i know this won't be available everywhere, but especially if you live in a larger city where a lot of folks are affected by opioid use/addiction, it's a really good idea to ask local pharmacies, and even food banks if they are giving out free narcan (naloxone). this can also be found at certain behavioral health offices as well, my case manager is able to get them for me for free. narcan is a life saving medication that can temporarily halt an opioid (oxycodone, hydrocodone, heroin, fentanyl, codeine, morphine, etc.) overdose while you wait for emergency medical services to arrive.
opioid overdose is distress of the respiratory system, meaning that the person overdosing likely is struggling to, or can't breathe at all. it's very important to watch to see if the person is dealing with labored or shallow breathing.
here the official use guide:
[Image ID start: Two screenshots from the FDA's Narcan (Naloxone HCl) Quick Start Guide infographic. It reads:
"Narcan (Naloxone HCl) Nasal spray quick start guide. Opioid Overdose Response Instructions.
Use NARCAN Nasal Spray (naloxone hydrochloride) for known or suspected opioid overdose in adults and children.
Important: For use in the nose only.
Do not remove or test the NARCAN Nasal Spray until ready to use.
1.) Identify Opioid Overdose and Check for Response Ask the person if they are okay and shout name.
Shake shoulders firmly and rub the middle of their chest.
Check for signs of Opioid Overdose:
Will not wake up or respond to your voice or touch
Breathing is very slow, irregular, or has stopped
Center part of their eye is very small, sometimes called "pinpoint pupils".
Lay the person on their back to receive a dose of NARCAN nasal spray.
2.) Give NARCAN nasal spray
Remove NARCAN nasal spray from the box. Peel back the tab with the circle to open the NARCAN nasal spray.
Hold the NARCAN nasal spray with your thumb at the bottom of the plunger and your first and middle fingers on either side of the nozzle.
Gently insert the tip of the nozzle into either nostril.
Tilt the person's head back and provide support under the neck with your hand. Gently insert the tip of the nozzel into one nostril, until your fingers on either side of the nozzle are against the bottom of the person's nose.
Press the plunger firmly to give the dose of NARCAN nasal spray.
Remove the NARCAN Nasal Spray from the nostril after giving the dose.
3.) Call for emergency medical help, Evaluate, and Support
Get emergency medical help right away.
Move the person on their side (recovery position) after giving NARCAN Nasal Spray
Watch the person closely.
If the person does not respond by waking up, to voice or touch, or breathing normally another dose may be given. NARCAN Nasal Spray may be dosed every 2 - 3 minutes, if available.
Repeat Step 2 using a new NARCAN Nasal Spray to give another dose in the other nostril. If additional NARCAN Nasal Sprays are available, repeat step 2 every 2 to 3 minutes until he person responds or emergency medical help is received.
For more information about NARCAN Nasal Spray go to www.narcannasalspray.com, or call 1-844-4NARCAN (1-844-462-7226)."

Me: kind of want to put my hand on the Bunsen burner.....
Friend: do it
*actually goes to do it*
Friend: CHARLIE SHIT DON'T- I DIDN'T THINK-
#the urge to do random shit#i did put my hand in a boiling water bath..... 80°C. was a bit uh hot....#also poured concentrated HCl on my hand to really see if it was that corrosive....#I've... had my fair share of moments.#I know they are horrendous ideas but I can't not do them. it's dangerous af. and one day I'm going to looose my hand or something#I'm the only one in my group that will actually handle 'dangerous chemicals ' . so. they read out the instructions and i do it.#suits me.#todays practicals were with proper dangerous stuff. we had to do it in the fume hood. except i forgot and took mine out#instant regret. when i say- despite having the test tube 0.5#0.5m ish away from my face. in my hand. and the fumes burnt my nose. I'm not joking#it was like sniffing coca cola (was going to say coke but that would've probably got the wrong idea across

