He doesn't know how it went wrong so fast. He never fucking knows.

He never knew how it was that his dad could ruin everything as quick as upending a box, shaking out the bits of Jamie - smacking the box for good measure to knock out all the stubbornly clinging fists - until he was nothing better than something his dad went and spilled on the floor. A fucking pile of Legos for people to dodge around less the sharp pieces of him prick the the soft padding beneath their feet.

"Everybody, shut up! Jamie, Jamie, bruv, breathe. Breathe. In and out like. Can you do that? Does it hurt?"

It felt like being underwater, it did; or like they were in an indoor pool. Sweat all dried until it was cold and clammy. Everything echoed, a public's worth of voices shouting to be heard over each other ("What did you hold me back for?!" "Me?! You were right there!") while the walls bounced everything back, and over the din came Colin's voice, both muffled and clear- "I heard something snap."

Dr. Sharon was going to be so disappointed with Jamie. Jamie was going to walk back into her office with the crumpled up portions of himself bundled in his arms, and she was going to frown, polite and quiet and judging while Jamie lined up all the pieces in front of her, trying to explain to her what he'd done wrong and begging her to show him how to make it better.

"Beard's got it from here. Him and the boys in security 'll figure it out. Now, how's our- is that blood?"

Because he was a coward, he'd serve the best parts of himself first. The chunk of him that hadn't meant to let any of it happen. The lump that understood how his presence on the pitch led to the team losing. The slice of him that had honestly, stupidly thought his Dad would be so caught up in his own team winning that Jamie's own garbage performance would go unnoticed (amateur thinking to go with amateur playing). The ration of him that hadn't been rational at all - had opened his mouth to argue when he knew better, didn't he, lad? Should know better by now. He hadn't been given the signal. Couldn't be trusted with his own words - had to wait for someone to tell him it was alright, otherwise look what he'd get?

"Tartt? Are you listening?"

He'd show Dr. Sharon the slab of him that wanted to do right by the team, and she'd tilt her head to the side and remark that the slab looked a bit spoiled now, didn't it?

Something brushes his shoulder, a touch so lacking in violence it doesn't register as real.

"Come on. Jamie. You need to let us get a look at you. We need to know where you're hurt."

He never fucking knows.

Something strong grips the back of his neck. There's nothing left of Jamie now; just bundles of raw nerve endings telling him run and hide and the dislocated parts of his body reporting back that they're not capable of either right now. His lungs aren't working right, and there's no running or hiding anymore - there's just smaller. Tugging close the pieces of himself - the broken tiles of himself - and sweeping them close in his arms where they're less likely to get shattered any further. There's retreating, dropping deep into the recess of his head, anything to spare himself from witnessing the ugly spectacle he's made.

The grip on his neck disregards what he wants. Cups the delicate space below his jaw between two hands. Examines him while Jamie flutters in his grasp like a moth avoiding the light.

"Jamie, this is serious. Tell me where it hurts, and be specific. We need to know if we need to get you to hospital."

Point to any piece of him, where his dad's gone and left him on the ground.

"Fuck it, he’s not answering. Somebody get the medics."

Bridgerton Part 2 predictions

I haven't gotten Part 2 yet and I am eagerly waiting until tomorrow. Before I get it I just want to put down my predictions for Part 2 before I am spoiled and the story goes in a completely different direction. I want to look back on this to see just how wrong or right I got.

Firstly, I think that no one is going to really be surprised about Polin except for maybe the Featheringtons who thought Penelope would die a spinster. I hope that Colin takes Penelope away, has words with Portia, and they just jet out of there. The less Featherington involvement the better I say. If Portia stays involved, she's going to cause some drama or have bad relationship advice or something. I hope Penelope has a stand up for herself, you never treated me right moment.

Secondly, I think the major plot and drama is going to involve Eloise in Part 2. We have been spoiled with her threatening to reveal Penelope and I think the past seasons have been leading to their showdown or major makeup and reconciliation. One of the things I hate about the book to tv switch is what they did to Peneloise and their relationship, but if it's for a reason and the drama in Part 2 is well written and pays off, I will change my mind. I really want them to be friends again and if it takes Lady Whistledown being shut down or revealed to do it then so be it.

Thirdly, I want more Kanthony and more Francesca and John. There was a bunch of Kanthony in episode 1 but it petered out and John and Francesca are super cute. I will get to see more of them and I am happy about that. Also, I wouldn't mind a Edwina/Prince cameo or reference- I want to know they are doing well!

Fourthly, I really don't care for Lord Anderson, so they better make him more interesting in Part 2 or have that storyline peter out because snooze. Don't waste Violet Bridgerton on a lame match, better make it a spicy one!

Lastly, and I know this one will come true is that there will be lots of cute and sexy Polin moments that will make me squeal with delight. I am loving this season and love the two mains, the friends to lovers story, etc. There will be kisses and hugs and fighting and making up and cuteness and emotion and everything and I can't wait!!!

Another installment of the reluctant male re-watch.

We completed episode 4 and 5. There was more scoffing, a few chuckles and less questions. He seems to be fully engaged. Which is a good thing as the Reluctant Male is leaving on Friday for work in another country for 6 weeks. So we've only got a few days to get through the next few episodes. Fingers crossed we can get the last three episodes in.

Observations in no particular order:

1) "I'm not a huge fan of this couple, she keeps talking him into marrying her sister when he has admitted he wants no such thing. It feels repetitive. " I sort of understand where he's coming from. They have great chemistry but it does tend to drag out. Daphne and Simon were married by episode 5 and struggled after whereas Kanthony are in will they/won't they purgatory. But man, good chemistry!

