Amber dearly (The Radcliffe's niece) as a rival. This was one-sided.

She takes after her mother alot— she's elusive, playful, badass, etc.

Kids used to call her Evilana. Which she hated.

Diego is the lead singer and guitarist of the Bad Apples and a member of Harriet Hook's crew and the Anti-heroes' club.

He is also a tattoo artist who loves coke (the soda) and fast food.

Carlos is a tourney and ROAR member who loves video games, tech stuff, animals, and inventing. He wants to be a veterinarian or app designer.

Hunter, Ivy, and Diego helped Carlos build his treehouse when they were younger.

They all love each other very much and are very protective of one another.

Unlike Carlos, the other de Vils are actually quite fond of the Badun cousins.

Ivy loves the color pink.

Their ancestor that everyone thinks is the literal devil was actually a somewhat normal human boy who was just unfortunate enough to have been born with hooves and a tail (likely due to them also being descended from Hades’ daughter Melione and sorceress like the original Ivana de Vil—aka Princess Ivy).

For some reason, Diego is Cruella's favorite. No one knows why or how.

This is entirely one-sided; Diego despises Cruella.

Yes, Hunter and Ivy were born pre-isle.

Yes, they committed their crimes.

BUT, they were also 12 and 6, and highly abused and neglected.

And they redeemed themselves and got killed in the process in my timeline saving the puppies from one of Cruella's schemes gone wrong.

But of course, Auardon brought them back a year after Carlos was born and sent them to the isle despite the Radcliffes' protest.

Hunter was 12 and Ivy was 6, and they both cried and pleaded for mercy. Beast and Belle ignored them.

They hate them because of this.

Like their parents before them, they're close.

Unlike their parents, they didn't have a falling out and would still die for one another.

Diego is the only non-tech savvy de Vil of this generation.

But that's fine with him because he's the only one who can play any instrument.

The other 3 can't play an instrument to save their lives.

Despite the fact that Diego is a part of Harriet's crew and that Harriet is in alliance with Uma, he and Carlos are still close.

Diego is the only non disabled, sickly, or mentally ill de Vil.

All of the de Vils are into fashion.

The de Vil cousins move out of Cruella's house after Carlos goes to Auradon. They had only stayed for Carlos.

The de Vil cousins have an unspoken agreement to always look out for each other, their pets, and the badun cousins.

The de Vil cousins communicate in Morse code sometimes. Other times they communicate in sign language.

They made up their own language to communicate in as kids. The Badun cousins are the only ones who understand it.

All of the de Vil kids have pets and take care of Cruella's pets.

They all feel guilty about the fact that they couldn't protect each other or their pets. Or the Badun cousins.

Jace and Harry used to have siblings. The rest of the isle might have forgotten this but they hadn't. They never would.

None of the four de Vil cousins will ever turn down helping the Badun cousins. No matter what.

No one talks about the missing Badun girls and boys.

No one talks about how the Badun cousins don't live with them, Cruella, and their dads anymore.

After Harry Badun turned 7, learning medical care became a priority for all of the de Vil kids. Maybe it's guilt or maybe it's a sense of obligation. No one knows.

Diego is the only one of the group who sleeps.

He's known as the only 'normal' de Vil. He's the only one who doesn't have a nasty nickname.

He's the one who keeps everyone alive which makes up for his bouts of irresponsible stupidity.

Diego is also the only de Vil sibling who can write in cursive.

Hunter is the only blonde de Vil that the cousins can remember.

This earns a lot of jokes about him being adopted.

He is never amused by them.

Ivy looks the most like Cruella. Her hair is half and half like hers, and she hates it. Hair dye doesn't work.

She's tried. Her cousins had to beg her to stop because she would break out in horrible hives when she used it and they were afraid she'd die.

Carlos is allergic to Wool.

Hunter and Diego have no allergies.

Hunter is claustrophobic and afraid of the dark and being alone and forgotten because of his time in the crate. His younger cousins know very few details about it.

Diego's hair is the opposite of Carlos's—his hair is mostly black with a few white streaks and specks, while Carlos's hair is mostly white with dark specks

Ivy is afraid of burning alive like her dad but also addicted to the flames.

Her and Hunter are scared of dying again.

Diego, Carlos, and The Badun cousins had to sleep in their beds a lot when they were younger to calm them because of the nightmares they had.

They still do.

The 3 oldest de Vil cousins were in pure shock and mourning for days after Carlos left for Auardon. They thought they'd never see him again.

Carlos, Hunter, and Ivy go to all of Diego's concerts and like all of his videos and buy all his albums.

He does the same for them.

