Our respectable Prime Minister launched Digital Healthcare Ecosystem, ABDM, by video conferencing on 27th September 2021 among many national dignitaries. Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission connects the digital health solutions of hospitals across the country. This mission has not only made the process of digitalization very simple but also has increased the ease of living. The Digital health system also enables a host of other facilities like Digital Consultation, the approvals of patients in letting medical practitioners access their records, etc.
With the implementation of this scheme, old medical records cannot get lost as every health data is stored digitally. Features like these provoke the adoption of it in every healthcare facility across the nation. To get a detailed description of this topic, let us start by knowing the Digital health ecosystem ABDM.

Universities secretly sold their students to online casinos
Tumblr media
End-stage capitalism’s defining characteristic is making money rather than making things. Think of how Jack Welch destroyed GE by transforming it from a manufacturing company to a financial engineering shop:
https://the.ink/p/like-capitalism-itself-business-journalism
Hospitals are invoice-generating factories with a sideline in medicine. The electronic health record only incidentally records your health. Its primary purpose is to record your billing-codes:
https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/ehrs/physicians-spending-nearly-2-hours-a-day-on-ehr-tasks-outside-work.html
And universities? Ugh. Most universities now have more administrators than faculty:
https://www.jamesgmartin.center/2022/08/administrative-bloat-harms-teaching-and-learning/
Much of that “administration” comes down to begging alums for money to funnel into vast endowments, but heaven forfend those endowments would be used to cover payroll and other essentials, even in a pandemic emergency:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/reneemorad/2020/04/21/harvard-under-fire-for-accepting-nearly-9-million-in-coronavirus-relief-funds/
Nor are endowment funds available to pay the education workers who actually teach students, but can’t afford the rent, food, or family:
https://www.capradio.org/articles/2022/11/14/nearly-50000-university-of-california-graduate-student-employees-launch-open-ended-strike/
The point of the endowment is to increase the size of the endowment — not to improve educational outcomes or research. That’s why Harvard is “A hedge fund that has a university”:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-hedge-fund-that-has-a-university-1510615228
This is the overwhelming logic of capital: capital exists to increase capital, and the underlying mechanism for that increase is irrelevant. This was the reasoning behind the surreal bid to sell the .ORG nonprofit registry to a secretive hedge-fund.
The point of the .ORG registry is to host domain records for nonprofits; incidentally, this throws off some extra money that is turned into grants for public interest projects. The board decided to sell off .ORG so it could make more of these grants, despite the fact that this would compromise the mission of hosting .ORG domain records:
https://www.eff.org/press/releases/org-domain-registry-sale-ethos-capital-rejected-stunning-victory-public-interest
Likewise, this was the reasoning of the Mountain Equipment Co-Op board when they decided to sell off the member-owned co-op (“the most trusted brand in Canada”) to a US private equity fund without consulting the members:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/16/spike-lee-joint/#casse-le-mec
The expand-capital-at-all-costs mindset is a virulent species of brain worms. It’s the basis for surreal movements like effective altruism, which encourages people who want to do good for the world to sell out to the most toxic industries on Earth, amass gigantic fortunes, and then, upon their death, donate them to causes that in some way remediate the harms they themselves wreaked:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earning_to_give
In his new book Survival of the Richest, Douglas Rushkoff calls this “The Mindset” — “I need to make vast amounts of money, no matter what the consequences, or I will not be able to afford to insulate myself from the consequences of how I made all that money”:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/09/13/collapse-porn/#collapse-porn
Once you let people with The Mindset anywhere near your institution, they will take it over and turn it into a paperclip-maximizing killing machine, one that abandons and then betrays its mission to increase its profits, eventually killing its host. Anything that can’t go on forever will eventually stop:
https://doctorow.medium.com/anything-that-cant-go-on-forever-will-eventually-stop-110ba9711133
That’s what’s happened to higher ed. It’s not just the payroll full of starving adjuncts, facilities workers, etc. It’s not just the way that universities join forces with textbook monopolists to gouge their students:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/10/07/markets-in-everything/#textbook-abuses
Beyond academics having to rely on food-stamps, students going into lifetime debt to enrich predatory textbook monopolies, and the other horrors of financialized higher ed, there’s the special evil of college sports.
Like all finance-bro motivated reasoning, college sports are sold as a way to do well by doing good: Look! We’re giving poor people a chance at a great education based on their physical prowess, and we’re racking up tons of money for the university!”
But — like all finance schemes — college sports is a self-licking ice-cream cone that destroys the lives of the people who generate value for it, even as it devours its host institution from within.
Did you know that until very recently, college athletes weren’t allowed to make a penny from their labor?
https://www.scotusblog.com/2021/06/in-unanimous-ruling-court-agrees-with-athletes-that-ncaa-violated-antitrust-laws/
Did you know that those same athletes experience lifelong brain injuries?
https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2791303
Did you know that college sports are a cesspit of long-term, officially tolerated sexual abuse?
