#H50 season 4 episode 6

Thoughts on H50 Season 9 so far.

I love H50 to bits (I binged 8 seasons of it and plan to rewatch it from the start) but season 9 has had a couple of rough episodes.

Episode 1 was great with Steve tortured and Danny worried

Episode 3 felt a little bit filler-y but not bad.

Episode 4 was great too with Joons and Jerry heart to heart. it was really moving. and let's not forget Steve and Danny the fishing for feet 😂

Then Episode 5. I was bored most of episode 5. I love Eric and anytime he shows up. He needs to show up more. Also love Noelani. And wow Jerry's friends are dicks. Also very obvious Bo was not the killer. Also also - Jerry is now with five-0 why didnt he go to Steve and Danny and be like "i think there was a murder but no one believes me". He definitely would've been able to use five-o resources. More than he had at least.

Episode 6 was fun. With Danny laughing at Steve getting arrested 😂

So was Episode 7. Time-wimey solving a 90 year old cold case while dreaming. Singer Tani. Get to know a little bit more about Steve's grandad. Great episode.

Then we get to Episode 8. Oh this episode was not good. My least favourite episode of the whole show. Forgiving family just because they're family even when they treat you like shit. Even Lou's wife wasn't on his side 😠(and she's always been on his side. I loved the episode where he thinks his best friend killed his wife and she's like "if you think he did it, prove it") and then it all gets solved in one little scene at the end where Lou's brother does a whole 180 in personality. Sure.... 🙄

Also, was not a huge fan of the Adam story line and that it got resolved in the first five minutes of Episode 9. It was such a big deal for so long with the whole Tani "should I trust him or not" and then we didn't even get the investigation? And then it was the banker dude (Mr. Kimura). Like that doesn't even make sense. Adam and his relationship seemed pretty close. And he had no vested interest in the other yakuza bosses. Make it a member from one of the other yakuza families that aren't getting paid anymore. Have Tani and him finish the investigation.

Then thankfully Episode 9 was back to being good. Vigilantes, superheroes, conspiracies. Good stuff.

I also did like that Steve and Danny let go of the resto. And I like Steve not wanting to get Danny mad and Danny immediately going oh thank god. i want out too ("if you're out, I'm out"). The boys are always in synch <3.

More about the pairings and my feels under the cut

1. First Ship ↳ Sorsha/Madmartigan (Willow)

That’s the first on-screen couple which I was interested about in terms of them ending up together. I was still a kid then, but I remember hoping they become a couple at the end of the movie.

2. First OTP ↳ Liz/Michael (Roswell)

And first rare pair at that, ha! The original Roswell was my first fandom I ever wrote any fics for and these two were my thing. I don’t even remember how it came to be, tbh. I just never liked Max and somehow any other canon boyfriend Liz had was never satisfying. Also I think I had a phase for brooding, lonely type that Michael represented. Teenage years, what can I say.

3. Current Fave Ship ↳ Geralt/Yen (The Witcher)

Loved them in books and thankfully the show didn’t disappoint. Sure, I think some things could’ve been improved, but overall I’m not complaining much. And I can’t wait for what season two will bring.

4. Your Ship Since the First Minute ↳ Cath/Steve (H50)

The scene in the gif isn’t their first onscreen scene, I just chose it because it’s one of my fave. But really, the moment Steve mentioned Cath in season one and we got a short glimpse of her, I was instantly “I need more of her. And of the two of them.” And my love grew stronger the more fandom hated on her (and boy, they were absolutely disgusting and awful).

5. Ship You Wish Had Been Endgame ↳ Clarke/Bellamy (The 100)

I admit I didn’t even watch the final season, but I’ve checked what happens and I was not impressed. They’ve built them up and allowed them growth only to fuck it up in the end. Disappointing. For me they had amazing chemistry and deserved to be the endgame.

