Was really debating on whether or not I wanted to answer this since personally I'm a little iffy on writing romantic stuff with toby but I think. Since its not the center piece (?) Of this request I'll let it slide this time

With that said I will say, I'm not sure if my take on the masky/toby dynamic is accurate to most peoples takes since I havent really. Seen much current fan stuff, havent really interacted with the fandom outside of fanart n stuff since 2015 so UHUH!!

Quick warning first portion of this is the admin rambling about their hcs about masky and toby before getting into the actual reader portion; they havent had the chance to talk about their creepypasta hcs in a LONG time 😭😭

Toby does still try to piss off masky, i think. Since hes just generally an ass and there isnt much else for him to do..

You see I'm still trying to figure out how I wanna write masky and hoodie, since I do wish to honor their roots from MH and mesh together the source with the creepypasta fandoms take.. still trying to hit a balance.. might save that for another post, though! But I do wish to incorporate tim and brian into this as their own thing in my hc I'm just not sure how... anyways summary of what I was gonna say, before I deleted it; masky and hoodie arent around 100% of the time, only really when they're needed or called for. Hoodie is around more, though

Toby, on the other hand is around as a proxy 100% of the time considering. You know he krilled his shitty dad and set his neighborhood on fire

Basically there aren't many opportunities for these two to interact but when he does toby is probably shoving masky, probably trying to snag his mask, ect ect basically doing anything to find a way to entertain and stimulate himself, and that just so happens to include fucking with his fellow proxies

Masky, at least in my writing, is fairly stoic... or at least he keeps his emotions hard to read and every now and then he can be a little unpredictable. Call it a byproduct of being mentally worn down by slenderman in order to work with him, or something

Holds little to no reaction to Toby's antics, actually the only time theres anything dished back to him is when he tries to make a grab for the mask

wow.. it’s kind of funny that harry and louis both describe their post band dynamic as one of “mutual respect”. it was used as a way to mock and harass louis (like every other time he’s had to deny larry), but ive never once seen the quote of harry saying the exact same thing - especially not used in a mocking way.

i guess louis’ was directly in reference to harry when asked about where their relationship was at now while harry’s was broader and could have been about any member, but if niall was the only member that harry could be seen to have any form of interaction with - the assumption is naturally going to be louis, whose name he has uttered twice (?) since the band ended. it could have also been about liam, but either way that would basically also extend to louis given liam & louis’ closeness post band. and according to liam in recent years, harry still kept in contact with him.

i also thought of louis talking about liam in that zach sang interview from 2019 and saying all of the members are “all good guys” and easy to be around before adding “…most of them” at the end. they jumped on that comment to make it about zayn, but it could also easily be interpreted as being about harry. (i didnt interpret this or harry’s mutual respect comment as being about zayn. the way harry talks about zayn in his howard stern and zane lowe interviews is about him as an individual and he doesn’t seem to consider him when talking about the band as a whole. louis’ references to zayn havent been that different until more recent years - more about zayn as an individual. not necessarily out of disrespect towards zayn, but i assume it was harder to look back on the band as five members with everything about the end being so fresh and zayn at the time being pretty clear on how he felt about being associated with 1d.)

it’s actually insane to me that people (OT5s and larries) ignore or misinterpret every instance like that to paint them all out to be best friends that are still very close and constantly in contact, when there is a clear shift in louis’ attitude towards harry from 2017 - where his body language is relaxed and he can easily say that he’s “very excited for him” and “very proud of him” (despite the way larries had been behaving 2015-then)… i think harry was made a gucci ambassador in 2017 and louis was still wearing gucci even into early 2019, but way more frequently in 2017 & 2018. (the zach sang interview was late 2019)

past then? all references to harry are in response to a direct question - and they’re polite, but incredibly distant. the way you would talk about a stranger. and certainly not the way louis talks about someone he cares about and has regular contact with. in harry’s case - his sweet creature stutter and roman kemp interview, both in 2017, weren’t much different. when asked about 1d members supporting him at the dunkirk premiere, he was happy to talk about them until advised not to by someone offscreen. he seemed a little panicky if anything in the first two instances, but not cold or distant. very different than the later references to “someones” and the vague idea of former band members that were merely stepping stones (if not roadblocks) on the path to his success.