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/nov/30/ohio-state-michigan-doctors-sexual-abuse-college-football
Did you know that the highest paid public employee in many states is a football coach at a state college?
https://www.profootballnetwork.com/highest-paid-college-football-coaches-2022/
Did you know that college coaches conspired with the rich parents to steal sport-related admission slots from poor kids and give them to mediocre winners of the orifice-lottery?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varsity_Blues_scandal
In many universities — whether public or private — the sports program effectively runs the show. Take the University of New Hampshire: back in 2016, a university librarian named Robert Morin left his life’s savings to the school after 50 years of service. Morin lived frugally for that half century and amassed a personal fortune of $4m.
He believed so deeply in the university’s mission that he turned it all over to the school without any restrictions. Talk about earning to give! The university blew Morin’s gift on a new jumbotron for their sports stadium:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/09/16/university-to-buy-1-million-football-scoreboard-with-thrifty-librarians-money-outraging-critics/
The people who see universities as inconvenient adjuncts to exploitative sports teams know that there are still rivals within higher ed who think the point of the school is to educate students.
That’s why the universities that arranged to allow sports gambling websites to target the young people in their care did so in secret.
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/20/business/caesars-sports-betting-universities-colleges.html?unlocked_article_code=AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACEIPuonUktbfqYhlSVUZAybfQMMmqBCdnr_EybEnj2XlaTONTixe1KEfDpSc-kHCILdlZsU-xS-aWN5MK_okQ_h2w-BSJAptVwys6NOiqagyHh8U-8i1T39kmNXER6w5-jvnKWDmIe5ymOTn-hvbbzH1XKzbg2lxIVpvvZY2d12t3yMDwKmVFfVnmYUrhYdXDZ54TT8KZiWY7bK_W1glZoLwPlyL4RI2WupZRTnQgdWfjrsCew5TAl7FJ2httSd-sJgPfYNKY9usakIoa8H8gr4OCmd3LYvPBpQ5RILck70Coqf9dPDE9RFVhqXegnp2EK4F
Writing for the New York Times, Anna Betts, Andrew Little, Elizabeth Sander, Alexandra Tremayne-Pengelly and Walt Bogdanich reveal the extraordinary corruption and depravity of college administrators who colluded with sports book companies to bring gambling to campus.
Implicated in the scandal are such top schools as Michigan State, U Colorado Bolder, Louisiana State, Syracuse and Texas Christian Univeristy (mission: “to educate individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens”).
On the casino side, the major player is Caesar’s, which is only fitting — Caesar’s was driven to bankruptcy by private equity who managed to financialize a casino into ruin:
https://www.ft.com/content/a0ed27c6-a2d4-11e7-b797-b61809486fe2
Caesar’s offered universities millions of dollars for the right to directly sports betting to students. The MSU deal, brokered by university officials Paul Schager and Alan Haller, was worth $8.4m. That is to say, Caesar’s was asking the university to help it drain at least $8.4m from students’ bank accounts in order to turn a profit.
Louisiana State U did a similar deal with Caesar’s, and then embarked on a direct marketing campaign to sell sports gambling to students who were too young to legally place a bet.
LSU says this was a mistake. Cody Worsham, a university official who holds two offices — associate athletic director and chief brand officer (!!) — said that Caesar’s and LSU “share a commitment to responsible, age-appropriate marketing.”
Meanwhile, U Colorado Boulder struck a deal where it earned a $30 bounty every time a student went from non-gambler to gambler — in other words, Boulder didn’t make money by advertising gambling to students — it made money only if its students started gambling.
These student gambling programs are designed to keep children betting even if they lose money, with teaser offers that refund some losses if students keep placing bets.
This is obviously unsavory stuff. That’s why the architects of these programs went to enormous lengths to keep it secret. The state schools involved funneled their deals through private marketing agencies that were shielded from FOIA requests, specifically to prevent the public from learning how public universities were conducting their affairs.
As MSU executive associate athletic director Paul Schager put it: “With the multimedia rights holder, public institutions like Michigan State no longer have to disclose all those sponsorship deals. This helps with the sponsors being able to spend what they feel is appropriate without having the public or employees or stockholders question that investment.”
The deals themselves are far-reaching. As part of MSU’s Caesar’s deal, tailgate parties before big games would be “Caesarized,” with the casino providing ad-copy for the live announcers to read to attendees. As a figleaf, $25,000 of the millions that MSU received from Caesar’s was earmarked for gambling addiction education.
The deals weren’t just kept secret from the public — they were also hidden from top university oversight. At UC Bolder, the Board of Regents was informed of the deal mere hours before it was announced to the public.
These deals have only been running for a couple months and it’s too soon to chart the long-term harms they’ll create in the student body. But, the Times* notes, there is an one harm that surfaced almost immediately: student athletes are now subject to vicious abuse by their fellow students, who lose money they can’t afford when their peers lose a game.

What John Oliver gets wrong about The Satanic Temple and abortion rights
In the most recent episode of HBO's "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver", he made a mention of a particular publicity stunt by a certain satanic for-profit business-cum-church.
In so doing, he demonstrated perfectly the way The Satanic Temple's grift works, and the limitations of "Last Week Tonight" as an actual news program rather than what it is: a popularizer and disseminator of the work done by others.
