PART 5 of my incorrect quotes shenanigans featuring six of our newest OCs, which I am happy I kept forgetting to post because that means I now get to use them to hopefully brighten up @katkastrofa’s day a little ^–^
#I don’t have the energy for extensive tags bc today was LONG#however. I can share a few explanations#‘but Nia. I hear you say. wouldn’t Daneli make more sense as the one who’d cry over her friends?’#yes. but have you considered Shezan is crying because she’s afraid her friends will leave her#thinking that she will only ever be second best to the romantic relationship Roheen and Gulalai have#and she knows they’re planning on leaving eventually but can’t imagine managing a different life with her chronic pain#you ever think about THAT?#anyway. hey look!! Phailin appears more in this bunch!!!#she really deserves more attention that this incorrect quotes generator refuses to give her#I like to think that maybe she’s not as quick to catch onto slang and common euphemisms#bc while she grew up in the EK she was pretty isolated from her peers bc of discrimination#hence the ‘put them on a boat’ comment#and everything else is the same#Shezan is once again a danger to herself. Daneli is once again adorably clueless about a lot of things#and Gulalai is Tired#it’s been just over a week and a half since their creation and I’m still not any less obsessed with these girls :)#kat and nia and their multiverse of madness#original characters#lmao. just realised that I’m posting this in the exact same circumstances as the last bunch#in the afternoon on a Wednesday waiting to go over to my auntie’s place#neat coincidence

Okay google how do I stop my newest obsession from having Kuviren vibes
#look. I don't either either roheen or gulalai are very possessive#it wouldn't really work if they were. given what they do#+ they both adore shezan and have messed around with the other girls before#but you absolutely cannot convince me that there aren't moments when they're laying together and roheen pulls gulalai to her#as close as she possibly can. and whispers 'I wish I could have you all to myself. I don't want anyone else touching you'#it's less of a possession or jealousy thing and more a wish for a different life. really#but point still stands that some vibes are slipping through

Gulalai, who chooses to go by one name to protest the custom of taking a man’s name, runs a women’s organization called Khwendo Kor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She conducts weekly feminist reading sessions in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meetings bring women teachers, doctors, and nonprofit workers together to read and discuss the intersection of gender, class, economic inequality and nationalism. “Living in this part of the world and being a woman, how can one not be a feminist?” Gulalai said. “There is no other option.”

This is Pakistani activist Gulalai Ismail, whose group called Aware Girls promotes women’s rights and peace.
Gulalai and Aware Girls have faced a campaign of defamation accusing Gulalai of “blasphemy” and the organization of undertaking “immoral” activities. Her organisation has been subject to much government interference and attempts to shut it down.
Urging people to think critically and respect human rights should not lead to a fine or jail time. Blasphemy is a victimless crime.
Gulalai Ismail will be speaking at a public meeting to promote the removal of blasphemy from Ireland’s laws. This will take place in Buswell’s Hotel, Dublin on the 13th October at 3 pm.

Even more incorrect quotes shenanigans, because I’m going to do everything in my power to cheer my dear @katkastrofa up, even if school almost completely exhausted my mental capacity :)
#no extensive tags bc I’m tired but can’t take a nap bc I have a thing to do in 2 hours#however. some brief notes:#the first one is what happens when you romance a wannabe lawyer. you’re gonna get infodumped on :P#though honestly it’s much more tolerable than her usual hot but stupid act so… pick your poison#Shezan is a menace both to herself and society at large and we all love her for it#Gulalai is horny. Qader is blunt and a little scary. Daneli is adorabl. and Phailin.. exists#lmao I promise she appears a lot more in the next bunch I have saved up#she deserves more ‘screen time’. so to speak#these girls well and truly live in my head rent free now. I’m obsessed with them your honour#original characters#kat and nia and their multiverse of madness#yo that’s a suggested tag now that’s neat

Gulalai Ismail, the Pakistani activist who fled the country after being threatened for taking a stand against sexual violence perpetrated by security forces. She was photographed in Brooklyn, where she is now seeking asylum
- How does it feel to be in New York?
“I had remained without any communication for four months, so it's been a bit overwhelming. And when you live for so long in a state of insecurity it's not a magic bullet where all of a sudden you start feeling safe. Even today, if I go outside and someone is holding a camera I get a bit paranoid.”
-Let's back up — when did your situation with the Pakistani authorities escalate enough that you felt you had to leave the country?

