#HE ALSO WENT TO THE FUCKING AZORES???

Tell me about Josué, does he have hopes and dreams? Or he content spend his days a-whalin? Habla él español?
He worked on a dairy farm in Faial and got to the point where he was like ‘fuck cows fuck this beautiful boring island fuck not having a lot of money’. After spending enough of his life negotiating provision trades with the whaleships that came and went, he finally decided to join one, lured by its promise of ‘no cows, see the world, make lots of money’.
He liked being able to See The World, but he also learned that there was actually little World-Seeing to be had on a whaler. Maybe three weeks of liberty a year! That wasn’t enough to make the rest worth it! And if you liberty’d too much the captain yelled at you! If he wanted to see a view of unending ocean for 4 solid years he’d just stand on the shore back at home! He also didn’t make the money the industry promised him, instead ending up indebted to the agents for another turn. He was never able to pay off his advance, and delved too freely into taking out liberty money and buying things from the slop chest that he’d have to ultimately pay back with interest. Now he just wants to miraculously make enough from this trip to pay off his debt, go back to the Azores, buy some land there, set up a little shack, get some chickens (no cows!), and spend his afternoons chilling outside on his doorstep with a bottle of wine. If he can’t do that, he’ll desert and figure it out. Later on in the comic Josué and Ezra def have a conversation about their diverging ambitions. Josué cannot FATHOM why Ezra would possibly want to stay on a whaler.
And yeah he can speak a decent amount of Spanish. I like to think Josué has a real knack with languages in general and just…doesn’t really realize it or think it anything fancy.

I can’t wait for season two of HotD. I just want people to see that Rhaenyra is a muppet who really doesn’t do anything important and Jace, Daemon and Mysaria literally carry all the wins on their backs. Like home girl just sat there throwing out orders and taxing people for nothing but to pay for her big feasts.
“Well Aegon did such a good job fighting. Permanence disfigured and infertile.” He still fought… this is the guy who wanted fuck all to do with the throne and literally had tears streaming down his face walking towards it. He still fought for his family, he may not have been good and he knew that, he knew he couldn’t fight, he stopped training to drink and fuck whores but he still fought for the throne and his family. That must tell you on it’s own how much he actually cares for them, Rhaenyra say on her arse and did nothing, she had a dragon you’re telling me she couldn’t of blew some fucking fire on them?
And having people refer to Rhaenyra as Maegor and Daenerys is literally insulting towards them. Maegor was a mean son of a bitch, he did everything, he did it, he went out and did he was cruel and did not care for consequences but he did everything for his throne, he wouldn’t sit there and let other people rule it hoping they respect his right. He’s just go out and make sure people respect his right. Daenerys saved multiple people and freed a lot, everyone saying she’s mad but she had to build her family from the ground up and gain everything, nothing was handed to her she earned it, she went mad in the end and honestly, so would I if I went through what she has. They’d both be fuming being put on the same level as her.
Anyway, rant over, how’s the new job been lovely? X
Yes! The new job has been great! Thank you.
Yeah unfortunately I think they're gonna have Nyra be a girlboss in season 2 which on the one hand is great bc Emma will slay but not great bc it will just divide people.
Like you can really tell the people who read the book before HotD was out and the people who only got into F&B after the show aired.
I get it. I love Rhaenyra and I want her to be a badass but that's just not who she is. She's a spoiled lazy ass brat.
The only similarities between her and Dany are their last name, hair color, and the fact that they both had deformed stillbirths.
That's it.
I also hate when people say that Dany and her dragons are Nyra and her strong boys reincarnated.
Like bitch no. Dany is Aegon the Conqueror reincarnated and Drogon is Balerion reborn. It's also suggested that Rhaegal and Viserion are Meraxes and Vhagar reborn respectively. Which would mean that Jon could possibly represent Visenya, and perhaps Young Griff could come into play as Rhaenys but that's a huge stretch
Dany is also azor ahai but that's an entire different rant/conversation

18. A mystery you need solved NOW
What the fuck caused the dragons to die out. Cuz I don't buy into some grand maester/Hightower conspiracy, and clearly there were still healthy dragon eggs based on Morning, and speaking of Morning wtf even happened to the still living dragons between the end of the Dance and the dying of the last dragon? Morning somehow died at age 24? Silverwing and Cannibal also died somehow in that short span of time despite being in good health even though dragons can live to over two hundred years old? Where tf did Sheepstealer even go did he just die randomly too? What went on there???? Also what was in Nymor's letter, but I have my theories about Nymor's letter.
19. A theory you’ve adopted as canon
Beyond the ones that are very obviously going to become canon but just haven't been confirmed yet, like Jon's resurrection and his role with Dany in the Azor Ahai prophecy and R+L=J? Probably my theory about Nymor's letter and the real circumstances of Rhaenys's death and Aegon's decisions surrounding the end of the First Dornish War. And also Visenya a) using dark magic to conceive Maegor since she and Aegon were not having intercourse for any other reason except Aegon needing an heir in case Aenys died b) being a big ole lesbian.
#personal#answered#anonymous#the dying of the dragons is so fucking weird because even if you buy into the maester conspiracy#that still leaves open a bunch of questions that are unresolved#literally what caused them to go from 'reduced but possibly recovering' to 'literally extinct' in less than a quarter century?????

stannis baratheon is such an underrated and misunderstood character. he is the literal definition of a middle child, always overlooked and ignored.
since he was a child, he was overshadowed by robert's strenght and renly's charm. he lost his parental figures and his older brother went away to the vale. he had to step out and act like the lord of storm's end.
then, the robert's revolution happened.the storm's end's siege started and he bodied the targaryens. he was barely an adult and he managed to keep the castle during years despite all the adversities and his lack of charisma as a leader. he was like 18 and he fought until the end, never giving up. he was an essencial part of robert's victory.
stannis has daddy issues. he just needs to be reassured by an older male figure, but he never got that. his brother was away, parents dead and then robert came back and he was an asshole. he not only overlooked him as lord's of storm's end, but he humiliated him by having sex in his bed during his wedding. he grew resentful, but he was always loyal to robert until the end.
he was a sad, lonely man whose only true friend was an ex-smuggler, not the type of person you imagine a lord associating with. he was wedded to a woman he did not love nor respect and his only daughter and heir, the only person he loved, was almost killed by a toy he bought. his life was always full of tragedy, resentment and self-pity.
he was the perfect person to be targeted by a cult and so he was. he was completely brainwashed by melisandre and the religion of r'hllor. imagine if all your life you have been the second choice, the one no one likes, that dude who is only kept around because he is useful and then a beautiful woman comes to you and tells you you're the chosen one and your fate is to save the world from complete destruction, who wouldn't have become a religious fanatic? melisandre was giving him the respect and appreciation no one gave him before.
he singlehandedly defeated renly and joffrey with just one death. and that death broke him even more and made him madder. he just killed the brother he practically raised and that was the point of no return. if he wasn't azor ahai renly's death would just be for nothing. the war he was fighting would be for nothing. all the death, all the suffering would just be for nothing.
he was possibly the best strategist and military man in the war of the five kings. tywin is just ruthless polician, not that good in the battlefield, he was constantly beaten by 16-year old robb stark. robb stark was a talented warrior and strategist, but he lacked the experience. renly was just vibes and balon greyjoy was an old man with dellusions of grandeur.
however, by no means is he innocent, he killed people in a horrific way, but he was brainwashed by a cult. he burned people and children alive, but he thought that those deaths had a purpose. what is the life of one person compared to the survival of the human race? he was not the only monarch in westeros to sacrifice people for the greater good. dany uses fire as a means to punishment and she sacrificed a person to give birth to her dragons. aegon v killed half of his family trying to get back the dragons, but we don't see those deaths that badly because we understand the endgame. dragons are needed to defeat white walkers. stannis believes he is needed to defeat white walkers.
i think most of the misunderstanding that comes with stannis comes from two places: he has the charisma of a stick and we are never in his mind. we witness his mistakes and tribulations, but we don't see why he makes that decisions. the character see him as a self-righteous prick and that's how we see him, but ned was also kind of a self-righteous prick, but he had certain middle-aged-dad charm and we were with him, we understood him.
stannis is the only king who says "fuck the iron throne i have more important stuff to deal with", he gets his shit together and he heads north to try to help the night's watch with the white walkers. no one else did that. no one else gave a fuck. just him. and book!daenerys won't be so eagered to help north immediately because she will have her own dance of the dragons to deal with, fighting the only kingdom who has a dragon body count. stannis will probably be the only king who sticks around to help in winds of winter.
stannis' fate in the books will be sad, he will probably have a horrible demise. probably in his death he will realise that all the people he burned alive was for nothing and his conscious will make him feel immense pain. he will die knowing that he lost himself trying to fulfill a prophecy that was never meant to be his. because prophecies in the world of ice and fire only bring pain, misery and death.
disclaimer: i don't condone any of his actions, i just think that he's more complex and interesting than most people give him credit for. and every girl deserves to have her middle aged villainous character she will defend until the end.
another disclaimer: in this house we stan book!stannis, if he kills shireen just for defeating the boltons, he's dead to me. (i think he will burn shireen but like for a battle against the white walkers, like a last resort kind of thing).