6. Ship You Wish Was Canon ↳ Finn/Poe (Star Wars)

Listen, when I saw the movie for the first time I fell head over heels for Finn and Poe. I had high hopes for them in the next movies. Though a part of me knew Disney won’t have the balls to show a lot, I did hope to have them on the first lines and developing further. Instead, not only their relationship, but also characters individually were done so wrong.

7. Ship that Most of the Fandom Hates, but You Love

↳ Bucky/Peggy (MCU)

Listen, you can try to pry Bucky and Peggy from my cold, dead hands, but even then I won’t give up. They are my most precious rare pair and I will die on that hill. First of all, they’re too amazing not to ship them. Secondly, I wholeheartedly believe they’d have an amazing relationship if they got more screen time together. As a ship maybe they’re not exactly hated by fandom, but they’re not popular at all. The saddest part is that Bucky fans majorly hate on Peggy and vice versa, all because of Steve who canonically loves them both. I’m just like Steve - I love them both.

8. You Don’t Even Watch the Show, but You Ship It ↳ David/Patrick (Schitt’s Creek)

I haven’t seen a single episode of the show (yes, yes, I know it’s great and all, I just never had the opportunity to see it), but I saw many gifs on my dash. Including those of David and Patrick, and I find them cute.

9. Ship That You Wish Had a Different Storyline ↳ Jax/Tara (Sons of Anarchy)

Yeah, I wish they had a storyline that didn’t include Tara’s death! Also wish all that post-prison stuff in a way perished. Honestly, I wish they had a different storyline post season 3/4, instead of becoming darker, colder, more awful. The edgy, brutal atmosphere of the show became too much and was overdone at that point, in my opinion.

10. Fave Ship That’s Endgame ↳ Peggy/Steve (MCU)

How could I not pick them?! :) They’re the ship of ships. My greatest treasure. Love of my life. Some people move on from ship to ship, but for me they’re endgame and always will be. And they got their well deserved happy ending.

To celebrate 2021, I’m posting (and reposting if you’re followed me a while) my favorite fanvids of all time for my various fandoms.

First off, McDanno, because following the shit-show finale, I was finally inspired to write my first fic in 4 years because I HAD TO FIX THAT SHIT. There are many excellent McDanno vids but I love this one because the song is perfect.

This is my favorite SPN ones because while I ship Destiel, I actually do understand why people ship Dean with, well, pretty much anyone. Because Jensen Ackles just exudes sexual energy and this vid proves it. If you ship Dean with someone other than Cas, I get it because I have no trouble imagining Dean *tapping that*, no matter who it is.

I have many MCU videos that I love because more than another fandom, they have their editing *tight*. Glitter and Gold gets a lot of well-deserved props, but this one is excellent and touches on the heart inside every MCU hero.

My favorite Starsky and Hutch video was inspired from another video that aired at a con (yes, S&H fandom has cons!) and it’s one I adore because I have a deep soft-spot for the Tornio, but also for the boys.

This Harry Potter vid is one of the first fanvids I recall watching over and over. It’s one of my fav. One Republic songs, and it gets to the heart of what that series was for me: it’s a war story.

This vid of Han/Leia is special because it captures exactly what 10 year-old me was captivated by after Empire came out and why they will be the forever ship of my teen years.

This song is MADE for fanvids and I have seen it used for several ships, but I like this one for Johnlock because that is one ship where the canon seems to inspire the lyrics the most.

Ok, I’ve been puzzled by this. Here, and in another shot of Sam and Bucky on the plane, Bucky is wearing dog tags.

BUT it’s fully established that he’s not current military and there would be NO reason for Hydra to have kept his WWII dog tags on him because they didn’t want him to ever remember who he truly was, plus it’s been DECADES so if not destroyed in the 40’s, certainly lost.

BUT Steve had his dog tags on when he crashed into the ice so they were recovered when he was thawed and they would be among his belongings.

THEREFORE Bucky is wearing Steve’s dog tags.

