“A present, even tho you’re homeless” LMAOO why she gotta cook Livia like that

NAHH the doll having Livia real pubes is insane(where can I buy it). Livia so 🐶 💔 but I love her to bits. It feels like a new chapter in everyone’s lives is finally starting with Sara properly relieving Livia of her duty as servant.

Sosuke and Sara aquarium daddy daughter date was so cute and I love how mind blown Sara was about conveyer built sushi. I’ve never been but I wanna take my mom one day since she loves sushi. The found family trope is one of my faves and we had some good ones this season, these two are right there at the top!

Brenda and her assistant trying to help each other win the same guy unbeknownst to each other will never not be hilarious 😭 I wonder how they’ll eventually find out? Maybe they both go to present their presents to sosuke and it’s just a big commotion lol. Always good seeing a Valentine’s chocolate making episode!

Suzuki sensei finally back in the show. Man he cleans up nice, hard to believe this the same dude who was sleeping on a cardboard mattress in the first couple episodes. Him turning Livia life into a LN but her not making any money off it is kinda crazy. Hopefully he invites her in as an assistant or consultant at some point

In the meantime, next week is the final episode and the preview looks like it’s gonna be a blast, plus Livia and the band are done with their debut song. I’ll be sad, but still can not wait! Good to have Haganai author back in the anime mix.

Reading a friend's reblog regarding fundamentalist Christianity in the United States acting as a death cult: why did I not think of that before?
Man, Ohkubo whiffed on that ending. A manga that I thought was supposed to be an extended critique on organized religion, and for years I never thought, "Oh, a religion based on death and rebirth, that requires someone literally dying for the religion to get created, and in some understanding requires a literal apocalypse and rapture for a new world to exist--are we talking about Christianity or Fire Force?"
And that's the thing: Ohkubo gets close--and then doesn't even try. At least when nuns show up in unexpected places, there is either some made-up religion that is analogous but not quite a real-world substitute (Haganai--yes, I am referencing of all things Haganai), or so exaggerated (Blue Exorcist, A Certain Magical Index) that any resemblance to an actual religion is tangential and just there for visual motif or, especially in Blue Exorcist, to mine for folklore.
Either would have worked for Fire Force--before the reveal that it was our real world all the time. At that point, it just becomes offensive: no response to actual Christianity or actual Judaism or actual Buddhism or actual Shinto or actual Islam--just picking off the meat from the bone of actual religions, divorced from real-world implications, all to have the whiniest of atheist tirades against organized religion before, oops, going to horseshoe that and decide a fundamentalist religious argument is actually totes cool.
As an allegory, Fire Force could have worked: make the Sol Church closely resemble but not be quite any real religion, so that you can talk about those real religions but get enough wrong about them because you aren't literally talking about those religions, you're talking about your fictional one. But nope, turns out the Evangelist was pulling the strings all along, that is why the Sol Church resembles so many major world religions, not only because she was behind the scenes influencing humanity all along but also because humans, not remembering the pre-apocalyptic world, took what little they could remember and just mashed it together.
Sidebar: Christ, that is even more offensive--"People barely remember their own religion, but they mash it with other ones, and this is the result--cool, right?!" No. This is not Greece borrowing from other religions, then later religions borrowing the Greek gods, or disparate regions starting to adopt each other's gods--this is Fire Force, presumably a post-2000s setting where those religions at that time are firmly established and remembered enough that, even with the world burning down, they would not forget that much. This is about as bad as that awful BC comic having the Star of David get extinguished and replaced with the cross.
Like, my fault for not noticing all of that earlier, but also, Ohkubo just whiffs on it because he comes across as saying, "It's a good thing the Rapture happened and that this death-obsessed religion turned out to be correct." What started as, "Maybe organized religion has flaws that we should address in order to improve as a species," instead turns into, "Nah, let's get closer to death so we can reduce this story to a fucking prequel" (yes, I am still on that shit).
Page Sigmund Freud, we need to talk about the death drive mentality in fundamentalist religions and how Ohkubo had next to nothing engaging or appropriate to say on the matter. (Hell, did Freud even come up in Fire Force at all? Or even some Dante references?)

