Yeah Andrewism's been pissing me off for a while now. I initially skipped the political cults video because I knew it'd just be a retreading of his shitty podcast episodes.

He's a frequent guest on It Could Happen Here, and he did a two parter on the LaRouche movement, but instead of focusing on their history or their beliefs or even just staying on topic of that particular cult, he kept just going "blah blah all ML movements are cults, blah blah all statists are cults, blah blah there's no difference between an organisation with a stated ideology and a high control group", and it just felt like anti-learning. No good warnings of behaviours from organisations to watch out for, just ideologies to watch out for, because there never has been and never will be an anarchist cult it's impossible. It was like a reddit atheist going "all religions are cults there's no difference between heaven's gate and a small church people only go to for weddings and holidays".

And also him saying he wouldn't mention right-wing cults bc everyone knows they're bad - like, why not compare and contrast these groups? Why skip them if not to just completely ignore that they're the bigger more pressing concern? I don't know of any neo-Jim Jones-ian groups that exist nowadays, but there sure are giant well funded megachurches that say Trump is the second coming.

Even if you did want to make this hypothetical video, wouldn't it just be better to call it ML cults, and list the bad organisations and the cultic tactics they use? I'm p sure the average breadtube fan has heard of the BITE model.

He also really took umbrage when FD Signifire promoted a Chemical Mind video defending people who get called "tankies", and said they would talk privately about it.

Also it does bear mentioning that the usual host of It Could Happen Here is Robert Evans of Behind the Bastards, whom many people have suspicions about due to his work for the NED-funded Bellingcat. I know that's just guilt-by-association, but those two are associated.

NEW YORK — A crowd of pro-Israel protesters gathered just outside the Columbia University campus on Thursday evening, chanting through the gates at a group of pro-Palestinian students inside to “go to Gaza!” “Go home, terrorists!” the pro-Israel crowd screamed at the students. “Go back to Gaza!” they yelled. “Stop wasting mommy and daddy’s money!” one man said through a megaphone. “You want to camp? Go camp in Gaza!” said another man, referring to the Palestinian territory where Israel’s siege has killed some 33,000 people, and where this week local health officials said medics had discovered mass graves at hospitals raided by Israeli troops.

The White House — which under President Joe Biden has continued to send aid and weapons to Israel months after the International Court of Justice ruled that Palestinians in Gaza were at risk of experiencing a genocide — responded to HuffPost’s video of the incident in a statement Friday. “Every American is an American, full stop,” deputy press secretary Andrew Bates said. “It is bigoted and outrageous to suggest that anyone should ‘go back’ anywhere. These kinds of statements degrade all of us, whether it’s telling someone to ‘go back’ to Gaza, or telling someone to ‘go back’ to Belarus and Poland, which was captured in other videos yesterday — countries where Jews were victims of the Holocaust and pogroms. President Biden stands against hateful rhetoric, and believes we must constantly respect the dignity of all people, regardless of disagreements about policy.”

The pro-Israel demonstration Thursday was helmed by a group of far-right Christian nationalist figures. Sean Feucht, the prominent MAGA pastor and musician, was the main organizer of the “Unite for Israel” rally. Feucht is closely tied to a slew of prominent Republican lawmakers, once bestowing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis with a “Defending Freedom” award at a Miami “Let Us Worship” event, meeting with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Capitol Hill, and praying over former President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. He has appeared multiple times on Fox News, is a regular on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, and is close with Jack Posobiec, the far-right influencer who has a history of making antisemitic remarks. Ahead of the rally Feucht said in a livestreamed video that the “rise” in antisemitism on college campuses was another welcome harbinger of the end days. Many American evangelicals, like Feucht, see the return of Jews to Israel as key to an End Times prophecy that would usher in the Second Coming of Christ and commence true Christians’ ascent to heaven. These evangelicals believe at that moment Jews will have to convert to Christianity or perish — a belief grounded in antisemitism. [...] Columbia’s pro-Palestinian encampment quickly became a lightning rod for accusations of antisemitism, with right-wing politicians and media figures falsely equating the students’ criticism of Israel with hatred for Jews. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) even held a press conference on campus Wednesday, calling on Biden to take action, and suggesting the president may need to summon the National Guard to end the encampment.

A pro-Israel Apartheid march led by far-right Christian nationalist Sean Feucht on Thursday at Columbia University in New York featured inflammatory chants aimed at anti-Gaza Genocide protesters such as "go home, terrorists" and "Go back to Gaza".

What: Guy named Hans is a gambler. God and Saint Peter come down to hang out for a night at Hans’ place and they give him money to buy food which he fails to do in favor of the gambling house. God was still chill I guess because the next couple days they were there he told Hans he’d grant him three wishes. Hans wished for cards that would always make him win and dice that would always make him win. And also a tree that if anyone ever climbed, they could only get down by Hans saying so. He gambled until he won almost half the world. St. Peter told God that they needed to send Death after Hans because he was about to win the world. Death was going to kill Hans but Hans tricked Death into climbing his tree - the one that no one could climb down from without permission. He stayed up there for seven years. Then St. Peter and God came down and told Hans to free Death, and as soon as Hans did, Death strangled him “on the spot”.

Hans went to the gates of haven and knocked and heaven turned him away. He went to purgatory and they sent him away. Then he went to hell and he was let in and he just started gambling again (with his cards and dice) so eventually he won some devils off of Lucifer and used them to attack heaven with poles. St. Peter then told God to let Hans in heaven because otherwise he’ll overthrow them so they let him in. Hans immediately started gambling again in heaven and St. Peter and God finally took him and threw him back to earth and - “His soul was smashed to pieces as a result, and some of the flying fragments worked their way into many gamblers who are still alive today.”

Thoughts: When I first heard this on the podcast I died laughing. The man just wouldn’t stop gambling… all the way to hell and heaven and earth. Also not the only appearance of St. Peter and God in Grimm stories lmao. I’m sure there’s a lesson here about addiction and how we treat people with it (in a rough sort of way) but mainly this is just a really entertaining journey for someone who just does what they want and are sort of rewarded for it. I love the Hans stories (aka basic generic weird Germanic lead guy) and I pretend they’re all about one same guy named Hans. I’m set to read the Hans marriage one which is also so good. This guy Hans gets around
