The bus stop was a battleground for the Enha and Fifty-forty volleyball teams, though it seemed the conflict was more about claiming over the street than any real animosity. The two schools, only a short distance apart, could have easily shared the cramped space and the same bus, but instead, they faced off across the street, each side glaring at the other.
On one side stood the Enha students in their black and red uniforms; on the other, the Fifty-forty students in their bright yellow and white. In the middle of this colorful divide, two students sat close together on the sidewalk, a contrast to the tension around them. Kim Sunoo, in his Enha black, leaned his head on Shin M/n's shoulder, who wore the Fifty-forty yellow.
They were the bestfriends despite their schools' rivalry, and of course, everyone hated that. Always going out, studying together, and even leaving matches together after the Fifty-forty team absolutely decimates the Enhas. Sunoo didn't seem to care though. He claims to just be playing for fun but everyone knows he only joined so he could see M/n sweaty up close.
Sunoo was the Enha team's middle blocker, and had a knack for making the least glamorous position look effortless. His sister, however, was not a fan of his mingling with the Fifty-forty crowd, especially after the last night's game.
"Yah, Kim Sunoo!" His sister's voice cut through the tension. Sunoo lifted his head with a start, and M/n's eyes flashed with a brief, he swore he saw a flash of disgust in her coffee-brown eyes.
Turning to M/n with an apologetic pout, Sunoo said, "Sorry, she's got this thing about us hanging around Fifty-forty after... well, last night."
M/n chuckled, placing a comforting hand on Sunoo's thigh. "Don't worry about it. I'll see you tonight at the party."
With a reassuring smile, Sunoo headed towards his sister, who quickly grabbed his arm and pulled him away. M/n dusted off his slacks, exchanging a grin with Wonbin, who had approached.
"I don't get why you hang out with him. Are you pinning him or something?" Wonbin asked, curiosity piqued.
M/n shook his head, a playful smile on his lips. "Oh no, Wonbin. My pin is already stuck deep into someone else." He nodded toward Park Sunghoon, who stood across the street, glaring back with a brooding expression
🏐
The bus ride to the schools was chaotic. Some students had to push up together in the seats and there was endless bickering. One of these days a full blown out brawl is going to happen.
After school, Sunghoon, perched atop a cafeteria table, stared at his phone, figuring out the best way he could tell his teammate they were in a crisis.
caphoon. We need to have a serious convo. Meeting in 5 mins
noonoo. de there soon!!!
heeso. Gimme 10, gotta do something first
caphoon. This is important
heeso. I get that but I can't be there right this moment, Sung
caphoon. Wth is more important?
j. def just saw him and Jake walk in the bathroom together lol
nik. yucky
Sunghoon groaned aloud. Things were a mess with their team. Morale was at an all-time low, and some members were starting to lose interest in volleyball altogether. Some had found distractions in each other, and others just didn't care anymore. Senior year was supposed to be their year to shine, but volleyball wasn't even the focus now. The cracks were starting to show, and it was making Sunghoon anxious.
"Captain~"
Sunghoon whipped his head around to see Jungwon and Sunoo heading into the empty cafeteria, throwing their bags onto a nearby table. Jungwon, always perceptive, immediately noticed the tension in Sunghoon's posture and placed a hand on his shoulder, the gesture both comforting and grounding.
"You alright, Hoon?" Jungwon asked, his voice soft but filled with concern.
Sunghoon took a deep breath and leaned his back onto the table. "I don't know. This team... it's falling apart. I just... I don't know how to fix it." He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck, feeling the weight of responsibility pressing down on him.
Sunoo, now kneeled on top of the table with his hands in his lap next to Sunghoon, head hanging over his own, his usual playful demeanor replaced by something more serious. "Whatever it is don't stress, we got it."
Sunghoon was lost in thought when the sound of approaching footsteps caught his attention. He looked up just as Jay and Niki strolled into the cafeteria, their usual carefree attitudes contrasting with the serious atmosphere. Jay, with his ever-present smirk, tossed a glance toward Sunghoon and gave a quick nod before flopping down onto an empty seat. Niki, a little more worried, followed, but his eyes quickly flickered over to the group, sensing the tension.
"What's going on?" Niki asked, his voice dripping with concern.
Jay tilted his head, eyeing Sunghoon's furrowed brows and the way his fingers drummed on the table. "This isn't gonna be good." He said quietly, his voice uncharacteristically serious.
Sunghoon sighed, his shoulders sagging under the weight of the conversation he'd been avoiding. "People are dropping out, losing focus, doing... other things. We can't even get everyone to show up on time now." He leaned back and looked at his friends, his eyes tired. "We've got a lot to fix, but I'm not sure where to start."
Jay threw his legs up onto the chair, relaxing as he leaned back with an exaggerated sigh. "Sounds like typical senior year shit. People get distracted, forget what matters." He shrugged his shoulders. "We can't let the whole team go down in the shits though. We have a reputation to uphold and a serious ass whooping."
Niki didn't seem to find Jay's usual nonchalance comforting. He narrowed his eyes at Sunghoon. "We will listen if you tell us what we can do."
Sunghoon was about to ease into the momentary relief when the seriousness of the situation hit him once again. He cleared his throat, gathering the attention of the group. "That's not all," he started, his tone more solemn. "We're at risk of being kicked out of the league if we don't find an 8th member soon."
The room went silent at his words. Jungwon's hand paused on Sunghoon's shoulder, and even Jay stopped smirking, the weight of Sunghoon's words settling on the table.
"We need a full roster to keep competing. If we can't get someone on the team before the next match, they'll pull us from the league," Sunghoon explained, his voice low but serious. "That's the reality. If we don't act fast, all of this... all the effort we've put into this year, gone."
The group exchanged glances, a sense of urgency creeping into the air. Niki broke the silence, his usual joking demeanor replaced with determination. "So we find someone. Fast."
Jay leaned forward, his brow furrowing in thought. "We've got options. Maybe we can recruit someone from outside the team?"
Before Sunghoon could respond, the door to the cafeteria swung open, and in walked Jake and Heesung, their appearances anything but typical. Their uniforms were disheveled, hair a mess, and both of them were trying, rather unsuccessfully, to act casual as they walked toward the table.
Hickeys, Heesung's lip gloss all over Jake's face, Jake's fly unzipped. It wasn't hard to tell where they'd just been.
Sunghoon shot them an exasperated look, one eyebrow raised as Heesung tried to smooth his shirt, but the wrinkles from their activities was way too obvious. Jake was the first to speak, though his tone was unusually high-pitched for someone trying to play it cool. "What's going all. Why does everyone look pissed?"
Niki, trying to suppress his grin, shot them a look. "Oh, you know, just a conversation about how you two might be the reason our team is going to shit."
Jake chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. "We were just... uh... tutoring."
Sunghoon exhaled through his nose, holding his head in his hands. "I can't believe you two right now." His frustration was evident, but his gaze softened as he met their eyes. "Do you know how close we are to getting kicked out of the league?"
Heesung, looking a little guilty, spoke up, his voice apologetic. "We know, Hoon. We were just... needed a moment to—"
"To fuck?" Sunghoon interrupted, his voice rising just slightly. "I'm trying to figure out how we're gonna make it to nationals and to can't keep your hands to yourself. And a bathroom? Seriously? Have some fucking decorum. Lee Heesung. Whore looks really bad on you."
