How dare you make me pick just one? I have way too many favorites.

I LOVE SCREAM!!!! So so good. Amazing subversions and uses of horror movie tropes. (Also Billy and Stu, my beloveds; big big BIG ODYDIO VIBES, and you KNOW I’m obsessed with that shit; could also easily work as DioSthene too tho now that I think about it)

Also, can’t forget the og Halloween. Instant classic and one of the quintessential slashers. So so good. Some parts are more campy now, but the climax still holds up to this day, and I will die upon that hill.

Another honorable mention is It (2017). The very first horror movie I saw in theaters at 16 😅 I went with friends and it was overall a fun time!

Now this next one isn’t a horror movie. I know! Who’d-a thunk it? It’s Hocus Pocus. It’s so iconic and a yearly watch for me. So so good. Winnifred is my favorite.

Also Halloween Town? Halloween Town. ‘Nuff said.

I love Benny. He’s such a character. I’d love to sit and just talk to him. Idc how much fare I’d ring up. He’s worth it, and deserves all my money.

Best part is, Drake is dressing up alongside me! I won't say anymore, but I will say, Drake is crossdressing for his costume!!

To Jim: Have you and “Negaduck” discussed what you’ll be doing on Halloween, if you’re on your best behavior?

I thought the answer to Jim's question would be better put as a story. Here we go:

Word Count: Approx 1000

Characters: Jim Starling/Negaduck

Title: Consorting with Demons

            Jim Starling waited in the dark. Nobody was there with him but he wasn’t alone. He heard himself breathing in and out, felt the blood pumping in his ears as the anticipation built, and strengthened his grip on the rubber covered handle. It was his lungs, his blood, and his hand that did all these things, but he shared them with someone else. Because it was for Negaduck that he was there.

            Dr. Hodgens had told him that this was a bad idea. Perhaps she thought that the excitement would be too much for him. Or maybe it was the fact that he was giving up control to his inner demon that she thought that he would lose himself. But he couldn’t keep his dark side down any longer. Negaduck was a volcano ready to explode when the pressure became too much. This was better. This would be venting some of the pressure, tiring the monster inside him so he wouldn’t have to wrestle with his subconscious every day.

            No, this was for the best.  Better to let him out now where he couldn’t do any harm then for him to break out and regret it later.

            Jim heard footsteps in the dark hallway. He barely raised his head when Negaduck took over, the desire to bring fear into young hearts bringing out the villain. This wasn’t the first time, but tonight would be the last. Then would be the finale, his encore, his coup de grace, and then it would be back into the dark recesses of Jim’s mind.

            Negaduck was going to enjoy every last minute of this.

            Through the dark and the fog, he could make out a group of five.

 The whispered voices told him it was a mixed group of boys and girls, teenagers by his guess. They were perfect.

            He reached for the ripcord on the chainsaw and pulled it with all his might. The chainsaw wasn’t new, so it chugged the first time. But the sound got the kids’ attention. He pulled it again, and the small motor sputtered then revved.

            The group of teens pulled together like sheep when a pack of wolves had them cornered. They held onto each other and he could hear whimpers and little screams from a few.

            Negaduck stepped out of his niche in the wall and raised the chainsaw, letting it growl that high, grinding scream that only a machine of this make could do.

            Then he laughed. It was a laugh that came from the dark side of his heart and from that locked chest in his brain. He hadn’t laughed like that for so long.

            The teens screamed as one, their voices bouncing off each other in a cacophony of discordant notes as they scrambled away, keeping as far away from the chainsaw-crazed duck as possible. And as their screams faded away, they turned into hysterical laughter from those who had been scared, but in a fun, safe way.

            And even though the terror he had evoked from the teens was just as real as the jungle habitats for tigers at the zoo were, it gave Negaduck a satisfying feeling, the same feeling one would get when partaking of their favorite food or scratching an itch that had evaded them for a long time. And as he rode that feeling, he could hear the next group of thrill-seekers coming his way.

            At the end of the night, Negaduck had scared hundreds of citizens of Duckburg and visiting tourists, and felt as content as a predator with a full belly. He hardly needed convincing to give Jim back control.

            Taking off the hockey mask and shutting down the chainsaw, Jim found his old friend and the owner of the haunted house attraction. His friend was a retired television director and writer, and when he contacted Jim about opening a Halloween attraction, he was more than willing to help. Although a majority of the actors there were local kids and college students, they had put on a grand display thanks to Jim’s tutelage and his friend’s vision.