The Interloper
So, expanding on something from Toradora! is Perfect, Actually. In a romantic comedy, there needs to be some sort of pressure pushing the principal characters together. If the premise or protagonists themselves don't fulfill this need, the work can make use of a character I call the "Interloper". This is the one who usually shows up last and whose role it is to keep the plot from being stable. In general, a character who shows up at the start of a later season is not the Interloper, even if their shenanigans have the effect of pushing the plot forward. Rather, the introduction of the Interloper is the point where the story has all the pieces in place. When it comes to making things happen the Interloper is the finger that pushes over the first domino.
To be an Interloper, the character's actions need to be both deliberate and effective. By this I mean they have to be causing trouble or progress on purpose, and the results need to be at least partially an intended result of that effort. For example, if a character is trying to sneak a truth potion into someone's food and it ends up in the wrong one, that's just shenanigans, not actual Interloper activity. However, if someone sneaks truth potion into someone's food and it results in the target voicing something they kept hidden (perhaps even from themselves), that's an Interloper at work. Some Interlopers start more on the shenanigans side of things and move toward actively shaping the plot later. Regardless of where they start, pretty much every Interloper ends a series making active direct effort to put the characters in place for the resolution.
Ami Kawashima of Toradora! is one of my two original examples for the type. She is the last of the five main characters to be introduced, and is initially presented as a certified Mean Girl. She starts her Interloping from her very introduction, treating Ryuuji like a toy in order to mess with Taiga. She goes through a lot of changes over the course of the series, but she never stops being the Interloper - the way she acts just changes. At first her trolling is more about her own satisfaction, but her actions are already pointed at stirring up the status quo of relationships. As the show goes along, her actions come to be motivated by the good of others, and she changes from merely stirring things up to openly pushing toward the conclusion everyone wants. At each phase her actions shape the plot, defining more than a third of the story arcs. Ami may not be the star, but there is no Toradora! without her.
Rika Shiguma of Haganai is my other original example. Haganai is a much more shenanigans-focused show than Toradora! and Rika is all about shenanigans. She's the designated sex maniac in the cast, taking everything in the most lewd way possible. In her introduction episode she shows up to the club room and propositions Kodaka right in front of everyone. This might seem like just a joke, but it's very clear that by saying that out loud, she forced everyone else in the room to reassess their own relationship with Kodaka in those terms. This is the end of the beginning of Haganai, the point where the plot starts to move incrementally forward. Most of the time Rika plays the shenanigans part of the Interloper more than the progress-pushing kind. However, at the end of the season one special episode, she is once again the one who prompts everyone to think about what kind of relationship they want with Kodaka. By the end of season two she pulls out all the shenanigans she has and uses them to beat some progress out of Kodaka whether he likes it or not.
Ai Hayasaka of Kaguya-sama: Love is War fills both sides of the role with aplomb. As the deadpan servant character, it is her duty to say the quiet part out loud. This alone has an Interloper effect by forcing the target (usually Kaguya) to at least react to something she's trying not to know. As things go along Ai starts to actively intervene in the core relationship of the story by challenging Miyuki's love for Kaguya directly. She does this by secretly acting as an alternate love interest. This is done with love for Kayuga, but also more than a few ounces of jealousy. Obviously shenanigans ensue, but the real result is Miyuki affirming, both to himself and to Ai, that Kaguya is truly the one he loves and not just the closest target of potential affection. By the end she's providing massive pushes toward resolution.
Working!! is another shenanigans-heavy show, and it has multiple characters who could be described as Interlopers. Yamada Aoi is the late-arriving character and primarily a shenanigans-type Interloper, but Souma Hiroomi is there from the start and makes the most active efforts of anyone in the show to move the plot in some direction or another. One of his tricks is slowing down the Yamada family arc in order to squeeze more shenanigans (and progress) out of Kirio's interaction with the Inami-Souta relationship. On the Jun-Yachiyo relationship he takes on a more classic Interloper role by pushing shenanigans with the overt intent of putting them in proximity as much as possible and pressuring Satou to make progress through his own actions.
It's possible in general for multiple characters to do Interloper things. The supporting cast of The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten is so frustrated with the lack of romantic progress that it turns into Oops All Interlopers. The closest to the usual archetype are Amane's mother, who designates Mahiru as her future daughter-in-law from the moment they meet, and Chitose Shirakawa with her elaborate and decisive progress-pushing.
There are also plenty of romcoms out there without an Interloper. In some none is necessary because the structure of the show provides constant forward pressure directly. In Fuukoi, for example, the central conceit of the "marriage practical" does this by providing both a motive to make changes and a deadline for action to be taken. In some cases, like Wotakoi and many shoujo shows, no Interloper is necessary because one or more characters (often the male love interest) are sufficiently driven by their own desire to need no encouragement at all. Romcoms that are all shenanigans tend not to have a designated Interloper (just think how many characters regularly cause problems for no reason in Urusei Yatsura but lead to only more shenanigans) and actually need to avoid progress-forcing most of the time.
Given that an Interloper is disruptive by their very nature and often a little antagonistic, you might think they're generally considered annoying. In at least the cases I've listed, that's far from the case - some of them are as popular as the protagonists, if not more. In a world of endless, directionless drivel, there is real appreciation for the character who makes stuff happen.