2) "I don't really get the problem with Eloise. Is she planning to marry this guy and if that happens, what will happen to her?" I explain that she marries someone else and I DO spoil it and point out Phillip Crane which confused him majorly as Marina is still married to him. "How are they gonna pull that one off? So this Theo guy and her don't do anything? And why is Penelope watching?"

3) "this guy has to be bi cuz they give him moments of him talking and looking at guys but then he's all out having sex with every woman he meets. He seems pretty free, he's like the anti-Anthony." Which is a great observation about Benedict (I'm kind of blown away at his views sometimes, he's usually pretty clueless in life...)

4)"I like the olive joke. That's the first time he seems to be relaxed and making jokes." I then reminded him of the farm joke and taking his stick out which he replied that he wished Colin was always like that, which I totally agree. He seems more like book-Colin in those moments.

5) "ouch, that was harsh! Poor Colin. Guy seems out of touch... and sort of not part of the show or something. And you say his storyline is season 3? I don't know... how do you turn his character from this guy to like in love with Penelope cuz right now he seems stuck on the other girl." And with this statement, I tried warming him up to Colin and Penelope's upcoming season but so far, he doesn't see it. I shudder to think what he'll say after Colin's final remark about Penelope in the last episode. Breaking my Polin heart he doesn't see the potential... yet.

6) "I like Daphne more this season. Way more."

7) "the Featheringtons are a mess! I like their funny moments but what a disaster family!"

I point blank asked him for his favourite characters. Right off the bat, Portia is mentioned. As well as Lady Bridgerton (which consider me shocked cuz he never really mentions her while we watch). He claims he likes the artist brother the best. He is apparently not a fan of Anthony or Lady Danbury (who he did like in the beginning). He thinks the actress who plays Kate is hot, 🙄such a guy thing to say but also, he's not wrong.

Series Masterlist

Remus' words rang in her ear as she waited for Colin to return home. Why didn't he tell her about the conference meeting at Cambridge? When Colin finally got him, he didn't even kiss her forehead like he used to do. Y/n heard him complain about work and his colleagues. It hurt her more when she heard him complain about them like this. She didn't mind that he wouldn't acknowledge her but to hear him talk about people who he had been working with for years before getting the promotion really concerned her. They were his best friends once.

Y/n didn't even get a chance to bring up the conference when she heard him snoring, his luggage wide open. It was clear. He had left it open for her to pack his bag for him. Y/n sighed, it was almost midnight, and he obviously had to leave early in the morning. She tucked him in and started packing his bag.

Remus couldn't help but smile. Y/n had no reason to help him out. He felt so guilty taking lunch from her, but when she smiled at him, holding his hand and assuring him it was not a big deal.

He swivelled on his chair as the smell of a home-cooked meal hit his nose. His stomach grumbled as he opened the lunch box. All his guilt washed away as he ate the food. Remus' hand trembled as he hungrily ate the lunch. He didn't have to worry about Colin for a week. He can enjoy his lunch and do his work peacefully.

Y/n was actually surprised that Colin never noticed her preparing two lunch boxes. Weeks went by, and Y/n found herself looking forward to lunchtime. She noticed Remus started to look better now that he was having a proper meal.

"You are spoiling me" Remus smirked at her when she handed him the lunchbox. Y/n shook her head.

"It's not too much, really. If you want, I can teach you to cook food that requires minimum ingredients and time and will also fill your stomach." Y/n finally looked up and bit her cheek when she saw him smile.

"I can't thank you enough. You're really doing me a big favour. But I have to ask, why are you helping me out?" Remus looked into her eyes. His fingers ached to brush the strand of her hair.

"I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried the way you had a panic attack at the party. You looked weak. At least now you look a bit healthier. You are having a proper meal one time of the day."

"Well, my workload has eased off now that Colin has gone to the conference....no offence." Remus quickly said, not wanting her to know how much he hated Colin.

"None taken." Remus looked at her as she said that, staring into the distance. He didn't realise he was smiling like a fool, looking at her as the wind gently blew her hair as if teasing him that it could touch her, whereas he could only dream of ever touching her like that.

Y/n looked up to see him looking at her, and she felt a sense of deja vu. She couldn't figure out why even after being with Colin so long, he still felt like a stranger, but as soon as she met Remus, she felt like she was home.

Y/n saw his hand that was resting on the bench. The scars filled her heart with worry. She clenched her fist, resisting the urge to hold his hand and trace his scars with her fingers.

Remus cleared his throat. "So your cooking lesson offer still holds?" Y/n smiled. "Yeah, that way, you won't have to take lunch from me."

Y/n looked down, trying to look busy in thoughts to avoid his gaze. "Don't worry. Like I said earlier, they are easy recipes and will take less time."

Remus did feel guilty for taking lunch from her, but it was the only way to see her. He was feeling so many emotions, and one of them was anger. Why did someone like Colin deserve her? Colin can love her but doesn't crave her like Remus does.

"So... I'll see you on Sunday? Your place?" Y/n waited for his response when reality dawned on him. She will be at his home. It would be just the two of them. He didn't realise he smiling like a dork until she heard her giggle. He felt his heart warm up at that sound. Everything about her made him feel like he was remembering a memory he treasured. Has he met her before?

The afternoon sunlight shone through Remus' window while he snored with his limbs outstretched on the bed. He slept late last night trying to complete his work before the deadline, so he could focus on Y/n.....and her cooking. He reminded himself she would be home. His joints were aching, making his sleeping schedule worse.

Remus didn't hear the doorbell the first time. But he jolted up from his bed the second time it rang, remembering Y/n was supposed to come home today.

He forgot all about his joint aches as soon as he saw her standing on his porch, the sunlight working as a spotlight on her.

"It's 12:40 pm Mr. Lupin."

Remus thought he would collapse on the floor if he had not put an arm on his door. The domesticity in her voice made him want her more. He envied Colin. He had the privilege to see her in his every waking moment.