Jay leaned back in his chair, his grin finally showing as he sung, "Someone needs to get laid..."
Niki lightly shoved Jay and spoke up. "We're on the verge of losing the team if we can't find someone to fill that 8th spot. Hyung, we really can't afford any distractions."
Heesung and Jake exchanged a quick look, the weight of the situation finally setting in. Heesung sighed, his usual cheeky grin faltering. "You're right. We can do better. We'll do better."
Jake straightened up, "We get it now... and we'll do what it takes to help fix this."
Sunghoon gave a sharp nod, his frustration still simmering beneath the surface, but the understanding in his teammates' eyes was enough to cool his temper. "Alright, we need to focus. We're a team, and we're gonna get through this. We find that 8th player, or we find a way to make it work with who we've got. No more distractions."
The group nodded in unison, the weight of their captain's words sinking in. For the first time that afternoon, Sunghoon felt like maybe, just maybe, they were ready to face whatever came next.

Luve5040 FIFITY-FORTY IS 8 STOP PLAYING
Enhadreamin Enhypen could never. I've been saying M/n is a cheater. He targets Sunghoon every game. He's a loser, guys, BLOCK HIS ASS.
🏐
Sunghoon shuffled his foot over a rock, his cherry-colored lips pressed into a pout. He'd been standing outside the event house for a few minutes now, mentally bracing himself.
Parties weren't his scene, especially not a Fifty-Forty party. He'd heard about these events: the PTA's presence for the first hour, then their departure to lounge on graham crackers and pizza. Twenty minutes later, the real party began. That's when the booze flowed, drugs made their rounds, and girls were whisked away upstairs by guys who wanted to hump on the gross, deteriorating couches.
Sunghoon wanted nothing to do with any of that, but he'd promised his team he'd do whatever it took to keep them together. So, he swallowed his discomfort and decided to brave it for the Enha team tonight. He kicked his "purity rock" aside and approached the event house doors, where a few people lounged on the banister.
Taking a deep breath-one, two, three-he walked inside. The moment he entered, his senses were overwhelmed. The air was thick with the stench of cologne and the sound of pop music marred by bleeped-out curse words. With every step, someone shouted his name or patted him on the back.
Stay cool, stay cool, he chanted in his head, forcing himself to relax as he responded with nods and brief greetings
Navigating through the crowd, he made his way to the main ballroom, scanning for someone who wouldn't demand more than a quick hello. Then he saw his teammate Jake and Heesung, the team's outside hitter and setter, respectively. They were also the only openly gay couple in the sports department, and they usually didn't shy away from flaunting it.
But tonight they were separated. They seemed talking about something intense because Heesung's hands flung around as he looked like he was trying to explain something to Jake he didn't really understand.
"Can I talk to you for a moment? Alone?" Heesung's tone was off, but he was quick to see Sunghoon and immediately request to be alone, suggesting something was bothering him. Sunghoon nodded, leading him to a quieter corner as he left Jake to drink a lone. As they walked away, he could feel the weight of the Fifty-Forty students' stares on them.
In the secluded corner, Heesung's usual carefree demeanor had vanished, replaced by a deep, concerned frown. His eyes were grave, and the tension in the air was palpable.
"Okay, what's going on?" Sunghoon asked, his voice barely above a whisper as he leaned in closer.
"There's something seriously wrong with Shin M/n," Heesung said, his tone heavy with urgency.
Sunghoon's head snapped up. "What do you mean?"
"There's a rumor," Heesung explained. "Coach Sian is M/n's father."
"Coach Sian?" Sunghoon asked in disbelief, struggling to process the information.
Heesung nodded. "Yeah. And right now, M/n is puking in the upstairs bathroom but everyone is too chicken shit to help!"
Sunghoon's shock was evident. "I don't understand. It's known M/n doesn't drink, that health detox bullshit. Why... why is he puking and why does the team sound guilty?"
Heesung's expression grew more somber. "They said it was reported Coach Sian spent a lot of money on Fifty-Forty freshman year. Nepo baby crap, I don't know but can you check on him? Jake is too squeamish and those shots are getting to my head."
"Fine."
Now, Sunghoon stood outside the bathroom door, trying to steady his breathing. He pushed it open slowly, the harsh fluorescent light casting a pale glow on the figure slumped near the toilet.
M/n was on his knees, his face pale, sweat clinging to the strands of hair on his forehead as he hunched over, gagging into the porcelain bowl. His ragged breaths filled the room, and Sunghoon could tell this wasn't just from too much alcohol, it was the kind of breakdown that came from something much deeper.
Sunghoon hesitated for a moment, glancing back at the hallway. He didn't like to give someone like M/n the day of light, but he didn't deserve whatever was going on.
"M/n?" Sunghoon finally spoke, crouching down beside him. "Hey, it's Sunghoon. You need some water or something?"
M/n groaned but didn't lift his head. "Don't... don't need help. Go away."
"Yeah, no," Sunghoon replied, his voice firm but calm. He reached for a towel hanging by the sink and ran it under cold water before gently pressing it against M/n's neck. "I'm not leaving you like this."
For a moment, M/n didn't respond, but eventually, his tense shoulders relaxed slightly under Sunghoon's steady presence.
"Why are you even here?" M/n croaked, his voice hoarse.
"Because Heesung and Jake found you like this and thought I'd know what to do," Sunghoon admitted with a small shrug. "And maybe because I'm the captain, and I'm supposed to care about people, even when they're from the other team."
M/n let out a bitter laugh, though it quickly dissolved into a cough. "Captain Sunghoon, the perfect golden boy. You must think I'm pathetic."
Sunghoon frowned, leaning back against the bathroom wall. "I don't think that at all," he said softly. "But I do think you need someone in your corner right now."
M/n finally lifted his head, his tired eyes meeting Sunghoon's in a gaze confused with comfort and terror. Before either of them could say more, the door burst open.
Wonbin stood there, his expression dark as his gaze flicked between M/n and Sunghoon. "What the hell are you doing in here?" he demanded, stepping into the small space.
"Trying to help him," Sunghoon replied, standing up to face him.
Wonbin ignored him, grabbing M/n's arm and yanking him to his feet. "You're coming with me. The team needs to talk to you."
M/n winced but didn't resist, his exhausted body too weak to fight back.
"Wait," Sunghoon said, stepping forward. "He's not in any shape to—"
"This isn't your business," Wonbin snapped, cutting him off. "Stay out of it."
Sunghoon clenched his fists but didn't argue as Wonbin dragged M/n out of the bathroom. He could hear M/n muttering protests, but they quickly faded into the noise of the party.
Gritting his teeth, Sunghoon stormed out of the bathroom and made a beeline for his teammates. Jungwon, Heesung, Jake, and Niki were gathered in a corner, watching him approach with concern.
"What happened?" Heesung asked, his brows furrowing.
"Wonbin took M/n," Sunghoon said, his voice tight with frustration. "Something's going on with their team, and it's bad. We need to do something."
Jungwon's eyes narrowed. "Do you think they'll hurt him?"
Sunghoon ran a hand through his hair, trying to think. "I don't know, but I'm not risking it. We're going to find him and make sure he's okay."
"This isn't right, we can't sit here and watch. Let's try... plan XO."
Heesung's eyes widened slightly. "Plan XO? Are you sure?"
