the ranboo/slimecicle/sneegsnag wolfquest vod is reminding me that not everyone knows basic wolf ecology and behavior like
they've got 3 wolves and they decided to attack some bison
(all 3 wolves were killed multiple times)
#i used to visit a wolf research/education center every year that was given a bison herd at one point#so they started letting 2-3 wolves into the bison enclosure once a week during the summer as enrichment for both parties#2-3 wolves have no chance against an adult bison and the same wolves were never used too many weeks in a row to be safe#the staff would get the bison to gather together beforehand too so it'd be harder for the wolves to single out any one of them#i think someone reported them and they had to stop but the closest anyone got to injury was a bison losing a small tuft of fur#a lot of popular wolf photos come from this place so i'll often see some wolf meme and be like. hey that's ayla. i've met her.

Well my last mini boss left for a different job while I was out on vacation and my main boss is on extended sick leave so I came in with 0 information on our changes or what was going on. I'm still not 100% certain and I'm also fairly certain the person covering for my boss wasn't told my vacation days so probably isn't/wasn't aware I was coming back today. So what I'm doing is super tedious, which is painstakingly comparing what has been done to what is marked needs to be done and slowly making changes based off of it. It's taking forever.
#mumblings about work#i swear I can always tell that a boss is on their way out#they stop helping and talking to me#so if I reach out to them and are like hey this is an issue they brush me off and tell me to ask someone else#our staff is so tiny now because my last intern also quit right before I went on vacation#I also think I drank too much coffee this morning because after 2 weeks of tromping around in the rain#drinking a glass of coffee and sitting in front of my computer is just painful#I feel like I missed so much but there's no one to reach out to and ask what all I missed who actually knows#so I spent most of my morning reaching out to multiple people and getting pieces of what I missed but nothing concrete#it also seems like everything we were doing got changed again

#red said#i said a week ago 'hey we have staff at multiple locations should we run this celebratory lunch as a hybrid event'?#no that would be too hard#we'll do it in person only and record the presentations#so uhhhhh that event is on Thursday and as of today oops no don't bother with catering we'll do it online to make sure everyone's involved#which means no we aren't offering our staff a free lunch to celebrate their work.#instead we're asking them to spend their lunch break at a teams meeting. which is obviously the same fucking thing.#so a) once again i am forced to ask Okay Well Why Have I Spent A Week Preparing Stuff We Aren't Using#and b) in a period where there's mass dissatisfaction and 16 people just got laid off without warning#leadership are making the decision to substitute 'we will buy you lunch and give you the chance to hang out and celebrate'#with 'stop what you're doing so the CEO can talk at you for an hour'?#i mean it's like they WANT to help my organising efforts. which is appreciated i guess. open union meeting this month 😘#OH also it's bc 'attendance wasn't high enough' when 40 people have RSVPed yes in the last week which is 1 in 5 of the org#i don't know what numbers she was fucking expecting given that we have a bunch of staff who don't work Thursday#or who work out of office
