Finally finished and blocked these cute socks!
It was a fun experiment with color dominance in colorwork knitting and gave me a really thick, soft, cushiony fabric. They’re super comfy and almost more like slipper-socks.
Pattern: Call Them Cherry Blossoms by Tiina Kuu
Yarn: knitpicks palette and knitpicks stroll glimmer (discontinued)

April socks done!
I had to take a week off knitting, and the two weeks around that week I barely knitted, since I have this weird radiating pain from the outside of my shoulders. I still managed to finish these though! And I'm very happy with them. I don't know what yarn this is, as it’s the oldest sock yarn I had in my stash (hence why I chose to knit with it now). Still the same pattern as Februari and March, and the same as May will be (which I just started on! Handdyed yarn!)
Thank you and see you on the next update!

another entry into the endless discussion of how long it takes to knit a sock.
Tumblr media
it's not bound off because i wasn't sure if my kid would want some 1x1 ribbing at the top, but they say no thank you, so this is it done. i bound off just now and it took less than ten minutes.
we watched the extended edition lotr movies over the last few days, and i knit this whole we watched. i started out working on a jumper, but by the time frodo was leaving the shire, i'd realised that i didn't want to be faffing about with underarm stitches when they were, say, in the mines, so i grabbed some sock yarn and cast on for mindless knitting instead.
i was knitting a little intermittently, since i can't knit when crying uncontrollably, and we didn't watch all the credits, and also i started a bit after the movie did. the movies are about 11 hours and 40 minutes, including the credits. so the sock, beginning to end, took less than 11 hours of knitting, and honestly probably closer to ten.
socks are fast and easy, i swear! let 2024 be the year you let handknitting socks into your heart!

I told my mom I was finishing knitting “my first pair of socks.” She protested saying they were NOT my first pair and showed me these slippers that I knitted for her probably over 15 years ago. I love seeing them side by side. What a difference years of practice can do.

NEW SOCKS JUST DROPPED!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No pattern, but based on the "for the frill of it" socks on ravelry. Used a sweet tomato heel and liked it, but it could've benefited from a few less rows in the foot to accommodate such a deep heel.
Overall really happy with these! They knit up so fast. I am calling them my lilypad socks because they remind me of lakes and the frill is just like a lilypad :)

So i’ve perfected my personal sock recipe.
I tried something out with smaller needles for the toe area and reinforcing the ball of the foot with a slip stitch and I LOVE how it turned out.
They’re sooo comfy, warm, and a little supportive. It’s only taken knitting like… 15 pairs of socks to get to this point??
Yarns are Patons Classic Wool Worsted in Brown Mustard and Dark Gray Mix.

May! It was a busy month with school, hence why I didn't finish these untill june 7th. But I suppose that's fitting, since I've been calling these my pride socks! Its handdyed (by me!) yarn as a triangle dying experiment with my new ashford dyes. At some point these got quite tedious to make, but I'm happy to have finished them. The pattern is, as always, Nice ribbed socks on ravelry.
I've already casted on my june pair (also handdyed, but this time selfstriping!), here's to hoping I will finish these on time. Especially since the next 2,5 ish weeks are very busy at uni.
Thank you and have a nice day!

the sum of my accomplishments this month: a pile of mended handknit socks and a completed puzzle of Coast Salish artist Francis Horne Sr.'s work SASQUATCH.
you can find the puzzle here: https://nativenorthwest.ca/1000-piece-jigsaw-puzzle-sasquatch/
mending methods used: duplicate stitching over worn stitches, woven patch darning over holes.
supplies used: darning egg, tapestry needle, scrap fingering weight yarn in a variety of colours

Finally finished these socks!! :D
It’s been a long time coming - I loved the look of this pattern when I got my giant 100-projects book, but definitely wasn’t up to the challenge at the time. It felt great to come back to it and find that I could do it with relative ease! The slipped-stitch raised stripe technique is one I’ve done before on these socks, and I think the effect is so cool; I’ve been incorporating it into my own hat pattern.
These are so vibrant and fun, and I wore them to my graduation last week!
Pattern: ‘Slippery Slope Socks’ by General Hogbuffer - here on Ravelry - in Interweave’s 100 Knits pattern book
Yarn: Orange is Schoppel Woll Crazy Zauberball in ‘Orangerie’, white is Cascade 220 Fingering in ‘Natural’

Finally, I Finished The Socks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I finally finished the My Favorite Vanilla socks.
I used Patons Kroy Socks sock yarn in Blue Raspberry. I used size U.S. 2 (2.75 mm) to knit the socks. I modified the cuff to a knit two, purl two rib, other than that, I kept the pattern. I cast on 72 stitches to start, but I frogged the socks, and restarted with 64 stitches, and it just flew by.
The eye of partridge heel flap was a test of my patience. I really thought about modifying the heel, but I persevered, and did it. The extra gusset stitch was worth it, because I didn't have to guess the stitch to knit.
For me, the second sock went by faster. I know they look mismatched, but I don't care. I think it adds charm, adds character, and makes them unique. They'll be covered by my Docs in the winter.
