#Hebert moon

Note
it's crazy to me how there's hateful fans in the rdr2 fanbase sometimes (rascists, homophobes, ect ect) granttes they're everywhere. When the game literally at mutiple points makes fun of these types of people, perfect example being Herbert moon in undead nightmare.
Now I'm not saying red dead is perfect, there are groups and topics I believe it represents poorly if not grossly at times.
I see fans that be acting like Herbert moon. Like dawg, John would watch you get mauled by a zombie. Sorry for the tangent I just think it's ironic
Oh TRUST ME I know this
Most guys I know irl that have played this game are same boys I see glorifying Nigel Farage and making the most outrageous comments that make you whip ur head around to be like wtf did you just say😧❓
NOT TO MENTION most of these people assume that like Arthur and John would back them up to say that Today's society is all snowflakes and shit over furries. I think to be honest 100% they would be a bit confused with the idea but decide it's not their business, and MOVE ON!!!
Gay people ? MOVE ON
immigrants ? MOVE ON
They forget how most characters will seemingly turn their heads away from things they don't personally understand, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. LIKE THEY SHOULD !!!
Herbert moon omg😭🙏
I crackled during his whole monologue because he said he hates Mexicans, and ESPECIALLY British homosexual Catholics (said in that order and repeated by John) ..because I'm a half Mexican- half British Catholic homosexual 😭💔
What a combo ??? Herbert's archnemesis
But fr fr I get u it IS ironic you so right 😭🙏🙏

The Strange Man's hut
Now, the Strange Man's hut is nothing short of a mystery, and there is an abundance of things in it which is interesting from references to the choices you make in game to personal belongings of the strange man, so here are my highlights.
"The water is black with venom", "The moon will shine on even in darkness" and the map of Armadillo is to me a reference to Hebert Moon's deal with the strange man.
The Strange Man's hat
"From the snow to the cave" is to me the rdr2 story which starts in the snow of Colter and ends with Beaver's Hollow.
"I gave everything for art. And I learned too much and nothing at all." this one I am not entirely sure what to make of, but I would guess it is Dutch's story with philosophy. It is him giving everything to become the man he wanted to be, he gave everything to his ideals, yet in the end it is revealed he was a fraud. He gave everything and learned too much yet nothing at all.
The melting painting of The Strange man which after being finished will, yes, melt and at the bottom:
what looks like a puddle of blood??
Jimmy Brooks Poem.
This flower that to my untrained eye looks like a grown version of Arthurs

1-5 and 22-25 for the End-of-Year Book ask, please?
Hey, thanks for the ask!
Questions are from this, if anyone else wants to participate
1 How many books did you read this year?
55!
2 Did you reread anything? What?
I reread Dune, Keeper of the Lost Cities, Little Women, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, The Book Thief, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
3 What were your top five books of the year?
This is so hard! Not including rereads, my top books are:
These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
The Bone Shard War by Andrea Stewart
Children of Dune by Frank Hebert
The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
4 Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?
Maybe Chloe Gong? I really want to read other books by her in 2025.
5 What genre did you read the most of?
Fantasy, by far
22 What’s the longest book you read?
Flashback by Shannon Messenger
23 What’s the fastest time it took you to read a book?
I think it was The Boy, the Mole, the Horse, and the Fox by Charlie Mackesy. I read it in about 15 minutes.
24 Did you DNF anything? Why?
Yes, I think I only DNFed two books.
The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo because it was too sexual graphic for me.
The Redemption of Sarah Cain by Beverly Lewis mainly because I didn't like the writing style.
25 What reading goals do you have for the next year?
I have a list of reading goals here that I made a little while ago that I'm continuing into 2025.

