-He is nice and easygoing most of the time, however, he does have quite the temper too. But after your arguments with him, you both end up apologising to each other and resolving the conflict

-He can handle your short temper pretty well (*cough* Chuuya and Teruko *cough*) but please don’t snap at him all the time :(

-Tachihara was a bit surprised when you suddenly changed your personality one time, but he wasn’t shocked, since he was used to Teruko doing that. He thinks it’s cool how you could act sweet one second, emotionless the next, but don’t change your personality so suddenly or else he’s going to have a heart attack

-I don’t think he’d be that annoying as a brother. Sure, even though he may tease you for fun, but he doesn’t want to go too far as to make you angry or upset. You two would have some playful banters now and then, but it’s mostly teasing remarks and witty comebacks

-Piggyback rides! Tachihara gives Teruko piggyback rides all the time, and he would be perfectly happy giving you some too. He is pretty strong, so don’t be afraid that you’re too heavy for him. Tachihara will carry you anywhere you wanted to go, and he could even run around a park while giving you a piggyback

-He is kind of concerned with your sleep deprivation, because sleep is very important! Definitely asks a doctor for some advice, and would brew some chamomile tea or hot milk for you to help you fall asleep. He would also read stories to you, and it’s actually one of his softest moments with you

-If you’re feeling down or in need of someone to talk to, Tachihara is right there for you! He’s a great listener and is quite patient, so he always finds the right words to comfort you. He might even hug you or buy you some stuff that you like to cheer you up, because he hates it when he sees you sad

-Watch anime with him! When both of you are free on the weekend, Tachihara would put an anime series or movie on the television and the rest of the evening would be spent watching that. I headcanon he likes watching Spy x Family

-I feel like he would also like cats. Due to his job, he isn’t able to have a lot of time to look after a pet, but he would love to adopt a cat with you. Sometimes goes to pet shops with you to see which cat(s) you two would like to adopt in the future

-As we all know, Tachihara is very insecure deep down, and he feels inferior compared to others. Since you’re his sibling figure, you’re most likely the person he’d be vulnerable with. Please comfort him and give him words of encouragement, because he really likes it when you do

-Food trips!!! Tachihara would totally go to different restaurants and cafes with you to try out different cuisines. He’ll pay for the food, even though sometimes you split the bill with him. On special occasions like your birthday he’ll take you to very expensive restaurants to celebrate

-/Hj, but Jouno is going to be tough on you and make you work hard. He doesn’t accept anything less than 100%, and don’t think you can rebel or slack off, because then he is going to punish you by making you work even harder. And this man is lowkey terrifying even without his punishments so I wouldn’t want to say no to him either

-His trainings normally consist of him sparring with you (aka beating you up but not entirely). You learn a lot through his lessons, but at the cost of a severely exhausted body and no energy left. Even when he’s not physically training you, expect him to plop some big-ass book with lots of information in it on your hands and make you read it since it could be ‘helpful for missions’

-He doesn’t really mind your nice and friendly personality, it’s kind of refreshing for him actually. Jouno finds the fact that you could change your personality quickly good, since it could boost the success rate for missions. Just don’t be short-tempered with him or snap at him, because even when he thinks it’s amusing, you wouldn’t want to get in trouble with Teruko, would you?

-Jouno will teach you one or two things about interrogation, however, his version of teaching is really ‘watch and learn’. After watching him interrogate aka traumatise several criminals, you definitely have an idea of how to do it yourself, but please get therapy (dw I’ll make Jouno pay)

-He would tease you a bit every now and then, but he wouldn’t take it too far. Most of his teasing is reserved for Tachihara and his victims, and he would mostly focus on training you. But that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t drop a few witty remarks about your work and training

-Jouno is sadistic towards everyone, and that includes you. He would like scaring you sometimes, as well as making your training even harder if he felt like you deserved it. He just loves the sound of your heartbeat increasing in fear when he suggests extending your training, but don’t worry he won’t do that because Fukuchi wouldn’t let him

-But Jouno cares about you! He wouldn’t really show it, but it’s there, deep deep down. Even when his trainings are hell, Jouno wouldn’t hesitate to be by your side when you need help. He hates how he would never be able to see you. Fun fact: Jouno finds the sound of your heartbeat the least annoying out of all the Hunting Dogs; it’s even kind of calming to him

-He pushes you to take risks. Definitely gives you harder missions because he thinks it’s a good way for you to grow. Of course, he will assist you if it was too difficult for you

-Definitely would not let anyone bully or harass you. You’re his student afterall, and nobody can hurt someone under Jouno’s wing. So if you’re being bullied or anything, just indirectly tell Jouno and even when he might act like he doesn’t care, he will teach them a lesson when you’re not looking

-Jouno pushes you to succeed, and you will become a great Hunting Dog under his tutelage. Just please don’t pick up any of his sadistic traits.. please?

The sun filtered through the window with lilac curtains giving the room a slight glow illuminating the scene within it; a tall young man with blond hair sat on the floor on the black carpet with a noticeably smaller girl behind him.

There was no one else with whom he could let his guard down like this.

Draken despite the cold shower, knowing that he has rested well and that he should not be sleepy, your soft hands combing him make him drowsy, lethargic and with heavy eyelids, he could hardly see your reflection in the mirror in front of him. He, concentrated on his braid and there was nothing better in the world than you being so close that he could feel your warmth, your soft caresses.

With care and gentleness you manage each blonde strand between your fingers, intertwining little by little. You did not see the mirror, they only saw blonde locks that slipped between your fingers, he had beautiful and well-groomed hair. Almost finalizing the braid was when you directed your gaze towards the mirror in front of you; Draken seemed to be nowhere near falling asleep again from the way he nodded slightly.

"Are you sleepy Ryu?"

A denial was the answer clearly but you only laughed at the obviousness of his lie, he was so cute when he was so helpless and vulnerable with you. They were unique moments and by how he snuggled between your legs he said that he only wanted to spend a few more minutes like that, together.

In the morning when even their paths did not separate, Ken Ryuuguuji could allow himself moments of vulnerability where you would cradle him carefully, smiling at all times and he did not need to have his eyes open to know that your face only showed love, he had already gone through a long stage of doubts, denial and self-inflicted pain that knowing who you are, his partner, that you are by his side and that you do not have any doubt in loving him as he is, with everything included only makes him feel more secure. Draken didn't doubt his love for you, he never could.

The days you left school were naturally late thanks to the extra classes, the club, and other activities. It was normal to walk through the hallways of the school meeting only a few students from grades above who gave tired greetings, it must be difficult to be anywhere from leaving you assumed.

"I think the same! We won't have any meetings at the moment so you will put up with me longer, ”Takemichi joked laughing.

"I like spending time with Takemichi-kun so it wouldn't be to put up with it, it would be spending quality time with my boyfriend"

You refuted by giggling when you heard that he was choking on his own saliva, so you let go of his hand to gently hit his back helping him out of his stupor. The journey from his school to your school was about half an hour, but it was worth every tiny second for Atsushi who, like every Friday, had separated from his other friends to pass by you. Even though they had been going out as boyfriends for more than two and a half years, he still felt the nerves all over his body and the butterflies flying in his stomach that multiplied when he saw him leave the main doors laughing at something that your friends said, you looked beautiful with the glow of the sunset making you the center of their world. It was ridiculous how just by seeing you could make him fall in love more. Trying to regulate his nerves I wait for you when he saw you say goodbye to your friends and jog the rest of the way towards him. Was it even allowed to look this good and attractive in a school uniform? He did not know.

"Did you take too long Atsu?" you questioned your boyfriend smiling.

The other people ceased to exist the moment you approached him, the moment he could see your bright eyes and catch the sweet aroma of your perfume in the air.

"Not at all I just arrived a few minutes ago, how was school?"

With a remarkable pout you started with your remarkable anecdote of this day without even knowing that Atsushi was looking at you as if you were hanging the sun, the moon and the stars in the sky. Akkun only listened and commented from time to time, until it was his turn to tell about his day at school. Neither of them noticed when their hands clasped, it was natural.

Ello Anon! Forgive me for taking so long to get to this but I had to do research cause.... while I’ve heard of it, I’ve never really learned what it is, or how living with it works.

Disclaimer- I’m not all too familiar with epilepsy, so I did some research, and I think I have an idea of how people who have it deal with it? I’m really sorry if I mess this up! Don’t feel afraid to point out any mistakes I do make- love you peeps!

Dazai-

This man is a genius, so you probably don’t have to tell him.

He’ll figure it out on his own, faster than you get the chance to tell him.

He’s incredibly fussy about it. 

He’ll organize all the meds for you in little weekly containers and make sure you have everything you need.

Don’t have a service animal?

He is going to ask you about it.

If you do want one and just can’t afford it...

Happy birthday, here’s your present, a lovely service animal just for you.

He’s very caring and does more research than most people would do.

He wants to prevent anything from happening to you, that includes the seizures.

He knows that they can’t be helped, but he really hates seeing you in any kind of discomfort.

He does everything he can to keep them from happening.

He may be a bit too overprotective with you, but it’s best to let him do this for you.

If you forget your meds one day, then he’ll probably go on a long rant, and start checking daily to make sure you don’t forget.

If you ever do fall into a seizure he will run as fast as possible to you and follow the necessary steps to make sure you come out of it okay.

He actually does wonder what would happen if Yosano used her ability with you during a seizure. Would it stop or make things worse?

He never takes the chance though, not unless he really has to, like if it’s one of the dangerous ones that cause one, after the other, after the other.

He’s always ready to get you in a medical bed, hospital, or the agency.

Chuuya-

He would either have to find out by somebody else you’ve told, seeing you with the meds, or you’ll have to tell him.

He’ll be a bit nervous about it since he doesn't really know what it is.

You’ll have to explain it to him, and he’ll nod and listen carefully to you.

He’ll let you self-monitor, you’ve gotten this far without needing him, so unless you really need him he’ll let you be.

He likes to keep you close with him tough.

The idea of you being alone does scare him with those just-in-case thoughts.

He’s lost a lot of people for various reasons, and he doesn't want you to be among them.

He's loyal, so if you want this to stay between the two of you he won’t mind.