I don't hold as strong hatred for the Targaryen as you do (don't really hate any of the characters, I like how complex they all are), but yes! It is very GRRM to make prophecy the downfall of a person.
I think it's interesting that they put that prophecy reveal in the same episode with the dream Viserys had of a true male heir with a crown, and how he sacrificed his wife for the heir that died anyway. They said that Aemma would have died anyway but he made that call because of his prophetic dream/dragon dream (as the Targaryens are known for them) , so his belief in his own dream lead him to basically murder his own wife.
For the thing with Targs passing down this knowledge down heir to heir, it's very interesting isn't it? Very politically motivated to retain power, I love the idea that this need to hold power is what truly starts the downfall of the House Targaryen.
Makes you wonder how much is true? How much of the original prophecy has changed after so many retellings? Is it lost after the dance? After so many quick changes between kings and queens did they continue to pass it on? Did Aerys tell the story to Rhaegar or did he discover it himself separately? Did all that secrecy lead to Rhaegar's actions that put the final nail in the coffin of the Targaryen house? I wonder if Aegon I just saw that Targaryens were involved and went oh well better rule them because we have dragons and we're best, then told all his heirs like 'mmm.. actually we are to be kings or we dead'. Others such as Melissandre also believe that an specific person must be king for them to defeat the long night in her case she believes Stannis must be king. The use of prophecy or religion as a way to gain political power is again something like to explore. So many questions so much potential.
I disagree with how some people think that suddenly this knowledge of the prophecy makes Aegon's conquest any less bloody or more noble. It was still very much about political gain, I do think it explains why perhaps the three of them were so willing to leave most of their Valiryan traditions for Westerosi ones, perhaps to make them settle faster into power?
In the books it was already speculated that the Targaryens were aware of this, so I wonder how it would all play out in the books. With Daenerys, Jon and young Griff set to all be in the same continent I'm sure it will be an interesting situation (specially if Daenerys does kill Aegon for being a Blackfyre)
As for the show I hope they develop it and play with it even more, the og show was so afraid of anything magical they rarely touched all the prophecies in the books.
-
All in all I'm so happy that I get to talk about this world again.
I actually don't hate them, I love them as villains, far more than a lot of the other ASOIAF villains, but the fact that I see them as villains is a hot point of contention with people who love them as saviors.
And when you phrase it that way that's a VERY VERY VERY INTERESTING parallel to Azor Ahai and Nissa Nissa and I can't imagine that was unintentional. The fundamental concept of sacrificing SOMEONE ELSE for the greater good is a fascinating one, and seeing it not only play out in a very visceral and terrifying way, but to see that Viserys' belief was incorrect anyway, is really pointed to me.
It also paints the entire Targaryen dynasty in a more interesting light, because it begs the question of what they were doing in service of this imagined destiny and also likely demonstrates how radically differently they all interpret that destiny and see themselves within it. Like, this would mean that Maegor the Cruel and Baelor the Blessed and Aegon V and Jahaerys and Rhaegar all did what they did because they knew this prophecy and believed themselves to be the most important part of it. And, not only did they do a lot of fucked up shit, but look at how absurdly different their choices all were. Honestly even just talking this through now makes me way more excited about this whole prophecy concept because that is an incredibly interesting avenue to explore.

How do you feel about the idea of Stannis sacrificing Shireen to stop the Wall from falling? It might be an Azor Ahai-like move for him to pull (if that is what motivates him), and fit into the "what is one child against the kingdom?" debate.
I do realize I am extremely biased on this topic so I might be wrong but I'm dying on the hill that dnd didn't understand what grrm told them when he was talking abt shireen being burned because like... nvm that they def didn't understand the one thing they got right abt the finale, but in order:
'what is one child against the kingdom' debate: extremely right... but the answer is that you shouldn't sacrifice that child for the kingdom which was the character development moment so like he didn't sacrifice edric storm who meant relatively not much to him and he'd sacrifice shireen?
also, I know dnd didn't read that bit, but like... stannis is the dude who in the middle of MY ARMY IS DYING went to tell people 'if I die put my daughter on the throne' when said daughter is basically the brienne of the situation when it comes to how much people would like her ruling, and I'm supposed to buy he sacrifices her?
also: stannis is going to winterfell to take it except the battle of wf is going to take a shitload of a long time to happen because before that goes down a) davos has to show back up with rickon b) news of jon's death must reach them c) bran has to talk to theon d) theon has to not get executed which 99% happens with bran talking through a tree or smth and being like I'M NOT DEAD YET e) possibly sansa shows up with the vale army + jaime/brienne/sandor which means we get all of that first (but like.. jaime's chapter is mid adwd which actually makes sense timeline wise bc we didn't know shit re what happened after so if while the second half of adwd went down jb were offing stoneheart and going to the vale.... it does add up) so like let's say the battle of wf happens like the one of the wall or blackwater ie 2/3rds roughly into wow, when is he going to get back to the wall esp if winter has come and they're stuck in the snowstorms? because I really doubt that
meanwhile shireen is a) at the wall b) in company of her mother who like pretty much doesn't give a single fuck abt her and hated jon anyway c) melisandre who like.... reading her pov she's better than it seemed but honestly she would burn her if it meant r'hollor doing whatever she thinks he's supposed to do so like shireen most likely is getting burned but not because stannis approved of it imvho
now: if I'm wrong and he does that then saving the realm is the only option I accept and like... sorry but I think he'd get himself burned with her at that point not whatever the fucking agamemnon crap they made him pull in the show like if that happens then he dies with her
because like to top this answer off, we're discussing a guy with an extra fucking literal sense of justice that's honestly way over the top to the point that he wouldn't give davos a knighthood if he didn't cut off the finger joints and davos saved his life literally, and we don't presume that if he sacrificed his own daughter that he wants on the throne should he die before he can get it... he wouldn't be up on that pyre with her? because lmao he would think himself that it's not just and he'd punish himself equally and I'm dying on that hill
like again I'm incredibly biased in this sense because we all know how I am with stannis but there is no way he dies a crappy ooc shitty horrid death like in the show - if he dies (which I'm p sure about too bad bc I still think he should actually be king he's the best candidate) he's dying honorably not... like... that and certainly not bc brienne out of everyone kills him and I'm definitely dying on that hill X°D
(also like... how do I put it idt stannis really thinks he's AA and by the time the wall falls it'll be obvious jon is, but like stannis is basically atheist central™ but he's buying into the cult stuff bc a) it makes him feel like these ppl gaf about him b) because IT SUPPOSEDLY WORKS but I mean... 'your grace we need to sacrifice ppl!' 'PRAY HARDER' like honestly idt he's that attached to the idea of being AA so I don't think that would be the motivation at the end of it but still X°D)
#janie writes meta#seethemflying#ask post#stannis baratheon#tagging bc i can idc#ch: stannis baratheon#ch: shireen baratheon