            “I heard you really outdid yourself tonight,” his friend said as he shook Jim’s hand. “I have never heard so many screams as those kids raced out the back door.”

            “I told you, the more authentic, the scarier,” Jim said, patting his chainsaw.

            Unlike other haunted houses, the actors used chainsaw props that simulated the sounds decently, but it was never the same. Which was why Jim borrowed his gardener’s chainsaw for this role. Oh, the chain was taken off of it, making it perfectly safe. The props didn’t have that distinctive smell of gas and oil and of woodchips burning from the friction of the saw. The props didn’t have the heft of a real tool, which added a sort of stance in the actor. And of course, a plastic prop couldn’t give off that aura of danger that the real McCoy had, the pure vibration of that powerful motor as it roared to life.

            Authenticity was key. That’s what he taught his budding actors. If they weren’t scaring people with all the senses, were they really that scary?

            “People have been raving about my house of horrors all over on the Internet,” Jim’s friend said. “I can’t thank you enough for your help.”

            “It was nothing. Happy to help,” Jim said, thinking that he didn’t really do anything. It was Negaduck doing all the work.

            “You talked a lot of authenticity, but a lot of what you do is just acting,” his friend chuckled. “But I could have sworn we had a genuine psychopath in your role. You were like another person.”

            Jim smiled and nodded, taking the compliment for what it was. Authenticity is key.

            “I hope to have you back next year. I was thinking of doing a zombies theme.”

            “Sounds good. I wouldn’t miss it,” Jim said, shaking his friend’s hand one more time.

            And inside his head, Negaduck—sleepy and content—echoed his words. Yes, until next Halloween.

i see a post talking doom and gloom about how we'll never escape toxic masculinity. i think about back in 2017 when american girl released their first boy doll, and a review for him went viral in the collecting community. the review was written by a mom, who said they went into the store to get their daughter a doll, only to see their son's eyes light up like fire when he saw a doll that looked like him, and now every night he puts his doll in pajamas and rocks him to sleep. i think about the toddler in my daycare room a few years back who was obsessed with baby dolls, carrying them everywhere, and his mom proudly told us he uses his sisters' old baby dolls and wants to be just like them. that toddler saw another toddler crying one day and gave her the doll he had to cheer her up. i think about the eight-year-old boy i saw a few years back, excitedly waving around raya's sword in a target checkout line like all his dreams were coming true. there was a video on my instagram the other day of a little boy at disneyworld crying with joy upon meeting his hero, mulan. i think about the voice actor for bow in the she-ra reboot saying his nephews only wanted adora action figures. celebrity men are wearing dresses on tv now. last halloween i saw a little boy dressed as elsa. i went to go see spiderverse over the summer, and in the line ahead of me was a boy who couldn't be older than twelve or thirteen, bouncing and beaming, giddy with excitement over getting to see the female-led romance movie elemental. i think about the five-year-old boy at my library who breathlessly asked me where the pinkalicious books were, eyes widening when i had more on my cart, his mom explaining that he is all about pinkalicious and fancy nancy. i saw so many pictures online of boys and men dressed in pink to see barbie. teenage boys are gonna open their phones and see the man who wrote fucking game of thrones dressed in pink to see barbie. when i was a kid, a boy dressing in pink was practically a social death sentence. there are boys running around in pink on my street right now.

paddockgossip 2018 Halloween: Y/N and Max as Romeo and Juliet from the 1996 adaptation! Y/N has claimed this as one of her favorite movies in the past!

The 2018 party was the first one that really resembles what it still looks like today, they rented a club, a DJ, a photographer and more. The guest list was in the 100's for the first time!

No Party this year because of the global pandemic! The couple still requested that their friends donate to charities to help support those that lost their jobs due to the pandemic!

be honest with me. what are the chances of a hard launch in june

anon this question goes back years. and the thing is. we have been right once before.

you ask me this this time last year? fuck no. i might even quip that dapg would come back before dnp would hard launch. well. look at us now.

and even then, you look back on the content they started with in the revival--it honestly kind of felt exactly like where we left off, only a lot more explicitly queer (we stan). and then... trying to see without my glasses 2. and bang, spooky week happened. and that shifted the balance. we suddenly got slo-mo replays of handholds. day, after day, after day, finishing with the absolute masterpiece of halloween baking cinnamon rolls. in all honesty it was so much more than i'd've ever expected from them. truly another post-baking universe.

