So as I was reading chapter 14 in the scene "A snake-like form." It got me thinking on the mer boy's anatomy yet again😅 how tough are the boys? Like their scales I mean because they kinda remind me of armored porgy's from totk & botw🤔 And you've shown it throughout the fic that Meryn's weapons don't really hurt them but they can harm each other.(i.e. when Sun & Moon got into their little fight & Meryn herself didn't even really hurt Sun he said so himself in ch 12) So it makes me think Meryn must have some horse legs to be able to leave bruises on Sun's body😀🐎 then it got me about Eclipse again because if the boys are already pretty tough to begin with how tough is he? I'm probably reading to much into it but I just love the structural build-up you do with the interactions with the mer boys and little hints you do on how neat their anatomy is it's all just so neato and I absolutely love it and I eat it up every time.😍

cool! i haven't played botw or totk so that was fun to look up, btw apologies if there's armoured porgy-related context i'm missing. all mers are pretty tough bc of their scaled skin, and Eclipse even more so as he's so large, the thickness of his skin would increase with his size. Eclipse is pretty much impervious to any harm a human could do alone

a regular sized mermaid like Sun or Moon wouldn't be harmed by scratching with your nails at full force, but something like a knife could pierce through if used with a great deal of strength. let's not stab them tho :( areas like their fins are more delicate than their skin as fins are softer and thinner, and their gills are a massive weak zone. Sun's facial fins are sensitive and so are Moon's, although the bulb of his esca doesn't have much sensation. Eclipse evolved stiffer facial fins that aren't as weak or sensitive

Chapter 5 - Ultimatum - Philip’s bravery is put to the test when he needs to make a hard decision

“Why do you even want to?” The man finally tossed his hands out in exasperation, and partially to try and wave off the shadow child looming over his head. …He wondered if he might also wave away the warmth that seeped within, to the question.

“Well you kind of look after us,” Eclipse shrugged. “Oh, and it annoys you so I want to.”

Ah, well there went the warmth. Philip felt the embarrassed and endeared pink drain from his cheeks and ears as his face fell deadpan in record speed. “Seriously? Why aren’t you bothering Luz, like you always are? Luz loves playing with you.”

“Luz isn’t much fun today!” the baby complained. His gaze drifted back to the teenager that had her face pressed against Philip’s back. That was concerning enough on its own…but it was honestly the uncomfortable heat that was radiating through the fabric to his back that was raising the red flags. 

It was very chilly outside now, the post rainstorm having cooled in the grass and left its damp in the air. She…had no reason to have a body temperature like that. 

“Luz?” He jostled her lightly with an elbow. “Luz? Are you…napping?” he asked awkwardly.

Eclipse floated back next to the teenager’s side, but in typical child naivety, he didn’t seem to grasp the situation. “Yeah what’s with the nap, Luzzy? You promised me you’d teach me to fly a staff, and here you’re all…” He trailed off at Philip’s withering glare.

Philip redirected his attention to Luz and his face softened an increment. Seeing the darkening bags under her eyes as she notably weakly looked up, it softened more. “Luz.”

“Just…more tired than I thought.” Luz’s lips turned up in what she hoped was a convincing smile. Her lips looked pale…

Philip merely nodded, deciding to humor the very…blatant lie. “Right. Well, we’re going to do a supply run then,” he informed the kids as his feet finally hit the damp auburn grass. Hopefully the heinous creatures of this town had some sort of medication suitable for human children…

How Did gator and I Become Friends?

It was easy. She started talking to me.

People who know me well, whom I trust, wouldn’t necessarily know this, but I can be shy.  I don’t trust people easily. Anybody who has watched Benedict suffer will understand to a degree: my mother has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Many people who are familiar with dysfunctional families know there is often a golden child who can do no wrong and a scapegoat.

    (aside) gator likes goats. I am both an Earth Goat and a Fire Goat. Of course, Capricorns are also Water Goats.

Astrologically, Benedict and I both share a Mars/Neptune square.

I consider this the ‘victim aspect’. Energy workers worth their salt will tell you not to label anything so negatively, that’s the energy you will bring to it, but we’re going to be straightforward today. At worst, this aspect makes it impossible to set limits with other people. Neptune is an outer planet; it is incredibly powerful, but Neptune (and Pisces) has no boundaries. The good part of that is YOU have no limits. You can be a superior, utterly original overachiver who never hits that ‘glass ceiling. The flip side of that is mediocre people resenting you like hell.

