Chigiri and Kaiser, also I’m baack~
Tumblr media
I’ve had this panel in my folder of ones to color for a while now, so I started it after Art Fight ended. I’m testing new ways to color using the panels. I like the clothes and hair here, though doing it for Kaiser’s hair was a pain.
Their eyes were too small for me to do something with them, but I still tried

Transfemme-ish song I found a bit ago. So beautiful. An english translation was added recently. Thought I'd share for pride month since I couldn't find a post already on tumblr.
It's such a personal sounding song.
In an important note: in the comment of the video Harumaki mentions that while they usually they usually tune Miku Hatsune to sing it was important that they sing it themselves for this 10th anniversary of posting music online.

#sometimes I will think about this quote I read once that said ‘Shakespeare wrote better than he could write. Michael Angelo painted#better than he could paint’ and the point was just. the art as something almost speaking through the artist#especially at certain points#and I feel that way about Taylor#I don’t know how to explain it but sometimes I hear her songs so differently than at other times#like sometimes. (this is going to sound insane) sometimes they sound too fast to me#like. it’s TOO efficient.#in terms of structure#because she is BRUTALLY efficient almost#and sometimes (sorry I keep using the word sometimes) I just want to reach out my hand and like. rest it over the song#and tell it to breathe. and at other times I can FEEL the song slot into place and I can feel the depths reached and I can feel the stars#align into place as she taps into the greater truth#like the first time I heard loml#and burst into tears#or when I listened to it again when I was on a drive in the mountains with Nina and I just started sobbing at the end#it doesn’t hit for me every single time (though every time it’s a good song)#is what I’m trying to say#and I think it’s because Taylor’s talent is the most restless spirit I’ve ever seen. she’s like a beanstalk growing right in front of me#and so as wonderful as she is she is never as wonderful as she WILL be#and I hate that attitude generally (so much) of being like ‘she’s just getting started that’s the crazy’#but the truest comments about Taylor ALWAYS say that#and it’s always struck me as true!!!! and that is why every album is better than the last and to an extent makes her previous work#look small in hindsight.#I keep being so struck by tortured poets and the way it has synthesized the personal and the storytelling#into a new blend we have NEVER seen before. the muses are present but theY ARE NOT PRESENT IN THE SAME WAY#they do ! not ! matter ! the way they used to#in her art she is getting farther away from what we call diaristic songwriting and she is moving deeper into the world of art#and as she does it you can FEEL (or at least I can feel or at least I think I can feel) the lightning and thunder (so to speak) gathering#in her heart and in her mind and in her journey and she is going to EXPLODE one of these days

I've been thinking about the art I reblogged earlier. It's been in my drafts for weeks because of how important I deem it to be, but I wanted to wait until I felt I had time to actually write about it.
At the end of the day, K.ovu's legacy is wild to think about. He was raised to be an heir, the so-called 'chosen one' of the tyrant king. It's so much a part of who he is, it's literally his name. There's this looming shadow over him, and the expectation that he's going to grow up and take S.imba's place as king.
But... From the little that's seen, I get the impression that K.ovu knows barely anything about S.car, which is odd when you consider Z.ira's, well, her everything.
K.ovu knows he looks like S.car, but not necessarily how much. He was praised for his intelligence, but might not know any other instances outside of S.car's cruelty. He clearly doesn't hold the dead lion in high praise despite it all, and is quick to change his mind once someone actually talks about S.car.
All of this is not even considering the crux of the matter: what S.car actually thought of K.ovu. Was he actually the chosen one? Was a positive comment made about how hearty the newly born cub looked? On this blog, I do have it that he did consider K.ovu being the 'face' of the throne, but there wasn't much time to allow him to observe all the cubs and make a proper decision or put his plans into motion. We know from the musical that S.car did desire an heir, but it seems unlikely that he would favour a cub that wasn't his ("Immortality will be mine!"). Without any sort of flashback, and with the first movie made without any consideration for a sequel, we can only take Z.ira's word. Personally, it's not the most reliable, and so we'll never actually know whether she speaks the truth, or whether she seized the opportunity with a visually similar cub to grasp at power, since we know for a fact that K.ovu is not S.car's.
Perhaps, ultimately, it's a distorted version of S.imba and M.ufasa, where a path ahead is set on the cub's 'destiny'... But the difference is that one had the opportunity to learn what precisely that path was from the king in question.
After all, an heir doesn't choose his destiny when assigned to follow in the par-prints of those who came before them. An heir is told to follow the status quo and uphold particular ideals, because these are what is considered 'normal' in their upbringing.