"I'm sorry. I worked late last night and forgot to set an alarm." He cleared his throat to get rid of his groggy voice, not realising he brought Y/n out of her daze. She shook her head and scolded her brain for thinking inappropriate thoughts about a man she had only known for 3 days.

"I can come back some other day?" Please say no

"No..no. I need this. I need something healthier than takeaways and bread." He said, fixing his hair. He felt embarrassed Y/n had to see him in such a state and had to wait outside while he overslept. Meanwhile, Y/n was stifling a big grin. She really wanted to hug him because he looked so snug.

Until she remembered Colin existed. As she made her way into his home. She internally apologised to whichever god was available for thinking like this. Remus was a menace in his life since the day she saw him. Plus, he looked just like the man in her dream. Or maybe he had a few attributes that matched the man in her dreams. She never saw his entire face. She only knew he had sandy blonde hair and green eyes. He couldn't be Remus, right? She wondered. Has she met him before?

Auto/Beam are particular favorites of mine and also i have 10,000 hours logged between them

Since I wasn't a spoiled bitch, I can literally just list all the car games I had in my childhood. All for PC that is, because since I wasn't a spoiled bitch I didn't have a console. Okay actually there was NFS Carbon: Own The City and Herbie for DS but that was it. We were saying.

Colin McRae Rally 04 You've no idea what pain I brought to those poor little cars. Frequently I got to the end of one of those 2/4m stages with the car dying every 10/15 seconds. Such a good game. It also ran without having to insert its CD, which was very cool at the time, and very useful when I was gaming on the go on Father's Dell. idk if I also played it on his Toshiba but no such memory surfaces. Man I loved Father's Toshiba. I should try to retrofit it with new internals sometime.

Colin McRae Rally 2005 Liked that one too, but memories are hazier since at one point I was no longer able to play it for reasons I cannot recall so I just moved to 04 instead.

Test Drive Unlimited Got it recommended and didn't like it much. In hindsight it was an absolutely gorgeous game structure, but I just didn't care because I didn't like the way the cars drove. It collected dust.

Race Driver GRID For a long while, by far the latest racing game I ever had. Enjoyed it quite a lot! I even submitted an absolutely incredible gameplay clip to FailRace, though unfortunately it never did get featured. Bullshit, I say. And yes, for the longest time, I think until like 2020?, I had one single game that was younger than '06. See the part about not being a spoiled bitch. <-absolutely green with envy

GT Legends Played it a little during my youth, then tried to reinstall it years later to see if it lived up to my few memories of it and if I could get more out of it then by being less of a stupid baby. It corrupted the entire operating system and made the computer unable to start. A solid "no" to both.

And of course, who could forget, the Need For Speed series! In their chronological order:

Need For Speed Underground In my early childhood I didn't play it much, because I was still using the auto gearbox like a PLEB and you couldn't map controls in that game so when I got to the first drag race I couldn't figure out where the shift up key was nor could find it or remap it in settings and just abandoned the game. It should be noted as a child I was, in absolute, cosmically stupid. Later on I did pick it back up and see it to completion, loving it throughout (except for the part where you unlock the final boss' Civic you were neck and neck with on an R34 Skyline GT-R and they tell you it was stock. Sure honey now if you wait how did this bag of Fuck Off get here?). If only it had free roam, more races, a more varied environment, refillable NOS, the ability to have different cars simultaneously, and you get where I'm going with this don't you.

Need For Speed Underground 2 Man I loved this game since I started playing it at some ridiculously low age and I never stopped loving it and I was right throughout. I love love LOVE this game. I know the map by heart, the soundtrack by heart, the circuits by heart, the upgrades by heart, the starter cars specs by heart, you have no idea. This has been my childhood. This is by far and away the one I played and loved the most, even though due to the needlessly convoluted and completely obscure progression mechanics that childhood never saw me finish it - although I guess that helped me keep playing it, as when I got stuck with no way to progress further I'd just start from scratch again with no clue what to fix. I was able to pick it back up and finish it later on in life, through middle/high school, and later on still through the power of mods I squeezed and crushed and stretched that game like Tumblr did with Danny Phantom episodes. I modded it so much it crashed every ten minutes. I ran it off an iPod Nano. I messed the cars up so bad I'd essentially created new game modes. I managed to make a good desktop computer over a decade younger than the game itself run it at seconds per frame just by editing four wheel coordinates. And now you spoiled bitches can download it for free on somewhere like MyAbandonware (dot com, of course) and give it a try. And I can't recommend it enough. Literally; because if I could, friend of the blog @demoness-one would have done so by now >:(

Need For Speed Most Wanted The best Need For Speed game of all time, according to everyone. Everyone but me. I mean, I did go through it, but it looks bleak, the cars just seem to want to bounce from wall to wall, and I just don't like police chases - it's a game, why would I want a limited number of attempts? Also, they madly stressed me out, so, and here begins a funny story, I abandoned it when unable to rack up enough chase points to challenge the final boss. I picked it back up a while later to find out if it was just me being a baby, and no, I still didn't like it - but luckily I'd learned of the bug where if you park on a certain railing all the cop cars will pile up under you but never bust you, and decided to actually finish what I'd started so long before. Those points racked up, I worked myself through the good hour of bullshit unfairness of the duel with Razor (I have to win every race to win but he can win any race to win? Understandable. hey the bag of Fuck Off's back), even quitting the whole shebang three races in over a wrong input and having to start again, until, after hours of unsaveable progress, I finally was able to win the last race. And did you know that after that, just when you think you're done, you get the biggest, most intense car chase of the whole game? :) Well, I sure didn't, because right after I finished the race the game crashed and I had to do all those five races over again. :) And then I did that and it crashed again and I uninstalled the game and watched the ending on YouTube. :)

Need For Speed Carbon The takes get hotter still: I like this one more than MW. The colors got fixed, I liked the handling better (while obviously not as good as the mighty Underground 2 OF COURSE), drifting, my favorite race mode, replaced drag racing, my least favorite*, and yes, the car chases, and I may even like the soundtrack better? Nah, that's bull, I don't remember much of those two soundtracks at all off the top of my head. But I saw this one to the end and enjoyed it very much. *For the unaware, in every NFS game I played in my childhood, drag races did not give you steering control - to avoid traffic or obstacles, you tapped the arrow keys and the car would switch lanes. There were also a couple other games there's not much to say about (Ford Streetracing, loved it, V-Rally 3, I think it had some issues and I never did play it, London Racer World Challenge, I recall nothing)... and now we move on to the car games I played since.