10 questions tag!!
Long post, I'm sorry
Tagged by @safetypineapples 💗🥺 thx
👀rules: answer 10 questions and leave 10 more for the people you tag!
1. Who would you bring to your ult group's concert?
So I had this virtual friend from Brazil. We met because we had the same sun and rising sign and then found out we were born (1 year and) two days apart and called each other "twin". I loved her so much, and still do. When we met she said she didn't like kpop but now she's crazy for Blackpink. At one point we went south and eventually stopped talking, even though we both miss each other and know the other one does too (it's a complicated situation). Since Blackpink is one of my ult groups (along with Stray Kids) and is also her ult group, I would take her to their concert. Damn that was long
2. What language do want to learn?
Korean, but I'm already working on that. ☺️ I'd like to learn Japanese but I don't really have the motivation. A big part of the content I consume everyday is in Korean, so that's a great source of motivation. Also I want to improve my English as much as possible.
3. What is the worst ice cream flavour?
That's a hard one... I could easily tell you the best flavour but idk if I've had enough ice cream to know the worst. Probably chocolate tho, it's nasty and completely ruins the delicious treat that is chocolate.
4. What did you major in? Or what are you planning to major in?
I'm still in high school and I can't see myself doing anything that doesn't have to do with animals so I'm planning on going for Veterinary Medicine.
5. How did you get into kpop?
Buckle up guys, this is gonna be a crazy ride. This happened in 2015/2016. I saw a bunch of people talking about about kpop on the internet and my limited brain thought Kpop was the name of a group so I looked it up on YouTube and watched some BTS M/V but didn't think much of it. So, one day I was looking for some content about Jeff The Killer on Wattpad (awful choice) and stumbled across a Jeff X reader fanfic. It wasn't exactly what I wanted but why not, right? Turns out the reader was dating Jungkook and was in a dance group with BTS, then he cheated on her I think and she killed him and danced in his place in some competition. Then, some how, Jeff got in the story and they banged and tried to kill each other or something. I think she even gets pregnant. Idk. But I managed to go from that to stanning BTS. I also remember the second BTS fanfic I read was Jimin X Jungkook, and in the first chapter one of them couldn't walk already. I really started off on the wrong side of the fandom lol
6. Which country do you want to live in?
I'd like to live in Korea or maybe USA, but not for long. 1 to 3 years. Though I think I'm just gonna stick to Portugal. But I'm probably going to move to the mainland (I'm from Azores).
7. Something you want to say to the leader of your country?
Not much, I'm not really into politics, only that he slayed those blue shorts. I actually like him. For some reason this pic of him (Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa) 👇 went viral a while ago. I think it was something about him being a person and just another citizen instead of a public character/persona.
8. Do you want play any instrument?
When I was younger I was learning to play the clarinet but one day my father forgot to pick me up and I never wanted to return. Now I'm trying to learn how to play the ukulele by myself.
9. What kind of student are you?
I used to be the kind to get good grades without trying to much but at one point It started getting harder and I had never learned how to study so it was fucked up. In addition to that there's depression and an education system that doesn't quite work for me (or for most people). Now I'm recovering a bit but it's really hard. So I'm the kind of student that can't focus on class, "learns" as we solve exercises, gets home exhausted and with no motivation but some how still manages to not fail any class
10. What extreme sport would you like to try?
Tbh, none 😂😅 I'm the biggest pussy.
Tagging: @girl-grouplove @seuljin only if you want of course 💗

How I got my revenge on a Tv Show!
So to begin this story I have to explain, I'm a college student in Portugal (so sorry if my English isn't 100%), I was born and raised in Azores ( some little islands in the middle of Atlantic ocean), in order to pursue college I had to move to the mainland, for this I had to rent an apartment. It's a good apartment, 3 rooms, 2 bathrooms , a living room and a Kitchen and it's in a quiet neighborhood so all good. This was until they started to do construction work in the apartment above. This construction work is made by a tv show called "Querido Mudei a Casa" that literally translates to " Honey I Changed the House ", it's quite famous here, they remodel the entire house, replacing everything in it with new furniture, new floor, you get it, so THEY MAKE A LOT OF NOISE. I'm not the party kind of guy and I'm quite calm and peaceful guy that likes to stay home, have some friends here, drink a bit, play some games etc. , and also I do a lot of my college work at night in the apartment ( I spend most of the day in class )
So to explain this Portugal has a law that you can make noise from 8am to 6pm, most of my classes start around 11/12pm , which works great for me, since I go to sleep around 4am due to all the work I have to do and little plus time for myself. They started drilling the floor at around 8am EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Me and my housemate were shocked by the amount of noise they were doing, we let it pass since they shouldn't take more than a week to replace the floor ( I make that assumption cuz Me and my Dad did it once to our house back in the Island) but no, that noise lasted for the entire time they were there, i got a bit upset since i couldn't sleep but I also couldn't leave the college work undone. So i decided to try and talk with them I went to the upstairs apartment and knocked, then came this really fat and short guy looking at me like I wasn't even there and the talk went like this:
Me: Hi, I'm from the apartment below .
FG: Hey, what do you want ?
Me: I was gonna ask if you guys could start the drilling at around 10am, I'm a college student and I do most of my work at night, some time I only get to sleep at morning , is it possible ??
FG: Nah, we have a job to do, you should go to sleep earlier if you want to sleep.
He closes the door, I was pissed but remain calm, after all it kinda is my fault if I go to bed at that time
Some time goes by and the noise continues, I get grumpier and grumpier, I call the customer service of the show, they said politely that there is nothing they can do about it since it's in the legal rights, I should talk with the guys in the apartment so we can come to a conclusion.
Weeks go by, I'm wondering " That fucking apartment is the same size as mine, how the fuck are they taking so long ?" until a glorious morning I wake up, normal routine, I go to the bathroom to take a shower, when I turn on the light what do I see, my bathroom full of Clay, everything completely dirty, rocks everywhere and a fucking hole right on top of the fucking toilet. I'm Furious, my house mate arrives home that morning, he is NOT a calm person in this situations I tell him all about this, we both go to the upper apartment, I convinced him to let me talk , he agrees. I knock on the door To my surprise, the same fat guy, but this time he was looking at me Me: Uumm, You guys opened a hole in my bathroom.
He interrupts
FG : Yeah yeah, we know, we already covered our part
Me: Okay, but what about ours ?
FG: Can't you guys fix it ? I mean , you are men , can't you fix the house ?
My friend is furious, but I calmly put my hand on him and keep talking
Me: No way, you broke it, you're gonna fix it unless we have to call the landlord and sue your show for this.
FG: Okay okay, we will fix it, no need to get all formal
We came back to the house, we could hear them making fun of us because of the hole, my friend is furious, but I'm calm because I already thought of a way to get back at them.
Couple of days go by when they finally decided to fix the hole, Two nice guys came down and fixed it, said they were sorry and everything, we chatted, they were cool, but my revenge was already planned, sorry dudes. Me and my friend both have JBL speakers, the good one that can really play loud, this is where it begins.
Every day i started to go to bed ealry now, so I can be up at 8am, first I take a shower and set up for college then i plug both of the speakers to my laptop, search for " Japanese Porn" ( You know, cuz Japanese girls scream like hell in a high pitched voice) leave the volume up in maximum and let it play in a loop until I get home, around 6pm.
Oooh my amusement was speechless, my house mate agreed with this since we both started to leave the apartment earlier. Until one day we heard a knock on our door. IT WAS THE FAT GUY
FG: HEEY, I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING BUT IT HAS TO STOP, WE ARE RECORDING TODAY AND WE CAN?T HAVE THOSE WEIRD NOISES IN THE BACKGROUND (They record the episodes in the house so they can authenticate the sound in the house and everything, they could easily use a studio for the sound but they are really cheap on saving money)
ME: Nah, Since you are in the legal right to make noise from 8am to 6pm, I am too, I can make the noise I want in that period of time FG: That will really hurt the show and you know that, people love this show, probably your Mother watches it and loves it Me: Maybe, but she knows how things are around here so she doesn't really mind, I don't really mind and the landlord doesn't mind, can't you fix it yourself ??
The fat guy goes mad, starts stomping the ground as he turns around and leaves
This continues, I see the camera crew arriving from my window, they enter the apartment, knock on my door, I didn't even awnser, just some Loud Lewd Noises all day .
This goes for 3 days straight with the camera crew, but one day they never tried again. I think the episode was cancelled due to the noise, the funniest part is that they make this constructions free for people, the only revenue they gained is from the viewership of the espisodes, It puts a smile on my face when I know that they just wasted a budget for nothing Aah Sweet Revenge !!!
(Ps: When the camera crew came I was on vacation for the week , so I was still home but still blasting the Lewd Noises, but wearing my headset of course so I could Barely Hear it)