Science Saturday: How to make Limestone
Limestone is a type of sedimentary rock made by chemical processes (dare I say, a chemical sedimentary rock) rather than physical processes (what we call a clastic sedimentary rock).
Limestone in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah with my hammer for scale.
Limestone is primarily composed of the mineral calcite or aragonite which precipitate out of water containing dissolved calcium ions.
(CaCO3) Calcite and aragonite chemical formula
This can happen through both biologic and non-biologic processes. About 20-25% of all sedimentary rocks are carbonates and most of those carbonates are limestone. The remaining carbonates are mostly dolomite (or dolostone to avoid confusion with the mineral dolomite) which differs from limestone due to it's high magnesium content.
Dolomite Peaks, Italy
In fact, physically, you can't tell dolomite and limestone apart (at least not to my knowledge, I work in clastic sedimentary rocks so if you're reading this and you work in carbonates, feel free to chip in), usually just lump all carbonates I see as limestone. Technically, there are few things you can test physically but you absolutely need the right tools. Dolomite is slightly harder than limestone and does not as readily dissolve in HCl (fizzes less). Sometimes you can see a change but often they are just too similar to tell in my experience.
Limestone is commonly gray to white though iron or managnese can make it yellow, or red and high organic content can make it almost black.
Gray limestone in Provo Canyon, Utah
Red stained yellow limestone in Timpanogos Canyon, Utah
But how is limestone formed? One way is through biochemical processes. Many marine organisms have learned to precipitate a calcium carbonate shell. When these organisms die, they fall to the sea floor. Eventually, they are turned into bioclastic limestone with chemically precipitated calcite cement between them.
bioclastic limestone, Provo Canyon. Brachiopod shells with my hand for comparison.
One type of bioclastic limestone is finely-grained chalk like the White Cliffs of Dover which formed from coccoliths. Chalk can be formed from algae, foraminifera and plankton. It is very soft, porous version of limestone.
Limestone can also form chemically, precipitating straight out of the water as such: H2O + 3CO2 -> CaCO3.
And now you know the basic ways to make limestone.

Health update
I am feeling much better in general.
I'm in my luteal phase, so I do expect to experience some additional skin inflammation. However my face and neck have remained 100% clear despite this. 4 weeks ago they were inflamed.
So the DIM supplement is really helping me make improvements.
I've read that DIM supplements are safe to take longterm as well as the other nutrients in the supplement I have that support estrogen metabolism and liver detoxification pathways. I do not drink and I don't eat a lot of junk food, but a liver support supplement can be very helpful. DIM removes the harmful estrogens that contribute to estrogen dominance, PCOS, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, hormonal cystic acne and skin rashes, and insulin resistance. We are exposed to these harmful estrogens, known as xenoestrogens, on a daily basis. It is found in plastics, receipts, and drinking water. It's been reported to cause early puberty in girls and dumping plastic waste into lakes has been shown to cause hormonal imbalances in frogs such as feminization and infertility. It makes sense because many plastics contain BPA which is an endocrine disruptor.
I am drinking reverse osmosis water and am eating organic foods that are on the dirty dozen list such as strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, and spinach. I try to use non-irritating skin and hair and teeth and body care products. It's impossible to avoid "toxins" 100% and it's worth being realistic. That's why I want to incorporate liver detoxification support.
The supplement I'm taking is expensive, but it is worth it. I take other supplements too and I can get cheaper yet good quality versions of those. I like my supplement because it contains DIM and other ingredients to support phase 1, 2, and 3 liver detoxification since DIM alone isn't enough.
I'm happy I am healing because I used to deal with severe skin inflammation. My face, neck, and ears are clear. My hands need a bit. But at least they look better than they did 4 weeks ago. I'm going to heal.
While I'm healing I also really want to help my dog heal too. He's a senior dog with colitis and IBS. So we cant to support his gut health with some supplements.
I've been drinking aloe juice as usual. I've been taking digestive enzymes before larger and my first meals each day. I feel they make a huge difference and I don't feel as bloated.
However, enzymes aren't the only thing that play a role in digestion. Stomach acid (HCl) does too. I know it is also helpful. I do not know if I need it though, and whether which one is better. I heard of a baking soda stomach acid test, but idk how I feel about doing that. But I've also heard that if you take betaine HCl and you experience burning, then you don't need it. If you don't experience burning, then you need it.
I can look for a supplement that combines both HCl and enzymes to get the benefits from both. I'll do my research. I know I can benefit from enzymes for sure because they help with fat absorption and I have issues with that. HCl is good for protein breakdown.
I'm getting a new toothpaste that contains nano-hydroxyapatite. I'm looking forward to using it in conjunction to my regular fluoride toothpaste. You can absorb fluoride through your toothpaste without swallowing it by sublingual absorption. I wonder if the same can happen with the minerals in the nano-hydroxyapatite toothpaste. I'll try it out.
Again I'm not sure why I have low phosphorus levels. Phosphorus tends to be rich in foods rich in protein and fats. So again, enzymes can help here and so can HCl potentially.
I'm sure the liver support supplement can help because the liver is also a digestive organ and can help with the digestion process along with enzymes and HCl.