Assetto Corsa I've only ever dabbled in it a couple of times, but it's very fun when it works. My hardware is limiting on this front and I think I've some config issues, but when I'll have time to solve those I will be very glad to jump into it - especially because I really love driving simulators. Where with other games you kind of need some external validation of how hard it was to win with the tools the computer gave you -because it's not inherently cool that you beat a game, it was made to be beaten from the start- proper simulators just chuck you into an experience where no accommodation has been made for you (short of the damage level set, that is) and whatever you manage in it is your own accomplishment, not something the game let you accomplish. And on that note...

Richard Burns Rally This game is absolutely fucking incredible. "It's a 2004 game, how engaging a driving experience can it be" enough to make many still call it the best rally simulator out there and one of the best driving simulators period. Enough to motivate thousands of people to keep making a plethora of mods for it every day (which i've never been able to make work lol). Enough to make me seriously recommend buying yourself a wheel with force feedback* just to play this abandonware game (because using anything but a wheel for it is like using anything but a spoon for soup). And to be clear, this game is HARD. It just gives you a brief but extremely good rundown of how to master the driving basics and then have fun around rally stages where, again, the road has not been widened for you, the ditches not been filled, the car has not been programmed not to roll over too easily… essentially, the main way in which they are substantially easier than driving them IRL is the luxury of trial and error. So when, through however many days of trial and error it'll take you, you finally glide through those bumps smoothly enough to wipe the red off that time delta, this commercial flop the dozen-people-team from the Animaniacs GBA game developed when RAM was measured in megabytes becomes the most exhausting, intense, rewarding experience a computer has ever provided me. And a computer has gotten me laid. *I recommend the Logitech G25s, found for well under a dub, and the G27s, a small revision of the G25 with more buttons and a better shifter usually found for not much more (I found mine for 80!). They're from 2004 and 2010 respectively, and the wheel Logitech sells today is just a G27 with more buttons which says it all about how good a budget wheel it is.

TrackMania Nations Forever I hate this game, I fucking despise this game. "Alright, it's the same game we made two years ago with new tracks, and it has no story, opponents, traffic, cutscenes, or really any dynamic beyond checkpoints, a finish and a timer. But even still, there are so many fun mechanics to master anyway, like jump distance control, which you hopefully figure out you have because it's not like there is any tutorial to tell you! Or drifting, which is necessary to beat the best time in one of the last levels - you do it by pressing brake, accelerator and a steering direction simultaneously. Hope you randomly decide to do it autonomously to see what happens and find out that can be faster! And if you don't have a specialized keyboard with more than the normal 2 key rollover, hopefully something possessed you to map one of those controls to a completely different keyboard zone than all the others, or pressing all three will make only two register and you never will find this out! But at least not making any tutorials or the likes and keeping the interface absolute garbage allowed us to have the driving on absolute lock! Well, except for that bug where if you take the fastest line through a corner your car may decide to ragdoll and fuck your run. Oh and also the one where if you land a jump on all four wheels you may randomly lose your speed. Good luck!" I now get why they hate French people. Unfortunately, as for a lot of destructive hatred of mine, it manifests in yet more determination to conquer the little shit. I've gotten author times on every single one of the tracks except the last one, not because it's eight times longer than by far the second longest at an entire goddamn hour but because I wanted an effort that lengthy to be a special occasion and that never manifested. ...Maybe a stream?

Actually, I visited MyAbandonware to check the NFSU2 page and apparently they include a mod that puts the uncensored edits of the songs in the soundtrack and honestly I hella want to play it again just to hear that, so that could also be a cool stream idea if it wasn't a criminal deed to play copyrighted music on stream (I've not kept up with that whole mess, can you do it if you don't keep a VOD?). Or I could stream myself playing Richard Burns Rally and make you go "oh this is HARD hard".

TL;DR of Tharion in HOFAS: mistakes were made.

Tharion opens the book as a fighter for the Viper Queen, one of her best ones along with Ariadne. She feeds him her poison, which is some marvelous drug and a very good high. The Frat Boys + Fendyr Heir & The Sprites come to try and take him out and it ends up in Ithan fighting and killing the Fendyr Heir to win their (his) freedom.

And when they leave, the 3 Sprites torch the place. The Viper Queen blames Tharion and places a bounty in his head. Then they go break Ruhn, Baxian and Ruhn out of prison and Tharion saves Lidia's life when she falls off a cliff.

The Ocean Queen comes to visit underground. She wants to know why there are two Queens mad a Tharion and threatening war. She bids him to stay goddamn aboard the ship. Alas, he disobeys and follows the Gang to Avallen. Three Queens angry now.

Some of the Valbaran Fae are fleeing there seeking shelter from the gathering storm, including the Lord Hawthorne aka Flynn's father, along with his wife and younger daughter, Sathia.

It's been a while since I read Ruhn's bonus PoV but she shows up there before here.