i have so many mixed feelings about the season finale.
so.
many.
mixed.
feelings.
and i don’t really know where to start... so i think i’ll start at the end. and i’ll start by making a separation in my analysis.
1. if we look at s08 ep6 on its own
i’ve been writing Jon Snow since January 24th, 2017. s07 happened during April-May 2017, if i remember well? which means, some of you who’ve been with me from the start of my blog have watched me watching s07; have watched my reactions and my opinions and my rants. ever since then, i have been very open and very vocal about how much i loathed the idea of Jon as the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, and Jon eventually sitting this throne as king --- those of you who’ve followed me for less time also likely know this very well, because gods know i never shut up about it. so, considering the finale that Jon had... someone might tell me: you must be very happy! and, well... i am very happy. i was not made to see Jon sitting the throne. i was not made to see everyone call him Agony and hail him and glorify him. i got to see him wearing his black cloak again and returned to where he belongs --- away from thrones and kings and queens, away from the ungrateful northern lords, making peace with the free folk. hell, i even got to see him hugging Ghost, imagine. who would have thought, Jon Snow loves his soulmate more than his own life. sarcasm aside... yesterday, i told a couple of you that i had two final, very little requests of ep6: i wanted to see Jon crying (because i had read the leaks, and thus i knew what to expect) and i wanted to see those beautiful curls freed from the bun. and i got this. i got to see, FINALLY, after weeks, Jon Snow and not Agony Targaryen. loyal to the end, struggling with the cruel decision he had to make, quoting master Aemon, accepting his fate, doing his duty no matter the cost --- as he once did with Ygritte. if we look at this episode only, i got everything i ever hoped for, and for this i am grateful. and yet...
2. we cannot look at s08 ep6 on its own
and this is where it all begins and ends. because ep6 does not exist on its own. does not exist in a void. nothing of what happened came out of spontaneous generation. Dany wasn’t suddenly the mad queen. Tyrion wasn’t suddenly clever again. Grey Worm wasn’t suddenly thirsty for blood and revenge. Jon Snow wasn’t suddenly Jon Snow and not Agony Targaryen. and this is why everything in this season is irredeemable to me, no matter how much i loved Jon’s finale if we look at it objectively and pragmatically.
do you know why i love George’s writing so much? it’s not for the prose --- very honestly, 90% of the persons i roleplay with write better than him. it’s not completely for the storyline, either, though it is amazing --- very honestly, some of the book chapters are boring and long and fillers and with descriptions and details that no one cares about. i love George’s writing, however, for his absolutely brilliant talent to manage such a vast universe. he’s got so many major characters, thrice as many minor characters, even more characters that only appear at the end of the books, listed as part of the great houses and such. the experience of reading A Song of Ice and Fire, and least for me, was that --- you get to a point you lose track of what’s going on, exactly because there is SO MUCH going on. so many characters, so many stories, so many destinies. and i remember myself often asking: how the hell will some of this make sense in the end, this is huge and so complex. and then... then you get to A Dance with Dragons... and, fuck, it does make sense. ALL of it starts tying together. all the details, all the little plot twists, all the symbolism, all the foreshadowing --- it all comes around and ties together, it all makes sense. all these many, many parts come together in a whole --- and this is why i praise George so much. this is why i admire his writing so much. because, even if i am upset with some choices, it all makes sense. it all is fluid, coherent, so pleasing to read and to follow and so goddamn captivating.
and then you look at s07 and especially s08... and you find nothing of this. where George does kill a lot of characters, he keeps the bulk of them and considers all of them --- and D&D simply kill them all off for not having any better use for them. where George writes intricate, complex, layered characters and 99% of them are purely made of grey areas and grey morals and so very few are completely good or completely evil --- and D&D turned them completely flat, shallow, predictable, cliché, borderline boring if not downright so. where George named this the world of ice and fire and makes it so that the big, overarching theme is flawed, very different humans trying to gather together to survive the common, legendary foe --- D&D were done with the Long Night in like 40 minutes, and the only thing dark about it was the terrible lighting that makes iconing ep3 a nightmare. and i could go on, but i think i’ve made my point. D&D haven’t the 10th of George’s talent --- and, hey, i can accept this. -i- don’t have the 10th of George’s talent for sure, and very few people in this world have the 10th of George’s talent when it comes to tying together such a huge, deep, complex plot. and i can live with this. i could live with predictable, cliché writing in s07, and still be able to enjoy it at least half the time. i wasn’t happy, but i was content.
but s08? well. s08, the way i see it, was simply two things: 1) D&D trying to be George and trying to go for plot twists and trying to make a bittersweet ending of some sort... and then 2) D&D realizing they are as far from George as the Earth is from Pluto, and going fuck it we’ll resolve everything based on shock value. and i wish i was joking or exaggerating or being sarcastic --- but they have stated this themselves and are proud of it, apparently. you only have to google it and you’ll easily find it. these two gentlemen looked at, say, Daenerys, and asked themselves: we want her to be the mad queen in the end, what can we do to lead to this outcome? and they did it. it’s as simple and as linear as this. and literally everything and everyone, logic and common sense included, gets thrown under the rubble for the sake of making this happen. and this is why i have zero respect and zero credits for them, at the end of all things, even if i did love Jon’s finale when i look at it isolated from everything else.
because.
yes, Jon Snow, the honorable man with a good, kind, merciful heart who does whatever needs to be done for the sake of his people, no matter the toll it takes on himself. check, this is the Jon i know and love. Jon Snow, not a glorified savior who succeeds where everyone else fails, not Azor Ahai reborn, but a tool, an instrument used to bring salvation --- Lightbringer itself. check, this is the Jon i know and love. Jon Snow, who was never destined for a happy ending, carrying the guilt and suffering the consequences of his decisions. check, this is the Jon i know and love. but what happened before this? what about everything that led him to this?
book!Jon and show!Jon were always different, this isn’t a new thing. even during seasons 1-5, where the show followed the book canon for the most part (at least in Jon’s case), they were already different. show!Jon has a lot more personal agency, in that he chooses to do a lot of the things he does --- while book!Jon tends to get sucked into the whole ordeal, and he tries to navigate it as well as he can. for an example: show!Jon offered himself to go with Qhorin Halfhand, book!Jon was chosen by Qhorin and caught by surprise and even lord commander Mormont was like ????. another example: show!Jon sends Grenn to hold the gate against Mag the Mighty and brings on himself the responsibility of commanding the Wall during the attack, book!Jon gets command imposed on him by Donal Noye and then again in the morning by master Aemon. again, i could go on and on, but i have made my point. regarding all this, while i do prefer book!Jon, i never hated show!Jon. some parts, even, like the battle at Hardhome, i honestly loved and i wish i could get that POV in the books.
now, s06... post-revival. this is where the books-show rift happens for good, as they ran out of source material. very sincerely, i did not watch s06 as a whole --- i only watched Jon’s scenes. so if you ask me what was going on otherwise, i don’t know and i don’t really regret this choice. s06 Jon is a sort of limbo for me, because i cannot say if his portrayal was good or bad. clearly, this is when he starts making stupid decisions and being far more reckless, but... as mentioned, this is post-revival. this is a man who was stabbed in the heart by his own sworn brothers, who got wrenched back out of the grave, who immediately got told: hey you gotta keep fighting and you gotta start by going and reclaiming Winterfell and saving your little brother. given this context, can i judge him for not being himself? i can’t and i never did, which is why i accepted s06 (again, re: Jon Snow only) for what it was. and i was content with it, even if the revelation of his parentage for show!canon did not impress me.
s07. this coincided with the birth and infancy of my blog, and honestly i was so excited to get to share this experience with everyone --- and this much was absolutely amazing. i was writing my Master’s thesis back then and i had a lot more free time, so i was able to stay up late and watch it live... and, boy, was that a ride. i had so much fun back then, and all of it thanks to my beautiful followers and friends who were there to live through this with me. but as far as the season itself went... yeah, that was the beginning of the end. because, unlike s06, Jon didn’t have excuses anymore to be stupid and reckless. and yet he still was. he still just grabbed a bunch of sturdy men and ventured into the fucking Frostfangs in the middle of winter without even bringing 1 (one) horse, just to name the most blatant of stupid examples. and the whole glorified superhero savior vibe? my good beans, i wrote a meta with 4000+ words to justify why that frozen lake scene was total bullshit and why Jon did die his second death there --- exactly out of spite for how much i hated it. how much i hated that D&D were turning the boy i love into a commercial protagonist who does the impossible and suffers no consequences and gets to have everyone else’s portrayal tossed under the wreck for the sake of glorifying him further. Rickon was already a plot device, Benjen Stark was a plot device, and i had the sinking feeling it would not stop there. s07 had bad and lazy writing, was terribly rushed and with very little character development, was pointing towards a very obvious and very cliché ending: Jon & Dany, the power couple, sitting the throne, having a baby, living happily ever after.
and today... today i ask myself: how can you fuck up a plot so much, to the point where i wish i was made to see this cliché, predictable ending instead? i spent a year and a half whining about how much i did not want to see Jon sitting the throne... only to now look at the finale and be like --- sweet summer child, what did you know of fear. because, hey, yes, Jon was reborn from his ashes and Agony was cast aside and he got exactly the endgame i prayed for --- but at what cost? to get here, i had to see ALL the northern lords and half his family spitting on him for his decision to bend the knee. to get here, i had to see him literally say: it’s true, my name is Aegon Targayen. to get here, i had to see him avoiding Dany and not having the balls to talk to her about it until the very last moment. i had to see him plan the defenses of Winterfell like a complete stupid idiot who has no clue what he is doing. i had to see him forgetting Ghost is his soulmate. i was even deprived of the thing i love more in Kit’s acting, which is fighting on the ground --- for the sake of an epic dragon battle, yes, but that by rights he should not have survived. i was denied a one-on-one battle with the Night King, no matter who’d win and no matter who’d get to destroy the NK in the end. i got an epic moment of him roaring back at an undead dragon, yes, but what came in the next episodes got me to the point of headcanoning that he died during that moment. i had to see him not even mourn Edd’s death and going for Lyanna Mormont gods know why, who openly questioned and defied him. i had to see him being the by-the-book definition of a douchebag who sits drinking with friends and completely ignoring his girl who’d just lost one of her closest loved ones and was so clearly dissociating throughout that entire feast. i had to see him being described as so stupid that he obviously bent the knee for love and Dany was going to play him like a fiddle. i had to see him practically being made to choose between his family and the girl he loves. I HAD TO SEE HIM ABANDONING GHOST. i had to see him, again, pull away from Dany when she needed him most --- and, yes, in show!canon it is incest and all that, but you don’t have to fuck or kiss the girl you love to be there for her. i was denied, again, 1 (one) decent fighting scene on the ground because all he did at KL was to cut down a few soldiers with a few basic slashes.
and, very frankly, what bothers and disgusts me the most out of all of this hellhole... i had to see character after character ruined, completely ruined in their essence, for the sake of stating: hey Jon Snow is a good guy! Rhaegal, who had to be butchered for the sake of triggering Dany and also because Dany and Jon and Tyrion were too stupid to remember Euron’s fleet still existed. Missandei, who had to be butchered in chains for the sake of triggering Dany. Grey Worm, who had to be metaphorically butchered and turned into a blood-thirsty savage longing for blind revenge for the sake of Agony Targaryen, our lord and savior, being the merciful savior who claims pity for unarmed men. the women of King’s Landing, who had to be raped by northern soldiers, again for the sake of Agony being the good guy who saves one of them. and at the end of the day... Daenerys Targaryen. the little girl who wanted to go home and return to her house with a red door. who was exiled and sold and raped and harassed and humiliated and abused and betrayed and used and objectified. who made terrible choices more than once, yes and i erase none of them, but who made them with a good intention and who paid the price of said choices --- like Jon himself did, like we all, flawed human beings, do. the strong, willful, kind woman who heard Jon’s plea for help and went to save him and his men beyond the Wall and who lost one of her children for it. the queen who wanted to break the wheel and to make this world a better place. the breaker of shackles. Mhysa. she, who was never her father. reduced to this, for the sake of making Jon Snow the good honorable man who does his duty even at expense of his own interest and his own happiness.
dear Mr. Daniel B. Weiss and dear Mr. David Benioff: do you know since when Jon Snow is a good honorable man who does his duty even at expense of his own interest and his own happiness? since always. since 283 AC. since far, far before you got your incompetent, untalented hands on him. and he never needed to be shown as one --- he was one. without the need to sacrifice 90% of the plot and the characters to make him seem so. he IS so. and this is why i’ll never forgive you, even if you did give me exactly the finale i wanted. because what you did to him, in order to bring him here? honestly, you deserve no redemption. ever. and if there is one thing that makes me extremely, utterly, earnestly happy today, it is that never again you will touch him. Jon Snow belongs to George, and he belongs to me, and he belongs to every beautiful talented roleplayer who writes him, and he belongs to every beautiful talented roleplayer who writes muses who interact with him. never to you, again. and for this i thank the old gods of the forest. today, Jon Snow is finally at rest. and, as of today, i can finally stop writing out of spite --- and return to writing because i love this boy.