If something ever happens, he'll use his ability to protect your head from smashing on the floor. 

He’ll make sure to get you the appropriate help.

He’ll be terrified, but he never shows it. He keeps calm and tries to help you in every way possible.

Atsushi-

He’ll be so confused when you bring it up.

He has no idea what it is.

Hasn’t ever heard of it. But when you explain it, he's listening carefully.

He’s never sure what to really do.

If you’re busy and need him to go pick up some prescription, he'll go and do it for you.

If you need help organizing, he'll do that too.

As long as he can help you and make you aware that he's trying, he'll be content.

If something were to ever happen, he's quick to get help.

He may panic a bit, but it’s an instinct to prevent your head from bashing to the ground. 

He does exactly as you told him to in case this happens.

He does not leave your side no matter what.

When you’ve recovered enough, he'll hold your hand and hope he did everything right.

He’s very caring and protective of you. 

He’ll ask you to take it easy for a few days. Even if you don’t have to, he just wants you to, so he can feel better about the situation.

It was terrifying to see, and he wants to make sure you’re really alright.

Happy Birthday Kazue Dazai

Today is Kazue’s fictional birthday! Kazue is Dazai’s son from this fiction that I wrote in the beginning of the year. So, here’s a little quick scenario of Dazai and his S/O celebrating Kazue’s birthday! 

Also, yes, I am very upset that I didn’t write for Chuuya’s daughters birthday in August. :( I’ll do a little something for her soon though! 

 To think that an entire year had passed since you had given birth to your son, it both filled you with joy and sorrow. It was bittersweet, to say goodbye to counting his age by months, he was now a year old. Sure, by standards he was still just a baby, and of course, to you and Dazai he would always be your baby, but you were going through what most other mothers went through when their child hit that first year mark. You didn’t want your baby boy to grow up. 

“Y/N! My belladonna, do you know what today is!?” His excited voice startled you out of your sleep, a sleep that you had been enjoying thoroughly after the last few nights. Kazue had just gotten over a minor cold, but his stuffed nose had kept him up most of the night, and it had inevitably kept you awake too. “Shh, Dazai, please. Let me just get... five more minutes.” You mumbled, dropping your head back down onto the pillow before wrapping the ends around your ears. He chuckled lightly, but left the room, allowing the little bit of extra sleep you asked for. 

He walked into Kazue’s room, finding his son already standing up in his crib, holding onto the rails and jumping the best he could when he saw Dazai walk in the room. “Ahh, there’s my big boy! Come here.” He reached out to scoop his son out of the crib, holding him close against his chest as he peppered quick kisses upon his sons head. “Happy Birthday, my blessing.” He murmured, situating his son on his hip as he walked out of the room and into the kitchen, placing him in the highchair. 

Kazue sat in the chair, slapping his chubby hands against the plastic tray, calling out for you. “Mama is sleeping, but...” He pulled a chair out next to the high chair, placing the bowl of oatmeal on the table and giving it a few quick stirs before scooping some on the spoon and bringing it to his sons mouth. “Dada and everyone from my work has planned something amazing for your birthday!” Although Kazue couldn’t understand all that he was saying, Dazai’s tone was enough to have Kazue clapping his hands together. 

You finally emerged from your room an hour later, finding Dazai curled up on the couch with Kazue on his chest. “Where’s Kazue? Where did he go?!” Dazai playfully said, jokingly looking everywhere but down where Kazue had his face buried in Dazai’s chest. “Oh! There he is!” Dazai cheered when his son popped his head back up in Dazai’s view. The twinkling sound of your sons laughter brought the biggest smile to your face. Seeing Dazai with his son, it still shocked you that he had been so worried about being a father before. He was a pro at it, he made it seem so easy. 

“Look’s like you two are having fun.” You said, announcing your presence. Kazue’s head instantly turned to look at you, his hands outstretched in your direction. You quickly pulled him up off Dazai’s chest and hugged him to your own. “Happy Birthday, munchkin.” You murmured, hugging him tightly as he nestled his face into your neck, twirling a piece of your hair around his finger. “So what’s the plan?” 

Kunikida had picked the three of you up from your apartment. He had scheduled his entire day around Kazue’s birthday. As much as Dazai irritated him, your son had managed to bring out a softer side of Kunikida, a side that happened to both feel sorry for, and worry about the child considering the father he had. 

He pulled up outside the Agency building so the three of you could get out before he parked. Dazai carried Kazue in, his son situated on his hip while his other hand stayed wrapped around your waist. Blue and white balloons and streamers lined the walls of the cafe on the bottom floor. “Happy Birthday, Kazue-chan!” The workers all shouted, eye crinkling smiles lined all their faces as they said it. Kazue shouted back, his usual baby babbling as his tiny hands waved around the air. “Enjoy your party!” The workers said, waving to him as you and Dazai walked to the elevator. 

When the elevator made it to the top floor when the office was, Kunikida was already there waiting. He must’ve ran all the way up just to see Kazue’s reaction. “Alright, everything is on schedule. Open the door in three... two... one!” Dazai swung the door open after Kunikida’s countdown, and you were surprised to see everyone who worked at the Agency standing there. “Happy Birthday!” They all shouted in unison, blasting confetti in the air and tossing balloons up. 

Kazue’s eyes lit up at the sight of everyone and everything. The colorful streams of confetti and string falling down to the floor. It warmed your heart, knowing that he had so many people who loved him, who cared for him, who would give up their free day and spend it in the office just to celebrate your sons birthday. 

“Let’s get this party started!” Dazai cheered, grabbing Kazue from your arms and walking with him towards his employees. Party games were a must, and although Kazue wasn’t able to fully participate in most of them, everyone was still having a blast. Hot Potato was probably everyone’s favorite, every time Kazue would get handed the “potato” he would grip it against his chest, lowering his head to chew on the squishy ball. 

When the music came on, Dazai placed Kazue on his feet, playfully dancing around the room with his son. Naomi ended up wanting a chance to dance with Kazue, and when it was her turn she danced him around the entire room. His squeals of excitement as she skipped along with him around everyone was enough to make even Fukuzawa smile. 

“Cake time! Let’s not fall behind schedule!” Kunikida declared, and now it was Ranpos turn to get excited. You brought your son over to the table where pastries and other delicacies were lined, surrounding a beautiful blue cake. Ranpo was right next to you, and although he seemed the least fond of your son, he cracked a small smile and looked up to him. “I see we both have good taste in treats. Don’t mind me, I’ll just take all the ones your little teeth can’t handle.” 

A small camera was set up on a table to record everyone singing happy birthday to your son, but just as you and Dazai were leaning in to help him blow out his candles, he stuck his tiny hand into the cake, grabbing a handful before bringing it up to his mouth. “Awh, man. Keep him away from the cookies, okay.” Ranpo groaned, moving away from the table to sit back at his desk. Kenji thought it was hilarious, as did Tanizaki. “Oh I can’t wait to watch the video! He’s so cute!” Naomi exclaimed, grabbing the camera off the table and ending the recording. 

After Kazue was filled with cake, his lips dyed blue from the icing, his shirt stained, and somehow having icing in his hair, it was time for presents. He sat in Dazai’s lap on the floor as you recorded the two opening the gifts. Everyone had gotten him a great assortment of gifts. My First Doctors Kit from Yosano, A Tiny Pull String Ice Cream Truck from Ranpo, a set of Farm Animals from Kenji, a Ride Along Tiger Toy from Atsushi, A Musical Teddy Bear that played lullabies from Naomi and Tanizaki, a Baby’s First Cellphone from Kyouka, a notebook for him to use when he’s older from Kunikida, and a small plush kitten from Fukuzawa. 

Kazue ended up loving Fukuzawa’s gift the most, clinging to it dearly and snuggling it under his chin. “Fu... Fuwa...” Kazue babbled, and at first everyone thought he was trying to name it Fluffy, but what warmed your heart the most, and seemed to surprise everyone in the room was when Fukuzawa sat on the floor next to Dazai and pointed to the small plush cat. “Fuwa?” He asked your son, and he quickly shook his head no, pointing his chubby little finger at Fukuzawa and then holding out the kitten. “Fuwa!” He was trying to say Fukuzawa’s name, he had named his kitten after Fukuzawa. 

The day soon came to an end as the sun set over the city. Kazue rested his head against Dazai’s shoulder, still clinging to his Fuwa as everyone helped carry the gifts out to Kunikida’s car. The ride home was quiet, nobody wanted to wake him up as he dozed quietly in his car seat. When the three of you got home, you quickly carried him up to his room and laid him in his crib while Kunikida and Dazai brought the gifts up. 

“I think he had a great time. Don’t you?” Dazai asked, his arm wrapped around your shoulder as the two of you relaxed on the couch. It was an amazing day, and you knew Kazue had an amazing time, you could see it in the video’s you had taken from the day. “Mmhm... he’s all tuckered out...” You murmured, resting your head against Dazai’s arm, your eyes slowly drooping shut. He chuckled and slowly moved to stand up, pulling you up off the couch and into his arms. “He’s not the only one. Come on, let’s get some sleep before he wakes up.”

Okay; seeing as the Bungou Stray Dogs fanfiction community is far too small and really needs to be much bigger than it is, do you have any favorite fanfictions related to BSD that you throughly enjoy?

What a great question! I agree with you 100% that the BSD fanfic writing community is very small and I would love for it to be a lot bigger. But I also think that the reason it’s as small as it is, is because BSD is actually a rather small fandom as far as I’m aware. It’s really only popular on twitter and if I asked an average anime fan what they thought of it, chances are slightly  high that they’ve never heard of it before.

Ah that’s a ramble, I’m sorry!

Keiji Fujiwara died of cancer at the age of 55. The news was devastating for the seiyuu community. I had the honor of working together with him for various works, during my first public performance at Tokyo Dome he provided wonderful narration, and at the planetarium in my home prefecture I had the honor of performing together with him... Truly I was blessed with so many irreplaceable experiences. I pray from my heart that you rest in peace.

