(Hopefully by this point you’ve finished all eight episodes of ‘Giri/Haji’, the kind of person who isn’t bothered by spoilers, or are just deciding if you still want to keep watching.)

Rewatching scenes from Episode 1...I’m reminded that this might be the only time I’ve seen Kenzo wear an armband.

It was only after the rewatch that I noticed that the viewer’s field of vision is narrowed when there’s a flashback.

Which is kind of like what happens in the comics --- but isn’t that more for when a character notices something?

(Maybe I’ll get the actual aspect ratio in my DMs one day)

And of course...who could forget the songs selected! I feel like it adds to the comedy. The last few scenes are just...well...we’re given a cliffhanger of Donna with her rifle pointed at Kenzo ...and suddenly the credits start with 'Time Of The Season' by The ZombiesIt's

the time of the season When love runs high In this time, give it to me easy

(Another reminder on how cheeky this show is....goodness...the expectation would be something that’s sort of ominous....darker...than...well.... 'Time Of The Season' which oddly fits.)

PS: I like that they use ‘London’ and ‘Tokyo’ like it’s obvious. (Rather than Tokyo, Japan or London, England)

PPS: Is there a reason why Kenzo wouldn’t want to press charges against the boy who assaulted Taki? I would have thought he’d be more switched on because he’s a cop.

INT. SEDAN - DAY

TOSHIO has the wheel. KENZO in the passenger seat.

TOSHIO Do you think he ever considered renting an office that wasn't above a damn fish market?

KENZO This isn't Japan.

He's staring at an image on his phone. He zooms in at a power point.

TOSHIO What is it?

The passenger shows it to the driver. A quick glance, but eyes back on the road.

KENZO The wrong kind of wall plug.

TOSHIO Where do they have that kind of plug?

KENZO (exasperated) I'm not a plug expert.

A beat.

TOSHIO Who keeps calling you?

KENZO My wife.

TOSHIO Is she a plug expert?