I think D and D are getting way too much blame from this fandom for the ending. Because if this ending is grrm's ending, then no wonder it is taking him so long to finish the books. It is a shit ending in general. And makes me wonder if GRRM does have some problem with women. I mean his childbirth death thing, the shitton of underage marriages in westeros, how westeros can be way more sexist then actual medieval europe and Dark!dany all add up to something in my opinion, and it aint good.
In the beginning anon, I will admit, I went back and forth on this, wondering if it was George’s fault or Dave and Dan’s fault.
But the thing is, D&D have excluded so much from the books and have changed so much from the books, it’s not difficult for me to believe this was all them.
Certain aspects of the ending I believe are from George - Bran being King, Arya going West of Westeros, etc.
But other things, like Sansa being QITN, are definitely not George. I mean, pretty much from the moment D&D passed over Sansa’s Vale storyline in favor of having her replace Jeyne Poole as Ramsay’s wife in the books, it was a guarantee that Sansa’s ending would be vastly different from the books.
And if D&D can change Sansa’s ending, I certainly believe they can and did change Dany’s.
In the books, Jon may kill Dany and King’s Landing may burn, but without fAegon in the show, I think all of that was just slapped together for the show in a way to make it shocking. If Jon kills Dany in the books, it would be for the Azor Ahai prophecy and, to parallel Jon’s story even more, I think Dany would be brought back, as was hinted at in the show when Sam said Drogon was seen headed toward Volantis.
And if King’s Landing burns, it will be somehow because of fAegon. Dany may be partly responsible, but she won’t “go mad”. Many people have already speculated “the bells” trigger plot was in the books meant for Jon Connington, not Dany. D&D love doing shit like that - taking a plot from the books and giving it to another character - see Sansa again.
I’m still working on that meta on how I think the final Season 7 was supposed to go and I think what I speculate there is likely much closer to the book ending.
Anyway, we’ll know if George ever publishes the books but until he does, I maintain that Dany is good and D&D fucked up for shock value.
And even if mad!Dany was a George plot, D&D still executed it in the most sexist, racist, disgusting way possible so they deserve every single bit of criticism and hate thrown their way. (Though yes, fuck George too if mad!Dany is also planned for the books)