If the show had done a proper investigation, they would have immediately found huge red flags involving the Temple's clinic that call into question its legitimacy entirely. Since they did not, we'll show you what so many have missed despite being out in the open.
youtube
JOHN OLIVER: But also, note that we can still act here. Some have taken some small steps in the last year that are, if nothing else, immensely satisfying. Like this one that was covered by a Catholic news network. > TRACY SABOL: An international group named after Satan will soon open its first abortion business in the United States. > > The Satanic Temple, which claims to not believe in a literal Satan, will provide telehealth screenings and prescribe abortion pills for patients in New Mexico. The name of the soon-to-be facility? The Samuel Alito's Mom's Satanic Abortion Clinic. (AUDIENCE CHEERS) JOHN OLIVER: Incredible. Very well played. Now, is that gonna fix everything? No, of course it isn't. But when it comes to responding to such wide spreading devastation, you could do a lot worse than the single best "your mom" joke of all time. Especially when you add in that one of the group's co-founders even said, "In 1950, Samuel Alito's mother did not have options, and look what happened."
That seems like pretty high praise, and the show moves on without further comment on it.
From this, you would not know that The Satanic Temple fundamentally jeopardized the legitimacy of this telehealth clinic by utilizing fake names on government documents for its New Mexico corporations registry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Malcolm Jarry" is the pseudonym of TST co-owner Cevin Soling; despite listing two different addresses and listing him twice, "Lucien Greaves" is the same person as Douglas Misicko.
Doing this is almost certainly literally perjury, as has come up in court for them before.
Tumblr media
Actually, several times.
Tumblr media
To repeat: You do not get to lie and use a fake name for yourself on government documents, particularly documents establishing legal ownership of your corporation.
In any proper legal challenge to The Satanic Temple's clinic, including anyone who treats TST's marketing as credible and wants to use it as a shield against abortion bans, this would be found out and it would absolutely put the entire endeavor in jeopardy.
Of course, it gets worse.
Here's what the Temple says on its website about this clinic, emphasis added:
Q: Abortion is illegal where I live. Can I still get an abortion with TST Health? A: Abortion is legal in New Mexico. Regardless of where you live, if you are in the state of New Mexico during your video consultation and when you perform your abortion ritual, you will have abided by the law. However, if you travel to a state where abortion is illegal and need follow-up care, there may be some risks. Unfortunately, we don’t have enough information to know how state laws will be enforced. We believe that the religious nature of our care neutralizes this risk, but state courts must affirm this, and we are working toward attaining that confirmation.
And here are the kinds of billboards TST has run around the country and in its Facebook ads in bids for attention and while soliciting money:
Tumblr media
“Our religious Abortion Ritual Averts Many State Restrictions”.
Yet, when The Satanic Temple sued a billboard company that was unwilling to run that demonstrably false advertisement, TST owner Cevin Soling had to admit in his deposition that he was not aware of any examples where Satanism had been successfully used to avert a state restriction on abortion, including their own previous attempts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As of November 2023, The Satanic Temple has lost six (6) abortion-ban challenges, lost them in state and in federal court, lost them at the district court, appellate court, and supreme courts.
TST has never helped someone avert a state law restricting abortion. But they have fundraised heavily off of the idea that they can.
How much? It's very tough to say because "The Satanic Temple, Inc." d/b/a "TST Health Inc." and "Sam Alito's Mom's Satanic Abortion Clinic Inc." is not a regular nonprofit: it's a tax-exempt church. And as a tax-exempt church, it is under no legal requirement to report its finances.
John Oliver famously created "Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption" in 2015 to highlight the problems inherent with this, so you might argue that TST is just doing the same thing and attempting to bring awareness to a problem with the U.S. tax code.
Except that Oliver shut his corporation down after a month and reported its finances, meanwhile "The Satanic Temple Inc." chugs along year after year soliciting money and providing no financial transparency about how much money is coming in or where it's being spent. (Say, pursuing various SLAPP actions against ex-members; again, Oliver would know something about being on the receiving end of one of those.)
Of course it gets even more complicated.
The Satanic Temple's owners registered their tax-exempt church "The Satanic Temple Inc." in New Mexico as, among other things, "TST Health Inc." and have been promoting merchandise for it as well.
Tumblr media
But the merch lacks the "tax-deductible" notification, which is the only way on TST's website to distinguish purchases benefitting the for-profit "United Federation of Churches LLC d/b/a 'The Satanic Temple' " from its nonprofit "The Satanic Temple (Inc.)".
Tumblr media
How much money did The Satanic Temple bring in specifically for this telehealth clinic based on its fundraising campaigns? We don't know, and TST's owners won't tell you.
How many people did The Satanic Temple actually help with its telehealth clinic? We don't know — although we did get some idea from TST's failed Indiana abortion-ban lawsuit where TST indicated "over two dozen" people in a state with existing abortion clinics where abortion was legal had been able to be helped between February and June 2023.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, as part of the same proceedings, The Satanic Temple claims that it spent "over $75,000 to establish and maintain an abortion clinic" but that number is rather suspiciously the exact number TST needed to claim for damages in order to meet federal jurisdictional requirements, and it's exactly the sort of thing you'd want to see broken down in an audit because it claims it spent this in March 2023, prior to operating expenses actually kicking in.