Top 10 Anime (That I've Seen) in 2020
Well now, it has certainly been awhile. I'm currently sitting at eight months too late for posting this, but, y'know, something something life happens. More accurately, I already made this list, but wanted to try out what response I'd get from Reddit. Turns out, they're not as cool as you guys!
Anyways, as the title states, this is not a list of my favorite anime that came out during 2020, but instead my favorite anime that I just so happen to see during that year. While it's fun to have an end of the year retrospective, I find that having a list in this format not only adds variety, but also helps bring attention to anime that might have been lost in the shuffle in previous years (I also don't have enough time to stay caught up in seasonal releases).
Honorable mentions:
Aggretsuko S3, My Hero Academia S4, Today's Menu For the Emiya Family, Interspecies Reviewers (yes, really), and I Couldn't Become a Hero So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job

10. Maid-Sama (2010)
In hindsight, I find it a bit funny that I wanted to watch something wholesome to kick off 2020. Anyway, Maid-Sama is about a high school girl that is also a no nonsense Class President and she kind of has to be at a school where, until recently, was an all boys school. While she kills it in academics and is good at shutting down any shenanigans from the male student body, her financial situation isn't the greatest and has to balance a job at a maid cafe along with her school-related responsibilities. She does her best to hide her employment there to keep up appearances, but is one day found out by one of the boys who happens to be a big flirt and, yeah, hijinks ensue. While this anime doesn't have too many surprises, our main leads bounce off each other well enough to keep me entertained. Nothing I haven't seen already in other anime Rom-Coms, but I think it has more than earned its place at the start of this list.

9. Haganai NEXT (2013)
It's a personal rule of mine when making these lists that I don't include sequels of shows that were in previous lists. While I DID see the first season of Haganai a couple of years ago, it didn't quite make it into the top ten at that time. Because of that, it meets the criteria for this year's list. While I found the characters were just as charming here as I did during the first season, the development of their relationships really took off. It's a shame that it will most likely not get a third season, but I'm happy with what ride this show gave me. But hey! At least I can read the light novels/manga to continue the story! Wait, nevermind, the Haganai fans on Reddit are saying that's a bad idea.

8. Engaged to the Unidentified (2014)
Based off of a Four Panel joke manga, Engaged to the Unidentified tells the story of a girl in high school suddenly getting some life changing news. As it turns out, her grandfather made an arranged engagement with her and the son of a family he knew. Next thing she knows, the boy in question, as well as his little sister, moves into her family's house! While the boy is unassuming at first, there may be more to him and his family than he lets on. Plain and simple, this anime has charmed me. There's a decent amount of drama and mystery despite the source material and I applaud it! Even though this also doesn't have much new to offer, even to the point where I would compare this to Maid-Sama, what made me pick this at the 8th spot were the color choices and animation quality. Give this a shot if you can!

7. Grimoire of Zero (2017)
It's a fantasy/adventure story starring a loli sorcerer and a huge, anthropomorphic white tiger man. I honestly can't say anything else. I won't be able to do it justice. That first sentence should intrigue you a lease a little bit. Read it, again. Please check it out. It's an underrated gem that no one is talking about.

6. ID: Invaded (2020)
Hey, here's something recent! Unfortunately, this is also not something I can say much about. There may not be too many deep characters and the secret bad guy isn't hard to figure out, but BOY is this anime cool! The best way to describe this series is that it's like the movie Inception, but instead of brain heists, it's brain murder mysteries.

5. Carole and Tuesday (2019)
A runaway rich girl has a fated meeting with an orphan and they decide to make music together...oh, this also takes place Mars. Joking aside, this show was something special with its music (a new song almost every episode no less), interesting setting (freaking Mars, dude), and endearing main cast. Shoot, the music itself would be top 3, maybe number 1, but what bogs it down is the show's second half. I can easily see myself watching this again someday, and maybe my opinion will lighten up, but for now, 5 is a dang good spot.

4. Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front - Babylonia (2019)
Part of me hesitates placing this high up on list due to this show being animated, fan service spectacle for Fate fans. However, that hesitation is overshadowed by the fact that I am a Fate fan myself and I can do whatever I want with this list. Even if you're not a Fate fan or play FGO, if you enjoy some solid fight animation, this is worth a look.