I am not (so) mad at the story, I’m mad at the execution
Here’s some random points because there’s SO MUCH to say there that it would be impossible to put everything in a logical order:
THE SNOW: That was fucking snow. And it was snow because there was no way they could sell the stuff in Dany’s vision as “ash”. BUT IF THERE’S NO NIGHT KING, THERE IS NO SNOW. SO THERE CAN’T BE SNOW IN KING’S LANDING. It’s just a plot device they used to cover their asses. Also, the snow is COMPELTELY GONE 2 weeks later, so it wasn’t even that Winter Has Come because if winter had fucking come it would have been there to stay.
2 WEEKS: there’s a 2 week time-jump where they gather all the nobles for the council (in the most anticlimactic scene of all time may I add). Are you telling me you guys REBUILT the whole Red Keep in 2 WEEKS!? Are you telling me that THE WHOLE CITY was rebuilt IN 2 WEEKS and everyone is just going about their business as we see in the scene when Jon leaves!? Also Jon looked like he had been held prisoner for a lot longer but that’s minor. I’m not even going to comment on Bran.
DROGON: What exactly is the extent of how much a dragon can think and form logical connections!? Are you telling me that Drogon (not Tyrion, not Jon, not Varys, DROGON) was the one that understood that “the problem” was the throne!? Instead of y’know... burning his mom’s killer to ashes? Why the fuck would he just lash out at the throne specifically!? The only logical explanation is that his brain is more developed that we think... like... no, that scene had absolutely 0 sense.
SAM: So apparently he is NOT the writer of the book. There were theories that said Sam had plot armor because he was a mirror of Martin and he was the one that was going to write the book in the end... he didn’t even do THAT... so... why the fuck did he survive 8x03?
JON (here’s the main fuck up imo)
I am a little confused as to what exactly is Jon’s purpose. I get that there’s no mention of Azor Ahai in the show... BUT... if you take a character, you kill him, you REVIVE HIM with Lord of Light powers, you tell viewers he’s a secret Targaryen... and then he does NOTHING for the entirety of the last season where he was supposed to go through a journey... ...what am I supposed to think!?
One could argue that “HIS PURPOSE WAS TO KILL DANY” Okay, but did you stop and think on why Dany needed to be killed in the first place!?
Short answer: SOLELY BECAUSE OF JON’S EXISTENCE AND ACTIONS.
THINK ABOUT IT:
Dany was in Mereen, ruling with an iron fist but following a path.
Dany comes to Westeros.
Dany meets Jon, falls in love with Jon,
Loses Viserion to save Jon (also if the NK didn’t have Viserion he’d never have made it past the wall)
LOSES JORAH TO FIGHT JON’S WAR
THEY TELL HER SHE WON’T BE QUEEN BECAUSE OF JON
All the things that make her go full Hitler are because of Jon Snow’s existence.
If Jon had stayed dead she would have come to Westeros, conquered it in 2 days with 3 DRAGONS (considering what just one did to KL), and that would have been the end of it. No batshit crazyness.
SO... NOW I ASK YOU... WHY. DID JON. RESUSCITATE!? If not to make a mess and NEVER SOLVE ANYTHING. WHY. THERE’S NO EXPLANATION FOR THIS.
The only thing he did after coming back that could be of importance is the Battle of the Bastards, but as we’ve seen, Sansa used LittleFinger to solve that quicker than Jon’s men could ever have.
Jon. Is. Completely. Useless. His character’s only puropose has been to make messes that others had to clean up everywhere he went.
These are just some of the 23956345079 thoughts I’ve had, there’s definitely more but... honestly... I just don’t care enough at this point.

idk i just want to know how you feel ,,, do you also think that narratively what was done to dany made no sense because it completely throws away the fact that she was 'special' in the sense that she had dragons for the first time in hundreds of years, aside from the character assassination? like dany being the dragon queen and the unburnt & mother of dragons is thrown away when it seemed like it was supposed to ... mean something?
honestly nonnie, i feel a lot of things right now and let me try my best to explain them as much as i can, because i have to be honest, i spent most of yesterday very empty following that finale, and now i think i’m finally ready to begin putting some of it into words.
the first is that i just feel like d&d missed the mark entirely when it came to her characterisation. if she was always meant to go mad - why did they have to spend the entire season isolating her from everyone in order to make this happen? it’s made very clear to us that she has no one - she’s at odds with half her advisors, and when that’s not the case, do they make much attempt ( outside of jorah ) to talk to her in a capacity that isn’t related to “my queen”? even jon himself ignores her and avoids her, and then after the reveal that he is her last family, still manages to isolate her but now it’s worse because we know that she was already aware she would be betrayed for him to be king by sheer fact that he has the rightful claim. a storyline which now, in the end, makes no sense other than narrative use to push her closer to madness, might i add? we see her lose her oldest friend, followed by her second dragon to die at the hands of an enemy, we see her lose missandei, we know at this point her army took the hardest hits ( until they respawned in the season finale because where the fuck did they all come from ) and the only thing she wants at this point is to be recognised as something other than “queen” because she’s realising that’s the only thing that she’s seen as, and we get literally none of it.
this was a woman who was loved beyond the narrow sea - a woman who earned her loyalties, even ins how canon. we only need to look at missandei in season 7 - “she’s not our queen because of some king we never knew; she’s the queen we chose” - or tyrion in season 7 - “she protects people from monsters” - to see that her actions were revered there because they were selfless. and suddenly we get closer to this goal that she’s wanted all her life, and in the space of the last few episodes, she physically takes hit, after hit, after hit, on top of the mental trauma of her isolations all through her time in the north, and it just felt so forced as a justification for her going mad so that they - the writers - would cop less critique,
a lot of people keep saying that in the books there’s many more hints for it, but for as many hints of the targaryen madness ( and can i just say on the “madness” - what the fuck is this madness meant to be? clearly targaryens aren’t born bad - viserys took the final loss of giving up his mother’s crown for him to be cruel, and we see they literally have to force it on dany to trigger her “madness”. let me pose a question: is this “madness” or is this just grief and anger and the desire to hurt someone who hurt you, and if so, why do we conflate the two? ) we get as many hints of the opposite. ( Dany had no wish to reduce King’s Landing to a blackened ruin full of unquiet ghosts. She had supped enough on tears. “I want to make my kingdom beautiful, to fill it with fat men and pretty maids and laughing children. I want my people to smile when they see me ride by," ) so for this to be the ending to all of the special things she did, just...? i have to be honest, i thought her destiny books wise would be to die as per the nissa nissa / azor ahai prophecy, and i would have been happy with that.
i would have been happy seeing her dying trying to make a better world, but instead we get a forced death because the show wanted to convey that she “wasn’t done” and wanted to continue her fights elsewhere in breaking the wheel, and it just made no narrative sense to me beyond needing to continue being the final trigger in her descent to “madness”. she is used as a plot device to justify jon still being good, and to justify how good and selfless these men are - did tyrion not kill his lover in jealous rage, after her betrayal, with his bare hands? his own father? did jon not also kill innocent people?
and no, i’m not justifying her acts at king’s landing, it’s more of just a question that even before her acts there, she was already being questioned as going mad - why is it ambitious women are “mad” but ambitious men are “fulfilling their destiny”? and on that, let me reiterate, we went from two competing female power claims in cersei and daenerys, to a council of mostly men who literally laugh at democracy as an ideal, before placing a man in power - and their justification is that he has a good story to tell? that he won’t succumb to emotion? wasn’t the critique on dany and cersei that they were cold and calculating, and yet simultaneously, that they were hysterical, and deranged, and mad? why do we punish women for being emotionless and emotional simultaneously, but we don’t critique their male counterparts? yes, it’s a feudal world and gender roles are still a thing - but this is a show divergent of those books, where we’ve seen modern ideals thrust in before, and at a time where we need women the most, we reverted back to men being the heroes of the story. already, i’ve seen posts and comments on videos from men literally laughing about dany’s rape and saying she deserved it, after what she did. i’m sorry, what? this is 2019, how are we still using sexual violence to hurt women even in retrospect, i’m?
and finally, literally just, i fucking hate the message behind it all. this was a survivor of rape and abuse, who in the end, was a victim to her own mental state and paranoias, and who died yes loved, but unaware of that love. what does that say to so many of us, who resonate with her story? how am i, as someone who has been through my own traumas similar or different, who saw her as someone to look up to, as someone who was special and strong, meant to reoncile that? she wanted to break the wheel and build a better world - is the wheel not in place, still? the iron throne is gone, but we still have a king? we still have lords and ladies deciding who will take the throne next? we have privileged people on the council - and for some of them, underqualified but chosen just because they happened to be there? if the dragons were born for the first time in years, what for? the war against the dead? because she got no acknowledgment for that. what was the point of daenerys targaryen, except for to rid the world of cersei lannister? how did we come from villains like joffrey and ramsay and euron to the ultimate villain being a victim of rape and trauma and abuse? how could the writers even back that development and turn her into that?
and maybe that’s why i’m so bitter at everyone who got their happy endings. i can’t cheer about sansa as queen of the north, because it’s such a sharp contrast to what dany lost. i can’t cheer on jon coming back to the wall, because the only way we got that ending was to destroy dany’s. i can’t be happy about the new council, or the king, when daenerys got so destroyed. and the thing is, i can’t justify her actions or support her, because what she did was wrong, and there’s no explanation behind it, and they’ll never be canon on this blog for that reason alone, that i can’t comprehend why she’d do it - but i also can’t abandon her, or hate her, and i don’t think i’ll ever be able to. one of the writers for the show said now whenever you watch the show, you’ll see her story as the rise of a villain instead upon rewatch, and it just fucking breaks my heart that she’s reduced to that. it’s a time for wolves, but they killed the dragons to get to that point, and i fucking hate it. so in summary nonnie, i don’t understand the point. and i’m hurt, and i’m sad, and i’m numb, and at this point, i have nothing else to say except that i hope george takes the overwhelming backlash from her developments this series and gives her the ending she deserves.

