Interesting. May be a bad idea to say this especially on your comeback

I think she's being honest. Unlike BTS members the BP girls do not delude themselves into thinking all the group's fans have an interest in their solo work. So in my opinion it means she's referring to everyone who are fans of her solo music, ot4 blinks included.

Because sometimes I find the whole army thing BTS do amusing because most armys don't even care about what the members have to say if it isn't related to the group or the member isn't their bias.

Bp has always been honest with were they stood as a group and never pretended to not know that they have solo fans. And unlike BTS the bp girls are obviously not interested in the group or never pretended to be so they don't have any reason to pretend by thanking blinks..

Also unlike some members of BTS all black pink members have experienced real success with their solo music. Success that all rivaled the group's so they honestly have no reason to put up a facade.

And this lack of pretense is one of the reasons why all of them did well as soloists. They cultivated their own identity outside the group while BTS members will probably be stuck and hindered as soloists by the group because they've made it who they are as individuals. And like the last anon implied the only one most people will care about is the one who has always been and is still being shoved in our faces.

Some members like Joon already talked about their identity as artists in relation to bts as a group, and he was obviously not happy about it.

Idk if you’ve heard but Lisa from Bp performed at some fancy place in Paris and her bf’s ultra mega rich family was there

I actually found out from a Western Pop page on reddit because she really made some noise

Everyone was talking about how she’s clearly not renewing

And on one hand I am happy for her. I am not a stan but she is the most hardworking Bp member and she was treated like shit for being Thai so I think it’s great she can get away from toxic knetzs

On the other hand I feel sorry because I wish Jimin were in a similar position

Imagine all the opportunities she will get just for herself and all the other door that would open for her for the first time as an idol

While we are stuck with Jimin being treated like the black sheep of hybe. We have to watch helplessly how they are giving everything to the dildo boy and these fuckass spoiled kids.

Idk how anyone who cares about Jm thinks is ok to stay in hybe considering that he will NEVER be their priority. Ever. Even if they treat him better and he gets better promo he will NEVER be treated like he deserves in hybe.

Not much of a blackpink stan but I do look up for their content that shows up on tiktok or twitter (or x, wtv we’re calling it now). I think the group is mid in terms of discography but they have good money going in marketing to make their songs popular. I’ve listened to some of their b-side that weren’t as much known to gp & felt they were good. Or until I happened to know many of these were rejects from some pop singers and yg took them for bp. I don’t bother engaging in fan wars too coz it’s mostly a joke on blinks side as they can’t come up with any quick comeback at army’s except for dragging the boys for their appearance or youtube achievements. Although I have one confession to make, which is lil silly so pls forgive. I think I’ve grown to be a Lisa sympathiser smh in some of these months as I watch their tour clips? There are thousands of clip on Tiktok showing how unsyncronise the group is, mostly jennie slacking as per usual and even other two members looking disinterested in group performances or stiff. Lisa is better than the other 3 from all clips I looked at, which is being used as a defence slander against bts. Defending one entire group’s downfall by one member it’s funny to think about LOL. But just sometime ago I saw one tiktok on feed where they captioned lisa was sick but still performed throughout and blinks in replies were gross saying that ‘she only got fever everyone has it not a big deal’ it was upsetting to read. Like if somebody as an army says something like this to a member they’re surely getting kicked out from army fandom coz this is legit anti behaviour but in blink city they celebrate this? Meanwhile if Jen is leaving stages due to sickness they’re pitying her. IG this internalised sympathy over one member is so dense that members got more solos than whole group stans and blinks know that they’ve failed as a fandom so they nitpick fights with armys instead. Also normalise blaming yg for their favouritism to polarise the group, I think nobody can save them from the downfall when this group disbands. Serves the company right.

Lisa is a hard worker who genuinely seems to like her job and she’s rlly good at it, I hope she will always be successful and happy xx

oh those girls did not want to be in that company ssffjsjfjfj jennie started applying for copyright while they were still on tour, she had her bags packed ready to go. i guess we can assume that the reason why negotiations took so long was bcs they were trying to figure out if they could fully leave yg but in order to stay as blackpink and keep their discography and rights etc they kind of had no choice so that’s why they renewed their group contract

it’s funny bcs now yg will finally want more group comebacks bcs otherwise who’s gonna be keeping their lights on? bcs i know it’s not tr*asure or babymonster

Honey, I'm sorry to say this but Numbers don't mean shit anymore. They really don't, especially in Kpop because some of those huge names (yes, I'm talking about BTS and BP too boohoo) could burp into a mic for three minutes straight and fans would STILL eat it up and mass stream it.