Sunghoon's resolve hardened. "I may not like him, but I can't sit and watch him be roofied like this."
Sunghoon, Jay, and Heesung reached the bedroom door and exchanged a glance. The muffled sounds of yelling and the occasional thud sent a rush of adrenaline through Sunghoon. He placed a hand on the doorknob, nodding to his teammates.
"Go?" Jay whispered, his lips curling into a small smirk.
Sunghoon nodded. "Go."
With that, Sunghoon shoved the door open. The scene inside was worse than he'd expected. M/n was on his hands and knees, his face flushed and bruised, struggling to shield himself as one of the Fifty-Forty players hurled insults and threats, his fist raised. Anton, the captain of the Fifty-Forty team stood nearby, arms crossed, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
"Stop!" Sunghoon's voice boomed, freezing everyone in the room. All eyes turned toward him.
"Stay out of this, Sunghoon," Anton sneered. "This doesn't concern you."
"It does now," Sunghoon snapped, stepping further inside with Jay and Heesung flanking him. "You've crossed the line."
Wonbin took a step forward, his stance aggressive. "He's one of us. You don't get it, you-"
"He's a person," Sunghoon interrupted, his voice sharp. "And you don't get to treat him like this."
"You're outnumbered," one of the Fifty-Forty players said with a laugh.
' The room was thick with tension as Sunghoon stepped in, Jay and Heesung close behind him. M/n was crumpled against the far wall, his lip split and his breath ragged. Wonbin stood over him, his fists clenched, while three other Fifty-Forty teammates blocked the exit now.
"I told you to back off, Sunghoon," Anton growled. "This doesn't concern you."
Sunghoon's jaw tightened, his eyes darting to M/n. He was barely holding himself up, his gaze glassy. "It concerns me now," Sunghoon said firmly. "Get away from him."
Wonbin sneered and gestured to his teammates. "Take care of them."
The first guy lunged at Sunghoon, but Sunghoon was ready. He shifted his weight to his back foot and pivoted, delivering a front kick to the attacker's chest, sending him stumbling backward into a dresser.
The second guy charged in, throwing a sloppy punch. Sunghoon ducked, his movements fluid, and countered with a spinning hook kick that connected with the side of the guy's head. He crumpled to the floor, groaning.
Jay and Heesung handled the third teammate, keeping him occupied with a mix of grapples and strikes, while Sunghoon turned his attention to Anton.
Anton smirked, cracking his knuckles. "You think you're tough, huh?"
Sunghoon didn't respond. He simply raised his hands.
Anton swung a heavy punch, but Sunghoon sidestepped effortlessly, grabbing Anton's wrist and twisting it. With a swift motion, Sunghoon delivered a side kick to Anton's ribs, making him stagger back.
Enraged, Anton charged again, aiming a wild haymaker. Sunghoon ducked under it, spun, and unleashed a powerful spinning back kick to Anton's stomach. The impact sent him sprawling onto the floor, gasping for air.
Sunghoon stood over him, his breathing steady. "You're done," he said coldly.
He turned to Jay and Heesung, who had subdued the third teammate. "Help me get M/n out of here."
"Let's go," Sunghoon said, guiding him out of the room.
He guided M/n through the crowd, carefully avoiding the gaze of the Fifty-Forty students now fully engaged in the distraction Jake and Sunoo had orchestrated. They weaved through the crowd, and Sunghoon's heart pounded with both fear and determination.
Finally, they reached the back door, which led to a dimly lit alley behind the event house. Sunghoon pushed it open and ushered M/n outside. The cool night air was a sharp contrast to the stifling heat of the party inside.
M/n leaned against the wall, swaying slightly. "I don't understand. Why are we outside?"
Sunghoon looked around to ensure they weren't being followed. Satisfied, he turned back to M/n. "You were in danger. I don't know the full details, but it's clear your teammates were planning something tonight."
M/n's eyes softened with gratitude. "Thank you for getting me out. I knew...something was wrong."
Sunghoon took a deep breath, his own anxiety slowly ebbing away. "It's not safe to stay here. We should get you somewhere secure."
M/n nodded, but there was a lingering sadness in his eyes. "I don't know what to say. This is all so overwhelming."
Sunghoon's gaze softened as he stepped closer. He reached out, gently placing his hands on M/n's shoulders. "You don't have to say anything. Just know that you're safe."
For a moment, their eyes locked, and Sunghoon saw a flicker of something in M/n's gaze, a mixture of relief and vulnerability. Without thinking, he leaned in slightly, their faces mere inches apart.
M/n's breath hitched, and Sunghoon could feel the warmth radiating between them. His gaze flickered to M/n's lips, then back to his eyes.
But he stopped himself.
Clearing his throat, Sunghoon stepped back, his cheeks flushing. "Let's... let's get going."
M/n blinked, looking momentarily dazed before nodding. "Yeah. Okay."
🏐
The faint glow of the desk lamp cast long shadows across Sunghoon's room. He sat slouched at his desk, his elbows resting on the polished wood, his head cradled in his hands. His phone lay in front of him, M/n's name and number glowing softly on the screen. His thumb hovered over the call button, trembling with hesitation.
His mind was a whirlwind of emotions, replaying the events of the night.
The alley outside the party had been quiet except for the distant hum of traffic. M/n had leaned against the wall, his face pale, his lips slightly parted as he caught his breath. They had been so close. Too close.
Sunghoon had felt the tension crackle between them, his gaze locked onto M/n's. The moment stretched, heavy with unspoken words and emotions. He'd leaned in slightly, just enough to feel M/n's breath against his skin.
For a heartbeat, it seemed like their lips might meet. But Sunghoon had pulled back at the last second, his heart pounding so loudly he thought M/n could hear it.
The memory made his chest ache and his fingers curl into fists. What was wrong with him? Why would he do something like that?
A soft knock on the door jolted him out of his thoughts. Before he could answer, the door creaked open, and his dad stepped inside.
"Still awake?" his dad asked, his voice warm but tinged with concern. He leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed.
Sunghoon straightened in his chair, quickly locking his phone. "Yeah. Just... thinking."
His dad chuckled, stepping further into the room. "About the game? Or something else?"
Sunghoon hesitated, unsure how much he wanted to share. "A little bit of both."
His dad took a seat on the edge of the bed, studying him carefully. "You know, Sunghoon, I've noticed you've been a little... preoccupied lately. You can't find that 8th person can you?"
Sunghoon hesitated again, then sighed. "There's this guy. He might be a good fit, but he's got... a temper and such an awful way of life. He's damn good though, dad."
His dad nodded slowly, his expression thoughtful. "Sounds like he's a fit."
"I don't know about that," Sunghoon muttered. "I just... I feel like I need to do more. I can't settle for him, but he's so perfect."
His dad's lips curved into a small smile as Sunghoon gushed over M/n. "Bring him to my office Monday then."
Sunghoon blinked, taken aback by the suggestion. "You think I should invite him to join the team? After everything that's happened?"
His dad shrugged. "Why not? If he's as strong as you say he is, and if he means something to you, it might be the best thing for both of you. Just think about it." With that, his dad stood, patting Sunghoon's shoulder before heading toward the door. "You're a good kid, Sunghoon. Trust your instincts."
The door clicked shut, leaving Sunghoon alone with his thoughts once more. He stared at his phone, M/n's name still glowing on the screen.
caphoon Will you join my team?