Game of Thrones Has Gotten Kinda Horrible
As a die-hard Game of Thrones Fan: The show had gone to shit after season 6.
Meaning only season 7-8 have been absolutely unfaithful to the source material. They feel rushed, the only have 6-7 episodes each. Longer episodes are not the same as having more episodes Every episode follows a pretty compact portion of the story and characters It feels better paced and easier to follow You have one or two major events per episode, so as not to get overwhelmed or lost.
Sure it’s always entertaining to watch the show. It’s fine to enjoy it as it is.
I have some real issues with seasons 7-8 as a whole, and we are only 3 episodes into the 8th and final season.
It shouldn’t be the final season. THEY SHOULDN’T BE RUSHING AND FORCING THE FINALE LIKE THIS. Truthfully they had enough characters and unfinished character arcs for at least 10 seasons each with 10 one hour episodes. Everything is moving at an ungodly pace it’s hard to keep up at times. We went from a television show that was somewhat slow paced, it gave us time to breathe but never allowed us to get bored. Every other conflict was not fixed in a single night. (Looking at you, Night King)
Also, PLOT ARMOR IS APPARENTLY A THING NOW? You know that thing, where a character is beloved, and liked, and has a purpose so they can’t be killed off. Plot Armor that Game of Thrones was famous for when Eddard Stark lost his head, The Red Wedding, The Purple Wedding, The wildlings, Let’s not forget Jon fucking Snow himself who died.
Imagine this
Game Of Thrones Seasons 7-8 are like a gift The box is pretty, wrapped in shiny sparkly paper, some ribbon, and bow. Super nice to look at Yet, when you open the gift, excited to see what’s in the box. It’s a bag of flaming shit within the heart of your gift.
Would you still be happy is had a pretty presentation to it, or would you be mad someone had cleverly got your hopes up about this very beautiful present, and you just received literal shit in exchange?
It’s cool to look at, it’s pretty and well polished. But, It’s lacking depth. Sure the Dragons are very cool D&D, They cost a lot huh? You know who is also cool, and more important to Jon then Daenerys and her very cool dragons. Ghost. Where is Jon and Ghost? They started the journey together?
(Just a mention on how Jon is finally told about his parentage, and whose lines he actually belongs too, and how we have no time, nor does Jon get any time to process what and who he is and wants to be.)
The Night King (White Walkers) is presented in both the books and the television show to be one of the main driving forces in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. There are too many prophecies, legends, and history to just ignore here. The Night King is not a villain that should have been taken out so easy. (I mean easy as in, he waits to give Arya and opening, but more on that later) In the books, the Night King (or at least the White Walkers) are always kind if looming, so menacing with an unknown purpose.
In the show the built him up the same. Only they failed to explain him Why did Craster give his baby sons to him? Why is he back now? Why does he turn his back on the children of the forest? What is his ultimate goal? WHY DOES HE WANT TO ERASE HISTORY? Why is Bran the most dangerous thing for him? Is this Night King, in fact, the same as the First Night King that brought the eternal Long Night (THAT WASN’T JUST A SINGULAR NIGHT, BUT AN ACTUAL APOCALYPSE THAT NEARLY WIPED OUT MAN KIN) Has this Night King met the original hero of man Azor Ahai, and was he slain by the legendary weapon Lightbringer? If the Night King is back now, does that mean Rhaegar Targaryen actually managed to complete the prophecy? Was Rhaegar the Prince that was promised, was Lyanna Nissa Nissa, and is Jon Lightbringer?
Now coming full circle back to the Arya shock.
No
Nope
No
I love Arya, and I believe they picked the perfect person for her when they cast Maisie. She is not Azor Ahai She is not Lightbringer The Catspaw claw is not Lightbringer Lightbringer was probably Valyrian steel, but it was probably an even more magic blade then the catspaw, Unless the catspaw was the original Lightbringer and that’s why Samwell saw it in a book at the citadel…. That would be so dumb. So, So dumb. Plus Arya doesn’t have the elements to be Azor Ahai. She’s not Ice and Fire. Other then it being a shocker, and looking cool. Arya shouldn’t have been the one to take down the Night King. The communities are already driving home that they could sense a blood drop, but not her. Also, why wouldn’t they swarm Bran?
Since the Night King was just gonna stroll up anyway, and Bran already knew Arya would ninja out of nowhere, why does Bran pat Theon on the ass and send him charging into an UNNECESSARY death.
Since the first book/episodes we hear whispers about a prince that was promised. We heard history, songs, legends, and etc. None of them as mentioned as the Azor Ahai prophecy. Melisandre’s entire character arc and the story is based around this one prophecy. There is even an entire religion about it.
Melisandre even stated that the LORD OF LIGHT brings people back to life with the purpose of stopping the LONG NIGHT. Why was Jon brought back to life if he is not Azor Ahai? Why would the Lord of Light bring Jon back if he wasn’t a key component in stopping the Night King? Jon’s important, and it obvious he isn’t important in the fact he has a better claim to the throne than Daenerys just for drama and to rattle her. Jon was not brought back to be THE KING Jon was brought back to defeat the NIGHT KING and the LONG NIGHT. I thank you all for coming to my Ted Talk. Next Week I’ll touch on why Daenerys and Jon are a garbage couple.

I basically don’t want any part of fix-it fics that take into account Jaime’s extremely OOC behavior in 8.04-8.05, because whoever that character is, he’s not Jaime and he doesn’t deserve Brienne.
However, I am onboard for fix-its and theories that pretty much erase big chunks of S8, like:
Game of Thrones is the Northern version of Westerosi history and everything after the Battle of Winterfell is a handwave by a storyteller who’s really drunk at the end of the tale, and his audience doesn’t care about what happened to the South and Lannisters anyway. What happened to King’s Landing? It blew up IDK, whatever. They just know all the Lannisters went South and were never seen again and this storyteller made up some bullshit reason why. However there are a bunch of tall blondes running around on Tarth who beg to differ about their ancestors Brienne the Evenstar and her consort Jaime.
Always one to hedge her bets, Cersei also hired the faceless men to take out Jamie and Tyrion. Through intervention from Tyrion and Bronn (with the same Highgarden bribe) that plot is stopped, and they buy out a new contract from Jaqen H’gar and arrange for the faceless man to take Jaime’s place. He switches faces with Jaime, dumps Brienne, rides South. (They pretty much have to lock Jamie up to carry this off, because he would NOT have been having it). Tyrion helps him get to Cersei and their conversation was for the benefit of anyone overhearing them (Jaqen did not imitate Jamie very well, hence the “never cared much for the innocents” line and forgetting about the golden hand.) Jaqen made sure that Euron and Cersei both died, then put Jaime’s face on a dead body next to Cersei. Eventually Jaime escaped where they had locked him up and he has a new face, since Jaqen took his. He finds Brienne in King’s Landing, sworn to the Kingsguard, and is furious. Fortunately, it is no longer a lifelong position by decree of Tyrion, who confesses to Brienne about the deception and assures her Jaime had nothing to do with it. She retires from the Kingsguard shortly after and takes up her father’s seat as Evenstar of Tarth, with an unrecognizable Jaime at her side, possibly under a new name, now that he is believed dead.
Melissandre cast one last spell when she dissolved at the end of “The Long Night”. She was pretty PO’ed that all of her prophecies have been wrong all along and the Red God has been leading her astray all these years for some punk kid to just stab the Night’s King with a knife. She tried to cover it with the “blue eyes” gambit but seriously, what happened to the Prince That Was Promised she has been searching for all her life? So she gets one more blow in from Team Stannis by magically giving Daenerys Jon Connington’s PTSD about the city bells (because why else would she react that way, seriously) and giving Jaime a sudden personality transplant. Thus fucking over Team Daenerys, Team Jon, and Brienne (for killing Stannis), and letting the Iron Throne go to pretty much whoever’s left at the end, shrug.
The Night’s King actually merged with Bran, or maybe took over Bran’s body at the end of the Battle for Winterfell. The NK then used Bran’s weirwood abilities to take control of Dany, Jaime, Jon, and Tyrion via human-warging in order to manipulate his way onto the the throne of Westeros and get rid of the remaining dragons, Azor Ahai, and Lightbringer. Now he rules Westeros uncontested disguised as Bran Stark and will let the Seven Kingdoms fall apart, the Citadel fall into ruin, the Night’s Watch become obsolete, and it takes a long time for someone to realize that Bran never ages, never sleeps, and is never cold even as Winter slowly returns and the dead start to rise again.
etc.
(If these premises or similar have been done already please tell me so I can read them)