this got very long winded… sorry about that lmao. but i feel like all of this is so clear and im just. continuously baffled by the people on twitter i see even now saying “i know they’re all very close and in constant contact no i cant tell you how i know just trust me”. like… why? on the basis of what?? exactly? if louis didn’t care in 2017 that him showing kindness towards harry could be interpreted as “larry proof”, when larries were just as if not more directly unhinged, why would he care now? how many times can non larries excuse their lack of closeness as them being afraid of larries and larries excuse it as closeting? it’s so tiring

As a UTDR fan I'm sorry people are being weird about your Toby Fox thing. There's nothing wrong with looking at media you like or dislike with a critical eye, and, when the creator is clearly open to discussion (or at least hypothetically), to having that discussion with them too. With Fox in particular (and this is NOT me trying to "cancel" him or anything) he's also continuously friends with some other notoriously problematic people like Omocat and Hussie, which everyone in the fandom also just ignores (or outright acts as an apologist to both their behaviors too). It's tiring, but it makes me glad to see some people willing to have this conversation. Your point about him being highly idolized especially rings true to this day. You don't need to respond to this ask publicly btw if you feel like it's going to cause more people to attack you, just some other points of contempt I've had as someone in the fandom. the earliest build i have from my very first game, 'Mr. Waffle Lover'

wat da freak ... im about to make Three posts in a row ?? impossible... so Hi. in case u havent seen my Last Big Post, one of my first projects was a game called 'Mr. Waffle Lover'. it started in early 2014 until late 2017 and it went through Tons of wildly different iterations. and also, if u read da last post youd know i lost nearly All of those builds of the game.

Despite losing like, 3 years of my own history, ive managed to find a few builds from multiple iterations of my game, with this one being the earliest iteration i have. this is the Third iteration of the game's development.. and there isnt a whole lot to say about it. it is a Very Basic, Very Primitive platformer made by an 11 year old. this build in particular has only Two levels . i Think more were made at some point, but it's hard to remember. at one point, i made a ""mobile version demo"" of the game for the tablet i had at the time (the game did not work on it), and thats the version u see in the video i posted. For Some Reason, i decided to strip any other level that may have existed in the game and just made it a demo even though i was the Only Person who could play the game.. so i dont have much from this iteration. i Do have an Earlier build that i put on github, but there isnt a whole lot of differences to this demo version.

Anyways, i think, for the rest of this post, imma go a little in depth about the Origins of this game and what it was actually Supposed to be .. click the Read Me thingy if u Dare !!!

So, it all started in 2013 . i was a Bored little creature who liked to draw things and was Deep into Minecraft for the Xbox 360. and one day i created a little comic with a character called 'Mr. Waffle Lover'.. And He Looked Like This:

That's Right , my very first OC is Just a skin from one of the minecraft xbox 360 edition skin packs. this was the skin i played as a lot back then, and 'Mr. Waffle Lover' was my self insert in the comic. why is he called 'Mr. Waffle Lover' you may ask? because i liked to eat waffles a lot. that became his main character trait. Eventually, when the game became A Thing, i would slowly change his design from just a copy of a minecraft skin, first giving him heterochromia and Gloves which spawned TNT, then later giving him a yellow shirt to match with his love for waffles, and then i just make him a Girl (but That is a story for Another Day . .. )

Anyways , on my birthday in 2014 i got a windows 8 laptop, and then in october i learned about construct 2 and decided i Needed to make a video game. ever since i was a fetus ive always wanted to make a video game,, with one of the earliest ideas for a game i remember having is when i was like 5 and wanted to make 'New Sonic the Hedgehog Wii' (a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii but featuring multiple colored Sonics).

ANYWAYS , one of the first video games i ever made was Mr. Waffle Lover......... Well Actually, Technically that is not true, as a few months before i tried using some Random in-browser game program that i dont remember the name of to make something called the 'Egg Game'... but it never went anywhere beyond me putting a stock Egg image into the program and then giving up.

my initial inspiration for making a game about the Mr. Waffle Lover character was when i played a game called 'Ms. Splosion Man' on the xbox 360. i thought the game play was interesting but i got stuck at one of the puzzles so i was like 'I Want to make this game but Better and with MY character !'. And So, i thought of the idea of Waffle Lover having Gloves that spawn TNT that he uses to jump high like in Ms. Splosion Man....... but i never got to actually implement it until the 'mid 2015' build that i posted earlier... and i removed it entirely afterwards and just made the game a Basic 2D Platformer for awhile.