5 + 1 Fic Friday Roundups: Overpowered AF
It's March which apparently has the "Worm Moon". What's more Worm fandom than out of context powers being OP as f*ck? So have some OP protagonists.
Tyrant (SB) - "Brockton Bay meets the unstoppable force and the unmoveable object that is the CYOAv1 Alexandria Package. It doesn't go well."
Hive Daughter (FF) - "At that exact moment, Taylor Hebert connected to a vast alien entity. In most universes, she gets the power to control insects, in some, she gets a slightly different power. In this universe, in some cosmic case of wrong telephone number, Taylor connected to the wrong vast alien entity. In this universe, for a few seconds, Taylor Hebert connected to the Tyranid Hive Mind."
Nailing the Sword (AO3) - "Taylor and a group of other disillusioned teens are given powers that easily surpass even the most powerful parahumans on Earth Bet. They don't take Brockton Bay by storm, but they do make waves with long reaching consequences."
Blood and Magic (AO3) - "Harry has problems after the war, so he moves to the States, where everything is muggle and dull and perfectly normal. Except for the thestrals he brought with him, and the vampires who keep showing up around him."
Shadow Magic (AO3 / FF) - "HPTN slash. AU. Harry was born with a power the Dark Lord knows not: the magic to see into shadows, to walk the shadows, and to send the shadows everywhere. This changes his life rather dramatically. Amoral Harry, seven parts. COMPLETE."
Bonus: Listen, Strange Space Wizards in Temples Distributing Laser Swords is No Basis for a System of Government (AO3) - "Before the Death Star can begin its campaign of terror against the Rebel Alliance, the attention of the Empire is diverted to the Unknown Regions, where Imperial forces have recently made contact with an irritatingly governed high-tech civilization calling itself the Culture. In response to the Culture's rebuffs of Imperial demands, the dreaded Death Star has been sent to display the Emperor's disapproval and bring this 'Culture' to its knees."

Rough unfiltered thoughts - I know I have mentioned the web serial Worm (para humans.wordpress.net) on here once in a blue moon and I think like. The starting conceit - Taylor Hebert being an aspiring teenaged superhero who decides to infiltrate a group of similarly teenage supervillain and turn them in, then finding that these villains are the closest thing she has to friends, is a nifty take on the genre. Taylor struggling to at least try to maintain a moral code and avoid killing when her power is literally controlling creepy crawlies. I think there are a lot of segments though that just don't do it for me, like pretty much everything after a certain point in the serial. Slaughterhouse Nine arc is the highlight of the series. Never gets better than the original Slaughterhouse Nine arc. Bonesaw. Siberian. Shatterbird.

HANGING OUT AT MEZZROW’S
MIKE LEDONNE with John Webber and Willie Jones III, 3 FEBRUARY 2024, 7:30 pm
STEVE ASH with Harvie S and Alvester Garnett, 3 FEBRUARY 2024, 10:30 pm
RAY GALLON with Paul Gill and Jason Brown, 1 FEBRUARY 2024, 10:30 pm
It is rarely a bad week for pianos in general and at Mezzrow’s, I have been pleasantly “stuck” with them after a sojourn of drummerless trios with brass. Back to basics and yet there are connections to those standards heavy shows. Most especially, the best parts of Richie Vitale’s gig were STEVE ASH’s forceful piano and Paul Gill’s bowed bass solos. So I got to see both of them more on their own terms, including Gill with regular partner RAY GALLON.
I had also ventured into Alvaro Torres’ freer/New Music set with John Hebert and Barry Altschul comfortable enough to have my ears stretched that way. He is a sparer pianist, so the counter was a strong set from Miki Yamanaka and then, in person, Billy Childs with Ari Hoenig. Yamanaka, Childs, MIKE LEDONNE, and Ash all play with rich power and insistent swing. Far from tame, they each have nifty surprises within structures that give a sense of familiarity.
I have often found MIKE LEDONNE a bit heavy handed particularly in trios (his role in large ensembles plays to that strength), but he was well suited to my mood. The tunes were bright and interesting—from Billy Eckstine, Cedar Walton, Coltrane maybe (it was a not too reverential After the Rain), and a couple of originals. He was like all of them, a nice mix of fluidity, percussiveness, and lyricism. Willie Jones III was, as always, delightful and important; John Webber was strong and fluid. They were a big, bright band.
STEVE ASH was also very strong and dynamic, maybe a tiny bit subtler. He did have Harvie S on bass and, with Alverster Garnett, they had a new recording to highlight. I liked their material—You and the Night and the Music, I’m Just a Lucky So and So, Bud Powell’s Una Nocha Con Francis (bebop and Latin!), a Jobim, Effendi (strong and modal but evoking McCoy Tyner, not imitating him), an original (I think) ballad, and Speak Low. Harvie S’s strums high on the finger board on Effendi stood out, but it was interesting to see him with a “bigger” trio than with Alan Broadbent and Billy Mintz.
I hope it is not faint praise to call RAY GALLON a welterweight among these cruiser- even heavy- weights. Calling Hank Mobley the middleweight champion of the tenor in the 1950s was meant as an insult, though it shouldn’t be. I simply mean his touch is lighter and he goes a bit back into the source material. He did not open, as he did the last few times I saw him, with Ellington’s Harlem Air Shaft, but did include Moon Song from a 1959 Louis Armstrong date with Oscar Peterson. Pops is Pops and timeless, but he doesn’t get as directly referenced much these days. Still the original opener Plus One sounded Ellington-ish, particularly given my expectations. His previous second tune Two Track Mind was the closer, but a slightly deconstructed Nardis was third almost as expected. His Zombette did have a French feel, a bit of those Debussy Preludes discordances. His touch is just slightly lighter and the rhythmic drive subtler. Perhaps Gill’s arco solos are part of that, but Jason Brown’s drumming with just one ride cymbal was as crisp and inventive as Garnett and Jones III.
Throw in Yamanaka and Childs and this is a strong run for me with my preferred format.

