#Hap Lives

Between Season 3 and Season 4 of Camp Cretaceous, I started getting all kinds of fanfic ideas. The show, and a couple characters in particular, have been a source of inspiration I've rarely felt since I first got into writing fic over a decade ago.

One of these stories is a rather long AU/Crossover, which I'm still in the process of writing (currently ~50k), but with each new bit of info revealed for Chaos Theory, it tickles me how many similarities I see between what I envisioned for the campers in this story back around Season 4 to where they are now in canon. (Obviously these aren't perfect parallels by any means, but still.)

Darius: Feeling guilty over something that happened that was outside of his control, focused on dinosaurs/his research

Brooklynn: Off investigating things that might be better left alone, partly the catalyst for major plot point because of this

Kenji: Struggling with his current circumstances, rock-climbing may also be involved

Sammy: Working on a ranch, most well-adjusted of the group to the changes in their lives

Yaz: Finding ways to help people despite her own trauma/PTSD, learning to live with dinosaurs again

Ben: Is working on achieving a healthy mental balance between paranoid germaphobe and feral jungle boy, got tall (though I wasn't expecting him to be the tallest)

Misc. details: The group are separated, relationships between some might be strained due to plot points, lots of angst and guilt, carnivores trying to get them, adventure/survival reunites them, Bumpy remains perfect.

Hap: Losing his mind over trying to look after these kids, is too old for these shenanigans

Basically, every new thing we learn from Chaos Theory is helping reinforce most of the decisions I made in this story when it came to these characters and all I can think is:

I've got a Part 1 that is a S2/early S3 AU where Hap lives that I still really need to write because it needs to be posted first;

The snippets above are from the main continuation I am working on that is a bit of a surprise story (and might not go the way you expect) - you can find some more ambiguous details here in this post;

And I do intend to do a full, formal Part 2 that picks up in S3 where Part 1 left off and continues through Chaos Theory.

#the kenji part. i just know they have the most heart breaking relationship especially since i hc that hap had an abusive dad himself#so this is really important to hap

I will be honest, I haven't given too much thought to Hap's childhood/backstory (I have thought about it a bit, don't worry), but regardless of that, Hap very quickly realizes that Kenji is the one with the worst relationship with his parent(s) out of the group. #im also rlly interested to how youre gonna write ben n hap's relationship. i just know the tension between them never goes away#in my head it stops being a “i dont trust you” type tension to a “i am better than you” one

Without spoiling too much, there is definitely a period where there's this distrust Ben holds towards Hap and Hap is frustrated by Ben (he's an unknown, he wasn't with the others when Hap first encountered them, he's gone more feral than the others, etc.) when Hap is just trying to help. Things will eventually improve between them.

I am so thrilled to hear this!! I hope to be able to read your own story about this idea someday!!! Especially to see how you bring your ideas/headcanons to life compared to my own interpretation of the situation and how the characters respond. So excited!!

Anyway Tecchou and Kenji are so cute. They are one of the best duo in BSD. They are buddies now. I WISH TECCHOU WON'T DIE TOO. I believe Kenji, Tanizaki, Kunikida and Teruko will come back because why not? THEY MUST or we need to do "will live" method. I must start now.

Tanizaki was so angry but he was calm here. It must hurt... It looks so painful. I am sad about Tanizaki. I prefer he is alive. At the same time I am glad to know Naomi isn't his sister. All fans know their relationship and it's creepy when think them as siblings. I know the Naomi in his book but I wasn't sure is it same in the anime. I am wondering her family now but MY KENJI AAAAAAA!

Our girlbosses are coming! I think they will be great duo. I believe they will find a way to come. I think Lucy cares Atsushi so much . She even thinks what make him sad but I don't want think the only reason Lucy doesn't want Kyouka dies because of Atsushi. I still want think Lucy and Kyouka as big sister-little sister relationship. They are so powerful girls and they will help us.