1.8k words
You were a good kid.
Truthfully, Chun-ho expected you to be harder than you were. With Eomma dying shortly after your birth, Appa skipping town not long after and him just starting his mandatory conscription by the time you were left with Harabeoji, Lee Chun-ho expected you to be a lot more angry and disobedient when he returned to take you with him.
Kids who didn't have parents to discipline them often were, he'd heard.
But Harabeoji was, well, Harabeoji.
"I may be old, but don't forget I raised your Eomma," Harabeoji smiled, eyes warm as you shuffled at his side, eyes darting between the two men curiously.
You'd spent nearly your entire childhood with him–longer than Chun-ho had anticipated–but he'd been offered a more permanent role with the military, one that meant staying a lot longer to plan taking you in and raising you with military benefits, and Harabeoji hadn't minded your extended stay.
Chun-ho may have inherited your Eomma's face, but you had her mature and easy-going spirit.
Raising you was easy, Harabeoji told him whilst you packed, because you were a good kid. Something Chun-ho got to see for himself overtime. In your spare time you liked drawing, listening to lofi music and reading.
When you were with Chun-ho, you liked testing out new recipes for the two of you to try, asking him about anything interesting happening at the base and joining him to watch the sports movie he'd play after a long day, nestling into his side to watch, too.
You hated bean sprouts, horror movies and washing the dishes but didn't mind drying so long as the space between you was filled with idle chatter.
Of course, like any other siblings you two had your fair share of arguments, too.
Sometimes you played your music a little too long into the night. Chun-ho was guilty of tracking muddied boots into the apartment, and you didn't understand why he'd wanted you to drop judo as an extra curricular, didn't understand the way the floor gave way beneath his feet the day you came home, face bruised and swollen.
But like Harabeoji and like Eomma, when you got upset with something Chun-ho said or a new rule he imposed you didn't yell or break things like Appa used to do (and Chun-ho, before conscription straightened him out) but would instead act rationally. Disappearing from Chun-ho's side before returning when you calmed.
You studied hard, joined extracurriculars that challenged you (as you'd defended judo), kept yourself surrounded with good people and updated him on anything he missed when he was gone.
Above all, you were happy.
Never lamenting on Eomma's passing or Appa's abandonment or faulting Chun-ho for his own shortcomings.
Truly, when Harabeoji said raising you was easy, he wasn't kidding.
Chun-ho was grateful.
Grateful that you'd grown up so normal and healthy, and that in your time together he got to see you come into your own hobbies and interests.
Grateful that you were always so easy with him, although convincing Harabeoji to let you join your class in mandatory training was anything but.
Chun-ho knew what the training was for, as prettily disguised as the government made it be with their promises of CSAT credits in lieu of early admission.
He knew just how dangerous and life-threatening the Spheres really were and had already proven to be, with Young-Hoon's needless death marking the beginning of the end.
Which is why when the Spheres finally attacked Sungjin High School and your platoon was forced to evacuate, Chun-ho was infinitely more grateful that you were right there with him.
Always at his side, even when at times he wished you weren't.
Admittedly though, in the aftermath of the chaos, of the bloodshed and massacre, the realisation that there were still things he hadn't known about you was something Chun-ho did not expect but something that crept up on him during the long nights spent overseeing your platoon.
In the two months your platoon stayed waiting in the downtown Sungjin Military base, Chun-ho learned that Kim Yoo-jung and Jo Jang-soo were perhaps two of your closest friends. Always the first to gravitate toward you during trainings and during lunch.
Though Yoo-jung could get overwhelmed at times with her role as Class President, Jang-soo seemed to be your other half, your main confidant—a constant in a class that seemed to shift around you.
One such force was Yeon Bo-ra, a spirited girl who was all sharp glares and sharper words and everything Chun-ho expected you to be once upon a time.
The past two months may have been hard on everyone, but you'd endured it with the surety of someone who had your family close by. A luxury not everyone had, as Bo-ra liked to point out.
Surprisingly, as often as Yoo-jung and Jang-soo came to your defence against Bo-ra during one her tirades, it was the natural ease that existed between you and Kwon Il-ha that had Chun-ho more intrigued into your place amongst your peers.
One night during dinner Il-ha had given you his bottle of water, hands brushing against yours longer than what was necessary.
It was there that Chun-ho realised that there was something, something more, between you and the usually hot-headed boy.
Your cheeks, usually pale, had been flushed as you accepted the bottle with an appreciative smile. Falling back into your conversation with Yoo-jung all the while Il-ha watched you with the kind of calm and attentiveness Chun-ho hadn't seen in him until then.
It had been a brief interaction, one your brother couldn't place exactly at the time, but the sincerity was there all the same, lingering in the space between you.
Chun-ho hadn't expected it, but seeing you with a first crush, teetering on the edge of something more–well, Chun-ho considered it a small mercy, all things considered.
Even if the War seemed endless and bleak, seeing you just be a kid was something your brother would always cherish. Now more than ever as he stands in the long abandoned classroom of Maesong City University, ready to die.
Tumblr media
The room your brother's trapped in is quiet.
Where your platoon waits in the Seolbong Building across, is not.
Somewhere out there, in the desolate campus building, the mechanical and otherworldly whirring of the Spheres looms closer.
It had been risky, luring the Spheres in the neighbourhood to Maesong City University so they could blow them up with the bombs they'd made from dynamite and depleted uranium. But it had to be done.
And as this War had shown him, the kids in your class–yourself included–were made of stronger stuff.
In spite of the danger, of the fear and uncertainty he was sure you all felt, your class carried on, sticking together and covering each other when it mattered most.
As your Commanding officer, it was a humbling development but as your brother, it was reassuring and relieving all in one.
Knowing you were across from him, safe as you could be surrounded by your friends and platoon, Chun-ho felt nothing but calm serenity. And then–
"–Sir please," So-yeon's voice crackles through the device, wet and choked. "You promised."
The sound of her voice, so young and so scared, drags him back to reality — to the stifled quiet of the abandoned classroom where he almost falters.
But then the rational side of him wins out, and your brother thinks about your class and of you, of how you're somewhere in that room with So-yeon, and reminds himself that just like your class, he can be strong, too.
Firmly, he presses down on his mic.
"I'm sorry I can't protect you until the end as I promised," Chun-ho says, finding his voice.
"And for dragging you into this war as an adult. At first, I thought you were disobedient kids. But now that I think about it, I'm so grateful and proud of you all."
Through his walkie, Chun-ho can hear the raw grief and sorrow of your platoon. Different voices whimpering, crying and begging him to change his mind; but he can't, and he won't.
Quietly, he calls your name. Blinks away his tears as he listens to movement on your end, before a quiet voice rasps:
"Oppa?"
In your next life, Chun-ho resolves to tell you more often how much you mean to him. Resolves to spend his next life making it up to you everyday for leaving this way.
There's so much Chun-ho wishes he could say, but time is a privilege he doesn't have so your brother settles for something shorter, something only you'll understand.
"You have been the best sister I could have asked for. And the time we had together, it was glorious. So live well, okay?"
It's not goodbye, but Lee Chun-ho is confident those are the words that will bring you the most comfort right now. The words that will give you the strength to do what the others can't do in this moment.
And he's right.