Herbert Moon and his deal with the devil
Hebert Moon and his whole existance might be one of the most interesting supernational phenomenons in the entire Red Dead franchise. To those who do not recongise the name you might recongize him from Undead Nightmare where he yelled about hating practially anyone who isn't white, protestant, straight, male, ya know.
This lovely fella/j.
Now in the storyline he has very little importance, but when you look around and start sniffing at his life you realise that he has had a MASSIVE impact on the world around him, mostly Armadillo as he is possibly the reason the whole town is dying from cholera, making his death count estounding.
Now what is the reason that I, as well as many others, believe that he did this? Well the first clue is in his shop.
If you, with John, go into his general store in Armadillo you will not only find him mocking everyone dying around him, but also a picture of the strange man, something John will comment on and Hebert will reply was just some dude who gave it to him.
Now if you then go to the strange man's hut in rdr2 you will find a large amount of things tracing him to Hebert, first of which being writing on the wall saying "the moon will shine on in the darkness" refering to Hebert's imunity to the sickness killing everything around him. The second thing is another writing, saying "the water is black with posion," some find this to have something to do with Butchers Creek, others, as myself, find this to be a reference to the cholera traveling through the water as many signs in the town warns of.
Even more dooming than the first two things, a map of Armadillo with a few blood stains and the writing "I offered you happiness or two generations, you made your choice" can be found. And what links this poem to Hebert? The letter he has which you can take from him after killing him.
The letter is from his daughter whom he disowned after she married a jew and had son with him. Hebert got his two generations, he got a daughter and he got a grandchild, but he cannot be happy, that is the deal, so the son in law is a person of a religon he hates and the town around him is dying.

