 I’ve learnt that a lot of people who read my fic don’t know much about 2b/2t, so here is a list of some of the real lore thing/things that actually happened that i have mentioned in my fic (Also a lot of information about 2b/2t history is a bit muddled as people don't seem to agree on certain points/how things happened but this is information I have been told or read so if it doesn’t match something you have heard it might be because of difference in sources).

There were 7 major factions during the war (and some smaller ones), the ideas of trapping spawn both the lava and water, research station 4, wrath outpost and that it was planed to be one of several buldings named after the deadly sins, Fit almost getting to Rusher in the field of wheat, the field of wheat getting destroyed, Rusher denying he wanted the field of wheat destroyed.

Rusher calling Fit is a nod to how Rusher during the war interviewed him. Fit talking about making a place to fight Rusher is a nod to how he actually built a castle to fight him. Rusher talking about being the hero is a nod to times during my research i would find him saying stuff like “Evil dirty veteran flag” and stuff like that while on the server. There were bounties placed on Rusher (however the amount for his death is changed in the fic but i don't remember what the origonal price was). “Clown down” was one of the first things Fit said after killing Rusher.

Also in ch 3 when Fit hears Pac e Mike are brazilian and asks for Sato, is because Sato was a brazilian 2b/2t historian.

Mentioned of Fit using new spawns when loosing ground and was a real discussion (mostly when discussing new spawns and their place in team veterans ((that is a whole mess of its own I won't get into)).

A lot of the words are real terms that has been used on the server like; basemate, newspawn/new friend, no-name, pre-june, insiding. 

I also want to mention one inaccuracy which is that end crystals wasn't used a lot during this time, the most common figthing style was still with tnt.

Also since i’ve seen none one mentioning it and i have no better place to bring it up, the code to Pac's comm being Richarlyson’s adoption day is a call back to that being Pacs code to his briefcase during the happy pill ark.

I know nothing of far east productions but maybe someone here does and will weigh in? Most everything I watch is American, some UK and Canadian stuff. A lot of documentaries (if you have Netflix, guys, I recommend one called Pepsi Where's My Jet about the kid - now a grown-up - who sued Pepsi in the 90s for not getting a harrier jet with his Pepsi points lol). The one I watched yesterday was a non-story bore about a dude who figured out how to guess the exact prices on The Price is Right. Otherwise, all I've watched/am watching lately is Mayfair Witches (but I'm done because the finale was sucky and gross), The Ark (I enjoy it but everyone is piling on it), The Watchful Eye, Ghosts and So Help Me Todd (aka a show no one else knows exists).

Far East, you say? *took a deep breath*

Along with anime:

-Battle Royale (Japan invetned Hunger Games, before Hunger Games and made it more brutal, just saying)

-any Ghibli movie but especially: Spirited Away, Mononokoe Hime, Grave of the Fireflies (this is the one of the most depressing movies abour war I have ever seen and i've seen a lot), My Neighbour Totoro, The Wind Rises, Howl's Moving Castle

-The Tale of the Princess Kaguya - the animation is very, very nice, it's long (for some too long) but well, really good if you like old Japan tales

-Rurouni Kenshin (the movies, but manga and old anime is nice too, just NOT THE ANIME MOVIES)

-Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni - GROSS SOBBING, another WWII movie. I think it was on Netflix

-Old Boy (Korean version, of course...) - a tale about revenge, super brutal, but damn, it was one of the movies that screwed my brain a lot

-Ghost in the shell (the animated japanase movie, the American version... just NO, plus there would be noi Matrix without this one)

-An (2015) - gross sobbing again

-Jiro Dreams of Sushi - for documentary lovers!

-Crows Zero - and the sequels, I liked all xD aka lowly ranked high school full of delinquents who want to be named the biggest ass kickers. Sounds brutal, but mostly it's hilarious

-Millennium Actress - it's an... experience...

-Ōkami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki - human mom with two half-werewolf kids needs to move from the city to more rural area to protect them

-Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and HERO (Hero is clearer for western viewers)

-Akira - again, a classic of cyberpunk

-Ip-man - based on true sotry about a kung fu master during WWII

-Kung-fu Hustle - the most hilarious Chinese movie I have seen, but the humour is specific

-Infernal Affairs - do you recall The Departed made by Scorsese? Well, he stole the whole idea from this movie and made it 10 times worse. The Hong Kong version is a masterpiece

And maybe I should stop here, because I'm an INCH of recommending a very WERID stuff xD

Movies I watched this week / 11

Ship of Theseus, The awesome Discovery of the Week:

A philosophical 2012 Indian art-house masterpiece, based on the Heraclitus thought experiment that asks, if an object that has had all of its components replaced remains the same object.

