in my first sketch (left) wanted to have cami doing nothing with her hands, abscuring them complerely somehow, and then theres one where shes literallt going in circles with golden with her hands behind her back, and Golden offering out their hand. second sketch (middle) i got the idea to have Cami not looking at golden, crying, and gaving Golden hold her hands to their face, cupping their own face with her hands, and kissing her hands to show theyre not evil. but the third (right) sketch i realized that i didnt really like Golden being "above" Cami in any way, whether it was her own perception of them as better than her, or not, i liked the idea of golden "coming down to her level" on the floor and comforting her, being by her side. so! on the floor! they re both on the floor now.

heres where i start focuing on the one pose, getting the anchor as an earring instead of a hairclip, and i lifted her head a bit but i ddnt like that, i really really liked the "dropped" hanging head she had in that third sketch. uh blue sketch is the begining og the final thing! yay! then the first actual draft thing. this is when i decided that i wanted to colorpick the blues specifically from chocs videos. twas essential. uhhh yeah. yeah. long story short this it totally revenge. this is me getting revenge. revenge from choco, who clearly wrong me, me in specific, by using the cranewives in his propaganda. this is revenge, i hope you explode. <3

i think it’s important to note the difference between one isolated incident/fight leading to an estrangement, and gendrya being a couple that fights. like, ‘fights,’ plural

let’s unpack the first one 

in the asoiaf universe, this is easy to conceptualize, right? gendry is sold to the brotherhood/arya goes to braavos/arya rejects the proposal/gendry takes storm’s end/whatever variation of any of those you want to hold onto. regardless, there is Time Spent Apart

in a modern au, obviously the lines are blurred here a lot more 

i’ve read a ton of different variations of this ‘estrangement’ in fic, same as you probably have. and i guess one of the easier ways to get there in a modern universe is through some sort of falling out 

i think it’s incredibly dependent on the story/universe, if i’m being honest. i don’t necessarily think a fight/falling out - when well-written - is this huge not believable thing 

the difference comes into play when you’re asking whether gendrya is a Couple That Fights A Lot. and the answer to that is no, i don’t think they are 

one of my strongest headcanons is that gendry and arya are best friends, and they’re each other’s favorite people in the world, and they certainly get under each other’s skin sometimes, but i don’t think they have frequent (or even infrequent) arguments 

tbh, i could see ‘increased fighting’ being a factor in their relationship before they become a couple

like some sort of repression/confusion on gendry’s part (about his feelings for arya), manifesting itself as frustration toward her

or insecurity/self-doubt coming out similarly on arya’s side

but once they’re together, i really don’t see it being a thing that happens a lot. because they’re not a couple that needs to Learn Things About Each Other, now that they’re in a relationship. they already know everything there is to know 

gendry is very canonically stubborn, and arya is canonically very spirited, so i think the hard parts of their relationship arise when one of them is upset about something outside of the two of them, and those emotions seep into their communication with the other

in those instances, i think arya understands that gendry is someone who grew up with not a ton of support & not a ton of great outlets for his anger. so she knows he’s a person that needs space & time to be alone

on the other hand, i think gendry knows that arya is much more vocal in the way she processes. so he’s gotten better at meeting her in the middle when it comes to talking things out

idk i feel like this is quite a boring answer, so i’m sorry!! but i certainly don’t headcanon gendrya as a hot-headed, argumentative couple

i think that can be fun sometimes in fic, don’t get me wrong. i have read many, many, many fics that i love very much, in which they have a more fiery/contentious dynamic. it can work, because i tend to think good writers can make almost anything work.

but i think the real beauty/essence of gendrya as a pairing is in their healthy, mutually supportive friendship & how well they know each other ✨