Let me make it more down to earth and realistic, however, since some people don't seem to get my sarcastic packaged words and jump to calling me an anti instead.

What are views, sales and streaming numbers SUPPOSED to represent? Technically, it's supposed to represent the popularity of a certain piece of content, no matter if video, sound or written. However, with the mass streaming, all of this is thrown out the window, because dedicated mass streamers and number chasers as I like to call them, will often use MULTIPLE devices and accounts to stream over multiple DAYS. That is not an accurate representation of how much they would've streamed it at all.

Another even simpler example.

Person A and B both publish a book each. While Author A's Book is advertised normally and bought normally, person B gets let's say their parents to buy as many copies as they can. Author A reaches about one thousand sales for their book, every sale one person each, while Author B's family threw all funds together to buy two thousand books, father and mother buying one thousand each, but no one else buys a book. Now tell me-

Who's more successful here?

It's really at this point only a dick measuring contest amongst fans to be able to tell other fandoms how much of a 'flop' the other group is because their MV didnt get a gazillion views. It's pointless, and that's my reason for not participating in it.

BLACKPINK: HOW YOU LIKE THAT

ngl I’m kinda sad bc a lot of y’all don’t like the song ;-; but I can’t do anything about it since it’s your opinion so

but I hope that people know the difference between hating and giving criticism saying the song sucks and that it’s trash music is straight up music

I can get why people are disappointed with the song since everyone wanted almost the same thing, “jennie getting a rap part”, “jisoo saying blackpink in your area” and a high note from rosé

personally I really like the song, to me it’s not the same as dddd and ktl tbh I think it’s different

plus I kinda expected it to be like that bc their songs usually follow that yg style ya know the only songs I say that don’t follow that stereotypical yg style is “love scenario”, “stay” and AKMU’s songs

i mean if you compare the song with other yg artists song, they all have the same vibe to it because of the “yg style” we always say

the song also gives me nct and skz vibes too, like specifically “punch” and “side effects” bc of the heavy edm and also bc their songs has been called noise before dhshd

but enough of that

I really like how the song starts calmly in the beginning and then it starts to be more aggressive

also I like the fact that each of the girls get a chance to say “how you like that”

okay actually writing this out, it’s mv has “dtna” vibe but the song is so much like “yes or yes”

back the real song review, I’m so glad that momo got a dance break! I think that this is their fairest line distribution yet. jeongyeon got her lines, dubchaeng got their rap parts and momo has a lot of center parts!!

and the girls look so much happier during their promotions especially tzuyu! she was smiling so much, maybe it’s because mina is with them and I’m so happy they get to perform as nine again

but we do have some ideas what will happen to the members though, we all know yena will be added into everglow, i having a feeling that eunbi and chaeyeon will be debuting as a soloist, they have so much potential plus the radiate chungha energy

nako, hitomi and sakura would most likely return to Japan, although I see sakura staying in korea to pursue an acting career and hitomi as a producer since she wrote some of izone’s songs

yuri might debut as a solo or debut in a new girl group as main vocalists, the same goes for chaewon

i see minju and hyewon going into acting careers and CF contracts, the same as kang mina, especially since minju is now an mc for music core

whereas for wonyoung and yujin, their both still young so I think they’ll finish school before re-debuting in groups plus yujin will be attending sopa

especially wonyoung, we all know that she’s actually really smart and is good at academics, i also think she might do modeling work, she fits the criteria

i also kinda see yujin pursuing an acting career because she will be in the theatre and film department in sopa. unless starship is going to debut a new girl group, I hope that yujin can debut as a soloist instead

I love the whole horror concept and I also like the fact that they released the uncensored version of the mv

the outfits might be simple, but it fits so right with the song, I prefer the white dresses over the black ones

Alright most of y’all know how I feel about BP so you can imagine my expression reading this 😭 In your defense, if she’s asking you ‘do you like the song? It’s amazing right?’ Etc, she is kind of asking for it. Especially considering it sounds like you guys have a history of this. I really can feel for your friend, it probably is upsetting because she’s waited so long for BP to comeback and she wants nothing but the best for them. But you cannot say it doesn’t sound recycled when it does.