    Mars is your action. It is also sexual, and that is part of what makes this such a dangerous combination. It can mean rape, or vulnerability to rape. It can leave you wide open to con artists. In my case, the person I cared about robbed me blind.

      What are the good things you can do with this aspect?

Also the reason craft refers to eclipse as “moonsong” btw is because it was her childhood nickname. While the moon jumper brothers refer to her as “song bird” due to her mother being a nightingale, Craft preferred ‘moonsong’ because the implications of calling a child a nightingale are not so good. moonsong was the name her father would use as well.

“She’s a good muse. And she’s got a good smile.” they admitted stroking her head gently as she laughed, “I want to make her shine so she’s never forgotten again is all…”

“Again?” She asked curiously but they simply smiled at her.

“Alright, so clothing! Any preferences?” they clapped and set the bag they carried down, “Moonsong that’s a new outfit for you, feel free to try on at your leisure.” 

“Okay!” she laughed as she turned to grab Snatcher’s hand and pulled him forward, “But let’s focus on him! Should be fun to get new clothes after 300 years, right?” she beamed.

“Yeah.” he chuckled as he looked at Craft with a small frown, “I’m in your hands today, Craft.”

Craft couldn’t help chuckling, “About time! I’ve been dying to dress you up as well!” they admitted and got behind the prince whose face had a look of shock, and began to push him, “Let’s go!”

“How do I put this on?” Snatcher looked at the modern shirt with a frown, “is it a pull over?”

“Yeah.” Craft stood in the dressing room with him looking at the man with a scrutinizing glare, “Your outfit, is it a part of you?” they had their hand under their chin

Snatcher turned a light yellow, “N-No it’s not. I can just.. Why would you ask?!”

“Well aren’t you normally a giant furry noodle? Do you strip each time?” Craft asked point blank to the ghost’s shocked face.

“H-How did…”

Craft pointed at the ghost’s face, “Easy, honestly.”

He scowled, “Y-You don’t…” he sighed, “I’m not going to win this argument.” he grumbled and chewed his thumbnail annoyed, “Don’t tell her.”

“My lips are sealed.” Craft closed one eye as they held a finger to their lips. “That’s a thing you need to do.” They snickered.

Snatcher huffed, “I… I’ll deal with it when it’s an issue.” he sighed and brushed his long hair back, “To answer, no. my clothes are NOT part of me. More or less. I can shift shape with them on but really only the outfit I died in. I think it has to do with whatever made me… me in the first place.” he crossed his arms, using one hand to gesticulate his points, “I can take it off and be as nude as the day my mother birthed me or I can shapeshift into my normal form.”

“I see.” Craft put their fist under their chin, “Fascinating. But I do get it. It’s similar to a nth dimensional being’s clothing then.” they huffed.

“A what?”

“Don’t worry about it.” Craft studied his outfit, “Strip. I want to see what I’m really working with then.”

“E-Excuse me?!” Snatcher gasped, hair fluffing up.

“Hrm. is that annoying?” Craft reached and took a strand, bringing it to their mouth with a frown, “I have a hair tie.” They reached into their pocket and produced a bright blue hair tie with a slight glow to it.

“Ah, that color…” Snatcher turned a light yellow, “You…”

“It was for her hair yes but. Until the horizon dissipates her hair won’t let itself be tamed.” the sighed and grabbed the man’s shoulders spinning him and began to comb his hair with their fingers. 

Snatcher was a bit shocked feeling the weight come off his shoulders a bit as his hair was pulled up. He looked at the mirror in the dressing room and blinked a few times, playing with his bangs, “Huh… I don’t... Think I’ve ever worn it this way.”

“I bet she’ll think it looks nice, now she can see your face~!” Craft sang with a bit of a finger guns motion pointed at the ghost, “Now get stripping prince boy. Crafty needs to see what material there is to play with.”

“W-why are you wording it like that?!” Snatcher snapped.

“Are you guys okay?” Eclipse asked from outside the dressing room, “Prince? Craft?”

