the worst part about akiko in hope in friends is that she is a creator’s favorite i think and popular (?) and actually complex and narratively well written

i also want her so dead oh my god not like “the story would be better” no no just this raw unfettered hatred that has quieted down into an instinctive “fuck this character . FUR COAT”

except i am also (i think) capable of writing a genuinely decent analysis or at least look at her character development

which is super hard to do when i have to laser past my “hey guys what if we all beat her up YOU STUPID BITCH” and focus super super hard to not just interpret all her actions as inherently selfish at the cost of others when there are different ways to see it and makes more logical sense

…alas. the trouble of a character reminding me imdirectly of a person who really hurt me. now i hate them forever

i feel like a little coolish thing i noticed between me and another friend’s theories is that

i thjnk that mine tend to be more pessimistic, more selfish in behavior

while his tend to lean towards heroism

my theory on carbon was that he hid in thr castle for his own life after a violent power struggle erupted

his theory was that he hid himself in the castle out of fear of hurting anyone else
