Latest details
■ Mature and Vice
Content Name: Downloadable content character set “Mature +  Vice”
Release Date: December 12, 2024
Price: $9.99 / €9.99 (two-character set)
Mature (voiced by Yu Shimamura)
Mature once counted herself among the Hakkesshu—eight fervent acolytes plotting the resurrection of the divine Orochi (the so-called “will of the earth”). The cruel beauty is fast and fluid in her offense, lacerating opponents with razor-sharp strikes. Her coldhearted realism is a far cry from Vice’s own personality.
Vice (voiced by Mayumi Saco)
Like Mature, Vice was once one of the Hakkesshu—loyal followers who sought to revive the dreaded Orochi. Her frail stature masks a decidedly violent ruthlessness, which comes to the fore in the way she fights: unbridled strength and brutal throws. Vice is intrigued by Iori Yagami, who carries Orochi blood in his veins.
■ Balance Adjustments for All Characters

Long ago, there was a legendary snake entity named Orochi, who was the guardian of nature. He created eight strongest warriors known as Hakkesshu. But as humanity began to grow, humans caused destruction and the balanced began to crumble. 1800 years ago, Orochi can no longer tolerate man's insolence and decided to wipe humanity from the face of earth. His clan and the human race wage war until three human clans, the Kusanagi, Yasakani and Yata, defeated and sealed him. 660 years before King of Fighters (KoF), Orochi's seal began to weaken. The three clan decided to move it's vessel into another location. Wanting to release Orochi, one of the Hakkesshu killed the Yasakani's wife to cause turmoil and distrust to the three clan. Under a disguise, the Hakkesshu approached the Yasakani head and informed them that it was the Kusanagi who murdered his wife as "attonement" for letting the seal get weak, then to fan the fire, the wife's corpse was found on the Kusanagi's homeland. This is when the Kusanagi-Yasakani rivalry started. Angered by these actions, the Yasakani begged Orochi for power to exact their revenge, learning the forbidden technique, Maiden Masher, the Yasakani later renamed themselves as the Yagami clan. As a curse with their bargain with Orochi, their once crimson flame was turned into bluish tint, the mothers of babies born die during child birth and each heir dies at a young age.
Tumblr media
Upon inspecting the history between the Kusanagi-Yasakani rivalry, but more importantly, the reason why Iori Yagami is always serious, rude and direct-to-the-point character, I would not be surprised if he already suffers from the effects of this 'curse,' since he is the heir to this cursed lineage that is demon-tainted without his choice. He is 21 as of current, but vile effects of entering the 'Orochi' state could make him vomit blood, unpredictably become violent until it causes blackout.
He cannot have proper and healthy relationships, because the Riot of the Blood state of mind would turn him into an animalistic homicidal beast, killing anyone near him, regardless of the relationship status.
While Iori is a handsome, charismatic Japanese man with long flowing red hair who can attract anyone and everyone, he has lived a rough life and his curse with the Orochi drives him insane. With a permanent scowl affixed to his face, he often acts withdrawn and antisocial towards others. He also can come across as nihilistic, with a negative outlook of life.
He also is frequently tormented by an Orochi identity that resides within him, who mocks and belittles him as its master. This vicious cycle of his "identity crisis," would irritate him greatly, until it angers him, causing him to physically react in a usually violent manner.
This is why he always drives anyone who wants to get friendly towards him away. He is a tragic character with a complex history which makes him an antihero, sometimes a villain, and most importantly, a relatable hero in the end.

Note
I have a lot of feelings about the Hakkesshu and I bet you do too! With a bunch of folks coming back to life, what do you think are the odds that Goenitz comes back as an antagonist in another game?
Oh, I'm quite sure that Windy Asshole will be back in the next game (maybe even as next DLC in XV). XV's endings were 90% fillers (lord, what even was 3ST's...) but it was clear Orochi Team had a plan, and Goenitz's presence will be, of course, required.
And you know what I'd LOVE to see happen and that of course it won't?
Seeing Chizuru going absolutely berserk on him.
My girl never truly had a chance to mourn Maki, and in the old KoF: Kyo manga she says to Goenitz she wants to kill him. And you know she has the skills to do it, firebois are physical powerhouses but her powers and skills put her on another, scary level.
Seeing her getting her revenge, or at least trying, would be a dream for me.
But of course it won't happen, so... *quietly sobs*