In another life, Kim Yoo-Jung would've stepped up to initiate the bomb as Class President. And if not her, than Sergeant Kim as your brothers' second in command.
But in this life, you're here.
And because you've always been a good kid, you press the button in Yoo-jung's place.
And your brother? Well, your brother closes his eyes, and smiles.
Tumblr media
Chun-ho's latest pick is playing on the TV. It's an American move: McFarland USA, or something like that.
You're tucked into his side, all warm and lazy contentment and outside, there is the quiet patter of rain.
"Oppa?" you ask, when the movie reaches a lull.
"Hmm?" he replies, tilting his head toward you.
In the next few months, you'll be taking the CSATs. Graduating high-school before making your way into the big wide world. It's a scary thought, daunting really, but you're confident that whatever you do your brother will support you.
There is one thing you'd like to know, though.
"What if I still don't know what I want to do after school?" you ask, hesitant.
Your brother blinks, as if momentarily surprised, before his face relaxes. "I think by the time CSATS are done, you'll have an idea of what you want to do. You're the smarter one between us, so you'll be fine."
"You think so?"
Chun-ho smiles, playfully knocking your knees with his.
"I know so," he repeats, sure and confident.
"And if you're still unsure, don't focus too much on what everyone else is doing and think about what you like. Sometimes, the best thing we can do in life is find what we love and follow it to glory."
"Is that you how feel about the Military?" you can't but press, curious.
Chun-ho lets out a quiet laugh, eyes soft and gentle as he takes you in. "Not just the Military," he says, something meaningful in his tone, right before a bang resounds from the TV.
"– Now shush, it's starting to get good!"

🌷🐻for sungjin: forehead kisses
It’s always the forehead kisses.
When you’re tired—bone-deep, world-heavy tired—you’ll feel his lips press gently to your forehead as you sink into his arms, your head resting against his chest. Like tonight, when you walk in, drop your bag by the door, and he’s already there, waiting with open arms.
"Long day?" he murmurs, and you don’t even have the energy to answer. You just nod into his shoulder, and that’s all he needs to know.
His arms wrap around you, strong and warm, and then—softly, quietly—he leans down to press his lips to your forehead. The kind of kiss that feels like a promise. You don’t have to do this alone.
When you’re happy, when you’re smiling so wide your cheeks hurt—he’s smiling too, of course, because nothing makes Sungjin happier than seeing you happy.
You’ll be rambling about something silly, some little thing that made your day, and he’ll watch you like you’re his whole world.
And then, when you least expect it, he leans in, cupping the side of your face, and presses the softest kiss to your forehead—like “I love seeing you like this.” Like “Stay happy for me.”
It makes you smile even wider, cheeks burning, and he just grins, like he knew what he was doing all along.
But then there are the days when you’re sad—quiet and distant, tucked into yourself like you’re trying not to fall apart.
Sungjin doesn’t push. He just comes close, sits beside you, close enough for his shoulder to brush yours, and when you lean into him—slow, hesitant—he’s already there, steady as ever.
His hand finds yours, fingers lacing together, and then he turns to press a soft, lingering kiss to your forehead.
"I'm here," he whispers, words gentle, but full of meaning. "Take your time."
And somehow, just that—just him—makes it a little easier to breathe.
It’s never just one kind of moment.
It’s when you’re cooking together and he leans over the counter to kiss your forehead just because.
It’s when you’re half-asleep on the couch, and he tucks a blanket around you, pressing a kiss to your temple so softly you wonder if you imagined it.
It’s when you’re laughing so hard you can’t breathe, and he’s laughing too, before pulling you close and kissing your forehead like you’re the best thing that ever happened to him.
Because that’s just how Sungjin loves you—quiet, constant, and steady.
The kind of love that says “I’m with you.” Always.

I already imagined Brian as the ml 🤭🤭
<3
Thank you so much for your patience, lovely anon! I hope you like it 💜
Genre: Small Town!AU, Unrequited Love, Angst
Pairing: Young K (Brian) x You (Female!Reader)
Words: 3,760
A/N: This is a continuation of the Let Me Love You story.
Welcome to the Show 🍀 Happy 🍀 The Power of Love 🍀 Get the Hell Out 🍀 Sad Ending 🍀 Let Me Love You 🍀 Didn't Know
Tumblr media
I didn't know that was your love I didn't know that was how it was back then It was so natural that we were always together I didn't think it was special How are you doing now? I think I know a little bit more now The answer you wanted to convey I understood it until after it was over
A Long Time Ago
Brian hopped from one foot to the other as he waited for Sungjin (or anyone in Sungjin's family) to come to the door. He'd knocked already, but he had extremely urgent news to share, and it felt like he'd been waiting here forever. So, he started to knock once more, his eyes widening as the door open before he finished.
"Oh, hey, Brian," Sungjin answered casually.
Brian couldn't wait a second longer. "There's a moving van next door!"
Sungjin furrowed his brow and leaned outside, peering at the house in between Brian's house and his own. There was, indeed, a moving van parked in the driveway.
"Neat," Sungjin commented with a slight smile. "Did you see anyone?"
"I think I saw a kid around our age," Brian began, but then he scrunched his features in distaste. "But I also think she's a girl."
Sungjin's shoulders slumped, and Brian knew exactly how he felt. The two boys had been friends for a few years now, ever since they'd started school; while their friendship was practically perfect, they'd both been itching to create a friendship trio. For some reason, having a third person just felt right, like they would complete the friendship somehow.
But a girl? Who wanted to be friends with a girl?
So, Sungjin simply stepped aside to invite Brian in, and they both dashed to the living room to play their favorite video game of the month.
Once the weekend was over, Brian trudged down his driveway toward the bus stop, his bookbag slung over one shoulder.
It's not that he hated going to school -- quite the opposite, in fact -- he just hated not being asleep right now.
He perked up when he saw Sungjin on the corner of the street, though, and he perked up yet again when he saw Sungjin wasn't alone.
Oh yeah! There was a new neighbor! He'd completely forgotten about her -- most likely because it was a her. But, still.
So, Brian picked up the pace, jogging briskly to the bus stop to join his friend.
"Morning," he greeted once he got close enough.
Sungjin turned around, a smile blooming on his face. "Hey, Bri," he said. And then he turned back around to face his fellow bus stop occupant and added, "That's Brian, my friend I was telling you about. He lives on the other side of your house. Brian, this is Y/N, our new neighbor."
Brian raised a hand to wave at you, and you grinned somewhat shyly at him.
When the bus arrived, Sungjin sat next to you while Brian sat behind you; he leaned forward the whole time so he wouldn't miss any part of your conversation, his chin resting on yours and Sungjin's seatback. If Sungjin had decided to talk to you, then Brian would, too.
As the day went on, it turned out that Sungjin had decided to show you all around school -- even eat lunch with you! So, Brian did, too. And by the end of the day, it kind of felt like you'd always been there. Brian almost forgot he'd had reservations about you because you were a girl. Maybe girls weren't so bad after all? Or at least you weren't.
Your way of speaking was warmer than anyone else You were more happy than me The tears that you shed with me I didn't know that was your love Your expression that was awkward but exceptional The confession that I turned over as a joke The last greeting that you said to be happy I didn't know it was love at that time
As the years passed, Brian had to frequently remind himself how lucky he was to have the two best friends in the world. To him, you and Sungjin were simply part of his everyday life. But when he noticed that other people's friends weren't by their side 24/7, he knew just how lucky he actually was.