So if that were true, and again, there's no reason to think it is, it would mean that The Satanic Temple is one of the most inefficient ways for anyone to get fund abortions. This is the sort of thing the group Indigenous Women Rising pointed out at the time in response to TST's announcement.
Tumblr media
Even if The Satanic Temple were actually doing this with the best of intentions, and there's no reason to think they are, it would be a bad idea to try to come in from Massachusetts and re-invent the wheel rather than support any of the established organizations operating in New Mexico who have local connections and experience with the challenges of funding abortions for people.
None of this is especially hidden information, you know. Even the court proceedings are out for the public to examine, especially for lawsuits that have gotten so much attention when they were announced, thanks to a TST press release, and at their close, thanks to the Indiana Attorney General's press release.
But they do require doing work, asking follow up questions, and expecting more evidence in response to those questions than, "Just trust me, bro."
So how did the "Last Week Tonight" segment happen? Well, going back to the video, have two news outlets here: the first is EWTN, and the second is the Albuquerque Journal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The EWTN "News Nightly" segment comes from Feb. 3, 2023, the Albuquerque Journal article from Feb. 6, 2023.
If you look at both, the way they're structured is taking a press release from The Satanic Temple and quoting from it and TST's website. EWTN is a straightforwardly Catholic news agency, so it just talks to Father Steve Grunow, CEO of Word on Fire Ministries for his take on the situation; the Albuquerque Journal is a mainstream, "objective" newspaper, so it quotes Elisa Martinez, founder and executive director of the New Mexico Alliance for Life; and it quotes Joan Lamunyon Sanford, executive director of the New Mexico Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, while adding in some more details about "The Satanic Temple Inc." being an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Note that no one has yet done actual journalism here. The Catholic news agency has a bogeyman to beat up on and connect to abortion rights more generally, such as Ruth Bader Ginsberg getting a statue. The "straight news" outlet quotes from a press release then plays stenographer for the views of "both sides"; the deepest anyone goes is confirming that TST has an entity that can accept tax-deductible donations.
Sympathetic outlets like Hemant Mehta of "The Friendly Atheist", meanwhile, offer no pushback and just look for more quotes from TST to dutifully transcribe with no pushback or further investigation.
The Satanic Temple's press release and additional quotations from "pro" and/or "anti" abortion rights figures who are basically unconcerned with any particular facts of the situation, just taking TST's framing and reacting to it. When "Last Week Tonight" does a short segment about it, it leans on the work of others who upon deeper examination are actually doing very little work.
Larger media outlets like Jezebel and smaller, local ones like the Riverfront Times, on the other hand, have done in-depth looks at the Temple more generally and discovered that underneath the marketing there is not much of anything.
Prior to this clinic's announcement, we did our own in-depth roundup of abortion access orgs, journalists, legal experts, and actual court outcomes. Again: when abortion rights folks are actually familiar with the specifics of The Satanic Temple and TST's activities, the opinion is skeptical to outright hostile.
It would be really nice if John Oliver and his team were willing to apply the same level of skepticism to glorified press releases about The Satanic Temple that they do to many other topics.
But that takes work, and if local and partisan sources aren't doing the yeoman's work for them, even with HBO's budget, "Last Week Tonight" is like to skip it and make mistakes.
We've been willing to do the work, to be deservedly skeptical, and to compare the claims The Satanic Temple has made in one place versus ones they've made other places. We have limited resources and time as well, and we're not professionals. Unfortunately, it often seems like we're the only ones doing this.
But you can, too. You can watch yourself when a piece of news comes in that tickles your fancy, like someone being rude to an odious Supreme Court justice, and ask yourself a few more questions about what claims are actually being made and whether you ought to have some follow-up questions about it.
For us the most important one remains, "Why doesn't The Satanic Temple have any financial transparency or accountability for what it does with its donations, and why is it not more clear what is a for-profit sale benefiting the owners and what is a nonprofit donation?"

thousands of workers from gaza were released from the jails and have reported being beaten, tortured, stripped, bruised, pissed on, denied basic sanitation, denied food, denied water, and have been tagged as numbers
meanwhile, israeli people who have been taken hostage by hamas have reported that they are treated surprisingly well, even eating the same food as the hamas soldiers and having their toilets cleaned regularly
families in the west bank are reporting that their men are vanishing, leading to the idea that israelis are kidnapping them
subhi has an excellent video detailing more about the above point, also you should follow him on instagram he breaks things down incredibly well
israels iron dome has malfunctioned and one of their rockets has hit a hospital in tel aviv
it is important to remember the above point lest they (very likely) come out and somehow blame hamas/hezbollah/iran
theyre dropping lots of white phosphorus
chemical warfare has been a crime since the end of the first world war
theyve bombed the south dozens of times now despite claiming that theyll only target the north (anyone still saying that the south is safe is either clueless or a liar)
theyve hit the rafah border and it’s passage, killing dozens
a ceasefire is for the people of gaza to breathe. a ceasefire is NOT the end of OUR fight for palestine
these numbers increase every single day
this specific attack has been going on for a month
the isolation of gaza is 15 years old
israeli hands have been covered in palestinian blood for 75 years
most governments are failing to do anything that actually stops the massacre
the palestinians in gaza need our help.