Anyway, Avallen is a patriarchal hellhole and Morven is demanding Sathia marry so she may stay, because women in Avallen are worth only the offspring they can bear. Positively charming place. She doesn't want to get married, especially because the two foremost suitors are the shadow twins, Ruhn's murderous cousins.

Tharion volunteers to marry her under the reasoning that had his sister been in the same position, he would have wanted someone to do this for her. Also what's one more whimsical decision anyway? It's not without consequence: divorce doesn't really exist for the Fae; Sathia would be persona non grata among them for doing so.

At one point the Asteri bomb Asphodel and Tharion goes back to Lunathion with Sathia to plead with the River Queen for her to shelter the humans. Sathia proves to be quite the talker here, he is spoiled, and fiery but has a sense of humor and is quite poised as Lady. I like how she handles herself and how she openly challenged Bryce when Bryce wanted all the fae to go choke. She has a backbone.

She has Earth magic! She can make plants grow!

Anyway, once they leave the Blue Court, they run into the Viper Queen and her two assassin-guards... and we get the reveal that one of them used to be Sathia's friend/bodyguard/sweetheart, Colin McCarthy. Her father said he got a new post but rather he just introduced him to the Viper Queen and now he only obeys her (that poison but way more late stage than Tharion's).

Sathia disappears, leaving a note saying thay she cannot leave Colin in the Viper Queen's hands and thanks him for all he did for her. It's time for the endgame so that'll be handles afterwards. Tharion gets the cure for the parasite dampening the Vanir's powers and goes to deliver some flasks to the Gang in the Eternal City wrecking shit up with the Asteri.

He helps them fight, gets shot, gets better with help of Ruhn's brand new healing power. He survives.

His last PoV in the book is he going back to the Meat Market to look for Sathia just to ensure she's okay and then follow their separate ways. It ends on a cliffhanger with him running into Ariadne.

The Main Stars:

Honestly... I didn't really care for Polin. I felt like their relationship and Colin's feelings for her were rushed. I don't really care for Colin in general. I was looking forward to a best friends to lovers with feelings slowly being realized but it seems like they rushed through it so that part 1 could end with a big shock of Colin proposing. My problem was that A) it felt rushed. Like.. Jiara type of rushed and B) a lot of Polin problems (and other issues) got resolved so quickly.

As for Colin, I find him kinda boring and I didn't understand why Pen said he 'returned different' when... he literally acted the exact same. Maybe it's because he was more of an afterthought in the previous seasons. Like he was always traveling and we didn't even know he was a writer until this season and even then we??? didn't even get to see a lot of it??? And while understandably he was upset about Whistledown, I hate how he kept bringing down Pen and the writing and then it was all resolved super quickly.

Nicola/Pen was amazing and I'm glad she advocated for being nude as a fuck you to those who didn't want her as a love interest due to her body type. She was amazing, stunning, gorgeous and I love herrr. She is also. So short.

(My) Main Stars:

Kate, Anthony, Francesca, and Benedict stole the show for me. I was more invested in them than in Polin.

Kathony scenes were so cute and lovely and they're having a baby!! I believe they have a few in the books so looking forward to proper dad Anthony and more of grandma Violet since we haven't gotten much of that with Daphne. They were so fun and Anthony was so head over heels. So sad we never got to see their wedding and such but alas, we might get dad!Anthony and mom!Kate.

Francesca!! I'm not sure if they're setting up for her being bisexual or lesbian but I'm going to assume lesbian. Fucking finally. And honestly? Slay. Her potential love interest was drop dead gorgeous and I'm looking forward to more of their story. She was such an interesting character. At first I assumed that she was like a different side of the same coin with Daphne where Daphne was looking forward to marriage cause of love Francesca was looking forward to marriage to get it over with. Her and Kilmartin are great. Their friendship is so cute and... I assume I'm going to be devastated in following seasons.

We all knew Benedict was bi y'all. We been knew. And!! High chance the next season will be setting up for his season (it'll possibly be Eloise's season?) or it'll be his season!! Benedict is such a puppy and I really really hope they make drastic changes from his book. I'm curious to see if they'll also change his love interests gender? Either way, I'm looking forward to how things will roll out for him.

Other things:

I was very meh about Violet, Danbury, and Anderson. I live for Violet and Danburys friendship and I'm always happy to see em but I did not care for a surprise family member lmao. But hey, at least Violet is getting her garden watered.

People were acting like the Mondrichs were taking up half of the season and it was like?? They've been appearing in scenes throughout the show since S1 like no shit they're going to continue appearing?? The way people talk and act about them has such undertones... Check yourself.

I was hoping for a Cressida redemption arc tbh... And also for Eloise x Cressida to happen ngl lmao. I really thought Eloise would end up being wlw (which could still happen! She could easily still be queer). As much as I like Eloise I do hope she will change how she views other ladies. A lot of time she's giving 'not like other girls' and this season she was doing better than that but still... Some of her comments were not it.

How do Ben and Sophie celebrate each others birthdays over the years? Especially pre then getting together when they’re both in that “in love” phase but it’s gone a bit to shit?

I kind of think they’d get each other the most thoughtful gifts and meaningful ones without really knowing how much they’d mean and Violet just sitting there like 😏😏 knowing that eventually they’re gonna be together

And then when they’re together they’re a bit more extravagant, especially Benedict’s to Sophie with majorly big romantic gestures!

During those first few years prior to their first kiss at the Yule ball they would always get each other thoughtful gifts. Sophie would fret over her choice of presents, worrying that whatever she got him would inadvertently reveal her crush if she picked anything too meaningful, but despite her apprehension Benedict would always greatly appreciate what she had got him (and of course it never occurred to him the reason why Sophie turned so pink when he would pull her into a big hug to thank her). Benedict meanwhile would always think about Sophie's birthday present quite a bit in advance and if he ever walked past a shop window and spotted something that he knew would be perfect for her, he'd go ahead and buy it then and there regardless if her birthday was still months away. They also had a birthday tradition of gifting each other boxes of chocolate from Honeydukes, as a nod to Benedict sharing his secret stash with her one night during her first stay at Aubrey Hollow.