They're all scared of going nuts like their elders.

They were all scared of their other relatives when they got off the isle.

Hunter never forgives Ben's parents. Never.

He and Ivy both try to pretend that they don't want to kill them both.

Everyone but Diego has had depression. Diego has just always been optimistic (and a bit angry).

Ivy is named after their ancestor, Princess Ivy.

She resents this.

Divus de Vil, or Divus Crewel—as he is now known—is a professor at Night Raven College.

He teaches the school's science curriculum, including potionology.

He, like the rest of his family, feels strongly about fashion and refuses to compromise on what he wears.

He is Cruella and Crisitan de Vil's twin brother who somehow managed to stay out of any serious legal trouble. Unlike them.

When he was younger, Divus was nicknamed 'devious' by his fellow peers. Right around the time they started to call his sister 'Cruella' instead of Ella.

He was the favorite of his mother—meaning he was the only one who ever got attention from her.

He has no pets.

He, Cristian, and Cruella taught their 3 younger brothers (Cyrus, Cotton, and Cecil) how to work on cars when they were all kids.

Back before Cruella and P.H became cruel, all 7 of them were rather close-knit despite their age differences.

Divus's mother named him. His name means "divine"/"godlike" or "god". It can aldo be considered a variant of "diva", referring to a narcissistic and self-important person.

Cyrus was a teen dad at 14.

Malevola and Cruella didn't hesitate at all to yell at and belittle him for this.

He ran away a couple of years later with his son, Charles, and became a farmer.

Cyrus was a natural blonde but dyed his hair black and white in an attempt to fit in with his family.

Charles inherited it as well. They both inherited this from Oscar "Count" de Vil.

22 years later, Charles met a woman named Helga Sinclair and Hunter de Vil was born.

Oscar and Dintia de Vil are the parents of Malevola de Vil and her brother, Malice.

Of course, those aren't their real names. Only the names those who didn't understand their odd family gave them.

Oscar and Dinita would never name them those names. They were actual loving parents, thank you very much (Unlike Malevola).

Malevola and Malice are actually named Mallory and Malachai.

Malachai's unflattering nickname doesn't really fit him at all.

He may be the mastermind but Malachai isn't really eVil at all. He's actually harmless and quite kind. Unlike his nasty sister.

Oscar de Vil was rumored to be a vampire and thusly nicknamed the 'Count' because he always wore a black, hooded cloak.

And no, he isn't actually a vampire. He's just severely allergic to sunlight and has to wear a hooded cloak while outside during the day.

It's actually kinda funny/sad considering the fact that his wife, Dinita, loves the sun and taking walks.

She stopped doing it as often when she began dating him so she could spend more time with him, so it's safe to say their love was true.

Both of them were loving, confident, lively people who saw the best in everyone and loved life.

Oscar was a businessman and a doctor who was quite charitable to those around him and Dintia was an architect.

Dintia actually was the one who designed Hell Hall and the other de Vil properties.

The two of them and their kids were loved in the small community they lived in for the first 10 years of Malachai's life.

And then Dintia slowly started to forget things.

It was small things at first, like Mallory's favorite color and Malachai's favorite snack.

And then it was big things, like her anniversary and birthdays.

It only continued to spiral from there until Oscar dragged her to the doctor during the day—causing him to break into hives mind you—and got her checked out to find out what was wrong.

Not long after, they found out she had early onset dementia and Dintia started to change.

Forgetting who Oscar and even her own kids were. Not recognizing her two birds, Stormy and Sunny. Not recognizing her own pictures.

Oscar began to distance himself from his kids, throwing himself into his work in hopes of finding a way to save his weakening wife.

Dintia kept finding ways to escape the house and could often be found wandering around town, confused.

Some less than lovely people started to call her dementia instead of her actual name.

She died four years later when Malachai was 14 and Mallory was 10. And it hit everyone hard.

Oscar and Malachai both fell into a deep depression and due to the time period they were in, they received little to no help at all.

Oscar became a shut-in and rarely left his house, glaring at anyone who approached him on the rare occasions that he did.

Malachai became a shell of his former self. He stopped talking and smiling and goofing around as much, and daydreamed often of his mother never getting sick and his life never going to hell. Hardly able to accept reality.

He actually checked out for a bit—becoming emotionally detached from everyone around him—and didn't speak for years.

If his son, Philip Herbert aka P.H, hadn't been born, he would have never come out of it.

Unfortunately, while he and Oscar were emotionally dead to the world, Mallory started to change.

She became bitter and resentful and apathetic to everything that wasn't fashion. And her morals and what she saw as important slowly started to distort until she wasn't recognizable anymore.