“We’re fine, Moonsong!” Craft peeked out with a smug smirk, “I’m just teasing him.” they stuck their pointed tongue out with a snicker.

She huffed, “D-Don’t do that.” she crossed her arms, “S-Snatcher could hurt you if he found out!”

“Right.” they grinned, “moonsong, why don’t you go find a new outfit as well?”

“I don’t know. I mean I thought my outfit was fine.” she frowned as she looked down, “It’s not like I stand out.” she scratched her cheek nervously, “It’s fine.”

Craft scowled hearing her words, “That means it’s not fine.” they sighed and moved back into the room, “Hey.” their voice seemed to drop annoyed, “What do you want to see her in?” they asked the ghost who was busy unbuttoning his over shirt.

“Eh?” He stared confused.

“Eclipse. What kind of outfit would you want to see her in?” Craft sighed and looked at the open shirted specter, “oh. Those are interesting scars…” they noticed an area on the ghost’s chest and reached out, “I see…”

Snatcher flinched pulling away, “It’s just from my death. Don’t think on it. I have other scars on my arms.” he pouted, “Outfit…” he turned bright yellow and shook his head, “W-whate---”

“Don’t tell me whatever. Right now she’s feeling left out because I’m playing with you and she’ll act like it’s fine. So just tell me flatly what kind of outfit have you wanted to see her in?”

The ghost was taken back by the other’s seeming hostility, “Craft… who ARE you?”

“Someone who cares very much about Moonsong and if I could I would be doing a lot more than playing dress up.” they sneered, “tell. Me. what. You. like.”

“I-I don’t know! She looks good in anything!! But I guess…” he peeked at the mirror and at the hairband, “maybe something blue? But long sleeves. A skirt? She always wears pants… just… something comfortable.”

“Skirt, long sleeves, blue, comfortable. I can work with that.” The lavender haired person sighed and looked at the ghost, “I’m going to grab a few options for you as well. Wait here.”

“Yeah because a purple half-dressed ghost is apt to walk around a store.” he snorted.

“Alright, come out!” Craft grinned like a madman as the ghost peeked from the dressing room. He couldn’t help turning yellow at the sight of the woman in the overall dress. He took a breath and stepped out. He reached to fix the sleeve cuff as he looked at the floor embarrassed.

“How’s it.. Look?” he asked finally peeking up to see that Eclipse’s face had become bright red as she looked him over. He felt his chest pinch and rubbed his neck.

“I-It’s good. Y-You look good in modern clothes!” she finally got out, stammering the whole while.

“Y-You too.” he grinned as he walked closer to her and smiled, meeting her eyes.

She gave a small grin with a laugh.

Craft grinned from the corner watching. Smile stretching over their face. They coughed and wiped the viscous fluid from their mouth with a huff, “Bother. I hate this dimension.” their shadow flickered with multiple eyes as they walked over, “Now you two are perfect for your date! I’ll pay for the clothes as a treat~!”

The couple both started blushing harder looking away from each other. Craft couldn’t help laughing loudly with a content sigh, “Come on let’s go check out!” they sang pushing the couple towards the front, “I’ll grab Prince’s clothing while you get rung up!”

“O-Oh.” Eclipse stammered as she and Snatcher headed up front, peeking back worried.

Craft waved and headed into the dressing room. They removed their gloves and sighed looking at the inky tone and rubbed their temples, “I’m going to have to go home for a bit and solidify again.” they grumbled, scooping the clothing up. They paused a moment as they looked at the ghost’s clothing curiously.

“How strange.. I would think it’d be the same outfit Sena has but…” they scowled, “Oh well. Not my issue.” they folded it over their arm and headed back out to the waiting flustered couple. At least they were heading in the right direction, Craft thought happily, seeing the two holding hands. He hoped the ghost wouldn’t peck this up for them all.

If you were asked to choose one episode from each of the seven seasons of MLP to hold up as the "best" of those seasons, which would you choose?

Season 1: Suited for Success

This finally introduces Rarity as the artist that she is, and it frankly integral to really understand her character for the series. Rarity being one of my faves by virtue of how relatable she is to me ALL THE TIME, this episode holds special interest to me.

Honorable mention goes to the series opener, “Friendship is Magic” though, for obvious reasons!

