#Long story short: I’m quitting my job! Yippee!! 🎉#Don’t wanna get TOO into it but I’m so fucking tired of being treated like shit and getting blamed for things completely out of my control#I’m done. I’ve BEEN done for months at this point#And now it’s at the point where my boss doesn’t think I’m doing my job right bc she keeps finding issues that again. Aren’t my fault#I’m sorry I can’t control everything for you! I don’t have that kind of power! I can’t make things magically happen the way you want!!#My other coworkers have been undergoing the same bullshit treatment so I know I’m not alone#But yeah I’m getting the hell out of dodge. My mental health has been sooooooo bad lately#I cannae. I’m going to end up dead in a ditch at this rate#Had the WORST panic attack of my life yesterday and my mom and I were both like. Yeah. lmao I had to get a tb test for my new job since it’s working in a school and I turned out positive 🙃 I don’t have health insurance at the moment and I have to get a chest scan and go on antibiotics and I just know it’s gonna be EXPENSIVE

It pisses me off so bad that oftentimes lower paying jobs demand so much more than higher paying ones.
Like, my roommate works from home, 80k a year, is able to do chores like laundry during the workday, has a full hour for lunch and gets 5 weeks of PTO on top of sick pay. I'm not saying their job is super perfect or easy but I make $20/hr and I have zero flexibility or regularity in my schedule, have to bite and kick just to use a single vacation day (of the five I get for the entire year), and the job exhausts me to the point where I am only able to get chores done on my days off. They have us lean staffed to the degree where if any one person calls out sick, it basically ruins the day for everyone.
It's much worse for my coworkers, several of whom are chronically ill, because the manager making the schedules doesn't give a fuck about the time they absolutely need off for medical appointments.
I feel like there should be some tradeoff for lower paying jobs, but that's just 'not how it works', since people willing to work lower paying jobs are more desperate so you can treat them like dirt. Either you luck your way into a decent job or you're fucked forever.
#i know i dont even have the worst job in the world but GOD.#anyway. im going back to school next year with the intention of getting either a bookkeeping certificate or an associates in accounting#and with the way the job markert is right now who knows if thatll even do any good. idk.#i hate living under capitalism!!!!#also i reported them to the health department today 😌#this is more of a minor thing but also being On Display to the public for 8 hours a day can be exhausting in its own right#mine

Corporate jobs are so funny I miss my old one whenever the manager would start chewing me out id tell him to shut up or I would quit we were so overworked and understaffed and I was oh so manic
#when the health inspector came and he started screaming at me i dumped a bunch of shit on the floor and then walked out#filed several complaints with osha and the health department and got the place shut down for a week#cost him his job

Guess who just lost their job in a mass layoff and is now once again unemployed 👁👄👁
#post#they pulled a bunch of us into a meeting and told us our whole department basically got annihilated#and instead of transferring us to different departments like they've done with me before#they just kicked us all to the curb and it's up to us to try to re-apply and see if they wanna take us back lol#but hey at least i get a few weeks of severance pay#that's a lot more than i can say of all the other jobs i've been laid off from#plus i got 3 years of experience to put on my resume so i'm sure that helps with my future prospects somewhat#i just applied for unemployment benefits so i'll see where that leads me and hope i can find another decent job that pays me enough to live#goodbye health insurance

hate how i can fully not care about something and outright not want or need the situation to change but still get a lil bit offended by it anyway
#like six months ago i stopped getting supervisor shifts at work#because i stood my ground on a health and safety matter & the manager decided he couldn't trust me to prioritise profits over team safety#since then we've gotten a new manager and assistant manager and one of them is having a weekend off#but instead of putting me down as supervisor there just. isn't a supervisor.#i'm literally looking at this roster where i'm the only one from this department who will be there that day lmao#there is one person on loan from another department and one person who afaik isn't even in the country so who fkn knows if they'll show#this is a saturday too jesus fucking christ this is going to be a nightmare#if nobody else is rostered on to save us imma just change my shift to supervisor anyway. not like i won't be doing the fuckin job.

#I held out as long as I could but I finally had to resign today#my boss is just too nice to lay me off even though my work produces almost no business value 😭#like they just did a reorg of the teams that means QA will be stretched too thin over devs#and he’s not allowed to hire any more manual testers#this is not the same situation I was hired into!#I’m a ‘nice to have’ type of employee and they managed without my role for a while#I COULD have made myself indispensable in the last year but I couldn’t be bothered#I was busy writing fanfic and having a baby#not to mention the health shit like my wife getting covid and stranding us at my sister’s house across the country#or my older kid being hospitalized twice for respiratory failure!#so I just did the bare minimum IF THAT#and now a year later it’s all THE YEAR OF EFFICIENCY and all that bullshit#just like the rest of tech right now. bunch of dumbass capitalist copycats…#if my manager weren’t such a good dude he’d have offered my role in exchange for the manual testing hire(s) he CLEARLY needs#I really hope that my resignation helps him either get the new hire he wants or protect the rest of the department from layoffs!!!#I’m so glad I finally got it over with 😭#I start my new job in May so I’ll have a couple weeks to chill!!!