You know what the sad thing is about Show! Jorah Mormont dying?
When Podrick sings Jenny of Oldstones the song could apply to any character. But it is completely patent that Daenerys is at least one of them.
If you think about it, Jenny dances with her ghosts for what seems like forever given the fact that "she never wanted to leave" is repeated more than once. Three ghosts are mentioned on the same verse:
"The ones she had lost" is about Drogo. The first one she loved and lost so quickly.
"The ones she had found" is about Jon Snow who now she knows is Aegon Targaryen, the last living member she has of her house, which means she is not alone anymore.
And "The ones who had loved her the most" applies to Jorah.
Jorah stops spying on her and refused the pardons, knowing he would likely never go home and that was the thing he wanted the most in the world. He rejected to go home because he believed in her when she was nothing more than in two Kings. It's likely because of this that Varys pays more attention to her and turns to her in the end, and brings Tyrion with him. He went against Viserys because he saw in her more than just thirst for vengeance. He follows her to The Red Waste. He tells her about Astapor and getting the Unsullied. After she kicks him out for his betrayal, he came back twice, knowing he was supposed to be beheaded on sight. He contracts greyscale the first time and has to deal with it during the second time.
THE WORST PART is that until Qarth everything was fine. But in the episode The Ghosts of Harrenhal (2x05), two things happen:
Xoan asks her: "Tell me…how long has your man servant been in love with you?" And Daenerys is flabbergasted because she didn't even noticed.
Then when he was trying to explain why he thought she deserved the throne, he slipped up and said: "There are times when I look at you and still can't believe you're real".
That's when Daenerys realizes that Xoan was not joking. And you can actually see their faces after he says that. He regrets it immediately because he did not intend to let her know.
And she looks like she wants someone to kill her. Because obviously she doesn't want a man old enough to be her father, or a disgraced knight from a lower house to be her husband or lover. But also because she's a bit disgusted by it. If you think about it, she has every reason to mistrust him considering her previous life of people using her.
That scene ends with her changing subject and it takes a few seconds for Jorah to recompose and answer back, since he's being blatantly rejected. Afterwards it's like Daenerys distances herself from him so she won't lead him on unwillingly. The familiarity between them is lost.
Then, on 5x08 Tyrion meets Daenerys and says: "He worships you. He's in love with you, I think", putting into words what we all know. Jorah doesn't even get to say it himself until he's saying goodbye to her in 6x05.
On 7x06 Tyrion says again that "Drogo, Jorah, Daario, even this Jon Snow. They all fell in love with you." She dismissed it to talk about Jon being in love with her. But before leaving beyond the wall, when Jorah and Daenerys are saying goodbye, he's about to tell her something and she cuts him off, they don't want to admit that he might not make it back.
He did everything he could to convince Daenerys that he truly did love her, and she didn't get to understand him until his death. I think mainly because she still thinks that all he feels for her is only infatuation or lust.
Now, in 8x03 the Night King is finally defeated by Arya. The crazy thing about this episode is that after Melisandre was looking for Azor Ahai for years, they didn't even mention if his rebirth is real or not (we'll have to wait for the books to enlighten this). But, there are two things connected to the legend in the episode:
Arya kills the Night King, so we could assume she is Azor Ahai.
Azor Ahai forged Lightbringer three times and only the last time he achieved what he wanted, when he put the sword through his wives heart, the one he loved.
Now, back to Jorah's death. There's an allusion to the legend with the roles reversed. First, he was wielding Heartsbane during the battle. The meaning of heart we all know it. Though, bane means a cause of distress or a poison which causes death. Azor Ahai killed his wife to save humankind.
Jorah Mormont is not going to kill the woman he adores, so he sacrifices himself for her to live. I'm not saying they are Azor Ahai and Nissa Nissa reborn. I'm saying that his death is so unexpected and violent, combined with Daenerys realising finally that he means it when he says he loves her, and that she loves him back (could be romantically or not) that it breaks her heart.
By sacrificing himself, he unknowingly kills the both of them metaphorically. His death could be her heart's bane. And it's just so sad that he's been trying so hard to show her how much he loves her and then he dies without knowing that now she knows it.
But what I hate the most is that the one person that wanted nothing more than to see her on the throne is not even going to be there if she wins. And that Jorah Mormont deserved to live because his love on the show is so pure, so loyal that he becomes one of the best people. AND that he would have been so happy to see Daenerys on the throne because her happiness would have made him happy in the end.
PS: fuck Melisandre for not bringing back people back to life before committing suicide.

I think the Faith needed to approve R/L for J to be seen as R's heir by every1. The North might see J as trueborn since R's marriage to E was only through the 7 but the whole realm needs to see J as R's heir for King Jon to work. R/L having a wedding means nothing if it's not legally sanctioned, so if RL called themselves having a southern marriage bc R thought he could do what ancient Targs did (lol) then Jon is still a bastard. If they did it under the OGs then he's only trueborn to the North.
true too but I don’t think it matters? I mean let’s be real when r+l comes out however it comes out most likely aegon and dany already had the showdown, the zombies will show up and it’s going to be blatantly obvious that jon is azor ahai since resurrections should have a point in book canon, and the faith most likely won’t matter half as much as it does now (if the sept blowing happens then bye and if dany torches KL... bye as well) never mind that grrm hates the faith bc it’s obv. the catholic church and as a former catholic he most likely hates it, so... when it comes down to it I don’t think anyone will give a flying fuck whether the faith would have considered the marriage valid or not because the faith won’t exist anymore or it won’t have relevance if it does, and if it goes the way I think (dany goes back to essos and jon gets the throne without really wanting it because he’s the best candidate they have left before the kindgoms split)... then even if he was a bastard (technically) no one would gaf since at that point he’ll have saved everyone from the zombies anyway XD like however it went eventually it’s completely irrelevant to the story beyond the obvious plot drama revolving around it, but I don’t think it matters when it comes to the conclusion. XD
also, other ask:
Since GRRM likes to do twist fantasy tropes, I think the situation with Jon is this: while Jon is the "Lost Prince" trope, the trope will be played with and less fairytale-ish in that Jon is Rhaegar's son, but he won't be trueborn, or at least, acknowledged to be trueborn. He won't be Rhaegar's Legal Heir, the One True King. He'll just be Rhaegar's bastard. In a sad way, Jon's life and identity doesn't change, bc he's still a bastard, just someone else's. I think that fits GRRM's writing style.
actually I think it works better if he’s legitimate? in the sense that to me jon’s storyline is basically ‘going through all the chosen hero tropes and instead of it going well it goes bad and eventually everything he wants isn’t what he expected when he gets it’ and he’s more chosen hero than lost prince, but like tldr:
in the beginning jon’s main issue is that he wished he was trueborn and him being a bastard ruins his life/has caused him endless issues, except that in your usual chosen hero story the main character is with a family he hates/that hates him when jon has one person who doesn’t like him (cat) who still was fine with letting him grow up in wf and tangentially sansa but for the rest ned loves him and the other stark siblings do too
chosen hero usually leaves and finds a better family/better friends, which jon technically does... by getting into the NW which is basically shit and a glorified prison and doing it at fourteen basically means closing any other way to have a nice life also he has a few good friends and so on but they’re not automatically better than his family and in the end most of them conspire to kill him
chosen hero also usually finds the woman of his life and has his first amazing love story... and jon gets it with ygritte except that we all know how it went and she dies in her arms giving him even more trauma
chosen hero usually has adventures at the end of which he gets a good comeuppance.... and jon gets the lord commander position, which you’d think would be good and instead he gets murdered
like each single thing that happens in jon’s storyline is the usual steps of the chosen hero story except that every time they happen to him it goes sour. with this premise, I think it’s a lot more dramatic irony if he finds out he’s actually not a bastard... except he’s a targ and not a stark so it’s not the family he wanted desperately to belong to, and the moment it turns out he’s not a bastard it comes with a bunch of responsibilities/drama that he doesn’t want anything to do with because why tf would jon want the throne or to be involved with southern politics and so on? he wouldn’t want that and it would only separate him further from what he considers his real family and so on, and it still would be exactly what he wanted in the beginning... at the end of which he might reconsider and wished he had stayed snow xD like imvho if jon is legitimate is absolutely a deconstruction of his archetype/of what tropes grrm wants to do with him so like... imvho he most likely is legit also because it makes for better plot drama if he is, but that’s mvho of course xD ;)