so yea. this game was supposed to be just a simple 2d platformer featuring my sort of self insert OC based off a minecraft skin. there wasnt really much to it conceptually... just wanted to make a video game! that's all my ideas were at the time.. the only "Story" this game has is 'Waffle Lover gets his Waffles stolen by some Scientist People and he needs to Stop Them !!!!'. the game eventually got some sort of story over time... but for now all u need to know is that this game is A Game that I Wanted To Make. it doesnt get purer than that.

with the first iteration of my game being my first game Ever, i had No Idea how to do things. all of the small sprites were stretched out to fit the HD screen resolution, making everything blurry. the gameplay was Very Basic and the levels were simple. the HUD didnt even stay centered on the screen... instead it used the 'pin behavior' to be pinned on the player object (which did not work and the HUD would move around the object). And the worst aspect of it was that i did Not know how to make layouts in construct 2 use other event sheets or Objects from other layouts..... meaning every layout (meaning every level) uses Completely Different programming And objects .... Not Only That , but i only had the Trial version of construct 2 at that time.... so i could only use 100 'events'... meaning i could only put So Much code in the game before i reached the limit (and with every level using its own separate events for everything, i ran out of events Pretty Quickly and couldnt make any more levels.

I So Desperately Wish i could show that first iteration of the game with you. it was Very Weird and Bad but it was so Lovely. to say the least.. it was quite the learning experience ! I can Vividly remember me making the very first layout in the game,, with it just being the Waffle Lover sprite moving around a white background and a bunch of badly placed collision objects. it was a Sight to Behold . But Sadly... when i decided to completely redo the game, i deleted the whole project file for it, and its pretty much Lost forever now. the only remains are some random sprites from it i still have... other than that there Was a trailer i made for it once and i Think i released a demo for it once... but both of those are Long gone now.

anyways. for the second iteration of the game i decided to make it an ""HD"" version of the game, using higher resolution sprites and a 3d animated version of Waffle Lover.... However this 3d version is Actually just a minecraft skin of him made in Mine-imator, an Old 3D animating software Exclusively made for making minecraft animations. So , the game had a bunch of bad tilesets and a badly animated prerendered sprite of a minecraft skin for its player character. i dont remember much from that point of the game's development other than it did not last very long and it looked Funny. i dont even think it got past one level... as i struggled with making high resolution art (i only had ms paint and construct 2's built in image editor, so, yea). i Think everything from that era of the game's development is Gone, HOWEVER i THINK i might have the files for the Mine-imator animations Somewhere... maybe. i Think i saw the files on my old laptop for some mine-imator project but i was unable to open them and i dont know if i saved them anywhere so. Idk.

and now, this leads us to the Third iteration of the game... which is the one i showed in this post. as you can see in the video, i finally figured out how to make pixel art look not blurry. i also figured out how to make different layouts use the same event sheets. i even figured out how to make a HUD... incredible ! other than all of that, there's not much to say about it. it's just not as silly looking as the earlier iterations were... and its not really Fun to play. its not even all that janky.. its just basic. i worked on it for awhile, but then i gave up on it and moved onto the mid 2015 iteration.. and the rest of the game's history is a story for Another Time..

if there's anything i can say about this old game.. it's that you can Definitely see how much ive grown since then. whoever is reading this, i Really hope this is not your first introduction to my work.... cus my stuff nowadays is Insane compared to this... a lot has happened in the like, 8 years since ive started game development. and i have so much stories i want to share,,, i hope i can keep sharing those stories with you. oh and also, if you Really have never heard of my work before... um.... Play UNITRES Dreams on Newgrounds dot com. LOL!!!!!!

i think the idea behind her character is cool but the erins are the erins and they fucked it up imo. also the way the fandom treats any discussion about her and other characters in her book is so annoying i cannot stand going into the mapleshade tag on tumblr

starting chronologically (according to canon, not publication)(publication order is: all ivypool darkforest books (2011 and prev) crookeds promise (2011), great battle (last hope 2012, she permadies here) and maples vengeance (2015)

i actually really liked mapleshade's vengeance, all things considered. it comes last in the mapleshade storyline according to publication date, and up until then we really didn't know much about her, and i believe this is where she gets a personality other than "random DF lady" and "rude ghost villain". the erins are not good writers by any means, but i felt that mapleshade's internal monologue and the way she saw the world was genuinely pretty decent. they portrayed her as obsessive and manipulative and as an unreliable narrator. it was one of the first books i read upon returning to the fandom in 2018 and it was a thrill to read, because i hadn't been spoiled on it.

