Do we know which year TGWDLM is set in? Because the office setting feels so old fashioned to me as an office worker. Like what do you mean your excuse for not handing in your report to your boss is the printers? Just email it to him? And Charlotte’s telephone, girl where is your headset? I know that covid sped up technology in the workplace so many I’m naive about how things were pre-covid. but the environment they’re portraying looks like an office of 20 years ago, not 5

Hcs that have come to my mind after recent asks youve gotten:

1) Tinky kicks his left leg like a dog whenever someone (Ted!!) scratches his belly. He also sticks his tongue out too, he basically becomes a docile housepet to his ler (which Wiggly thinks is a weakness Tinky needs to work on !!!)

2) Wilbur absolutely accidentally taught the lib about tickles. He never minded nor cared for it, but he kinda enjoys when it happens. I can see Wiggly being like "So... if I do this- you humans will laugh? Just like that?" And Wilburs like "Uhuh, usually yeah. Now it does differ from man to man, but you're on the right track pal." And not bat an eye abt whats abt to go down. (idk something about characters w accents that makes brain go agdkzljc-)

3) First time (or one of the times) Curt brought Tati home to his ma's place is when she found out he was ticklish. His ma, bein an absolutely sweet mother, either A) gives the two a room alone but warns Tati that Curt's got a sensitive neck & ears OR 2) is so excited to see her son, who in return is happy to see her, that she gets all gushy and starts grabbing his cheeks like a little boy. For a sec Curt forgets Tati's there, but when Mama Mega starts lightly tickling him he recoils in embarassed giggles.

Tinky ABSOLUTELY acts like a cute lil puppy when he’s tickled & it honestly endears Ted to him & that bastard is such a mean tease & is still pretty damn salty about his situation, so he really doesn’t hold back! Wiggly walks in on them & is like “EUGH! Have some respect for yourself!”

Bro you’re making me simp for the man decked out in denim head to toe😭 (I was when Black Friday first came out, it was just overshadowed by MacNamera & by now I lowkey forgot about him) but he’s so smooth about it & brushes it off to keep talking but Wiggly is hung up on that & his smile just keeps growing & is he closer? Wilbur’s definitely sure he’s closer. & now he’s starting to catch on & tries to back track & say how he isn’t ticklish but most people are, but it’s little kid shit, really, far beneath someone like you but Wiggly insists that he be taught about this “fun, silly little weakness you all share” & calls his brothers to help

Dude Curt’s mom is so embarrassing, idk how he can stand it! She loves him so much & just wants him to be happy but damn she doesn’t have to be so cringe about it! Tati is sooo amused & thinks it’s really sweet that he has such a great relationship with his mom (she’s totally not jealous or anything) & teased him about being a mama’s boy. But I feel like his mom would accidentally tickle him & then tell her how she’s “gotta be careful” with him because he’s “always been a sensitive one” & he’s like “OKAY MOM BYE” & once they’re alone & they get some things off their chest, Tatiana decides he could really use some cheering up & puts that information to good use

& bro I had no idea there were so many of us! It’s not like 5 years ago when it felt like I was out here all by my lonesome (god I can’t believe it’s been that long since tgwdlm)

Thinking about how 5 years ago I had to ask my mom in order to fund TGWDLM and get the digital ticket, and now I'm an adult with a job and I spent my own money to help fund NPMD and I've already preordered the digital ticket. Not to brag, I'm just proud of how much I've grown over the years and how much I've been able to support the shows and people who bring me so much joy. Anyway, happy opening night to NPMD, and happy 5 more days for those of us getting the digital ticket!

12. MAMD - ngl this show is pretty hilarious just not quite as memorable as the others imo and i say this because i don’t remember it all that well past the one time i saw it a few years ago

11. Ani - also very funny and i’ve seen it multiple times and for whatever reason the line “it’s a humorous play on words... that’s where the comedy comes in” is in my daily vocabulary. it’s probably the show i quote the most just because of that one line. and it’s a star wars parody that gives me feel good 80s movie vibes and i love that. but something has to be this far down and i’m sorry it’s gotta be Ani. 

10. Black Friday - idk if it was because i was hyped after tgwdlm and had high expectations but honestly the only Starkid show that I kinda didn’t like right away. like i love Dylan and his monologue-y songs but they felt so out of place I was just taken out of it. That being said, all the songs slap and I’m so glad they’re all on spotify so I can add them to my playlists. It was also a bit darker and required some world building and honestly I think I just wasn’t expecting it. Probably in reality I’d rank it same level as Ani, but again I LOVE the music thank you Jeff Blim.