Pro-abortion activists fight for abortion throughout pregnancy for any reason—no exceptions. Their fundamental argument centers on women’s health.
But stunning research shows this concern is all smoke and mirrors.
Pro-abortion activists have long tried to claim that abortion is safer than childbirth. For years they’ve touted manipulated numbers, trying in vain to bolster this myth. We’ve always known those statistics were bogus, and a study by Dr. Priscilla Coleman and Dr. David Reardon reveals abortion is much more dangerous to women than giving birth. And the results are sadly even more devastating to women’s health than even I had anticipated.
First, let me vouch for the authors of this research. I know them both to be solid individuals with a reputation for thoroughness. I met Dr. Coleman in Santiago, Chile where we lectured at their largest university. We again shared an academic podium in Quito, Ecuador the following year.
Second, allow me to explain why this study is so important. It’s compelling because of its unmatched scope:
The study includes a large number of women—nearly one-half-million—experiencing first-time pregnancies.
The medical records are profoundly reliable because the data was compiled from Danish government sources including fertility records of births and stillbirths, the national abortion registry and cause of death registry.
The study covers an extensive ten-year time period, providing comprehensive long-term data.
It analyzes both early and late-term abortion compared to childbirth.
In other words, this isn’t a biased study with a relatively small sample size produced to cater to pro-abortion activists—or any side for that matter. This research was conducted at the national level, over the course of a decade, providing substantial credibility, a comprehensive level of detail, as well as earning publication in respected medical journals. The reliability has been substantiated, which is why the results are even more troubling.
When it comes to which is safer—abortion or childbirth—the results speak loudly and clearly:
During the first six months after an early abortion (12 weeks or less), a woman has double the risk of death compared to giving birth.
During the first year following a late abortion (after 12 weeks) a woman has over three times the risk of death compared to giving birth.
Here’s a link to the entire study if you’d like to read it.
Pro-abortion activists prey on the fear of Americans by perpetuating the myth that if Roe v. Wade is reversed, women will suffer horrific back-alley abortions and tragic deaths. The reality is that under legalized abortion, women are being killed on a much larger scale.
Remember when we heard the news that Planned Parenthood is responsible for 24-year-old Tonya Reaves’ death following a botched abortion. Reports showed that a devastating five-and-a-half hours passed between the time of her abortion and her transport to a local hospital.
There’s no record that a 911 call was placed by Planned Parenthood. The autopsy report indicated that her injuries were survivable if she had received proper emergency care in a timely manner. The only difference between her death and a back-alley abortion death is that Ms. Reaves’ abortion was sanctioned by the US Supreme Court, giving her a false sense of security that the procedure was safe.
Now Tonya’s one-year-old son will grow up without a mother. Sadly, there have been additional victims after Tonya’s death. And don’t forget the Gosnell “house of horrors.”
Planned Parenthood and other abortion facilities continue to lure young women under the false premise that they perform “women’s healthcare services.” Abortion isn’t healthcare. It’s killing. In fact, they’re an industry of death—killing unborn babies and exposing their mothers to a staggering increased risk of death. Let’s not let this grave injustice continue. Share this with those you know and take a stand.
You now have compelling proof that abortion is not safer than childbirth

THE FUNCTIONING OF THE AUTONOMOUS MUNICIPALITIES
The autonomous municipalities are made up by the indigenous communities within an area defined by zapatista influence. The communities of an indigenous zone or area are the ones who decide, at an assembly of all their members, whether or not they will belong to the autonomous municipality.
The autonomous municipalities, parallel to the constitutional ones, do not receive any financing from the state, nor do they collect taxes.
It is the communities who elect their representatives for the Autonomous Municipal Council, which is the authority for the municipality. Each representative is chosen for one area of administration within the autonomous municipality, and they may be removed if they do not fully comply with the communities’ mandates.
Generally, a Council is made up of a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary, a Minister of Justice, a person in charge of Agrarian Matters, a Health Committee and a director for the Civil Registry. Each members’ powers are clearly defined within their appointment, and they function in a collegial manner, with the advice of previous authorities or of the Council of Elders.
The Councils are elected and renewed every one or two years, according to the municipality.
The activities and the responsibilities of each autonomous municipality are dependent on the will of their members, and on their level of consolidation. They do not manage public resources, and their budget, if it exists at all, is very limited, and due to the cooperation of some of their members. Those who hold a position on the Municipal Council do not receive a salary for it, although their expenses should be paid by the same communities who request their presence, through cooperation among the members. In some cases, members of the Council are supported in their farm work, so they they can dedicate themselves to their [Council] work, and not have to go the fields.