We can argue that the intro is new but as soon as we hit chorus it just goes downhill from there. The beat is almost the exact same as KTL in various parts of the song. Nobody can deny that with each comeback their title track is very similar to past comebacks. And that’s what I originally meant when I said Blackpink comes across as stuck in the same sound. I do like hylt, like BP make good music! It’s just always the same. It’s always the same baddie style of clothes. It’s always the same style of beat and mix of music. It’s always the same. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Like I absolutely think the dance breaks beat slaps and nobody can deny ‘Bring out the boss bitch’ is iconic. But to say Blackpink doesn’t recycle some parts of their image, whether it’s in sound or style is just blind. Hell you could even put it against Boombayah and still get the same impression.

For the sake of your friendship though, I think maybe you should sit down with her and talk it out. It sounds like she doesn’t think too highly of BTS and that’s made you annoyed with her as you don’t think highly of Blackpink. Everyone can have their opinions but we don’t always have to say them every chance we get. Especially when we have a friend who likes said persons music. If you guys can come to sort of understanding I think it would help the frustration you both feel 🖤

Celebrating Twice More And More comeback along with Blackpink's Sour Candy comeback here's a detour at my favourite concepts done by K-POP groups. It's just intended to make you a little bit nostalgic because no one wants to live in 2020 as of now.

Dreamcatcher.

The unconventional Nightmares of K-pop. They are the first ones to embrace this horror concept which is something new and out of the box. While horror remains a largely untouched concept,they add a Victorian era style to it which is so elegantly executed and so beautiful to watch. A really creative and bold take in an industry which largely runs on convention. Their debut single is Chase Me,each member represents a different nightmare from Chase Me to Scream eras. My favourite track has to be Deja Vu. Below is the MV for Chase Me (Debut single) :-

2. GOT7

Cute concept by a boy group can come of as cheesy and forced but almost every ahgase(their fans) are fond of this comeback and the lyrics are also really sweet and can help anyone having a bad day cheer up. Below are the lyrics of Just Right by Got7.

3. BTS

Blood,Sweat and Tears was what made me an army. It makes references to biblical events and Greek mythology and being the huge nerd I am I loved it. It was like a crossover between Dan Brown and Greek mythos. The MV is so beautiful and the song itself has lyrics which basically depict the loss of innocence by depicting the seven sins. Some of the most interesting fan theories have come from this MV.

4. EXO

I miss Exo.

Okay, Exo has been very experimental with their music and I love their concepts but my favourite has to be The War. (Yes I know Monster was their best but I'm talking about originality here). It starts from Ko ko Bop which I basically interpret as living in the moment but Ko Ko Bop is a made up phrase which basically means dancing to the beat on the last night before a war.

Another song is Power, which brings back their Superpower concept (OT12 Memories 😭). But the song which I loved the most has to be The Eve, it reminds me of a dystopian fiction novel and I absolutely love it. Also the performances are very sexy lol.

5. Mamamoo

These ladies never fail to amaze me and it may seem like girl crush at first but they have moved beyond that and many of their fans jokingly call them a "Woman group". Girl crush concepts are not always empowering but whenever Mamamoo makes a girl crush song it is. Two such songs are HIP and Yes I am . The lyrics are blatantly straightforward for both songs and while Hip makes a statement on the double standards faced by women by enhancing their own struggles as female idols.

Hip” celebrates the power of femininity while also pointing out how the media places an uncomfortably close lens on female celebrities, painting them in an unflattering light if they step out of the rules society sets for them.

6. Red Velvet

Another unconventional concept, their signature style is creepy. Well the name Red velvet represents their duality- Red being their softer cuter style and Velvet being a polished, sophisticated side. Their Velvet song MVs are creepier by a long shot but red side is creepy too.

The lyrics don't usually imply anything creepy unlike Dreamcatcher where the lyrics are telling a story and it's more playful and this is what sets RV apart. How creepy can they get? I present the much beloved Peek-a-Boo . But they can and will get creepier. I love their psychopath concepts.

So that's all I can think of right now and I will keep exploring more. These are very mainstream and I hoped these are some concepts everyone likes to revisit. This blog was mainly written because twice and BP both seem to have undergone major concept changes.

I hate all the negativity that Blackpink is receiving lately. They dont deserve the hate, when its YG's fault for most of it. People saying Blackpink is swindling people of money is just dont get it. Its different going to a live concert than watching it on your phone. Even if they sing the same songs, I would be happy to see them live while finally being able to use my lightstick.

Its really uncalled for and it really shows how much BP haters just love to start stuff. The hate towards Jennie is just getting worse and it really disgusts me how people can say such shitty things when she herself said she will try to improve. Constructive criticism and pure hate are different things.