9. Firebringer - Very fun show. Also had high-ish expectations because Meredith and Lauren were leads and I was excited for the first female led show and maybe they weren’t exactly met at first, but got really close, and then I came around afterwards. It’s funny and I loved all the characters and the music is so good and fits the theme really well. 

8. A Very Potter Senior Year - every time i watch this (particularly near the end) i’m in tears. It’s so good because Harry Potter is saying goodbye, and the AVPM trilogy is saying goodbye, and the Harry Potter movies/hype was declining, and like I watched it again when I graduated high school and my point is there is a lot of emotional charge at the end of the show, but the whole thing is so fucking funny. I’m gonna be honest though, least favorite of the three AVPM shows, not just because of the way they filmed it but because I don’t remember most of the character conflicts and stories for this show.

7. A Very Potter Musical - I mean it’s really the first one that got them attention how can you not love avpm? Great comedy, great music, great show. I think I lied earlier, I probably quote AVPM more often than Ani.

6. Starship - The Little Mermaid meets aliens, I love it. Also, very great music, arguably the best villain songs of any starkid show have to go to Pincer and Junior. Also one of the best love songs?? An incredible I Want Song. And like the planet of bugs they create is so bright and colorful even though they’re limited by budget and the stage, etc., and all the puppets are so cool. It’s just a very good show that is very slept on please watch Starship.

5. Trail to Oregon - So this came out when I was learning about the Oregon trail  so this was pretty fun for me. I think this was probably the second or third show I ever watched (first being AVPM) so ngl I have some bias towards it, but the music is good and there are only a few characters to keep track of so I remember them pretty well. The gag of Joey playing all the other characters in Independence is just insanely fun to watch (a performance really only bested by brian in solve it squad) and I don’t care how “mature” I’m supposed to be, I will always laugh at the fart jokes at the end of the show (btw, watch with captions it’s so entertaining).

4. Holy Musical Batman - yes at Batman references, yes at having a similar story to the lego batman movie, and yes at Jeff Blim playing a psycho character. It just feels very classic cartoon inspired, especially with all the puns (which if you didn’t know is a humorous play on words, and that’s where the comedy comes in). I rewatched part of the show the other day, and honestly still makes me laugh as if I’d never seen the show before.

3. A Very Potter Sequel - a glorious blend of all the comedy of AVPM and the emotional heartache of AVPSY. It doesn’t have a Voldemort tap sequence, which the other do have, which is unfortunate, but we do get Stutter, so I’ll let it slide. Also, one of my favorite opening songs of a Starkid show. I just love the show. And I mean I made a poster of Umbridge’s rules that’s hanging in my room I’m pretty committed to the show lol. 

2. Twisted - It’s DISNEY and it FEELS DISNEY wtf. I love the twist on Aladdin. I love all the references the show makes.Definitively the best love song in a Starkid show. The emotional climax is so good. All of the twists and explanations about Jafar and Aladdin are great. Jim Povolo’s character is the best character even though i can’t remember his character’s name. THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD. For the longest time this was my favorite show and sometimes it is but at the moment I’m writing this I’m in the mood for the other show.

1. TGWDLM - YES. It may be because I’m working on tgdwlm fanart rn, but yes, I adore this show. Music slaps, story is so good, there is so much comedy, and there is so much analysis I can do about Paul and Emma and the apocalypse in general, it’s just wonderful. No wonder a ton of people got into starkid after this show, it was sooooooo good. I watched this when it premiered on youtube, while I was on vacation and could’ve been doing anything else. And the fact that it didn’t have a happy ending like every other show up until this one was so shocking to me and it just makes it so memorable.

CANON FOR THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW:

okay so the guy who didn’t like musicals is a musical about, get this, a guy who doesn’t like musicals. how do they think of these titles ? but him hating musical theatre is all very well and good until a meteor hits the local theatre, and their island slowly becomes infected by singing alien-zombies. the whole thing is on youtube ( professionally shot and legal and shit. it’s a starkid production and they truly do come through for us ! ) so maybe watch it maybe ?

emma is said musical hating guy’s love interest and eventually the show’s final girl 

she works at the local coffee shop as a barista, and loathes her job more and more with each passing second. the customers are vultures, her boss is an ass, her manager is ten years younger than her and a pesky theatre kid, the pay sucks, and the tip jar reads ‘tip for a song’ and she’d much rather take a cactus to the eye than follow the instructions of a piece of paper 

all she wants is to avoid not dying in her hometown, and spent the first eighteen years of her life trying to leave the island, and only returned when her sister died. she always invited emma home to make her be apart of the big events of her life, but emma never went, and her sister’s death made her realise she was missing out on too much and not doing anything with her life. so she moved back home and enrolled in college and decided to start fresh

but then uh whoops zombie apocalypse decided to rain on her parade and take the lives of her friends