It tells 3 separate stories that are seemingly unrelated. The first introduces a young Egyptian photographer who is blind and creates her street art based on sounds she hears. The second is about a dying Jain monk, fighting to ban animal testing in India. The third is about a poor bricklayer whose stolen kidney was sold illegally to an unsuspecting Swedish man. The uniting finale is a moving reflection on Plato’s allegory of the cave.

It may not sound appealing, but the film is absolutely beautiful, surprising, compelling and original.

Also found on YouTube in 720p BluRay Quality. Good reviews by Nona Prince and an essay: Visual Metaphors in the film (Please read only after seeing the film itself)

First watch: Laura - 1944 absurd film noir mystery directed by Otto Preminger.  “I shall never forget the weekend Laura died.”...

Style over substance. 8/10.

Also, I didn’t know that Vincent Price was so tall.

Steven Soderbergh‘s The Girlfriend Experience. Real life mega porn star Sasha Grey in her first cross over role. She plays a high-end escort who is paid to act as her clients' emotional companion.

I loved it as a first act, but the story was missing act two.

I haven’t seen any Louis de Funès films for over 50 years. Surprisingly, Jo, The Gazebo, a typical 1971 screwball comedy, stayed relatively funny and fresh with all the mimicry and jokes I remember from my childhood. 5+

The Night of the Iguana, John Huston’s classic drama. Richard Burton is a disgraced minister at the end of his rope who is ready "to take the long swim to China". Tennessee Williams in Puerto Vallarta.

* Road to Roma - Interview with Cuarón, deconstructing the ‘making of’ his wonderful 2018 movie. Seeing the colorful process Behind the Scenes, in comparison to the Black and White canvas, is breathtaking. 10/10.

* His previous film - Gravity: A mainstream movie with only 2 actors. Exciting, too thrilling for me.

First watch: Russian Ark, an experimental story and a technical tour de force. It was recorded in a single, unedited take of 96 minutes at the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, on 23 December 2001, with a cast of over 2000 costumed actors. It follows 300 years of Russian history, guided by a 19th-century French diplomat.

✴️                        Lost in America - “This is just like ‘Easy Rider.’ Except, now it's our turn. I mean, we can drop out and we can still have our nest egg!”

Loved it then, loved it now.

Another, similar film from the same time (1991) and atmosphere, Steve Martin’s LA Story - Adored it then, loved it now.

Of Alan J. Pakula‘s “Paranoia Trilogy”, I always preferred “The Parallax View” and “All the President's Men”. Maybe because even Pakula had a hard time describing an affair between a call girl and a client without resorting to tired old cliches. But watching Klute for the first time in many years, all but the predictable ending is actually first rate.

He should have called it Bree, though.

Appreciation of composer Michael Small, who scored Klute as well as eight more of Pakula’s movies.

Butter - a nearly-wonderful comedy about a little orphaned black girl who competes at a butter sculpture contest at the Iowa State Fair.

Hitchcock's favorite plot, “Innocent Person Wrongly Accused”, in North by Northwest, with opening-credits sequence by Saul Bass, and still effective crop dusting attack.

Most of it is ridiculously dated (55 year old accidental hero Cary Grant who has to get his mother’s approval, and the final shot of the Freudian train speeding into the tunnel). It’s still a fun ride.

My first Almodóvar, All About My Mother. A melodramatic Telenovela world of junkies, transsexuals, AIDS, prostitution and the theater. It’s only during the second half that the film clicked for me.

I spent 4 long hours entangled with Woody Allen’s sexual abuse in the new disgusting documentary Allen v. Farrow.

Technically, the worst part of this are the unbearable, constant layers of background music that drowns every scene with emotional guidelines. I wish they would stop doing it once and for all.

Not necessary me, but Why I Will Never Watch a New Woody Allen Film Again.

The 2020 Invisible Man, Peggy Olson version: Somehow-interesting horror premise, but not my cup of tea. Points for the plot twist at the end. 2/10.

2019 Movie Odyssey

Welcome to the new decade, to the new year 2020.

This is usually posted on New Year’s Eve, but I was watching the final movie of the 2019 Movie Odyssey last night. For those of you who do not know, the “Movie Odyssey” refers to all films that I have seen for the first time in their entirety - no rewatches. We’re going to go in a different order this week, so some for-fun awards will be posted later this week and the 2019 Movie Odyssey Awards will be on Sunday, January 5. As I go through things like The Irishman, Little Women, 1917, and Parasite, I will be posting some very tardy “Best of 2010s”-related posts. Hey, I may be from the Greater Los Angeles Area, but those Hollywood theaters that show all those prestige movies are far from where I live. I don’t always get to see those movies in a timely fashion. I digress...