Jerry Ortega/Steve McGarrett - oh, wow, nope, nah, sorry. I respect the shippers who ship them and write stories for them. But I can’t feel the fire and the affection, like holy fucking shit no!

11. The episode you always skip

Ah, shoot a question at me and I draw a blank...I can’t think of a specific episode because at one point there’s Steve or Steve related material I need to see. BUT there are long moments with Lou Grover, especially non H50 stuff. All episodes which revolve around him and his time in Chicago, his former days as a cop. The way he needs to make things right, dealing with his family, his brother...it would be good material to create a storyline but Grover just bores my pants off when he does his “the world’s bad and I need to fix it and on top of that I need to talk to Will about it. Teach him a lesson.” I can’t watch it. I always skip these parts.

29. The core four or the seasons 8-10 ohana?

There’s no chance to take sides. The core four is like the glue and the baseline, the ground H50 has grown strong and famous from. I’ll always love Kono and Chin and everything they stand for. Steve and Danny have a long history with these guys and that makes it all the more special. They marched through hell and back together. They evolved as persons and they choose to go separate ways. It still hurts to have lost them but the memories float around like bubbles. I love Tani and Junior, especially Junior because he’s a SEAL and Steve needs one by his side. They rock my world too, just at a different pace. Can’t decide, love them both.

36. How many times have you rewatched the show?

I don’t rewatch the entire show. I always stop around season 5 or 6 and I start all over from the beginning. The pilot I’ve seen 10 times, 15 times I think. And the rest around 4 times? And sometimes, I just pick a single episode I love so much and watch it. My favorite seasons are season 1 to 5.

46. Max or Noelani

No one can replace Max. Noelani is great though but Max was exceptional.

55. Choose a character we don’t know dob of, and speculate on their star sign

Gah! Uhm, let’s take the shop owner from the gun shop, the one with the funny, thick glasses. From the episode where Steve wears his famous white pants and Danny rants about Steve’s obsession with guns and ammo and the one where the shop owner always asks if he might assist with the sniper on the roof across the street. Okay, he’s Virgo and he hates it. He would love the be Leo but again he’s a gun geek with a funny streak to keep all neat and tidy in his shop. He’s actually jealous of this tall guy with the dark hair and the ridiculous white pants. Virgos might wear white pants. So this buff guy must be Virgo or the unicorn-style of Cancer. The short one with the sharp tone must be Taurus. And maybe he asks again if he might be of any help. He might teach this white pants wearing guy a thing or two. *giggles*

4. the character you have no rational reason to dislike, but you do anyway

I think that might be Lori. While it’s not so much the character I dislike, it’s the way she was introduced as a love interest for Steve and the way she was pictured pining for him that I found highly annoying. I was glad to see her leave again after only a couple of episodes, tbh.

6. a character you could do without on the show completely

Adam. I mean I don’t hate him, and I do like the love story between him and Kono, but I never found him to be an interesting character. He didn’t bring much value to the show imo, especially not after Kono left, and the way Steve brought him onto the team with no qualification at all just seemed wrong. I think the show wouldn’t have been any different without him.

12. insight on h50 that you always wanted to share but were shy or unsure

I can’t think of anything tbh. While I don’t always voice my opinions loudly, I don’t hold them back either.

29. the core four or the seasons 8-10 ohana?

How am I supposed to make that kinf of decision? :) I love them both! Admittedly, I love them for very different reasons, and I’d like to point out that while Kono and Chin leaving was a hard cut, the ohana had already grown and extended well before S8.

I love the core four because they were such a tightly knit team, on the same level, and even though Kono was the rookie at first, they were all equal. They were work partners, friends, family, they all knew each other inside and out. There were barely any boundaries between them and they were the epitome of “one for all and all for one”.

Then, over time, there were additions to the team and the ohana, like Max, Lou, Eric or Jerry, and the dynamic shifted, even though the core four remained at the center.