Season 2:  Canterlot Wedding

Not only do I think this is the best (two) episode(s) of Season 2, I think it might be the best episode of the whole series to date. Just between the pacing, drama, music, EVERYTHING--I love this episode so much. It might be one of the few episodes in the whole series where I have NOTHING to criticize. IT’S FLAWLESS

Honorable mention goes to “Luna Eclipsed”, for giving Luna much needed development.

Season 3: Magical Mystery Cure

Probably an unpopular choice. I wouldn’t have picked this then, but looking back, it’s the episode in the season that had the most impact on me, even today. Ignoring the whole Twilicorn debacle, it’s biggest flaw is just being too rushed. But there’s a ton of great music, and the plot arc itself is great.

Honorable mention goes to “Magic Duel“, because I love Trixie and I was so happy to see her return. The nature of the conflict could have been handled better, but overall, I remember this episode fondly.

Season 4: Twilight’s Kingdom

This finale does a really good job bringing Twilight’s alicorn character arc to a satisfying epic conclusion. I know some people didn’t like the laser fights, but goddamn, it felt entirely appropriate to me. It was nice to see pair with demi-god levels of power actually commit to a straight-up knock-down drag-out fight; made better by the actually conclusion of the fight staying consistent with the show’s tone in spite of the fight.

"Filli Vanilli" gets honorable mention though. This was about the time that my online art career started to really take off, and having dealt with a lot of “stage-fright” at presenting my art publicly, I found it immensely relabable. Also hell THE MUSIC WAS SO GOOD.

Season 5: Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep / The Cutie Re-Mark

Kind of a tie here. I like the extra screen time and development Luna gets in “Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep”. It was way overdue at this point in the series.

Meanwhile “The Cutie Re-Mark” had an epic plot arc, build-up, and climax. And seeing all the AUs though was a freaking ecstatic delight for any fan of the series. I wasn’t that into Starlight as a villain, though she always did seem like a decent foil to Twilight. But I feel her 60-second turn around from “Selfish-Dictator-Who-Nearly-Fucked-Up-Everything-Forever” to “Best-Beloved-Friend-Of-Everyone” was supremely poorly handled, and made me disinclined to like her from the start (though as I’ve said, I’ve warmed up since).

Honorable mention goes to “Amending Fences” for some much needed Twilight backstory, AND for being really sincere and genuine about it. Handled really well. (Moondancer’s mane is still stupid though)

Season 6: Newbie Dash 

Dash FINALLY fulfilling her dream on-screen. I didn’t know they’d ever really do this, but I’m glad they did. It’d be unsatisfying otherwise. The episode was sincere and significant in it’s message, while also just being tons of fun. Seeing Dash basically impersonate her friends is one of the comedy highlights of the whole series.

Honorable mention goes to “Gauntlet of Fire” because of EMBER. THIS EPISODE INTRODUCES EMBER. I LOVE EMBER. YOU LOVE EMBER. EVERYONE LOVES EMBER. EMBER

Otherwise it was merely standard fun fluff for the series.

Season 7: A Royal Problem / The Perfect Pear / Fame and Misfortune

3-way tie on the last season, all fantastic for different reasons. It’s possible this last season might have been the best season yet. It’s also possible that each of these three episodes aren’t far away enough for me to get a broader perspective on what had the most impact.

“A Royal Problem” gave us the much needed and called for Royal Sisters episode. AND IT WAS SO GENUINE. And just handled perfectly. 

“The Perfect Pear” was just. . .the perfect episode. Again, addressing an issue that has long been overdue, and doing it with the perfect blend of sincerity and emotion. WHO DIDN’T NEARLY CRY?

And “Fame and Misfortune” might be unpopular to pair with these others, but I absolutely loved it. I consider it an appropriate inverse to “Slice of Life” (which I loved too btw). Where as that episode glorified and celebrated everything Brony--this episode is an honest carefully crafted criticism of the bad parts of the fandom. As I said before, if you’re offended by what the episode had to say, you’re either being too insecure, or directly the problem.

Anyways, Honorable Mention has to go to “Shadow Play”, for attempting to give us an Avenger’s type experience. It falls a bit short of that, but I appreciate the attempt anyway. 