And she was oh so hateful to anyone who wasn't her love, Dupree, who would go on to be her husband—earning her the alias Malevola.

Dupree was head over heels in love with her and blind to all her faults, which would come back to bite him later.

They'd go on to have 5 kids in this order; Cruella, Divus, Cyrus, Cecil, and Cotton.

Malevola/Mallory didn't even attempt to be a good mother. Ignoring them when she could get away with it and being out of town often.

She'd even snap at and belittle them from the moment they were born.

Cruella would go on to be a fashion designer as did Crisitan and you know the rest.

Cyrus became a teen dad and a farmer.

Cecil became a film director and willingly went to the isle for Cruella.

And Cotton became a detective and a pyro.

Cotton eventually met Carmen Sandiego, one thing led to another, and Ivana/Ivy de Vil was born.

Ivy is Malevola's favorite grandchild.

Malevola tried to make up for her parenting mistakes with Hunter and Ivy, and the other two kids, but failed.

Mainly because she played keep away with them and their mothers.

Oscar (Malevola) was a good grandfather who visited on occasion but couldn't undo the damage his daughter had done.

Dupree died before he could meet Hunter, Ivy, Diego, or Carlos.

He admitted openly on his death bed that he regretted not divorcing Malevola when their kids were young because, while he loved her, she wasn't a good person and screwed up their kids in ways that couldn't be fixed.

Most of the de Vils are mentally ill in one way or another.

Harry Badun is Hunter de Vil's younger half-brother.

Cotton died in a fiery accident he caused.

Cyrus died in a farming accident.

Charles died in a freak archery accident.

Oscar succumbed to his old age, a bitter, angry old man who the children of the Village feared.

Hunter and Ivy died in a car accident while trying to free the dalmatians from Cruella and got resurrected and sent to the isle.

Cecil died from not taking care of himself when he fell depressed upon realizing he had damned his son and that his niece and nephews would never be free of the isle.

Malachai got sick and died when P.H was very young, causing him to be taken in By Malevola and Dupree.

Due to the sudden loss of the only parental figure he had and the neglect and belittlement he suffered from Malevola, he went mad.

He was introduced to science by Divus and started to experiment on any animal he could get his hands on. It rarely ended well for the animals. But Malevola allowed it as long as her dogs and Malachai's snake weren't touched.

P.H ended up experimenting on his father's snake and it died.

Cruella helped him hide the evidence.

Malevola was devastated and never found her brother's snake, leading her to assume she lost it.

It was one of 4 times Cruella and her siblings ever saw her mother cry.

Malevola told Carlos once that he looked like her brother at his age. It was the only time she ever mentioned her brother before her death.

Anita knew all of Cruella's generation growing up. P.H always scared her.

Once when they were all little, Cruella convinced them all to try her favorite drink; ink.

They all got terribly ill from it and never did it again.

No one knows how Cruella can stand drinking that stuff.

Carlos lives a long, healthy life with his friends and Jane.

Divus was delighted to meet his niece and nephews. Along with all their partners and friends.

Horace and Jasper were friends with the de Vils and Radcliffes growing up.

Michael Ancher - The baptism of a child in the church of Skagen, between 1883 and 1888, oil on canvas Michael Archer has painted the christening of his own daughter, Helga. Anna Archer is the mother in gold. The godparents who surround them were all members of the Skagen artistic community. His friend and painter, Peder Severin Krøyer, stands at the centre of the group. Also in the painting is Oscar Boeck (pastor), John Brøndum (Anna’s brother), Marianne Stokes (English painter), Mr Mariager (model), and the artist himself.

It took Archer five years to create this painting. He reworked it on several occasions and replaced some people because they were not always available for posing. The group portrait spans more than two metres.

Oh ... in case you are wondering, Helga did grow up to become a painter too.

Baldur’s Gate Modding

The list of Baldur's Gate I, II, & III mods I personally like and use!

BG I & II

I'm really only interested in male romanceable companion mods, but there are gameplay, combat oriented, and miscellaneous mods out there too. You can look on gibberlings3, giberrlings3 github, pocket plane, spellhold studios, spellhold studios github, and the beamdog forums.

I decided to add all other companion mods I’ve found (female, non-romanceable male, and animal companions). I dug through their crossmod info, but I'm only 70% confident in their installation order since I don't use them myself.

BG III

The game is out now so I’ll be going through and updating/editing the list (this text will change once I’m done), just be aware there still may be updates that break mods--at least for a little while.

Note: Mooooom!!! Tumblr is messing with the links again!! The mods shouldn’t be impossible to search for, but sorry for any inconvenience.