I love the later seasons ohana because of the strong found family feels. The ohana has grown and it’s like there are two generations within the family now. Tani and Junes really are rookies now, lacking experience and knowledge and Steve, Danny and Lou suddenly find themsleves in a teaching/parental role. I mean Steve and Danny referred to Tani and Junior as “the kids” themselves, and then there’s Eddie of course, and---it’s not better or worse, just completely different to the core four.

53. a character you’d like to stumble upon in your kitchen, eating everything in your fridge, at 4 am

Steve, probably, because who wouldn’t want to stumble upon Steve McGarrett in their kitchen, right? Or Junior because he’d be adorably embarrassed about being caught? I guess it strongly depends on the reason they’d be there...

Attention H50 fans!

Would you be interested in a fanficiton that follows the real episodes of the show where I add a new character? I only focus on her and only take the real scene where I would have put her in, not the whole episode. You would have to watch the actual episode to get the full plot as my story only focuses on her pov. I also add scenes I came up with where she interacts with the team or new characters...

I already posted my story on AO3, but I would like to post it here as well if people want to read it. I started at season 4 and recently finished season 5. I have plans to add my character to season 6 to 8 as well (and whatever comes in season 9)

My favorite season/chapter: season 1. The beginning of Mcdanno 9. My favorite episode/book: season 4 episode 19 ( blood brothers ) I choose this episode because season 4 sucked with anything Mcdanno. But this episode ... let me tell you about this episode okay. Spoilers for those who haven't seen it, but Danny and Steve get trapped in a building that has caved on them. Not only is Danny injured but his claustrophobia sets in and he starts having a panic attack- and Steve is there. Steve holds his hand and is the calm of the storm. He talks him through it, tries to calm him down, patches up his wound best he can And takes his mind off of it. Halfway through when Steve seems to be losing it himself, he tells Danny, point blank. "I love you, pal." In which Danny doesn't say anything in return. At least not what we wanted to hear. After they get out they hug, and Danny goes "you said that thing in there. I just wanted you to know ... what? Are you going to make me say it. C'mere. I love you." 

And that's all I ever needed. 10. Character I’d like to have sex with: .........  uhmn.  Danny Williams. Or Steve. You know.... Or both. >.> at the same time.

Part 2

I'm not going to bash any of the cast and showrunner. I don't care too much for PL because of other reasons. My issue is with Hollywood and CBS. I love the cast as a whole. The people that follows me know I love me some McDanno, Danny is my fav. Anyway, I thought about it and had a few conversations on here and Twitter. Here is why I'm pissed about this situation. Let's get this straight, Daniel and Grace left not because of money. Some of these articles make it looks like they're greedy for more money. Grace and Daniel left because they felt they were not being paid for what they're worth. Yes Alex is the lead but this is an ensemble cast. More so now with the addition of Chi, Jorge, and others. DDK and Grace are not regulars that came on a few seasons ago. They have been there since the beginning. They deserve equal pay just as much as Alex and Scott. Alex and Scott are not only making around $200,000 an episode, they both get a percentage on syndication. There is a lot of money in syndication. Even overseas where the show is more popular. Again, this is not about the money. I'm not familiar with pay wages in other countries. I only know that America ain't shit when it comes to women and minorities getting equal pay than their white counterparts. Hollywood is known for this. Especially with WOC. CBS is notorious for this. Let's take Criminal Minds for example. Recently AJ Cook and Kristen Vangsness negotiated a deal to be paid on par as Matthew Gray Gubler. These ladies has been regulars with MGG since day one. AJ left in season 6 due to being paid half than the other male co-stars. Paget Brewster had issues with the network calling them "scummy." This was around the time she left. I'm glad that the women got what they wanted but look at how long it took them. Criminal Minds is on its 13th season. They were ready to walk to get their point across. This is nothing new. Have any of you noticed CBS TV lineup. CBS is seriously lacking diversity. H50 is one of their most diverse shows. They not only lost 2 popular Asian American actors. They lost 2 popular characters, their main cast, 2 of the core 4. I'm not mad at Daniel and Grace. I'm proud they stood up for what they believed they're worth. If you follow DDK's career and know what he's like, know that he has spoken out against whitewashing. He didn't make this a racial issue. He KNOWS it's a racial issue. The man been in the business for decades, I believe he knows what he's talking about. These are my thoughts on the situation. This will be the last time I talked about this issue. Again, I might not watch this season. If I do, I will marathon it on Netflix or other means. I will not support CBS and there evil ways. FUCK THEM AND GOODNIGHT. ✌