After the Yule ball where things between them are awkward and pained, Benedict still gets Sophie presents as he always did, though in comparison Sophie's gifts to him were on a smaller scale, signifying the burgeoning distance between them - but despite being smaller, they were still meaningful even if Sophie hadn't gone to the previous efforts that she used to. Then during Sophie's interrailing years Benedict isn't sure if he should send her anything as she seemed to have given him the cold shoulder (which had everything to do with him being in a relationship with Gen - not that he ever picked up on that). It's only when his mother asks what he's got Sophie ahead of her birthday that he quickly rushes out to get her something, but instead of sending it to her himself, he adds it to the pile of presents his parents and siblings are sending her without any note saying it's from him. When Sophie opened his present she knew it was from him and despite the heartache she had over him, his present still meant the world to her.

However following on from their near hook up at Michael's party Benedict has no idea if he should even get her anything for her upcoming birthday. Now knowing just how much pain he's caused her, he's worried anything he might send her would simply end up going straight in the bin. Upon his birthday where he received nothing from her, he figured he may as well give up the ghost too; except one day he spots a book that he automatically buys without even thinking simply because it reminded him of Sophie. He once again sends it off in amongst the rest of his family's presents; and once again, Sophie doesn't need any note with the gift to know it's from him and yet in spite of the heartbreak she has just by thinking of him, she can't help but cherish the gift.

When the gang are back ahead of Daphne's wedding, Colin casually makes a comment that the birthday presents he's sent Benedict over the last four years were all picked out by Sophie. Benedict's shocked by this revelation but upon reflecting on it for a few seconds realises it makes all the more sense as he had thought it strange just how thoughtful his brother had been with his gift-giving while he had been on his travels, and it gives him hope that he still means something to Sophie.

Then when they're finally together and blissfully in love, of course Benedict goes above and beyond when it comes to getting her gifts for her birthday, doing everything in his power to spoil her rotten no matter her protestations that there's no need for him to go so overboard. Meanwhile for the first time since she's known him, Sophie doesn't have to overthink her choices of presents for Benedict and quite happily splashes out on him in return. And of course, they still get one another a box of Honeydukes chocolates for old time's sake.

"Midnight" thoughts

i'll be honest i did not super enjoy this rewatch. everyone was so goddamn stupid and annoying it was kind of hard to sit through

i do like bottle episodes and wish we got more of them. donna has a nice relaxing spa day and the doctor tries to go on a field trip and has the worst day of his life. i like how he short-circuits the various bits of entertainment so that they can all talk to each other instead, it was cute. we briefly see rose on one of the music video screens when the doctor's back is turned

bus stops and something outside starts knocking. it starts with two, the dad knocks back 3 times and it repeats, the doctor knocks 4 times and it repeats. there's only one thing i think of when i hear 4 knocks and i'm not sure if it was an intentional reference or not

so the power goes out briefly and something enters the newly divorced lesbian and she's frozen, unable to do anything except repeat what everyone is saying. first normally, then it speeds up so she's speaking at the same time. it's suitably creepy and interesting that this thing is learning, mimicking. i also like that we never see it, learn nothing about it, and have no idea what it is or what it wants. the professor continually insisting nothing could possibly live on midnight just pissed me off, motherfucker do you know what lives in deep sea vents?! have you seen what tardigrades can do?! extonic sun or not

it's a classic hysteria story, like the house md episode set on an airplane. if i were there i would simply not become hysterical so it's hard to relate to these people, lol. eventually the doctor gets possessed too and they go to throw him out the airlock but the hostess realizes the thing never left sky so she murder-suicides them and everyone is saved. the doctor asking at the end what the hostess's name was and no one knows cause they never asked was a good touch

i think i must be spoiled from the last episodes or something cause everyone felt so goddamn annoying. no one was likable and i would have started throwing hands with that annoying ass couple like immediately. i do want to give a shoutout to colin morgan, who was cast in "merlin" bc of his performance in this episode, and the professor who was played by david troughton, son of patrick :) the episode was also directed by alice troughton but she has no relation

so yeah, kind of mid (-night) tbh. really curious about how i'll feel about the next one as i've never rewatched and didn't get all the hype last time

I thought the ending was great. Predictable but in a satisfying way for me, bc, it didn't felt like a lazy ending even though we all saw it coming. hello yeah so i JUST finished it and um. yeah. so

so okay i was looking at spoilers before i watched the episode (as i do every succession monday....i love looking at spoilers what can i say i'm a spoilers guy i love to spoil things for myself) so i did. know going into the episode the gist of what was going to happen lol BUT. personally i did not see it coming!! i hadn't like put a ton of thought into trying to guess how things might end but i was pretty sure it was going to be a "the cycle continues" type thing and i thought that meant that kendall was going to become ceo complete his logan transformation roman was going to remain a dog at his feet shiv was going to remain the woman to the side connor was going to remain irrelevant. so i honestly was a bit surprised by what actually happened!

i did still love the direction they took things tho. i mean the cycles are still cycling of course but i think the siblings' positioning inside those cycles is just a little different from what i expected and so i kinda like it more and less for each of them differently. like i LOVE this direction for shiv bc....wow how fucking rancid. just how absolutely vile of an ending for her...i think there is so much to say about how like. throughout the show at various points she has tried to escape womanhood (as like. constructed by the environment she's in--women are weak, women are mothers, women get fucked, women are fodder but they can't hold the big guns etc) and how she wanted to become her father but in the end the most she could get was becoming her mother. her conversation with tom about wanting a real relationship; the discussion about the bloodline...ik some people are saying they think she was like. saving her brothers kinda by getting them out but. tbh i don't really think she did what she did for her brothers i think it was 100% a selfish decision of her just weighing the scales for what would give her access to more power.

