Your art is so cool! The lighting is stunning omg.
Halo : Refuge - Zo Resken
Today (March 7th) is my birthday so I thought I’d celebrate it this year with some personal art of my interpretation of Zo Resken, the former Prophet of Clarity from the novel Halo: Broken Circle, as he is one of my favorite Halo characters.
Sadly, the book never gave much of a description for his appearance, nor his clothing. All I had to go on was his title as a Prophet and that he was described as “fairly young”, but since the San’Shyuum are my fav Halo alien species, I’ve nerded out on their lore and had a good idea of how to go about filling in the blanks along with my own personal preferences.
And this all started out because after finishing Halo: Infinite’s campaign, I was so impressed with the Forerunner architecture in the game, I wanted to create a neat background and figured Zo would be perfect to include to kick start me being back in a Halo mood again.
As mentioned before though, I’ve often been very hesitant to post a lot of my San’Shyuum art. I adore them, but most do not so I never felt like I had much reason to post to potentially only get hateful comments towards them/my artwork. I think I’ll be changing that bad habit moving forward, though.

I decided to revamp all my Halo OCs and color them finally because I never actually DID give them official color schemes in the 12 years I've had them.
Shame on me but meh, good for practice
In order as goes: Zigor and Sorrow on top
Zosimos and Cato at the bottom
Taking a break before starting commissions

Apollo - Wolf
Second painting of a series of four with a Greek mythology theme
In Ancient Greek culture, wolves were closely associated with Apollo. It's unsure where it comes from, maybe the similitude between the Ancient Greek word for "wolf", λύκος (lukos), and for light, λευκός (leukos), or maybe because of his aspect of Master of Animals that echoes his sister's, or something else. This association with a god of light, arts, and overall civilisation is pretty unusual, as in most other European mythologies wolves are associated with either war gods or psychopomps (like Mars in Roman mythology, Odin in Norse mythology, or the Gaulish god Lugus).
Whatever its origin is, that association was pretty strong, with several of Apollo's epithets referencing wolves, unusual wolf attacks on livestock (like in broad daylight, or targeting the one head of the herd and no other animal) being often seen as signs from the god, myths mentioning Apollo sending wolves as signs or punishment to mortals, and herders often praying Apollo to protect them and their livestock from wolves
#art#traditional art#animals#wolf#wolves#greek mythology#indian ink#wolf art#video#the gold halo represents the sun#but also the 'rays' being arrows are a nod to another of Apollo's domains (archery)#as well as a visual representation of inspiration#whether prophetic or artistic since whose were both domains of Apollo as well

So as some of yall know, back when Halo Infinite was first being announced and my scifi drive was in the high skies, I had played with the Idea of bringing the Covenant into Warhammer 40k tabletop by just playing them as reskinned Tau. Honestly I'm getting a bit worryingly close to doing so again!
Despite the fact I have nine necrons, three of which are vehicles, and half an eldar warlock left to paint I'm very hesitant to start a new army.... buuut if I were to start with a combat patrol would that be so bad?
With tau Drones being little more than "tokens" I figured I can remove them as long as I have a representative such as a jackal Sargeant with a Plasma carbine pointing at something to symbolize a marker Drone attached to the Sargeant.
Grunts with plasma pistols are tau with Pulse carbines
Jackals with plasma carbines are tau with pulse rifles (I know the pictures have the wrong guns but I couldn't find right picture and I didn't have the files on hand)
The Missile pod thing for the tau squad is a heavy grunt with a turret
The Etheral is just a Prophet because all they do is float around and tell people what to do
The rest kinda self explanatory, Stealth elites are Stealth suits, fireblade is an Elite Major (might swap that to a minor since he'd still be leading a squad of Grunts/jackals and I don't think the files I'm gonna use has the proper sized elite generals yet)

Im glad my ask inspired you x3
But dont burn yourself out over it, y'know?
Also as fun as Halo 3 is... The Prophet of truth seems to had a serious re-write since Halo 2.
Cause in Halo 2, he seemed to know EXACTLY what the halo rings were, letting the other prophets die, and specifically cut off the heretic's message before he mentioned anything about guilty spark or anything like that.
But in Halo 3? He's just a zealous propaganda machine :/
No cool subtle hints of his plan, no vague lines that he knows he'll destroy the universe, nothing. Just "I am the bringer of the great journey!" and "I am the voice of the covenant!" and its just such a let down from the buildup of his whole arc from Halo 2
ALSO PLAY ODST RIGHT THE HECK NOW!!!!!!!!!
Super Intendent and Virgil my beloveds :3
I said a while ago. Hold on is it in my tag. YES okay so when I was talking about halo 2 a while ago I said that it felt like 2 was Bungie trying to expand on all of the ideas they had for CE. And they had a lot of trouble with that bc of how rushed they were.
3 feels like the successful version of that, with the stipulation that it’s trying to wrap up all of the plot points from the previous games. I think CE was the tight-knit concept, 2 was the stage where they spaghetti’d that concept way out, and 3 was the point where they shaved down things to finish the series. A LOT of stuff got- cut isn’t the right word- simplified. But all of these things are still recognizable. You don’t play as the arbiter unless you’re playing with another person but he’s there next to you. They made the models slightly less detailed but thank god because 2 on original graphics was kind of nasty in the cutscenes. I think Truth got the same treatment, mostly because he has less screen time. He’s less detailed than he was in 2, but I do think he’s characterized the same.
He is very aware of how all of the forerunner tech works- he knew exactly where to go and what to do to open the portal to the Ark. He’s still manipulative, actively hiding the details of the great journey even when he’s got Johnson’s hand on the trigger. The line, “but that secret died with all the rest,” is an insane one, because doubly proves that he knew the heretic was right about the rings.
It would have been so cool if he was just as subtle in his manipulations as he was in 2, but by the time he gets to earth he is desperate. The Covenant got cut in half, he was just being chased around his own ship by the demon, and he’s scrabbling to activate the portal on his enemies’ homeworld. Then on the Ark he’s under the assumption that he’s already at the finish line, that he doesn’t have to keep up his facade of power for much longer. He’s still in character, it’s just warped by circumstance and squashed by the simplicity of the game.
Also for ODST- sir yes sir I’ll get on it right away O7 :3c
#tried to start writing this at ass o’clock nighttime#but thankfully had enough brain cells to let myself sleep on it#I’d really like a game from the perspective of the covenant prior to finding the first halo.#I kind of want it to have a similar premise as ODST too where you are just. some guy.#just like. ‘oh we’re in another war with another race#for the great journey that I may die before seeing’#I so badly want to see what the prophets were up to#sorry for the rant