Every Blink wants more songs, and YG said that BP will have a comeback this year and Rosé's solo song is coming out too. If your not a fan of Blackpink, then dont start unnecessary stuff. Blackpink isn't everyone cup of tea, and I understand that. But dont purely hate on them for no reason.

I have a question: Do you think Blackpink already paid off their trainee debt? I heard it`s abt 30k per month. So between 1.440.000 to 2.160.000 million dollars for the BP members based on their trainee period. Tzuyu from Twice paid off after a year but she also just trained 1 1/2 years. Okay, this is an excellent Question. Honestly, I don’t know. There are a lot of rumors surrounding YG, from ”once you debut your debt free,” to “YG does not take any trainee fees,” but I doubt that. I think there will be a certain amount the company wants to get from a group before they reach full pay. Which has nothing to do with how long each trainee trained under YG, but more how much the whole process of building the group has cost them. Just think of the many trainees who we know have left YG. Probably none of them had to pay any charges for exiting but they still spend recources and time on them for a possible group x debut. However, this payment withhold is common in the industry as it also serves as a kind of assurance to avoid runaways. We saw that happening with some EXO M members. When you get a better offer that’s also better for your mental health, and gives you more artistic freedom, everyone would ditch their old job and take the better one. So how long would an idol really stay and be in the group, if they are already well off? So for me, trainee debts are a myth or an excuse for the company to restrain more money in the first something years to assure the effort and cost they put in a group at least pays off (more like doubles off) and the idols behave and resign. This excludes smoll nugu companies who literary risk everything including their own house to train the kids and debut a group. Most contracts are cruel, but from a business perspective they sadly make sense in a so fast running industry everyone is just trying to make some money from each other. (That doesn’t make slaves contract okay, or risking someone else health for the companies profit and pay refusing companies are the worst, at least give them the promised amount!) Not sure how much the girls make, but I would say the moment you read articles about one of the member spends money on vacation, buys a car, or moves out of the shared dorm, that’s a safe indication that they start to be independent and are well off. So I guess YG increases their salary like yearly or slowly, and they get a better deal once the contract renewal comes around to keep them in the company. That way the company can comfortably milk them out first and then get to enjoy the security of most members renewing. So my overall answer is they just get enough to keep them happy and satisfied.If I remember right CF gets differently split, the members get more from those deals then they get from music shows. There is also the whole sponsoring rumors attached to it. But yeah CF are handled differently. Also, the amount of comeback does not equal pay. Again album sales do barely cover the production cost. The concerts and touring bring in the real money, so the real question is how many gigs did they have since debut and how big were the venues and how well did the tickets sell?

So I don’t think I can give you a satisfying right answer as its pretty much-guessing game, but I hope this is somehow interesting and good enough answer.

Summary: They probably make some money, but not that much yet.

Nobody would have problems with her having a major collab not even after a month of her solo debut if Jennie and Rosie were allowed to do so too. Mainly Jennie though, since everytime her fans ask for her comeback blinks drop the "she has to wait for the others" card... Goah! Thank you for your post on Shuri! I love hearing your thoughts on how she is idealized in so far as she remains childlike. I especially despise how her flaws (things that drive the story) are straight up ignored. Flipping off the king, interrupting the royal ceremony, teasing her brother’s traditional BP suit. All beautiful flaws that can grow a story of modernity vs tradition. Watching her grow and influence her world is prime fanfic material. But nope. Sweet Shuri. Memes and comebacks.

Exactly this!!  She’s such an interesting character.  She is super-modern and knowledgeable about the outside world, but she’s also emotional and proudly wears them on her sleeve.  She feels and reacts BIG.  She’s almost the opposite of her brother in that.He’s super-reserved and her openness and honesty, keeps him on his toes. If she’s pissed, if she’s happy, whatever she’s feeling… You’re gonna know it at a glance.Shuri also has a huge heart, she’s confident in her skills and abilities, but has this charm that for me is centered in her gleeful curiousity and drive to always best herself.  Her feeling and doing big and being confident about it is a product of her not only being royalty but being in Wakanda, away from the anti-black (girl) mess of the outside world.She’s a lot like Kilmonger in how much she wears her emotions on her sleeve (those genes!) but the difference is what drives it.Kilmonger does it as a defense mechanism, because he was hurt so badly.  It comes from trauma.  The constant emotional flexing he does.Shuri’s comes from being the youngest in a royal family.  You just KNOW everyone loves her to death and spoiled her a bit.If she were ever to become queen, she’d take a lot more risks, I think.