i love the ending for kendall too even though i also would have loved him becoming ceo and completing his transformation into his dead father, locking himself and everyone around him into hell etc. but GOD that scene where he was talking about how this is literally the one thing he was made for the one thing his life is meant for...absolutely fucking gutting and to then rip it away?? yeah i can't be mad about that lmao i fucking loved his breakdown and his pathetic ending all alone with colin following like 5 feet behind. honeslty was kinda expecting him to like. take the elevator up and jump off the building lmao

i'm less enthusiastic about roman's ending even tho like. he seemingly got the best one lol i wanted his to be as bad as his siblings'. like it's nice that he's finally seemingly freed himself from waystar etc but....well i kinda wanted him to stay a dog y'know....i do think he was always the sibling that had the most potential to get out (aside from connor who's like already fucked off) just bc i think he always knew he was never going to become his father whereas both shiv and kendall had a real shot at turning into logan (or at least thought they did) but neither of them managed it in the end. roman wanted to be good enough but i think he always knew he never would be, whereas both shiv and kendall thought they were good enough and so both of them just. couldn't fucking let go

MY BRINGERTON HOT TAKE

which isn’t really all of that hot. I’m going to sum up a little but i want to cover it all-ish. i really want to talk about polin but i don’t want to make a bunch of post so i’m going to toss everything into one. 

Season 1: I really liked it. I liked the subplots of this season better. I did like Simon & Daphne...aside from that one ugh scene that I had to FIGHT so many people about because they didn’t believe it. I can only remember Simon’s speech to The Queen as a stand-out relationship moment but the flirting was cute and all. 

Season 2: I liked the main couple better but the side plots of season 1 more. I’m glad I wasn’t on social media when season 2 first dropped because it would’ve been a headache. I know people saw Kate & Anthony got less time together BUT I remember them so much more and I can re-call various of scenes with them more than I can our S1 couple. The bee string with Kate, Anthony telling her to tell him no before Daphne came in, the game of pall mall and etc, I just felt more for the couple. 

Side note, also viewing S2, I like Daphne more as a side character who gives advice than a main lead. 

I’ll agree Kate should’ve gotten some more depth added by the end but I wasn’t unhappy (I didn’t even realize this was an issue until I joined fandom stuff because I just loved her so....)

All I’m going to say about Edwina is she’s not some evil bitch. Home girl is out here fighting in the streets but I liked her and I don’t mind ep 6 being mostly about her because LMAO SHE was the one getting married. SHE was the one who trusted her sister. SHE was the one who watched her sister and fiancé making love to each other standing at the alter. SHE was the one who found about the money last, SHE’s the one who was told there weren’t anymore secrets. 

So, yeah.  

Onto the meat of my topic! POLIN, it’s under a read more because there will be some book spoilers. 

I feel like I need to address a few things first. 

I know all of the characters in the show and in the book are mainly rich, privileged, spoiled, entitled people. I know most of their problems will be first world problems. I’ve accepted it that, I’ve accepted that I’ll have to relate the character flaws and ‘whinying’ and I say this, because it ties into my post overall but i’m going to roll my eyes if a rich character feels listless compared to their family because, well, this rich person is human and being rich doesn’t prevent them from feeling. 

TV POLIN:

Honestly, I’m here for it. I’m going to eat, no crumbs left. I can do friends to lovers. I got all of those ‘OOF’ feelings whenever Colin would say something sweet to Pen and then follow it up with “HEY BESTIE!” I like how Penelope is all heart eyes in a romantic way and Colin is heart eyes like ‘i love my little sis so much’

so, Pen as LW in the show is MILES extra than what she did as LW in the books. I was EEK. I’ll admit, ya girl doesn’t know how she’s gonna comeback from this. I mean, her apologizing, telling the Bridgeton family and etc all has to happen but I’m scared for her to come out as LW.  It’s life or death. In the books, that C girl finds out and they do whole reveal but with the Queen in it....hmm...maybe...they let the Queen in on it? Let her do the reveal, maybe she’ll be impressed that it was PEN of all of people who did it. Idk, I’m here for the romance. 

So for the romance. I don’t know how Colin & Pen will handle LW, so I won’t touch but this is what I will touch. HOT TAKE. DON’T HATE ME.

While Colin does need to say sorry and prove he’s sorry, I can’t do an entire season of him groveling at her feet while she plays hard to get. I say this because, while Colin was tactless and etc, I do get where he was coming from when he did it in two ways, one, the peer pressure and drinking with the guys and etc! But even more than that (two) as of right now, he really wouldn’t dream of courting of her. I think I took that scene in...is based off my real life, growing up, I had a guy bff and everyone would hit me with you like him and all and I’d be like NO, that’s my BFF. 

It’s obvious to see that Colin DOES care about Penelope, he values her, he looks out for her, he’s open in a way with her that he isn’t with his own family. I don’t think he meant it in a mean way but in his mind, they’re asking him about his bff, someone who could be like a little sister to him. I don’t think what he said is worth making him grovel for half a season. He does love Pen, just not in the way we want.

I think what I would like, is Colin starting look at Pen in the way society would sort of look at her. He isn’t supposed to be as comfortable he is with Pen, how he treats her like friend, how he doesn’t really dance/talk with other women outside his family. How, in his mind, saying what he said is harmless because everyone knows that they’re good friends but the issue is, men and woman *aren’t* really suppose to be friends in this era, at least until they reach a certain age. I’d like someone, like Violet or Daph or even Fran to have that talk with him. And maybe once he starts looking at her through that lens, he starts seeing her as a *woman* and not as Pen. 