The performance at Tokyo Dome is referencing NANA MIZUKI LIVE CASTLE 2011, a series of live concerts performed at Tokyo Dome by Mizuki Nana on 2011/12/3 and 2011/12/4. Fujiwara provided narration for a short film called PLANETARIUM "Princess Nana of the Heavens" (PLANETARIUM「天界の奈々姫」) which was shown during the concert on both days.

I hate the idea of something getting overshadowed without anyone knowing about it, so I will write about it here.

Since we first met when I was 19, I've been in your debt for a long time. Since before we started having work together, you'd hear out my concerns and give me advice, and go along with my selfish requests to take me along for drinks. Even though you'd always say, "Waddaya want now, Tattsun," you'd always keep your promises. Whenever we met at the studio you'd always be giving off a pleasant, lazy mood. When you were the sound director you'd say things like "Tattsun, you're the only person I can ask for this," things that I couldn't tell if you were being serious or not. It's only now that I can say this, but I took you seriously every time, and every time I was seriously happy you asked me. The fact that you said those things to me.

Sometimes I'd tell you about how people say that our voices or our acting are similar, and even though you'd reply by saying stuff like, "What? That's gross," behind your sunglasses I could see that the look in your eyes always softened happily. I like chatting in the smoking area, so anytime I'd spot you I'd head straight there. When you'd say, "Yo!" to me, it was a little embarrassing, but I was always happy you did.

I won't talk about acting. That's something I'll keep locked away in my heart.

I know you had it tough. However, I stopped talking about it. Since you hate that.

All I can remember, is you always saying, "Yo! Tattsun," every time you saw me. Gimme a break, let me remember something else, too.

Thank you for always listening to my selfish requests. Thank you for always listening to both my trivial ramblings and my serious talks.

I always thought you were an annoyingly cool old man. You were always the best. You were always the strongest.

Everything about you is cool. So I envy you.

When I go over there, I'm gonna have a ton of stories for you. Before I do, please make sure to find some good sake and tobacco over there. It might take a while, but I'm definitely going to have, a ton I want to talk to you about.

It's about time I wrapped things up. This is a letter that will never be read by its recipient, after all, so there's no point in going on for too long.

I put more effort into this than some essays I’ve done for school/college

There are two confirmed dates we know in the Boueibu timeline.

In LOVE LOVE, March 13th is on a Friday. (Shown on Kinshirou’s omen calendar.)

In Happy Kiss, August 31st is on a Friday 10 years later. (Shown on Rashio’s calendar and a wall calendar in the Kurotama.)

In Robihachi, we know the moon landing happened on July 18, 1969 (in real life it was July 20th), which was marked as Galaxy Century 0001. The current timeline is happening in GC 0051, so sometime after July 18, 2019 (unless the GC is added to on New Year’s, but I’ll get to that).

Let’s start off with when Boueibu can’t take place. (The main timeline, at least. Flashbacks are possible.)

The 70s. The only March 13th that’s on a Friday is in 1970. This would put all of LOVE in 1969, and Happy Kiss in 1979. We know the beginning of LOVE takes place pre-July, so this wouldn’t work because it’s before the first contact. There’s also the case of all the flashbacks – Goura being a hero, the Beppu’s father’s job… Aliens had definitely made contact, so none of that could’ve taken place in the 60s.

The 00s. While March 13, 2009 is on a Friday, it would mean Happy Kiss takes place in 2018. The technology in Robihachi seems too advanced for it to take place the year after Happy Kiss, unless Binan went untouched by the technological advances shown in Neo-Tokyo. Plus, Boueibu LOVE and LOVE LOVE merch and posters were shown on a planet that loves mainly retro anime. It was most likely CIDER rebranded as Boueibu. The 00s is too recent to be retro.

So, there are three possibilities for where Boueibu fits in:

LOVE – 1980-81, HK – 1990

LOVE – 1991-92, HK – 2001

LOVE – 1997-98, HK – 2007

As of now, we can only speculate which option is correct. Under the cut, I’ll explain which of the options I think it is, and why.

We may be able to narrow it down further based on the events that Atsushi asks En if he’s thinking about:

The tax increase – L

The Olympics – L, LL, and LLL

The constitution – LL

Chikuwabu – LL

Toyosu – LLL

Trump - LLL

Chikuwabu being brought up in the second season is a reference to the first season, but it’s also a hint – none of the subjects Atsushi brings up is random. Everything he mentions is something En has talked about in the past in a similar train of thought conversation, though off-screen. So it doesn’t necessarily need to be a current event for Atsushi to bring it up – after all, En ranted about chikuwabu in what was probably April or May, only for Atsushi to guess it in November.

Something to keep in mind for Atsushi’s comments is they were probably meant to be references to current events from when the seasons/OVA came out. However, I still was able to find things relating to them in the 80s and 90s. Their timeline is also split off our own – changes started happening July 18, 1969. So, these could be references to things that never happened in our timeline, or things that could have happened but didn’t. So these points are really in a gray area.

The one constant through LOVE, LOVE LOVE, and LOVE LOVE LOVE is the Olympics, so let’s start with that. I looked up Olympic years to see what the overlap was with the timeline estimates.

1980 – winter was in the US, summer was in the Soviet Union

1992 – winter was in France, summer was in Spain

1996 – summer, in the US

1998 – winter, in Japan

The tax increase – According to Wikipedia, there was a tax increase to 5% in April 1997. For tax-related things in general, “Japan introduced the national consumption tax of three percent in 1989” (Wikipedia).

The constitution – According to Wikipedia, “From the 1960s to the 1980s, Constitutional revision was rarely debated.” There were some suggestions for revisions in the 1990s.

Toyosu –Urban Dock LaLaPort opened in the 1980s – it’s a huge shopping mall with a cinema, restaurants, and cafes.

Trump – It could be referring to anything for these three estimates – financial losses in the 1980s, the Grand Hyatt Hotel was opened in 1980, and in the 90s he was dropped from the Forbes List, had some bankruptcies, got a divorce, and met his current wife. There’s probably more, but that’s really what I could find on Wikipedia.

Now, you may be thinking, “This was supposed to narrow it all down! There’s too many options!” Like I said, these are events that were current for when the anime was airing, but I wanted to prove that they could apply to all three options.

To narrow things down for real, there are a few things we have to look at.

When the twins are watching Maximum Gorar, they have an old TV and a strange looking remote control. Takamatsu tweeted about it back in 2016, and the remote is based on one that actually existed – the Zubacon. He said it came out in the early 1970s, and I found it came out in 1971, to be exact.

The second flashback is in Happy Kiss. In the treasure hunt/time capsule episode, there’s a flashback with a poster of a GameCube-style system with the kanji 新発売 – which translates to “new product/model.” In reality, it came out in 2001, but there were some updated models that were released until it was discontinued in 2007.

According to Yang, Binan Shonen Love-Love was an anime from when he was in grade school – specifically he says 小​学​生 which is elementary school, so first to sixth grade. He would have been anywhere from six to twelve. The art style doesn’t look like Hizakuriger, so we know it’s not a retro-retro anime, but we don’t have Yang’s official age. We also don’t know if Binan Shonen Love-Love was based off of Boueibu or if Binan was chosen in CIDER due to the anime’s popularity.

Until we get an official age, let’s say Yang’s 30 at the youngest, and 45 at the oldest. If he’s 45, he would have entered first grade in 1980 and left sixth grade in 1986. If he’s 30, he would have entered first grade in 1995 and left sixth grade in 2001. So Binan Shonen aired sometime between 1980 and 2001.

Finally, there’s references to other anime.

In LOVE’s beach episode, Atsushi references Detective Conan. That started in Shonen Jump in 1994.

On the stats screen for the idol battle in LOVE LOVE, Ryuu is making a Sailor Moon pose. Sailor Moon started in 1991.

In Happy Kiss’s beach/vacation episode, Karurusu references the Sazae-san anime, which began airing in 1969 and is the longest running animated television series. (While Sazae-san won’t help us on the timeline, I just want to point out it’s interesting that it started the same year as the moon landing – GC 0001.)

Putting all of this together, from what we know I think it’s safe to say Boueibu took place during the third option – 1997-98, with Happy Kiss in 2007.

Why?

It’s mainly because of the last point – the anime references. However, this shouldn’t be the driving factor of the timeline theory. After all, because of the contact with aliens, these series could have all started sooner. However, let me back up and explain with the other points.

It places the third years’ births in 1979, the second years in 1980, and Yumoto in 1981. With the twins being born in 1980, this would make them start elementary school in 1986. While their remote is from the early 70s, it’s plausible they would still be using it in the 80s to watch Maximum Gorar. Because really, how often do you change your remote?

Now, the GameCube lookalike. Kingo is a first year, so if Happy Kiss takes place in 2007, the flashback could have taken place around 2001, possibly a few years earlier if alien technology sped up the process in which the GameCube was released.

From the glimpse we saw, Binan Shonen Love-Love doesn’t look like an 80s anime. It could have aired in the gap between the OVA and Happy Kiss, based off the popularity of CIDER – sometime between 1998 and 2001, when Yang was still in elementary school. However, if CIDER chose Binan because of the anime, it could have taken place as early as 1980.

Having LOVE take place in 1997-98 makes sense for their current technology – their phones appear to be the model Sony Xperia S, which was released in 2012, but due to alien technology could have been released sooner – especially since the first touchscreen phone was released in 1992.

In the New Year’s episode, the remote control doesn’t look modern – it could pass as one from our 90s or 00s. Plus, Atsushi has a DVD boxed set, not Blu-rays. The first DVDs came out in the late 90s.

In Happy Kiss, the Kurotama now has a flat screen TV that looks like an older model (for us). Yumoto uses an older looking instant Polaroid camera in Ata’s flashback in Happy Kiss. They’re still used today, but they were popular in the 90s.

In conclusion, LOVE takes place in 1997-98, and Happy Kiss takes place in 2007.

Now, to find out what Galaxy Centuries they take place. 1969 is counted as 0001 – which makes the math slightly confusing. It’s not like birthdays, where you count the anniversaries and not the actual birth. This makes 2019 GC 0051.

Assuming that Galaxy Centuries start in July and years are counted separately (because of the New Year episode), LOVE takes place in GC 28-29, and Happy Kiss takes place in GC 38-39.