Whump List Request

Tortured Hero; Helpless Team - Whump List (Request)

So, a while back I was asked to do a list of episodes that contain the whump scenario that we all know and love: our favorite character gets kidnapped and tortured and his friends/team are forced to sit by and watch helplessly, either in person or via video. Here’s the list! I’ll add more as I think of more, and if you have any recommendations please inbox me and I will add them to the list! Enjoy.

1. Quantico: Season 1 episode 9. Booth has already been shot and had field surgery performed on him by a very nervous Alex. Now, he’s been kidnapped and tortured as he hangs from a ceiling. Alex can do nothing for most of the episode. Worth it worth it worth. Even if it’s just for the agonized screams.

2. Banshee: Season 1 episode 10. Banshee has an abundance of torture scenes for our antihero, Lucas. However, the best one has to be in the season 1 finale; Rabbit kidnaps Lucas, ties him to a chair and tortures him. His friends finally come to the rescue but not before Rabbit inflicts serious damage to Lucas.

3. Frontier: season 1 episode 5. Yes. Yes, I am well aware that I will find any excuse to include Frontier in any sort of post I make. No. No, I am not sorry, nor is it likely that I will stop doing this. Anyway, so Harp is kidnapped/arrested in front of his friends. He is then brutally tortured both emotionally and physically. His team misses most of the torture. But, Michael is brought in just in time to witness Harp at his lowest point: crying, yelling, screaming, and fucking bleeding all over the fucking place as he hangs from the ceiling. It clearly scares Michael to see him like that. It fucks with your emotions, man.

4. Homeland: season 5 episode 10. Quinn is god-knows-where, tied up and looking slightly worse for wear. He’s poisoned, and Carrie is forced to watch it in video format as he splutters, convulses, soils himself, and eventually collapses. It’s great acting all round, and pretty good whump if you’re into that kind of thing.

5. Outlander: season 1 episode 15. I really don’t think I could ever explain just how glorious this show is when it comes to whump and plot and characters. Jamie is shot; his shoulder is dislocated; he’s stabbed; he’s tortured. (Reminder to self: do a fucking twenty-page-long whump description of this show.) Anyway, the torture in this episode is insane. He’s taken by his arch nemesis, and his hand is smashed with a mallet and nailed to a table. This is done because his wife comes to save him after he’s taken, but they are caught before they can escape and - in an act to save his wife’s life - Jamie swears that he will give into Randall’s (aforementioned arch nemesis) wish to have his way with Jamie. In order to prove that his word is true, he allows Randall to nail his already shattered hand to the table as his wife, Claire, watches. It’s amazing acting and wonderful whump, but it is hard to watch, even for the most seasoned of whumpers. This torture scene has an abundance of pained cries and shattered bones, blood and gore… bruises everywhere; there’s enough of his loved ones watching this go down. (NOTE: the whump in the book is even harsher and far more detailed than the show. Read the books.) HOWEVER. This episode is unsettling because it details the rape and defamation of a character that you cannot help but love. This strong, gorgeous, stubborn man is reduced to nothing as he lets his past tormentor rape him over and over again. It’s terrible. It really is.