Test: check the presence of Copper ion
Salt to be used: hydrated copper sulphate
I swear to the duck it's the prettiest salt ever I just wanna put it in my mouth (didn't) look at the picture please I beg you it's the most gorgeous freaking salt in the whole world-
*ahem*
Anyways
We took the salt in a test tube, added water and dil. HCl. So far, so good.
Then we were supposed to add something called H2S stock solution.
Cool. The supervisor said everything we needed was already out, right? We looked at the 5 (?) bottles in front of us.
No H2S stock solution.
Okay, maybe she forgot to take it out. Let's check in the usual place, where all the liquids are kept.
Nu uh.
O-o-okay... maybe it's with the other salts? Unlikely, because everything else is solid. We needed a liquid. It has to be with the liquid... right...?
Wrong.
It wasn't with the liquids.
Uh... okay, let's check with the salts... just in case...
Nope.
Wtf, where is this damn thing??
Not with the salts, apparently.
Okay... so where do we look now? (We had looked literally everywhere a normal brain could think of at this point)
Do we really need this? Can't we just move on to the next text without H2S stock
No. We need the precipitate for the rest of the copper tests.
Uh... so where is it??
A genius friend of mine decided to look through the supervisor's private stock
Dude. That's literally intrusion.
We need H2S don't we?
I mean yeah, but-
Forget it. It isn't there.
Now what?
...
Dunno.
...let's just abandon this and move on to the next salt
But pretty salt :(
Do we have a choice?
...no
Exactly
Good job not eating the salt lmfao–
I will look this pretty salt up o7

On June 19th, 2019 Mojave Logistics began testing Lotophedra HCL on human subjects. Three days later, after not receiving the results they had hoped for, they increased the dosage by 300 milligrams. No one is clear on what transpired in the following moments but we can verify that the building used for testing was destroyed. 250 employees were never seen or heard from again. Each of their families received a thousand dollar donation and a sympathy card from Nathaniel Godwynn, founder and CEO of Mojave Logistics.

Something stupid about me is I just kind of inherently respect people who have insane levels of dedications to things. I think probably because I've never been that dedicated to anything and I do envy it in a way.
But I'm reading this thread of Bluelight and I don't want to go into too much detail about the drug information/chemistry involved, because it's not really important, I do want to kind of explain because I think the level to which he's dedicating himself to achieve what he's achieving kind of helps make my point that I'm stupid, lmao. So in its pure HCl form, MDPV is a white powder. When it first came onto the RC, this is how it was available. At some point however someone came out with a tan MDPV, which produced significantly different effects. The white MDPV is prone to causing paranoia, hallucinations, is very tweaky and compulsive and has a terrible comedown. The tan MDPV is a smooth, euphoric ride that is apparently so hypersexual many people would refer to it as "perv powder." Nobody is actually sure what the difference is, however part of the process involves freebasing it. But that isn't the whole process, it is also necessary to leave the resulting oil in water for extended periods of time, during which people assume the MDPV degrades and some impurity results which is the actual source of the desired effects. This man is fucking dedicated to understanding how to produce the tan MDPV. He has done countless experiments on doing so and at one point details the various ways that he has been harmed even in doing these experiments.
"Now---- I haven't tasted this stuff. Over the past two years I have played with mdpv using ether, tuloene, xylene, baking soda, galacial acetate, vinegar, water, ethanol and dirt from my garden(the bacterial connection). I have precipitated, heated, frozen, incubated, dissolved, evaporated, combined and separated every possible combination of precipitate, solution and oil. In the process I have come up with substances that were less than enjoyable to ingest. I am my only test subject for these experiments. I temporarily blinded myself for three hours after drying and ingesting a brown goo that appeared after five days of incubating an odd gray precipitate after an ether/acetate experiment with pv. I once ended up with a dark brown substance that looked similar to the darker tan pv versions. It gave me an incapacitating headache that lasted 4 days. I had overheated the pv oil during precipitation and created something horrible. I got PV oil on my skin and didn't sleep for 72 hours, during which time hellish visual and auditory hallucinations had me locked in the bathroom where I hid in the bathtub for 30 hours. My first hit of the acetate salt that I created from the tan had me hallucinating again for a few days. I had not considered that the salt version of the tan freebase might have dosages measured in micrograms. I should have guessed from the huge residual slush left over from the Acetic Acid wash. But I didn't. I bumped 3 milligrams. 300 micrograms is a large dose.
What I'm saying is that my body is barely being held together, and what little cohesion is left is the result of vitamins and pure will power. So I just don't have the courage to go down the acetate road. The HCL road has used me up."
(He is essentially explaining that when converted into acetate salt of MDPV, the result is extremely promising for the desired effects, however he has had so many horrible side effects just from experimenting with the HCl he no longer has it in him to attempt new experiments with the acetate. That may be obvious from the quote but I feel like out of context it may not be entirely clear.)
Now, he's gone to such extreme efforts and put himself through so much suffering and for what? He only uses drugs to enhance sex. He's doing this just so he can fucking goon for hours and jack his stupid dick and it's all just kind of pathetic through that lens, raelly. In terms of motivations I have absolutely zero respect for him or his efforts.
But when I read that quote about the things he has put himself through to achieve his goals, I can't help but feel like he's kind of cool. Even though he very much is not.