If the next GC starts on New Year’s, then LOVE takes place in GC 29-30, and Happy Kiss takes place in GC 39.

Anyway, onto how old the LOVE and Happy Kiss boys would be if they appear in Robihachi!

LOVE:

Third years – 40

Second years – 39

Yumoto – 38

Happy Kiss:

Third years – 30

Second years – 29

First years – 28

(Also, if Hatchi really is 18 like his bio says (instead of being older and hiding his age to keep his identity as the moon prince secret) his birth year would be 2001, three years after the OVA, making it possible that Kinshirou could be his father if he had him at 22.)

Hey anon, I hope you don’t mind that I used my child!Dazai au as the setting for this (all the ontext you need is that Dazai is a kid and was adopted by Ango)! Just to be sure, I kept the mentions of him to a minimum, and if you want something that includes him more, you just gotta request it!!

Shinji, being the shy kid he is, takes awhile to get closer to Ango. He rarely talks and is usually hiding behind one of his siblings. It’s only when Ango, who’s used to doing it for Dazai, offers to read for him that Shinji gets closer to him.

He now has a habit of just sitting by Ango, leaning against Ango while he does his own thing.

Yuu is usually on his other side, playing one of his games. Ango isn’t good with video games, but Yuu will sometimes ask him to explain a word or sentence he doesn’t quite understand

Yuu sees Ango as this super smart guy (because of how Odasaku usually talks about him) and Ango has tried to tell him he doesn’t know everything, but to no avail

Katsumi has a ridiculous amount of energy, and Ango can never keep up with him. Usually Ango will just keep an eye on him (since he’s not very good at sports) while he plays with his siblings and/or Oda; Katsumi says he likes it when Ango is watching, bc he knows someone is looking out for all of them

That includes Oda btw. All the kids care about Oda, but Katsumi is the one that worries the most in “he takes care of us, but who takes care of him?” kind of way. He’s usually the first one to let Ango know when there’s something wrong with Oda, which goes to show how much he trusts him to help

As the “leader” of the children, Kosuke took it upon himself to make sure Ango doesn’t do anything to hurt Oda. For awhile, he’d give Ango these really intense looks, just. Staring at him all creepily, all unsettling. But Oda always smiled around Ango so he officially gave Ango his “you’re okay” seal, and the rest of the kids followed his lead

Kosuke likes getting Ango opinion on things. Oda usually praises whatever they do, not because he’s lying to them or anything, he just sincerely believes everything they do to be good. Since Ango will tell them how to improve on something they did (if they ask for his opinion of course), Kosuke prefers to ask him

Sakura one time overhead Odasaku say Ango doesn’t drink enough water and now he can’t escape her trying to make sure he’s hydrated. He’ll be in the middle of a sentence and Sakura will pop up and shove a glass of water into his hands and not leave until he has drunk all of it. She also leaves little snacks close by whenever Ango looks particularly tired

Ango loves joining Sakura for one of her tea parties. They’ll talk to each other and just drink “tea” for an hour or so, and Sakura takes it very seriously. Do not interrupt her tea parties. (Also for one of her birthdays, Ango plans with Odasaku an actual tea party, with fancy china and everything, and that’s her most cherished memory)

The kids think it’s hilarious to play hide and seek with Ango bc he’s *terrible* at it, he usually only finds one of them, maybe two if he’s very lucky. Oda has to convince them not to pick on Ango too much over it

Sakura and Shinji LOVE story time, and it’s not too difficult to please both of them (Sakura likes stories with animals and adventures, while Shinji likes fairytales and literally anything that has a happy ending). The problem is when Dazai is in the group, since he likes murder mysteries and horror stories, which the other kids are scared of

The only solution to this is Sakura talking him into picking something else, since Sakura is the only kid (besides Atsushi) who can convince Dazai to do anything

Shinji usually also joins Sakura’s tea party, and more rarely Yuu will do too, when he gets tired of running around with Kosuke and Katsumi.

Ango is always suspicious of when the five of them are talking in a little circle, it always leads to disaster, but Odasaku never listens to Ango when he tries to warn him.

It’s okay tho bc Odasaku usually protects Ango from whatever scheme they’ve planned this time (which does nothing to help Ango’s blood pressure, however)

The kids have gotten into the habit of collapsing into a dog pile right on top of Ango so he won’t leave the bed and actually sleep, and Oda will lie down on whatever space is left

Ango despairs over the fact that he has a shitty back and he can’t really give piggyback rides or carry the kids for long, but he’s always (and I mean always) complies when any of them asks to hold hands or to sit on his lap on anything of the sort

Also they like helping Oda make breakfast in the morning and will always fight among themselves over who gets to give Ango his coffee (and the rest of his food, if it’s a breakfast in bed kind of day)

Dazai is banned doing it since the time he tripped on the way and got hot coffee all over the sheets and Ango himself, then proceeded to laugh the entire time instead of apologizing

In public, I have two nicknames I’m most comfortable with — Linkle, which is one used by everyone, and Tippi-chan, which is a nickname given to me by a dear friend of mine on another site and has only ever been used by him. I like both of these, but Tippi-chan I consider to be a more familiar way of addressing me that I associate with people to which I’m very close.

I’m a girl, so she/her pronouns, please, when you’re referring to me and not my muse.

Birthday?

That’s a secret to everyone except my closest friends, and I’d rather it stayed that way. ~

How would you describe yourself?

I would say that the way I present online and the way I present in person is very different; online, I enjoy socializing through writing and overall am just a very outgoing and talkative person, while offline, I am extremely introverted and would much prefer to speak and carry on conversation through text than audible words. In both cases I am shy in my own ways.

Don’t ever expect to audio or video chat with me, sorry; that’s completely off the table.

Hobbies/Interests?

I love writing analyses, meta, theories, etc. about my favorite series; I also write fanfics, RP, draw, play video games, watch my favorite shows, and run several different blogs. There are honestly too many things to list here.

Fandom wise, my biggest interests are Bungou Stray Dogs, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, Legend of Zelda, Ace Attorney, and Doctor Who (up until Series 10 of NuWho), and although I love them all nearly equally, it would likely be in that particular order if I had to choose. I am extremely opinionated and firm in my beliefs, but I also have no troubles socializing with people who have differing opinions and respecting them greatly.

I love music in general, and my tastes are all over the place.

Are you a fan of anime? If so, what are your favourite ones?

Um, am I the only one who thinks that’s kind of a silly question, considering I’m a member of the Awkward Squad? Yes, obviously, I am. My absolute favorite anime is Bungou Stray Dogs, without any equal. I also enjoy Persona 5 the Animation, Mushishi, and Noragami, though truthfully I don’t watch very much anime outside of BSD. 

I do like Diabolik Lovers as a series a little, but I wouldn’t list the anime as being one of my favorites though I’ve finished watching it, and I’ve only watched some subbed playthroughs of the games; I’m not that into romance and mostly just appreciate the characters themselves to some extent.

Do you ship? If so, what is/are your favourite ship(s)?

I do ship, although given I’m ace, for me most of my ships tend towards the platonic side even when they’re romanctic; I’m fairly innocent minded as a general rule.

You can learn most of my primary ships through a certain section on my main blog’s directory, but in general my biggest ships from BSD are Platonic! Odazai (Dazai x Odasaku), ChuuArt (Chuuya x Randou/Arthur Rimbaud), AkuHigu (Akutagawa x Higuchi), and Kyouka x Atsushi (which I’m not sure of the official ship name for). Yes, I know, most of my main ships are rare pairs and some a bit controversial, but I love them all dearly.

Favourite Character(s)?

Dazai, Odasaku, Chuuya, and Randou/Arthur Rimbaud are all my equally loved BSD babies. 💙

I also adore Yashiro Tsurugi from Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, Clay Terran from Ace Attorney, and Link from the Legend of Zelda.

If you could bring any character to life to become your best friend (or partner), who would it be?

I couldn’t possibly choose who to bring into this world, because all of the characters I love most have someone they deserve to be happy with, so I couldn’t separate them. 

Maybe Shad from the Legend of Zelda, because we could do Historical work together.

If you could have any superpower (it can be from an anime, movie, video game, or anywhere really), what would it be?

I’m happy with who I am and the abilities I have just to speak to others this way and do the things I do, but if I had an ability other than those, I think it would be one to peaceably stop wars and have everyone just be happy together. It’s corny, I know, but it’s true.

How many posts do you plan on posting a day?

I’m not sure. It depends on the day. I have a lot of drafts to clear out in my main blog, but I imagine it should be a fair number of posts even from here, so long as there’s content and people wanting to interact with me.

Happy birthday, Kousaka Atsushi! This is an English-translated transcript of the extra video of his cross interview for the March 13, 2017 episode of Animemashite!

K: Nejimaki Kagyu. Well, I know this one too. I’d read it.

A: Really?

K: Mm. Kagyu-chan.

A: I liked it a lot.

K: What about it did you like?

A: The way it somehow crashes into you with impact? Like - I had never seen [drawings] being used so boldly in such a manner, was what was in my head when I was reading it. Such a cute character was there, when you look at her she’s really cute, but sometimes when her expressions would change, it seems like the [way the faces were drawn] would change eras, too, and just when it seems like that's become their face for the second half [of the story], uh, the eyes would get reaaaaally large, ah, somehow, within me I really felt as if the pictures were flowing - as I reread it, rereading it as an adult, I thought that it may be the first time I've been excited over something this much.

K: Ehhhh.

A: That’s how I feel.

K: Certainly, though... Well – the facial expressions change very rapidly, that’s good, I thought when I saw it, but, somehow, recently, that author has a new work, don’t they –

A: Ah. Urataro, right?

K: Yes yes yes. I’ve read through that one quite a bit too.

A: It’s interesting.

K: Right? Really good. Mm.

A thing you’re hooked on lately (your hobbies, etc.) | Marvel Heroes

A: You know...what I think makes them fresh to me is that their heroes have things Japanese heroes don’t have. ...First off, there’s the protagonist – they’ve got a lot of protagonists who aren’t young boys.

K: Ah, right. Adults...

A: Yes, adults. ...And also, even if the protagonist is a woman, because she’s a hero, when she transforms, she becomes a gorilla!

