(before saying this she said that the creator of the show was receptive if she said she didn’t feel comfortable in a particular topless or nude scene.)

...um. what? the double standard is actually that full frontal nudity and sexualized nudity is way more common for women than men on screen. how many vaginas and breasts have i seen on screen as opposed to penises? like are you for real? (”you” being the proverbial reader/writer of this article/etc, not sweeney).

like forget that she’s playing a minor. in the earlier days of film, when children played roles of people their age, nudity was still a thing, they just used nipple plasters and body doubles (they still do, for adults as well). yet still attached the face of the minor actress for example brooke shields in blue lagoon and jodie foster in the little girl that lives down the lane. can’t remember if shield’s male costar was nude too (he was 19 while she was 14) but i know that foster’s wasn’t (she was 13 and in a nude scene they used her sister as a body double). people think we’ve evolved just because now it’s 25 years olds playing 15 year olds so it’s fine that we see them nude and engaging in sexual acts or being assaulted etc. foster’s breakout role was as a child prostitute for fuck’s sake. she was 12 years old. nearly 50 years later and people still defend this pedophilic ass culture because of superficial “changes”

sweeney’s right though. men are never lambasted the way women are for anything, especially when it comes to things that concern sex and sexuality. women don’t get taken seriously no matter what they do. people are literally begging zendaya to go nude for the show and criticizing sweeney in the same breath. 

wake up queens! the industry hates you! they feel entitled to demand that you are nude on international tv but they’ll damn you if you do! playing along, working alongside this framework, and wondering how to be treated the same as men will never work. they will never treat women the same; worthy of respect, dignity, humanity, recognition, praise, what have you, not only for doing the same as them, but being 10x better. they are jacking off with one hand and pointing at you, calling you a wh*re with the other. there’s no way forward on this road