The autonomous municipalities resolve local problems of coexistence, relations and exchanges between communities, and they attend to minor crimes. The application of justice is based on customary law. For example, in cases of common crimes, the punishment imposed by the Autonomous Council is reparation of the damages: instead of punishment by jail or fines, a sentence is imposed of working for the community, or for the aggrieved family.
In the autonomous municipality of Polho, in Chenalho, where thousands of war displaced are found, the Autonomous Council receives national and international humanitarian aid, and it distributes it to the camps through the Supply Committee.
Some autonomous municipalities occupy the Constitutional Municipal building, such as in San Andres, in Los Altos of Chiapas. The autonomous municipality of San Juan de la Libertad, officially El Bosque, met in the official municipal seat facilities until the military offensive against it last June 10.
The non-governmental organization, Sipaz, has this to say concerning the autonomous municipalities:
“Considered from a western political perspective, the autonomous municipalities make no sense. They have no resources or real power or legal legitimacy, and they are dying, encircled by hunger, diseases, the paramilitary threat and the security forces. However, for the indigenous peoples, they constitute an eloquent symbol of a culture which is resisting and defying the dominant culture, making a reality of a different way of understanding politics and of organizing the economy, society, and even human relations.”

Conflict of Interest, Part 1
Characters: Silene Khorin, Novalx Astera (mentioned), Omnius Dioxal (mentioned, @memurfevur), Rutaci Faurux (mentioned, @/memurfevur), Masuni Astera (mentioned, @/memurfevur)
Synopsis: As an employee in handling imperial intelligence, it’s important to have knowledge on standby. In light of current events, Silene must make a choice.
Word Count: 1,128
I always had my suspicions about the truth.
I’ve known for sweeps that something was amiss, long since before Stygia’s execution. I still think often of how they came to me in the quiet moments, seeking my guidance. They cared so much for Rutaci, and I believe that the same sentiments could have been said in their feelings for Omnius.
She had so much to say, but it seemed that she never could answer her own questions. She was a smart troll, but she seemed as if she would rather try to understand others than to understand herself.
I suppose the events of the recent days have left me reminiscing. Maybe I’m... a little nostalgic. I haven’t been able to stop thinking of any of them- all four of them- ever since the
Silene lifted her quill from the page. Her ears twitched as she glanced upwards towards the hatch. Her heart raced as she listened to the creaking, waiting with bated breath. She wasn’t afraid, not in the slightest, but there was yet more to listen for.
At last, there came the sound of scratching, and Silene stood to answer. A winged, white beast decorated with faint marks of indigo-purple and no smaller than a horse, descended through the hatch and landed before her with a chirp. Its beak clacked together as it rolled its tongue, and tufted ears flicked as it regarded her. The beast stretched as talons and claws tapped against the floor, and feathers and fur fluffed up before Silene brushed them down while she reached with her other arm to close and secure the hatch.
“You’re back,” she breathed in relief as she sat back down. The nights were always dangerous, and every night that her lusus came scratching was never taken for granted. Silene paused again as she reached for her quill. Unease settled in her stomach as she glanced towards her lusus, then she reached out to stroke her feathers again. It was more to self-soothe than to groom, then she watched the lusus turn to walk behind her before she felt a slight tug at her hair. She sighed softly as the beast began to preen her, and she took the opportunity to pick up her quill and gaze over the paper before her.
great fallout came to pass. There was a wild, untamed spark like a wildfire that seemed to blaze through all of them in the ways that they gazed upon one another. They were a fervent group with ideals that swatted through the dark as if they were reaching for the stars themselves. Their ideals were all similar, but their methodology was their downfall. Their modus operandi were what brought them into conflict. Manipulation and betrayal was what came to rule them. Their own paranoia consumed them, and if the recent talk of bounties and murders are any indication, then it may come to be worse yet.
I’ve been sitting on a new set of suspicions for sweeps, now. It was the lack of a corpse of a sought-after war criminal and the sudden uptick in a certain mutant’s bounty that told me everything that I needed to know: Rutaci is alive, implicated in the murders of several government officials and official-adjacents. He must be back in the area, no doubt in search of something that he’s clearly desperate or foolhardy enough to seek so openly.
I would’ve questioned the idea of revenge, had it not been so long ago. Instead, my theory is that it’s something else. I discovered in the registry an employee who caught my eye. A hemoanonymous young man, Masuni Astera, holds office in a nearby mental health facility. I paid a visit to said facility to see for myself, and indeed, he looks strikingly like Stygia. Her descendant, I’m sure, as meek and disarming as his hidden blood would surely allow. The boy seemed baffled, understandably disinterested in his heritage. It would concern me less had I not heard tell of how he held quadratic ties with Dioxal.
And yet, there was another during one of my visits. Dioxal was in the building, and I felt his gaze steeled upon me. I was in the office to seek records for another patient, as is customary to my position, when I chanced upon seeing the boy in question guiding out another troll. Their horns were the same, and I could see in the other that, while they wore a mask across the lower half of their face, their eyes bore an unveiled, vibrant green with rays of gold. Another Astera, I was sure- anonymous in symbol, but their eyes told their story. Omnius stayed close to them as they left in haste.