Both: *laugh*

A: Isn’t THAT exciting?!? This, WHAT development is this gonna lead to?!?!?!? kind of feeling. Isn’t it exciting??

K: ...that’s...right... They have that green giant too,

A: Yes yes yes yes. Those times when they're really supposed to hurt, but they have [healing powers] are also interesting - or so I think. The stories have been going on for SO LONG, so they’ve come up with loads and loads of plotlines, even some that would make you think “is it REALLY okay to be using THIS topic???” There’s also stories that make you go “WHAT’S HAPPENING – AHH, SO THAT’S WHAT’S GOING ON,” too. And that’s interesting.

K: *points to camera, in Kansaiben* They're never gonna call you up, yanno. lol

A: WHAT THE HELL???? I WANT to be a Marvel hero!!!!!

K: Somehow, it’s understandable, isn’t it.

A: My hips feel so heavy.

A: Way back. I've only ever had [personal] growth when it comes to work. ...So I guess, because I give my all in that aspect, I've become like this? Is what I think.

K: What are you lazy at? Stuff you’d go “I don’t wanna do this” at –

A: Everything.

A: On off days all I wanna do is sleep at home.

A: Whenever I have time off I just want to sleep.

K: ...I dunno how I’m supposed to expound on THAT, though...

A seiyuu who shocked you | Nozawa Nachi-san and Yajima Akiko-san

A: Nozawa Nachi-san was, I used to hear him originally as a dubber, but he also dabbles in anime stuff, uhh...like that thing that had been rerun, Cobra.

K: Ah, Cobra, huh?

A: I got to watch him in that, and also, in Star Wars as C3PO. He didn’t change his voice all that much, but he’d managed to change how he portrays the characters by that much. He gets characters who are a bit mad, calm characters too, that was such an impact to me as a little kid. Also, Yajima Akiko-san – when I was a kid, I ended up unintentionally watching Crayon Shin-chan, and then, when I watched Gundam Wing, I saw the cast list – I wonder if I was in fourth or fifth grade of elementary at this time or something, because by that time I paid attention to the cast lists of anime. Because I was curious as to who was playing who. And then, when I saw the cast list, the heroine Lily was portrayed by Yajima Akiko-san. And I was thinking “where did I see this before? I’m pretty sure I saw this name before...” Days passed, and then suddenly I came across Crayon Shin-chan, and on the cast list, Crayon Shin-chan was: Nohara Shinnosuke – Yajima Akiko-san. And I was like – EH? EHH????? ...I didn’t notice ANYTHING at all! “Eh, people can change their voices THAT much??” and that was another shock I remember.

K: It really is...

A: Child actors are AMAZING!

K: They ARE!!!!! SO good.

A: They're PERFECT. And what’s more, they have to continue acting in that child’s role for so long, too.

Well, I dabbled a bit in bishoujo games and stuff, and the childhood friend heroine, when she would change her hairstyle, somehow it felt new. And the way you’d look at her would change, too. And I felt that was very realistic of them. And gradually, you’d get along better and better with that childhood friend – well you’ve always been close to her, but as time went on the love you had for her in your heart would change. What kind of seiyuu do you want to be in the future? | An entertainer who is an actor at heart

A: Well...when I decided to be a seiyuu twelve...thirteen years ago, the industry didn't have the elements it has now - where you show your face, sing songs, and even go dancing, right?

K: Yeah...I guess...we're almost reaching the point where we're asking "are we idols?" right now, aren't we.

A: I know, right? Especially male seiyuu, they didn't do this kind of work before.

K: They didn't.

A: That's why what I aimed for myself is - as an actor, a seiyuu, um, of course I know, from within, that I want to take part in recording over various things, work from a script, but recently there's been various experiences that made me think, "ah, the way people recognize the seiyuu industry has changed, hasn't it?" Just like how we're doing a TV show like this, or if one day you'd have to sing songs - not as a character, but as yourself, or if someday you'll do MC - be an MC for radio, or take part in events, and stuff. And aren't those fun in their own way? Of course doing normal seiyuu work is already nice, I think. But inside you, on your part - mm, realistically? At the root of it? "I'm doing this as an ACTOR," you should never forget this. Like...you portray an idol character, you dance and sing on stage, fans scream over you - but that doesn't mean you've become an idol, and I think that shouldn't be forgotten. In that vein, even if you've become an MC, and had come up with a lot of good conversations, "ah, I'm not an MC, and I'm not a comedian either". Because at the root of it is being an actor. And so I think that as an actor, you've taken part in all these other things. So going on forward, what I've decided on is - I wonder if I should call it an entertainer rather than an actor?

K: I understand...yes yes yes.

A: Or rather, someone who is an entertainer through [their capacity as] an actor. That's what I'm aiming for.

K: I see...you said a lot of good stuff...

A: Well it's - isn't it THAT kinda corner??

Question from Kawanishi Kengo: How could you describe how it's been since you graduated up to now? | I can't describe it in one phrase.

A: Way back, I'd had feelings that went "if it comes to scenes, if it comes to the emotions behind the scenes, I'll never lose to anyone." But of course you could never win against the ones before you, you'd wonder why, how you could make it okay, and get all depressed, I guess? I got depressed.

K: I see. So now, after those failures - if we call them failures?

A: Just like you said earlier, we should take it easy. What I was taught kinda fits, but it's - instead of just wanting to be “enough”, aim for being “good enough”. Don’t just be “enough”, be “good enough” instead. So it's fine if you feel like you have to take down notes, because you should go at your own pace; I've read a lot of books and watched stuff on TV and, thinking "ahh so such things exist," absorbed them as part of me. And...going in that manner, I realized, mm, I guess, mm, I am me, and they are them, that's why I'll never be the same as other people. So why did I even think of comparing myself to other people, in the past? That's why, hmm, I wonder if I got rid of that habit now...

K: Mm...I see.

A: I think people can’t help but compare themselves to others though? No matter what.

K: I guess?

A: In auditions and stuff, no matter what you do, winning and losing...it sounds odd to think about it as “winning and losing”; just because you passed [an audition stage] doesn’t mean you can relax. And even though there are things you can compare, fundamentally speaking...that kind of...feeling where you’re always wondering how you would stack up against someone, I [think] I’ve lost that.

K: Mm. Then...I guess it’s something you understand now after becoming an adult, huh.

A: I wonder if it is...Mm. As long as you focus your strengths on it –

K: That’s important, isn’t it? Mm.

A: Mm.

K: Of course that kind of...right? How you were during your first recording? That kind of voracious performance? You can’t go back on that.

A: Well, I guess I could think that I’m thankful things actually happened that way. The kind of voracious energy hiding under the nervousness of my past self – do I still have it now? Haha. Don’t you ever think about that?

He hates feeling not at his best, feeling as he’s going to lose. So, he decides he’s going to ask it when he really his as his top.

-He waits for the last match of the international basketball tournament of the year. He had asked the coach to let you sit on the benches during the match so that it’s going to be easy for him to reach you. Everyone says it’s the best match Aomine has ever played: he’s the king of the court, a wild animal without leashes, unstoppable. The number one. Every time he scores he grins widely.He crushes his adversaries, even if they we’re a powerful team. Because this time he can’t afford to lose. Not tonight. He has a bet with himself.

-When, finally, they are celebrating on the podium and the presenter had put around his neck the golden medal, he jumps down from his place and walks right to you, who are already enthusiastic about the victory and jumping around excitedly. All the eyes of the entire gym and the cameras are on you two, but Aomine sees only you. A smirk on his lips, face still flushed and eyes glimmering.

Murasakibara Atsushi-In a domestic, sweet and comfy way. It’s just that for you it’s like being already married, you already live like that so…Murasakibara realizes you’re not only when one of his friend tells him he’s going to marry.

-It’s a normal evening. You two are eating at the table what he has cooked and you are chatting happily about the day, as he nods, listening even if he seems not to. You think it’s going to be a normal night: you’ll wash the plates and he’ll dry them, putting them away since he’s taller. Maybe then some cuddles on the couch, laughing and munching sweets. In the end, sleeping curled in Murasakibara’s arms. But then Murasakibara starts a new conversation out of nowhere and changes the rest of your lives in few seconds.

“We’re like married, aren’t we?” He’s stopped eating and his words sound casual, as he looks up from his plate and meets your gaze. You nearly choke on your food and cough, embarrassed by the sudden change of topic.“I-I think so…” You stutter, not daring to lower your gaze but already feeling your cheeks getting redder.“But we aren’t,” He adds calmly. A sting to your heart, but you manage to keep your smile.“Yeah…”“Then let’s make it official.” And suddenly Murasakibara is stretching to you a small, open box. In the middle you can see a golden ring with three amethyst.“W-what…?”“Marry me, SO.”You blinked at him completely lost, fear and happiness swirling in your mind.“How-Why-I-”“It’s already like we’re married no? I just want to make this official,” he shrugs, “So that I’m sure you’re going to be with me forever.”Maybe is seeing his red cheeks or the way his hand is slightly trembling, but everything clicks and you start crying. Stumbling you leave your seat and hug him tightly, as Murasakibara pulls you in his laps and buries his face in the crook of your neck.“Yeah, let’s make it official. Our forever.”

Himuro  Tatsuya-He’s the mysterious and cool guy who likes to tease, that’s how I see him in a relationship. So, a simple thing but meaningful for you. Unexpected.

-He just picks you from work one evening and instead of bringing you home, he drives till your old high school. You are confused, but as always he just smirks and teases you without revealing his intentions.“How do you even have the keys?”“I have my ways, don’t worry.”“I don’t think this is legal you know?”“Maybe it isn’t..”You want to pout but his chuckle is too cute and endearing to do it for real. And you’re also starting to feel a bit excited and fidgety; especially because you’ve seen how he’s playing with the car keys or how he draws circles with his thumb on the back of your hand, as he guides you through the corridors.