the erins have a habit of writing surprise/accidental pregnancies as plot points, which has the implication of like… flings/one night stands. it's best not to think about it. it's pretty obvious upfront that appledusk is not as in to her as she is in to him, but she doesn't see it. she talks about him in her narrations as a sweet and loving man and talks about their family and future together, but when we the readers finally see him, he's calloused and doesn't really care about her. i think she even sees him with reedshine at a gathering and gets mad before she thinks "oh he's just doing that so no one gets suspicious" (not quoting or anything, i havent read the novel since 2018) girl. their relationship was obviously just a fling to him, but to her they were in love. i liked the way this was written as opposed to all the other times in warriors weve seen a man have a hissy fit because a girl rejected him. (ashfur is the glaring example but also crowfeather, brambleclaw) her denial and refusal to accept what she was seeing (that she was the side piece) was the interesting part.

she has her children and then ravenwing spills the beans. why on earth would he do that? why would it benefit the clan or anyone? from a logistical standpoint, thunderclan lost 3 potential new warriors and mapleshade never implied she was going to riverclan. anyway, he didn't even have proof. he just assumed. i think he rightfully got what was coming for him, since if he would have kept his mouth shut, 7 cats including himself wouldn't have died. sorry mini rant i don't like him. anyway we know the rest of the story. kits die, maple kills ravenwing for telling her secret, she kills frecklewish for not helping (no, she couldn't have jumped in to save the kits without probably dying herself but she COULD have stood up for maple in thunderclan, and she was upstream so she could have yelled out and warned maple of the flood but im NOT getting into that and i dont care) and then she goes to kill reedshine but kills appledusk instead. did he deserve it? he was kinda a dick but mapleshade was like stalker-obsessed with him (i think she uses the phrase "my appledusk" in her narration but i might be wrong) after what was ostensibly a one night stand. perchpaw wounds mapleshade to the point where once she flees the scene, she dies of blood loss. cool

the story of a mothers love (and a mother's loss) is an age-old tale. in a franchise where all female characters are doomed to become boring cookie-cutter mothers, this loss and violent rage was awesome.

everyone told me to read crookedstar's promise, because it was the best super edition. i.. do not agree with that. tbh i thought it was long and boring and went nowhere. crookedstar suffered many tragedies in his life, and he lost everyone he loved, and then the book suddenly ends with him going "im ok (:" and dying. (i was reading a pdf and not a physical copy so it was VERY abrupt for me. i legit sat there like.. so that's it? i read 500+ pages for that?) i can't really blame mapleshade for this (since shes not real) but it does factor in. her idea of revenge against appledusk was to torture an injured baby? who then grew up and had no idea who the fuck appledusk was? why not raise him and give him the love he craved so that when the time came, he would be more likely to do her bidding?? her motives here make no sense. not super important. anyway.

and then she's seen occasionally in the dark forest and she tries to drown ivypaw for no reason once. idk she was obviously just a background character in these scenes (since they came first) but the fans saw a female in the dark forest and were like. thank god a woman. can you blame them. then the erins built her up from that.

anyway mapleshade has this generations long story of manipulating younger cats, and a POV book where she's obviously obsessive, controlling, stalkerish and chooses brutally uncommon violence as a way to get back at those who wrong her. (she unburies ravenwing's body so crows can eat it, and she uses adders to kill frecklewish, despite the fact the snakes could easily go for her.) she puts HERSELF in danger to do these things because she's impulsive, she justifies all her actions to herself by saying its revenge for her children and in the end, she pushes the last remnants of the kittens she thinks she's fighting for away. this is a cool story about a woman who's pushed to the edge and takes everyone down with her. for ONCE its not a man with deadwifepain.

and what does the fandom do

they girlbossify her. they fight over if she's in the wrong or not (she is. she killed people.) they take everything about her that made her compelling and turn her into "grr my husband cheated on me and me kids are dead. sad." she gets turned into the most basic, boring, cookie cutter "evil" lady. she kills people for fun and not because she had a reason to or a goal (in her mind). she suffers the most tragic kind of loss that there is and gets no time to grieve before she is run out of her home, and her reaction to this is pure RAGE, and the fandom turns her into this boring, slay QUEEN!!! so to answer your question, it's the general fandom* portrayal that i hate, but i honestly wouldn't trust the erins with her at this point. (the erins are influenced by their fans, for example (old person voice) back in my day, firestar and scourge being brothers was just a fan theory.) i'm glad they permakilled her in the great battle so they cant bring her back to ruin anything. actually thinking about her to write this out and reflect on why i don't like her made me sympathize for her. i like text mapleshade with a little bit of fanon sprinkled in for flavor.