5 min read NASA’s Dragonfly Tunnel Visions Dragonfly Team Utilizes Unique NASA Facilities to Shape Its Innovative Titan-bound Rotorcraft Dragonfly team members review the half-scale lander model after it underwent wind tunnel testing at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Pictured are (from left) Art Azarbarzin, Juan Cruz, Wayne Dellinger, Zibi Turtle, Chuck Hebert, Ken Hibbard, Bernadine Juliano and Bruce Owens.Johns Hopkins APL/Ed Whitman With its dense atmosphere and low gravity, Saturn’s moon Titan is a great place to fly. But well before NASA’s Dragonfly rotorcraft lander soars through Titan’s skies, researchers on Earth – led by the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland – are making sure their designs and models for the nuclear-powered, car-sized drone will work in a truly unique environment. Artist’s impression of the Dragonfly rotorcraft lander on the surface of Titan, Saturn’s largest moon and a major target in NASA’s quest to assess habitability and search for potential signs of life beyond Earth on worlds across the solar system.NASA/Johns Hopkins APL/Steve Gribben Dragonfly, NASA’s only mission to the surface of another ocean world, is designed to investigate the complex chemistry that is the precursor to life. The vehicle, which APL will build and operate, will be equipped with cameras, sensors and samplers to examine swaths of Titan known to contain organic materials that may, at some point in Titan’s complex history, have come in contact with liquid water beneath the organic-rich, icy surface. To transport those science instruments across the moon, Dragonfly’s four pairs of coaxial rotors (meaning one rotor is stacked above the other) will need to slice through Titan’s dense, nitrogen-rich atmosphere. Four times in the past three years, the mission team has headed to Virginia to test its flight systems in one-of-a-kind facilities at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Mission engineers have conducted two test campaigns in NASA Langley’s 14-by-22-foot Subsonic Tunnel, and two in the 16-foot Transonic Dynamics Tunnel (TDT). They use the Subsonic Tunnel to validate computational fluid dynamics models and data gathered from integrated test platforms – terrestrial drones outfitted with Dragonfly-designed flight electronics. They use the variable-density heavy gas capabilities of the TDT to validate its models under simulated Titan atmospheric conditions — one aerodynamic stability test of the aeroshell that is used to deliver the Lander to a release point above Titan’s surface and one to model the Lander’s rotors aerodynamics. “All of these tests feed into our Dragonfly Titan simulations and performance predictions,” said Ken Hibbard, Dragonfly mission systems engineer at APL. On its latest trip to NASA Langley, in June, the team set up a half-scale Dragonfly lander model, complete with eight rotors, in the 14-by-22 Subsonic Tunnel. Test lead Bernadine Juliano of APL said the campaign focused on two flight configurations: Dragonfly’s descent and transition to powered flight upon arrival at Titan, and forward flight over Titan’s surface. “We tested conditions across the expected flight envelope at a variety of wind speeds, rotor speeds, and flight angles to assess the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle,” she said. “We completed more than 700 total runs, encompassing over 4,000 individual data points. All test objectives were successfully accomplished and the data will help increase confidence in our simulation models on Earth before extrapolating to Titan conditions.” APL engineers are analyzing the 14-by-22 test data with mission flight team partners at the University of Central Florida, Penn State University, Lockheed Martin Sikorsky, NASA Langley and NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, California. Rick Heisler, the Dragonfly wind tunnel test lead from APL who heads the TDT test campaigns, said each trip to NASA Langley has given the team a chance to hone its technical models and designs and, specifically in the TDT, gain a better idea of how Dragonfly’s rotors will perform in Titan’s exotic atmosphere. “The heavy gas environment in the TDT has a density three-and-a-half times higher than air while operating at sea level ambient pressure and temperature,” Heisler said, “This allows the rotors to operate at near-Titan conditions and better replicate the lift and dynamic loading the actual lander will experience. The data we acquire are used to validate predictions of the lander aerodynamics, aero-structural performance and rotor fatigue life in the harsh cryogenic environment on Titan.” “With Dragonfly, we’re turning science fiction into exploration fact,” Hibbard said. “The mission is coming together piece by piece, and we’re excited for every next step toward sending this revolutionary rotorcraft across the skies and surface of Titan.” Part of NASA’s New Frontiers Program, Dragonfly is scheduled to launch no earlier than 2027 and arrive at Titan in the mid-2030s. Principal Investigator Elizabeth Turtle of APL leads a mission team that includes engineers, scientists and specialists from APL as well as NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland; Lockheed Martin Space in Littleton, Colorado; NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, California; NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia; Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania; University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida; Lockheed Martin Sikorsky in Stratford, Connecticut; Malin Space Science Systems in San Diego; Honeybee Robotics in Pasadena, California; NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California; CNES (Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales) in Paris; the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne, Germany; and JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) in Tokyo. Astro-Inspiration for March 2, 2023: As the World Turns
To repeat from yesterday: “Don’t throw caution to the wind, remember too much of a good thing can be just that ... too much. You’re feeling a desire for self-preservation and your mind turns toward seriously considering issues surrounding self-discipline and the mental blocks impeding the way forward. But you’ll also notice a new, more sensitive, subjective, and intuitive approach is taking hold, and you could feel more vulnerable to everything you see and read. Don’t play the victim game.... but do notice people in the world who truly have been victimized and need support.
Taken together, this energy could arouse some anxiety or cause erratic behavior, so be mindful when interacting with others. On a more positive note, think expansion, prosperity, or an exhilarating breakthrough... perhaps an opportunity of a lifetime, or planting seeds of thought for a kinder, gentler future.
Today’s Quote
“Inequality and poverty, health and wealth are hand in hand. And if we are all born equal that should be true in all lands. We cannot divide the world between poor and rich countries. It's like saying the ones are good, the others are junkies. That can only increase more prejudice, miseries and sorrow. Turning the wheel today will lead to a better tomorrow.” ~ Ana Claudia Antunes
Today’s Sky
Venus in Aries Conjunct Jupiter in Aries. Mercury in Aquarius Conjunct Saturn in Aquarius, Mercury enters Pisces. Moon in Cancer Sextile Uranus in Taurus, Trine Neptune.
Note: On March 7th, Saturn moves from Aquarius to Pisces, and everyone is already beginning to feel this energy shift. Contemplate Hemingway’s novella “Old Man and the Sea.” The story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal -- a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Like the story of the “Old Man and the Sea,” Saturn in Pisces will remind the world of a fundamental human truth: in a volatile world, from our first breath to our last wish, through triumphs and pitfalls both trivial and profound, what ultimately sustains us is faith and hope.
