Chapter 23: History of Port Town

When they had freshened themselves up, filled their stomachs with pork, rice and salad, and the crescent moon was painted on a starry canvas, Makoto and Haruka went to the genkan to put their shoes on. Although it was too dark out to get a proper tour of the whole town, Makoto wanted to show him around a bit now the day had passed and the streets were quiet.

The twins whined about wanting to come, but their parents shut them down quickly. While Haruka was growing rather fond of them, he was glad to be alone with Makoto. He’d been looking forward to strolling around Iwatobi and absorbing everything this quaint town had to offer for weeks now and he wanted to enjoy it to its fullest. He even packed his sketchbook so he could capture every brick and pole, every woodchip that made this the special place it was.

Happy Birthday Nagisa! October 10th is the birthday of Misumi Nagisa, aka Cure Black from the original Futari wa Precure series.

Nagisa's charm is that she is an ordinary girl. She doesn't do well in school, but she excels at sports, and has lots of friends. She has a good relationship with her family, even if they annoy each other sometimes, and she especially loves chocolate. She complains a lot, but she doesn't hesitate to do the right thing, and when she becomes a superhero, she rises to the task without a second thought.

I had started work on this post on her actual birthday as usual, gathering all the artwork, but I found another comic like the one I posted on Honoka's last birthday, and was going to translate that. I've been sitting on it and just.... no longer want to post it. I don't think it fits the occasion or the characters. But you can look at it here and draw your own conclusions. Once they put away their mugs, they left the airport. Haruka grabbed the handle of the suitcase and the bouquet, Makoto his mom’s carry-on bag and purse, while Mrs. Tachibana took charge of the wheelchair.

“It’s been about fifteen years since I pushed you like this,” she said as they made their way towards the train station, “It was a lot easier back then.”

“Fifteen years and sixty kilos ago,” Makoto said with an amused huff.

“Do you want me to take over?” Haruka asked. Fading bruises aside, pushing Makoto was hard on him, let alone on someone half a head shorter than him.

“It’s alright, I can handle it,” she said, “This is kind of nostalgic, isn’t it?”