3. K-On S1 (2009)
I'll admit it, I might regret not watching the second season then putting the series on the list as a whole, but this how I've been doing these lists and I'm such a creature of habit. There's not much I can say about K-On that hasn't already been said. By itself it's an anime classic and one of Kyo-ani's biggest properties. It's a sweet and wholesome watch, but be sure to have some insulin within reach.

2. Princess Principal (2017)
Imagine you're working with a team of programmers trying to make a mobile game then all of a sudden someone asks to make a show out of it. You know, a show with different character motivations, plot, twist and turns and all that? Most might say that's just a shameless, shallow cash grab, but it turns out okay for Princess Principal. Sure, most might summarize this anime as, "cute girls doing espionage things," but with its cast, visuals, and interesting alternative timeline, it works! Apparently there's a new season or movie in the works and I am all for it!
1. Beastars (2019)
I was not expecting this to be number one, but with much deliberation (with myself obviously) this feels right. It tells a pretty unique story while showing itself to be the exception to the rule when it comes to 3D anime.....it being that it's actually good. While I acknowledge that shows like K-On are classics and deserves to be number one on many different lists, it didn't line up with my personal criteria like Beastars did. My biggest deciding factor is: Now that I've watched this, do I want more? It's true that while I'm excited to start K-On S2, Beastars intrigues me more and ever since season two was announced, I'm looking forward to that more.
Sorry again for this list being so late, but at least the silver lining is that the next end of the year list is about four months away (in theory)!

I remember you once made a post a few years ago about your top 3 animes every year since 2010, but it stopped at 2016. Care to finish the list for the decade?
I’ve always thought about doing that actually, so this was good timing. I’d also just like to highlight the following because I noticed that I had failed to make this clear in my original post - This list incorporates solely the TV series versions of anime, so any OVAs or movies will be excluded. That’s rather painful for me to do because a movie like A Silent Voice is not only my joint favourite anime movie of all time, but it would certainly be in my top 3 anime of the decade in general, but alas, this is the rule that I have chosen.
2010:
Special mentions to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Bakemonogatari, both of which finished airing in 2010, and would have both made the top 3, but they both started airing in 2009 :)
Honourable Mention: Seitokai Yakuindomo
Top 3:
3. Shiki
2. High School of the Dead
1. Nodame Cantabile Finale
2011:
Honourable Mentions: Ano Hana, Haganai: I don’t Have Many Friends, and Shakugan no Shana III.
Also a Disclaimer - I have not watched Hunter X Hunter (2011), I want to but I just haven’t gotten to it yet, but I’m pretty sure it probably would have made my top 3 for the year, or at the very least an honourable mention.
Top 3:
3. Fate/Zero
2. Mirai Nikki
1. Steins;Gate
2012:
Honourable Mentions: Ano Natsu de Matteru, Another, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!, Hyouka, Nisemonogatari, Psycho-Pass, and Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo.
Top 3:
3. Fate/Zero 2nd Season
2. Kokoro Connect
1. Zetsuen no Tempest
2013:
Honourable Mentions: Haganai: I don’t Have Many Friends NEXT, Hataraku Maou-sama, Suisei no Gargantia, and Tokyo Ravens.
Top 3:
3. The World God Only Knows: Goddesses Chapter
2. Monogatari Series: 2nd Season
1. Attack on Titan
2014:
Honourable Mentions: Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Grisaia no Kaijutsu, No Game No Life, Ookami Shoujo, Seitokai Yakuindomo 2nd Season, Knights of Sidonia, and Witch Craft Works.
Top 3:
3. Akame ga Kill
2. Your Lie in April
1. Parasyte -The Maxim-
2015:
Honourable Mentions: Grisaia no Rakuen, Monster Musume, One Punch Man, Owarimonogatari, Prison School, Shokugeki no Souma, and Knights of Sidonia 2nd Season.
Top 3:
3. Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season
2. Death Parade
1. Ore Monogatari
2016:
Honourable Mentions: Shokugeki no Souma 2nd Season, My Hero Academia and Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu.
Top 3:
3. ReLIFE
2. Boku Dake/Erased
1. Re:Zero
2017:
Honourable Mentions: Inuyashiki, Tsuki ga Kirei, Re:Creators, Tsurezure Children, and Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen.
Top 3:
3. My Hero Academia 2nd Season
2. Made in Abyss
1. Attack on Titan Season 2
2018:
Honourable Mentions: Goblin Slayer, Grand Blue, Hinamatsuri, Miss Caretaker of Sunohara-sou, My Hero Academia 3rd Season, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, Sword Art Online: Alicization, Steins;Gate 0, Teasing Master Takagi-san, and Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku.
Top 3:
3.That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
2. Violet Evergarden
1. Attack on Titan Season 3
2019:
Another Disclaimer - 2019 was VERY difficult to choose a top 3, probably the hardest choice in the entire decade, so I bolded the other three shows that were this close to making the cut, but just missed out, because I wanted to make it clear that they were far above the other honourable mentions.
Honourable Mentions: Astra Lost in Space, Carole and Tuesday, Cautious Hero, Fruits Basket (2019), Fire Force, The Helpful Fox Senko-san, How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?, Kaguya-sama: Love is War, OreSuki: Are You The Only One Who Loves Me?, The Quintessential Quintuplets, The Rising of the Shield Hero,Teasing Master Takagi-san 2, and Vinland Saga.
Top 3:
3. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
2. The Promised Neverland
1. Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2
And there you have it, my top 3 animes for each year of the last decade, with some honourable mentions. As you can probably already guess, I’m a huge Attack on Titan fan. It’s my favourite series of the last decade, and my 3rd favourite series overall, behind only Cowboy Bebop (2nd) and Code Geass (1st).