GOD. i was just thinking about the sort of circumstances that might cause blamore's desire to help people show through once again and/or just situations where he would be kind to someone in particular, which i get might be kind of unexpected, BUT it is still capable of showing human compassion towards other beings or people. and the first instance that came up in my mind was someone who has been abandoned / feels like they don't belong anywhere because they're too 'different' to fit in with other people and they express this through doing thing's that they normally wouldn't as well as by lashing out at people. and if i'm being honest, this is because he's been there and so it's hard to look at someone + fail to be kind towards them when he can connect with them — you know?
so, now i'm just imagining it helping someone it's come across while he's doing his power broking thing, because he realized that this was someone who truly felt like they lost everything. and they didn't even really care at this point whether they lived or died which... is really sad, to say the least. thus, blamore mayyy try to take them in and give them someone they could depend on, which would be him in this case and of course, would that always be the best thing? probably not but this something that it would do without any ulterior motive behind it SO that's something, i suppose (,: so basically what i'm trying to say is that blamore is liable to ' taking in strays ' especially who it sees itself in

Matty did do some terrible things to her but no one wants to talk about it but Taylor was obviously hurt a lot by him.
I agree. Whatever events inspired sentences like “did you take all my old clothes? Just to leave me here naked and alone in a field in my same old town that somehow seems so hollow now. They’ll say I’m nuts if I talk about the existence of you. down bad waking up in blood… I might just die it would make no difference” could not have been good at all. I don’t want to speculate further really, but I agree with you that the general fandom consensus seems to be that him leading her on and ghosting her was his crime and I think it was more complicated and insidious and degrading than that.

i find it kind of interesting how jack's costume is actually partially modeled after a jester ( his mask has the typical 'horns' that extend out of a jester's cap, except they don't have bells on them most of the time because that would just be VERY inconvenient for him as a thief and they aren't really all that big at all. they just barely reach the crown of his head and then tilt downwards before the ends folds in on themselves. it's basically something that is not too flashy, but also kind of let's him express himself ) and his whole costume just in general exudes the air of a ' performer. ' the fact that he does wear a leotard as part of his outfit while on 'missions' just emphasizes this. though, it does serve a practical purpose as well, of course -- and that is to allow him free range of movement since he is contortionist. so, i think the fact that he has consciously made an effort to make it a bit ' fun ' does say something about his character and i know i have mentioned this before, BUT i haven't quite touched upon this yet.
jack has saved people before that he knew barton would've wanted him to kill because they 'saw too much' or whatever the case may be. anddd i think that this is jack's way of trying to 'make up' for some of the bad thing's he's witnessed + done nothing about, as well as make up for the bad thing's he's done, though realistically -- it's probably going to take a LOT more than jack saving some people to completely ease his conscience and he can never really wipe his hands clean of what's been done. but ehhh, i think that jack treating it almost like it's some sort of ' twisted performance ' in a way is a form of escapism for him, as sad and also concerning as that might sound 😬 but yeahhh. that's likely enough rambling about my favorite mathis family member for now LOL
#OF MONSTERS AND MEN: musings.#like i said jack is my fav. my flavor flav LMAO nahhh but i really do like him a lot. i guess because he is sort of the-#'moral center' of the mathis family like i mentioned before though that of course doesn't absolve him of guilt from all of the bad things-#he's done. it's just that... GAHHH whenever i picture jack i can picture him with SOME antisocial traits but i think that he is definitely-#different from barton in terms of his psyche. because he is driven mostly by a desire to please his father and/or make him proud-#which makes me kind of think that it's more likely that he has BPD with some antisocial traits like i was saying before bc it seems-#like he is very much afraid of being abandoned / left behind and although he doesn't LIKE killing people jack kind of flip-flops#between putting barton on a pedestal and viewing him as the worst human being EVER so there is a fair chance that he has it i think#plus he displays other symptoms of it as well such as impulsive behavior and stress-related paranoia / loss of contact with reality so#yeah. he is still a minor too technically bc he is seventeen and when i think about that it honestly amazes me that jack is doing all of#this bc you know what I was doing at seventeen? well it certainly wasn't being an expert thief and occasionally KILLING people#that's for damn sure 💀 but anyhowww i hoped y'all liked this drabble of mine tehe#tw: mentions of murder.#tw: mental illness.#tw: mentions of disassociation / derealization.

