Lucifer Misconception 

So a few days I had a self imposing question. Why would I a christian create a good character whose name is Lucifer Hades? Considering if some people would think I am turning the big bad evil personified into a hero, which is a big no no. So I did a little research. So today I am telling you guys about some misconceptions about Lucifer. I will also be showing you the difference between the two lucifers. 

First off the reason as to why one of my original characters is named “Lucifer Hades” is because in Mk deception Lucifer’s name was mentioned and it has been confirmed he was netherrealm’s protector god.  Although many people will have their own interpretation of Mk Lucifer, my lucifer is more based on Greek Hades (who just happened to be named Lucifer) Hints the last name.  In Greek mythology Hades was a neutral character who happens to be demonized by the media for sharing some similarity with Satan. 

The last name also refers to him being ruler of the netherrealm with the dead at his domains. Since he was born a God. My interpretation of Mk Lucifer is that he is an ally and a friend of earthrealm and is considered one of the good guys. He is kind, humble, loyal, generous and respectful. Which can't say the same about biblical satan. 

Now let's talk about the misconception. Lucifer is not a Hebrew word, instead Lucifer is the Latin word for “Light-bringer” “morningstar”, or "Helel" Lucifer is only mentioned once (Isaiah 14:12) in the bible, while every other time God calls him by Satan, devil, serpent or dragon. On top of that you have to remember that Lucifer wasn’t always an evil person. He was an angel created by God who had a purpose. He was beautiful, musical and shine like a star. At the time the name meant something beautiful. Until he fell. After that his original name was never mentioned again. (With the exception of Isaiah) 

With that being said it looks like Lucifer is a name that should no longer be associated with Satan since that name has been renounced from him. And yet the name has been associated with Satan thanks to theorists, media and cultus. If you're not convinced, I will provide an example. Hitler was a German surname.  But the name is associated with nazism and Adolf Hitler. Because of that the name Hilter has a bad reputation and nobody speaks nor uses the name in a positive light. The same is said for the name/word Lucifer. 

So in conclusion my Mk lucifer has no association with biblical satan since mk lucifer is basically hades with a slab of “name sake” paint and at the end of the day I can call one of ocs by that name because it is a name that existed prior to fall. But let face it he is just going to be referred to by his last name for most of the time. On the plus this could provide with some interesting funny future jokes. Lucifer meets some heroes and those heroes wonder if he had bad father given his unfortunate name.

Mk Headcanon: God festivals, names and Temples 

Every few hundred years the Five will each visit their favorite land of their chosen people. These special events are called Festivals of the Gods. There they have feast, celebration, entertainment and enjoy the rich culture that earthrealm provides. While they are there they go under different names. Sometimes Lucifer himself would join these festivals since he is close friends with the Five. 

Greece/Rome: 

The Greeks/Romans are Issac's favorite people. They love him so he loves them. Issac goes under the name of Poseidon/Neptune but he would also go under the name of Zeus. Issac has two temples, one in the middle of Athens the Capital of Greece and one on a small island on top of Atlantis. Fujin was named Anemoi, Hosanna was named Apollo, Orisha was named Demeter, Raiden was named Zeus and Lucifer was named Hades. After the fall of Rome Issac lost his people. Years of stress and neglect cause Issac to snap. Eventually after the events of Sub Zero Mythologies Issac left the pantheon hiding himself away in the deep ocean, making sea nymphs his chosen people. 

Japan/China: 

Raiden and Fujin being the storm brothers both share Japan. They also represent China and are worshiped by the Order of Light. The storm brothers had chosen the Japanese people as their people. The two storm brothers share one temple, the Sky Temple. Fujin’s and Raiden’s names stay the same. Hosanna was named Kojin, Isaac was named Suiijin, Lucifer was named Shiniak and Orisha was Inari Okami. But as the years went by and after the death of Hosanna and after Fujin left the pantheon, Raiden canceled the festivals. With Mortal Kombat becoming a priority for Raiden he chose the Shaolin Monks as his people and helped create the White Lotus Society. 

Africa:

Orisha had chosen the African people as his chosen people, but most importantly the Yoruba people. Orisha has one temple, but it was destroyed as part of his final wish. Orisha's name stays the same. Raiden was named Nkuba, Issac was named Mbura, Hosanna was named Kentsa, Fujin was named Domfe and Lucifer was named Gunbay. Orisha stayed on the patheon for as long as he could, he even helped Raiden create the White Lotus Society. However Orisha had been killed during Shinnok’s invasion and turned into an undead slave. His spirit was freed when Fujin killed him. Despite his death his people still worship him and his children kept his legacy alive. 

Middle East: 

Hosanna chose the Jews as his chosen people. Hosanna has two temples, one in Jerusalem and one on top of a volcano. The second temple is named the Sun Palace. Unlike the other regions Hosanna doesn’t allow his fellow Gods to keep their God titles. Instead Hosanna commands the other Gods to take the roles of angels and take names that are fitting of angels. The other gods were fine with this. Hosanna goes under the name of Yahweh. Raiden was named Michael, Fujin was named Gabriel, Orisha was named Rapahel and Issac was named Uriel. Lucifer was not allowed to join Hosanna’s festivals due to the demonizing of his character. Despite the other Gods being loved by their people the Israelites seem to hate their God due to a history of rebellion, pagan worship and evil kings. Hosanna is disappointed with them, sometimes even angry, but he loves them regardless. 

All the Gods share one Temple called the Temple of Element, which unlike the canon version is a large floating temple that travels across earthrealm. The Temple is the main place of counseling. After the sky temple was compromised Raiden used the Temple of Element as his main base above the sharia Ryu Fire Gardens, since the Fire Gardens couldn’t hold all of Raiden’s allies.

INKTOBER Day 13: King 

You know while I was drawing this I realize how difficult lucifer design was. I might redesign him in the future. Any ways here is the mighty King of the underworld. That was until he was dethroned.