-Finally, you arrive to your old classroom. The one you shared in your third year. He opens the door and you gasp in surprise. Inside, two small desk have been set for dinner, glowing candles scattered around the classroom giving a special atmosphere.“Do you remember?” You nearly jump for the surprise as he leans to whisper in your ear, cold breath lingering on your skin.“W-what?”He chuckles and gently guides you inside.“Here you took the courage and confessed to me,” He recalls with a soft smile, “We’d been dancing around each other for months…but you were the one who confessed first in the end. Stuttering and blushing…but so brave.”You blush even now, slowly understanding where this is going. He lets your hand go and you stop walking. Mayuzumi Chihiro-It’s a real torture for him. I mean, going out of his way to be tender and sweet to marry you? Come on, you know him, he knows he’s going to sound fake to you if he tries. He also knows that you’re able to put up with his personality so…how to ask it without being cheesy or pathetic? All those tutorials and videos have been useless and he’s getting more and more frustrated. Why is it so difficult?

  Most Wholesome: K-ON! - “Christmas!”

  One thing people tend to do when it comes to the holiday season is find ways to make the people they care about safe and happy — especially by gifting them family and friends items that will keep them snug and warm. Yui and Ui, they both decide to give each other the gift of warmth but there’s an issue … the Light Music Club decides to host a gift exchange, which could potentially throw a wrench into the two of them receiving the right gift. This episode is also fun thanks to Ui getting duped into thinking she needs to prepare for a nonexistent talent show as well as kid Yui’s antics to make sure Ui could see a white Christmas. It’ll certainly make you feel nice and warm inside, just like Yui and Ui eventually do.

  Best Episode To Avoid A Love Triangle and Still Enjoy A Concert: Lovely Complex - “A Love Triangle With My Ex!?”

    Somehow, Lovely Complex manages to pack in multiple holiday episodes into the series, but we’re going to focus on the first one which winds up being the second episode. Risa and Atsushi’s plans to see their favorite performer, Umibozu, on Christmas nearly goes awry when Atsushi’s ex-girlfriend suddenly comes back into the picture. This makes things complicated as Risa is beginning to try and sort out her feelings when it comes to Atsushi. Risa begins to think she’ll get ditched, which would make for a very disappointing Christmas. Thankfully, that doesn’t happen because Atsushi doesn’t skip out on their plans to hang out with his ex. While these two will go through a whole lot of drama as the series progresses, this leads to a fun Christmas outing for the two.

  Most Heartwarming: Cardcaptor Sakura - “Sakura’s Wonderful Christmas”

    Like I mentioned earlier, an important aspect of the holidays is the feeling of being warm. You can accomplish that by putting on warm clothes, doing nice things, or just by … setting things on fire. That’s what happens when Sakura tries to give a gift to Yukito for Christmas, but oh no! The amusement park begins to catch fire due to The Fiery card! Being trapped in a burning amusement park is not how people want to be warm during the holidays, but thanks to Sakura, her pals, and some clever card usage, she’s able to put out the fire and acquire a new Clow Card in the process — just in time to still be able to give Yukito the gift she made for him.

  Most Chaotic: Persona 4 The Golden Animation - “Not So Holy Christmas Eve”

    This episode is a comedy of errors and I love it for that. The Investigation Team wants to get together to have a big meal and hang out for the holidays, which is pretty normal for the group. Except Naoto somehow gets it in her mind that someone is out to kill her and ends up stumbling into a variety of scenes that play into her warped idea, such as stumbling into a room full of “bloody” bodies. It’s a series of escalating and ridiculous scenes that eventually culminate in Naoto realizing she’s been mistaken the entire time. This episode never fails to make me laugh, which is something you also need during the holidays. There’s nothing better than a good hearty laugh with friends and family during this season.

  Best Episode To Truly Learn How To Make Friends During Christmas: A Place Further Than the Universe - “Partial Friendship”

    There’s a very small percentage of people who can say they’ve celebrated the holidays in Antarctica. The girls of A Place Further Than The Universe experience this first hand and also get a lesson in the complicated nature of friendships. Yuzuki has certainly had a hard time making and keeping friends throughout her life, being a child actor and having to navigate having time to hang out and work. Most of the time, that’s just not worked out. Even though she’s been with the other girls for a while now, she still is unsure if she can call them friends. This leads to a tense and emotional standoff as Mari gets offended when Yuzuki offers them “friendship contracts.” Thankfully, the girls are able to work things out and show Yuzuki that they’ve been friends for quite some time now and make sure to celebrate Yuzuki’s birthday, albeit a bit later than when it actually is. I’m sure this puts Yuzuki in an even smaller group of people who got to celebrate Christmas and their birthday in Antarctica.

  Best Wingman on Christmas: MY Love STORY!! - “My Christmas”

    Takeo and Rinko are a model couple, so it makes sense that they’d want to help out their friends and set them up. The problem with that — especially during the holidays — is that it can be a real awkward time for everyone if things don’t go as planned. This almost happens for Takeo’s friend, who wants to get together with one of Rinko’s friends. When situations like this arise, it’s key to have a good wingman like Takeo on your side to make sure you don’t blow it. Takeo’s certainly the kind of friend who will want to keep his friends happy, but also give them the right kind of pep talk to straighten them out if things are going awry. Of course, this pep talk eventually leads to his friend climbing a giant Christmas tree to retrieve a star — and that’s the kind of act that makes everything work out. Just maybe don’t try climbing any Christmas tree you find because I’m sure that’s not going to end well for you.

  Most Cozy: Laid Back Camp - “Christmas Camp!”

    Honestly, camping out for Christmas doesn’t sound like a bad idea, if the weather permits. Rin, Nadeshiko, and the rest of the girls from the club do exactly this and get to all sorts of camping activities such as playing with a dog, eat sukiyaki, and mess with their teacher. What a fun and cozy way to spend the holidays! Plus, we get to see that Rin is truly beginning to come around on the idea of group camping, compared to where she was in the beginning of the series as a solo camper. Certainly, if you need an episode to give you a nice and cozy feeling during this holiday season, this is one you should be adding to your playlists.

EVENT REPORT ~Cosplay Mania Panel featuring Koutarou Nishiyama and Wataru Hatano

It's no secret about the freaking long line in Cosplay Mania just to get in. What really fuel us to get in was seeing Koutarou Nishiyama and Wataru Hatano. After 2hrs of long lines, we managed to get inside the venue.

The panel was scheduled to start at 3pm so my friend and  I prepared ourselves for the battle ahead. Hall SP strictly follows no recording and photo rule. We agreed to do take note of keywords and jot down everything after the session. It took us the whole night to relive everything because we are still hanged up how fun and awesome the panel was. We want to share this with everyone. This transcript is not exact and the English translation is based on the host's and translators' word but we hope that you enjoyed it.

The panel started exactly as scheduled and the host proceeded in advising everyone the house rules. The crowd was really excited to see the guests. After brief introduction of the voice actors' portrayed characters, Koutarou Nishiyama and Wataru Hatano entered the stage with their 2 interpreters.Both seiyuu were surprised with the warm welcome they received. Host asked the audience to keep the noise minimal so everyone can hear their answer for the interview.

1. How is your stay in the Philippines?  Wataru: it's our first time here in the Philippines. We  were brought to a lot of places by the staff and ate a lot of food. They also taught us how to say "Konnichiwa", it's "magandang hapon", also "masarap to". Kou-chan: "Jolibee", I love Jolibee! Wataru: We also ate that sweet pasta. Host: That's the Jolly Spaghetti! Wataru: Also, the chicken. We put the gravy on the rice. Delicious! Kou-chan: yeah it's delicious! Wataru: We also learned what to say in the elevator: "Bababa" (everyone laughs) The accent is pretty much the same in Japanese. We also learned that "baba" is this. (points to chin). It's really interesting! 2. Do you eat other food aside Jolibee? Filipino cuisine, maybe? Wataru: We ate that soup. Host: What soup? Wataru: What's that again? Kou-chan: What's it name again? Hmm Wataru: "SINIGANG"! Host: How was sinigang? Wataru: We ate shrimp sinigang. EBI SINIGANG, DELICIOUS! (everyone laughs) Host: Any other food? What is your favorite? Wataru: "Pansitto" (Pansit) Yakisoba! Kou-chan: Yakisoba! Mecha Mecha masarap, ne? (everyone laughs) 3. What's your mental image of the Philippines before actually coming here? Kou-chan: I believe it's a very warm country where the food is delicious and there are many fruits. Host: What fruits did you try? Wataru: What we ate yesterday. Kou-chan: Mango, Banana Wataru: Banana masarap to. Mecha mecha masarap! Kou-chan: We ate a lot of food for 2 days and it's really delicious. The taste is similar to Japanese dishes. 4. On how they were welcomed here in the Philippines Wataru: It's our first time here and you welcome us like this. We would like to do more event here. Host: Would you comeback here in the Philippines? Wataru: I will come back here. Kou-chan: We will come back here. Salamat po! 5. Why did you chose to be a voice actor? Wataru: I never given it a thought. It similar to anyone who likes cosplay. When I was little, I really like Laputa, the Ghibli movie and I want to be Pazu. So, being a voice actor is really my life goal. Kou-chan: really? (laugh) Wataru: It's your turn now! Kou-chan: My middle school friends invited me to do the voice acting job. I find it so fun so I just continued doing it.  Wataru: We are completely opposites! My reason is very serious and yours is not. (laugh) Kou-chan: That's not true! 6. How did you become a voice actor? Wataru: How was it again? hmmm. I never had any experience until 18 years old. In school, I never joined the theater club because they stand on the ground and did this really weird thing to rehearse the words. I was really embrassed to do that, so I never did any acting. (Wataru queues the translator to do the same shouting reneactment he did. LOL everyone is laughing) Translator: It is really embarassing! Kou-chan: She was traumatized! (laugh) Wataru: I went to Tokyo when I was 18 to study being a voice actor and I had a lot of coaches. I was 21 when I got my first job so it was really a short time to study. Kou-chan: How was it again? hmmm I just smiled and keep everyone smiling and I can't stop being a voice actor right now. I just realized that I was alreay doing a lot of voice acting job, I did all the auditions I can get. Wataru: Koutarou just suddenly appeared! 7. Challenges you have as a voice actor Wataru: There's a lot of challenges for me. For a voice actor, there is this wall of challenges. There is no specific challenges I can say right now, it's all walls in front of me Kou-chan: The challenges are very similar with Wataru-san. But for me, the number one challenge for me is during auditions, where I always want to get everyone's attention to get the role. Wataru: To get a role, we actually have to get into auditions and to get one role, it's not just 1 audition, you have to do a lot of it. It's like the cosplay tournament. Before you get to the national championship, you have to get through the regional championship and do cosplay tournaments all year around.