FUNKY RP STUFF:

i put a lot of ( probably too much lmao ) thought into which of my characters would have their memories and which wouldn’t, but emma becoming aware of the loop is LITERALLY so in character for her. tgwdlm is kinda meta anyway, and ( SPOILERS ) the show ends with emma talking to the audience and trying to get someone to help her. she literally screams ‘WHY ARE YOU ALL CLAPPING ?!’ as the rest of the cast take their bows, it’s highkey brilliant ( / SPOILERS END ) and then the whole thing starting again and THAT being emma’s life just,,,, fits ? and of all the characters, she’s the one smart enough to figure it out and break out and try and go against it, and then eventually ending up here. but ya she’s honestly perfect for this rp lmao

she’s trying to Deal with all of that, and what happened during the apotheosis, but also build a life for herself now she’s,, Real ? so she’s studying exactly what she did in canon, botany, with the exact same end goal, of starting a pot farm. while her life may have been a musical, she’s still the same and her motivations were still the same. plus, having to find a new life goal is just one big existential crisis she doesn’t want to deal with. and she’s still a barista, but maybe somewhere that doesn’t involve singing. since,,,, y’know, the last time people sang around her, everyone died and then tried to kill her

still emo about paul, trying to Deal with all of that too. honestly becoming deviant has just been a Lot for her, which is saying something when her last memories beforehand were here running away from singing zombies with blue shit dripping out of their mouths

probably needs a roommate or two if anybody is game, that could be fun ! she’s working her way through college so girlie has, like, zero money and needs all the roomies she can get 

while being snappy and intolerant, emma’s somehow......likeable ? she’s loyal, and sympathetic, and doesn’t put up with people’s crap. she’s got a pretty good noodle on her, and she’s very quick on her feet. but tbh she’s also crabby and grumpy and snarky but,,,, also the least intimidating woman ever. she’s a 5′0′’ soprano and can be really soft, there’s nothing intimidating about that

this is she! if anybody thought this was gonna be eloquent or even,, Coherent, i’m sad to say you’re mistaken, bc i get too excited and just !!!!! words !!!! characters !!!! but this is my lauren lopez fc, sofia, and here’s a fun thing about her choice of fc: when i told my friend i was thinking of using her for the plot in question, i also sent her like a link to a couple of gifsets ( probably like,,, something from the judas interview or something?? ) to be like !!! look, cute !!!! and she replied saying she was glad i sent her the link bc she searched lauren’s name on this hellsite and the first thing that came up was a gifset from avpm from that scene where draco’s like ‘and you have to be my slave for a whole day staring now!!!!’ and voldy doing the Iconic ‘yOU LITTLE SHIT’ so … we were off to a good start from the beginning sjsjsjjns. but anyway, sof’s one of my favourites !!! she was made for a lost mumu, and essentially her story is that she was in australia with her boyfriend to meet and pick up said boyfriend’s nephew after the death of said boyfriend’s sister, and they were heading home with this three year old toddler sofia’s never met before when oops plane crash yikes. but i also play her in a regular ol’ town verse where everyone is happy and mr toddler ( whose name is panda and he’s iconic ) gets to stay with his mum ‘cause yay she’s still alive, and sof and her boyfriend get to have a nice relationship with her and panda and it’s a good time.  

pre-island ( or just,, regular ol’ times in town verse!! ) she’s a dance teacher ( which feels SO lazy since lauren’s a dancer, and usually i’m not someone who does that kinda thing but i liked it for sofia and it’s mostly a coincidence shsbsbshs ) who fell into Teaching accidentally after a lot of missed opportunities and things falling through professionally, but lowkey loves it. and just loves her life in general???? she’s happy??? loves her tree of a boyfriend??? honestly the one (1) time i keep a fc’s height for a character, it’s the one time their romantic partner ends up being an entire foot and four whole inches taller than them. it’s,, hilarious. 

