Today is Neil Peart Day. He would have turned 71. He left an indelible mark on music with his technical prowess as a drummer while taking influence from various drummers and styles.

Neil influenced influenced generations of drummers where they studied his technicality and intricacies of the craft he continually worked to perfect.

As a lyricist, he penned lyrics from various sources such as literature, world history, and so much more. He poetically put pen to paper.

Chapter 21: Oxygen

The weeks leading up to the summer break passed by in a blur. Their normal routines were bulging with the addition of pre-break stress, finishing up projects and studying for exams, and Makoto’s physical therapy appointments and exercise schedule were thrown into the mix too.

Because of this, they didn’t have as much free time to spend together as they’d grown accustomed to. Nevertheless, they did their best to find moments in the day to see each other. Sharing an apartment was a huge plus point, for even if their attention was demanded elsewhere, they could at least attend to their own matters in the same room.

Besides that, Haruka still walked Makoto to and from his university every day. After a certain point, Makoto didn’t require Haruka’s chaperoning anymore, but neither of them mentioned it. When the harvest of oysters was sparse, they had to treasure every pearl they found. Read more on AO3!