stomach acid is primarily HCl, which according to this post, will attack fluorite. i don't have any HCl at home or i would've tested (who wouldn't sacrifice their rock collection to science?). vaginal fluids are acidic, but by far and away less acidic than stomach acid. gypsum, being calcium sulfate dihydrate, is likely mildly soluble in the slightly acidic conditions of a "yonic temple." (i am begging you please just say vagnia. pussy, even) unfortunately, i have neither a vagina or sample of gypsum to test with, so this mystery shall go on until someone with access to both is curious enough or dumb enough to test it.
So I wanted to know what kind of crystal could go in a wizard staff, right? so I googled “big crystal,” as one does, and got an Etsy ad for This
And as you all know I Am currently taking a geology class, so I am probably more emotionally invested in minerals than usual. But that is...very obviously not a natural crystal.
So I did some looking around on Etsy.
Now, these shops all seem to advertise to the “witchy”/“spiritual healing” type of person. And there are a lot of them. Crystals are a Big Thing on Etsy. And ALMOST ALL of them are obviously artificially cut into the same sort of prism with a triangular pyramid top, regardless of the actual sort of crystal it is supposed to be.
Even like, fucking, obsidian. Obsidian is volcanic glass, it doesn’t form crystals at all, it is not a crystal
I’m not throwing any shade at people who are into crystals for like witchy reasons, but it really seems like if crystals are spiritually important to you, you should know what a crystal is...right...?