8. Which character do find most challenging to voice act? Kou-chan: Which one is it? hmm Host: Who do you think, everyone? (Audience shouting different name of the characters they did) Wataru: Idolish 7? I played Gaku in the game. (He did a line in Gaku's voice) Kou-chan: I voiced Minami Natsume in the game (He did a line in Natsume's voice) Wataru: Good. Host: (laughing hard) Did you just understand what he said? He said he just farted! (everyone laughing). Wataru: Every character is difficult. Remember my character in Kuroko no Basuke? When I was in school, I played a lot of basketball when we heard that Philippines like basketball as well, we felt close. In Kuroko no Basuke, you know that in basketball, shooting only takes a few seconds, right? But in the anime, when they shoot, they float and speak their lines. It was very difficult. (Everyone is laughing so hard because Wataru is demonstrating the difference between real life shooting vs anime shooting while the translator is speaking) Kou-chan: For every character I play, they are different and difficult. The most memorable character that I played is, do you guys know Binan Koukou? I played the main character, Atsushi. I was very nervous when I was recording. 9. Advice for those who want to be a voice actor Wataru: Who wants to be a voice actor here? (audience raising hands) In the first voice actor event that I attended, they asked who wants to be a voice actor as well and I raised my hand. Whatever people tell you, as long as you do your best, you can become what ever you want, like what I am today. After the host questions, fan questions were asked. They were asked how being a voice actor changed their life? Wataru-san said that being a voice actor is his life goal and being one is like reaching his dream little by little. As for Koutarou-san, being able to meet a lot of people from different places is very cool. They were also asked what will be their job if they are not voice actors? Someone shouted "idol". Wataru was like: really, idol? But for him, he can't think of another job because he wants to be a voice actor since he was little. For Koutarou-san, everyone is cheering "Actor". Koutarou is like "do you want me to be an idol?". He said that during elementary school he wanted to be a baker and make delicious bread for his mother. The host asked: "Do you want to eat his bread?" (LOL) and everyone is shouting "TABETAI! TABETAI!" (LOL). Both voice actors were asked if they can make an otome game, what would it be? Wataru said that he will make an seiyuu-otome game, in VR and his main character will be Koutarou-san. Kou-chan said that his voice will be Wataru's. Wataru acted out what he called "the Ending" of the game and said "Mahal Kita", then it was Koutarou's turn and said "Bababa ba?" (lol) The host also asked them to read the fansigns and gave out flying kisses to everyone and as expect, everyone went wild! The host also asked if there are fans from other countries. There were fans from Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. They were really surprised that they have fan outside their own country and really thankful about it. Wataru said they have no idea how foreigners receive their characters and they are very grateful for those who went to see them. 

After that, the raffle for the 10 winners of shikishi board happened. Both voice actors drawn the 10 winners and we are just glad that the Japanese fan was one of the winner! When the raffle was done, both guests and audience played "Pinoy Henyo". They need to ask the audience if it's yes, no and maybe. What's awesome about this game was it was the way to surprise Koutarou. The last word to be guessed is "cake" and Wataru's clue for him was "you are eating this since you were born". Surprisingly, Kou-chan answered "Blueberry cheese cake" in a cute way and Wataru said it's too specific, so Kou-chan said "cake" and the host announced that a cake was fit for the celebration and since it is October, it is Koutarou's birth month! A staff brought out the cake and everyone sang happy birthday. He was really touched and surprised with the gesture and told everyone "Mahal ko kayo!" The panel ended with a group photo with the audience and fans still screaming for more. 

To be short, Wataru was on fire and Kou-chan was laughing so hard and was touched with the surprise. The crowd surely had tons of fun. I hope we get to see more of this voice actor panels in the future.

Precure Movie “Reincarnations”

With KiraPre’s coming out in a little under two months (second cue to start anticipating next season), I thought I’d go through all the ones I’ve watched so far to see how many seiyuus who starred in the movies ended up coming back to voice characters (main or supporting) in later seasons.

So there’s one rule to this: it has to go from movie –> tv anime. Hence the whole calling it a “reincarnations”…thing.

Left out the All Stars movies cuz I don’t want to deal with those.

Oh, and these are in order by the movies’ corresponding season.

1) Shadow (Yes! Precure 5 Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibouken) –> Syrup (Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!) {CV: Park Romi}

I’m pretty sure this is the strangest one on the list. But it’s the legendary Romi Park we’re talking about. She can voice anything.

So not so strange, I guess……no, it is. It’s quite bizarre just thinking these two even have one thing in common. xD;

2) Dark Dream (Yes! Precure 5 Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibouken) –> Aoki Reika/Cure Beauty (Smile Precure!) {CV: Nishimura Chinami}

By far, my most favorite “reincarnation”. I love Dark Dream so much as a villain and a baddy-turned-good. That she “returned” as the lovely and badass Cure Beauty… it just made me appreciate Cure Beauty even more.

And I always get so gleeful when their connection shows up in fanart, too. ^^

3) Dark Lemonade (Yes! Precure 5 Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibouken) –> Madoka Aguri/Cure Ace (Doki Doki! Precure) {CV: Kugimiya Rie}

Can’t say I’m surprised that Rie Kugimiya came back. Even less surprised that she’d be voicing a Cure because she is a famous veteran.

What I didn’t expect was getting two variations of her voice in one character. Which isn’t a bad thing. I like Cure Ace’s voice. More than Aguri’s/Dark Lemonade’s anyway.

4) Dark Mint (Yes! Precure 5 Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibouken) –> Flora (Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!) {CV: Minaguchi Yuko}

Not surprised here either.

I don’t have much to say about this one. Yuko Minaguchi was the voice behind Hotaru/Sailor Saturn from the first SM series, after all. So whether she’s playing an antagonist or a holy-goddess-like figure, she always makes it sound so natural. And her voice is so pretty. She’s so gifted. ^^

5) Princess Chocola (Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!: Okashi no Kuni no Happy Birthday!) –> Chypre (Heartcatch Precure!) {CV: Kawata Taeko}

I’m very fond of this one because I love both of them. <3

It actually took me a while to realize Chocola had the same voice as Chypre (cuz I watched Heartcatch before I watched Yes!5) and when I did I was like “Ohhhh……”

Anyways, it’s nice that a cute character came back as another cute character. Only a very few on this list kept that consistency.

6) Dry (Yes! PreCure 5 GoGo!: Okashi no Kuni no Happy Birthday!) –> Cologne (Heartcatch Precure!) {CV: Ishida Akira}

Let’s just go with the fact that none of these surprise me, lol.

I’m always going to be expecting the veteran seiyuus to show up sooner or later, movie-exclusive or not.

7) Toymajin (true form) (Fresh PreCure!: Omocha no Kuni wa Himitsu ga Ippai?!) –> Hanasaki Kaoruko/Cure Flower (Heartcatch Precure!) {CV: Sakamoto Chika}

I don’t even remember if teddy!Toymajin ever talked at all but according to MAL, he did.

*shrug*

To be honest, what really surprised me (lol, yea, I spoke too soon \D;) was running into Chika Sakamoto again. I remember her fondly as the memorable voice for Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi. To the mahou shoujo community, you’ll probably recognize her as the voice for Yaten Kou/Sailor Star Healer from Sailor Moon Stars.

8) Olivier (Heartcatch Precure!:  Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show…Desu ka?!) –> Candy (Smile Precure!) {CV: Otani Ikue}

P-I-K-A-C-H-UUUU~!!!

Ok, but seriously, I really loved Olivier so when I think of this, I can’t help but feel there’s been a bit of a downgrade. There’s nothing wrong with Candy. It’s just that I think of her more strongly as a mascot than as a character, that’s all.

9) Howling (Suite Precure♪: Torimodose! Kokoro ga Tsunagu Kiseki no Melody!) –> Emperor Pierrot (Smile Precure!) {CV: Genda Tesshou}

Apparently.

Almost all of Precure’s Big Bad Bosses sound the same to me. I really can’t tell the difference.

10) Flat (Suite Precure♪: Torimodose! Kokoro ga Tsunagu Kiseki no Melody!) –> Close (Go! Princess Precure) {CV: Madono Mitsuaki}

Second case where the villain comes back as another villain.

Close is hard to forget (because he’s so annoying) but Flat barely had any character to him that if I didn’t look him up, I wouldn’t be able to tell who’s who in the Trio de Major.

11) Dog (Smile Precure!: Ehon no Naka wa Minna no Chiguhagu!) –> Puff (Go! Princess Precure) {CV: Toyama Nao}

This shouldn’t even be on the list but it’s so amusing that I just had to. Does it literally, right next to Nao Toyama’s name, say “Dog” in the movie credits? xD;

Well, unlike the others who do sport noticeable differences between them, there’s hardly any for these two. That one just got upgraded to a cute maid three years later.

12) Momotaro (Smile Precure!: Ehon no Naka wa Minna no Chiguhagu!) –> Aihara Yuuki (Go! Princess Precure) {CV: Abe Atsushi}

Alright, this can actually be a real reincarnation. I mean, they look alike! They even seem to have similar temperaments!

…Or is that just me?

13) Purple Buggy (Doki Doki! Precure: Mana Kekkon?!! Mirai ni Tsunagu Kibou no Dress) –> Glaive (Kira Kira Precure a la Mode) {CV: Egawa Hisao}

Hey hey~! Somebody from the current season!

But the more important question…when is Glaive going to be relevant in KiraPre again? ^^;

14) Orihara Tsumugi (Happiness Charge Precure!: Ningyou no Kuni no Ballerina) –> Izayoi Riko/Cure Magical (Mahou Tsukai Precure!) {CV: Horie Yui}

Easily my second most favorite of this bunch and frankly, there’s no need to go into extensive explanation about it. HaCha’s movie wouldn’t have been half as interesting without Tsumugi.