Sungjin was there to give him advice during tough situations and when Brian had to make hard decisions. Sungjin was there when all Brian wanted to do was play video games as a way to escape from the stresses of real life. And when Brian randomly decided he wanted to learn how to play the bass guitar? Sungjin said he'd always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, too.
And you were always there to stop him from making very embarrassing fashion statements. You were there to laugh and cheer him on when he and his classmates made up the stupidest math dance ever. You were there, by his side, almost every single time he'd ever cried -- and you cried right along with him, no matter what the tears were for.
It never, ever crossed his mind that things would change. That things ever could change. Not with the Three Musketeers.
But then they did, and Brian hadn't even seen it coming.
The three of you were in your final year of University -- you'd all gone to the same school, of course, and Sungjin and Brian had been roommates every year -- and things had been perfect. None of you had failed any of your classes, you'd all made some new friends while still maintaining the bond of the Three Musketeers, and Brian really hadn't thought things could get better when he'd started dating Justine, the girl from his Calculus class he'd been crushing on since the first day of class.
But then he came home from a date one night to an empty apartment, called Sungjin to find out where he was, and... everything changed.
"...Oh," he said after a few moments of silence.
Because how else was he supposed to react to what Sungjin had just told him?
"Yeah, and if you ever let on that you know, I'm going to --"
"Yeah, I get it," Brian interrupted, sighing under his breath. "I'll see you later, then?"
Sungjin hummed, and Brian quickly ended the call.
...You liked him?
You. You had... feelings? For him?
How? Why? Since when?
Sungjin had sworn him to secrecy, so he couldn't even ask you. He could potentially try to pry the answers out of Sungjin, but he'd also mentioned on the phone that you were trying to get over your crush, so it wouldn't be helpful to bring it up again. Right?
Brian would just have to try and forget he knew anything.
But, of course, as he lay in bed that night, he found himself thinking back to every interaction he'd had with you lately. Had the signs been obvious and he'd missed them? Had your smiles been different than normal? Had your 'have fun!' and 'good luck!' texts before his dates with Justine just been a cover? When he'd stress cried the other week, had you been crying sympathetically, as you'd always done? Or had you been crying because you... loved him?
In one way, he felt like a total idiot. Looking back on things, it should have been obvious. But in another way, there's no way he could've been able to tell. You truly hadn't acted any differently lately! You'd always been such a kind, supportive, and caring friend, and when it really came down to it, he couldn't pinpoint when you'd started developing feelings for him. Nothing had changed!
Except, in actuality, everything had changed. And he would have to act like it hadn't. He would have to act like he didn't know and everything was still normal, was still as it had always been.
Do you still laugh a lot these days? I miss your bright smile The jokes that we shared My lighthearted self from that time now weighs heavily on me
Maybe it was dramatic to think this but deciding to break the promise he'd made with you and Sungjin to move back to your small hometown after graduating from University had been the most difficult decision of his life.
Part of the reason it had been so difficult was because Brian felt he couldn't ask Sungjin for advice like he usually did.
After that phone call, Brian had fully committed to acting as if Sungjin had never said anything. It had been... strange. And each time he'd found himself unconsciously becoming distant, he'd sent a text to the group chat asking who had time to hang out.
By the time graduation had rolled around, he and Justine had been dating for over half a year. He had met her parents, and she had met his. He'd told her 'I love you' for the first time a couple of months prior. In other words, their relationship had gotten pretty serious.
So, when Justine had suggested he move back to her hometown with her, it really hadn't been that out of the blue.
Still, though. It had taken him by surprise because the idea of not moving back with you and Sungjin had never once entered his mind.
He'd thought about it long and hard. He'd weighed out the pros and cons. He'd lost many hours of sleep. And, finally, he'd settled on moving with Justine.
If you had really had strong feelings for him, the best thing he could think to do was to keep his distance -- quite literally -- so you had a chance to get over him. Plus, he could still visit, text, and call you both all the time. And what he had with Justine also wasn't something he was willing to give up. Sure, they could've tried long distance, but in Brian's opinion, it was much easier to keep up a long-distance friendship than it was a long-distance relationship.
So, he'd moved away. He'd found a job in this new city and moved into an apartment with his girlfriend.
And, looking back even now, he had no regrets. He'd learned and grown so much as a person, and once the learning and growing had stopped, he'd ended the relationship and moved back here after over five years away, not even counting his time in University.
To be honest, he barely thought about the fact that you'd once had feelings for him. As soon as he moved back (into the same apartment complex as you and Sungjin, of course), things with the Three Musketeers had gone back to normal.
Brian would be lying if he said he didn't notice a tiny shift in your and Sungjin's friendship, though, but that was to be expected. The two of you had spent probably every day with each other for more than five years, so there's no way you wouldn't have grown closer to each other than you were to Brian.
Something else he noticed was how much he'd missed you -- more than he'd realized, honestly. The first time you'd laughed at something he'd said, the sound had warmed his heart. It was strange because it's not like he hadn't seen you since moving away! He had! That certainly hadn't been the first time he'd heard you laugh in years, but it felt that way.
And that had been when he'd decided to try his hardest to go back to the way things used to be -- before Justine, before your feelings, before University even! Things had been perfect back then, and he was determined to make them perfect once more.
There's no going back Even if I keep looking back I tell you, but you aren't here I was in love We were in love Leaving the time is far away That I can't return to
Isn't it funny how, no matter what age you are, you can always look back on your younger self and shake your head and go 'Oh, you sweet child, you were so dumb and had no idea what you were talking about'?
Brian had been so set on turning back time and recreating the friendship dynamic the Three Musketeers had growing up, before the complications of young adulthood and University life had... well, complicated things.
Obviously, that hadn't happened.
But it was okay!
After Brian moved back home, as time went on, the three of you had built a new friendship together. It was definitely different and new, but it was still beautiful.
And, to be honest, over the years, he'd kind of forgotten that you'd ever had feelings for him.
Then, one day not too long ago, Brian had received a text from Justine. He had been over at your place for a movie night (Sungjin had been having dinner with his parents), and normally, he wouldn't have opened a text from anyone during movie night... but you had been at your front door accepting the pizza delivery, so he'd pressed on the notification.
He hadn't been expecting anything out of the blue -- he and Justine were still friendly and spoke to each other every so often. So, when he opened the text and saw a picture of Justine's left hand adorned with a rather large diamond ring, he'd actually let out a "Whoa!"
"What?" you asked, sliding the pizza boxes on your coffee table and plopping down next to him on the couch.
Brian tilted his phone so you could see and said, "Justine's engaged, I guess."
"Wow!" you chuckled. "Congratulations to her. Who's the lucky guy?"
"One of her brother's friends, I think," Brian shrugged, sending a quick 'Congrats!' reply before sliding his phone back into his pocket. "I never met him."
As Brian leaned forward to open the pizza box and grab a slice, he saw your concerned expression out of the corner of his eye.
"...Are you okay?" you asked quietly.
"Hmm?" Brian hummed. "Oh, yeah, of course. Justine and I are cool, I'm happy for her."
You let out a soft chuckle and moved to get your own slice of pizza. "I don't think I could ever be cool with an ex," you admitted. "Especially not someone I dated for, like, ever."