I’d even like an episode or something of him, maybe, possibly, for whatever reason of him helping Pen find a boo and just harshly inspecting them all and he’s complaining about it at the breakfast table and everyone is gets it and just giggles and laughs at him.

OR 

Maybe a scene where someone is talking about the different types of loves, the different ways it can hit you and as the scene is going on and that person is talking to Colin or around, he see’s Pen and what they describe truly hit home for him and he starts to get it. And then he freaks out and panics and is like OHSHITIMINLOVEWITHPEN and he’s running around, freaking OUT. 

I’d like some real courting. It was too rushed in the books. This is a TV series so, give me the courting. Give me starting to court and taking a bet on how long it’ll take everyone to figure it out. 

Onto my next bit, which is more book related. Julia rushed Colin’s emotional journey too much. Which hurts me because I liked that! I like a guy from his period being that in touch with his emotions. Which leads me to my next point, I get it. He’s a white boy with money and is entitled. He’s liked by everyone and compared to Pen he has a lot going on. AND STILL.

The scene in which he’s being open and vulnerable, trusting her and she shits on it. Don’t get me wrong, I understand why she’s saying it, it’s just that it was resolved too easily for me. He doesn’t matter if he didn’t love her, it doesn’t matter if he’s more well liked. When you’re being open with someone and they shit on your feelings right after, when you’re putting your trust in them, that hurts. 

Which leads me too, I hope the show goes more in depth on that emotional journey. All aspects. Does he feel like he can’t go to his older brothers? Does he feel like he can’t be open with them like he was with Pen because on some level he knows it’s a petty problem (which, I don’t think it is, it’s a human thing.), is he scared of getting the same reason. How does their father’s death impact him? (And all of the siblings honestly.) In the books, there’s a throw away when he says he isn’t tall and brooding. It shows what type of person he thinks women are into and that he doesn’t see himself that way so he’s putting himself down. Why does it bother him to be known as charming fool and why would Pen see that as a compliment? (In the books, he mentions whistle down saying he was charming and it made him feel some type of way because is that *all* he is, is that the only way people see him.) I just think a few of things could be used in the show to go a little deeper into Colin, because compared to Pen, he hasn’t had that deep dive yet. 

And to transition to home girl, it’s funny, they don’t communicate GREAT as in not yelling but I like in the books they tend to get the problems out, right the and there. It might translate differently to the scene but I like the no-nonsense stuff. 

And to say, my girl Pen gives at good as she gets when given the chance. In the book and we’ve seen this in the show. I think Penelope needs to work on ownership most of all. In the books, LW wasn’t a big deal, LW wasn’t horrible and picked on mean people. In that sense, her being LW isn’t that big, but the SHOW OH BOY THE SHOW.

Modern Bridgerton couples + Pets

Just thinking about which kind of domesticated menaces they would bring into their homes.

Saphne: their first pet is definitely a Basset Hound because Daphne is a dork. Name is Princess, she is super cute. Simon later decides he can't take being outnumbered and gets a Pitbull (with some manly name like Maverick) to teach Princess how to be a good guardian dog. Jokes on him the Pitbull ends up twice as spoiled as the Basset hound and follows him everywhere huffing for cuddles.

Kanthony: They have Newton the demon corgi, although they probably get a mate for Newton at some point and just enjoy life as proud corgi grandparents when Newton & wife begin making puppies. They most likely end up with a houseful of corgis because Kate is not okay with neutering Newton and Anthony can't deny her anything.

Benophie: These two are definitely bird people. All their birds are rescue and they keep them in a special open part of My Cottage greenhouse, while rehabilitating broken wings. Officially they have a chicken, two parrots, a parakeet and a Cockatoo (Pollock, Picasso, Monet, Dali and Frida) but they feed every bluejay, canary, raven or winged personality that comes to their birdhouses. So you never really know exactly how many birds they actually have at home.

Polin: I want to say they are also Dog people. But Colin just looks like the guy who has a thing for exotic reptiles whenever he travels. And Penelope would definitely appreciate the irony of owning a Chameleon. Also their pets would be the protected species kind that need their own enclosure. Colin has Popcorn, a Blue Iguana, which he rescued in the Cayman Islands and a couple of very colorful Geckos (Muffin and Nugget). while Penelope just keeps a tortoise she's had since she was little called Lola, and a blue Panther Chameleon called Ozzy, that Colin got her for her 16th birthday. (her chameleon is the boss of that house)

Philoise: Eloise has a grey Persian Cat that looks perpetually grumpy called Napoleon, Phillip has a brown Saint Bernard that he calls Noel but his kids call Noodle. El's cat did not take it well when Eloise moved in with Phillip and the twins, simply because the dog was being way too friendly with Eloise. And the cat wasn't having it. So he marked his territory in a very feline way.

Franchel: Michael was never much for pets, but Francesca has a whole aquarium of Koi fish in her apartment and loves to add pieces of decorations to it so the fishes begin growing on him. After the get married, Michael actually builds Fran a pond with it's own ecosystem so she can raise her Koi in relative freedom outside of the small aquarium they are used to.

Hyraeth: These two are not exactly pet people, but I feel like teenage Gareth owns a horse that he takes care of very well and Hyacinth is persuaded to help out with his horse and begins loving it as well so she gets Anthony to buy her a pony which she names Twilight Sparkle. they both grow up to be very responsible horse owners.

Grucy: they share ownership over the class pet in Elementary school. A spotted bunny named Waldo. And they low key treat the rabbit as their child. Since Lucy is technically not allowed to have pets by her uncle and Gregory was banned from the pet store after the last 'free the animals' incident he was involved in
