did you watch epic materialize as a project, and hope to experience it again someday? were you late to the party, and wished that you could've been there since the beginning?

musician grace yurchuk on tiktok (also found on instagram and youtube) is in the process of making a julius caesar musical!!!! it's based on the shakespeare play, but supplemented with historical facts. a concept album is in development, after which she plans to get the musical onto the stage!

Okay, so you've just sent me down a rabbit hole that yielded some very interesting information.

I thought that you were saying that the member of the ensemble was named Ophelia. Like, the character was named Ophelia, leading me to think "wait, the ensemble characters have names?" After some digging, no, they do not, at least not that I can find, and "Ophelia" was just in the song that the tictoc used. That being said, I now headcanon the woman in the white dress as being named Ophelia.

All of the ensemble members wear white, or off-white, so I thought that "white dress girl" would be uninformative. Nope. While the ensemble wear white, almost none of them wear dresses.

On my trip to find the ensemble costumes, I found an image someone made on Reddit of all the costumes changes in Hamilton. This was really cool, and I learned that Thomas Jefferson apparently has more than one costume? And James Madison does not, he wears the same thing through the whole second act. Because they appeared to be going off the movie, it's possible that the different recordings all had different costumes to each other, but the same costume throughout? So when the recordings are spliced together, it looks like a costume change. I don't know, it's just a guess. Either way, I still like how Madison wears the same thing the whole time. The two women who Philip talks to in Blow Us All Away are named "Dolly Madison" and "Martha Jefferson". Not to be confused with Dolley Madison and Martha Jefferson, the respective wives of James Madison and Thomas Jefferson. I got this information from the Hamilton wiki, and even it says that they are "seen onstage only once and never named by any character," so it could be a complete fabrication.

Hamilton female ensemble costumes by track part 12/12: Swing woman 6

In 2021 I started posting this series and never finished it because I had virtually no photos of the final two parts. Then I posted one of those llike two years ago. And now I've had the final part for a while just never posted it. So lets actually finish this thing.

The swing woman 6 costume originally worn by Johanna Moise. This one was introduced dayw before the Broadway lockdown in 2020, it is called wonder woman by the costume makers for the front detailing. It is technically the seventh swing design but called SW6 by production. Probably one of the universal swing designs is SW5 but no clue which.

It is the corset with several overlaping chevrons of trim. It has been worn both for regular swings and universal swings.

Congratulations to Paul Tazewell who won the 2025 Oscar for Best Costume Design. Tazewell is the first Black Man to win in this category. He also won the BAFTA for his work on Wicked.

He has designed costumes for many productions, include “Hamilton” for which he won a Tony in 2016.

Tazewell posted on Instagram:

“When I was growing up as a black gay boy there were very few well known figures that I saw myself in that I found to look up to and admire and want to be like when I grow up. Into my young adulthood, Andrè Leon Talley became that figure for me.”

I hope Paul Tazewell becomes an inspiration for the next generation of children - black, or gay, or otherwise!