6. Outlander: season 1 episode 6. This episode is almost as hard to watch as the previously mentioned one. Jamie (who has already been flogged once before) is taken to be lashed one-hundred times. A crowd - consisting of strangers as well as his father and uncle - has gathered to watch. He is whipped until he is unconscious, hanging in a pool of his own blood, his back literally ripped to shreds. It’s not pretty; the makeup is fucking fantastic and just looking at his back - dangling skin and exposed bone - is sickening. The crowd can hardly watch… his father even has a heart attack. This show is amazing, but it’s certainly not light-hearted at times. Seriously, guys, why haven’t I done a whump profile for this yet?

7. Firefly: season 1 episode 10. Mal and Wash are kidnapped by Niska. They’re electrocuted over and over again. Zoe comes to save them but she’s only able to save Wash. Niska cuts off Mal’s ear and hands it to Zoe as a souvenir. Niska ends up torturing Mal until the latter dies, and Niska has to revive him once again. By the time his team arrives, Mal is a mess. Whilst his team misses most of the torture, Wash witnessed Mal suffering, and so does Zoe for a while. This show is great regardless, so I would watch it. There’s tons of whump in it.

8. Braveheart. So I’m pretty sure that everyone’s heard about this movie, which means that most people have heard about the brutal torture scene. Wallace is hanged, drawn and quartered as a horrified crowd (including two of his closest friends) watch. They can do nothing to stop it or help him other than to cry out for mercy, even when Wallace refuses to beg for it himself. This movie is most definitely worth it, and not just for the torture scene. I think this movie is a little harder to watch because it’s based on what we can only assume is a real historical figure (too many debates surrounding that topic even to go into); that said, it’s certainly the kind of movie that stays with you no matter what.

9. NCIS: Los Angeles. Season 4 episode 24. Deeks and Sam are kidnapped. They are then tortured - electrocution and teeth-drilling - and forced to watch each other in pain, and hear each other scream. They get rescued but not before the damage is done.

10. Reservoir Dogs. I watched this movie years ago… I think I might’ve been around 14 at the time so my memory is slightly fuzzy but I’ll do my best. There’s this fucking gruesome torture scene where Mr Blonde proves just how much of a sadistic sonofabitch he can be. Plus one of the characters gets shot in the stomach and spends the whole movie dying slowly as he bleeds out. He does not, however, die quietly despite his friends’ pleads.

11. Chicago PD. Season 3 episode 01. Jay Halstead - what a specimen of a man - is kidnapped and tortured. His team is forced to stand by and watch helplessly as this happens. He's hot and he whumps so well. Best part is: at the end of the episode, even though he can hardly stand or walk, he manages to fight through the pain one last time and save the day. I would like to thank @whumpified for the suggestion.

**Honorable Mention: Once Upon a Time. Season 5 episodes 12 - 15 (5x12 - 5x15). Hook - who is fucking gorgeous - is killed for the sake of greater good, and winds up in the underworld. We don’t see the torture but we get a slight glimpse of him initially while Emma looks for him; he’s covered in blood. When we get a closer look, he’s still covered in blood, but the one side of his face is also completely bruised and swollen, he can’t place any weight on his one leg, and his arm remains wrapped around his ribs. He can hardly breathe, nevermind walk or talk; queue the multiple pained gasps and strained wheezes. He gets captured by Hades and strung up with chains. Emma finds him hanging there, trembling and unable even to react when she calls his name. He spends the next episode and a half needing help from Emma to walk and stand as the team tries to find a way to get back out of the underworld. The reason this is an honorable mention is because: whilst the actual torture itself is lacking, the whump is fantastic! Really such a great example of whump done right.

Guys, honestly, I’m struggling with this list. I can think of a shit ton of shows where the character is tortured (Banshee, H50, Once Upon a Time, The Red Road - sorta, Payback, Conspiracy Theory) but not many of them actually include the team watching helplessly. Please, if you think of any other shows, let me know! I’ll add them to the list. Sorry about the lack of shows/movies on this list; my brain has turned to literal fucking mush.