The Duellist paused in her writing. The gentle tugging ceased as her lusus retreated to lie in her nest, and it was during that silent respite that Silene turned her gaze to the computer on her desk, watching as it extracted lines of data and displayed them before her. That had surely been the young troll she had seen. It had been difficult to find any information on them, but there was no such thing as a nonexistent trail. She sat back, rubbing her eyes in protest of the brightness of her screen as she regarded the information before her: Novalx Astera, aged 13, caste redacted. Hemoanonymity could only get a troll so far in life, but it seemed in the case of Masuni and Novalx that they had managed to somehow survive.
Silene’s bloodpusher ached as if it had been gripped by an icy fist. Even with their face hidden, she could see the similarities. She had with both of them, even in ways that she would’ve never imagined. She remembered how she had threatened to soften when she had seen Masuni meekly hide himself behind his scarf. Ah, so much they had inherited from someone that they never knew. This couldn’t be a coincidence. It may have been far beyond her reach and even farther beyond any right of hers to involve herself in such affairs, but she wasn’t perfect. Until there was news of a body, she knew what needed to be done, if not for Rutaci’s peace, then her own.
It is as I feared. Rutaci is alive, rampaging, and Dioxal clearly has reasons for keeping close to Stygia’s spawn. I must find Rutaci first. I must speak with him before it’s too late. If he falls, then the fours’ collective ambitions will be lost with him. I wish I could say that Omnius himself could be a bearer of those same dreams, but it’s clear to anyone who knew him once that he had lost his way and himself so long ago.

brother mine - year four
Chapter Rating: G Chapter Word Count: 935 Chapter Notes: originally posted to twitter here. tensei is 19 in this chapter.
Read on AO3 | Previous Chapter
Tensei’s first day at Team Iidaten as a sidekick is a lot. Just… not in the fun way.
He knew there was a lot of paperwork involved in the transition from work study to sidekick. Mother and Father have both griped about mountains of paperwork at dinner more times than he can count. Tensei always thought that they were referring to all of Iidaten’s collective paperwork―incident reports, evaluations, insurance claims, support agency forms, everything―but no.
There is quite literally a mountain of paperwork he needs to fill out just to be able to put on his hero costume. What the hell.
There’s information he needs to give to Iidaten’s in-house support studio for upgrades to his armor, information for his health insurance, details on his emergency contacts―really? His parents literally run the agency!―and forms to finalize his official pro hero license. Liability forms. Code of conduct. Code of ethics.
Tensei knows this stuff is important. He’s not knocking Father’s tendency to put everything in writing so there’s no room for miscommunication, but it wouldn’t kill the man to not be so wordy about it.
He sets his pen down to massage his aching hand. Right now, the agency is quiet. Mother and the agency’s six sidekicks are currently out on patrol, Father is in the training gym with Tenya for his first day of Quirk training, and Tensei is alone in the meeting room. He sits at the long table, papers organized in piles based on importance.
To his right, Tensei has a thick stack of papers filled out and ready to turn in. It is dwarfed by the paperwork he hasn’t even touched, and he feels his eye twitch with irritation.
“You can do this, Tensei,” he tells himself. “You’re going to look back on this one day and say ‘actually, paperwork wasn’t all that bad.’”
…Oh, who is he kidding, this is murder.
He knows the worst of the paperwork is nearly done―Father had recommended he start with the forms Iidaten needed to turn over to the Hero Commission, and he’s really glad he listened―but even with a light at the end of the tunnel, Tensei can’t quite shake the irritation. Briefly, he thinks Shota had the right idea to just go solo, but… he knows that wouldn’t be the right fit for him.
Tensei picks his pen back up, prepared to continue where he left off when he hears the door to the meeting room open. He looks over, finding one of the receptionists in the doorway.
“Apologies for interrupting, Ingenium,” Ms. Tamura says, “but Gearshift has requested your presence in the training gym when you have a moment.”
Tensei raises an eyebrow. He doesn’t think anything is wrong―if that were the case, Ms. Tamura would look a lot more alarmed―but he hadn’t expected to be pulled from his paperwork for anything that wasn’t important. “Sure, I’ll be down when I finish this form. Thank you, Ms. Tamura.”
She gives a polite nod in response before leaving the meeting room. Tensei makes quick work of finishing the paperwork to update his file in the Quirk registry, sets it on top of the finished pile, and leaves the meeting room as quickly as he can without activating his Quirk.
Team Iidaten’s training gym is a massive underground facility, with walls equipped with thick padding and enough room to run comfortably. A large track circles the perimeter of the room, surrounding a large sparring area at its center. Attached to the main gym is a smaller facility with various exercise equipment, allowing the heroes working within to train more than just their speed.
Tensei finds Father and Tenya sitting on one of the benches off to the side of the sparring area, sipping cans of juice. Tenya’s hair is a windswept mess and his cheeks are a little red from running, but there is an excitement radiating off of him that’s contagious.
“How’s your first day of Quirk training going, Tenya?” Tensei calls out, jogging over to them.
Tenya beams, hopping off the bench and racing over to Tensei. “Father says I beat your time when you were starting out, Oniisan!”