Manga the Week of 8/19/20
SEAN: The Yen Press juggernaut is back.
Let’s start with Yen. They have a couple manga debuts. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is the manga version of the popular light novel. This arc is a done-in-1 omnibus.
I Love You So Much I Hate You (Nikurashii Hodo Aishiteru) is an office romance yuri about two professional working women with a rivalry… or is it?
MICHELLE: I hope this is something kind of complicated, but I guess we shall see.
ASH: I do like that we’re starting to see more yuri with adult characters.
MELINDA: Yes, I do too.
SEAN: I Don’t Know How to Give Birth! (Shussan no Shikata ga Wakaranai!) is a comedic essay manga about the author struggling with her first-time pregnancy. It looks fun.
ASH: I’m super-curious about this one.
ANNA: I am too!
SEAN: Also from Yen this week: Teasing Master Takagi-san 9; Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization 6 (the final volume); Spirits and Cat Ears 9; So I’m a Spider, So What? 8 (manga version); an omnibus version of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica manga; Phantom Tales of the Night 5; Overlord: The Undead King-Oh! 4; Magia Record 2; Kakegurui 12; Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon: Sword Oratoria 12 (manga version); Hinowa Ga CRUSH! 4; Black Butler 29; As Miss Beelzebub Likes 10; Aoharu x Machinegun 18 (the final volume); and Angels of Death 10.
ASH: You weren’t kidding about the return of the juggernaut! And this is just the manga. Out of these, Phantom Tales of the Night is what has most of my attention.
SEAN: As for Yen On, it also has some debuts. Interspecies Reviewers should already be familiar from the manga and anime: this is a light novel version.
The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy (Seiken Gakuin no Maken Tsukai)… yup, another demon lord in a magical academy.
MICHELLE: How many does that make now? At least three.
SEAN: Also: Sword Art Online 20, Rascal Does Not Dream of Petite Devil Kouhai, Final Fantasy I*II*III: Memory of Heroes, Do You Love Your Mom (and Her Two-Hit, Multi-Target Attacks?) 6, The Dirty Way to Destroy the Goddess’ Heroes 4, Bottom-Tier Tomozaki-kun 4, and 86 ~Eighty-Six~ 5.
From Viz: Venus in the Blind Spot is a best of collection from Junji Ito, and also has the exact same meter as “Mirror in the Bathroom” by The English Beat.
MICHELLE: My brain automatically went to “Heroes in a Half-Shell.” Which is strange, considering I never watched that show.
ASH: Hahaha! Whatever the meter, I’m always glad for more Ito in English.
ANNA: Always a good thing.
MELINDA: I’m on board for this!
SEAN: Also from Viz: Urusei Yatsura 7, Ooku: The Inner Chambers 17, Golden Kamuy 17, and Blue Flag 3.
MICHELLE: Hooray for more Ooku, but after the cliffhanger at the end of volume two, it’s Blue Flag I am desperate for.
ASH: Oh! This is a good week for Viz. And a bad week for my wallet; I’m reading most of these.
ANNA: Yes, super anxious to read the next volume of Blue Flag.
MELINDA: Ooku! And okay, I’m behind on Blue Flag, but I definitely want to know what all the fuss is about.
SEAN: Vertical has the 3rd Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro.
Udon has a 3rd Rose of Versailles omnibus, meaning I’m already behind.
MICHELLE: I only just got volume two last Friday!
ASH: I got the second volume on Saturday, but go ahead and bring on the third!
ANNA: Me too!!!
MELINDA: Help!
SEAN: Tokyopop has a 2nd volume of The Fox and Little Tanuki.