The number of short films I saw this year increased dramatically (from 2018′s number of 107 to 2019′s 166) because I was on the 2019 Viet Film Fest’s curatorial committee, in addition to the fact that Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is continuing to show a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) short and a Popeye short every Saturday morning except in Februaries, Augusts, and select holiday weekends. Developments in my professional life - and probably exacerbated by the fact I was on the Viet Film Fest’s curatorial committee and had to see many shorts and the presence of vacation and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup - saw a nosedive in the number of feature-length films and serials watched (108 feature-length films and serials this year compared to 156 last year). The total number of films actually increased, probably because of that uptick in shorts.

In addition to having the privilege of having seen many films made by and/or starring Vietnamese and Vietnamese from around the world and learning more about my heritage, I saw many more documentaries - in short and feature-length form - this year compared to others. But yet again this year (and we’re going to chalk this up to the clashes of professional developments at Viet Film Fest), there is a distinct lack of African and Latin American films for the 2019 Movie Odyssey. Knowing a handful of titles I have in the DVR, the former should be represented this year, but I have to make a better effort on searching for and finding films from Latin America.

Like every year, I thank all of you for being supporters of myself and for this old blog. I didn’t write too many Movie Odyssey reviews last year; if ever a Movie Odyssey review engages one person, that is a wonderful thing. So whether you have read, liked, reblogged, commented on, or shared a review, my thanks. And for those who have talked to me about movies we have both seen, are anticipating, or asking questions about something that appears on this blog, my thanks to you too. This blog, slower though it may be these days, would not be possible without you.

As many of you know, all ratings are based on my imdb rating and half-points are always rounded down. My interpretation of that ratings system can be found here. A 6/10 is considered the borderline between “passing” and “failing”. Feature-length narrative films, serials, documentaries, and short films are rated within their respective spectrums. Is there a new release you’re still waiting for? I'm not sure if I understand this correctly. Am I waiting for something that will be released this year? Then no

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year? I'd like to read the Broken Earth series by N.K. Jemisin (2 books to go) and  maybe finish rereading Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite book of the year? The Broken Earth books can and will shock me if the first book in the series is any indication

Have you already started making reading plans for 2018? yes! The books that will be released in 2018: Hero at the Fall (Rebel of the Sands #3) by Alwyn Hamilton is at the top of my list, if Schwab releases Vengeful (Vicious #2) this year then I want that, too, the finale of Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, The Ark by Alice Oseman. Etched in Bone (The Others #5) by Anne Bishop – the eBook is over 20€ right now but the price will drop (statistics show) when the next book in the series is published (which will be in March) and then I’ll get it. Without Merit by Colleen Hoover, Turtles all the way down by John Green, The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo, All the crooked saints by Maggie Stiefvater, and Release by Patrick Ness too hopefully. Maybe this will be the year when I get to read Unwind by Neal Shusterman (fingers crossed)

The 100: 10 Most Heartbreaking Losses On The Show | ScreenRant

Six seasons into The 100, fans know not everything is sunshine and rainbows. Tragedy follows the main characters like their own personal rain clouds. The 100 focuses on what’s left of humanity as they attempt to make sure the human race continues to survive.

Through old space stations, radiation soaked planets, and the dark side of human nature, conflict followed the main characters. There has been a lot of loss on The 100, but these ten losses caused the most heartbreak.

10 Delilah

Though Delilah only appeared in a few episodes as herself in season six, she made quite an impression. As a “host,” her body became the vessel for Priya’s mind drive. Before that, however, she became close with Jordan Green.

Delilah was clearly suspicious about becoming the host of a Prime. After hearing Jordan talk about the sleeping inhabitants of the spaceship, she had one request of him. She didn’t want to become just a “face behind the glass.” Unfortunately for Delilah, that’s exactly what happened. When Priya took over her body, no trace of the girl born into it remained.

9 Finn

For some viewers, Finn’s death was well earned. He destroyed an entire Grounder village on a quest to find Clarke, though the Grounders he targeted had nothing to do with her. His death was justice for his crimes.

That being said, his death is one of the most heartbreaking in the series for Clarke and Raven to deal with. Raven hadn’t been on Earth long when she discovered Finn cheated on her with Clarke. Then, she had to witness Clarke take his life. It nearly destroyed her. Likewise, Clarke took the responsibility of ending Finn’s life because she didn’t want him to suffer at the hands of the Grounders, who wanted revenge. It was one of the first hard decisions Clarke shouldered.

