walker really wasn't lying when he said that percy was a double edged sword and every side of him had an opposite side too. there are times percy acts very slow, and some times he is the most brilliant strategist in the series. there are times when he cannot understand the other persons feelings, but there are times when he is the most emotionally intelligent character ever (like when he figured out the core dynamics of the legion members by one session and he was the only one in cotg to not lose his maturity when he turned seven). there are times when hes a humble and nice person, but there are times when he lashes out out of short temper. there are times when there are also times when he's acts like a giggly teenage girl dreaming about his kids, and there are also times when he's the most pessimistic bitter person with the whole 'im going to die in a few days, so what?' attitude. percy jackson really is a double edged sword

if i have to see one more person say that the show downgraded gabe from being abusive to just bad im gonna get my head stuck through a wall out of frustration. sally had to ask him permission to leave her own home with a car she probably pays for as the only person with income. our first impression is him being verbally abusive to a repair person. percy has to brace himself before going inside because he knows it's not safe in HIS own home. gabe ANSWERS SALLYS PHONE WITHOUT HER PERMISSION. he only backs down from making fun of percy when he finds out he was kicked out of school for violence- he's almost impressed. we didnt see gabe physically assault anyone but we have a whole season left to see him go on public tv and frame his own stepson for murder. please please understand that sally yelling back at her abuser does not make him any less abusive or mean he has any less power over her

can confirm, at the very first percabeth hug i was contorted on my couch yelling “NOBODY MOVE NOBODY BREATHE HISTORY IS HAPPENING” while my poor parents stared, slightly horrified at the effect that this tv show has on their 20 year old daughter

one more in the list of unrealistic things in the lightning thief movie was grover talking about annabeth like "that's annabeth chase 😨 she will smash you like a bug 😶‍🌫️🫨" like NO!!! grover has known annabeth since she was a little 7 year old gremlin on the streets. shes practically his sister. if grover had to describe or introduce annabeth he'd be like "oh that's annabeth 🥰 she's a little intense but she's a sweetheart once you get to know her" like some owner of an aggressive little chihuahua.