sometimes i think of leon in instructor settings for the dso and i really just think, as an instructor? he's a complete asshole, not in a vindictive sense but above drill sergeant levels of on your case, constantly, he's drawing blood without apology. and this isn't just because i enjoy writing leon as being standoffish and at times outright combative, but i think alot of it comes not only from a point of his first day being thrown into the hellscape that was the raccoon city outbreak, and feeling extremely underprepared as anyone should, but also looking back on it through the years and thinking: there's so many moments as a rookie i should have died, instead of the experienced officers before me. as well as freshly after that, keeping in mind a.u.p.i.t (anti-umbrella pursuit and investigative taskforce) was referenced to be sabotaged & corrupted by those involved with umbrella at a government level (likely simmons's organization The Family), thinking of leon's special ops training and how he refers back to it as an experience that nearly killed him, the way that leon describes punishing missions in the same breath as training makes me think that this was more a trial-by-fire approach, with leon and other operatives being sent repeatedly on what was intended as suicide-missions with training sessions on-site just as often as in between. personally for my leon i don't abide by the remake's decision to have krauser as his instructor, but thinking all the same that leon worked alongside people with the same dispositions and views as krauser routinely, his instructors likely had the same natures that krauser displays during operation javier and interactions in re:4.
i don't think leon should be instructing or training anybody at all, his traumatic experiences endured while he was a rookie leaves too much chance that he would end up projecting, (he could have a "flashback" moment connected to his ptsd, an episode of loss of awareness of his surroundings and mental displacement, actively thinking he's back in raccoon city when in reality he's on dso grounds) (or trying to protect his rookies by being far too harsh on them in an effort to prepare them, putting them through unreasonable conditions that could justify as genuinely harmful if not physically certainly mentally) and possibly continuing a cycle of superior abuse he learned from and experienced while in a.u.p.i.t, (i don't think it would get that far, nor that leon's nature and moral compass would allow that to happen, i think it gets close until leon recognizes) but i think it would be unlikely that he would be given another choice considering leon will not live forever and the industry demands and needs more agents to tackle the spread of bioterrorism worldwide. it's just a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I feel like the best way to parallel Bellamy would be like. Him, o, and aurora pretty much staying boarded up, aurora doing what she can, Bellamy getting a job with something probably fedra. O wanting to see the world so Bellamy sneaking her out but surprise Danger. Aurora gets infected and Bellamy either watches someone kill her or has to do it himself.
Maybe they're in KC and it's before infected go underground. Maybe he like everyone else admires Michael and joins the rebel movement instead.
Probably a firefly at some point that feels right.

𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓'𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄.ᐟ
what happens when you don't use their pet name to call them?
⟡ content: zayne/sylus/xavier/rafayel x gn!reader; more dialogue heavy; silly and cute
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ZAYNE ⟡
“Can you help me put this on, Zayne?”
From the reflection in the mirror, you tried not to react at the twist in his brow and the momentary confusion in his eyes. Wordlessly, he moved behind you, fingers taking the necklace out of your hand. With his gaze focused on the task before him, you could see him open his mouth, hesitating to speak.
“Did I do something wrong?” he questioned.
Zayne’s deft hands carefully laid the chain around your neck, centering the pendent between your collarbones.
You plastered on your most innocent expression, despite the twinge of guilt you felt at his question.
“Hm? Why do you ask?”
Swiftly, he clasped the ends of the chain together. His eyes flicked towards yours in the mirror.
“You’re calling me by my first name. I thought pet names were an important step in a relationship for you.”
You nodded. “Yes, Zayne, I do think it’s an important step.”
His eyes narrowed at your continual uncharacteristic responses.
Folding his arms, he mused aloud. “It took you some time to drop the title ‘doctor’ for me and to just use my name. After we became official, you were quick to call me ‘love’.”
You fiddled with your necklace, trying to, impossibly, force away the heat from your face.
“So, either I did something to make you upset, or”—he leaned in close to you, the side of his face almost touching yours—“you’re playing a trick on me.”
You gave a mock frown. He cocked his head to the side, awaiting your response.
“Okay, okay, it was a prank.” Sighing, you surrendered to his deductions. “I wanted to see how you’d react, but you saw right through me,” you mumbled.
His lips quirked. “I’ve known you for long enough to figure these things out.”
Wanting to wipe off the amused look he had on his face, you quickly planted a kiss on his cheek. His face turned into surprise. He chuckled, shaking his head at your triumphant smile.
“Thank you for helping me, my love."
SYLUS ⟡
“Sylus, could you play that new record you bought?”
You called from the sofa. Standing by the record player, he turned to face you. The offence on his face was unmistakable as he placed his hands on his hips.
“Sylus?” he scoffed. “We both know that’s not what you call me.”
Your brows furrowed, feigning confusion. “What are you talking about? Isn’t that your name?”
“Sweetie,” he levelled a look of scepticism at you, “that hasn’t been my name for the past month we’ve been together.”
“I still don’t know what you mean, Sylus.”
He paused. Gears turned in his head trying to unpack what was happening, much like he would do when reading the truthfulness of a dealer during a bargain.
“Y/N.”
You’ve never heard your own name being said in such a serious manner. Perhaps you got a taste of your own medicine.
“I’m not particularly fond of lose-lose situations.” The softness in his tone made you feel weak. “You can tell me if I’ve done something to annoy you. I won’t be angry.”
“Not at all!” you quickly blurted out. Unable to hide it any longer, you confessed. “You haven’t done anything to annoy me. I was just trying to pull a small prank.”
All the tension visibly released from his body. A relieved sigh escaped him. “You really do play some dangerous games, kitten.”
Playfulness returned to his voice. “Now then, how will you correct your mistake?”
“Honey,” you drawled out each syllable, making it sound as syrupy as the nickname itself, “could you play that new record you bought now?”
Sylus couldn’t help but laugh at your exaggeration. “Why of course.”
XAVIER ⟡
“Xavier, do you want to try this?”
Subtly glancing at his reaction from the kitchen, you saw his face immediately fall into a pout. The look was fatal, and it took all the willpower you had not to drop the ruse right then and there.
“That’s not my name,” he answered.
“What do you mean?” you chuckled, continuing to put icing on the sugar cookies you baked. “Of course it is!”
“No, it’s not,” he insisted.
Placing his book down, he walked to stand at your side by the counter. You avoided his eye contact, pretending that nothing was amiss.
Resting a hand under his chin, he began to think. “You usually call me bunny, sweetheart, sunshine, or darling.”
Your jaw dropped in amused shock. “You remember all the names I’ve called you?”
His mouth twitches. “There are some more, but… they might be a bit embarrassing to say aloud right now.”
That was enough to make you look at him with wide eyes.
“Xavier!” Your face turned pink as you slapped his shoulder. There was no force behind the hit, but enough to convey your embarrassment.
“You did it again. You used the wrong name.” He stuck his bottom lip out.
You gently poked at his cheek, trying to lift the corner of his lip upwards. “Come on, don’t be sad darling.”
Immediately, he brightened before you.
“It was just a joke I saw couples do online. I wanted to see how you’d react.”
He nodded thoughtfully. “And was my reaction satisfactory?”
“I think it was,” you smiled at him, "but it’s a shame I didn’t film it, it would’ve made for a good Moments post.”
He shook his head. “But, the nicknames we use are only for us.”
The finished cookie in your hand had a bite suddenly taken from it as Xavier leaned down to have a taste.
“I don’t want anyone else to know.”
RAFAYEL ⟡
“Are you ready to go yet, Rafayel?”
He continued to hum to himself, completely ignoring you. You folded your arms as you watched him busy himself with something trivial. He flung open a random cupboard and inspected what appeared to be an assortment of spare art supplies.
“Rafayel,” you called again.
He then turned his attention to the fishbowl in the centre of the room, where a small orange fish darted around.
“Reddie, do you hear something?” he asked, gazing so earnestly into the bowl. This fish paused its movement and stared back at his owner.
“Rafayel~” you sang his name aloud this time, extending the last syllable.
He gasped, apparently receiving some confirmation from Reddie.
“You hear something too? Thank god. I was thinking there must be something wrong with my ears.”
Surveying the room around him, Rafayel intentionally looked past you standing barely a few metres from him, tapping your foot against the wooden floorboards of his studio.
“It sounds like”—he continued—“some kind of voice. Someone familiar to me, but I can’t make out who it is.”
“Rafayel!” you shouted his name between fits of laughter. Only he could respond to your jokes with his own dramatics.
He sucked in a breath in puzzlement. “I wonder who this person is calling out to.”
“Baby,” you finally conceded, “I’m talking to you!”
It seemed like he couldn’t keep up the act either, as he started laughing with you.
“Took you long enough,” he huffed, moving towards you and linking your arm with his. “Otherwise, Reddie and I would have been searching for this phantom voice for the rest of the day.”