and it never really slowed down. suddenly we had cat prom photos, catboy butlers, catboy dan w/ phil photography credit, theyre 'wrestling' --running us full throttle into gamingmas, the first since 2017. and every day we had a new thing to freak out over: standing close. golf jokes. and then... pinof reacts. i don't know what compelled them to do it but i do have speculations. genuinely, i think they wanted to defang a lot of their history. we treated pinof 1, especially, with this... reverance. and it wasn't talked about too publicly--and dnp didnt do it either. so if they really wanted to move on, to bring down the walls, open the floodgates, define this new era: they had to throw the first stone. and they did. quite heartily too. suddenly this almost taboo part of their history--almost too intimate to be perceived--was on the table. and we were talking about it. joking about it. giving clear signals of 'we see it, it's okay.' and suddenly we existed in a post-pinof reacts world. of anything, i would've never predicted they would've done that. absolutely wild. follow that with it takes two being so chill and fond. incohearant being so blatant and heartfelt. trombone champ being unhinged and chaotic. the genuine and sweet complimenting of each other in the red carpet video. devan wedding... happilyphoreverafter... we crashed forward in time. never knowing what would be next. where is the line? how far will they go.

they teased us with japhan honeymoon and we knew 2024 would be wild. but we didn't know how much. from wdapteo 2023, to specific reminiscing about japan w/ devan, WAD happening, and phil playing a huge role in it all--from the orange carpet hosting, to 'ive been in *sex noises* with phil from the start!', to 'remote crisis manager phil lester', to dan saying he can stay during the thank you.

one of the biggest videos so far this year was the tiktok likes one. i will be forever haunted by the dog eating cheeseburger and willy wonka tiktoks--theres some things i was never meant to know. and yet. they tell us. explicitly.

every single video on amazingphil since the return of dapg has mentioned or featured dan. there's been a palpable shift in the way they interact. have you seen the way phil has been glowing in videos lately? this guy is on cloud nine all the time. it's really not hard to see why.

the energy of keep or yeet w/ dan... the absolute Lack of pretense of it all. phan twitter... watch your step baby girl...

dan and phil fucking crafts. talk about an unexpected return. legacy defining, one might even say. we're still in this tailspin of what everything means and they drop this insanely iconic video on us. from the storytelling to the production to the aesthetic--and its all capped off by explicit handholding. yes, it was part of the sacrifice. but hand in hand, the heart dan ripped from phils chest in one, and the knife that did it in the other... oh boy. we're really in it now. and then they put it on fucking merch. genius. truly no one does it like them.

and the foot has been on the accelerator since. dan and phil connections, shuffleboard & mocktails, getting deep slumber party, acknowledgement & approval of fics (yes previously given but never like this)--hell, even the sims today was wild for 'is their love language horrible banter 👀'.

you didn't ask for an essay but i gave you one. all of this to say, they've been moving the line. quite intentionally so. they intentionally revived their joint branding. they are 'dan and phil' again, and seem happier than ever about it, and i think that means something. they're saying things they never would have before--out of the closet or not.

as for june... 5 years since coming out is a big deal. so is this year being 15 years of dnp. hell, so is this year for being the first out pride month where they're explicitly a duo and regularly making content together. they're sentimental, there will be something.

my craziest idea is reacting to their coming out videos ✌️😔 --but i don't think it'll actually happen. as for more realistic, i could see pride merch. and however that goes will be significant, in my opinion. i'm excited and curious.

i don't know if they'll hard launch. it's hard to put all of the implications, complications, and speculations back into the box once it's opened. dan's talked about it before--wanting to be able to fuck up and not be publically executed, instead, being able to learn and grow and work it out. i think that's a very understandable stance to have. very grounded. we'd have to ask him if tour/dapg has changed that now. i do think he's had some sort of life epiphany--whether it's about that specifically, only he can say. but i think it's there.

even if i portray a lot of level-headedness, i wear my clown nose with pride. sometimes the only option is to go with whatever is funniest at the time. they're both jokesters, so they could commit to a bit like that. but it's also like, it can be too serious for them to want to joke about. i don't know. i think we're in this almost beautiful state right now--the we know you know of it all. there's no expectations, no demands to be met, no obligations of types of content. they're happy. we're happy. it depends on if they feel ready. if they want to. we'll be here, always.