8 Maya

When several members of The 100 found themselves held captive at Mount Weather, Maya was a friendly face. Unfortunately, Maya’s time with the series was short. Unlike most of Mount Weather’s inhabitants, Maya thought what her people were doing was wrong. Maya didn’t believe that people should be held and used against their will. She was a dreamer who longed to see the beauty of the world outside. 

That’s why her death hit the show so hard. Maya knew that Clarke’s plan would destroy her people. She accepted it. Maya even accepted that she, too, would be destroyed, though Jasper and Monty wanted to find a way to save her. Her death wasn’t a mercy, like Finn’s. Instead, it was painful, not to mention difficult for Jasper to understand.

7 Jasper

Jasper was never the same after losing Maya. That was the moment he realized the price of surviving on the ground might be too high for humanity.

When the end of the world loomed, Jasper decided he wanted to go out on his own terms. He didn’t want his lifespan determined by his worth for the next generation. He opted to stay behind at Arkadia and choose how he died instead of trying to find a way to survive the coming radiation. It was heartbreaking for the fans who loved Jasper, but at least he was one of the few characters who got to choose his own path.

6 Lincoln

Lincoln and Octavia was the fan-favorite couple no one saw coming. When he held her in a cave at their first meeting, a lot of fans thought he would evolve into an enemy instead of an ally. Instead, he became Octavia’s first love and attempted to make peace between the Grounders and the people from the sky.

Lincoln had the misfortune of being a Grounder when Pike garnered a lot of favor amongst Arkadians. Pike blamed the Grounders for all the trouble they faced on Earth. He was repeatedly thwarted by those who disagreed with his methods. Pike made an example out of Lincoln, executing him while Octavia watched.

5 Kane

Marcus Kane went from being a possibly corrupt official to the moral compass of the show. He was often the voice of reason for his people, convincing them to try to do the right thing instead of the violent thing. Season five saw him suffer fatal injuries and end up in stasis until season six.

Unfortunately for Kane, when he woke up, he was no longer in his own body. Abby used the technology of the Primes’ memory drives to place his mind in a new body. Feeling like an accessory to murder, and accepting that his time was up, Kane chose to end his life. He wanted his people to live their own lives, not steal someone else’s. Kane went out with his moral compass firmly intact.

4 Lexa

The first Grounder Commander fans met did more than just inspire armies. She also stole Clarke Griffin’s heart. Clarke had been through so much as the leader of her generation that her getting to take a breather and fall in love was a welcome change of pace for the show.

When Lexa actress Alycia Debnam-Carey nabbed a lead role in Fear The Walking Dead, however, the character was written out of the show. She left via a bullet meant for someone else. Her accidental death didn’t sit well with fans. A young woman who commanded her people with strength and force losing her life by an accident was particularly heartbreaking.

3 The Culling On The Ark

When The 100 premiered, the titular teenagers were sent to Earth instead of being floated for their crimes. It was a way to alleviate some of the pressure on the Ark’s resources and see if the Earth was viable again. Sending 100 kids to Earth wasn’t enough relief for the Ark, however. An air leak in one area, and too many people on the space station, meant a lack of air for the population, let alone other resources.

That’s where the Culling came in. Leaders initially wanted to cut off a whole section of the Ark, but Abby and others convinced them to allow people to volunteer to save their people. More than enough inhabitants of the Ark volunteered to sacrifice themselves so that their children could live a little longer. The Culling marked the first huge sacrifice of the show, and it was a sign of things to come.

2 Abby

The show’s resident doctor, Abby spent her time on the show primarily patching people up from injuries and planning for the worst. She watched her daughter march off to a fight over and over again. Season six forced her into an impossible situation.

Abby turned members of Planet Alpha’s population into Nightbloods so the Primes could have more hosts. She had to use Madi to do it, and eventually couldn’t anymore without killing her. Abby turned herself into a Nightblood to use her own body to create serums instead. That move saved Madi’s life, but it cost her her own. Russell made Abby the next vessel for his wife. When Clarke discovered her mother was already gone, she killed the woman using her mother’s body, along with most of the other Primes.

1 The Earth

All of the losses on this list have been human ones, but this might be the most heartbreaking loss of all for the show. The entire run of The 100 has been about a small group of people just trying to find a way to survive. After finally attempting to make peace between all parties involved on Earth, one antagonist ruined it for everyone.

The planet was already radiation soaked with a single area having plant and animal life. That area suffered from a bomb thanks to the events of season five, causing everyone to give up the planet they’d fought so hard to live on. For a show about finding a home and surviving, the loss of the planet hits hard.
