azriel’s shadows didn’t warn him that gwyn was in the training pit because they knew exactly what (or rather who) he needed in that moment: his mate. and look, gwyn’s presence helped him feel calmer.

Elriel shippers got to be the dumbest people on the planet fr. Not only do they have zero chemistry but the bonus chapter literally shot that ship to hell. SJM could not be more clear.. Azriel’s feelings towards Elain are projections of his jealousy that his two brothers have found their true love and he’s still alone. He only thinks he likes Elain because she’s literally just there. That’s it.

Meanwhile in that same chapter we see Azriel criticized for his entitlement to Elain and he immediately forms a genuine and organic connection with Gwyn.

Not to mention the idea of an Elain and Ariel romance would be the most boring book possible. And if those 2 are endgame, good luck cuz that book will be boring AF.

What is rebound and how canon text supports e/riel being rebound:

For Az

Chapter 20 ACOFAS

"I had to look away to keep from laughing. Az, to his credit, gave Mor a smile of thanks, a blush creeping over his cheeks, his hazel eyes fixed on her. I looked away at the heat, the yearning that filled them.

But Mor waved him off and moved to pass Cassian his gift;"

Azriel was very much in love with and yearning for Mor, but Mor ignored him and in this SAME chapter (not even a few chapters), few paragraphs ahead

Elain gifted him the Powder which made him laugh, and I think it that was when the rebound situation started,

if you think it took Az 5 mins to get over his 500 years! old one-sided love for Mor and be completely healed from being rejected and hurt again and again then you would be wrong, because canon texts suggest otherwise,

He ignored the question but why? If he has no confusing emotional feelings for Mor, why did he ignore it? We are in his mind and POV after all. Him choosing to ignore the question clearly shows that he does have confusing emotional feelings for her. Which obviously seeing from a bookish and narrative viewpoint will be resolved, if you want it or not Az's yearning for Mor for 4 books will be brought up and needed to be resolved for the story to actually make sense and delve deeper in emotions and character growth.

Maas simply can't ignore Az's love and yearning of 4 books when it shapes his personality and character growth, she will have it resolved.

"Azriel said nothing. He hadn't gotten that far with his planning, certainly not beyond the fantasies he pleasured himself to."

For Elain:

Was hurt by Greysan's rejection and couldn't even return his ring.

Was still in love with Greysan even after he hurt her and was lured by his image to be trapped by Hybern.

Az saved her and most e/riels believe she fell in love with him then so let's take it that way then which would mean she immediately started having feelings after ending very serious and long-term relationship.

She rejects and returns Az's gift immediately when she couldn't return Greysan's ring shows how less she was emotionally invested in Az.

Book has NO further implication of both of them even interacting.

It checks all the boxes for rebounding. And I agree when you self-insert into a character for 4 books it might be difficult to accept it simply being a rebound.

A argument that anti's raise is:

"Az and Elain were in True love hence it can't be rebound"

Umm.. Az didn't even plan for her beyond sexual fantasies and it took 2 mins for our girl to reject his necklace, and Az goes on to smile and think about Gwyn, so like where is the love??

"Az was over Mor and Cassian noted as such hence no rebound"

He could not even answer or acknowledge in his own mind his feelings about Mor and didn't plan for Elain beyond sexual fantasies. Clearly shows emotional confusion regarding his love life.

I’m gonna make this short and sweet if Acotar 5 ends up being Azriel‘s book if SJM says the next book is a Azriel pov just has his name in the announcement as he is the main character and doesn’t have his love interest in the announcement. Elain will not be his love interest.

Elain is a main character not a love interest, if Elain’s name is not in the announcement she is not going to be with Azriel.

 Wanted to write this because I feel like the announcement might be coming within the next couple weeks. 

Remember do not be mean I personally just think Azriel’s book is next

No bonus chapters have sparked as much controversy and theorizing as Az's bonus chapter and Ember's bonus chapter.

Az's showed that he, finally, after all these years, has a mate 😍 He deserves someone as brave, beautiful, and strong as Gwyn.

Ember's showed that Cassian is, yet again, the worst mated male in existence. Nesta deserves better than a mate who won't even lift a finger to protect her.

I do look forward to Gwyn calling Cassian out on his BS next book :)

I can't stop thinking about it, I mean, does he put his hands on her cheeks? Does he put an arm around her waist while his free hand tangles in her coppery hair?

Does he trap her in the book shelves of the House of Wind's library? What if he whispers things in her ear before he claims her lips?

And my God, does he grab her by the waist and make her wrap her legs around his body? Does he smile while kissing the nymph?

What makes me crack up the most is the fact that most e/riels strongly believe that "potato steam" is "romantic foreshadowing" for e/riel, because SJM went an extra unnecessary step to add that line, hence it must mean something, (but in the same breath NC black sucking the life out of Elain, elain taking a step toward Lucien/defending him from Greysan is not foreshadowing even though it is also an extra unnecessary line because it sinks their ship)

In the same breath they harass and make fun of people for thinking a guy putting a girl in his heart, the girl making his chest spark making him unconsciously smile, SJM highlighting multiple gwynriel interactions and reactions which is also am unnecessary and extra step if it didn't mean something might also be romantic foreshadowing.

Like the hypocrisy is so funny because "potato steam= romantic" but literally a guy burying the smiling image of the girl with bright eyes which made him unconsciously smile and his chest spark being considered romantic is the point where they will go feral and harass everyone.