Tensei scoops his brother up into his arms. Tenya lets out a shriek, but doesn’t fight to get loose. “Really? That’s incredible!”
Father chuckles warmly as he approaches the two of them, a proud smile on his face. “He still has a long way to go, but his first gear is nearly as fast as my second. You might need to oversee his training, Tensei, I don’t think I’ll be able to keep up.”
Though Father’s tone is joking, there is some truth to that―the Iida family Engine Quirk became faster with each generation. In the back of his mind, Tensei always understood that. He knew that Ingenium was faster than Gearshift, but consciously acknowledging it was almost… bittersweet.
It occurs to him that Father would probably be retiring in a few years. He’s been a hero all of Tensei’s life… how’s he supposed to cope with that?
“There’s still a lot you can teach,” Tensei points out, settling his brother on his hip. “Right, Tenya?”
Tenya nods eagerly. “You said there’s more to being a hero than speed!”
Father seems genuinely touched at the sentiment. “There is, and we’ll get to that. For now, though… how’s your paperwork progressing, Tensei?”
Tensei scrunches up his nose. “I’m about halfway through it.”
“Then I think it’s time for a break.” Father motions towards the track. “How about a race?”
Tenya grins up at Tensei. “Oniisan?”
Tensei returns the smile. “You’re on, little man.”

Introduction to Medical Marijuana in Texas
Medical marijuana is gaining traction across the United States, and Texas is no exception. Although Texas has some of the country's strictest regulations on cannabis, there are ways for residents to access medical marijuana legally. Medical marijuana dispensaries have become a crucial part of the state’s healthcare infrastructure, providing products to patients with specific medical conditions. If you're considering using medical marijuana for health reasons, it's essential to understand how to obtain a Medical Marijuana Card in Texas and the role of dispensaries in helping you access safe, regulated products.
What is a Medical Marijuana Dispensary?
Medical marijuana dispensaries are specialized healthcare facilities where licensed professionals provide cannabis-based products for medical use. These dispensaries are regulated under Texas law, ensuring that products meet state standards for quality and safety. Unlike recreational cannabis stores, medical marijuana dispensaries only serve individuals who have been approved by the state to use cannabis as part of their medical treatment.
In Texas, medical marijuana dispensaries offer a limited selection of cannabis products, often in the form of low-THC oils, tinctures, capsules, or edibles. Patients who qualify can purchase these products to help manage symptoms from a range of approved medical conditions.
How to Obtain a Medical Marijuana Card in Texas
Before you can visit a medical marijuana dispensary in Texas, you need a Medical Marijuana Card. Texas operates under the Compassionate Use Program (CUP), which permits qualifying patients to access medical marijuana legally. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get a Medical Marijuana Card in Texas:
Determine Your Eligibility: In Texas, medical marijuana is only available to patients with specific conditions. These include epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, terminal cancer, autism, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and certain neurological conditions. The list of qualifying conditions may expand over time as the state reviews medical research.
Find a Registered Physician: Only registered physicians under the Texas Compassionate Use Registry can prescribe medical marijuana. Make an appointment with a qualified doctor who can assess your condition and determine if cannabis is an appropriate treatment option.
Receive a Prescription: If your doctor determines that you are eligible, they will add you to the state’s Compassionate Use Registry. In Texas, the registry acts as the equivalent of a Medical Marijuana Card. Dispensaries can verify your registration and prescription directly through the registry.
Visit a Licensed Dispensary: Once you have your prescription, you can visit a medical marijuana dispensary in Texas or order products for delivery. Ensure that the dispensary is legally licensed under the state’s Compassionate Use Program.
Benefits of Using Medical Marijuana Dispensaries
There are several advantages to using licensed medical marijuana dispensaries:
Product Quality: Dispensaries in Texas are subject to strict regulatory standards, ensuring that patients receive safe, accurately labeled, and effective products.
Professional Guidance: Dispensary staff can help you choose the right products and dosages for your condition, based on professional knowledge and experience.
Legal Protection: Purchasing from a licensed dispensary ensures that your medical marijuana use remains compliant with Texas state laws.
Top Dispensaries in Texas for Medical Marijuana
There are currently a few licensed dispensaries in Texas under the Compassionate Use Program. Some of the prominent dispensaries include Texas Original Compassionate Cultivation, Fluent, and Goodblend. Each offers various cannabis products and delivery services to make access easier for patients across the state.
The Future of Medical Marijuana in Texas
Texas’s medical marijuana laws are gradually evolving, with growing public support for expanded access. Though limited in scope, the Compassionate Use Program demonstrates that the state is open to the idea of medical marijuana as a viable treatment option. Future changes in legislation may make it easier for more patients to access medical marijuana dispensaries, potentially adding more qualifying conditions and broader product availability.
Conclusion
For Texas residents, accessing medical marijuana legally begins with a Medical Marijuana Card. Licensed medical marijuana dispensaries provide high-quality, safe products for patients with qualifying conditions. If you or a loved one is considering medical marijuana as part of a healthcare plan, understanding the Compassionate Use Program and Texas’s dispensary options can help ensure you get the treatment you need within the confines of state law.