"It was six years -- okay, yeah, that's a long time," Brian smirked. "I don't know, there's nothing to not be cool about, I guess."
"Wait, speaking of. Hasn't it been almost that same amount of time since you broke up?" you asked.
Brian's forehead wrinkled as he thought, and then he simply nodded.
"You haven't dated anyone yet? Anyone? What's up with that?"
"Nothing's up with that!" he scoffed, playfully shoving your leg with his foot. "I've been busy, okay! And, honestly, look who's talking. I don't recall you telling me about going on any dates recently!"
You shrugged and took a bite of your pizza, but Brian could've sworn he saw your mouth twitching up into a shy smile.
"Come on, spill," Brian nudged.
"There's nothing to spill!" you assured him.
You were avoiding his gaze, though, so Brian knew you weren't being entirely truthful. Oh well -- he would drop it for now since you obviously weren't ready to share.
It wasn't until after he'd left your apartment later that evening that he realized he was still thinking about your reaction to his dating question.
You were definitely hiding something... but what? What could you possibly not be comfortable sharing with him?
...Unless?
No, it couldn't be.
Could it?
The reason you hadn't shared any details about your romantic life with him surely couldn't be that... you still... had feelings for him. Right?
He vividly remembered what it felt like when Sungjin had told him all those years ago that you'd had feelings for him: his heart had dropped like lead because he'd felt so bad. He hadn't questioned whether or not he'd returned your feelings because there had been nothing to question. He simply hadn't seen you as anything other than one of his very best friends.
But thinking about it now... wondering if maybe your feelings had resurfaced... it was certainly a different experience. His heart didn't feel anything like a hunk of lead. It hadn't dropped down into his stomach, and he didn't feel sorry for you.
Of course, none of that meant anything, but he figured he would let these thoughts marinate for a bit and see what happened. He would keep a watchful eye and a listening ear out to try and pick up on any other signs that you might like him again -- as more than a friend.
It took approximately three weeks and four days for Brian to conclude that you most likely did like him again -- as more than a friend. Short of telling him straightforwardly, the majority of your words, actions, and body language all pointed to romantic feelings.
I mean, maybe he was just imagining things, but your smiles around him seemed brighter than normal. Your laughs seemed extra loud. You couldn't go ten minutes without resting your hand on his arm or shoulder or just brushing or leaning against him.
The kicker was when the two of you had yet again gotten on the topic of dating. Brian had been talking to Sungjin earlier that evening about setting him up with one of his co-workers, and after Sungjin had left, Brian had (maybe not so subtly) asked if you wanted to be set up, too. He had plenty of single co-workers!
You turned him down, which honestly seemed like you wanted Brian to dig deeper.
"Oh?" he questioned, tilting his head curiously. "And why not? You don't trust me to set you up with someone?"
"No, it's not that," you replied with a chuckle. "I just... don't need to be set up with anyone right now."
Brian quirked an eyebrow at you. "What does that mean?"
It's not like you were fresh out of a relationship and trying to get over an ex.
"You're so annoying!" you whined, playfully shoving him. (See? An excuse to touch him). "If you must know, there's someone I have my eye on."
Brian gasped, reaching out to put his hands on your shoulders and turn you to face him head-on. "What? Who? Is this new? Why haven't you said anything?"
"Nosy!" you accused. "It's pretty new... kind of. I mean, I've known him for a while, and I think maybe I've liked him for a while, I just..."
But then you shook his hands off of your shoulders and stepped away.
"Anyway! You don't need the details."
"Uh, yes, I absolutely do," Brian countered.
Because he was pretty sure you were talking about him.
And suddenly, images flashed through his mind of going on a double date: Sungjin and Brian's co-worker with Brian and... you.
He liked you.
Brian liked you.
As more than a friend.
All of this time he'd been spending with you had made him realize just how... perfect you were. You were smart and hilarious and compassionate and beautiful, inside and out. Honestly, he'd been a fool this whole time for never realizing that.
But he was a fool no longer. He recognized how amazing you were, and he wanted to be with you.
He wanted to go on a date with you, and if his hunch was correct, you wanted to go on a date with him, too.
Before he could say anything, though, you made an excuse about picking up something from your parent's house and left Brian's apartment.
Obviously, Brian told Sungjin almost immediately and, from there, began planning out how and when he would confess and ask you out, officially.
He couldn't believe this. Things were actually working out. You had feelings for him, and now, he had feelings for you. At the same time!
Over the next week, Brian tried to drop hints -- the same hints you'd been dropping lately. He smiled extra brightly at you. He laughed extra loudly at your jokes. He touched your arm, shoulder, or hand at any opportunity. And he definitely didn't bring up the idea of setting you up with one of his co-workers again.
Finally, when you sent a text to the Three Musketeers group chat about getting the promotion you'd been gunning for at work, Brian knew the time had come. He suggested going out for pizza the next evening, and that would be the perfect time to confess to you!
He worked it all out with Sungjin beforehand: Brian would go pay, Sungjin would take you out to the parking lot, and once Brian had left the restaurant, Sungjin would get a "text from his mom" asking him to come help her with something. And that's when Brian would take the opportunity to tell you how he felt.
That's when his life would change, when your Happily Ever After would begin.
Brian's heart hammered inside his chest all throughout dinner, and especially when you'd all cleared your plates and he said, "I'm going to go pay, and then I'll meet you guys outside, okay?"
"Deal!" you grinned.
His stomach flipped at your grin. God, you were so pretty. How had he gone over twenty years not seeing just how pretty you were?
Before he left the table, Brian shot Sungjin a Look, and Sungjin nodded once.
It took everything in him not to ask the cashier if she could hurry it up; he silently reminded himself that five extra minutes wouldn't matter in the long run, not when the 'long run' quite literally meant the rest of his life.
In ten years, when the two of you were happily settled and married, neither of you would remember if Brian had confessed to you at 7 PM or 7:05 PM.
Still, though. It wasn't ten years from now, and the two of you were not yet happily settled and married. So, Brian was anxious to get a move on!
When the cashier finally handed over his receipt and thanked him, he dropped a few bills into the tip jar, turned on his heel, and booked it out of there.
His gaze swept over the parking lot as soon as he stepped foot outside, his heart and stomach flipping over when he spotted you and Sungjin.
He took one step toward you... but then...
Everything seemed to happen in slow motion after that.
Brian watched as you lifted your arms and stepped up to Sungjin, pulling him into a tight embrace. He watched as Sungjin returned your hug, his hands grasping you, his arms holding you in a way that could only be described as 'more than friendly.'
What was going on?
You pulled back after just a few moments, but just when Brian thought maybe it had simply been a hug goodbye, you stood on your toes and...
You kissed Sungjin.
Remember when, all those years ago when Sungjin told him that you were trying to get over your feelings for Brian and his heart felt like lead?
Well, it felt like that again.
His heart felt like a ton of lead that had just been dropped into the ocean and was now sinking down to the bottom.
You didn't have feelings for him. You had feelings for... Sungjin.
How had he read the situation so wrong? All of your bright smiles, loud laughs, gentle touches had meant nothing?
And what made it all worse was the fact that you'd had feelings for him at one point.
He was just about 10 years too late.