Then, bless our luck, we get to hear Hocchan again! Not only as an MC but also as an adorable tsundere! Riko~!!! X3

Man, I really love it when they come back as a Cure. The tones are obviously going to be different between a role they voiced in the movie and a role they voice in the tv series but it’s fun observing just how different they are, y’know? The key is really the acting, yup. ^^

15) Princess Pumplulu (Go! Princess Precure: Go! Go!! Gouka Sanbon Date!!!) –> ??? {CV: Hanazawa Kana}

I can say with confidence that a good percentage of us is waiting on bated breath for the day when Kana-chan will finally be assigned a Precure title. And it’s going to happen, I tell you. IT MUST.

I don’t care if they make her one of the first regular Cures or a latecomer Cure as long as she is a one of the main Cures. Because wtf, Go!Pri’s movie was one the most unfavorite things I’ve ever came across in this franchise that I need to be compensated for sitting through it! If they didn’t split it into three parts, I think we could’ve gotten a hell of a better story.

Especially on Pumplulu’s part. She had such a nice personality and her character had so much potential for expansion. Like, oh I dunno, turning her into a movie-exclusive Cure maybe?! Because technically, a lot of that movie should’ve been about her. AND she had all the qualifications to become Precure. She’s kind and beautiful and strong enough to resist the bad guy from brainwashing her (which is why he had to lock her up because he couldn’t use her like he did with her parents)!

Why wasn’t she made a Cure?! Why’d we have to focus on Haruka dancing around making pudding and CGI stuff I don’t care about?!

*rants for the next few hours*

Not to mention, @rona67th‘s gorgeous fanart of her in Cure form and Mode Elegant just makes me want it to be official even more! *sobs* I’d die to see that animated. I’d give up all the others’ Mode Elegant Halloween forms just for Pumplulu to be made a real Cure. T_T

Well, there’s still that hope that HanaKana will be cast in one of the seasons after KiraPre is finished. I’m actually glad she wasn’t put in KiraPre. I need a season with a deeper concept and theme and overall, stronger story for any role she plays. Because it’s HanaKana and I love her so obviously I would want her to get the roles with the better everything. <3

And that’s it, I suppose. Anyone I missed, feel free to add. Though I’m pretty sure I covered all the major ones.

Guess I’ll do this again when the 2nd Precure Generation is over.

Oda and Dazai!

So this got…… kinda long… and probably strayed from the ask meme and is more of like a character study lmao whoOPS I’m so sorry. But thank you for the ask xD

Character Writing Meme

Oda

So in canon, Oda never smiles, like ever; he definitely has a broad array of emotions, for sure, but he doesn’t let either positive or negative ones outwardly show very much except in extreme situations ahaha. But it’s natural instinct for me to describe characters as smiling softly/a little bit, or frowning or whatnot, so I can’t help but write Oda like that as well, because I feel like writing him would get boring quickly if his expressions were never described like I do for others and if he wasn’t the pov character where you had his inner thoughts/emotions to make up for that (the original Dark Era novel is in his point of view, and it really helps you to get into his thoughts/emotions, some of which the anime carried over, so that makes his rarely-changing expression not as bothersome). I try to remind myself to keep it as lowkey as possible though (again, talking about fics not in his pov); he probably realistically has to smile sometimes, but I make sure never to overdo it and to keep that sort of amusingly nonchalant/unfazed outward personality Oda has at the same time.

When around Dazai, Oda is pretty much the only person who will let him go off on one of his crazy, dramatic, depressing tangents about life/death and wanting to die and all that, deal with that loopiness that is Dazai. In other words, he won’t ignore him or admonish him for acting like that, which nearly everyone else in the series who Dazai interacts with does. The only time Oda will interfere is if Dazai is directly putting himself in a harmful situation, but when he’s just talking, he’ll let him get it all out. I haven’t actually written much involving this aspect of him, but this is important about Oda when he and Dazai are together, that Oda lets Dazai be himself and lets him get out all his extremely negative emotions instead of forcing him to bottle them up even more, which is a good thing for Dazai to have. In this way, Oda understands Dazai better than anyone else in the entire series, but the key is that he isn’t aware how much he does (because Oda is so damn humble), and so Oda never takes further steps to help out Dazai, as good as letting him talk things out is. In short, Oda cares about Dazai (most likely his fatherly instincts showing through) and worries about him unconsciously, and is content to let Dazai be his strange self when he’s with him, letting him do his thing as long as he’s not actually harming himself, which is why they get along so well… but at the same time Oda will never try to actively play counselor/therapist with Dazai to attempt to help him more permanently, because he doesn’t think he can/isn’t brave enough to/just doesn’t really think to do so. Which leads me to…

…Oda is selfish to a degree, because he’s human, and selfishness is human nature. I’m only really talking about the situation with the kids, though. Canonically, after the kids were killed, Oda went on a suicide mission for the sake of revenge for the kids, abandoning Dazai, who still desperately needed and wanted him, and throwing aside any small chance of building a happy life back up for himself and eventually getting away from the mafia and fulfilling his dream of becoming a writer, and possibly taking Dazai with him and making him happier than he is now at the ADA. In that moment, all logic shut down inside of him, and he acted on his instincts, knowing he was going to die, all because he felt like he didn’t care about anything anymore, for revenge that was more for himself than the kids who didn’t even know they were being avenged, obviously. Of course I’m not entirely blaming Oda or trying to intentionally shit on him (I love him lmao), and his mental state then is completely understandable, but it still stands that he acted on selfish motives when he did what he did and got himself killed from it. He made a huge mistake leaving Dazai behind, breaking his heart and taking his best friend in the world away from him, and I’m sure Oda realized that once Dazai showed up, realized that there was so much he still needed to do for Dazai that he never had done and never could anymore then, and realized how much it hurt him too because of how much he truly cared about Dazai. When I wrote his death scene from his own pov, that’s what I wanted to show, him realizing how selfish he had been by doing this to Dazai. Because as much as Oda loves Dazai, he loves those kids more, not only because of just him loving kids in general, but also because taking care of those kids in particular he associates directly with his own “redemption” from his previous life as an assassin, so once they’re killed, he decides that everything is over, gives up, because their deaths mean that he failed in trying to turn over a new leaf, so he goes back to killing and decides to end it all, forgetting Dazai completely. Again, I’m not blaming his mentality, not blaming Oda for being so human, but that’s basically what happened, and it was selfish. So writing anything post-bombing, I think about this a lot; Oda is a genuinely kind and loving person, there’s no doubt about it, and he wants only the best for Dazai and the kids for their own sakes, but at the same time, if he feels like his morals/beliefs are trampled on/destroyed in any way so that he can’t uphold them anymore, he’s just done, and nothing else and no one else matters in his mind anymore. Dazai never would have been “saved” by his last words if he hadn’t approached Oda himself, and as good as the ADA is for him, he would be much better there with his best friend who understands him the most, if Oda hadn’t decided to get himself offed instead.

Dazai

First and most obviously, Dazai rarely ever lets himself show any part of his emotional side. If anyone tries to question his behavior or things he says worryingly/shows concern for him, he’ll try to brush it off with some lie about him daydreaming about a creative suicide or something. He’s worse about this overdramatic goofiness in ADA-era, despite being in a better setting, because he was more inclined to get gloomier/more depressing/deeper into his bleak mind with Oda, who didn’t mind any of his behavior. Imo Dazai is of the opinion that no one in the ADA really cares about what’s going on in his mind/his emotions like Oda did, which unfortunately most of them give the impression of (even if they don’t mean it, they really need to get better about it… looking at u, Kunikida), so he acts even more over-the-top in order to annoy them even more, so there’s even less of a chance for them to worry about him, ever. He’s not comfortable sharing how he really feels with anyone anymore, so he makes sure no one ever wants to ask or wonder (”oh it’s just Dazai being Dazai, as usual”). That being said…

I’m sure there are days when he’s worse, and it’s a lot harder for him to hide it in the ADA. Atsushi obviously is most likely the only person he will ever let himself be somewhat vulnerable around now, and Atsushi will try to help him but not push him too much. So Dazai might share some things, but not too much; probably not until he and Atsushi have been with each other for a long time. Obviously, anything to do with Oda will make it hard for Dazai to retain his goofy facade, particularly Oda’s birthday and the anniversary of his death, among other, random days.

Realted to the above, Dazai never cries imo; the most he will ever allow himself is for his eyes to get barely heated or watery, and of course only when he’s alone. The only time I believe he ever full-on cried was after Oda’s death.

To Dazai, Atsushi represents Oda’s legacy, and in some ways he tries to guide Atsushi in the way that he felt like Oda guided his kids, although I’m sure that he knows he isn’t nearly as good enough for that as Oda was. But Atsushi is definitely extremely important to Dazai for so many reasons, and I’m sure he would definitely do anything to keep him safe, and genuinely be terrified if he was in serious danger.

I believe that Dazai respects Kunikida highly despite how much he trolls him, because Kunikida is basically a mix of Oda and Ango, personality-wise and morals-wise. Behind Atsushi, he’s the person Dazai cares about the most in the present time, as much as he doesn’t show it.

Similarly, imo Dazai highly respects Fukuzawa for how he runs the ADA, and for his morals and how welcoming he is to new members, which, surprise surprise, probably also reminds Dazai of Oda. But there’s another component to it, and that is how Fukuzawa is versus how Dazai’s old boss, Mori, was. It’s obvious that Mori was emotionally and mentally abusive and very unhealthy for Dazai, but I don’t think Dazai himself really felt that horror until Mori “betrayed” him by setting things up so that Oda would be led into death, and then refused to help save his life; Fukuzawa, on the other hand, values every single life of his subordinates, whereas Mori would gladly sacrifice anyone for the sake of the entire organization (and himself), and I think that difference is something that was foreign to Dazai and hard for him to trust at first, but is now something he wholeheartedly appreciates and respects about Fukuzawa. That’s my headcanon, at least, and something I think about with those two (and thinking in general about other major differences in how the ADA operates versus what Dazai just took for granted in the mafia, and how little things might still take him off-guard in the ADA even now).