and hey. usually when the fandom adopts a character, they're right. the fandom likes to get really in to random bg/side characters and give them lives they would never have in canon. but sadly (or not, depending on your opinion), when those get popular and breach containment, they spread everywhere and suddenly people think this IS canon. look at how many of us thought that brambleclaw killed hawkfrost directly after he killed hollyleaf, because that was the easy way to portray the great battle in MAPs, only to have someone point out, years after this has become the common sequence of events, that brambleclaw actually hunts him down, brings him back to camp, and then murders him POW style!!!

*btw. im in no way saying that all mapleshade-based projects or aus or whatever are bad, even if she is sexy girlboss in them. some of my favorite maps portray her like that.

— kakyoin : i feel like he’d prefer more paranormal movies than yk stabby-gorey movies so he’d probably enjoy the conjuring movies, his favorite being the conjuring: the devil made me do it (2021)

— josuke : for some reason i could see him getting extremely to the paranormal activity series (2007-2015) like,,, weirdly into it idk but his favorite would probably be the first one

— okuyasu : another one that doesn’t so very well with horror but still does better than koichi; he would definitely prefer to watch the scary movie films (2000-2013) but i could also see him liking scream (1996) and only ever watching the first one [as he should]

— akira : easy, house of wax (2005) because he’d love the soundtrack to the movie and would probably think the sinclair brothers are cool dudes [but same shawty <33]

— hazemada : because of his stand, i could see him liking more of the haunted doll trope and i feel like he’d be the one most into horror films so films such as the boy (2016), dead silence (2007), and the chucky movies (1988-2019)

— mista : he’s a classic-slasher-loving type of guy cause he enjoys gore so movies like texas chainsaw massacre (1974), friday the 13th (1980), a nightmare on elm street (1984), halloween (1987), stephen king’s IT (1990), and candyman (1992)

— narancia : idk i can just see his casually snacking on popcorn, chips, and chocolates while watching the original saw movies (2004-2010) since he thought jigsaw (2017) was boring compared to the others [havent totally like,,, said this before]

sure! as always pleaaasee doesthedogdie these movies before you watch them as since theyre horror they can contain potentially triggering content. some of these are serious dramas, others are camp af slashers, i love variety. under cut since its pretty long lol

- wishmaster (1997) an ancient djinn is released and tries to take the soul of the woman who discovered him. robert englund is in this, and its got some sequels, though i havent seen them

- slumber party massacre II (1987) technically a sequel but the first one sucks. supernatural rock star killer with a drill guitar kills some teens at a slumber party. its as insane as it sounds

- prom night (1980) a la i know what you did last summer, except 20 years earlier, a killer stalks and kills teenagers who accidently killed a kid when they were children. jamie lee curtis is in this, and its got an absolute ROCKIN music score

- though if youre on slasher tumblr this probably isnt unknown to you, but id feel bad if i left it off cause its really good and more people should see it, behind the mask: the rise of leslie vernon (2006) is a mockumentary slasher flick set in a world where all the iconic slasher villains like myers, krueger, and voorhees, are real, and have a new generation of killers following in their footsteps. one of which agrees to let a film crew watch him work.

- as the gods will (2014) a live action horror manga adaptation. high school students are forced to play deadly childrens games. probably an inspiration for squid game on some level. watch with english subs.

- not too unpopular, but i dont see people on here talking about it ever, so, one cut of the dead (2017) is about a film crew shooting a low budget zombie flick only to be attacked by real zombies. watch with english subs.

- anything by italian director Dario Argento, especially his animal trilogy

- they look like people (2015) man flees to new york after suspecting people around him to be shape shifters, trying to find his old childhood friend.

- valerie and her week of wonders (1970) a teenage girl is coming into her womanhood while trying to discern odd and varying fantasy from reality. watch with english subs.

- cutting class (1989) a girl gets caught in a love triangle between two of her male classmates, one of which who was locked away for awhile following the suspicious death of his father. you know the drill, murders start happening and... holy shit brad pitt is in this