look at that shit!!!! it’s ridiculous and i love it!!!! but they’re also rlly cute :’))) we love a loving, committed couple who don’t wanna get married but wanna be together anyway and both have the same wants in life and just seem to Fit, including a plan not to have kids until the suddenly get a three year old whoops. tbf he was like ‘this isn’t what we planned and what you want so if you want to leave it’s all good’ but sof was having none of that,,, even though she said a similar thing to him a couple years earlier when she found out some stuff about herself but ANYWAY. even if she hadn’t decided to stay she’d still be like BITCH WHAT KIND OF PERSON LEAVES SOMEONE JUST AFTER THEIR SISTER DIES but……..i digress. but sof’s always just been a kinda,,,, Get On With It person??? like she can just,,,, get on with things and accept it and move with it and carry on with life?? wish i could relate lmao. so she just accepts it as part of her life and moves on, and no matter what was going on with her internally she just kind of accepted that this was their life now and they’re gonna raise his nephew. and that attitude continues after the crash too??? like after the initial shock is gone, she’s Useful because she can just……. get on with it as best as she can??? it was kinda mean of me to purposefully make her birthday like a week after the crash and yet,,, here i am. but can i just say!!!! i don’t trust my friend to be kind to these three characters on the island!!!!! ya hear that @dulcerps I DON’T TRUST YOU NOT TO HURT OZZY ON THIS ISLAND. I DO NOT!!!!! panda is Safe but i still don’t trust you!!!! i feel like you’re up to somethin!!!!! snake!!!!!!

but anyway she went from living a gr8 life and going from being that obnoxious gym couple with her boyfren to fighting off Others and wearing the same pair of shorts for like two weeks straight in the beginning. all while trying to make this kid not hate her. she’d never really been around kids before panda?? it’s not to say that she doesn’t Like them, she just hasn’t been around them?? her brother is younger than her but they’re still close enough in age that they Grew Up Together and when he was a kid she was a kid too???? and they’re the youngest in the family pretty much, and none of her friends had kids yet or anything???? and the kids she teaches @ work are like,, pre-teens to teens, and she just talks to them like they’re adults and that’s her Thing and it’s why they like her??? like it’s the whole ‘u don’t treat me like a kid, you’re cool’ thing??? so she’s tryin really hard with panda but,,,,, eh, she’ll get there. even though she’s only now realising how much she swears, and that she can’t say his real name in a serious sentence bc she thinks it’s so ridiculous.

Taking a break from retirement. I don't follow this blog (because the posts here can get a bit too intense sometimes), but when I get bored and miss StarKid (or check if my anon posts got published or reacted to), I do read the posts here. Here’s what I think about the current posts I’ve read.

Why do people who apparently dislike or hate Robert Manion still talk about him, even though the events happened a few years ago? Please ask yourselves this. Sure, he committed his wrongdoings back in 2020 and/or 2021, but is three years not enough to stop talking about it? People generally know his actions were bad. Even those who don't know him or know nothing about SK understand that harassing someone romantically and sexually online and saying insensitive or uninformed things is wrong. (If I miss something or I'm being vague about it, it’s because I avoid that Robert topic and vaguely remember what he actually said online. I don't care to read about them again because I know what's right and what's wrong.)

I don't even hate Robert, probably because I left the fandom when he joined. When I came back, he was no longer a part of SK.

To those who are new, please read Robert's fandom wiki page and look up information online about why he left and the controversies surrounding him in SK’s past. There’s no need to add to the discourse about someone whom StarKid carefully mentions online because of what happened—trust me, there’s already more than enough awareness about it online.

I remember they did not even tag Robert in their IG post about the Twisted anniversary, but they did post his character's photo. Joey briefly mentioned him while talking about TGWDLM or BF during the CC Kickstarter livestreams.

Note, expressing that you miss or wish Robert had stayed because you enjoyed his performances will likely attract replies about what he did, and they often repeat the same things. It’s probably best to avoid this.

He was a good and funny performer, then he made some mistakes, and he left SK.

And yes, Robert still talks and works with Jon Matteson and maybe a few other SK members. They probably made amends. Deal with it. It's their lives and friendships.

P.S. I block Robert Manion tags here on Tumblr, but I’m still curious why he is still discussed by fans as a person and what he did, rather than just as a performer. I can understand fans talking about his past creative work with SK, like how good of a performer he was and about his characters.

P.S.S. This is not an invitation to add more discourse or anon posts about him. If you want to react to this, there’s a comment section under this post and I might reply.

Will there still be a lot of discourse/posts about Rob’s actions in the next 5 or 10 years? Hopefully not, as we all get older and the active and older SK members will be in their 40s or 50s. Heck, they might even talk about him again and maybe open up about what he did (again) as a reflection, kind of like a deep-dive history documentary, when SK reaches their 20th or 30th anniversary or something.

I could say more about this but I'm just gonna say the biggest on my mind after reading this

I think a big reason people still talk is actually to inform fans who don't know, also it can be hard to seperate his performance from him, art vs artists

First off although I can understand being nostalgic for before this all happened sure I'd honestly hope no one who knows what happened actually truly wishes he stayed, he sexually harassed someone in starkid, I don't think he should stay in the same company as the person he harassed. Second yeah people commenting about what he did are going to repeat the same things? Bc they are explaing what the bad things he did were? You can't add on or makr stuff very different when explaing what the bad things someone did were.