Gavin - [download] - A Human Lathander cleric.

Gavin isn’t really appealing to my personal taste; I’m not a good-alignment or cleric/paladin lover, but I can’t deny it’s pretty extensive and a great mod.

Garrick’s Infatuation - [download] - Adds a romance for Garrick.

It’s a really cute romance though it’s not that deep.

BG1 Romantic Encounters - [download] - Adds ‘romantic’ encounters throughout the game.

I basically only use a small handful of the encounters, but in general it’s a great mod. Both teen and adult rated content.

If nothing else download the Girdle and Childhood Friend parts, they’re the best.

BG1 NPC Project - [download] - Adds romance for Ajantis, Xan, Coran, Dynaheir, Shar-teel, and Branwen; as well as banters, quests, and interjections.

My favorite BG1 mod. Xan and Coran’s romances are the absolute best, but overall this mod just adds so much life to the game. It’s all the stuff that should have been in the game from the start.

Glam’s NPC Pack - [download] - 5 companions, no romance.

I’m here for [Vynd], here’s the standalone mod for him.

I haven’t tried the mod since the other NPCs were added.

White - [download] - A Human barbarian

Never really clicked for me, but a decently good mod.

Verr’Sza - [download] - A Rakshasa ranger

A favorite! An interesting companion and romance, but to be fair I prefer him in BG II.

Drake - [download] [forum] - A Human priest

A fun character, has a little romance in SoD (which I don’t have, but I went ahead and just read the dialogue files).

Zakrion - [download] - A Human duelist

Pretty good, I like Zakrion as a character, so I’m looking forward to his BG2 appearance (in development).

The ‘semi-romance path’ was kinda lackluster, speaking as someone playing specifically for the romance. If the BG2 Zakrion has romance, I imagine it might play out like ‘I was being silly, let’s try this again’. (that’s just my speculation/hope of course)

My favorite BG2 mod. Kivan’s romance is so sweet and well written! My canon Bhaalspawn Ales’elle romances Kivan.

To be fair I’ve never played this mod without romancing Kivan, but I’m sure Deheriana is lovely.

Xan - [download] - Adds Xan with new and rekindleable romance.

Another favorite! I love Xan a lot, but then again who doesn’t? Give this poor man some love.

Spoiler the new romance is 1000% angst bad ending only, now I’m sad...

Angelo - [download] - Adds Angelo (yes that Angelo).

I know what you’re thinking: Angelo? Romance? Yes and yes. It’s well written, though I understand it’ll only truly appeal to a special kind of person. (me)

Arath - [download] [github dl] - A Human druid.

An interesting NPC and romance. A rollercoaster of emotions.

Keldorn Romance - [download] - Adds a romance for Keldorn.

A patience required romance path for dear ol’ Keldorn. It’s well written, but again not really to my taste.

Gavin - [download] - Adds Gavin with new and rekindleable romance.

I found myself liking Gavin’s BG2 romance more than his BG1 romance. Maybe because it’s more adult rated?

Banter Pack - [download] - Adds banters.

I tend to have the same companions so I doubt I’ve seen more than 5% of the banters. lol…

Again, I probably don’t even see most of the banters! hahaha

Tsujatha - [download] - A necromancer Elf.

In my modding journeys it’s probably the go to mod to make fun of, with reason I suppose. The writing and romance aren’t award winning quality, but I still enjoy this mod a bit.

Yoshimo Friendship - [download] - Adds friendship with Yoshimo.

I don’t like angst, but if you like to suffer…

Yoshimo Romance - [download] - Adds romance with Yoshimo.

I would put this in the same category as Tsujatha, lots of mixed reviews I’ve seen. I do like the mod, but it’s not the direction I would have taken Solaufein in personally.

I think I read somewhere he set the standard for future romancable mod companions, so I’d say try this mod for that reason, but more importantly because it’s a great mod.

A favorite! A sweet and romantic companion mod.

It’s interesting from what I remember, kind of on the level of Tsujatha and Solaufein. If you like angst…

Faren - [download] - A human fighter/thief.

Another favorite! It’s sweet and funny, a winning combination.

[Installation fix] - 1) move all mods’ setup-modname files out of the installation location 2) copy Faren’s files in and install him 3) move the other mods’ setup-modname files back and continue installing

NPC Flirt Pack - [download] - Adds flirts to the original BG2 romances.

I don’t use this much because I basically just use Anomen to make other mods jealous…HAHAHAHAH

BG2 Romantic Encounters - [download] - Adds ‘romantic’ encounters throughout the game.