- Now that you're out, what happens next?
“I have paid a huge price for speaking out and for not silencing myself.”
- Gulalai Ismail
“I think the enemy is self-censorship. In a free society the biggest danger is that you're afraid to the point where you censor yourself.“ -Tim Robbins
“You should not be subjected to the pressures, the intimidation, whether by Government or by the private sector, which would force you into self-censorship.“ - Alfred-Maurice de Zayas
“Society develops a type of self-censorship, with the knowledge that surveillance exists - a self-censorship that is even expressed when people communicate with each other privately.“ - Julian Assange
“Self-censorship is insulting to the self. Timidity is a hopeless way forward.“ - Ai Weiwei
“Self-censorship is a lie to yourself; if you are going to be trying to seriously create art, to create literary art, and you decide to hold back, to censor yourself, then you are a fool to yourself and it would be better that you kept your mouth shut and did not speak.“ - Salman Rushdie
“Self-censorship, the most important and most successful form of censorship, is rampant. Debate is identified with dissent, which is in turn identified with disloyalty. There is a widespread feeling that, in this new, open-ended emergency, we may not be able to 'afford' our traditional freedoms.“ - Susan Sontag
“Richard Nixon got kicked out of Washington for [wire-] tapping one hotel suite. Today we're tapping every American citizen in the country, and no one has been put on trial for it or even investigated. We don't even have an inquiry into it." + “A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all. They'll never know what it means to have a private moment to themselves an unrecorded, unanalysed thought. And that's a problem because privacy matters, privacy is what allows us to determine who we are and who we want to be.” - Edward Snowden
Doors – The Soft Parade Lyrics
When I was back there in seminary school
There was a person there
Who put forth the proposition
That you can petition the Lord with prayer
Petition the lord with prayer
Petition the lord with prayer
You cannot petition the lord with prayer!
Can you give me sanctuary
I must find a place to hide
A place for me to hide
Can you find me soft asylum
I can't make it anymore
The Man is at the door
"Why 'I Have Nothing to Hide' Is a Terrible Defense of Minor Privacy Violations" by Natalie Shoemaker, bigthink.com.
“I would rather be without a state than without a voice.“- Edward Snowden
“Assange generally opposes redacting documents for two reasons. On the one hand, Assange views redaction as a form of censorship, “a rather dangerous compromise” and “a very, very dangerous slippery slope.” He observes that corporate news media frequently redact documents not to minimize harm but to either protect people in power from embarrassing revelations or protect themselves from government backlash. In Assange’s view, such self-censorship is the main problem with contemporary news media, and he does not want WikiLeaks to go down that path.” READ MORE https://www.mintpressnews.com/edward-snowden-julian-assange-unfamiliar-permanent-record/262103/

Urgent Action Update: Ailing Professor Arrested After Cancellation of Bail
Professor Muhammad Ismail, 66 and an Amnesty Prisoner of Conscience, was arrested on 2 February 2021 after his pre-arrest bail was canceled at his bail confirmation hearing at an Anti-Terrorism Court in Peshawar.
Charged with “terror financing” because of the organization his daughter, human rights defender Gulalai Ismail does, he is at risk of a lengthy prison sentence.
The arrest follows heavy-handed intimidation tactics (including raids at his home), intrusive surveillance and repeated appearances in court for hearings since July 2019. Professor Ismail and his wife also remain on the country’s no-fly list, which prevents them from being united with their daughter Gulalai Ismail – who was forced to flee her home country in September 2019. It is distressing to learn that Professor Ismail is at risk of a lengthy prison sentence, as he faces trumped-charges under the draconian Anti-Terrorism Act and Electronic Crimes Act. What started as a ‘terrorism’ charge for defending his daughter online, has now become a ‘sedition’ allegation.
Professor Ismail recently tested positive for COVID-19, which his family says has weakened his health significantly, exacerbating the risk to his wellbeing if he is sent to jail.
Amnesty International calls for all charges against Professor Ismail to be dropped unconditionally and for his immediate release.