One of the most memorable speeches I've ever heard was given at my beloved's graduation. They attended a pretty crunchy school natural medicine. They went for acupuncture but they also had many degrees including nutrition, naturopathic medicine, and most importantly to this story: midwifery.
The common consensus across campus was that the midwives operated on their own frequency which is a nice way to say they were usually really weird, even by the standards of a pretty alternative crowd of people. Not weird in a bad way. But weird nonetheless. They straddled the boundary between life and death and it changed them.
I had never experienced a midwife before the ceremony which is why I didn't think anything of the fact that a midwife stepped up to give the graduation speech. My friends nearby had a stir of repressed amusement and elbowing each other which did puzzle me slightly.
The speech began as a story, which I heartily approved of. The midwife related an experience in which a woman told her that during her first birth she had screamed too much and used up her energy in that instead of pushing and the midwife, to the collective masses assembled to watch a solemn ceremony, said, "I told her this time she would need to scream with her vagina."
The audience was slightly stunned by this, myself included. I scanned the crowd to see dropped jaws and wide eyes. It was such a bold statement to make in an academic setting and no one quite knew what to make of it.
The midwife continued unperturbed.
She related that many dads didn't know what to do during the birthing process and that this particular dad chose to chant over and over, "You're gonna be huge, you're gonna be huge," as his wife screamed with her vagina to birth their child. The midwife mused that she didn't know if he was talking to their child or his wife or if he even registered what he was saying in that moment.
Then the subject strayed toward how the student body had strained and striven toward this goal, this endgame that was the result of sleepless nights, hard work, and camaraderie. The speech seemed to have moved onto more solid ground and traditional graduation reminiscences. The crowd settled, thinking the worst had passed.
But as the midwife wrapped up she said, "As you go forth into the world, pushed out by this noble institution to help the masses, just remember one thing," she paused and the audience held their breath while the beat drew out before she finally whispered:
"You're gonna be huge."
There was a roar of astonished laughter as her speech neatly tied their graduation into a metaphor for being birthed unto the world and we finally understood the point of her anecdote.
The speech lives in infamy in all our collective memories. Years later my beloved's dad will still be like, "Remember that bizarre graduation speech?"
And it was. It was bizarre. But I'll say this. I've attended a lot of graduations, and I don't remember any of the speeches half so well as I do that one.