There are so many more episode that deserve mention though. I had to force myself to keep my Honorable Mentions limited to one entry, or else not do them at all. Or I’d have to create a “Oh and I loved this episode too” category and then we’d be here literally all day.

Stephen sat enjoying the silence of the house before anyone would inhabit the kitchen. He was glad that with all the transition, he was still able to find a moment of routine. He looked over at the leaky faucet. He could almost see her standing there in her long summer dress that clung to her in very flattering way. Her blonde hair in a messy bun, some of her hair falling out in her efforts to fix the sink. Stephen held his breath as he prepared for his vision to face him.  To give him that existential feeling as he looked upon her face and gave him a source of comfort. The sun shown around her acting like a heavenly halo. Her hair moved elegantly along her back, the side of her face was began to eclipse.

The kitchen’s side door opened and Françoise trailed in. Her thin curly hair bounced as she trotted up to the table. Stephen looked at her for a moment. A moment he wish he could have taken back as when he flashed a glance back at the sink, his vision was gone. His heart dropped. Everyday he felt her absence anew. Each morning he awoke without her in his life was like losing her all over again. Françoise deserved to know what an amazing woman her mother was from he, the one who knew her he best. But he couldn’t find the words to tell her. How could he convey his love for her in mere mortal words?

“Françoise, my princess, how did you sleep?” Françoise looked up at Stephen as if taken by surprise.

“Yes, well papa.” He did his best to smile. Trying not to show his pain to his daughter.

“Your English is coming along splendidly.” Françoise filled a large glass with the fresh milk on the table and took a sip.

“Mrs. Y/L/N has been practicing with moi.”

“Well...good then.... least she’s good for something.” Stephen retorted trying not to take his annoyance at the mention of your name out on her.

“Ms. Y/L/N is fun. After school today she is going to help me press leaves.” He smiled at her excitement and got up to pat her on the head, unable to find the ability to show anymore emotion towards her than that. He had never known the love of a family and wasn’t sure how to do it for his own daughter. She looked up at him, wanting to ask, but afraid of his answer. “Maybe, papa could please help as well?” Her childish eyes filled with such an overpowering plead that Stephen’s heart melted.

“Of course, my lovely girl.” His hand on her head, traveled down to her chin and he pressed his thumb lightly.

The kitchen door opened again, interrupting the moment and you entered. His demeanor changed and he dropped his hand and moved farther out of your way than was required. Your presence was an insult. He was more than capable of handling his own life, though deep, deep in his subconscious he knew your existence in the house was a blessing. He would never admit this out loud and stared at you through his peripherals.

“Good Morning!” You sang perkily to the room. Françoise smiled and looked to her father. Stephen noticed this and tried to smile, his face forgetting what it was like. It ended up a complacent smirk. You begin to heat up the stove by putting logs into the furnace and go to the fridge to grab the eggs and toasts.

The noise captured your attention and you turned to inspect the sink. Moving to the sink you looked around for the source of the problem, you began to play with the taps and desperately trying to cease the annoying repetitive noise. From behind you, a screech of a chair startled you.

“Don’t touch that.” You turned again to the table.

“Sorry?” You asked, not sure if you heard him correctly.

“I have asked you to stop what you are doing, ” He said a little more forcefully. “Did I stutter?” He mumbled as he sat back down and went back to reading his newspaper, hiding his rage behind it.

You couldn’t fathom what he had just said to you. Had he just asked you not to fix the dripping sink?

“Pardon, Lieutenant Wraysford… but… you’d like me to leave the sink to continue leaking?” You looked back at the sink. Each drop that fell was like a clash of an annoying cymbal.

“That’s what I said.” The voice rose above the newspaper like a large speech bubble that threatened to explode the gentleness of the kitchen atmosphere.

You shrug and make your way back to making breakfast. You look over to Françoise, seeing if she had noticed the passive aggressive exchange. The young girl was sitting with a sketch pad, doodling with three different colour small pencils. Completely oblivious to what was happening around her. You then turn your eyes subtly to Stephen. Behind the paper you could see an angry puff of smoke, He must have lit up without you noticing. This was something you had tried to squash as soon as you had moved in, knowing it couldn’t be good for Françoise to be around. You knew Stephen needed his vices, but this would have to be one reserved for outdoors. You coughed aloud, hoping Stephen would get the hint. This was met with the sounds of a long inhale and an even longer exhale, and then a giant puff of smoke that surrounded Stephen like a thunderous rain cloud.