Anti-inflammatory diet - being in charge of our own health
I've been following an anti-inflammatory diet for almost a month.
I did expenses recently and was happy I did not eat out a lot recently. I only had some mozzarella sticks at work the other day.
I feel so much better. My skin has improved from this alone. The diet won't get rid of the fungal infections (I'll need actual topical medication for that) but it significantly reduced my skin inflammation. Not 100% though, but a good amount. The aloe juice (also anti-inflammatory and is great for the gut) and steroids helped too. Killing the infection will also help reduce inflammation.
The next real goal I have is stress management, getting the support I need for my autism diagnosis (testing + longterm support), and hormone balancing pertaining to my cortisol, estrogen, progesterone, and insulin levels (as someone who struggles with anxiety, I do have normal-high cortisol). I'm in good health thankfully, and my diet helped a lot. But my anxiety/stress management, autism testing and support, and hormone balancing will be what really helps me next. I'll get help from a psychologist for the autism testing and support, and my doctor can help me with hormone balancing.
I've been on steroids for 4 days. Along with my diet, it helped a lot with my inflammation. However today I went out to go shopping with my mom and sister, and I got exhausted and overwhelmed. And I argued with my mom and brother (nothing serious, family arguments happen). So I got tense and stress and felt some itchiness. That's why relaxing and calming down are just as important as diet and steroids. I'm okay now, I just hate going out in public places when I want to rest at home. I remember as a child going to this grocery store with my mom and dad every weekend and would feel so overwhelmed and drained. It's one thing if I want to go somewhere, and a completely different and draining thing when I have to go with someone else while they are shopping and I get so bored and overwhelmed. It's usually clothes shopping with my mom and Home Depot or something like that with my dad. I'm okay now thankfully.
I'm definitely craving a lot of healthy stuff now. I love drinking green tea, eating fruit and veggies and olive oil and avocados. I do allow myself to eat out on Fridays, and I felt bloated and drained from that alone. I got some coffee and a caramel chocolate block, and I even felt like the chocolate was too sweet. I might look into 80% cocoa in the future, and I love chocolate and have 72%. But anything higher is usually harder to find. I ordered a healthy salad today with olive oil dressing rather than the usual stirfry pasta. Pasta is not the problem, I actually really like it. The problem is the processed inflammatory oils they cook and season it with. Olive oil is very anti-inflammatory and is a great option along with avocado and coconut oil.
I've been really into matcha green tea recently. I love drinking coffee, though I know tea is probably better and more anti-inflammatory and won't make me crash. I felt pretty bloated today, and I think it started after I had my coffee. I went out today to get clothes with my mom and sister and felt big and ballooned. I guess sometimes it just happens. I know I've been concerned with general digestion and nutrient absorption. I've started chewing more and I'm drinking aloe juice for intestinal lining support (I've been taking something before that to help me out but am drinking aloe now). I wanted to focus on stomach acid levels and pancreatic enzyme production, because not enough acid and enzymes can negatively impact digestion and nutrient absorption. Maybe I can ask my doctor about this? Again I'm tired of taking supplements and the last thing I want to do is get a new supplement with HCl and a new one with enzymes. There has to be a better way to approach this beyond expensive pills. I know h pylori can influence stomach acidity, and I had h pylori. And sometimes the pancreas doesn't produce enough enzymes. Or the liver doesn't produce enough bile to absorb fat soluble vitamins. It's a headache to sift through all this and to buy a ton of supplements, but I can find little and easy to follow things that can help. Even ginger tea can help. I know tropical fruit contain natural enzymes, but unfortunately I'm not a fan of tropical fruit. I'm more of a berry person.
So I'm going to wait until my fungal infection disappears, and I finish my steroid course tomorrow. The next goal is to talk to my doctor about hormone balancing, schedule the autism testing appointment, and read a bit about digestive/absorption support in the context of stomach acid and enzymes. I want to be in control of my health, I do not want doctors to be in control because they're going to make fear mongering decisions for me, or even unhelpful ones, and I'm going to feel scared and vulnerable and inclined to listen to them because they are the "authorities" and we hold them to a high standard. But sometimes we just know ourselves and our bodies better. I know I do. But the trick is to follow and stick to these healthy habits, otherwise we cannot rely on our own conclusions and decisions. There have been several moments in my life where my own family was more helpful. It was my mom who helped me a lot with my skin, my dad introduced me to intermittent fasting, and my mom and sister suspected that I might be autistic after going to therapy for almost 2 years and my therapist never mentioning anything about it being a possibility.
I know I feel like I'm not up to that level or standard yet because my skin inflammation was a constant reminder of how behind and sick I felt. I know I had some inflammatory issues pertaining to my diet and gut and I've improved my diet and followed a gut healing protocol, and now I drink aloe juice to maintain my gut health. I know stress contributes to it as well, along with possible hormonal imbalances related to my stress. Even things out of my control like the weather and environment, as well as hidden infections that can weaken my immune system. My skin is much better now, I just need to address the stress and hormonal side to all this. And I'll look into reading about stomach acid and enzymes for optimal digestion/nutrient absorption, but without the headache of supplements.
I will heal. I don't need people to be in control of my health just because it's their job. I need guidance and feedback, but not final decision making. That should be my job, but I need to be proactive in order for that to be a possibility.

Chemistry practical class updates
Last week:
I broke a test tube
I spilled sulphuric acid on my hand
This week:
We prepared HCl gas which smells BAD
Like, REALLY BAD
I felt like my respiratory tract was burning up
Then we prepared Br2 gas
Again, smelled Bad™️
By now, the entire lab was filled with BAD smell as a result of 15 students preparing HCl and Br2 at the exact same time
There was nowhere to go without being hit with a lungfull of BAD smell
Then, after it cleared up a bit, we prepared I2
Pretty colour but OH MY GOD IT SMELLED TERRIBLE
Oh shit y’all need some febreeze–
