Love triangles never work, and they’re never necessary to tell worthwhile, believable love stories, yet somehow (and I can’t believe I’m saying this), When Calls the Heart makes it significantly less frustrating. I expected to hate everything about Elizabeth Thornton’s see-sawing adventures with Nathan Grant and Lucas Bouchard, but to my absolute surprise, the show makes the choices feel earned and understandable. It ensures that we comprehend why both men are worthy and why there’d be confusion in the first place.

While some storylines remain up in the air, and it’d be preferable to see all characters happily with their person, the show feels like it knows exactly what it’s doing for the time being.

School is back in session at Hope Valley, and guilt is a prominent force in more ways than one. Twelve seasons is a tremendous accomplishment for any series, and When Calls the Heart standing its ground year after year is entirely a testament to the characters, performers, and thoughtful writing. We’re in for a ride this season, but in the true spirit of this show, everything’s going to be okay by the end.

The biggest issue I have with this episode is the beginning, primarily revolving around why the superintendent made finding a medal seem like a terrifying tragedy of sorts. But that aside, “The Mountie Way” doesn’t signal smooth sailing, in fact, I hope that we’ll continue to explore some of the matters brought up here because none of these issues are an overnight fix. Fear and guilt are locked in a convoluted box together, and unpacking them is going to take a lot more than a few conversations. And I, for one, am excited to see how it all unravels.

Why Are They Like This When Child Actors Are Involved?

A mentally healthy person would see a scene where two children who have both lost a parent are finally having a family dinner and being happy, but not these Team Lucas fans. It takes some big, hypocritical balls for people who lose their mind at a grown man sipping tea to shit on other people for getting enjoyment from a "mundane" scene like this.