Okay lol let’s get some fluffy day6 thoughts going because for the 25th valentine’s day in a row I am single :D quarter of a century strong let’s go
Going in age reverse order because I love park sungjin too much to put him first. Best for last baby
Dowoon turns into Clifford the big red dog when you present him with your valentine’s confession treat of choice. Blushing incoherent mess like there are words coming out of his mouth but he’s so happy they’re unintelligible. He asks “this is really for me?” (there is no one else around) and all you hear after that is his excited giggles and that Busan satoori bobbing up and down, and you’re pretty sure he’s telling you he’s liked you for a long time and he can’t believe this is real life, but then out of nowhere he has your gift in one hand and your hand in the other, barely meeting your eyes, and he’s asking you in the sincerest deepest shiest voice possible if that means this is day one
Wonpil takes a minute to form his response but while he does it he’s bouncing on the balls of his feet, hiding his smile behind his hands, finding it hard to even look at you because you just look so dang cute. He finally breaks his silence to tell you exactly that with a grin so wide his cheeks are hurting and he’s afraid his face will freeze like that. He asks if he can hug you and it’s impossible to tell him no and then he holds you so tight you can hardly breathe but he’s just so excited to find out that his crush isn’t one sided that he can’t hold back his affection
Younghyun is floored. He doesn’t even realize he’s coming off as if he doesn’t like you and doesn’t know how to say it—he’s genuinely just surprised because how could he, a master of love songs, not have seen this coming? He meets your eyes, his mouth still hanging open as you awkwardly let your arms drop from offering him your gift, and as he sees you become flustered, he realizes that you think he’s rejecting you. So he stops you by grabbing your hands and asks if you mean it, this isn’t a prank? And the way his smile lights up his entire countenance makes up for his awkward initial reaction
Park Sungjin this silly man. He thinks you’re being friendly. Because he’s just a guy like how could he be the object of your affections? Even when you explain to him that no, you mean it, you like him, you would like to date him, even, he has to sit down for a moment and just say “oh wow!” because he’s not quite used to being Perceived like that. He likes going through life and making connections with people and more than once he’s thought he might like to experience life by your side, and now that the idea of holding your hand could become a reality, well, it’s just a little strange to him. He needs a little more time to think, but it’s not because he’s not sure his answer won’t be yes. He knows it’s yes already, and from the way he looks at you when he tells you this, you know it is too

FOUREVER
Dimulai dari lagu utamanya, yg mana juga ada MV-nya, Welcome to The Show. Tipe-tipe sing-along song banget apalagi pas dibawain di konser. Juga tipe lagu yg langsung nemplok di otak once you listen to it (lagu daesik mana yg gak nempel hellow?). Liriknya dibuka dengan "I'm so moved by the stage, that I won't be alone any longer.". Yap, YoungK banget udah ini yg nulis. Betapa senangnya dia bisa balik nge-band lagi, nyanyi bareng bocah-bocah lagi karena selama masa hiatus kemaren he was going solo to every show. Wonpil juga ada proyek covering lagu. Dowun mungkin latihan vokal ya, karena sempet ngeluarin lagu duet bareng penyanyi cewek. Sungjin sibuk manjangin rambut 😂Eeem mungkin beliau ngasah skill gitar elektrik ya, karena dulu kan megang gitar akustik dan Jae yang megang elektrik. Karena Jae my beloved human udah bersolo karir, Sungjin dah tu yang mengisi posisi gitar elektrik sekarang.
Naaah menurut selera musik gw, lagu ini tu easy-listening, tapi kayak belum Day6 banget. Masih normal, masih familiar dan cenderung ngikutin pasar. Ya allah maap maap kita bukan expert di bagian musik yak, ini mah sepenilaian aing aja yg memang sotoy ✌ Untuk tau the real Day6 tu harus kudu wajib nyelamin B-side mereka gengs. Dari pengalaman gw, lagu-lagu B-side mereka lah yg bikin gw jadi My Day. Soooo kita lanjut ke next song~
Urutan kedua judulnya The Power of Love. Langsung inget lagunya Celine Dion gak tuuu CAUSE I'M YOOURR LAAAAAAYDEEEEEE~~ AND YUWA MA MEEEEEEN~~ Tapi yang versi daesik ini musiknya nge-beat wkwkw bikin lu ngangguk-ngangguk cem anjing dashboard. Vibe-nya ceria, energetik, full of positivity. Line yg ear-catching itu pas bagian reff "You need the power of love, power of love..." Yaa, as you can guess, lagunya berkisah tentang lu tu butuh kekuatan cinta dalam menjalani hidup, gak ada yg gak mungkin kalo kita belajar mencintai hidup. Gitu gitu lah, dengan kata-kata magisnya YoungK. Bisa banget dengerin lagu ini pas lagi butuh disemangatin, pas mau bangkit lagi tapi you got no friends around. Biarin lagu ini jadi temen lu 👍
Next lagu ini udah pernah gw singgung sedikit di post sebelumnya. Lagu yg wajib gw curigain karena tidak se-happy musiknya atau se-happy judulnya. Iyak the title is Happy. Daaaaan kecurigaan gw terbukti. The Power of Love tapi tapi tapi, desperate banget heran??? Line yg terngiang-ngiang di otak gw tu pas Sungjin nyanyi "Will there be such a day? The day when I find my dream. The day when I'm so happy I could scream at the sky." Trus reff nya yang seolah-olah bilang "Boleh gak sih gue bahagia? Senyum, ketawa, gak perlu khawatir. Please help me, gue cuma terduduk diam dan rasanya pengen nangis. Plis bilang kalo gue boleh bahagia." Selama reff itu ada harmoni piano yg bikin lu makin tersayat-sayat.
Ah skip. Alert banget lagu ini. Cocok buat yg mau tumpah sekebon karena merasa useless, diam di tempat, gak berhak bahagia, dll. Tapi abis itu udah yak, dengerin The Power of Love biar semangat lagi. Atau For Me boleh juga tu, lagu lama mereka. Tentang embracing yourself biar bisa strong lagi 😉
NEEEXT kita move on dari yg sedih-sedih padahal judulnya happy. Eh bentaaaaar. Judul Happy itu jadi semacam topeng gak sih? Manusia kan topengnya begitu ya, di luar tampak senyum, fine, ketawa, eh dalemnya kapal titanic??? Wah jenius sih. Parah daeziiikkk
NEEEEXT beneran next kita ke yg judulnya Get The Hell Out. This one is the real rock vibe, yang dari liriknya pun juga gak ada yg mencurigakan kek tadi. Sumpah ya, lagu-lagu day6 yg begini tu ngingetin sama MCR sih, nyatu banget vibe-nyaaa. Reff nya nagih, sumpah. Mana dinyanyiin Sungjin lagi, bahasa inggris pula 👏👏👏 "How nice this world could be to me... kalo aja orang ini ni TENGGELAM ke inti Bumi wuahahaha." Wkwkwk ya emang begitu gaes, ceritanya tentang kebencian mendalam ke seseorang (yg mungkin mantan) sampe yauda sih lu ke laut aje sana jadi bangke duyung, jangan ganggu hidup gw lagi. Begitu. Asik sih tetep lagunya.
NEXT ya allah gw nulis begini aja sampe satu jam-an. Kita kasih part 2 yak kalo rame ehe. Mimin belum mandi juga ini. Insyaallah abis magrib kita lanjut yaa~ masih ada lagu yg bikin geleng-geleng soalnya ckck.
