The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: وَمَنْ سَلَكَ طَرِيقًا يَلْتَمِسُ فِيهِ عِلْمًا سَهَّلَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهِ طَرِيقًا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَمَا اجْتَمَعَ قَوْمٌ فِي بَيْتٍ مِنْ بُيُوتِ اللَّهِ يَتْلُونَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَيَتَدَارَسُونَهُ بَيْنَهُمْ إِلاَّ نَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّكِينَةُ وَغَشِيَتْهُمُ الرَّحْمَةُ وَحَفَّتْهُمُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ وَذَكَرَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِيمَنْ عِنْدَهُ Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. People do not gather in the houses of Allah, reciting the book of Allah and studying it together, but that tranquility will descend upon them, mercy will cover them, angels will surround them, and Allah will mention them to those near him. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2699, Grade: Sahih وَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَتَضَعُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا رِضًا لِطَالِبِ الْعِلْمِ وَإِنَّ الْعَالِمَ لَيَسْتَغْفِرُ لَهُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَالْحِيتَانُ فِي جَوْفِ الْمَاءِ وَإِنَّ فَضْلَ الْعَالِمِ عَلَى الْعَابِدِ كَفَضْلِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ عَلَى سَائِرِ الْكَوَاكِبِ وَإِنَّ الْعُلَمَاءَ وَرَثَةُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَإِنَّ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ لَمْ يُوَرِّثُوا دِينَارًا وَلَا دِرْهَمًا وَرَّثُوا الْعِلْمَ فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ أَخَذَ بِحَظٍّ وَافِرٍ Verily, the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge. The inhabitants of the heavens and earth, even the fish in the depths of the water, seek forgiveness for the scholar. The virtue of the scholar over the worshiper is like the superiority of the moon over the stars. The scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. They do not leave behind gold or silver coins, but rather they leave behind knowledge. Whoever has taken hold of it has been given an abundant share. Source: Sunan Abī Dāwūd 3641, Grade: Sahih

مَا مِنْ خَارِجٍ خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ إِلَّا وَضَعَتْ لَهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا رِضًا بِمَا يَصْنَعُ No one leaves their house in search of knowledge but that angels will lower their wings in approval of what he is doing. Source: Sunan Ibn Mājah 226, Grade: Sahih

Imagine This:

You chose Deen over Dunya. You prayed 5 times daily, read the Quran, and followed the Sunnah. You avoided swearing, backbiting, and music. You honored your parents, kept good company, and maintained distance from the opposite gender. You were kind, stayed on the right path, resisted Shaytan, and always repented.

Then on the Day of Judgement, Allah said:

"Oh reassured soul,

Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing to Him,

And enter among My servants,

And enter My Paradise." (Quran 89:27-30)

By Allah if your tawakkul in Him (putting your full trust in Him) is true for any type of rizq in this dunya, tawakkul itself is by no comparison sweeter and even a better rizq than what you're hoping from Allah.

Be Mindful Of Allah

Ibn 'Abbas narrated:

"I was behind the Prophet (ﷺ) one day when he said: 'O boy! I will teach you a statement: Be mindful of Allah and He will protect you. Be mindful of Allah and you will find Him before you. When you ask, ask Allah, and when you seek aid, seek Allah's aid. Know that if the entire creation were to gather together to do something to benefit you- you would never get any benefit except that Allah had written for you. And if they were to gather to do something to harm you- you would never be harmed except that Allah had written for you. The pens are lifted and the pages are dried.'"

تأمَّل وصيَّة رسول الله ﷺ: احرص على ما ينفعك، واستعن بالله، ولا تعجز!

Reflect on the advice of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: “Strive for what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not give up!”

تجدها من أعظم الوصايا نفعًا، و أقلّها حرفًا، وأعزّها في العمل إلا بتوفيق الله ﷻ!

You will find it to be one of the most beneficial pieces of advice, the least in words, and the most precious in practice except by the grace of Allah ﷻ!

ويأخذ بعضها بأسباب بعض، فأكبر أبواب العجز عدم الحرص على ما ينفع، والانشغال بسواه مما يضرّ، والخروج من هذه الورطة لا يكون إلا بتمام الاستعانة بالحي القيُّوم.

Each part leads to the next: the greatest cause of helplessness is the lack of striving for what benefits and being occupied with what harms. The way out of this predicament is through complete reliance on the Ever-Living, the Sustainer.

Quran is not a painkiller, it's a cure. So do not expect sudden change and be persistent in taking it even if sometimes you are not into it with full mind and heart, like it is in the case of medicine.

It will have its effect at the right time and then it will be ever lasting.

Did you know this sunnah?

Rasulullah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam forbade us from plucking our white / grey hairs. He said:

It is also sunnah to dye their grey hair except with black colour. On the day of the conquest of Makkah, Abu Quhaafah (the father of Abu Bakr radiya Allahu anhu) was brought to the presence of Rasulullah ﷺ, while his head and beard were white. Rasulullah ﷺ said:

“Anger is like a lion; if it's owner sets it free it will eat him. Desire is like a fire; if it's owner starts it, it will burn him.

Pride is like fighting against a king to take his Kingdom, if it does not destroy you it will expel you, and envy is like showing enmity to one who is more powerful than you.

‘Umar Ibn al-Khattab رضي الله عنه said: ‘Three things make your brother’s love (wadd) for you pure: that you greet him when you see him, that you give him space in a gathering, and that you call him with his names that you love the most.’

The Refinement of Character by Imam Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi رحمه الله pg. 71