You brought the two plates of breakfast over, leaving yours for the moment. One was placed before Françoise and she instantly took up her fork and began to eat.

“Once you’re finished we will get ready to leave for school.” You said as you used one hand to push Stephen’s paper down to the table roughly. After placing his breakfast down, you removed the burning cigarette from his mouth.  

“Outside, Stephen.” You repeated flatly, in order not to cause a scene in front of Françoise. Without flinching Stephen grabbed your wrist as gently as his annoyed demeanor would allow. He took the still burning cigarette and placed it back into his mouth.

“Excuse me. Won’t you. I’m suddenly not hungry.” He said and roughly rose from his place at the breakfast table and let himself outside. Anger rose inside you. For weeks now you had been putting up with his behavior, believing that if you were more accommodating and understanding to his condition, he would in turn be more welcoming. However, this had not been the case and instead your attempts were met with immature remarks and attitude. Recently, you had taken to calling the shots in order to assert your demand for at least an ounce of respect. This was obviously for not.

Françoise seemed to have noticed something going on between Stephen and you and looked at you worriedly. You looked down at her and grinned.

“I’m sure you’re papa, just needed a breath of fresh air. How fun, a girl’s breakfast together!” You smiled and grabbed your plate, sitting in the middle chair between Françoise and where Stephen sat. Françoise looked still worried as she moved around the bit of eggs and toast left on her plate.

“Papa says that’s where Mama used to sit.”

You instantly stare at her, realizing how much Stephen’s afflictions have effected Françoise.

“Oh, yes dear, quite right. I suppose I will just sit on the opposite side then.” Picking up your plate, you move across the way and finally make yourself comfortable. “Now, if you are done, please go and get dressed so I can walk you to the school yard.” Françoise smiles and excuses herself from the table. As the kitchen door swings close, you bury your head in your hands and sigh a large sigh of frustration. What had you got yourself into?

You looked up again. In front of you stood the empty chair that was meant for the beloved Isabella. Johanna had explained about Stephen and her sister to you. This man had pined for the same woman for almost 10 years of his life. This was no ordinary love and you could appreciate it and tried to abide by Stephen’s requests concerning her memory in the house.

But what you couldn’t do was listen to this leaking faucet go on for whatever attachment Stephen had to it. As breakfast was already ruined for you anyway, you walked over to the sink and rolled up your sleeves. You reach underneath the sink and produce a wrench. You’d pay whatever the consequences for a moment’s peace.

With Françoise and you away, Stephen had come into the house once more, another lite cigarette hanging from his lips. He plopped himself down into his kitchen chair and looked for his paper. It had been folded nicely and his breakfast had been covered as to keep the heat in. Stephen said a silently thank you as he sat down. Shifting his weight he prepared to eat.

Silence.

He looked up. His fork fell to table top and he turned his head slowly towards the sink, but Isabella was nowhere to be seen and the leaking faucet had ceased to bring her back to him. Knocking the chair over as he got up from the table, he looked around. The guilty wrench laid on the counter serving as hard evidence you had not listened to his direct request. The lit cigarette fell from his lips and fell with a descending hiss as it eliminated itself on the water droplets left behind. His fist collided with the counter and he could instantly feel the hardened pain of a bruise instantly form. How dare you try to remove her from this room, this spot. You had come into his life and tried to change all he had worked so hard to maintain. He was existing, coping with life from day to day as best he could. Now you had threatened to change everything he was comfortable with. Without her overwhelming presence, her vision to vanquish his nightmares, how could he go on? She needed to come back, he needed her now. Without thinking, Stephen grabbed his hat and coat and walked out the door.

The large rocks and stones in patches along the dirt road where making it even harder for Stephen to walk straight. It had been most likely a bad idea for him to stay out all day at the nearest pub. Just as you were beginning to enjoy his embrace, his arms let go and your anguish returned.

“I thought I heard something.” He said, pretending as if nothing had happened and he stumbled backwards.

If he had been more intoxicated he would have taken you, having been deprived of it for so long, but his anger and pride wouldn’t allow the thought.
